Will teach directly from the book - nothing more; nothing less. Could care less how students are doing.
Teaching style is straightforward from the text. He gives a lot of homework (2-3 hrs. each class if you do it). Doing homework is the only way to get an A. Prefers you to go to the LRC first and then use his office hours. Extra credit is offered if you answer questions correctly in class.
He's not a very good teacher. With his accent it's vey hard to undertsnad him. He wrties all the notes on the board befor eyou walk in....Mistake #1. If you ask him a question he doesn't even answer it but it doesn't matter anyway you casn't understand him! and his test are hardly on what he taught!
he's so easy! you can jot down the notes from the board then leave. tests are all multiple choice and pretty easy. he also does not care about attendance but i would recommend at least showing up to write down the notes.
He was very nice and very easy. Just do your homework. He doesn't really care about attendance. I love that he gave extra credit by going up to the board, and he doesn't put you down if you got the answer wrong.
Was not excited about taking this class with him because I have bad luck with foreign math teachers. (Not ****, but it is what it is) I was pleasantly surprised. He did try and explain things as best he could, little hard to understand sometimes, but easy enough that I got an A for the course and am usually struggling in math.
cant understand a word he said. very hard to work with
He's alright. Very easy class, not too difficult to understand. He's very repetative. When he lectures, you'll usually end up writing things down 3 or 4 times per session. Over all, he's decent.
I'm not sure what everyone is talking about, but here's how it is going with my class. I show up late and he doesn't care at all, just let him know at the end of class that you are there. I haven't bought a book for his class because you don't need one! At least not for me. (Maybe because my last math class I had was Honors Algebra II) He assigns homework, but he doesn't grade it so why do it? As long as you get the notes and look them over, the test will be a breeze. His accent is thick, but he talks slow.
worse math teacher i ever had and he doesnt speak great english and has an accent. i had to drop his class twice.
WORST TEACHER EVER!!! He dosen't care about his students, and i couldn't understand anything he explained. Don't take him!!
Intelligent man, CANNOT TEACH!Unless you have a strong math base, do not take him. He really doesn't teach. He rips through the material really fast.Basically copies right from the text book. No opportunity to bring up grades if you get a poor test grade. Entire grade based on 4 tests ONLY!! For those who aren't strong test takers, DO NOT TAKE HIM
WORST TEACHER EVER!!! he is so hard, and so are his test. He dosen't even do reviews, and when you ask him for help he just tells you to read the problem again. avoid this teacher...trust me!
he was the worst teacher i have ever had. he thought he was teaching by writing word for word from the textbook not explaining anything in his own word. i went to tutoring everyday to have them explain it to me in english. gcc should have paid me to teach the class.
He doesn't answer your questions clearly. He is also very hard to understand. He made me feel that he didn't really care about what the students thought.
he always repeats himself. he speaks poor english. he's nice, as long as you don't talk while he teaches. he has the worst hand writing EVER..literary. HOWEVER, he's not mean.
This man is such a tool! He spends our classtime reading the newspaper (and it's USA Today-not a real paper!) instead of teaching and his ego could fill the room.
worst teacher in 3yrs. he can't even speak english properly, let alone spell correctly! I don't believe he cares about wether you learn anything. He just wants to get through his coriculum.
I think he was a good teacher. There is alot to pack into each lesson though, but thats not his fault. I think thats why everyone was it so bitter against him, because they didnt study hard enough. He explained stuff well and he gave extra bonus points for answering questions on the board. I liked him.. i just didnt do well cuz i didnt study enough
tyhis teacher is horrible and you can not understand anythin he says
He isn't that bad. He always helps if you ask. Class can be boring when he gives you 15 minutes to do a 2 minute problem, but otherwise it was fine. He usually lets you out at least a little bit early. There are only 4 tests so you really have to do well on them to keep your average up. I would take him again.
hard, but a good teacher
okay...nothing special...got a B. he was helpful, but seemed very... mechanical... not natural... dont want to make fun or anything but... look out for "mmkay bye now...see you next time!" in his little persian accent
Absoulty horriable...dont takehim ... not willing to work with u and could careless if u pass or fail ... doesnt speak english
This guy is horrible. He is hard to understand and cannot maintain order in the class. He really doesn't teach.
He's not a bad teacher just a little hard to understand because of his accent. stop being so dramatic people
i hate this teacher with everything. he is the worst and you cant understand anything from him. he doesnt teach at all. he is useless. and is costing me from graduating this semster. and the counslers dont help either.
horrible nover showed up on time. didnt help or go over any of the tests..said it was our problem. had to put a curve on everyyy test for ANYONE to pass! DO NOT take
This guy was so easy, if you give any type of effort at all it should be at least a B. I got an A without doing any hw, hw is not mandatory, but he gives you extra credit for that and for raising your hand. Hes a bad teacher and you won't remember anything, but not a lot of effort needs to be put into the class
was hard to understand, but very nice and organized.
I enjoyed his class. I got a lot out of it. It is what you make it. P/p can't get upset ab how difficult the class is, it's math! Everything was spelled out on the board and he always said what was expected. And the p/p who complained ab his spelling, you mispelled a few words;-)
My parents have heavy accents, so understanding him was no problem after two classes. He's fairly lax in class, although late often. But don't be lulled into a false sense of security, his tests can hit you hard if you're not paying attention. My advice: Just relax and enjoy the class, but don't think you'll pass the tests as easily.
This guy is horrible. You can't understand him, he has no idea who any of his students are, he gives you problems to work on and then walks out of the room so you can't ask him for help. Do not take him, the only thing good about it is that you don't really have to do homework. The tests are hard and he doesn't help explain anything.

Hands down, worse professor I've ever had. The beginning of each class starts with his prewritten sloppy notes on the board. He's hard to understand. Then he tells you to do a couple problems, walks out and comes back after 10 min. goes over the problems and does this over and over. Do not take his classes, not worth it.
Mr Navaab is wicked awesome. He would come in late sometimes however get straight to work. Besides quirky comments and bad attempts at making a joke the guy was pretty good. I would suggest him w/o a doubt. He also does all problems in the textbook in a separate notebook its cool.
Hes and alright teacher, his english is good compared to other professors i've had, his poor attempts at jokes are funny.
WORST professor i've EVER had in my college career. he basically writes what is in the book on the board but doesn't really "teach" it .. his tests are hard, & theres only like 2 so your grade is screwed if you don't get a good grade on them, b/c of him I need to take this class OVER again at rowan to get into my teaching classes. DONT RISK HIM!!
I think his English is just fine, but he does not teach much and I was unsure if I was going to pass the class. Luckily I did, but I would def. not suggest taking him as a teacher. He doesn't care nor does he teach the material..
cant understand a word he says, hardly spakes english
He teaches from a slide. We do no work on the board. Word for word from book. 3 units in a chapter a day. Test week later. No test review, tho, more than half the class fails his test. VERY HARD, he doesn't teach and doesn't care if you learn.
He teaches by power point & doesn't teach well at all, & is hard to understand due to accent. He said attendance wasn't mandatory but I missed some days & got a letter that said I was failing because of it. He doesn't tell you when he's checking homework. He seems like a nice guy, but not a good teacher. I DO NOT recommend.
he is very tough, but a very good teacher, and you will learn a lot, a lot of homework but it pays at the end when you get that A on his test
He doesn't teach you too much. He is not a bad teacher though. Alls you have to do to get a good grade in this class is do the work he tells you do. He is a very smart professor just doesn't use all of his intelligence.
I took the class for my major because it was SUPPOSED to be an easy course for me. I took high levels of math at my high school and I THOUGHT this was difficult. He isnt a good teacher at all. He does work with a slide, and he gives alot of homework. I read the book while he "taught".
This teacher is REALLY BAD he doesn't care about his students,he eats in class and spits food in his hands. He also spends a lot of class time day dreaming. Will not wright any problems on the board everything is done by power point.I had an A in all my other classes and had major problems in this basic math class.8-9 hours after each class doing HW
He taught 100% from power point which was word for word from the textbook. He said attendance wouldn't affect your grade and then when I missed a couple classes I got a letter saying I had a bad grade because of poor attendance. He's hard to understand. He seems like a good guy out of class but overall worst teacher I've had in college.
One of the worst teachers I've had. He has an accent but I can pretty much understand him. He lied about the attendance policy, and taught the class via power point which was word for word from the book. Had students answer other student's questions also. I do not recommend. Though he was a nice enough guy, but a bad teacher.
Mr. Navaab, is hard to understand to say the least. He is however very helpful, if you ask for help. He does teach all his classes off of the power points, which is annoying.
Naveeb to me is definatly not crystally. He clarity is filled with nothing but disparity. The material is basic he seems to explain, as Ali sips hot tea ultimatly. The class curve was such a swerve, that a B was like infinity, to everyone including me.
All he does is teach by powerpoint, so if you dont understand it...too bad. The tests were really hard, even if you studied for them. Hard to understand sometimes because of the accent. good guy but not a good teacher. not recommended
he should not be a teacher anywhere. he is hard to understand with his speech. he teaches strickly from a powerpoint and doesnt move from his seat. if the projection screen breaks, he says he doesnt teach on the board. if you want to pass the class with a descent grade, take someone else.
Prior to entering this class I read on here that Navvab was such a horrible teachers but I came to fine out that if you just go to his class and pay attention ( do what your supposed to do ) you will do fine. At times it does get boring but then again what class isnt? I really enjoyed this class and I got a great grade! He is a great teacher!
SUCH a boring class. He literally sits in his chair and reads powerpoints that contain the SAME exact problems that are in the book, including the processes on how to do them. I basically taught myself going off examples in the book. Don't take him if you need a sepcific teacher. He shouldn't be taching.
I normally do very well in math classes. But having Navvab as a teacher made it impossible for me. I could barely understand what he was saying most of the time and then when i would ask for him to explain a certain part of a problem he wouldn't even bother. He just expected me to already know everything. Not a good teacher at all!
cant understand him
WORST PROFESSOR EVER! Can barely speak English. Teaches directly from the book. No personality.
worst teacher ever doesn't teach, can't understand everyone is failing, don't take the class, I'm going to complain to the dean
very easy to understand and follows everything through to make sure everyone understands.
Don't know why everyone is ragging on this guy. I've takin him for every math course and he takes 2 weeks to get through ONE chapter. Homework is optional and though his office hours are tight he still explains things slow and easy. I feel he literally dumbs it down for us to understand. He even curves the class on grades!
hard to understand. not very helpfull
Dispite his indian descent and accent, this guy took his time teaching and spoke good english. The class is hard, but if you follow what he teaches you in class and take notes, you have a chance of passing.
This professor makes the class so easy. He curves all the grades, and if you actually pay attention, there is no reason you shouldn't get an A.
Class can be kind of hard but overall i like him and think he is doing his best to help!
Truly wants you to succeed. Course and grade structure makes it easy for anyone who participates in every class, does homework to succeed. Takes a lot of care and time in explaining problems. Shares power points, gives extra credit, allows audio recording of lectures, quickly answers emails. I hate math and he really helped me through it.
Worst person ever! I refuse to use the word teacher because he doesn't even teach. When questions come up in class he directs us to Youtube or KahnAcademy. I usually do well in math and now I have to drop this class because if you even mistype an answer in the Aleks system, the whole answer is wrong.
Never have been so frustrated by a professor. Seems like a good guy, but a terrible prof. his accent is difficult to understand, and more importantly he only explains things one way, the way the book words it, so if you're having difficulty comprehending he isn't much help, he just repeats, almost in exact words what he's already said.
This guy is terrible! Strictly teaches from power point which is word for word from the text book. He can't answer a question without repeating himself which is where the question originates in the first place. Can easily become frustrated with him. His accent is difficult at times to understand. NEVER taking him again.
Very good teacher! He takes his time and explains things very well! If you do your studying and homework and show up for class you will do fine. Algebra was never my strong point in school, and he made it very clear. The people who complained in my class were not paying attention, and were skipping classes. Would recommend this class and teacher.
hardly speaks english, does not explain material well.. better off taking an online course
Professor Navaab uses nothing but power points to teach the class and he is tough to understand. He does homework and exams online. You get points off for stupid things and it is very frustrating. He will give you extensions frequently for the work, which is nice. All in all he is a decent teacher, but he wouldn't be my first choice.
I feel bad for this guy. I had him during Spring of 2014, and being a nearly 40yr old man who stinks at math, Mr. Navaab helped me get an A. He puts everything in such simple, succinct terms and takes his time explaining, I loved that! Yes, his accent is thick, but that isn't his fault. I wave to him in the hallways still and he waves back.
I started out going to class every week... then realized that all he does is read from the powerpoints and if you have a question about the powerpoint, he will not know how to answer it. I stopped going to class did my homework online taught myself the material and only showed up for tests. If attendance is mandatory for your class do not take him.
He is a good teacher. Yes, he maybe difficult to understand sometimes but, he is good. All work is on Power points , or online. you can use the book for the tests and one page of notes. If you can't pass from that then really reconsider college. you just have to do the work, it is College people.
Take his Hybrid Class, It is is super easy. All Homework is online and you get as many attempts as needed. 3 of 4 tests are online and he gives 3 tries to take them! His lectures are boring, but attendance is optional. Prof. Navaab is a really nice guy and gives a lot of opportunities to ask questions. He really wants you to succeed.
He's very nice, but very boring. Don't waste your money on a text book, just get the MyMathLab. Easy A though. I would recommend is hybrid class.
Professor Navaab was nice and very easy to understand. Didn't appreciate the fact that he made me pay the extra $40 to expand the time I had website, and allowed other students to finish their assignments before the temp. code expired. Other then that his lectures aren't bad unless you actually pay attention and bring coffee.
Great guy and teacher, easy A if you put forth the effort! Gives multiple chances on homework's and quizzes if you don't do good the first time(s) He definitely sets you up for success and is always willing to help
Doesn't teach anything. Just hands you a packet to read. I have a lot of trouble with math and he doesn't explain how to do anything and the answers are always on the packets he hands out.
Ali navaab was a hard to understand professor. Handed you a packet of notes and didn't explain them. Just went over everything that was already shown and never explained things.
I've never been good at math, professor navaab didn't make it a whole lot easier, i'll give him credit he does try but he can be hard to understand at times and consistently showed up about 5-10 minutes late every week, computer is necassary to use the "Aleks" program to get work done so be prepared there
He's not a good math professor. There's a language barrier, he speaks perfect English but doesn't understand the questions asked. He only has 3 tests and they count for over half of the grade and they're hard and on material we didn't cover in class. I would not recommend this class for anyone that ha a hard time at math.
Awful professor! He just read off the slides from the screen. His lectures are so horrible and boring. He doesn't help you understand the material and his tests are hard. If you don't show up, he won't even notice. DON'T TAKE THIS PROFESSOR!
Didn't really learn much in this class. Took four exams, a couple homework assignments and one presentation. Overall this class wasn't even much of a class very boring. Professor gives a lot of extra credit on tests and curves just to ensure the students actually pass.
take his hybrid class. the hw is easy and you have unlimited chances at it. he gives multiple attempts for his quizzes. you want to kill yourself for the hour you have to be there, but you only meet once a week since it's a hybrid class. all he does is read off powerpoint slides. i'm really dreading the last test, which is in class.
attendance isnt required I realized this halfway through the semester. everything is online and you get unlimited chances on homework. 3-9 tries to take the exams!
Easy A type of class, No textbook but you have to purchase a my MathLab code to do exams and homework, multiple tries on exam and then he takes your best grade. He prints out the Powerpoints he goes over in class with the answers already in them making class feel like a waste of time (attendance isn't mandatory however). Thick accent but very nice.
Good Class, Good Professor
I dont understand why everyone gave him bad reviews. Hes a very sweet man. This class is an easy A. He curves the final and homework/tests get multiple tries. I would take him again if I could.
Had him a couple years ago, only took him again because I had no other options. Does the least amount of work possible .
Idk why his reviews are low. Hes so simple & wants everyone to get an A. If u take him online & dont have Zooms u teach yourself most of it, but the content is easy & work is simple. A few hws per chapter, 4 chapters in total for the semester, 4 small tests in total. He gave me extensions on all tests. If youre ok w math or good, ur fine. Easy A!
