great professor, funny too
Triff is a smart. He also believes that his students are rather dumb, so he wastes our time telling stories about his personal life that have nothing to do with the course....he's someone to shoot the breeze w/ not learn about philosopy in an academic way
very enthusiastic, and interesting
he is a great professor. he always made class intresting and his gradind policies were very fair
Very good prof.
What I liked most about his class was the aura of confidence he projected as an instructor - he's one of those people that could make you laugh without trying to. He really knew his stuff. I liked to hear him talk philosophy, but I disliked studying the subject matter.
Although, I received a C for this class it was very interesting, very smart and knows his material. GREAT PROFESSOR!!!!
Great professor, he is open minded to students opinions. He's the type of guy you'd want to stay in contact with.
Amazing professor with a great passion for philosophy. Contemporary teaching style. I highly recommend this professor.
He iS ThE HoTteST TeaChER I HaVe evEr sEeN
He casually kicks it with his class while rolling off the material, makes class interesting. Then a couple of days before the test gives you a condensed review. His test are downright tricky in a philosophy way. Good teacher, you'll learn.
His class is a great experience.. he'll make you ponder your thoughts and your system of beliefs as well as your identity... he does not concentrate on the history of phylosophy rather on the applications of philosophy to us on a daily basis. i recomend him cery much.. I loved his class his test are easy 90 percent memory, 10 perceent comprehensive
He is a veru good professor. Topics can be a little confusing, but he explains each theory very well. You will not be bored. To pass with a decent grade, do homework and study. Only 3 test given for the whole semester and that's including the final. VERY INTERESTING!!
Guy is like a mix of Ringo Starr and Kramer(from Seinfeld). He's a great teacher, problem is you'll have to be a great student. Pretty laid back, eventhough he would single me out sometimes, lol.
His a very good, but you have to work very hard if you want to pass his class.
This guy thinks he is Gods gift to mankind. He thinks he is teaching High School insted of College level. He puts students on the spot if his precious questions are not answered. He actually confused me with his questions. I hated every minute of his class and ended up dropping it.
I love the way he ties in philosophical concepts like personal identity to movies like the Sixth Day, Minority Report and I Robot.
Only 3 exams in a summer term. But you ave to do the homework, he asks the questions from the homework and if you don't do it....forget it!...he likes you to participate in class. it's an interesting class and the style he teaches it is interesting too....but do your homework!! =)
This class is the only class I can think of where it pays to be a film buff. Seriously, he spends a a quarter of the time talking about movies, half on philosophy and another quarter going off tangents about misc topics like cooking and traveling. That's how he make the material accessible. Beware of the tests, they are tricky.
The profesor teaches his course not only using the book, nut he compares it with everyday life situations. Tests and quiz can puzzeling, as long as, u listen to what he talks about in class and use common sense you'll pass his course. All of his tests and quiz r not out of the book, but critical thinking. He looks out for attendance and tardiness.
good teacher!! if you'r absent you get lost the next class! very easy class. you have to participate in class to get extra points and to pass the class
HE'S AN AWESOME TEACHER...VERY LAID BACK...ONLY THREE EXAMS IN A FALL TERM...COULDN'T BE ANY BETTER. NO USED TO DO THE HOMEWORK BECUZ HE DOESN'T COLLECT IT BUT HE DO GO OVER IT IN CLASS. HIS THREE EXAMS (QUIZ, MIDTERM, FINAL) CAN BE TRICKY SOME TIMES...PAY ATTENTION...HE'S LIKE A HIGH SCHOOL TEACHER NOT A COLLEGE PROFESSOR...LOL...HOPE U DO WELL
i was taking the class. its not hard, but you do have to read the textbook and answer questions that he ask about the homework assignments. this guy's test are hard. the midterms and finals are going to kill you because they are tricky questions.
THIS CLASS IS AN INTO AND HE DOES NOT TAKE IT THAT WAY! TEACHES AS IF YOU WERE A PHILOSOPHY SCOLAR! A LOT OF TEXT BOOK READING. TESTS ARE VERY DIFFICULT. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND UNLESS YOUVE ALREADY BEEN ACQUAINTED WITH PHILOSOPHY
This class is really fun. It's not your typical college course. There are a lot of discussions that make the class really interesting. Dr Triff is a really nice person and enjoys teaching. The exams are a little tricky so you have to pay attention. This class is life changing if you pay attention and read the book!
*MAKE SURE YOU DO THE HOMEWORK!* and go to class. He calls on people randomly to check if they did homework. Other than that it's pretty tough in the beginning but you get used to it. He's a good prof. just make sure you participate in class and always do hw and you should be OK :) tests are complicated but he curves them alot.
This is the hardest class I have taken, Physics II and Discrete Math aside. But Triff is just an amaizing professor, I enjoyed sitting in his class so much that i felt sad when the class was over. Nevertheless, be carefull because it is a hard class. But this class will prepare you for the upper level, when all there is is a midterm and a final.
He is great! You do need to read the book though. He is funny and makes it interesting. Take him. Just make sure you read.
Professor Triff is a trip! He's very interesting and fun. What makes him interesting and fun is the subject.Philosophy is very ancient and complicated. If you like that sort of thing then take his class. Make sure you do his hw because he checks it. And be prepared for his tests, they're hard.
Where to start..this has to be the most unique professor I have ever had...Ill tell you one thing thats for sure you will certainly learn a lot in this class...if your looking for an easy class then this prof. isnt for you..I dont think its possible to pass a test w/o studying and even if you do its still confusing so you have to work extra hard.
homework is a must..he wont collect it but he calls on students randomley for the answers..the test are very hard so i recommend studying and paying attention in class..overall he is really cool and passionate towards what he teaches..the class is different, you will certainly learn a lot..but keep in mind that the test are super tricky!
WHAT A STUPID PROFESSOR! I attended the honors college at mdc, and in my transcript i had all straight A's except for his class that he gave me a B. He does not teach at all, he thinks he is a God, he doesnt really answer your questions, just talks a lot of crap. Do all the homework, he picks on you to answer them. <b> BEWARE...DONT TAKE HIS CLASS.
Colorful dresser, very smart, complicated/confusing tests, you must do all HW (he never collects it but picks on anyone randomley to answer)..al in all hes really passionate about what he teaches and you will learn a lot. Great Professor! Hard subject!
What can i say about this guy. I love him. he's not too easy on the eyes but he is a genious in his field. The intensity of his class and lectures is so strong, you'd have to be an idiot to walk out of his class with nothing. If u want an easy grade this is not the guy for u.But if u are prepared to learn this will be a life changing course.Take it!
This class is supposed to be an intro to philosophy, he does not treat it as such. He takes his subject very seriously and requires that you do the same. If your major is philosophy related or you like the field take it with him. If you just want the credit pick a different profesor.
Amazing teacher. Difficult but honest. I'd take him again at any time.
It is a challenging class however intereting, the material is not so easy to understand put profesor Triff is great at explaining, you must come in with an open mind in order to learn. I loved the class it was my favorite this semester, his a cool guy, all you have to do is do hw show up so that he can discuss it with class that way you have a clea
I love him... very interesting class and great professor... tests are challenging (not tricky)...I would take his class again, take him :) vale la pena!
*MAKE SURE YOU DO THE HOMEWORK!* and go to class on time. The first thing he does when he comes in is take attendence and he only allows you up to 3 absences! He calls on people randomly to check if they did homework. Other than that it's pretty tough in the beginning but you get used to it. He's a good prof. just make sure you participate in class and always do hw and you should be OK :) tests are complicated but he curves them alot.
Very smart man, the class seems to be hard, but is not, just make sure you do your homework and you'll be find. Mainly he assigns homework and on the next class you'll go over it. He will also explain you important stuff and then move to the next section. For the test it may sound tricky, but is not, you just have to know your stuff to the max.
His class was really hard, if you know what I mean. Really hard, and really good. I went to the party too, I had tons of fun with him. He even gave me the chance to do extra credit, in his butt ;)
His class was challenging... My first philosophy class and I loved it... so much that I decided to major in it. He's a great professor, you'll learn a lot. The tests are easy as long as you know your material and do what you are supposed to do.
Professor Perez-Triff's classes are always interesting. Be sure to do his homework because while he won't collect it, he will randomly call students to share their answers. His tests are a little tricky but he always curves them a bit. All in all I enjoyed his class.
This guy is a pain in the ...... hardest class ever.
participation in class is a must, the more you contribute ur ideas the more he'll like you... the tests are kind of tricky and random but use the site he gives and take the practice tests! he most times uses them exactly... he's funny and will not make the impossible to bare
Good Professor, very interesting class but not easy to get an A. His test are tricky, but he does curve. Make sure you read the text book and the online blog. Also do the online quizzes- it's worth it.
very knowdgeleable teacher. i learned a lot. he is a classy dresser.
hot triffits. french or latino?? smart dresser and loads of fun. tough tests but curves them.
He dresses differently, i think it's cool, his classes are interesting and fun, he will explain the subject really well. make sure u do the hw he doesnt pick it up but he does go over it the next class.Read the book. his test r tricky but if u study for it u will do fine.overall very god class
This teacher is hard, but he's a great teacher!
do not take the class with him..... i didnt understand a word..... :(
Fun, very clear and, great role model. Read his website and, the correlating chapters in the book and you'll do great. Take HIM!
Excellent Professor. I would recommend his class to any one who is willing to learn. Not a walk over - you MUST STUDY in order to pass but he knows his stuff very well. I recommend his class 100% but be prepared to do your part. He uses real life examples to assist with the learning process.
He doesn't know how much he impressed me as a professor. All his classes were more and more interesting, he is one of the professors that you will never forget. One of the best professor I've ever had. I highly recommend him. You have to study, but isn't that why we are all in school??? I wish there were more professors like him...
Do not make your biggest mistake! Don't take this professor! He's test are so tough that even if you study you still get no more than a C. He said if you get a B you are cool, if C you are average. So you can forget about A...
i loved his class. great sense of humor, keeps you awake. he knows what he's talking about. come to class because chances are you'll be entertained. but read the textbook, do the homework, or else you most likely won't do well.
This professor is horrible. May know what he is talking about but he barely came to class. When he does come to class he dismisses you early. His tests were extremely difficult.Never went over anything. The highest grade in the class was a B. I got a C. If you want to learn nothing but pass with a C he is the professor you want.
nice class to debate n converse n he his grading is extremely flexible, since when is a 70 a B+..lol..he's cool..
Real easy class tests are kinded of tricky but he curves them alot.
If you like theory, you'll love this class, very knowledgeable, you wont pass his test if you don't understand and study, he is fair, not a grade tosser, gives you what you earned. I got a B and you'll do alot of reading, i enjoyed it, alot of theories to remembers, but good!!
GREAT professor. He makes going to class worth it. I took Philosophy with him and thought it was really hard..had to work a lot to earn a B, but i managed to get an A the second time around, in Critical Thinking and Ethics. Yes, his tests are tricky, ONLY because you cannot memorize things, you need to fully understand them.
I had Triff this year in the summer. He was recommended by a friend, I really loved the course. I know he can be tough at times but in the end what I learned made up for it.
His idea of pihlosophy is outstanding. The only problem I had was on the test. They are extremely tricky. On the other hand, he is very considerate cuz he curves your grade really well. Not only that, but students open freely and are able to express themselves in class!! And to top it off, his wardrobe is exquisite!!
Great teacher and fair. test are tricky so must read clearly. Loves to bring current news and discuss with the class. Gives out homework every week but does not collect. Overall he is a good teacher.
He says nobody gets an A, not even the Honor kids, I took as a challenge I got an A. Got to admit that he knows whatever he is teaching, I always memorized all the flashcards online 4 and never learned anything. He will curve the quizzes and midterms that are hard, so it all depends on how smart are the kids in your class.
He's not very clear, gets distracted while explaining material and then makes his tests extremely hard. I had to teach myself almost entirely with the textbook. I would not recommend this as class at all.
he is not sexy! he's super cool!! n he's funny but his test are super super tricky!! i studyed my asssss off and got a C! tricky tests!!! and yes he curves his tests plus 1 extra credit. went to every class n still got a C. but hes super cool
this dudes test are super hard and i understand he makes them so you can think but not to think until your left dazed and confused about yourself and making your head explode! he gives great examples about real life regarding the subject and is very fair with grading considering his test are hard. study hard if you want a B.
Very good professor. He have a lot of knowledge in the topic. Very interesting class. However, you to study in order to pass. A lot of reading.
He's horrible don't take him.Dropped his class. His tests are hard as hell, and his classes are entertaining only if you enjoy seeing a guy dress like a clown, with green pants and purple sunglasses.Besides his fashion sense, his teaching methods are horrible. He has no structure to his lessons and goes in circles. Don't take him!
Whoever says Triff's class is hard, is on crack. He talks about topics in his own way. The way to actually pass the class is to read the textbook in your spare time. He curves his grade, which not many professors do, so people, be thankful. The guy is a published author, and probably one of the smartest people any of you goons will ever meet.
Triff rules! Anyway that's my personal opinion.
very cool, presents the matter in his own way which is interesting, tests are hard sometimes have nothing to do with study sheet, book is a must!, overall nice guy, funny, gives good examples, take him if you want to expand your mind and discover new things, but be preapred to get a B at most.
Triff rules! Anyway that's my personal opinion.
Triff rules! Anyway that's my personal opinion.
Super hard class very dense material to begin with. Triff presents things in his own way which unnecessarily complicates things way too much. His tests are based in his own words and the way he teaches the course. His studyguides are useless, the only way to pass is to read the book thoroughly and understand it. Tried different study methods and th
Triff is a philosophy genius. Loved his lectures. He really wants the students to participate. Watch out for his exams, study hard, and pay attention. Textbook will help you understand his language. Loves to ramble in french. His class is very refreshing
easy as it gets.... you dont even have to reed the book, just listen to the guy (which by the way is really funny). if you cant pass his class you need profesional help.. His grade scale is: A 100-79 B 78-60 C 59-40.
Great individual who is highly accomplished in both his career and personal development. Vastly learned and accepting of others and self.
PURE GENIUS.
Subject is heavy but he makes it easy to understand with his lectures. Homework is important to keep up during class. Tests are hard but he curves them to an extent that its almost impossible to fail. He's a genious! makes philosophy fun and interesting. Bit of a challange but i loved his class. For philosophy this is your guy totally recommend him
A modern day genius, though it seems he lives in Urban Outfitters, he will make you question everything around you, the subject is heavy but the way he teaches is just awesomeness, if you need the class take him, if you dont need the class, still, take him! IT IS WORTH IT!!!!
very interesting class great professor who loves his subject. very strict on attendance tho.
Prof. Triff is a great Prof. He curves his test so that you never fail them. He is so weird that he is funny! He makes this subject very interesting. His exams are not that easy. I'm taking him now for Summer B and I'm passing his class. Make sure you complete his HW, because he expects your participation in class. GREAT PROFESSOR! I recommend.
HE'S A GENIUS, HE BREAKS EVERYTHING DOWN TO THE POINT. TRY TO DO HIS HOMEWORK SO YOU CAN KNOW WHAT THEY'RE TALKING ABOUT... TEST ARE KIND OF DIFFICULT BUT HE CURVES THEM SO YOUR GOOD... IT'S IMPOSSIBLE TO FAIL... OH AND STAY UPDATED TO HIS BLOG/SITE THAT'S PART OF YOUR GRADE TOO :)
if you actually want to learn about philosophy take this class. he is an amazing professor who really does care about you. you do have to study for his exams but his grading score is good.. i always got 60% and for him that was considered a B. take him you wont regret it. just dont be lazy
took him for philosophy, he's a great professor, you do have to read the book and come to class.
I really liked this professor! even though this isnt my area of interest, I found this class pretty easy. He curves his tests and if you need to make them up, he lets you. The only thing hes really tough about is attendance, and he will call you out if you are absent/tardy a lot.its a pretty interesting class.
Great guy and great stories. he fosters a lot of great discussions with the class and will help you raise questions about your own self-awareness. Great grading scale also. Highly recommend.
Professor Triff really knows his stuff and knows how to teach it very well and even though Philosophy is not my area of expertise nor major, he makes the class fun. He even has his own method, The Triffian Philosophy. Excellent Professor. :)
Prof. Triff is an absolutely solid professor. He's genuinely passionate about the study and teaching of philosophy & ethics. His lessons are clear & concise. He's very cool & laid-back. Also, he's quite eccentric with his clothing. Kind of like a hipster. If show up to class, and study well, you can't fail his class. Best philosophy prof @ MDC.
AWESOME teacher! It was the kind of class that I was never too tired to go to. I would skip my first class, but I would never skip Triffs! I got a C but it was the best C ever. Literally changed my views, very mind blowing, felt like I was high. And I'm an engineering major. TAKE HIM!
One of the best teacher's that I've ever had! He's simply amazing, I used to see Philosophy has something from another world. Not anymore
Prof Triff is one of the best professors that I've had in MDC. His classes are fun and make you actually learn Philosophy with enthusiasm! Triff is a veryyyy smart guy, a modern genious we can say. Very helpfull too
My experience wit professor Triff has been amazing starting with he guided me throuigh my own college algebra problems. I never thought I would even like philosophy. His tests are hard but I moved from a C to a B and hope to get an A in the final. He is one of the best at MCD.
Professor Triff is a man with passion for his work but he's also very intimidating. To be honest, I didn't like the class that much but I learned a lot & hope to pass with a 'C'. His tests are hard and tricky & if you don't study, don't expect to pass. Other than that he's a good person.
What can I say. Philosophy is not for everybody but I don't regret it. I hope for a B but it doesnt matter. It was worthwile. Triff is tough but amazing!
What a pain in my behind this guy was! He is the type of professor that wasnt everyone to participate in class. After a while though he actively seeks those that speak the most and forgets the rest. The one time I did speak he told me to shut up because I was wrong. Wouldn't take him again. Good luck!
I didn't know anything about philosophy. Triff is really tough on attendance and homework. He really made an effort to help everybody in the class including me )and I'm not easy. I started feeling I could understand arguments and participated more. Triff helped me w my paper and I ended up with an A. If u want to learn take him.
He is very enthusiastic about philosophy, very open minded and understanding. enjoyed his class, gives students opportunities to express their opinions and their views. Very interesting class , and an easy A for sure, that is if you put a little effort .
It's really hard to get good feedback from me, because I never forget even slight disadvantages of people. Triff is one of the best professors I've ever had in my life. Take his class, you'll never regret.
This course was a breeze. Just pay attention to the study guides for the quizzes. HW is collected but not graded. Attendance is mandatory. Take him!!! Super easy
professor triff was very encouragable and inspiring
horrible awful experience I had to drop his class do not take him! I do not recommend him his test are difficult he makes it harder than it needs to be I regret staying in the class half of the semester and he is not hot at all
Triff is one of the best professors I've ever had--if not the best. He's passionate about philosophy, and is very clear in his explanations and examples. However, don't expect to pass this class if you don't do the homework and study. Although his tests are tricky, or triffy, as i like to call them, do your work and you'll be fine. Use your head.
He is a great professor, very helpful and fun. If you do the homework and don't miss class you should be fine.PD:Just be careful with his exams because they are a little tricky.
Professor Triff is a very nice guy, he knows about Philosophy but sometimes is hard to focus on what he is talking about, he could be more clear. Test are really hard, but he is not hard on the grading part. Take him but you really need to study and memorize every subject. The good part is that he is very helpful like every professor should be.
I like Mr. Triffs class. They were very fun, and I woke up in the morning wanting to go to them..pretty unusual. The tests are pretty hard, and you should studu well for them.. like a week before... Homework is mandatory, and perfect attendance has a good impact on him.. Do your final paper.. I hope to get an A ...
THIS MAN IS BRILLIANT. Best professor in MDC. If you actually want to learn take any class he offers. Classes are discussion based and very interesting. A couple of take home tests and a whole lot of reading to keep up in class. He's also a very nice man with an interesting character. I recommend him to everyone.
He's is a great professor. I took his class two years back and I enjoyed every minute of it. It is a very interesting and high intellect class. Requires a lot of thinking and abstract thinking. His exams are hard but if you show hard work and your attendance to class and participation is good there is no reason why you shouldn't end up with an A.
Great Guy! Very intelligent and passionate about life and Philosophy, Classes are very interesting, but the tests are really difficult unless you memorized the book.
Where to begin? His level of teaching & test difficulty are at a University level which I much enjoyed. So few profs at MDC demand anything out of students and just give away marks, praising mediocrity. He is eloquent, his passion for knowledge is contagious and he was even willing to look into a documentary I recommended. Great prof, great class!
Alfredo Triff really cares about his students and is extremely passionate about what he does, I've learned a lot from being in his class and I would definitely take again. Only thing with him is that you need to study a lot, participate in class, and if you do those things then the tests should be somewhat easy to you.
Professor Triff is awesome. A true gem. Cares about his students and encourages you to use your brain. Philosophy can be tough, prepare to read, dont skip class, and participate even if you feel dumb. Tests are tough so STUDY. But great professor and there to help. Hes fantastic. And quirky and funny! Yay Triff!!!
He is a really interesting character. And he is very helpful. His grading curve is the best thing ever, but that's because the tests can be tricky, with many truefalse questions. He can be very lenient with you if you show him you care. If you ask for help, he will do whatever he can. The class material itself is interesting!
HE IS ONE OF THE BEST PROFESSOR BUT IF YOU DONT DO THE PAPERS YOU WONT PASS. NOT EASY BUT NO HARD
His lectures are a bit confusing, he is not a tough grader, he encourages you to seek help from him, his tests are tough but don't worry he helps you out. There is one major paper, which he guides you through step by step. Oh and he cares about the students who have good attendance, he might give you extra points for that.
If you are able to think wayyyyyyyyy out of the box, then this class is for you. If not, don't expect to pass this class with more than a C. He'll offer to help but he's also very demanding. Be prepared to be frustrated with the final paper.
Doesn't really teach on level for you to understand the material. If you read the book and don't understand, don't expect the lectures to help you. Test are hard.. Lectures are all over the place never really talk about the topic, he'll say one thing on the topic and start talking about stuff not related. His paper? Be prepared. Don't take him!
go to part b of the humanities and choose another class. made the mistake of being a noob freshy and not knowing you can take another class to fulfill the requirement. average grade of class was a C. hard tests and he knows its. a 50% is a C.
Triff is unique. He may be tough but gives 150% to the class. Before I hated writing, but really got into it. I was impressed with the amount of time he put in my paper. 4 revisions! In the end I was actually proud of what I did.
His tests are a magic show of trickery, look for the slight of hand and read everything twice at least. Attend his office hours and get help early. Start paper early! DO THE PAPER! Don't be afraid to ask questions. Be prepared for a difficult journey. His curve is the best I've ever seen, do not take it for granted he has it for a reason.
It was a quite a LONG journey to have Triff as a professor. He is a great professor and tries his best so that students understand the lectures. He can be funny every once in a while. His test are a bit tricky, but that's only if you don't study enough! His paper is tedious so expect to spend a lot of time on it. Overall, I recommend!
Triff is the best and I'm not easy on people.
Fascinating, kind, and wants his students to do well! The way he speaks about philosophy is truly inspirational. He is one of the most interesting teachers I have had. I would highly suggest taking his class, regardless or your major. He excels at really expanding your mind.
I didn't know anything about philosophy. Triff is really tough on attendance and homework. He really made an effort to help everybody in the class including me and I'm not easy. I started feeling I could understand arguments and participated more. Triff helped me w my paper and I ended up with an A. If u want to learn take him.
Triff is an inspiration. I personally had a tough spring semester with my personal life but attending his class, truly made me come out with valuable life lessons. Tough and a sweet heart. If you genuinely want to gain something out of your professor Triff is the man. God bless you Triff. - p.s. you get what you put into his class, just do it :
He is an amazing professor! He is extremely funny, I loved his class and would look forward to it. You cannot take this class and not learn. His final paper takes a huge part of your time and you WILL have to work for that grade, but put your effort and you will pass. I would EXTREMELY recommend this prof!
Professor Triff is truly one of a kind. He's makes you work for your grade although understanding the material is challenging. He incorporates day to day experiences to help better understand concepts and brings along humor to ease the moment. The final paper is mandatory to passing this course, take advantage of his office hours for this paper.
Go to his blog and study the test reviews two three weeks in advance before the test , the tests are difficult and filled with tricky true and false questions
Last semester was my last at MDC and Triff made it worthwhile... he makes you work for it but in the end you learn valuable lessons. I'm very proud of my paper! Thank you Dr. Triff.
Tough class he assigned us 15 page essay homework assignments that were due every Thursday good look and study hard
Last semester I looked forward to Tuesdays and Thursdays. Triff's class kept me in school, it's that simple. Great class.
Excellent teacher and very upfront. The first day of class he said, "there's 50 of you in this class, and there will be less than 5 of you with A's!" This is true, but true for the right reason. If you're looking for an easy A, keep looking. If you are like I was, taking this class because of an interest in philosophy in general, look no further
the 15 page essays that he assigns for every other Thursday is the only problems i had with this class and trust me he takes his time to read the papers and give you an in depth critique. Just read the book 247 on the train , bus , walking where ever u are read the book and you'll pass and take your time writing the essays that are due every Thur
Never mind what loosers tell u. Triff is amazing!
Prof. Triff is very helpful, smart, and funny. If you want to get A, read what he assigns and do the homework which he doesn't grade. he just see who is doing it. Since I was taking a Summer B course, there was no paper assigned. Make sure you SHOW UP and READ. His quizzes might be tricky but if you do reading on time, you'll easily pass. Got an A
Best teacher ever. And I'm saying this for all the good reasons! Like his class so much that I'm taking his eastern philosophy class next semester. Thank Dr. Triff, my mind is on fire.
Alfredo Triff's class was one of the best classes I've taken in my college experience. I highly respect the man and how fair he is to his students. His tests were hard but the research paper has a lot of weight. Do not expect to pass this class with little effort. Also, try not to miss class because it's mind-blowing and it will keep you motivated.
Philosophy being the difficult topic that it is, requires a professor than can explain the material in a cohesive, simple way; Triff is not that professor! He goes on elaborate rants that have no focus on the subject at hand, and doesn't liked being challenged. Ppl that like his class are uninterested in learning the topic & just think he is funny.
Triff is a great professor, although philosophy is a complex subject to understand since it is not based on facts rather arguments. He takes his time to connect with life examples that can better help to understand the subject. He assigns one paper through phases, and his feedback is clear for revising later. His exams are east if you study.
This class was one of my best experiences. Triff is one of the best professors at miami dade college because he actually cares for you unlike the other professors. He makes you use your brain. At first you will be confused, but then you will understand.I respect him because he is very passionate aboutwhat he does. Funny &crazy in a good way!
This professor makes you work for your grade. If you like a challenge then you should definitely take triff because he makes you think outside of the box unlike other professors. Hes always there for you. Hes funny & crazy in a good way, but its okay because there is always something good in craziness. TRIFF YOU ARE AWESOME! this clalife changing
Professor Triff was an unusual teacher-- seemed insane. Long lectures and require reading. I would take him again because he had moments that inspired me to ask more questions.
To be completely honest, I took this class expecting an easy A, and also to be constantly amused, and this Professor to me was the complete opposite. He is passionate about what he talks about, which I like, but he is all over the place. He uses the board a lot, but what he writes is not legible one bit. I have an A in the class, but i learned nada
Not much to say. I LOVE TRIFF!
Honestly one of the best professors I've ever had!!! Take him if you are a hard working student, and love to learn.
He is a very good professor, probably one of the best I've had at MDC. He makes the class very interesting and yes, you have to read but it is fun. I've never rate a professor but for Triff I had to! He's awesome!
It was a great class in general, interesting
horrible teacher. Talks for nothing and would not take again
Triff is intense and pretty straightforward. Do your job and you will succeed.
Triff is a good guy honestly, he does curve scores to a limit but when he teaches, its a bit off topic. he's blunt and straightfoward but it often comes off as rude. He teaches well but the material it self isn't something you pick up right away.. he automatically knows who will pass his class off of 2 tests when there's four + hw and attendance.
really great professor.
AMAZING PROFESSOR. So much knowledge, so much enthusiasm, just wow. Have you ever had a professor who captured EVERYONE'S attention EVERY class? This is Triff. The material is a little challenging (understanding/memorizing) theories, etc,, but that part is on you. He is such a great teacher, I am so glad I took his class!
He knows what he's speaking about but he really can't explain them. I felt that his writing on the board needed more work.. Maybe he can tidy himself up with how he teaches
Great and easy class. Triff is very passionate about philosophy. We read outloud in class and the professor presented challenging questions.
There are many reasons why Triff is a great choice. He provides study guides that include questions that will be on tests. He has interactive lectures, he encourages students to answer questions from the homework and goes in depth about subjects. He presents philosophy in a way that many students comprehend. He is always willing to help.
He loves what he does and is funny to other students but i didn't like his class personally. He uses the board every class and can be confusing at times. His exams are very difficult but he curves them which is good. He assigns a Philosophy paper and lots of homework. He grades fairly which is what i like since philosophy is a tough subject.
Dr. Triff was very helpful with my final paper. Really approachable and funny. Take him.
His lectures are very insightful and rich & will keep you at the edge of your seat. He definitely knows what he's talking about and you can tell he loves his field. Frequent homework on the weekly chapter that you read(which comes in handy for tests). You will definitely learn here! There is a final paper, but he breaks it down and helps you.
Professor Triff motivates his students to want to come to class! He's humble and always thanks us for taking interest in his class. I'm currently taking him and it's a class I ook forward to going to.
Professor Triff is Awesome! He made the class enjoyable! He is a Genius!
Prof. Triff is one of the best teachers I've had. Yes, the class is tough. Yes, you will have to do some homework and a paper. But you will learn so much and if you relax you might have fun along the way. He cares a lot about his students and he is very straight forward. Take notes if you can, they will help you along the way.
Really enjoyed his lectures. Get ready to read and study for the hard exams. Be active in class and attend his office and you'll be fine.
He loves what he does and that's always a pleasant thing. He has 3 exams and then the final. The final was not cumulative, it was just based on the last chapter we were learning. I loved that. He's very nice, just make sure to study the topics he posts on his blog and do the practice tests. You'll be fine.
Well here's the deal. You have to study. He's very caring!! If he didn't help me out I would've failed his class. He's cool and loves cats which is a plus
Professor Triff is a great professor; he is charismatic, funny and caring. He is very passionate about philosophy and makes it really interesting. He also managed to make a long night class goes really fast. It is not an easy subject, but if you put a little effort, you will be just fine. GREAT PROFESSOR!!! I would pick him again without thinking.
He's one of the best professors I taken. He makes class very interesting and has a sense of humor .Make sure your attendance is A1 & do your homework and everything else will be a breeze.
He's my favorite teacher. He teaches with the most finess ive ever seen. Very funny , and connects with his students, you can tell he loves what he does.
Prof Triff is AMAZING! He's so passionate about Philosophy and explains it well. His lectures are super entertaining and you will learn. Make sure to get the textbook, you will need it. Tests are easy if you study, he assigns homework every week to prepare for the following class. He is a great prof and so charismatic! I would def take him again.
Literally one of the best philosophy professors of all time. A real gem. I normally don't rate my professors, but I must give credit where credit is due.
He's the best! I really enjoyed his class
Very passionate about the subject and the academic progression of students. The tests are a breeze if you read the book and study. Encourages class discussions often. He breaks down complex subject matters into easy-to-understand pieces. Wish I could take him again 10/10
OMG I RECOMMEND TRIFF TO EVERY ONE WHO IS READING THIS, HE IS SUCH A GOOD PROFESSOR, YOU WILL LOVE I SWEAR HE HELPS YOU, HE IS EASY GOING YOU CA ASK, HE REALLY CARES FOR HIS STUDENTS , I LOVE HIM AND YOU WILL LOVE HIM IF YOU TAKE HIS CLASS, MAKE SURE YOU UNDERSTAND AND YOU WILL BE FINE.
He is the best professor!!! I learned so much. He is amazing not only on his lectures but also as a person!! I highly recommend him!
THIS GUY IS A GENIUS!! HIS LECTURES ARE AMAZING, HE NOT ONLY TEACHES AND HE DOES IT EXTREMELY WELL, BUT HE ONLY INSPIRES HIS STUDENTS TO BE AND DO MORE. DEFINITELY THE BEST PROFESSOR I HAVE EVER HAD
Amazing lectures, however if you dont study it can get tricky. Of course its philosophy.
I respect Professor Triff so much. The course is Philosophy, so yes, he is very philosophical, he teaches the material, explains it extremely well and always gives you scenarios to understand the many theories in philosophy. You must study for his tests but he gives you access to study guides/flash cards online. Study, take note Earned A.
Would take this professor over and over and over again. I absolutely cherish him and his style of teaching. Not an average teacher and incorporates real life scenarios into his class. BEST professor I've had the the pleasure of meeting.
He's an odd professor and make you believe as if the class will be a breeze. He writes notes on the board which makes no sense because his writing isn't the best. if you read the book and take notes you should be fine. The exams are tricky, but his grading scale is more than fair.
Textbook required. He uses real life scenarios when lecturing. Notes should be taken as they are in the tests, even though you may not understand his handwriting on the board. Don't rely on study guides for tests, read the book.
if you're into phi. take him but if you're not, don't. he grades fair and truly all he wants is for you to understand and learn but it is way too much information and if you don't truly understand all concepts then you'll fail the test consequently the class.
The lecture was interesting at some points but then at others, I zoned out. If you are not really into learning about this particular field you most likely will be like me. The good thing is his grading system is off he sets it up so that you should be able to pass his class as long as you tried on the test and came to class.
Hes an awesome Professor. He knows his stuff and keeps your attention with good lectures. His homework assignments and lectures prepares you for the test completely. He curves the grade. Theres one essay and 4 exams.
One of the most interesting, well-versed, and knowledgeable professors on any campus. His lectures are decisive, heavy, and intricate. You must pay attention to his class because these are concepts about thought experiments. Find out how relatable it is to your life and others. World class professor that I feel provides invaluable lessons.
I was not into phi, but this prof is cool. If you take your time to understand what he's tryna explain, you'll like it and you'll pass his class. I will not take this class again, cause I'm not into phi, but if you are, I truly recommend you triff.
He does make the class fun. He's so strange I love it. Sometimes he says things that are outdated and it was fun challenging him about it. The discussions are really interesting. The first 2 tests are difficult because of the subject (logic and the mind) but the other 2 are easy. You will write a phi essay. Study, read and take notes.
I absolutely love this class and I would take it again. His lectures were not only informative but also fun. You will need your textbook and he did give homework so you could follow next class lecture. He's a bit strange but harmless, he understands students and hardships so it's okay to talk to him. Also, VISIT HIM DURING HIS OFFICE HOURS!!!
Whether you're into philosophy or ethics, you will definitely love professor Triff. His lessons are amazing and you will learn a lot not only the book lessons but also life lessons. You will need the book since he gives book questions but also for his tests. He is very respectful, thoughtful and funny. Taking his class is a MUST!
He was easily the best professor I had. For those who are interested in philosophy, you can feel the passion Professor Triff has for the subject and makes you want to work that much harder to understand. The book is essential, but he's a fair grader and is not looking to fail anyone. Definitely recommend.
Professor triff is a really good professor just read the material in order to understand as well as the homework. The tests are pretty tough but just read and study and you will be fine. He curved our test a lot which was very helpful but just study and youll pass this class.
Professor Triff teach very good anybody will love him but philosophy is a tough subject u have to put the work and use your mind
If your not a big fan of philosophy than do not take him. He is a very tough grader and gets very personal. If you do not like reading then do not take him.
He likes to talk but if you listen you'll be fine
TRIFF IS AMAZING.
Dont take this professor. All class gets C. You wont learn anything. His tests are hard and have nothing to do with his lectures. Even if you study and attend all lectures , you still will never get A. He just uses difficult test banks for his finals. Look for another professor.
This class is amazing and interesting. The professor is a genius ! you will be involved with the topics and everything. Very knowledgeable class
He's a good guy, but he expects students to be philosophers and understand every single thing. He teaches with metaphors and examples but tests are TOTALLY different.
The class becomes easier by always paying attention in class, being as open-minded as you can be, and respecting Triff's arguments while questioning them with logic. He recommends using flashcards for the exams and it proved to be extremely effective. He is a very understanding and loving professor that can allow you to think more critically.
Great professor. If you want to learn you will learn. If you just want to get over your humanities requisite, it is a great choice as well.
If you need to take PHI 2604, take it with Triff. Yes, the tests are hard but if you read the book, take notes and praticipate in class, you'll pass, especially with the way he curves his exams. He's also very compassionate toward his students and helps you out whether it's with life problems or difficulties in class. He is not out to fail anyone.
Triff was the best. I absolutely enjoyed his class so much. He's the type that likes it when his students have their own opinions and he respects them (especially if they can make a good argument for them). He gives fairly easy work and his tests are passable if you pay attention, read his notes on the website and do the homework.
It's hard to fail this class.
He's a great professor, keeps students updated on their grades, makes sure both physical and virtual students understand and are on track, and answers questions very clearly.
Professor Perez-Triff is so sweet and passionate about ethics. You will truly love his class because you can tell he loves what he's teaching. He is very chill and does not give a lot fo work. Tests and assignments are easy and mostly common sense. Professor gives free pdf link to textbook so you don't have to buy it. Easy and fun A :)
Alfred is great professor, I really recommend taking this class. He makes philosophy not so difficult, its a very critical thinking class. But he makes it fun, he is clear with his grading criteria. I really recommend studying, taking notes , and reading.
I love Professor Triff! I hadn't been in school since I graduated in 09' and I was very nervous coming into the class but it was so much fun! the students all connected and made the class fun and entertaining while learning at the same time. He really cares about his students and gets to know each one on a personal level. Awesome class!
His lectures are intriguing and go over topics that will make you a well-rounded person. He wants you to succeed in your endeavors. Getting an A+ achievable. Mid-Term & Final are free-response+One Essay, and he is very understanding. You are getting a private college-level education. You will expand your intellect and have a good time. He's great!
He is AMAZING. Before taking this class I used to hate philosophy but he showed me a very interesting side. He is basically a genius and you won't get bored during his lecture. Pure gem, take him you won't regret :) Also he grader criteria is amazing the lower you'll get is a C.
Professor Perez-Triff goes beyond his call of duty to help his students understand the concepts. He's knows like a walking encyclopedia. Sets high expectations for all students, participation and attendance matter to him. Very understanding
He is very outspoken and loves philosophical conversations as well and class involvement. You will get 7-10 homework assignments 2-4 exams and a final paper, all are answerable through common sense and a little reading. He responds to emails within 48 hours. As for attendance he is very careful, make sure you are there and advise him if mistaken.
I took Professor Triff over the spring 2021 and I absolutely loved the class. You will learn content useful not only for the course but also for life ! Professor Triff makes difficult concepts easy to understand through his real life examples and his class is a lot of fun. Honestly one of the best courses I have ever taken. Absolutely recommend.
He is a really nice professor! Easy class and doesnt give a lot of work. Just get your attendance because it is a big part of your grade everything else is easy and yes we used the textbook it really helped with my homework he gave us.
Be open-minded and willing to learn new things and perspectives. This class was great and the professor is amazing and knowledgeable.
Amazing professor you wont regret it, he is clear on grading and explains the material very well. I left with a lot of life lessons witch is the best part. the best professor I have taken so far.
What can I say!! Took this class summer term B, honestly would have liked the class to last for an entire year, best class Ive had. Had lessons of 3.5 hours and it felt like 1 hour. This professor is a gem, if you like philosophy you will love it and if you dont you will love it too. The professor knows the topic really well and you will learn!!!
I took him for an 8-week course and he was a great teacher. He makes sure you understand the content and is very descriptive. All of the homework, in addition to the midterm/final, are written responses. The book is required but it's free online. Nothing is proctored and he is an easy grader. Would definitely take him again.
Great lectures overall best professor he makes the course very intresting.
The best professor I've ever had, I was glad to be in one of his last classes before his retirement. The lectures were truly interesting and he is a very kind person.
This professor is AMAZING I am so glad I got to get him before he retired, his classes are inspirational, he is so passionate and a really great teacher! Theres hw that makes you think, his tests are short but also make you think so its not super hard but you need to do some work.
This has been one of favorite classes. The class is fairly lecture heavy, which means you absolutely should be attending the classes and paying attention but the lectures are such a fun and informative time that you'll end up looking forward to class. Class participation is encouraged, especially when discussing different points of views. 10/10
I have never seen any professor passionate about philosophy than Mr. Perez. He is eloquent and generous in lecture. He makes me grow 10 inches. lots of homework, and I have to spend night and day reading in order to do those homework. He is a great one.
An easy A. He's clear on his instructions but is also very lenient and understanding if you forgot to turn in homework or something. The Final is some questions and an essay and you just email it to him. His lectures were long but he's king.
