Amazing prof help student care about them. great lectures makes it easy to understand
Very pleasant and caring professor. His lectures are clear and organized (which is important for a science based course), and he makes sure to connect concepts he speaks about thoroughly. Found him very easy to follow along with... I never left his classes feeling lost or unfocussed. His tests are very fair as long as you study material.
Amazing Prof, honestly he truly cares about his students and hopes they do well. Some of his slides would have a lot of info (numbers etc) but he'd tell you what's important on those slides and not + which we could expect on his exams. Totally, recommend him!!!!!
Best prof I've had this far. You can tell he cares about making sure his students understand the material and do well on test. He goes out of his way to explain things and his tests are very fair. Oh, and he's hot!!!
Seems like a good guy but should really improve his lecturing. Sometimes he talks so fast it's hard to hear what he's saying and other times it doesn't make sense. Had to read the book for some concepts that sometimes were the opposite of what he said. It's probably his first time lecturing so it will probably get better
If you have the chance def. take his course. He's an excellent lecturer & cares for his students. I like that he tells us what to focus on for the test.
Professor Abdul-Sater is an amazing lecturer who really knew a lot of about Physiology and he explained every concept in depth until students understood what was happening. His evaluations are difficult but fair so if you study you should be fine. Overall, Great professor
Lectures are good if you actually have a chance to attend them. Normally they are so packed and you can't even find a seat to sit down or there is too much commotion to pay attention.
Super super super! Enough said
While the course is really tough, this prof makes it very enjoyable and fun. His tests are fair, but get ready to memorize and learn lots of new concepts.
3 3 wonderful prof. Funny, explains things real good; course is not the easiest, but he makes sure we understood everything. Don't skip class, read slides before class and you're good.
Every bit as good as the hype about this prof is. Super tough course but he makes it fun and relatable. Get ready to work hard but he is fair and explains the material greatly. If you want to learn how the immune system works, take this course. FASCINATING!!!
Dr. Abdul-Sater is a brilliant teacher. I had him for KINE2011 and KINE3710. His immunology class is quite tough though.
Excellent professor, would definitely recommend his courses. very fair
One of my favourite professors!! Very passionate & truly knows how to engage his students! Finds brilliant ways to relate challenging concepts to everyday life. Had him for 2011 & currently in his KINE3710 class. Although it is a truly challenging course he makes it very interesting. So far his exams were very fair (you have to put in the work tho)
this prof is so great. Wish he gave the entire course!
Dont take immuno, he doesnt teach well and the tests are extremely hard. You will have to work your ass off. Dont do this if you need As or A+ for med school. It will take time away from other courses and will harm your long term goal
Professor makes an otherwise tough course easy to understand. Amazing lectures and I like the analogies he uses to make us understand the point. Not an easy A or A+ for those looking for an easy grade.
Amazing professor. Very intellectual and fluent across a wide range of topics in physiology. The course itself is tough, and very content heavy. Lots of memorization. But his tests are very basic. He does not try and trick you like other professors love to do. As long as you studied his lectures, its easy to do well. No textbook needed.
He has made it really easy to study with his slides, they're very organized and simple to follow, also a great lecturer. Wonderful professor for this course.
Human Phys I (and II) do this weird thing of splitting the course into modules that are taught by specific profs. Sater's modules are straightforward and are a legitimate cakewalk to anyone in the BIOL program. I have no qualms about his teaching method, but I wish he was more controlling of the rowdy, 500-student-body class.
The professor made me fall in love with the material esp. Immunology. I will definitely be taking his Immune system course next year! Best ever
Super easy to follow along his lectures. He's great at explaining the content and giving analogies. I also like the fact that he's not shy of calling students out or telling people to stop talking when he's lecturing. Sometimes he will also give sample exam questions.
Thank you for an amazing semester, Professor Sater! This is by far the most useful and influential course I have ever taken. Take this course if you want an amazing prof + amazing material combination! If you study from his slides, you will kill the course! You are a great professor !!!
what a wonderful professor. brilliant at explaining tricky concepts and great lecture slides. if you want to learn something for real, then take this course. you will not regret it
very good at explaining tough concepts, sense of humour, what every prof should be like. would recommend taking his courses, I definitely would! Tests are straight forward, does not try to bamboozle you. Do not need textbook, all tests based off lectures.
Hilarious prof. His tests are easy if you have a background in biology. I want to take his immunology class just because of how funny he is.
Hands down he is definitely the best professor I have ever had. I had taken immunology with him and he is amazing at explaining such dense and complicated material. Definitely need to study for this class but his tests are 100% fair (solely based on the lectures). Not to mention, he seems like such a nice and genuine person. Loved him!
This prof is great with breaking down and simplifying difficult concepts. He makes sure that everything is explained in a basic form for that we can all follow along. His slides make perfect sense and you can easily follow them if you miss class one day. He truly cares about his students and wants everyone to succeed.
Solid Professor!! He made me fall in love with physiology! He explains everything and gives great examples. Ali Abdul Sater wants you to do well, you just have to put in the work! The lectures are recorded, and he gives hints on some exam questions (which are all multiple choice). 4 modules with 4 tests. Non-cumulative. Such a solid course!!!!!
Dr. Abdul-Sater is an amazing professor. The material itself is quite difficult but he designed the course in a way that makes it easier to grasp and his tests are very fair. He also really cares about his students and was always willing to meet even outside of his office hours to make sure we had all the the resources needed to succeed!
He is clear and organized and a good lecturer overall. Use his slides to study and you will be fine, textbook not needed. He's approachable and usually answers all questions. Tests were a bit tricky though and wording will through you off. There is also not enough time for the tests. The material for this course is easy but the tests are not.
Super tough course. It's A LOT harder than his phys 1 class.
Great professor! Is very passionate about the material and gives good analogies in class to help students understand the material. That being said, the course is very information dense, so attend lecture, study in advance, do not cram the night before and you should be good! His tests are pretty doable, he is not out to trick you.
Absolutely excellent professor; If you want to fall in love with immunology, take his course. Great lectures and exams reflected by what is on slides; his teaching style is the best
It takes some time to get used to the accent but once that's done it's ok. All lectures were recorded the only problem with the lecture recordings was that it was just the recording without the slides so that made it a bit harder to follow along. Definitely need to study for the tests but pretty fair if you put in the effort.
Best professor at York, period. Reasonable tests; pay attention in class and study his slides A
He is an amazing professor who makes the most difficult course vey easy and enjoyable. He is always there for students out side of the class and help them through everything and do his best to help the students to be successful. I NEVER HAD ANY PROFESSOR WHO IS AS CARING AS HE IS.
One word: phenomenal!
Inspirational with his amazing lectures, attend class and pay attention and review your notes and I guarantee you an A
Easily the best professor at York. he makes himself available outside of class when possible.
one of the few professors at york that really knows how to teach.... really enjoyed the course
He explains concepts well! Make sure you listen when he says something is important or what exactly he wants you to know because it will show up on the tests. Study hard and you'll definitely do well.
Even in a big course like this one, he tries to engage as many students as possible. I like the polling questions and hope he makes them more frequent. The only issue, which is not really his fault, is that it's hard to get a hold of him outside class.
A real gem. My favourite professor of all time. The best analogies are so engaging and actually help you remember. 10/10 Phenomenal
I wanted to wait until the end of the term but there's no need. Prof. Sater is simply put: phenomenal. He made me fall in love with the immune system even though it is not an easy topic. Just like other people say, he makes these analogies that make you relate to the material and remember it well.
Amazing professor. Never had a professor who combines excellent teaching ability, fair tests, passionate, and exceptional accessibility in the forms of emails, after class, appointments, etc. He makes a difficult class like 3710 interesting and an A is very achievable! A real gem.
Great prof, can deliver difficult material without losing your attention. Very accessible in person or over email if you have any questions. Immunology is really information-heavy though, so be prepared to keep up and absorb a lot of information in a fairly short amount of time.
I took both his Phys I and Immunology courses and he is the best professor at York. Makes the lectures very engaging and explains things very well. come to lectures and study well, and an A is guaranteed.
Just attend all the lectures and you'll do very well if you have half a brain. He kinda tells you what you need to focus on for the exams.
Somebody hurt Professor Sater's ego sometime in the past and that is the only explanation I have for why he is like the way he is. He goes off topic a lot of the times and doesn't really teach anything not already on the slides. Makes bad jokes and the students in general don't really like him. The course is pretty good though. Memorize slides.
I can't wait to take his Immunology class next year. He made me fall in love with this topic. Great prof
He makes the material very easy to understand by using real life examples. Does lecture recordings but only by audio, no visuals. His tests are very straight forward, right from what he teaches in the lectures. If you miss lectures on a regular basis then it will be harder on the midterms. No final exam, just 4 midterms.
I did my independent study with Professor Sater and it was the best learning experience I have ever had. If you truly want to learn how to do research, look no further than Dr. Sater's lab.
Really disappointed after reading such great reviews of professor Ali. The midterm was incredibly tough and we had 60 multiple choice questions to be completed in 45 minutes. The content was not to difficult but there were so many options that I really got overwhelmed and started to have a mental breakdown. The time was definitely not enough.
He gives well-structured lectures& well-rounded explanations for concepts. However, the exam does not reflect how he has taught us which is a reflection of the COURSE DIRECTOR who makes the test and not him. It was unreasonable to have options a-g for 60 questions with only 45 minutes to complete. It is disappointing, definitely needed more time
His lectures are very well structured and organized. He explains everything really well and goes in dept as much as lecture time allows. His real life examples make you understand the material well. His exams can get a bit difficult so make sure you understand the concepts and aren't just memorizing. Overall pretty solid prof for physiology.
I had high expectations for professor Sater, but honestly I was a bit disappointed, maybe it's because classes were online. Although I achieved an A in kine 2011, I really loved professor Perry's lectures more. I seemed to get confused when professor Sater taught, but others loved it, I guess everyone is different.
btw, THIS IS NOT A BIRD COURSE. It has a PASS leader, meaning 60% students get a D or withdrawal. He wasn't impossible, but I found he didn't explain things clearly and just assumed everyone was a kine major, even though a huge part of the class isn't. The material is pretty interesting, but he was just downright confusing at times.
This class was done all through pre-recorded lectures and the exams we very difficult as they were written online. His lectures were easy to follow and understand but did not prepare you for the exam
I think Dr. Sater did an excellent job delivering the course in the online environment. His lectures were very clear and the QA sessions were great.
Loved the course and enjoyed learning about how the immune system works. Comes handy in a pandemic.
Loved the course and this prof
Been at YorkU for 4 years, this was one of my lowest marks.. Human physiology is a very interesting subject, but this professor made exams exceptionally DIFFICULT.. The way this course is structured is TERRIBLE. 4 super intense mc exams. Unless you have a solid background in Physiology, PLEASE AVOID! Lectures do not prepare you for exams at all!!
The online exams may have been a bit challenging, but overall course was excellent and Dr. Sater made it very enjoyable.
I graduated with my bachelor's from UofT and am now taking some courses to boost my GPA at york. Dr. Sater is top 3 profs I have had the pleasure of learning from in my entire undergraduate career. If you're here to learn and earn a good grade, he's your guy. Lectures are very clearly explained and his tests couldn't be more straight forward.
This guy is just amazing and gives the best analogies that made me understand the complex immunology topics. Thank you Professor Ali
He is a good person but his slides are awful and he talks extremely fast.
Tests are different from what is taught in lectures.
Dr. Sater is a wonderful and passionate professor. His lectures are very informative and he makes it easy for us to understand the difficult material in this course. I just wish there was another immunology course so I can learn more!
Dr. Sater made me fall in love with the immune system and want to become and immunologist after completing medical school. He is so passionate about the topics he teaches and has a unique way of getting the contents through to students.
Just read off slides, didn't go into depth about any topics.
He really simplifies the concepts and I am enjoying his lectures so far
Let's see if I change my rating after the test, but so far Dr. Abdulsater has been amazing....
He is a Siri engine. He LITERALLY only reads of slides.
Immunology is very complex but Dr. Sater makes it enjoyable and understandable. I am enjoying the lectures so much and his explanation is top notch.
I love Dr. ABdulsater's lecture and explanations.
He isn't very clear during lectures and is constantly pausing class to stop students from talking which gets very distracting (not the students talking, but the professor himself) and makes it hard to stay focused in his class. Also, he is not the greatest at answering questions the students have during lecture.
Thank you Professor Abdul-Sater for the amazing modules that you taught us. Listen to everything he says and you will get an A+. It is that simple
Professor Abdul-Sater made me fall in love with Immunology! Enough said.
Prof Abdul-Sater is one of the best Kine professors at York. His lectures in Kine 2011 where clear, and straightforward. He did an amazing job with modules 1 and 2, and cant wait to take his immunology course next year. If you study and listen more to what he says, then what is actually on the sides; It will be impossible to do bad in his class!!!
Three profs are teaching this course, Dr. Abdul taught modules 1 and 2 I thought he explained the content the best.
Solid prof. Thought his module on Immunology was the hardest part of the course, but I also felt he was very fair in the questions he gave on the exam. He's also a funny guy and clearly passionate on what he teaches, which made for detailed and entertaining classes. Can sometimes be a little hard to follow, but overall is a great lecturer.
For a very heavy course, this prof does not explain or expand on concepts well. He teaches as if the entire class already knows the material. Unlike other kin profs who take the time to thoroughly explain, he is very confusing and I found myself searching the internet for better explanations constantly. Talks very fast and uses confusing analogies.
Dr Ali makes coming to lectures exciting. He makes material very easy to understand and learn and explains himself very well. I would definitely take a class with him again, highly reccommend!
Dude. I am telling you this right NOW, if you are reading this, TRUST ME. Please TAKE his course. Don't hesitate. He will probably be one of the BEST profs you will ever have. He makes it exciting to go to class. I actually wake up every morning to go to his 9am classes. He is so passionate about what his teaches.. BEST PROF EVER!
great prof and great lectures with brilliant analogies that help with difficult concepts.
He is one of the most amazing, smartest, funniest, and caring professors at YorkU. His slides ARE SO ORGANIZED and the way he explains concepts is just amazing!! If you focus during class and take notes you will do GREAT.
Amazing professor. Explains the toughest concepts with such ease and clarity. All you do is attend lectures and you've basically studied. 10/10 lectures
AMAZING PROF! slides were sooo clear and easy to follow. He is organized, and the midterms were very fair. 10/10. fabulous course.
Highly recommend.
Such a good professor, he makes you so intrigued and focused unlike other professors that make u bored.
I have never complained about any professors during my couple years at university so I feel really bad :( hes a very smart man but i dont think he realizes we dont know the content like he does and he explain as though we already have a degree of understanding about the content. the way he goes into explaining a concept is incredibly confusing
Come to lectures, listen to what he says and you will get everything you need to ace the course. First test was a breeze
He makes you interested in the most boring topics, and his analogies are funny.
He uses extremely simplified analogies for complex material, and unless you need this course for grad school, if it's outside of your major, do NOT take it!!!
made human physiology fun and easy, look forward to his lectures
Dr. Satar is an amazing prof. You can tell he is super passionate about his work, which makes the class engaging. However, there are 3 exams each worth 30% & they are difficult. The class was interesting, but just a lot of complex information. The average for the class is usually low, like high 60's, so just think twice choosing it as an elective.
He made lectures engaging which was good cause I wasn't too fussy on the topics we learned AT ALL
Prof was fun and enthusiastic, if you want to get an easy A or A+ in this course go to the pass session with Kian Kaveh, he provides super helpful and realistic mock test. Overall, if you put in effort, you will see results. Test questions are sometimes tricky or wordy, but slowing down to read will help greatly.
His lectures were oversimplified which did not align with test difficulty.
