Ali is a great teacher, he is really enthusiastic and very dedicated to the class. He has handwritten solutions (not just answers) to every homework problem, and always has helpful handouts for class. He is a great teacher and I would already take him again. Riiiiight?
Ali is dedicated, enthusiastic, and VERY VERY NICE. The BEST teacher I've ever had. His hand written notes and homework solutions are extremely clear and helpful. Linear Algebra is mostly concept-oriented, but Ali does a great job relating terms and concepts. Really hope UCSD can have more awesome lecturers like him!
The best professor I've ever had in UCSD. His lecture is super clear and he provides EVERYTHING that is helpful to study this subject including class notes, handouts, and concepts sheet. He is a professor who love to teach, UCSD needs more professors like him.
Ali is like the greatest professor ever. His lectures are mandatory (8 AM *cry*) but you should go to them anyways because they're very clear and helpful. His review sessions are quite long (4-5 hours) but they're worth it. His exams are very similar to concepts in the review! He also offers extra credit if you go to office hours. SO GREAT.
Really nice guy, and obviously knows his stuff. He makes it easy to succeed through office hours and extending due dates for assignments so he can go over the material properly. Always does a review on the board at the beginning of class which is helpful is you miss a lecture.
Best Professor ever !!! Easy class if you take notes and go to his review session.
His dramatic changes in vocal pitch may be overwhelming for 8AM, but you can't blame the guy for being so dedicated and excited to teach his students. His review sessions are beyond helpful. His homework is a tad long sometimes, but he provides extensions and most of the solutions if you need them. Honestly, no math professor can ever top Ali.
Ali is a gift to the Math Department at UCSD. He is a very passionate, dedicated, and motivated lecturer. He cares about you, and is willing to make sure you understand the material. Lectures, review sections and discussions are very helpful. Exams/homework reflective of practice exams. Understanding/applying concepts is crucial to doing well.
Professor Behzadan is a Ph.D student who is very enthusiastic about teaching. Take all of his classes if you can. He is very clear and tells you exactly what his expectations are. If you are lost, just go to one of his numerous office hours and he will reteach you the entire concept. Best math teacher I've encountered here by far!
I believe Ali was and will be one of the best professors I have ever had at UCSD. He makes concise and easily understandable lecture notes, and he is one-hundred percent clear on what he expects on exams. Honestly, he'd have no problem reteaching the entire course to you if you ask him to, but going to class is super important!
Interested in having the students learn and the class doing well in the subject. Puts in a lot of time and effort, shown by holding 6 to 7 hour review sessions that are extremely helpful for his tests. He says "very, very, VERY IMPORTANT" when going over questions, indicating the question will be on the exam, so watch out for that ;)
Ali...really likes math. However, I disliked that to do well on the exams you had to sit through a 6 hour review session. Without the review session, especially for the final, it would be extremely difficult to do well. People say he is the 'best' math teacher, I personally would rate him as good, but he's not the best math teacher I've had at ucsd
Ali is one of the most clear, dedicated teacher I ever had in my life. Don't forget to go to his review sessions, you will get a guarantee A ;)
Ali is the man. You can tell he puts a lot of time and effort into his discussions. Take him if you have the chance.
I am overwhelmed with gratitude when I think of how much Professor Behzadan has helped me in my math 20C class for fall 14'. He's one of those teachers who you will appreciate regardless of the grade that you receive at quarter's end. His 5 hour review sessions really teach you more than just math that you can't learn by reading out of a book.
He is really nice
HE'S A GENIUS. HE'S AMAZING. YOU MUST TAKE HIM.
He is really nice and smart. His lecture is very clear. Strongly recommend. Just attend his lecture and review session, then you will get A
He's by far the best professor that the UCSD math department has to offer. He is nice and really cares for the well being of his students. He wants students to learn. This is my first rate my professor rating, and I only did it because Professor Ali deserves to be recognized.
GO TO REVIEW SESSIONS!
Amazing professor. He's incredibly dedicated to his students. He has office hours 4 days a week, and he offers 5-6 hour review sessions before every test on his own time. This guy is a Ph.d. student, and he took 10 hours out of his weekend. He didn't just carry me through this class; he picked me up and threw me over the finish line.
Ali is the best professor I've encountered in my college career. He is currently a PhD student, but I have no doubt that he will lead a successful academic career once he graduates. He also has his masters in Civil Engineering which allows him to give valuable insight on applications for the many engineers that take this course.
I have never met a more enthusiastic or passionate professor, I am so lucky to have had Behzadan for 20E and for 20F. Both of these classes could have been exceedingly difficult but Behzadan is clear with his expectations of you and clear in his lectures. He goes above and beyond to make sure that every student has the tools they need to succeed
The most involved, knowledgeable, kindest, and flexible professor I have ever encountered. Each day, he literally zooms across the classroom from one side of the board to the other explaining concepts that should be difficult to understand but makes very transparent, with such excitement stemming from his passion in the subject. Amazing man.
IMO hes overrated as far as how he teaches during lecture. I walked out of every class confused and didnt learn anything until i just decided to stop going the last 3 weeks. HOWEVER his Review Sessions are AMAZING. Definitely go to them bc whatever he covers during the review is whats gonna be on the tests.
Professor Behzadan is literally the best math professor I have ever had in UCSD.
Best maths instructor ever! Love Ali !
Ali is an amazing teacher. He definitely puts a lot of effort into his classes. For example he has a 3 hour review sessions before exams and is always willing to explain any material during office hours. He truly cares for his students and sacrifices a lot of his time to help the students understand the material.
His lectures are amazing, he teaches really well, and his tests are easy if you work properly and attend his helpful af review sessions. I would take this professor's class again if I do get the chance to do so in future courses.
He is definitely the best professor! He has a great passion for teaching. If you take his class, you may be discussed by his assent at first. But later on, you will be in love with course, solely because of him! Take is class!!!!
Ali is great. He posts all of his lecture notes online for you to copy down later; this allows you to actually learn. Attendance is sometimes checked. He has a billion office hours too, like an abnormal amount of hours. The tests are easy as you like. Most everyone I talked to got A's if they put in a tiny bit of effort. Definitely worth.
He is a dedicated teacher. He posts all his lecture notes with explanation online, post homework solutions (also with explanation) online, and host 4 hour review sessions for midterms where he pulls out specific problems for different concepts and go through step-by-step to explain everything. He is genuinely excited to teach. I love this guy!!
He is very nice and explains material well. The review sessions are extremely helpful, as are the homework solutions posted online.
Professor Behzadan is the best math teacher/professor I have ever had. Point blank. He is extremely helpful and dedicated to his students and is happy to answer any questions you may have. He explains concepts exceptionally well and his midterms are straightforward. He holds review sessions 3 times a quarter, which are very helpful. I love him.
Review sessions are the greatest things ever. Thank you Ali. Easiness is 3 because its a math class.
He is an amazing professor. He is very clear and writes out all the steps. Most professors have their TAs teach the review sessions but he actually teaches them himself. If I didn't learn the material in class well enough I would learn it in every review session. *As long as you go to the review sessions you are going to pass!
turn in physical homework. easy midterms. many problem sessions and review sessions. extremely energetic and willing to help. shows step by step how to solve problems. get to use a cheat sheet for each test.
He's a really great professor! His lectures are informative, and he always comes well prepared. You can tell he really cares about his students by the amount of time he puts into his preparation. Overall he's a really approachable and kind professor, I would recommend him to anyone!
He displays a concern and care for his students and makes himself available through office hours multiple times throughout the week. He also holds extremely helpful problem sessions once a week, and 4 to 5 hour review sessions before each exam. An amazing professor. Very animated, and his love and passion for math is very evident.
Such an amazing professor. Very enthusiastic about his work and very helpful if you have any questions. As long as you do the homework and attend lectures, you'll easily pass.
Pretty good instructor, and he makes me to be determinant to pursue a double major in Math-CS
Ali is an amazing lecturer and he makes himself so available to students outside of lecture that you'll never have a question unanswered. If you have the chance absolutely take a class with him.
Great Professor!!!!!!!!
Great Professor!!!! Very accessible instructor!!! Extremely approachable in his office hour!!!! Really care about his students!!!!
Ali was such an awesome professor. He really cares that we understand and you can tell he is passionate about math. At times he'd get so excited in lecture that the class can't help but laugh. But he's super clear in his lectures, really helpful, and his tests aren't too bad and completely fair.
Professor Ali Behzadan is an awesome lecturer!!! He summarizes all the important details and writes every details on the board. He holds problem sessions and review sessions all by himself!!! Definitely will take him again!!!
Professor Behzadan was hands down the best math professor I have had at UCSD. Definitely take him if you have the chance! He goes above and beyond to make sure the material is clear and understandable for his students.
He is amazing. Enough said.
He is an amazing professor. He literally writes everything done. Suuuuuper easy. Read his notes then you gonna get an A
Excellent lecturer, very engaging, super helpful in office hours. Attend review sessions! Gives cheat sheets on Midterms and Finals. Midterms are far easier than the final.
Ali is the best math professor! His lectures are super clear and helpful. He is so supportive and kind and will clarify anything. You do not need to put in more than average effort to get an A in this class because he supports his students so well. He has problem and review sessions that are very similar to tests. You are lucky to get his class
He is the best math professor I have ever had. I am so sure that he is the best it gets. His hard work and dedication to teaching is so inspirational. His lectures are clear and concise He answers any questions you have without judgement. He personally holds review sessions before each exam I mean how much better can it get? So much respect for him
attend his 4 hour review sessions and you'll do great on the exams. Final is harder than the midterms so study more for the final, grading scale is adjusted due to the fact that the midterms are easy; a 94% is an A- in the class. I messed up on the final and got a B+. He's also very nice and you can tell he really cares about students.
Literally the best Prof. at UCSD.
He is AMAZING. That's all you need to know. I love this professor, I recommend him to everyone. He really puts in A LOT of time and passion into teaching his students. You can tell he loves his job and he really loves math!
I'm here just to give him a five star. He is definitely the best professor in Math 20 series. Take his class and you will fall in love with math.
Amazing Professor. Took him for 20D and 20F and made me fall in love with Differential Equations and Linear Algebra. Incredibly passionate and, most importantly, cares a lot about his students. Take him if you can; I guarantee you will learn a lot about math!
Go review before MT and Final then you can earn an A. Just know how to do the questions he went through in the review and it would be enough. Copy the step of those questions and apply those in the exam then you are good to go. There are hw ard 20 questions every week spend time on it. Answers are posted with questions together. But DON'T COPY.
phenomenal professor, the entire uc system should lean towards teaching like this man and we might actually receive a decent education. It is so rare to find professors that care about the students comprehension of material.
Can't ask for a better professor. He literally spends multiple hours during the weekend to hold review sessions. He makes a huge effort to ensure his lecture matetial is resonating in his students. His exams are easy if you attend lecture and review sessions.
BEST PROFESSOR IN MY LIFE. He cares a lot about student learning and has very well structured lecture and teaching style. He offers a lot of office hours and help. Homework was tougher than the midterms but thats solely for practice. Just attend lecture and review sessions and you'll do fine!
He spent tons of hours to just review for students. So much respects for his hard works for students. Exams are simple, he knows vector calculus really well. So, The complicated problems will be digested well for me. I hope our school makes sure other professors are like Ali who care students. Best teacher in my UCSD experiences.
He's an amazing guy. Absolute recommendation for this professor. I came into ucsd, getting screwed for math, but this professor really digests the materials, step by step and he takes his time to make sure all students understand. His lectures are quite heavy, and he does explain fast sometimes, but there's extra credit as well!
People might say "yeah, he is easy". But in reality, he teaches you so well that you think the course material is easy. MATH 20E is known for one of the hardest courses in the series, but Ali makes it seem easy by breaking down the concepts and teach you thoroughly. Don't take him if you are going to take advantage of his efforts.
Best math professor I have had so far. He explains things very well. He's very caring and hosts many additional OH. His review and problem sessions are extremely helpful. Take his class if you have the chance. His exams are easy if you study. His lectures are captivating for an 8am class.
The best prof I have taken for math class! Hope he can teach upper
Most responsible and devoted professor EVER! Lectures and review sessions are super clear. Extra office hours at weekends. I took two one-questioned pop quizzes throughout the quarter but they were easy and just for attendance.
Professor Ali is a gift to UCSD and it's students, honestly. He is very approachable, works hard to make sure his students understand the math, and inspires confidence and understanding in all those that care to show up.
Professor Behzadan is hands down the most dedicated professor at UCSD. He holds several hours long review session before exams in the weekend evenings. He covers the material SO throughly that you think the class is an easy A. If you're lucky enough to stumble upon an open seat in his class, you MUST take him. When opportunity knocks, wat do you do
His review session is 5 hours! amazing
Ali is probably the most amazing lecturer I have ever had at UCSD, or even in general. He works extremely hard and is always available and happy to help students out. He has six-hour review sessions for the exams, and eleven office hours - he is extremely dedicated. Work hard, go to office hours for help, and you will gain a lot out of his class.
1. Many office hours and long review sessions. 2. Too many lectures for a summer session, which is not necessarily bad but too much workload if you are taking another class. 3. Exams extremely representative of the material in lectures and homework. 4. Simple pop quizzes given at some "surprising" timing, making your grade from a A to a B-, .
I LOVE PROFESSOR BEHZADAN! I was really dejected about pursuing a math major before I took his class - came out of the first lecture CRYING tears of joy (this is a true story). He gives his heart and soul up for his students' success and is such a selfless teacher. Take a class with this gift of a professor and you will feel eternally grateful.
In my two years at UCSD so far this has been the first math class Ive actually enjoyed. He is the best teacher Ive had and he deserves all the praise Ive seen hes been getting. If youre taking a math class at UCSD be sure to get him
Professor Behzaden is the best professor at UCSD. He teaches with great detail, and he makes sure that you understand EVERYTHING he teaches. His review session are 5 hours long, so you know you will be prepared for the exams. His class won't be an easy A. You have to work for it. But you will learn a tremendous amount. Take his class if you can.
Probably the only upper division math course that I understood what was going on in the lecture. It's all because of Ali's amazing work to break down steps to make sure students understand everything. He really deserves a huge respect. No more words are needed to describe. Just take him if you really want to learn and you will be rewarded.
He's a genius and the most patient, caring teacher I've known.
This guy is truly a genius. He knows math in the next level. Really enjoyed his lecture. Respect!
Professor Behzadan is the best professor in UCSD that math dept. could offer. I think some students don't even study the materials, and ask for an free A. If some of you cannot handle this course, then you should change your major soon. I doubt you will be able to do well in other math classes.
Prior to enrolling in the course, Professor Behzadan INSISTED that students only take his course if they are able to attend ALL of his lectures. Those who attend his lectures are highly rewarded with knowledge, as his content and explanations are impeccable. I think it is reasonable for a professor to have such a strict attendance policy.
One of the most responsible professors in UCSD. Definitely recommended if you want to learn something.
Most amazing professor I've had in my four years at UCSD. Was lucky enough to take multiple classes with him. Super dedicated professor that really cares about his students. He presents the material so thoroughly in class/review sessions that you grasp the information in the moment, and don't need to study as hard on your own.
He is definitely the most passionate professor I've ever had in UCSD!!
Professor Ali is the best professor at UCSD. I have never met anyone more dedicated and passionate about teaching. He is extremely intelligent, extremely helpful, and extremely caring. I will be sad to leave his class and anyone who gets the opportunity to have him is truly lucky. Professor Ali is one of a kind and truly remarkable.
Best math professor, best professor at UCSD. Engaging, cares about students, easy because he teaches so well. Has 5 hour review sessions and extra lectures but if you go to them you are guranteed to understand the concepts and do well
He is legit the BEST professor I have ever met not only in UCSD but also in my entire life. He is SO dedicated and enthusiastic about teaching. He really explained the concepts and steps to solve problems in details so as long as you pay attention to the lectures, you will understand them. Definitely choose him. Don't hesitate.
Great lecture I need to say. But his final is so freaking hard. You know how to solve each problem, but the number is just so freaking ugly. You cannot do the right calculation. I got full credit on the midterm but mess up on final. I mean you can really learn a lot from him but if you just want to get an A, then try to avoid him.
He is an amazing professor, the most inspired, energetic person I've ever met during my life. He taught everything in detail and make math easier to learn. However his final is pretty hard this time...I expected an A cause' I got 23.25/24 on my midterm and also full extra credits and hw marks, but I did bad on my final. So I only got B+.
He is the BEST professor you could ever had in UCSD. The final is REALY hard for me and I received a really bad grade. However, I would say this is the only course I learnt something. Work hard to get an A.
I am an international student and professor Ali is the BEST math professor I've ever met. He really digs into the essence of each topic and let you understand the core of it. Just take his course.
He is the best professor that I have ever met.
If you are interested in learning efficient ways of thinking about and solving problems then he is your guy. I am a second year and out of all of the classes I have taken, the most valuable and applicable skills I have acquired I have learned from him. I believe he is amongst the best and I doubt UCSD will be able to hold onto him much longer.
Super nice guy. I didn't like his lectures, since he bombarded us with information that wasn't necessary and generally wasn't concise. However, go to his office hours and you'll see how kind he is. He sometimes gives out his chocolate, he makes jokes, and he's generally super nice. Attendance is mandatory, but if you have to miss class just email.
Professor Ali, is wonderful he is clearly passionate about MATH20D and is available for questions related to the subject. He is the best math professor I have ever had, and reminded me of how much I enjoyed math. Although he can be strict about attendance he does it with the best intention to make sure his students understand the material in depth!
he explains all the concepts in very, very clear terms, with excellent notes to supplement lecture. in fact, sometimes the material seemed almost too understandable because of his excellent explanations. we did not use the textbook and he gave biweekly homework. discussion was not mandatory. unlike the other 20d profs, there was no MATLAB quiz.
Professor Ali is by far the best professor I have ever had. Attendance is absolutely mandatory even on Saturdays so if you can't do Saturday lectures then this is not the class for you. However, he gives extra credit opportunities and has many many office hours where he welcomes you so kindly. His exams are extremely fair and is super kind!
This is the best professor / teacher / lecturer I have ever had in my life. Every lecture is super clear and organized so that I learn new things with solid understanding every time. Furthermore, Professor Behzadan Ali truly values hard work. Everything on the exams are problems that are either given on homework or are done by himselves.
I CAN'T THINK OF A REASON WHY ALI'S NOT GETTING A 5.0. BEST PROFESSOR EVER. RESPECT HIM, RESPECT ALL THAT HE CONTRIBUTES FOR THE CLASS AND YOU WILL TURN OUT ENRICHED BOTH IN KNOWLEDGE AND GPA.
The best professor here. He gives dense office hours, and he devotes his life on teaching. After his class, I truly master the materials not only on how to use formulas, but also on the proves. Professor Ali explains every concepts very clear. He also give interesting questions we can do for extra credit. He is legit a hardworking genius.
He puts in so much effort , of course he expects the same from his students. He makes subjects soOO easy to understand. Actually cares that you learn, if you have the opportunity to do so, you should take him!
He is the best prof I have ever had so far. He assumes you don't understand the basic knowledge, so he will explain and recall the basic knowledge to make sure all of his students understand that completely. He explains the Math notation as well which make you understand the material easily.
he can make the lecture easily understand. He explain the detail in every step and write down the reason why step 1 to step 2. Most of professors wont do that because they think the students should remember everything and will not forget some basic. If you spend time on this course, you will get the grade you deserve not like other crazy course.
Amazing professor who genuinely cares about his students and wants them to succeed. Holds many office hours outside of class dedicated solely to help students with any questions they have.
I have never felt more catered to as a student than in Ali's class. He really just wants you to learn the material and gives you all the tools to do it, including ridiculous numbers of office hours. The ONLY way you don't pass his class is because you didn't utilize the resource he gives you the most of: HIS OWN TIME (I took 142A with him)
You literally just have to read the lecture notes to get a good grade in the class.
You can hear the excitement in his voice when he lectures. He keeps you engaged in the material every step of the way. You can tell he is very passionate about what he is teaching and is a natural teacher. I recommend attending class and simply paying attention. He literally teaches the material so all you have to do is be engaged. Excellence.
Pros: most enthusiastic lecturer I've ever seen, delightful to help out students, goes over material well paced and make sure everyone can understand, super clear hand writing and posts detailed notes available online, take home midterm and a portion of take home final Cons: no cheat sheet which takes 50%, extra lecture & crazy grading scale
This man is a living gem, a true saint, and a master class professor. He cares about his students and dedicates so much time to them that it's crazy. The best instructor I've ever had hands down.
The best professor I have ever met in UCSD, even throughout my life!!!!!!
terrible prof i didn't understand anything in lay man term and i fail uwu
