he is very easy and yet very funny, he is very into art quite boring but u wil enjoy his attitude...
He is a very nice person, his tests are hard though. But he gives plenty of extra credit. I would recommend him.
you will never find a teacher like ali. he is very helpful, laid back, sooo in to art you can't help but to get in to it as well. tests are not easy but he gives plenty of extrs credit. if you want to get more out of your college experience make sure to take this guy, you won't regret it.
very cool teacher, interesting person. can compromise with him. shows a lot of slides, which makes u fall asleep. tests are hard.50+ m/c questions, which hav nothin to do with his lecture. brings too much of his left wing attitudes to class (not cool).
very easy class. laid back but very hard test. none of his test have to do with anything he lectures about
Ali is a great professor! yes, I agree that the test are xtra hard however he allows you to do extra credit. Also, the lectures are NOT on the test; therefore be prepare to ask questions in class and take notes but in overall he is a great instructor. He knows his material very well and makes the cl
Very nice man, grades easy...ONLY IF YOU ATTEND... he is very serious about attendance, you can fail every test but show up evry day and turn in the papers and get at least a B.
WORST Art hist prof ever. His lectures are rambling and don't have anything to do with the exams. Almost everyone failed the exams and he had to curve it up. I ended with an A after tons of extra credit but come on, Art is supposed to be fun and interesting. Avoid at all costs!!
he is a very nice teacher
I Loved & enjoyed his class! This teacher makes u think twice about art. His exams r difficult, but if u show up to class & show that u r at least trying- he will not fail you! Lots of xtra credit.
easy pass this class
Great guy! Gives a good amount of extra credit. Tests are not too easy and you will have to write about 3 papers. Lots of slides. He's very passionate about art and it shows! Don't take this class if you don't want to work and don't expect an easy A!
couldn't understand him and after every sentence he said "you know"
He is very hard to understand, has a thick accent. He bounces all over the place so you can't really follow along. A nice man but not a good teacher. I wouldn't recommend at all. Tests are really hard
While he is very knowledgeable about all art forms he does not seem to care about his students opinions, that makes me not want to speak up. He is tedious and keeps you until the last SECOND of class, b/c he "feels bad" if he lets you go early. He tries and he's nice but it's not enough. He gives extra credit b/c no one tries hard on the tests.
Very passionate about art. Very knowlegeable as well. Test are hard, but he is reasonable if you keep an open communication with him. Attendance is a big deal. Participation is important if you want to achieve an A in his class.

you cannot understand a word he is saying. He expects you to know things he never has even talked about. If you want to gain some knowledge DO NOT TAKE HIM.
****in awesome teacher!!!! This is my second time taking his class and I feel he offers a refreshing liberal opinion with the knowledge to back it up. He is extremly passionate about the material and easy to talk to. I am a semi-slacker and I got an A{tests are not that hard if you pay attention and he offers extra credit throughout the course)

This guy knows what he is talking about. Just pay attention in class. Do the extra credit and you will pass
chillest teacher ever
Good teacher he will help you pass if you work with him. do the extra credit and interact in class and trust me u will pass

He's a real easy teacher. Gives no homework other than activities. He's willing to help students pass the class. Go to class everyday and you'll pass.
This teacher is very unorganized in grading and teaching. Judges you on the basis of your art skill and his veiws on art. His grading rubic is unclear and changes upon his mood. If you have no time for the extra credit, then you're pretty much getting a B or lower.
HE LIKES TO TALK ALOT. HE IS VERY HELPFUL IN MANY WAYSHE IS KIND AND WILLING TO HELP IF U ARE WILLING TO LEARN.
this teacher is ok. his test start to get little harder later on the semester but he is ok gives u a lot of extra credit do all of them if u have time if not than u r passing with b or c
this proffesor is very helplful and sometimes allows you to turn in work a bit late although he is unclear in point deductions overall hes somewhat cool will compare other student work to yours test are not so difficult. WARNING DONT SLEEP IN HES CLASS!
way hip and modern, if you are a conservative you may not want to take his class. He is a teacher to look up to and an inspiration to many students; his passion is infectios!
He is very nice and helpful. If you could not get an A in his class, that was your problem.
Definetly one of the best teachers I've ever had. He's so intellegent, and passionate about art, politics, and history. He makes you want to push your self and work hard. He grades very fair and his tests are cake.
This guy's a jackball. I couldn't even understand most of what he said. And everytime he walked by, a cloud of body odor followed (and I am not joking). I had to drop the class because his accent made it too hard for me to understand his "lectures".. as I use the term loosely.
Please do not talk in his class or come to class late or else he will put you "on blast." He is extremely passionate about art history and it is very easy to get an A in his class as long as you apply yourself. He introduces subjects that would make anyone want to become an artist.
need A ,,,take this class you dont have to study more than 5 hours in the whole semester to earn an A..... try not to miss his class .. lots of extra credit..
Knows Art History BUT haphazard-pushes off tests dates, papers are unclear, and can't work ahead (procrastinates everything to the final few weeks). Long winded, lectures to us about his feminist club & I Don't care about those who are absent...I showed up... so teach already! DOES NOT LISTEN - treats me like H.S. Student; I'm 30! BTW I am an Artist B4 & after dropping this class.....he DOES NOT inspire me to be an artist. When I dropped, he was 1 month behind in material (hadn't hit Picasso yet with only 4 weeks to go!). Don't take him if you truly want to learn about this era of Art History!
Hes such a good teacher! I took him for the winter, and even though the class was pretty intense, i have to say that he was one of those professors that through history, he shows you a different perspective. He is a very interesting guy! Class wise: it was kinda hard, tests were fair, and everything was clear. Gives study guides, study those well!
This guy is the worst teacher i've ever had. He says el camino classes should be just as hard as UCLA or Harvard. He is the most annoying teacher. He doesnt know how to speak, there's a reason it's spell war not Var, and the last time i checked vulnerable is not pronounced WONERABLE! Seriously if you dont have to DON'T TAKE HIS CLASS!!!!!!
loves the subject loves life. teaches it as knowledge and not memorizing facts.
he's a really nice guy, he's extremely passionate about art. his class be boring at times but its an easy A plus he's someone you must meet!
Ali Ahmadpour is a good professor because he is so passionate about what he does. He presents slides and powerpoints and talks quite a bit but its mostly all interesting if you are an art enthusist.
Mr. Ahmadpour is really nice and his class is very easy.the exams are very easy and the study guides are very helpful. He also provides the students lots of extra credits. I admit his lecture is pretty boring but its very easy to get an A in his class.
He is nice, but his lectures sucks. he is confusing sometimes, so if you plan to take this class, BE PREPARE for him talking the entire time for two hours striaght. Make sure to study because whatever he lectures sometimes does not cover what is gonna be on the test. GOOD LUCK!
man unless u really love the history of mexican art dont bother you will fall asleep I hated it!

Great teacher, passionate about art. You will enjoy his class if art is your field. If not, you may find it boring. Very engaging, and easy to pass class. Study the study guides, his lectures may not always cover what is on the exams. Has a heavy accent, so beware if you aren't tolerant of that sort of thing. Smart guy, highly recommend this class.
He is a very sweet teacher and he is always available for help. He is also understanding on grading. His lectures are a little bit boring but he is very lenient on tests, and if you take good notes during the lectures, and read the chapters it isn't so hard. I got an A but I studied a lot...slackers shouldnt take this class
Nice guy not a hard class but this class is not for the lazy. 2 Essays and a Journal is pretty much what the semester consisted of little hard to understand but, a really nice guy who loves to teach and loves what he teaches.
Nice guy, really helpful and no one knows this subject better. Went into class with little interest and now want to major! Take him! But only if your not lazy--you'll learn lots but will work for it
Very informative lectures, went beyond just art and into the historic context of the time period, as well as its modern day application. Wonderful class.
He is the BEST instructor I have ever had. He obviously loves art. As an activist and a Latina it made me proud that someone not Latino(he is from Iran)loves the art of my culture. This man is a must take if you are an artist,or love history or politics because they are all tied together everyday in his class will be exciting you will learn so much
GREAT. More professors should follow his teaching style. He is NOT boring thats for sure I learned alot. I recomend him highly.
he is very passionate about art. however, he does not cover the material that we will be tested on very well. he talks about things that are irrelevant to the class for a whole class period. i fall asleep in almost every class. i wouldnt recommend this class to anyone
great teacher! his lectures can get borning and it is easy to get him off subject.but, he is very knowledgeable about art and is very willing to help you!!
He is very talkative, but he is a sweetheart. Don't get on his bad side, and give him respect. With that into account, and you will get an easy A. Do your assignments on time and attend the trips. He will work with you.
Fantastic teacher. Great at what he does. Really knows the subject. Extremely friendly, smart, and helpful. If you have a brain and aren't a slacker, you can pass this class. He makes it easy to learn.
Ali is very passionate in his craft which is teaching.Knowleadgable in terms of art.Just don't be fooled with his ego, he just wants students to be in the right direction.I Absolutely recommend him.
Don't take this class if you're lazy or don't like people with accents. Do the work, attend class, you get the A. Pretty simple but some idiots just don't get it and waste class time with their bullsh-t
i didnt even want to take an art history class but i am so glad i did. his tests can be a little hard but he gives A LOT of easy extra credit. such a nice man and is very passionate about what he teaches which makes the class fun to go to. He is funny too. really laid back...el camino is lucky to have him!!! TAKE HIM!!!!! you will not regret it!!!!
if you go to class and just listen for an hour you get an A...even if you dont do well on the tests there are so many chances for extra credit. he's really nice and if you give him respect he will help you in any way he can. he likes people you participate!!!
i think it would be hard for anyone to get below a B in his class. he's really nice and wants to see people do well....all you need to do is the extra credit and study a little for tests...if you pay attention in class you dont even have to study...he always gives a study guide which is helpful too! :)
He is very nice and his class is very easy. He gives u so many opportunities for extra credits. Take this class! so easy.
He is really really nice and cares so much his students..He gives a lot of chances to get extra points and his test is not that hard if you study his study guide and take note during the lecture. take him!!
Ali is a good, solid teacher. We had two mid-terms and a final, two museum reports, one group oral presentation with research, a huge journal with 17 entries. NOTE: If you don't keep up with journal entries, you will not get them all done, and you will lose! If you are new to college don't take this instructor--very demanding, but worth it! :)
TAKE him. all i can say. keep up with journal, museum report, and LOTS of EXTRA CREDIT..TONS! you wont regret it. he is extremely nice to everybody....
my favorite teacher at el camino! he is one of the nicest people and he is always willing to help you if you show any interest. he gives a study guide before each test that really helps...there is a lot of extra credit which is really nice...i didnt do too well on my tests but did ec and still got an A. take him for art history!
Ali is very friendly and will compromise with you. He does want you to take something out of the class into the real world. Even if you do poorly on your tests but participate in class, you will do fine. Take him =)
Mr. Ahmadpour is an amazing teacher.Ask him questions and he will gladly answer them for you.I took him for winter 09 and it was a cool and easy class/subject.Just do your reading;study guides are provided a wk. before tests. He offers plenty of extra credit. He cares so much for his students. Thanks Mr. Ahmadpour.By the way my final grade was an A.
Loved this class! Love his lectures. I do not know why people say he is boring, it was so interesting to me and I'm an engineering major. He gives a lot of extra credit so take advantage of it!
Brilliant teacher. Entertaining & enthusiastic lectures! GREAT study guides, LOTS of xtra-crdt, answers your questions in depth, VERY available after/b4 class, LOVES art & his students. You MUST study for tests, attend lectures & take notes, as you usually do in college! Don't up & leave in the middle of class all the time, it's rude & he hates it.
Great teacher, interesting lectures, understanding, nice guy! Lots of extra credit, take advantage of it. Tests are probably 70% from the study guide (with the questions AND answers on them..mult choice) and the rest is from in class notes and a little from the book. Just go to class everyday, take notes, and study for your tests. Easy A. TY Ali!!!
Are we talking about the same teacher? This was the worst class I have ever taken in college. This instructor rambles on about nonsense most of the time and finally gets talking about Art. I would avoid this instructor at all costs. The material itself is interesting BUT the lectures are not. Also, the instructor has very liberal views, not good.
boring
he doesn't know how to speak English and bored!!! he never allow anyone do anything but only listen to his lessons
Lectures were extremely unfocused; took weeks to cover material scheduled for a day. He kept complaining about having to slow the course for non-Art History majors and he mocked people who wanted a rubric for the symposium. His attacks on people who dozed off were distracting and he tends to waste class time by going off topic.
Ahmadpour is one of the most understanding/nicest teachers at Elco! This class was boring/confusing, but it was definitely worth it. His tests weren't hard, but you have to study if you want to pass. He is knowledgeable and knows his stuff!
If you HAVE to take him, then make sure you take art 2 and 3 before hand other wise you will be lost. He over laps assignments as if we were only taking him. He pays more attending to the slackers then those who attend class. 1st exam was over a month later from original date.
Does not follow his own syballus. Lectures are all over the place.Stays on 1 slide for over 30mins & then blame us for falling behind. Only gives 1 week to prepare a group project that he doesnt give guidelines for it & excepts them to be great. His TA's correct all his work, so he doesnt know how any1 is doing. doesnt pass back work at all 95%
If you are looking for an easy B this is the class to take for Art. Beware though this was the most boring class I have ever taken. Not because the material is boring but because the lectures are unclear and confusing. Additionally, gives more attention to students who are asleep or using cell phone rather than there to learn. Do not take!
DO NOT TAKE! If you're not an art major and you need a class for art requirement take dance 1 with H.Lampe! you will not regret her! This teacher is not helpful, boring, mean, unclear, not there when you need him, unorganized! we pushed dates back on tests because he felt he hadnt covered everything. DO NOT TAKE!! I REPEAT DO NOT TAKE!
favorite
the WORST. spends the whole period calling out people who are sleeping or on their phones. then he starts giving us lectures on why we shouldn't disrespect him. it's completely useless to be there if you're not one of the people who's getting in trouble. i regret taking his class. would NOT recommend to any of my friends. boring & unorganized too.
the best teacher at elco!!! amazing! so nice and gives A LOT of extra credit...no way you can't get an A in the class. TAKE HIM!
Great professor. Easy class.Museum trip for extra credit over summer. Take!
He is so great!!!! he'll do anything possible to make sure you get an A in the class. He's very helpful and gives out a lot of extra credit. i definitely recommend taking this teacher.
Mr Ali is great! He would always push back the test if we didn't feel ready and he would go over the material one more time. His office hours are very flexible with students, although his tests are quite hard. You must pay attention to his lectures, and absolutely no cellphones. Overall a very great teacher.
Not helpful. Unclear on assignments. Tests differ from lecture. Tests based more on book. His lectures are mostly disorganized ramblings and boring. Had high hopes for this class and it's probably my most hated class after 5 semesters at El Camino.
I'd rather die then have to take this class again. The teacher is hard to understand, the tests are impossible and the first study guide for the test was 20 pages. If you're planning on taking this class, good luck. You'll need it.
He is one of the easiest and chillest teacher on campus. He doesnt assign hw besides the art journal and a group speech, museum report, and tests other then that, there was not much to do!I got an A in the class and didnt have to work for it. Anyone can pass just show up to class for slideshow notes everyday which will be for the tests
Easy because all you do is listen to his lectures, but he goes off topic constantly and ends up not even talking about art. Very disorganized and disappointing class. Loves to constantly look for people to point out Study guides have sample test questions, but the fill in part of the test is ridiculous. I would not recommend this teacher at all
One of the most passionate teachers you will ever meet on campus. There are few assignments and exams, but he is very caring for his students' grades and knowledge of the subject. One annoying factor, he interrupts class because he is highly irritable of sleepers and cell phone users. He will make a big ordeal, but nonetheless very interesting.
First all, don't sit on the front, he'll shower you! LoL He's very helpful, and somewhat understanding. Participate a lot (it's art, you can't be wrong) and go to class; believe me, he'll remember! He gives you e.c opportunities, which makes it easy to bump up to the next grade. He gives you study guides, answer `em && you'll do pretty well on test
Terrible teacher. Not fair with grading. Doesn't prepare you for tests. Lecture doesn't match tests.
very hard to understand. Most of the time you can't understand what he says. Always gets off topic. Gives a 15 page study guide in which you "Must memorize" but more than 3/4 of the stuff is not on the test. Don't bother studying because its not worth it. I will never reccommend him!
honestly, i took him during winter 09 term. hes pretty damn boring and fell asleep in class almost everyday. his tests werent that easy either from what I remember, but somehow i managed an A. he has accent and talks very boring but he was super nice about adding. he forced the dean to give him bigger room to add like 50 students. it was real nice
Wonderful teacher! He is brilliant and i have a lot of respect for Ahmadpour, a lot of people are very disrespectful in his class and take his niceness for weakness and then get upset when he asks them to stop, if i was him i would kick out half the students he tolerates! I really recommend him and he is by far one of my favorite teachers on campus
Wonderful professor. Really knows his material. If you take notes you will do fine on the exams. Reading is recommended but can be supplemental if you are a strong note taker. Lots extra credit opportunities.
Make sure you go to class and take notes. The test were somewhat hard because it was my first art history class but the study guide helped. He might not have the study guides anymore. He is nice but some students are disrespectful and mistake his kindness for being a pushover. Extra credit is given so take that opportunity for those extra point.
Ali is one of those professors that gets you interested in art even if you don't fancy it when you enter the class. He's really funny and very knowledgable about ancient civilizations, modernity, historical influences etc. don't even think about taking your phone out in class, expect to be called a jerk if you leave mid-lecture, you'll know lol
I enjoyed his wisdom so much I took art 1&4. This prof sets your mind ablaze w/ confrontational questions about existence, justice, freedom & our places in the world all relating to contemporary art history. For students that are interested in architecture, paintings, sculptures, psychology, etc as it's NOT just memorizing w/index cards to just pass.
he doesn't tell you what will be on the tests. wants to teach about the world, goes off topic, unclear as to what he expects. if choice, i would not take this.
ali is highly interested in the political side of art, and love it when his students are interested as well. tests are frustrating because they often contain questions not covered in class. lectures seem like random bits of information strung together under an umbrella topic. take detailed notes! however, he gets an A+ for caring about students.
Save yourself the trouble. Don't take art 4 if you haven't taken art 3. He is unclear of what he wants. His powerpoints & lectures are terrible. Is not straight-forward. Don't stress yourself out over a class a professor is making 5x's harder than it is in reality. Last time I checked it was a 3 Unit class, not 5 unit physics.
Accent so think you could cut it with a knife, unclear of his expectations, teaches the class likes its a UCLA class. Gives conflicting dates for work due, jumps around, expects everyone in the class is an art major, puts people on the spot that are obviously lost. Nightmare class, save yourself the trouble.
I took this class for fall because I heard it was an easy class. Honestly he does not lecture on what he puts on the test. If you want an A make sure you turn in all the assignments on time ESPECIALLY the journal. But overall his class was okay. He isn't boring but his accent is hard to understand at times.
I recommend this class only for those who are truly interested in the subject, otherwise you will have a hard time.I hardly used the txtbk, but actively took notes. His accent is difficult to understand, but you get use to it.If you have trouble, he's willing to help, just don't take advantage of his kindness.Do well on the symposium and you'll be fine.
This class is not easy. Not many assignments or homework, however what he does assign is difficult and time consuming. Very boring, power points and lectures. Nonetheless he is very knowledgable. Just be ready to get your head kicked around a bit...
Class consists of 1 1/2 hour presentations, 2 art exhibition papers, a 6,000 word art journal, and a symposium. The exams are based on notes, study guides, and readings.(Mostly names of artists) The class is not difficult but is time consuming and he yells at people for falling asleep or not paying attention.
Scattered professor.Lectures were long and seemed to have no logic behind them-lectured the whole class every day as he would jump from one topic to another that had no connection. Exams(mainly essay questions)were extremely hard as they were very detail oriented-styles, exact dates, movements.Unless you are an art major stay away from his classes!
He's really nice and understanding. Lectures are sometimes boring, test are a little complicated but as long as you do good in the presentation you'll pass the class! You don't even need the book.
Ali's enthusiasm for Art History could have been beneficial if he knew how to teach. He usually veers off in his lectures and scolds students on not showing the same enthusiasm he has on the topic. His lectures are a mix of irrelevant subject matter and test material while students have to discern on their own what needs to be written down.
Honestly this is the worst professor I ever had. I am a 3.5 student. Even if you study 5 hours per day , et ready to fail the test. He expects you to remember the names and dates of all the textbook. The worst part is that he does not tell you what you need to study plus does not allow notes . Stay away from this professor!
He has a passion for teaching and that's good. DO NOT USE your phones in class, he's very picky about that and will stop the lecture to make sure you are paying attention. He gives many chances so take them. Midterm and final are straight from the study guides he gives. Ask questions and give comments, he loves that.
All I have to say is that he's the worst. He gave me such a hard time last semester. Just don't take him please
Not the the professor to have for any class at all. If you want a failing grade and a disrespectful professor that will yell at you as an excuse, then you have found the right class if not, do not ask for him to teach any class that you are planning to take. it is not worth it.
He's alright. Just do your work and don't act like this isn't college.
This is the worst professor I have ever had. I am a 4.0 student and I wouldn't consider this class difficult but he is constantly interuputing the class to call out students who aren't paying attention and wasting the rest of the students time. He is unclear about his requirements and his lectures seem to have no underlying message.
When he teaches he's more about how we should protest our social norms which he gets distracted by when he lectures which is pretty annoying cuz he does it every time. He kinda is a jerk and will call you out on what ever mistake you do some of the vocabulary isn't even on his studyguide and his grading is mainly on the last 3 projects
Professor Ali is very good. I got A in this class when I did not expect it because I failed all the exams. However, this professor offers extra points and there is a lot of participation points. You'll pass with good grade if you attend this class. Also he likes when students are interested in his subject and participate.
The class is something like this: you sit there listening to him lecture about how a specific work of art relates to society. His class is pretty easy, but it can also be uninteresting at times. He points you out in front of the whole class if you leave early or get on your phone. Just do all the work and you'll do good.
Has a strict no phone rule. If he sees you check your phone he will stop class for 10 minutes and rant about how he hates technology. He also moves off topic quite often and so the discussions drag on about nothing related to the test material which he grades very heavily on.
Simply amazing! Took him for Art History 102B & 102C. Extremely passionate about what he teaches but I don't recommend him to those who want easy units. His tests are material heavy so take a lot of notes. Don't use phones/laptops in his class. Take him if you're serious about the topic or are an art history major. Offers extra credit.
Lectures go off topic most of the time but you will learn a lot. His tests consists of what's on the study guide he gives & can be a bit hard, they dont really have anything to do with the lectures just study the study guide & youll be ok. He grades the journals museum report & group project heavily so do a good job & youll pass. Participate too!
Professor Ahmadpour is an okay professor. He talks a lot and sometimes will go off on long tangents resulting in him having to push back assignments and tests (this actually happened with almost every assignment he gave). Make sure you do not fall asleep or get caught using your phone, as he WILL call you out and scold you in front of everyone.
It's a shame he is the only Art 102C professor, because he is not a good teacher. He constantly goes on tangents unrelated to the material. So much so that we had to do the final symposium on the day of the final. The projects are needlessly tedious and he never owns up to his mistakes. Avoid him if you can an hope he's not required.
Professor Ahmadpour is really passionate about the Art History and places a heavy emphasis on the politics of Art. His lectures may be hard to follow, but he gives a very detailed study guide before the tests. Show up to class, study, and do the few assignments and you should easily receive an A.
Definitely not worth taking again. He unnecessarily calls you out for even the slightest sign of using your phone and his lectures are long and not related to the test (he often goes off subject to the point I don't understand what we are actually discussing). So yeahavoid him if you can because it just isn't worthy your time unless its for credit
His lectures will either go off tangent on something unrelated to what the students are studying or he will over explain one piece of art. He is very stubborn, doesn't like to be called out on a mistake or misunderstanding. Exam reviews have WAY too much text and images to study but the exams itself are 25 multi choice and 4 image identification :(
One of the best professors I've had in college. I've taken three classes with this man and honestly I wish I could take more. A lot of people complain about him over explaining the art works but that's honestly one of the best parts of the class. Also he lets you pick your grade at the end of the semester. I would take him again and again.
His class is actually easy, all you have to do is read the study guide, review his class presentations and do your journal well and you'll be fine. His lectures are indeed very boring and they are not that important to pass the class but try to participate. He is surprisingly very caring and if you are having a hard time, TALK TO HIM!
His class involves a long and boring lecture. You have to visit an art museum for a project and you have to do a journal. Also, he stops in the middle of his lectures to scold someone who had to use the restroom. I was pregnant at the time and he still scolded me, well sorry for you not understanding what a pregnant woman has to go through.
He is extremely rude to students during zoom lectures and always believes he is right. The syllabus is extremely unclear, with most assignments still not graded and when asked about assignments or syllabus, becomes extremely defensive. Would highly avoid, but if needed for a major requirement take it somewhere else if possible!
He is an art teacher that takes the fun out of art. He lectures heavy gives way too much work for art class. He is picky about work tuned in yet doesn't give a template on what he wants. Gives you whatever grade he wants not what you deserve! Time quizzes with no time to think! If you want hands on fun informative art class DO NOT take this class.
This is probably one of the worst classes I've taken. I think it can be contributed to the fact that we are online now and Prof. couldn't get his information organized. His lectures are very boring and barely taught me anything. He is pretty rude to people when they ask questions in the lecture. He was generally an unpleasant professor. Beware.
The Professor is really rude. I emailed him about assignment he let me redo. On his third email to me he states This is the last time which I respond to this particular subject. I invested so much time to help you. like I was wasting his time!! At the end, he never regraded my paper that he promised to grade. I wish I dropped the class before!
One of the worst classes I've ever taken. Very disorganized does not stick to the syllabus, which leads to confusion that he never clarifies. He is an easy grader though but his attitude is not worth taking the class. He gets very defensive when you try to call him out on anything. Not a class worth taking please be careful and try to stay away!!
If you clearly follow his study guides and review them for an exam, you will have no worries. It was very hard for me to keep up with lectures while distracted in my home but his lectures are just review of those study guides he gives. What makes the class the most difficult is his work: he grades a few things and one mess-up can ruin your grade.
I didn't take exam 1 seriously and got down to a C, then brought it up slowly since he only has maybe 3 exams and a presentation. Very interesting professor with a passion for what he teaches. He goes overtime in class because he loves art history. STUDY before exams. As much as lectures seem significant, the study guides are the go-to's for exams.
I had emailed him to talk about my grade and instead, he talked about how I wasn't putting in enough work and continued to pick at why he didn't like the project I summited instead of giving good critique. I sat through a whole hour of this and cried because of how he was describing my work "in his opinion". This is not what a professor should do
Admittingly, Professor Ahmadpour can be different from all of the other art historians in El Camino. However, When had him in FALL 2021 and finished the class, he was very hard to understand especially with the brochure project. However, if anything, It's best to take him online...If he does online anymore, Anyways, Just be prepared with him.
This Professor offers a free etext book. It's history, so lots of reading. A few assignments, a term paper and 3 exams. Responds quickly to canvas messages and is very encouraging! Stay on top on your reading and take notes and you'll do great. Really such a nice professor who wants you to succeed!
This teacher gives you no support, very few assignments, and could care less about your educational outcome. He gives no lectures, and will only assign textbook reading or give you links to articles or videos. This teacher will create no content himself because in my opinion he's lazy. Won't post tests on time,
In general, he was an amazing professor, his course was mainly lectures and he would hardly leave any homework assignments. I took this course in the fall and I only recall 3-4 homework assignments and a final project, so this course is an easy A!
Just don't take him you have other options, I did and regretted it. He will ask questions and whatever you say won't be right. He will then say that answer is wrong and answer the question himself. 9/10 times you were right but for some reason, he won't say it and instead explain what you said. He also doesn't give enough support.
Excellent prof. early on you will realize how much he knows about the subject. His lectures are interesting, but he will go on tangents here and there (he's just passionate about the subject). Few assignments and doesn't mind giving you the A if you put in the work. Show up to class, take light notes, do the work, and you'll be good.
He seems like a nice guy, at least, but his teaching is very average. He likes to go on rambles and allows interruptive students to speak as long as they feed into his ego. Tried to tough out the class but he gives like four assignments to be graded on, which dips your grade if you get even two points off. Super opinionated/antisemitic.
Would just like to add, one time had to sit through a two hour lecture where he did not lecture and bounced a topic off of an interruptive student with pleasure. Wasted the rest of his student's time. This class barely accounts for Art History when he can't even manage his lectures to the point where he actually teaches it.
Ali is nice. He made the exams pretty easy, but just be aware that you have to put in a lot of writing. During lectures, I could feel my soul leaving my body, b
Professor Ahmadpour is passionate about art history, though his lectures can be long-winded. The free textbook helps, but staying on top of readings and using study tools like Unstuckstudy are key to success. Overall, an interesting course if you're willing to put in the work.
