dr bazzi actually made me love chemistry! he's that good! even though his tests are challenging he goes the extra mile in making sure that EVERYONE is up to speed on class topics. plus his cheesy jokes are way too funny.

Dr. Bazzi grows on you--that's all I can say. He's extremely committed to making sure each and every student understands what's going on before he moves to a new subject, and his tests are straight forward and to the point.

Very overrated. He is extremely hard to understand. The way he grades is unknown. You have no idea how you are doing in the class (good luck asking what your grade is). He loves embarassing people. HORRIBLE TEACHER!

Dr.Bazzi is very nice and very funny, but in a cheesy sort of way. If you don't understand something he'll explain it until you do. He really knows what he is talking about and his quizzes in recitation are very straight forward.

Bazzi is the man, no question. Had him for lab in G Chem and lecture in Quant. Cares that you learn, and is very clear in what he wants. Teaches quality compared to quantity. His exams come right out of the material he teaches you and the homework. Work at it and you'll get an A.

This is as bad a chem teacher you will find in the department and that includes smith and lawson. Not only can he not teach a damn thing but his exams are a bunch of bs questions that dont test your knowledge of chemistry. u would be advised to not take this prof for any class.

He is a good instructor, but there really is no real curve or anything. He grades strictly on his own scale and does not move around it. He is a tough grader and most students end up with a solid C in his class.

This guy is plian terrible! Good studetns that study hard ended up with C's. He is also a liar saying their would be a curve but in turn just gave everyone what they got and didnt care the average was below a C+.

He is a very good lab instructor and really knows his stuff when it comes to instrumentation. He is a fair grader and really listens to his students opinions on things like test days and such. He is highly recommended for any course with a lab.

Worst prof I ever had. Changed my major to bio because I didn't want anymore classes with him. Does not grade fairly. Is difficult to talk to and very condensending, unwilling to help. Class period is 50 minutes long tests take at least 1h 15min when he kicks us out.

He is the one of the best chemistry teachers. He is extremely helpful and tries to spend more time with each student. This class requires lots of time for labs, quizzes, lab reports. Definitely it's worthy... Even though he is known for a long final but if u study, u will be fine..

Bazzi sucks. He is a terrible teacher. People who think he is great do not understand that he has a nasty attitude outside of school. He goes home and talks about students he doesnt like. I overheard him once talking about another student's work. Dont take him.

This is probably his first term teaching at UMD. I would say hes by far the most lenient prof. Calc 2 is tough. He makes it as easy as possible. 3 Exams(45%), Final(30%). Do all your homework(25%). He drops lowest of the 3 exams if you do better in the final. Recommended and he allows cheat sheets!!! Only compliant..More time during exams.

Dr. Bazzi is a great professor. The c344 class is big.Hes better at teaching smaller classes, he gets to know you your habits and caters to that. He is MORE than helpful. Yes his exams are outrageously long.Get over it. I have never witnessed him be condescending to anyone! I've never seen so many crybaby comments, time to grow up kids,this isnt HS

Great Teacher, Very Flexible, Accommodating, Work and test are easy, drop lowest quiz for you, it you test higher on final than any test, it replaces that grade for you, EXCELLENT TEACHER.!!.

TAKE HIM! TAKE HIM! TAKE HIM! Allows cheat sheets on tests and gives extra credit! very nice guy and wants students to succeed. counts homework, labs, and attendance for 25% of the grade. replaces lowest test score, if you do better on the final. Barely tried and I got an A-. Imagine if you put in some effort. Bottom line..hes great TAKE HIM!

Wow..this guy is annoying. If u feel like doing lots of studying..and I mean LOTS, u might be able to do well in his class. Very hard and unfair grader. I think he likes to draw big red marks across ppl's exams. Powerpoints=lecture. I wouldn't reccommend, but then again I am not a veryyy hard worker. :( No curve. 19 or 20 page final took 4.5 hours

Great Teacher. nice, funny, keeps his lectures entertaining (needs to learn pp better), extremely polite and respectful to students. answers questions thoroughly, gives extra time on exams (they are long though). still need to study, but come on, its school. highly recommend.

This professor is honestly the best professor i've had so far at umd. He made chemistry so easy, and i went in thinking it was going to be super hard and that i wouldn't understand anything, but he really takes time to help you understand and always does his best to answer questions to the best of his ability.

Wow, what an amazing Professor. I actually had a math phobia and avoided it until now, in my senior year. Prof. Bazzi is extremely clear, organized, and takes time with his students to make sure they understand and are following. Grades on attendance, homework, tests (4) and a final exam. The final exam grade and replaces your lowest test grade.

This is the worst professor I have came across during my college career.Ask a simple question, he'll diss you and say "It's ok".His quiz questions have nothing to do with the concepts taught in class/lab/rec. OMG...i hate this guy soooOo much. HORRIBLE PROFESSOR. I can't believe a highly ranked university has such schitty professors

He seems confused, and then he confuses everyone else. He can be hard to understand. He gets frustrated if you don't understand what he says, but he keeps saying, "It's okay!" He can be a tough grader too. Read ahead. Participate and ask questions and you should do well.

Exemplifies why proffs should not have tenure. Interested in tricking not teaching. Tests are designed to trick you not test your knowledge. Resents questions asked in class and is not in his office during office hours. Question him and he will grade you harder. He reads straight off his power point. If you can avoid this man, do so!

I had this prof for recitation.Here is the honest to god truth: He is one of the best professors at the uni. He is EXTREMELY knowledgeable and clear. Yea, he looks a little confused sometimes but that's because he's so interested in chem.He loves his job.My lecture prof was an idiot, but this guy helped make things clear for me.highly recommended!

This guy should be teaching 136 instead of smith. He was my recitation prof, and was BY FAR better than smith. You don't have to READ the book, just have it with you becuz you do questions out of it. Make sure to ask alot of questions, because he WILL answer them clearly.

Dr Bazzi tells students what he expects them to know and what they should pay attention to. He gives practice exams and quizzes as well. However, he does not provide information efficiently and his exams are very long. Pay attention & do practice problems and you should do well. Not hard, but if not motivated to learn you might have problems.

I only gave him 5 points for easiness because he lets you use half of a sheet of paper to write whatever you want on it for the tests.The material you have to cover is the same difficulty regardless of the teacher. He is the nicest teacher i have ever had, and every class he emphasizes how much he cares about us doing well.VERY HELPFUL AND WILLING

He is very helpful and compassionate towards the students. He always tries to make sure we understand the material, since it's actually a difficult class. Always asks if the class feels confident and ready for the exam, if not he'll postpone!Overall good professor.

He's friendly and open to questions. He does talk very quickly; just make sure you write down everything that he puts on the board. There are four tests (you can use notecards), and you get points for homework and attendance. If you do well on the final you can drop your lowest test grade and replace it with your final grade. I recommend him!

Well, lab with this guy is a big mess, atleast for 136. Those labs are confusing, and he doesn't explain them clearly. And the prelab quizzes don't help raise your grade one bit, the WHOLE CLASS guesses on them. He is ok for recitation, but pay attention to him, not the goons in ur class. But for lecture, he would be the best chem prof at umd.

Not the hardest math prof, but not easy. Cheat sheet on tests,but tests are hard questions compared to hw. Attendance REQUIRED,I got an A- and had 5% higher than any other student before the final. Tough A/A- but reasonable B for effort.

This is a great instructor but needs to learn how to cope with his stress. He keeps slamming the board with the edge of his hand while explaining, and talks with a very tense style. If he could avoid that, the class would be able to pay alot more attention to him. ASK QUESTIONS, because he won't just spoonfeed you.

Absolutely the worst professor I've had at UM-D. Simply put, he speaks broken English and makes a lot of mistakes when teaching the material. He explains concepts using only mathematical proofs and not relating them to what they really are. I was always a week behind trying to learn on my own. He shouldn't be teaching.

Pros: He curves, uses some of the same problems from sample exams,kind of nice.Cons:very boring, long tests,always makes mistakes when grading, gets frustrated when you ask a ? on the test, his final is impossible to complete its 20 pages long aand worth 260points which is more than your whole lab grade. Gave us 4 hours to complete. No one finished

Avoid. The 4 hour final just felt like I was taking the MCAT. Take this class at another university if you could, cause he's the only decent chem 136 instructor this university can offer. This guy is COMPLETELY nuts.

He's a great math professor, I took calc 2 in the summer and he worked us hard, but he helped us out a bunch. Cheat sheets for the tests and fair grading. If you have any problems he is more than willing to help you out.

WORST PROFESSOR EVER! Do not take! He gives you absolutely no chances to do well in the class. No extra credit is offered, no curving, and no study guides. Replaces lowest exam with final exam score. I taught myself all the material and his exams consist of about 10 questions covering AT LEAST 2 chapters...so you don't know what to expect AT ALL!

I would not recommend this professor. His English is broken, and he has to stop to rephrase, so it's hard to understand. His lectures are disorganized. He gives no test prep and grades harshly, so I'm doing poorly even though I took this class in hs. Other than the final, there's no way to redeem your grade. The good: he's nice and stays on topic.

HE IS NUTS! He talks way too fast, all he does is reads you his slides (which sucks). Can hardly understand him when he talks. Grades like an idiot. Will give someone 1 point off and if another person did the same thing they could get 5 off. But, if you teach yourself, it is a passable class. STUDY HIS SAMPLE EXAMS! EXACTLY LIKE EXAM GIVEN!

He is not a good teacher. He kills when someone is trying to ask a question, he keeps interupting by saying its ok..its ok. We know it's ok to ask? Then the thankyous problem... and other stuff besides his boring lectures. Need to teach your self to do ok. I worked reallllly hard an passed with a C+!!!

Prof. Bazzi seems strange at first, but hes actually a genius, teaching calc 1 up to differential equations. Hes there to help throughout the difficult process of learning math, equipped with a lot of knowledge and problem solving skills. You have to review the sections in the book after class but there is always guidance + set expectations. Recmnd

I'd heard a lot of great things about Professor Bazzi, but this semester i dont know why he overworked himself to teaching 7 courses. It highly affected every class. Friends of mine who had taken him before, and others who had heard good things were all disappointed. EXTREMELY nice man though, and if you really put the effort you could do good.

Dr. Bazzi is easily one of the best profs at UMD. The only way you can do badly is if you dont give a crap, but he provides you with the means to do well (accessibility, practice tests, recitation). Hes super nice and is so appreciative of questions. He really wants you to learn. Awesome! Dont listen to the other reviews

Prof Bazzi was one awesome professor. Really helpful and made sure that you understood the concepts before he moved on. Read his ppt slides and do the practice exams because his real exams are very similar. Nice guy overall who uses "thank you for asking your question" a LOT but I would def take this guy again for any chemistry class.

How great is this guy, seriously. He has a good sense of humor, very easy going and relaxed. Always looks sharp and is obviously passionate both about students and about chemistry. Take him for sure if you are ever presented the opportunity, you will probably enjoy yourself quite a bit

You will have no problem with his teaching style if you have had Calculus in high school. If you are like me and have never taken Calc then I wouldn't recommend this professor. I wrote down everything he said, did all the non-required homework, had two tutors and still struggled.

Bazzi was a nice and helpful professor, but he had a thick accent that was difficult to understand at times. I didn't understand math in generaI so I spent a lot of time studying for this class and pulled off a B- at the end.

Dr. Bazzi was an ok professor. He has powerpoints posted online. His exams were a bit difficult at times, but he hands out practice ones that help alittle. Also, he requires everyone to come to class. He remembers names and faces so if you dont show up to class, he will confront you if he sees you. Otherwise, I would recommend him over others

Bazzi is great. Accent can be hard to understand, but that goes away quickly. He can be scattered in his lectures, but he is very knowledgeable and focused on ensuring everyone in the classroom learns. Do the homework, pay attention in class, and ASK QUESTIONS, and you will do fine. Bazzi truly cares that everyone learns.

Dr. Bazzi is a great guy, he genuinely cares about his students and wants them to understand the material. In lecture he tells you exactly what he expects you to know for the exams. He is pretty funny, but his lectures are kinda all over the place, definitely print out the lecture notes instead of trying to write as you go. Lab is tough but fun

He also has the patience of a saint, given the continuing bombardment of questions we threw at him. Yes, it's a tough class. No, it's not impossible.

Dr Bazzi will always meet with you if you have questions. The lectures might be long but he cracks some good jokes in class. Mastering chemistry is used for homework and that requires a new code so don't buy a used book and expect to be able to use it.

Dr. Bazzi is very nice, but his lectures can be very long and scattered. You will have to teach yourself a lot of things on your own, but he will always help you during office hours! He is very funny and makes class as enjoyable as possible. I recommend taking him! Make sure to do Mastering Chemistry homework, it is worth a lot!

Makes the first two exams a breeze and then completely ruins any chances of an A by making the third exam and final nearly impossible. He also doesn't curve even when 34 of the class fails. He's a nice man but definitely doesn't make it easy to get an A. Very hard to understand, I taught myself every concept. Probably would not take again.

Bazzi is a nice man, and out of all the professors teaching Chem 136 hes the best. The first two tests if you study you will get an A. The last test is hard only because he gives you 2 weeks to study for it compared to a month for the other two and its the hardest chapters we cover. Expect to teach yourself and establish a relationship with him.

The guy is such a wonderful teacher! You can automatically tell how much he enjoys teaching the subject. He also genuinely cares about his students. He will stop and make sure you understand before he moves forward. Test are very similar to his practice test. If you put some effort into it, getting an A or A- is not impossible! He is awesome!!

One of the BEST and my favorite professors at UMD! He loves teaching and tries his best to help students understand the material and pass. Passes tests back in office to each student individually and talks to each student about his/her test individually which really helps! Easy exams. Just study his slides and u will get at least a B! dnt need book

Dr. Bazzi is one of the best profs I have ever had. He makes class interesting and is always willing to answer questions if someone is confused. He provides lots of great examples during his lectures as well. The tests are very straight forward and are very similar to the practice exams. Don't need to read the book, just review his lecture slides

His class for me wasn't easy but I loved him as a professor. He knows what he's doing, makes the class interesting, and loves teaching it. He goes pretty fast but if you're lost or behind just ask and he's always more than happy to stop to explain it for you. He always does his best to make sure everyone's questions are answered

Bazzi is the best! Accent hard at first but you get used to it. Rather funny once you get his humor. He is extremely helpful and committed to help everyone succeed, even if you don't think you can! Honestly asks for suggestions on best lectures, class structure. Ask questions, get up and do problems on the board, visit during office hours. LEARN!

This is the Calc Bazzi, not chem, they are different. It is hard to explain why you have to take again. His class was tough, I didnt like the way he taught and is all over the place with corrections. That being said, he allows a calc, cheat sheet and replaces your worst exam w/ your final score so if you arent confident in your memory, take him.

Bazzi is great. His accent can be hard to understand at times and he moves really quickly, but if you simply ask for him to repeat something or slow down he will do so right away. He cares about his students and wants you to pass. He likes to make class fun and you can tell he loves teaching.

Lectures are clear. Doesn't make himself available for help. Expects recitation to answer your questions. Gives many ways to earn points. Knowledgeable and expects a lot. I did it over 7 weeks and wouldn't recommend it unless that's all you want to do all day everyday. Its worth taking with him and I've had a lot worse.

Gives in class assignments on random days and gives credit for attendance so come to lecture. Gives Super clear slides, study guides and practice quizzes on canvas. Uses mastering Chem. Very knowledgeable. Overall great professor!

Here's an honest rating. Dr. Bazzi is a very nice and caring professor. The only thing is his lectures are hard to understand and goes through them very quickly. So you basically have to read the book and teach yourself,sorry. But he gives extensions on the mastering chemistry homework and he is not a tough grader. Its hard to get help from him tho

Good Professor, however, you will have to teach yourself a lot of the material. You will need to study days in advance for exams, and complete the homework to learn the material. The first 2 exams are easy, make sure you get an A. The 3rd one is much harder. The final exam is easy just a lot of information you have to know. Grade: A-.

Very condescending & expects you to know the material. Started with a packed class of 32 & ended with 12, that should speak volumes. He's not prepared and doesn't keep to the syllabus. He's constantly doing problems incorrectly. Watch your grades, marks correct answers wrong. Didn't input grades in Canvas, you were responsible for your grade.

need access code for homework (40ish probs per chapter & cover 8 chapters) hilarious & makes jokes throughout lecture. exams mimic practice exams and sometimes uses same questions. 3 exams + final. final is 3 hours & 16 pages. everyone says 3rd exam is hardest but i did better on it than the first exam. if you dont take him, youre missing out

Class does not go as planned, test dates change a lot, even the day you come in. Very hard class, but math is difficult for me. He is a fair grader. Tests are free response, but around 10 questions. Be ready to teach your self. Very difficult and stressful class. New book is mandatory due to required access code.

Here's how to get an A: go to lecture, understand the masteringchem (some exam questions he takes straight from there),do the book homework,understand the powerpoints and the practice exam. 3 exams that aren't hard if you study. The final make sure you start studying early, bc it's a lot. Always willing to help, so ask if you have questions.

If you want an A you have to do work outside of class. Understand the mastering chem and do the book problems. The tests are exactly like the practice exams he gives out. He wants all of his students to succeed and isn't out to trick them. Also randomly gives in class exercises and sometimes passes out an attendance sheet so show up to lecture!

He is a really funny professor and he wants you to pass his class. He knows what he is talking about when he is teaching it to you and is more than willing to provide clarity. Practice exams are similar to the exams and he explains the labs before they happen during his lectures.

Bazzi is your best bet at getting an A in Chem 136. Gives lengthy due dates for mastering chemistry. 3 exams and a final(very hard 17pages)! Study and prepare a while before and you'll do fine. Exams are mostly multiple choice. In class exercises are very important. I suggest you find a friend if ur not going to class so that they can sign you in.

He's a fair grader. Helps you as much as possible. Willing to do whatever it takes to make sure you're grade reflects your ability. I would take him again, for sure. I do recommend him. As long as you respect him and do your best in class, it is very hard to fail. Study b4 tests, and do all practice test. do not hesitate to ask him anything.

Professor Bazzi is a great professor. Chemistry is a difficult subject so the difficulty of this class really has nothing to do with him. In fact he makes it easier than usual. Make sure you know how to do the practice exams because they are extremely similar (uses questions from there sometimes). I would definitely recommend him, he's also funny

Professor Bazzi geniunely cares about his students. In order to get your test grades back you have to go to his office, so he gets to meet you and see your progress in the class. He will answer any questions you have and actually wants you to succeed even when the subject material is hard. He is good lecturer too and likes to joke around sometimes.

I think he thinks, life revolves around his class. The worst experience Ive had with a professor. He comes off as intimidating and made me feel too uncomfortable to explain any situation with him. He was rude to me, and I felt really disrespected. As a teacher hes alright, but as a person, I have nothing nice to say about him.

I think it is very difficult to have him in a large lecture setting. He didn't use a microphone, so it was difficult to hear. The lecture was difficult to follow. I felt he was very compassionate to students. Tests were average. Final was very difficult. Understand the material taught towards end of the class for sure. Grades were never posted.

Dr. Bazzi is a decent professor when it comes to lecturing, however when it comes to being a person, he's not very good in that area. Always tries to make the class laugh with the same unfunny jokes, and is passive aggressive towards students, making them feel stupid. Exams are easy, even the final, they're just long. I would advise you take Dr. B.

His lectures were pretty useless, i taught myself everything. do all of the online hw and practice tests. Also study the power points in detail, he throws tiny details from them on his exams. Practice tests are a little similar to his exam but he does throw trick questions on his exams. Overall, an okay professor. lots of work needed to do well

Was a very compassionate and knowledgeable professor yet felt as if he thought we had a PhD in chemistry. Exams are difficult and require you to know just about every detail of the subject matter. Lectures went by very fast and were sometimes hard to follow along so I was teaching myself the whole semester.

In comparison to your other options at UMD, he is one of the best. Very knowledgable and helpful during his lectures as he always takes time to ask for questions. He actually wants you to do well and is willing to help, but he will make you work for it. Make sure to read powerpoints carefully before each exam and come into lecture having read ppt.

The way he lectured just didn't do it for me. I only showed up to class because of the sheets he handed out. I learned from his ppoints, & MastChem and Rec problems are assigned for a reason. He's intimidating but also nice/funny at the same time. His practice tests are very similar to exams, test yourself multiple times. Tough class but doable

He knows how to teach and cares about students. He will give many opportunities for extra credit. The HW is very long and if you wait till the last second you probably wont finish. Tests are fairly easy and he tells you what is going to be on them. There is webwork but it is easy as well. He is a good guy and I would take him for other classes

Bazzi is a good choice for chem 136. He truly cares about the students' success, but his lectures are somewhat boring. He was not very accommodating for myself and other university athletes. He wouldn't reschedule an exam that was during one of our games. (His policy was that our final exam score would replace the exam we missed).

Dr. Bazzi definitely one of the best chemistry professors at UMD. Study the PowerPoints and do the practice exams (which are very similar to the actual exam) and you should come out with an A in the class!

A really great guy. He wants all his students to pass, makes sure everyone is paying attention during lessons, He gave us extra credit on test for participating on discussion board. Ask quetions, DO THE HOMEWORK, Do not!! wait until the last minute you WILL NOT finish. Easy class if you show up and do the homework, learned a lot. Highly reccomend.

You want a professor that uses a mouse to draw on microsoft word? I'd probably learn more from a 2nd grader with a box of crayons because I would be able to recognize what they drew a lot better. I guess being a teacher doesn't have any standards or checks and balances. Students should be able to sue and get their money back from this college.

I had bazzi for chem when covid hit so the transition changed some stuff he stayed very organized and was always open to questions. I suggest reviewing the slides before lecture and then reviewing them after for consolidation. Focus on Mastering Chem, Book problems listed in syllabus, and practice exams; do them truthfully and exams will be easy

Chem is difficult at UMD they dont help make it better. No grades are in Canvas our final grade was just posted so idk how we even did anything. You study so hard but the tests are created to trick you, it was quite frustrating.

He's a good lecturer compared to many others I've had. He's got a lot of energy and is excited about the material so it's easier to listen. He also really cares about his students and wants everyone to do well. I find his tests to be long but they are exactly like the practice tests.

Great man. Had him for CHEM 136, CHEM 334, and CHEM 447 Motivated and full of energy so his lectures are engaging. He wants his students to succeed. His exams are long. So make sure to read his study guides. He is not an easy A.
