A definate! Great Prof, very understanding.
strays off topic easily, but exams are a cakewalk. great guy
One of the very best!! Great professor, teaches history very well.
very easy class, very straight foward, he tells you exactly what is on the test and makes a study guide. he doesnt speak english the greatest but you can still understand him. also very funny
i wish all history teachers were like parsa. he was very understanding and taught with effort!
BOOYAH!!
He is a great teacher. He can be very easy if you study and listen to his lectures. He gives you the exam questions in advance, just prepare and you'll do fine.
Pretty easy--study guides for all tests. Can ramble a lot. I ditched constantly but will get at least a B. Nice guy.
Pretty nice guy. Tests are easy....just follow study guide. Go to class though (he takes attendance). You can easily sleep in class or eat without getting into trouble
funny, funny guy. the way he rambles off subject sometimes makes for a great laugh. i loved his stories. the subject matter is tough, but parsa makes it a lot more clear by telling us exactly what he expects through his lecture.
nice guy but very boring topic. class is based on 4 tests n a map test. don’t need da book, just go to blackboard to git da powerpoints lectures n study from dat. dats wat i did n i got an A (n i always ditched)
Dont be fooled by these other comments. He is not a good professor. Very boring, he takes attendence, and he test you on stuff that he never talked about. He will tell you to study one thing and give you something different on the test. He was crappy.
teacher is helpfull in giving students everything they need for the test
Very nice and very helpful during his office hours. He is a very funny teacher.
Fun history class. Subject is boring, but he gives an outline for excactly what is on the test. attendance is very important, but for history, he keeps it pretty clear and easy to understand.
His lectures are extremely boring, I found it very difficult to sit through his class without falling asleep or trying to find some way to escape. However he is extremely nice, he gives you a study guide that contains exactly what is on the test(except for the multiple choice questions)...His tests
SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO BORING!!! I feel asleep in all of his classes. You can't understand him at all. He grades weird too! Avoid him!
Class was sort of boring, we would copy notes off of powerpoint presentations everyday. But there were some interesting times. He's a very nice guy. The book helps A LOT with exams, if you read it through the exam will be an easy A, but questions are mixed book and lecture info.
ok...he is terribly boring. BUT...he gives u all test questions a month before the test. u kno EXACTLY what is on the test a month b4 hand.HELLO?EASY!He outlines the essay questions for u during class. I never went 2 class & it was 1 of the easiest A's i ever got.U R a fool if u dont get an A...
Cool Teacher. Nice guy. Class is kinda boring. Takes attendance which sucks but you know whats going to be on the test. Parsa is awesome and i would recommend him!
very easy class...kinda hard to understand his lectures at first but you'll get the hang of it.
He is a very nice helpfull teacher, although he is really boaring. He keeps you in class untill the last second. His lectures are long ZZzzZzzz... He is funny at times. His tests are not hard at all, if you study. He has no assignments except for the tests, and the final is not cumilative. In all this is a great class.
Dont need book, just go to class. Literally everything on the test is from his lectures. gives you study guide, which you can fill out completely from lectures. take good notes and you are set for an A. I liked his lectures, he tries to add interesting facts. Very helpful. kind of goofy spent one day listening to this greek song that he loved

Listen. Just go to class, and take notes. Before the test, study the**** on your study sheet w/ info on your notes. Dont buy the book. You'll be cool. A breeze.
he is the best, nicest guy. i hated history allmy life, he made me fall in luv with history! he talk about history like its his first time talking about it! he is awsom! he understands students problems i luv him! he i the best
GREAT!he's great, he gives u a study guide that u can even fill out with him during office hours, and everything on his exam is from that paper!fun ha? u dont need the book, just take notes, u dont even have to go to class u can get the notes off powerpoint, black board ,,,,easy class, i liked it,,,,i recommend u take him
HE THE BEST!! just go to class and take notes. i never took notes and got A on exams. one problem. the entire class is worth 100 points 4 exams 20 each. But hez soo funny. bad accent so kinda hard 2 understand him. plays music w/wat we r learning. very fatherly!! TAKE HIM!!oh hez an ezier version of Walia if u know him!!!
okay am i the only one that thought this class was ridiculously hard!? i know he gives the study guide to the test way ahead of time, but he is not clear in his lectures AT ALL. in fact, half the time he didn't even finish his lectures! he is a nice/funny guy, but the fact that this class is based on 100 points makes it really hard to get an A.
strong accent, cant understand him most of the time. class is boring, didnt learn a thing the entire semester. hard to get an A since the class is only out of 100 points so basically you have to get A's on all four tests. he's a difficult grader too, you have to write down exactly what he wants and he doesnt even tell you want it is he wants.
Explains everything very clearly! Gives extra Credit. Tests are given on study guides, if you study this then you will get a A on the tests. He also have a study session before each teach in his office, also 30mins-1 hour study session in class right before the TEST. If you want to learn, want to have fun, and get a A Take his class!
He is hard to understand at times but it isn't that bad. His tests consists of 5 mc, 5 short answer, an essay, and each test is worth only 20 points. His questions are specific - who, what, when, where, how, and why. He gives you a study list that is completely tedious, but it has to be done. Uses Blackboard but his powerpoints won't help.
He's just average, not horrible, not great. His accent is kinda hard to understand so if you want to hear better you cant sit in the back. Be prepared to spend alot of time studying for the tests. He hands out lengthy study guides and chooses a few of the questions for the test. (So you study/learn alot but are only tested on a select few).
his teachings focus a lot on the middle east and iran since he is an iranian. his accent is not bad. u can understand him. he works hard but his powerpoints r not really helping. only 3 exams(30pts each) and 10 attendance points, so many people were doing very bad!!!
He's a great teacher. WHy? Because he loves his job! He makes the subject fun and always tries to answer all your questions thoroughly. Go to class and take good notes, I got an A+...almost effortlessly.
Dr. Parsa is one of the greatest professors I have ever had...history is boring we all know it but his class is different. he cares about his students and if u go to the office hours there is no reason for not getting an A...he is very nice and undrestanding.
Most students tend to dislike history so they take Parsa down with them. He's enthusiastic about history and thats what i liked about him. Study the guides he gives you in depth and you can pass the class no problem.
Very easy, don't bother to read the book. He's nice, but I felt the class moved slowly and didn't cover much info. He asks ?s then lets students try to answer them for fifteen minutes, its really annoying. Accent can be difficult, so ask him to use the mic and you won't have a problem. Don't take if you want to be engaged.
He was funny and informative. Students make him out to be harder than he really is. dont get the book I never opened mine. Powerpooints are not really helpful, but your notes are. He gives you a study guide weeks before the test. Great teacher i enjoyed his humor.
He goes off on random tangents. He expects you to know a lot of material he doesn't cover in class
well although he does have an accent he is as clear as he can be, he loves to give information because he is very knowledgable in this subject. As long as you go to class you should be alright and make sure you take notes and get the defenitions for the terms.I enjoyed the class and hes funny too, hes a little hottie!
3 tests. Very hard. He gives you the study guide that you can download on blackboard like in the beginning of the semester. Essay Topic, multiple choice questions, and essay short answer. attendance is mandatory cuz its part of your grade too. He does go off random topics, and his powerpoints don't help you. =[
Awesome professor. Really helpful. Come to class, listen and engage in the lecture. I didn't buy the book. Never missed a class and got an A. I had no interest in history prior to taking his class. Take good notes and you should be fine. There were 3 exams and 10percent of your grade is attendance and participation.
AMAZING professor! this man can teach history like no other. just make sure you go to class eventhough it's not mandatory. attendance is 10% of your grade! pay attention & it helps if you print out powerpoints before class. very approachable. i'm taking him for 110B.
His class was fairly easy, but he spent sooo much time talking off-topic. He mainly does powerpoints and he posts them all on blackboard- just print out the powerpoints in outline view and write down what ever he says is important off to the side.. he expects you to remember what he talks about- it's always on the tests!
He's very knowledgable and memorizes everything that he talks about. The tests were fairly hard-memorize dates, keyword, and period of each event. He likes participation, but don't bother. Print out handouts and memorize like there is no tomorrow. I got a B- when i expected a C. We didn't get to cover everything do to technical difficulties.
Dr. Parsa is a really nice guy, but this class was pretty tough. There are only 100 pts in the class: 3 tests worth 30pts each and 10pts for attendance. His power points are really vague so GO to his office hours!! he'll tell you what you need to know.
gives out 3 exams worth 90 percent of your grade the other 10 percent is participation.. which he says no one will receive full credit on. He is a teacher who is hard to understand and often goes off talking about random topics... take this class and get a C.. but avoid him and get a better teacher if you can
Dr. Parsa is a fantastic professor! If you have an interest in history and enjoy a perspective beyond that of a textbook, he's for you. Very straightforward grading (3 exams+attendance), complete study guides, and many review sessions. Not difficult, but you must commit to at least a moderate amount of study and attend regularly.
Great Professor! with great knowledge in history. he is fair and reasonable in grading. 10% attendance easy to get for serious learner, not for student who leaves in middle of the class. Exams are predictable base on study guide. Study IDs and at least 3 essays follow PPT. Review session is great help to focus on main points. Read before class.
He would be great teaching a middle east or religion course, but his world history class was too ambitious. He got off topic and the class fell behind, which made the tests stressful. He does try his best though. Encourages office hours and has review sessions. Some people got C's and D's but I worked hard and got an A.
I completely hated this class, he gave us like 80 terms to study, but only picked 8 for the tests, and 6 essays, but only picked 2. His lecture wasn't clear, he got off topic a lot, and honestly his accent made the understanding harder. His grading was definitely not fair. I do not recommend this class, especially if it's the 3 hour long like mine.
All you have to do is memorize dates, keyword, and period of each event(there are over 30 total and he picks 10). The class is not hard, but takes up a lot of time. When i took this class, i saw 5-6 students("our friends" prof called them) cheat and it was so obvious, but he didn't do anything about it. We didnt cover all the material.
dude gets off topic for sure, im a 3.6 ish gpa student, im lookiing a d plus c minus grade right now, his tests are annoying to say the least, hes not very clear on what he wants on identies, dates i know, what they are, and impact, i leanred the hard way. there are much better proffs for history out there from what i heard
Professor Parsa is a fun, easy, and nice teacher. You must attend the beginning of class to sign in for participation points. There are 3 exams and all you have to do is study all the terms and essay questions and you will get a B. He does go off on lectures and gets sidetracked all the time and class can get boring, but overall it's an easy B.
Must attend the first part of class to sign role sheet. Always went off topic, never answered questions directly. I basically taught myself for the exams. Not my favorite teacher here, but not the worst.
This class is not easy. Just memorize dates, keyword, and period of each event(He picks 10 out of 30). He knows his material very specifically and answers all the questions. Once you know what he wants on the midterms, you should do well. We didn't cover Christianity due to the lack of time. The people (3)sitting in front of me were cheating!
He is a great professor. the class is not easy. there is a lot of information but as long as you attend class you should be fine. he does go off topic, but its still about history. You need to learn to take good notes and really study if you want an A. But he knows his stuff.
The structure of the class is straightforward, but in the long run, your grade depends on how much work you put into it. He gets off topic sometimes, but he tries to keep the class entertaining. He isn't there to regurgitate information, so if you don't want to hear about his insight, don't take him. Very approachable guy. Come to office hours!
have to come in first part of class too sign in. Always goes off topic. never answers questions thoroughly. offers single extra credit pints if you know the answers to his questions. you have to study 30 id terms and 6 essay questions, get tested on 8 id terms and 2 essay questions. overall not worth my money. wouldnt recommend him.
He is a very nice guy, but is not clear on what is relevant. goes off topic several times each lecture which can overwhelm the important information that will be on the exams. no homework though. grade is based solely on 3 exams
To do well in this class you have to do a lot of memorization (but afterall, it IS history). Attending class is pretty important because without his explanations, you won't know what the terms are. He's a very nice person though and likes to talk a lot. He can get off topic a bit but he's very passionate and caring.
I was not looking forward to this class at first, but I found it to be very interesting. Read the books, attend class, pay attention in the lectures and take notes, and show up for the study sessions before the exams!! It's an easy A.
He is the most boring-est professor ever. Even without the subject history, he's boring. He goes off topic all the time. He tries to make jokes to make him seem funny. He's so anal about his exams. He wants dates remembered, time, location, blah blah. Attendance is 10% of your grade. You have to sign in. I wouldn't take him.
Takes attendance for 10% of your grade. Need to listen to lectures and memorize a lot for the tests. Picks 8 or 9 ID's and 2 essay questions. No homework. If you study before the tests and memorize everything, it's easy. Otherwise, it's hard. Up to you whether to take him or not.
I love Dr. Parsa! I took him for both 110A and B. This is a great class for people who are stacked with classes within their major and don't have a lot of time to commit to GE's like this. Tests are easy, and he even reviews right before them. Also very interesting to talk to as a person. Take him!!
Heavy Iranian accent & a little difficult to understand. Passes a roll sheet around daily for 10%. Gives a full review session before each test. Write 8 of 9 IDs & 1 of 2 essays given on all 3 tests. Class is easy to fall asleep in & I didn't take any notes. Just pay attention in the reviews & study the ID terms. He's relatively easy.
I'm sorry Dr. Parsa. I really did not enjoy your class. It was very hard to pay attention because you told so many random stories that didn't have anything to do with the information we needed to talk about for the day. I got an A on every test because of the posted Powerpoints online and the textbook. He's a nice guy..just not my kind of teacher.
I could not pay attention in class. He was constantly off topic and would wonder why none of us didn't know the answers to his question: the questions were irrelevant to the tests and the class! I would avoid if you don't like reading the textbook (which was also unhelpful) and researching the internet.
You can sleep and eat in his class no problem. The tests are exactly from the study guide and he reviews it the day/hour before the test. So fill out the answers and look it over and that's that. Nice guy, easy class, painful study guide.
This class was really easy! Just have to memorize terms and essay answers prior to exams. He was hard to understand at times but he's such a nice guy and was funny at times! Attendance is mandatory too! I liked his class.
great class! he's so helpful and kind and genuinely interested in students' success. shame on those who surf on their laptops during class. they just don't get it.
Horrible class. He never actually lectured just told stories. And I still have no clue how he grades his tests because I know what I am talking about and once he administers the test he later grades everything in such detail that he basically fails me. Worst professor I have ever taken.
It was a great class to take as a freshamn. there are 3 exams you need to take throughout the semster, and each has 30 ID terms. you just need to memorize IDs and in your test you need to answer 8 out of 9 in the paper plus answering one of the two essays he gives in the test. Overall, Mr. Parsa made the class intresting.
A play-by-the-book GE history course. If you try, you'll pass with a decent grade; if not, then you won't. He talked a lot about his hopes and dreams, his wife, his interests; he defends the Islamic religion every chance he gets. Can be really boring if you're not into history. Sort of boring lectures. Three exams. You know the routine.
So boring. He always talks about his home country and it's near neighbors aka the middle east. You'll pass the class if you study by yourself rather than listening to his lectures.
I thorougly enjoyed Dr. Parsa's class. I had him for both 110a and 110b. It's a refreshingly easy history course for those who don't have time to worry about GE's due to stressful major classes. He is a genuinely kind person who cares about his students. Has interesting stories, too. I highly recommend him!
Very nice professor. Book not needed, lectures cover everything (types them up too). 3 tests entire semester. A little studying will be necessary to get a decent grade.
His class is really easy. He posts a study guide and even his lecture notes online. This professor trys to expand your mind and backs everything up with history. Do not buy the book. You will not use it. I promise 100%. Overall great guy with alot of excitement when he teaches, You won't find a professor as excited about teaching as Dr. Parsa.
So easiest class ever! Really sweet professor and he was super chill... You dont need to attend class to do good on the tests because lectures are posted on tatanium, but you do get participation points.. there are three tests which were quiet easy, all worth 30 points so the participation points will be the last 10 available. Def Recommend him =]
I loved Dr.Parsa's class and his teaching style! I definitely recommend him if you are willing to take good notes and study his lecture notes. He really enjoys coming to class and will almost always use the whole class period. Super sweet teacher!
Dont believe all the people saying this is an easy A because its not. THIS WAS A HARD CLASS!! So many people are failing and he is horrible.
Horrible class. Super boring. I couldn't get into the subject and his lectures made it even harder to like history because they were boring. Take someone else
extremely boring class. Parsa is a good teacher but he talks and talks and talks, sometimes I don't even know what he is talking about or if the things he talks about has something to do with the lecture. 3 test all written. STUDY ALOT. not the teacher to take if you hate history
HORRIBLE TEACHER. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS
Nice person over all, but not the best teacher. You dont need your book at all! I asked for help multiple times, but he failed to tell me what i needed to pass the class. 3 tests, all essay questions and you have to memorize exact dates. if you get this prof. drop the class!
Great, helpful teacher. got an A.. 3 tests only so study and go to lecture.. see him in office hours and he is more lenient. Really hope to take 110B with him
I got an A in his class, but I recommend not taking him. He's unorganized and all over the place with his lectures. Some information is in the book, some is not. He missed many days and made us take the exam anyway. Never covered everything. His disorganization and lack of teaching/structure stressed me out. Didn't learn anything. Horrible class.
It's based on 3 exams. The study guide is on titanium which was helpful but it is something you need to do on your own. You need to know a lot of detail to pass his exams. Lecture is real hard to follow because you have no idea where he's starting. Didn't even use the book. Overall this is more for someone who likes to do their work on their own.
Parsa should honestly not be a teacher. The only reason I attended his useless lectures were to sign-in on the attendance sheet. I got an A because I memorized the study guides, which were basically the exams. He goes off on tangents during his "lecture" & comes off as an idiot because he does not know what he is talking about half the time.
His class lectures are pretty boring and you have to attend because he passes around a sign in sheet that really affects your grade. Other than that I didn't really find his lectures useful. He does however, have lecture notes online and those were extremely helpful for test. His study guide is great! STUDY & you'll be fine :]
Wish I would have used his study guides from day 1, made the identifications and essay on the exam much easier. Attendance is mandatory, but rarely will you get through an entire PowerPoint on topic. I used class time more as a study period and to fill out the study guide, which you can do using the internet, no need for the book.
Dr. Parsa is a great guy. At times this class can become a bore but if you stay engaged it can become very valuable to you. He is very willing to help you out if you seek it. Class attendance is checked daily. ***Volunteer for the points during class they are key to bumping your grade up!!!!****
I took his class a year ago. I don't understand all the bad comments!!. if u study his lecture notes which is9 pages maximum u will pass the class w/at least a B. study his notes and remember the definition before each test. his final is not cumulative. I agree he gets off topic alot but I think way better than talking about history.
He does seem to get off-topic and boring during lecture, but the key to his class are his online notes & study guide. Look for the terms and essay questions in his notes, and you should be fine for the exam!
boring
Parsa is extremely passionate and presents each lecture with an extreme amount of animation. He gives reasonable office hours and answers any questions you have. The tests are multiple choice and essay but they aren't that hard. He is a very great teacher and wants all his students to love the material as much as he does.
I had his class for 3 hrs once a week, &I could hardly stand going each week. His lectures are extremely long and very boring because he tends to talk & talk &doesn't really give any time to ensure that everyone is still on the right track. He would also go on tangents which made it very difficult to follow along.
FIND A DIFFERENT PROFESSOR. His tests are ridiculous for a 100 level course, you have multiple choice, ID's and an essay question. You have to remember dates. He says they're not required but they are. His lectures are more like stories about his life, not history. If you want a bettereasier history class, find it elsewhere.
Parsa knows his history - that's for sure! Despite history being a rather boring subject, he tries to make it fun with witty and corny jokes. The book is not needed since Parsa gives you a concentrated all-you-need-to-know PDF for each section. Exams are easy if you study and attend his reviews. Participation points will save you in this class!
don't need a textbook or to pay attention in lectures, just read his notes online and memorized the terms on the study guide and its a super easy class, he seems like a hard grader but he lifts your grade a lot at the end of the semester
He is great at trying to get students participating and is always available to help but his lectures are not so great. He goes off topic quite often and never finishes covering the day's material. Attendance is mandatory unfortunately but his lecture notes are online which are key to his exams. Sweet man but not so great a lecturer!
Cannot lecture to save his life. He says 90% of what is on the test are his lectures, when they don't even make sense because he rambles on about nothing. Nice guy, terrible teacher. Take someone else!!!
I took him in a big lecture hall for the over 2 hour class. It was relatively boring, must sit in the front seat to pay attention. Mandatory attendance. if you study the power points you don't have to use the book.
The class it's self was interesting. His lectures are pretty long, and like most professors he does get side tracked. He talked a lot about his life experiences, which I found very entertaining. He posts up his lecture notes, that is how I passed with an A. He's very nice, and really knows his history! Read the lecture notes before hand!
He is a good guy. Very truthful in his lectures - his life experiences add great things to our discussions - he's not just an expert who read a book, but lives it. he likes students who are alive and talkative. he gets a chili pepper for always looking on point, outfits and grooming on fleek, although not too young, His spirit is YOUNG.
Only 3 tests worth 30 points each so you have to do well. His tests aren't even on his lectures but his lecture notes you must read to pass. Show up or he has no sympathy for you.
Lectures are extremely boring. Expect to pull three all nighters. 3 exams worth 30 points each. 15 multiple choice(1point each), 5 ID's(2 points each), one essay question (5 points).Attendence and participation is 10% of your grade(10 points). You can't miss class. He passes around a sign in sheet. Read lecture notes and do study guides.
Lectures are extremely long as he keeps on talking and talking about things that most students are clearly not interested in (as I have observed, most people put their heads down and about 30% of students show up). Tests are only 30 points each. He is lenient with the written part though. It's the multiple choice that's hard.
Professor Parsa is passionate about history, and he just wants to share this passion with his students. Lectures are long and often go off topic. All the information that you need is provided at the beginning of the semester via Titanium. The three exams are based on these Word docs. No textbook is needed. Participation is graded.
His lectures are amazing! I enjoyed every class session, and walked out each time feeling I learned something valuable. Exams are 15 multiple choice q's, 5 short-answer q's, and 1 essay. Not too hard, you just have to study. Textbook not used very often, lectures more important. Very helpful in office hours. Participate for extra credit.
He means well!!!! He definitely LOVES the subject, but his lectures are SOOO boring. He gives 10% of your grade to attendance, so going helps.. but he posts lecture notes online for each test, read & know those well and thats all you need to get an A. he gives you the ?'s for the test in advance, so just don't put studying/ reading off.
He is a very nice person, although he was fairly rude to me. His tests are only worth 30 points making them difficult, and he doesn't stay on topic during class. I would not recommend taking the class with him since he isn't very organized and doesn't cover everything.
Your grade is made up 3 tests and 10 points of participation. Everything that you need for the test is posted online, but he still takes attendance at class. He also does not allow any electronics in his class. Lectures get off topic often, but the ones he posts online aren't.
Your grade in this class is based on participation and your 3 exam grades. I suggest doing his exam study guides ahead of time and not trying to cram last minute. He provides his lecture notes online as well as his study guides at the beginning, which is extremely helpful. He also offers points for in-class participation so take advantage of that.
Their is only 3 exams but because of that it's harder that way. You have to be really good at taking notes. He did not give feedback on the exams. Both lectures and test are heavy. I would not recommend him.
Keeps class light hearted. He makes it more of a religion heavy class than a history class, just because it's clear he is passionate about religion studies. All exams are based off of his lectures, so you have to attend to take notes. He gives study guides for every exam, memorize the study guide because it's exactly what the test is.
He only uses 3 tests and attendance for a final grade, but if you pay attention, show up, and study your notes, you should be in good shape. He goes on rants, but they are often very interesting and give insight on the topic at hand. He is a really kind professor who is a great teacher.
His class is usually once a week. There is never homework that is assigned but its a good idea to study the material before going to class. There are 3 exams and no final. The lectures are very long most people find them boring but if you pay attention, you should do fine in the class. If you take his class make sure you study and read his notes.
He's great and really cares about history. His classes are usually once a week and 3 hours long, but sometimes he goes off topic and just talks about things that aren't even on the exams. He also grades on attendance and participation. There are only 3 exams.
His grades were based on three tests, but as long as you used the study guides and listen to his lectures, the tests were fairly easy. He is a very nice guy, and cared about teaching not only history, but how it tied into the world philosophically too.
This guy spent more time bad mouthing America and its troops, or preaching Islam than teaching anything relevant. If you are enrolled in any of his classes I highly recommend you drop him. It will be a huge waste of your time.
Read his book and you should pass. His lectures are boring. Since he made his book, his lectures are pretty much in his book. He adds too much info when he lectures. 3 Test. Around 10 MC ?s, 5 Vocabs, and 1 essay. Must write 3 lines worth of info for vocab. But u know them beforehand in his studyguide. Just do notecards early, same for essay.
I really enjoy taking his class. He is has a unique way of teaching history. Make sure you know all of the terms and read his lecture notes; they are very helpful for the test. Don't miss class!!
Ali Parsa, if he could wouldn"t teach History 110A, his first class he clearly states what he likes and how he incorporates it into the course but when he starts lectures he just starts going off topic instead. Parsa is a nice guy, he also is passionate about history just not the course he is teaching.;
The class was 100 points (3 30 point exams and 10 attendance). He is very nice, but goes off on VERY long tangents. Powerpoints are not helpful for exams. He does provide a study guide which basically gives you all the questions. Just memorize the study guide and you'll do good. There is also M/C so read the book for that part.
Likes to clutter occasional actual historical facts with a lot of his opinions and comments during his lectures. Very easy to become distracted and bored. Don't take his 2 hr 45 min class because he makes you stay the whole class period while he just talks about his opinions. he also takes attendance so you have to go to class and sit through it
Dr. Parsa is a really nice guy, but as I'm not a history person, his class was kind of boring. I took the three hour class and it was just so much lecture. He goes off on a lot of tangents. He gives you a study guide that is like exactly the test minus the MC part. Only 3 tests and 10% attendance. Take good notes in class. I didn't buy the book.
Prof. Parsa is passionate & eager to learn from his students. He cares & reminds me of an interesting grandfather lol. Lectures seem to last forever & impressively seem to come frm the top of his head. Read chapters frm his txt before class. Only exams determine your grade & you just HAVE to read & memorize dates. Tedious yet worth it.
He cares about his students success. He lectures with a powerpoint and explains it well, but doesnt always finish teaching the topics because he would talk about other things. His study guides are really helpful for the test. I got the online version of his textbook and was able to easily search up the important terms from the study guide in it.
This class was not very hard. His lectures are very heavy, but his book simplifies his whole lecture in simpler terms. His lectures are exactly like the textbook (even the same structure as his lectures haha!) He is very kind, however, he does go off topic quite a lot. Just sit in the front and you'll have no trouble in paying attention to him!:)
His tests do not make sense and he goes on and on about irrelevant things in class. Never again
The class is 3 essay tests, the textbook helped me at a lot because they go more in depth than his notes. He does get off topic and rants often but hey we all need to let it out sometimes and it kept me entertained. The only thing I did not like was you can only use your laptop if you sit in the first three rows and I like to sit in the back.
One of the best professors I have had as a freshman at cal state fullerton.
A lot of studying and memorizing.
Prof Parsa is a unique individual. I had him for the once a week 3 hours classes and 70% was just rambling. I can see how many people wouldn't mind but it just drove me crazy and was honestly frustrating. We fall behind each section and don't finish the material. Having said that, he is a lenient grader and a caring & nice guy. Definitely passable.
Grade out of 3 exams. Study guide is basically the exam. M/C is easy as long as you read his book. His lecture are VERY long /boring, but he is funny at times so not too bad. 10% of your grade is attendance so that's free points. He gives out points during class sometimes so read ahead. No HW and its a really easy class if you study for exams
One of my favorite professors I will probably ever have! Yes, he does talk a lot but U dont need to pay attention. I completed the study guide using his book and then completely memoried it. I got above 85% on all his tests. Attend all his classes so you dont miss the 10% for attendance. Very generous grader. Got an A- even thoe I deserved a B.
Dr. Parsa is a very interesting fellow. You will not learn anything from his lectures. You must complete his study guides using his book there is really no other way. His tendency to go on tangents makes it really hard to learn anything. I highly recommend bringing his book and study guide to class and just working on that every week.
