Won't give copies of the powerpoints! Expects you to take copius notes with no take home aids at all. Doesn't use book.
CLASS IS VERY HARD! NICE PROFESSOR BUT TEST ARE EXTREMELY HARD...YOU DON'T GET TO KEEP YOUR EXAMS AFTER THEY HAVE BEEN GRADED.
Book is used and Professor is helpful. Very accommodating. and provides many opportunities for extra credit. The trick is to do all homework assignments and attend all classes. Professor does give power points out that contain a lot of notes and exercises. Accounting is not an easy class at any level and you have to make an effort to pass.
Class was fairly fast-paced, makes sure that everyone understands material. Provided many opportunities for additional teaching outside regular class. Used several teaching methods to cater to different learning techniques (visual/audio learners.) Used PowerPoints, provided notes where you fill in blanks. Need to do the work to do well. Great Prof!
This teacher is very hard. Does not post any notes on blackboard and will also not let you keep tests. Accounting is a tough subject and this is no exception. Only class I have failed in my life. be prepared to understand and memorize all aspects of the accounting sheets.
Is very hard. Has no notes to take home or any nots on blackboard. This class is extremly difficult and even with the extra study seesions I hated the class. Was always behind and never could get what he was teaching. Would never take this class with him again
Great prof. Not easy for sure but very interesting. Accounting is very hard subject but if you work hard in his class and go to class, you can get an A in his class. He is very cool. Dont let the name fool you.
Extremely helpful! Very nice and interesting. Ask him for extra help and he is happy to assist. I will take his classes whenever possible.
Prof Kooti is deff the best accounting prof on campus. Yes the class is difficult, and yes you have to try hard however he will help you out of class as much as you want. He has a lot of extra credit to help your grade out. Honestly the people who dont pass his class its because they dont try. I would recommend him over any acc prof. in GGC.
Great professor! It's accounting so don't expect it to be a class you can do the bare minimum. He has notes you print out for each chapter and you fill in the blanks during class. He has fun extra credit and really makes the classroom atmostphere enjoyable. I would recommend him to everyone.
Does not put anything online. Spends copious amounts of time on fill in the blank notes when test are all problem based. Knowledgeable about subject, but does not know how to teach it. He teaches the problems different than the book, so if you need to reference the book it's of no use. Unless you have tons of outside class time to devote....avoid!
Was a terrible experience. I was told that a C was achievable and no class was ever missed.
I never seem that type of teacher in my life. His teaching system has serious problem. If I don't do anything myself, I don't expect from others. His exams are very hard and he doesn't give you any clue about exam. Personally he is nice guy but it doesn't make any difference in your life.
He's okay. Accounting isn't the best thing in the world. Not much to say - but ask a lot of questions, and pay attention and do a lot of practice. Assigns homework. Test seem far fetched from actual classwork and notes.
Professor Kooti is a nice guy and is very knowledgeable. However, his teaching methods are not really good. He flew by the lectures, the homework assignments (which were required) kicked it up a notch ant the tests required a lot of detail. If you are taking his class, be ready to spent a lot of your own time trying to understand the concepts.
Nice professor and lots of opportunity for extra credit. However, the tests and quizzes are hard. Homework is part of the grade (free points). Also, part of the grade is attendance 5 points. so, showing up w/ h.w. is 15 pts. No matter who teaches it, this class is hard! A lot of info covered. Not recommended for the summer.
Great professor. Very difficult class. Takes a lot of work, but if you are an accounting major you will benefit from this class. His first test is absolutely brutal. He does move quickly through the lectures, but when you Ask a question he really slows down and takes the time to explain it. Plan on taking him next class I can.
Wow I can't believe all these negative comments. This guy is a great teacher. He really takes his time to explain each individual concept. I don't know why people are saying he rushes through things. That's not true at all, if you tell him that you're not sure what's going then he will stop and help you to understand what you just went over.
Hard subject matter but he is a good teacher. The class was tough but he does give opportunities for study sessions, responds to emails, and answers all questions.
Kooti is very knowledgeable. He moves very very fast. homework is mandatory and so is attendance. He is a tough teacher. if you are an accounting major this is a great class cause he is really challenging. but if you just need this class as a prerequisite choose another teacher.
Hard class, but he's a pretty good teacher. Nice guy, but can get a little off subject over business things. He does rush, but has to in order to get thru the book. However, he will slow down and repeat with no attitude. He wants everyone to understand. Like most classes, if you pay attention, do the homework, and study you can get an A.
All these negative comments are just people that didn't study hard enough. Prof Kooti is my favorite GGC professor. Very fun guy that makes sure you know what you're doing and will repeat anything as long as you ask. Sure class is hard but I took him for Managerial and Financial and would take him for another class too if I could. Chill with hate.
This class was rough. The tests are completely impossible and there is no point to study. There is a huge curve and the people that fail completely still get up to about a 70. I only made a B because I chose to not study for the final and still got almost an A!
Don't get me wrong, Professor Kooti is a likeable guy. But likeable does not make a quality professor. He admits that he procrastinates on everything and this shows up in the way he teaches his class. He's knowledgeable but his lectures don't translate well and acct is already TOUGH as it is. I would try to take someone else if you can.
HARD CLASS. He rushed through it and I already thought it washard but he will go over it again for you with no problem but I feel as though he should have allowed us to us a cheat sheet on the extremely hard exams he gave us like some professors do but he did say Acct is a class some people have to take twice.
I would take this class if I were you. He speaks quickly, but is obsessed with everyone understanding. He is willing to work with you if you are willing to put in the time. A good teacher for a difficult subject.
He's a great teacher! For those who are Acct. major, you should take his class bc it's a challenging course that will benefit you when you take Managerial Acct.
Professor Kooti is one of those teachers who actually wants the students to learn, understand, and retain information. You can tell he enjoys what he does. This class takes a lot of effort, but it isn't impossible to get an A.
GREAT PROFESSOR BUT YOU DO HAVE TO PUT ALOT OF EFFORT INTO LEARNING CAUSE YOU WON'T PASS JUST BY MEMORIZING EVERYTHING, YOU ACTUALLY HAVE TO KNOW THE MATERIAL WELL. LOVED THE CLASS CAUSE I FELT LIKE I LEARNED ALOT
For managerial, there were NO examsHW. So we did group projects which was good if you didn't know whats going on in class but don't think you're off the hook because you have to show your group that you're there with anything they need from you. As far as teaching goes, he does it well but spoke QUICKLY so I was lost half the time. Im ADD so.. lol
Kooti did not teach very well. My entire class was failing! He went through the information very fast and there are no multiple choice questions on his tests. you have to work everything out on your own. So study study study. This class takes up more time than it is worth and he is not helpful at all. He teaches as if you already know the material.
If you work hard and ask questions, you will pass. The less questions you ask, the more he will assume you know the material, and the tougher everything will get.
Instructor Kooti describes himself to be highly ADD and displays all that one would expect from someone who is such. He goes through topics very quickly often neglecting the fact that many students have yet to grasp the topic before moving ahead. You will constantly feel rushed and behind in his class.
Professor Kooti is excellent, I do not understand why he is only a 3.5. He explains all the concepts in such a way that everyone understands. If you don't understand, he will go back and explain it to you until you do. However, you have to do your part. If you do all the homework and read the chapter and pay attention in class, you will do fine.
Professor Kooti did an excellent job explaining all the concepts. The tests are easy if you study. I recommend that you do the homework as many times as you can until you understand it. The comments below me amaze me. This is not an easy class. You wont get a good grade by just showing up and doing minimal work; play your part and you"ll pass.
He goes through everything super fast and assumes that everyone knows what he's talking about and moves on. Me and my friends including don't even know how to do one problem on our homework let alone how to study for exams. When he goes over homework it's not helpful as well. This is ridiculous. He's a nice person but a bad teacher.
Great professor. You're going to have to work for the grade, but you'll learn alot and he'll answer any questions you have. The class is tough so ask any questions and spend time studying.
Professor Kooti is an amazing teacher. Granted, the class is not easy, but if you come to class, interact, and ask questions, then the class is not super difficult. Tests are the hardest part about the class but if you understand the material and study in advance then you will be fine. I would absolutely recommend Professor Kooti! Great guy!
Professor Kooti is not a joke. Come to class, ask questions, and do not let the class continue if you dont understand something. It is very important that you pay close attention because this class is not easy. He is a very cool professor. He will try to make it as easy as possible if you pay attention. He's a true professional and I recommend him!
I took Kooti for both Managerial and Financial accounting at the same time, and it was very difficult but if you put in the effort so will he. You will have a lot of homework and quizzes but trust me, you will need them to balance out your three tests. Show up to every class and your lowest test grade will be replaced with your final!
He gives out notes for the chapters that we fill in the class which is really good, BUT he goes super fast on the powerpoints. Homework and quizzes for every chapter and please beware of his tests and take a whole entire week to study for the tests. Miss too many classes and you will fail. Too many people late beware of pop quizzes.
Professor K really cares about the material. His class is not easy but he does everything he can to make sure that students understand. Ask questions, show up and don't be late. If we have homework due or a pop quiz and you don't show up you don't get credit for it. This is one of those classes that you have to set time aside to study for.
A very great teacher. If your a business major and actually want to get something out of a class for your career, then professor Kooti is for you! The material is difficult at first but if you put your time and effort into it, then you can make an A! He treats his class very professional so make sure not to miss class and make sure to participate.
by far the hardest class i've ever taken but prof kooti is really helpful. the first exam would most likely be your lowest grade but he replaces it with your final. he is there to answer any questions you have!! very helpful
This class is no joke, he goes way to fast, and the homework on connect are completely different from which he teaches in class. His test are from which he teaches in class , so the homeworks are added stress on to your life. If there is another professor that is willing to sit there and go through things slowly, I would suggest taking them.
Worst Professor I've ever had. I A student and failed this class. When the whole class fails, there must be a problem. He doesn't care about the students who actually have trouble in the class, he was perfectly happy giving me my F. No extra Credit and the curve is maybe 4 or 5 points. Never in my life will take this class again.
Took him for summer for Acct 2102 and he was a great professor. He makes class interesting and has a good sense of humor. His exams were hard but he curved and did his best to help us out.
Had him for both ACCT 2101 AND 2102. Specifically took 2102 this summer with him. It was a lot of work but if you put in the effort, he's going to too. He is very patient and will explain you anything you don't understand. If you don't understand something, PLEASE ASK, or else he'll think you know everything. His tests are hard but fair.
All I gotta say is that if you are not an accounting major then DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS. If you are then good luck challenging this teacher.
The class is hard, unlike some classes there is no multiple choice on the test, and homework can be a pain. If you consistently practice the material ahead of time and study weeks ahead, You will do fine. However the professor is great, yes he moves fast but he encourages students to participate and asks questions, so if you have a question, speak
One of my favorite professors I'v ever had. He really takes the time to answer any questions and will try his best to make sure everyone understands the material. Tests are not too difficult. As long as you go to class and study it's not impossible to get an A. Almost always curve on his tests which helps your grade. Drops the lowest hw and quiz.
NOT AN EASY A. You HAVE to work in this class for the grade you want. However, he is great. He moves fairly quick and gets off topic but he knows ho to explain and will do so until you thoroughly understand it. Very personable; would definitely take again.
Would not recommend if you need to just get this class out of the way and its not part of your major classes.
If you honestly don't want to learn Accounting PLEASE don't take him. His notes are old so you have to really pay attention. When he asks "does anyone have any questions" please raise your hand because 9.7/10 your classmates are scared and have no idea what the answer is either. By doing this he will begin to know your name which is a good thing.
Attendance is mandatory. If you miss more than 2 classes, you won't have the opportunity to replace your lowest test grade. Quizzes and homework is online. Really study the vocab for test because it's worth a BIG chunk of your grade. There is no multiple choice for test, you either know it or you don't. Put the work in and he will notice. SIMPLE!
He does a great job at relating accounting to every day life which makes it easier to understand. Ask as many questions as you have; he loves when his students engage in the lectures. Homework and quizzes are based on the online text not his lecture but do the quizzes and homework you are sure to pass the class. I would definitely take it again!
One of my favorite teachers. His tests are identical to the in class notes. Show up to class and ask any questions you have. The homework at times was different then notes, but he would warn us of that. Anyone who complains about him does not want to learn the material. He also curves grades so the class average is fair. I got many true A on tests.
Financial Accounting is hard. I struggled in this class and panicked more than I thought I would. However, he is a good teacher. You've got to study to pass. He explains thoroughly how each process works and is happy to answer questions. You won't know you're grade until the last day of class after the final. Make sure to attend the classes.
It's a challenging class but Mr.K is very organized and answers any of your questions. If you have to take financial accounting he's great and really prepares you for future classes.
i will never take this teacher again for any subject. he doesn't care if you fail, literally fails 80% of his class every semester, hw and tests have nothing to do w what he teaches in class. do not take this teacher. save your gpa and take someone else. I get all A's, but not in this professors class.
TERRIBLE. I am a hardworking student and I have never failed a class in my life. This was the first class I have ever failed. Kooti works at an extremely fast pace. No matter how much you try to participate and study for this class, it is nearly impossible to succeed. Kooti does not offer much help outside of class and he will fail you no remorse.
Accounting is a very difficult subject and he tries to help you understand it. You have to put in all the effort bc it is difficult to recall how to solve a problem with out the notes. I got average grades on my tests by solving the problem in the notes without looking at the answer. I would do the same prob 5 times. It rly helps on exams. STUDY!!
He's a nice guy, but if you struggle with math- do not take his course. He moves at a past pace and expects everyone to keep up. I do not think he is a bad professor, however his teaching style just wasn't for me. If you require a lot of practice rather than just writing notes off of a powerpoint then he probably won't be for you either. Beware.
Horrible accounting experience. When you ask for help, he helps a little, but expects you to figure out the rest.... as if accounting is not that hard already. I will never take him again.
please save yourself! do not take this man, test are almost blank fill them in yourself. notes rarely show up on test. RUN!
Very tough class. Test are blank. He gives little to nothing about what will be on the test meaning anything from the notes can be on it. No multiple choice everything is short answer. I would try someone else if you are not ready to study for a couple days before your test.
This class had a TON of equations and concepts to grasp within a short time period. I highly recommend attending every lecture, reading the chapters outside of class, and asking many questions because the tests are worth a large portion of your grade. You have to work hard in this class, professor Kooti works with hard workers!
his methods of teaching is dumb first day of class he explains how about 33% of the class with more than likely fail test are fill in the blanks and he goes through stuff like its not really important when all of it is so i would say never take his course
Every test has a curve because his test are impossible. He give you notes to fill out but homework on connect is completely different from the test. He makes it where you have to depend on the final but the final is way different from everything you studied from his notes and homework. Majority of the class will fail
Never failed a class in my life. Failed this one. Terrible class!!! Take at your own risk! Not sure why the rating is so high
Worse Professor ever. Do not take this man. He already knows he has to curve the exams because they are impossible to pass.
He's the worst professor I have taken in my life! All the comments below about him are true. I'm an A student never gotten a C. His exams are hard. He does not help instead tells you to study. Do not take him!
GGC has too many easy professors & people become lazy. He is a great professor & makes sure you actually learn. Barely got an A but I didn't study too much. Ran out of time on exams but if I had studied more I am sure I would have been faster. Lectures are fast-paced but compensated by fill in the blank notes. Enjoyed the class. Good sense of humor
Pay attention or you WON'T pass. My summer class was 100% online due to COVID & all lectures were recorded, which was LIFESAVING. Bc you can replay videos as much as needed. GREAT professor, very accessible, he'll explain anything you get wrong to help you understand & will answer ALL ?'s. Had Connect HW & Quiz every week, exam every other week
I don't understand how Professor Kooti has bad ratings!!! This is my second degree and he is the best professor I have ever had. He actually explains things in a way that makes sense, gives us soooo many study tips and tricks to actually remember this difficult material. Because of him, I love accounting and remember everything from intro.
His online class was pretty nice -- he had a bunch of videos made for us to watch and even made notes for us to where we just fill in the blanks. I learned how to read a balance sheet and understood the statement of cash flow -- so now the company documents I see on yahoo finance makes sense to me. Very nice.
Regret taking his class. All he does is lecture all class with a PowerPoint and fill in the blank notes. He talk so much and very fast. He gives out homework and quizzes but literally does not put in any grades in the very end which is irritating cause we have to wait to know our final grade. His test are hard which is why he gives extra credit
This is the worst professor ive ever had. He doesnt put your grades until the end so throughout the semester you dont know where your grade stands. All he does is go over a powerpoint and talk. Its a rigorous course and he doesnt help with that.
Worst Professor i've had here at ggc, they way he tries to teach the lessons is horrible and not very helpful. The homework is almost nothing like the lectures and the quizzes are worse. The test are nothing like the lectures they are extremely hard which is why he adds a curve to them! Do not recommend him unless you wanna stress and struggle.
hes cool. i think he expects too much out of students but thats just me. exams 90% and professionalism 10% so study hard af.
He's really nice & you can tell that he's knowledgeable but it doesn't help when you're only graded by exams. There isn't any homework so you don't realize whether you understand a concept or not until it's too late. I asked for help b/c I had a full course load & didn't feel supported as a student but he suggested I make assignments to study...
Prof. K had clear lectures and provided fill in the blank notes to identify key points. The class was set up so you had to watch the recorded lectures before coming to class. Time on-campus was used to answer questions and provide more details, as well as go through example problems. Only exams + professionalism make up your grade, so study!!
Never in my life have I come close to tearing up during an exam, but this guy takes the cake for me. We had to do video lectures and then come into class and apply what we learned. The lectures are boring, the exams are stupid hard, at least there's a curve though. There are only 4 grades, 3 exams (90%), and "professionalism" (10%).
Prof. Kooti VALUES your participation. Set up times to meet with him. He will show you where you went wrong and walk you through any questions you have. If you put in minimal effort and don't participate in the optional assignments you WILL struggle. My only feedback for this course is it is 100% self taught through connect no pre- recorded videos
This is the second time I've taken him thinking that he would be better in this class, nope. He has homework that's due every week which are strictly based on the book. They take hours to do and he didn't reach out to us once the entire summer semester to help us in any way. The students had to teach themselves everything in the course with no help
He is focused on you understanding accounting on a deep level more so than teaching you . He would rather you have a sense of independent learning and teach yourself
Professor Kooti is amazing! I took him in Spring 2024 and had lectures once a week. His videos are extremely helpful, and his lectures in class also reinforce the material well. He is super patient when answering questions. He also does practice problems in class, which really helps. If you actually want to learn, TAKE HIM!
Came with hope left hopeless. 3 exams, 10 HW assignments. Lectures were good he goes slow and will repeat info because its a TON to remember and confusing at times. The lecture, the HW, and exams dont really correlate but he post videos that helped. I studied hours for exams and still failed. BUT He is the best choice for acct2102 according to RMP
While his lectures are informative, the hw was created entirely by Connect not him, meaning that usually the assignments did not correlate with what was taught in class, he only skims the surface. Meaning you must DEDICATE hours to the class even if this is not your major. So if you are not willing to teach yourself, do not take the course.
Trash and Rip-Off
Only things in the gradebook are 3 exams and homework. Homework is on McGraw-Hill and its different from what he teaches in class. It's one of those classes where you spend hours learning the material on your own and there's no extra credit to help you out. Kooti will go slow on the lectures and go back if you have any questions.
Yes the homework he gives online is SLIGHTLY different format than what is taught in class, but if you understand the material it should not be difficult at all.He lectures and answers questions very well, reply to emails efficiently. Extra credit is offered for each test, must have 83% on all test and 100% in everything else to have A in the class.
His tests are super hard and different from what you've learned in class. No extra credit but he will curve your grade. You need to study a lot in order to pass the tests. Take this class online if you can.
You have to pay $180 for the connect for it to autograde your homework and quizzes. He puts 3 exams on D2L with lockdown+webcam (30+ questions). He makes u pay money and doesnt grade, but then wants to stare at ur recording of u taking an exam. He waits a week to release exam grade bc he watches every students videos. Would never take again. Lazy.
Text book is pretty expensive and I feel like was too different from the content on the test. Test are worth 60 percent of the total grade so you have to be perfect or close to it to get an A in the class. For the final test there was a lot of pressure because I didn't really know what to study.
This was the first AI in Accounting class and it was great! Learned how to use AI within accounting. Workload and structure were good. The professor is amazing, caring, understanding, and truly wants you to succeed. He's always willing to help. Just do the work and you'll be fine. Not much to complain about. This was an online hybrid class.
