In Short: His exams are exactly like the homework. Memorize the hw and you should be fine. He doesn't really teach, he just tells you what the book says and has a hard time answering student questions as it seems he doesn't really know the topic well. Don't know how he is in his other classes. Didn't really learn much.
I had him last Fall, he's very good, I have to drop my other professor for the same lass and enroll in his section after many recommendations, I got high B is his class, but he does have a good way of teaching digital design, I really learned a lot in his class, I recommend him for EE 201 at CSULB.
I had him last Fall, he's very good, I have to drop my other professor for the same class and enrolled in his section after many recommendations, I got high B is his class, but he does have a good way of teaching digital design, I really learned a lot in his class, I recommend him for EE 201 at CSULB.
This professor is wonderful, besides his charming, he is very good at teaching EE211, take him and you will agree with me. I really thought about changing my major from Mechanical Engineering to Electrical Engineering because of him, I got an A in the class. His office hours are very flexible, as long as you e-mail him first. I really recommend him
Very good professor. I didn't use the book that much. All midterms and his final can be solved with information and examples given in class. Pay attention and ask questions when you are confused, he loves when you stop him for questions and never make you feel like you are asking something dumb/obvious. Very flexible on deadlines for HW and labs.
Nice teacher who has awesome lectures. If you do the HW, you should do well on the tests. If you need help, he can help you at office hours, but you need to email first. Very helpful on labs. Professor knows the material very well and explains it very well. Overall, i recommend this professor. If you want to learn, he is a good teacher to take.
One of the best profs in CSULB. Very demanding but well worth the effort. I learned more in his class than I did in the whole 2 years. Great teacher, speaker, good explanation of tough topics and a really nice guy, he solves an example for every section he teach (from the book). I wish I had more classes with him. Highly recommended.
Very easy teacher but will sometimes mix things up, making some things a little hard to understand. You can get an A if you literally just read the book since his examples are straight from the book. Will expect more of you if you're a guy and will be easier on you if you're a girl, which is lame but whatever. Tests are 10 questions, which sucks.
Good Professor!! Do homework and ask question then you will be fine. His Exam questions are from hw and example in class.
Great professor, makes the content clear and easy to understand. Is very open to questions and available during office hours. Be sure to do all of the homework and attend class. Exams are based off of homework and class examples. Highly recommend taking this course with Dr. Sleiman.
Easy teacher. Teaches straight out of the book. Let's just say you'll probably get an A if you're a girl. Seriously, he won't expect much from you if you're a girl and will give you extensions on labs if you ask (the latter applies to both genders).
Laughing bc he got a chili pepper. He's an easy teacher. He uses weird grammar on the exams so had no idea what he was asking sometimes. He's pretty chill, experiments are cool but kinda confusing. Just ask for help. I got a B because I screwed up on the exams and got C's. Just read the book and you're golden. Easy A.
Dr. Sleiman is honestly the best prof I had in CSULB so far. I took this course during the spring sem after completing 1st year in chem engineering. This course does require practice and if you do EVERYTHING the prof tells you to do, you will receive a good grade. Attendance is mandatory, I highly recommend you to attend his lectures. Labs are fun.
Dr. Sleiman, is one the unique good professors at CSULB, he teaches good and let you get the material with solving a problem related to the concept after each section, he is will known with the materials, always calm and chill, very helpful and flexible. Advalways attend his class, and do your H.W. your golden. Take his classes you wont regret.
Let me clear some things up about Sleiman and verify some things. This guy is awesome, he will be there for you and talk to you because he is younger and knows what you are going through in college. I myself am a male student who took him for EE 201, and now 211. I failed a test when going through personal things, and he let me retake it. Take him!
One of the best professors in CSULB. He makes lecture clear and understandable. His assignments makes you to think and learn the course. Office hours are extremely helpful. Charming personality and willing to help anyone in trouble. Highly recommend taking this course with Professor Sleiman.
He's lenient with the labs, meaning that you can turn them in whenever. He curves if the class does poorly on tests. He words questions in ways that are very hard to understand what he's asking. He'll ask questions on the test that were never covered in class (MOD-16 counters). Overall he lacks the enthusiasm I expect from professors.
By far he is the best Digital design professor. Take him you will get the material as you should. I did great in the class, but the tests need to be studied for. Very flexible personality. I will take EE 301 with him.
Uh. Great guy. Young and relatable. Teaches well, but can come off as a living solution manual at times. Tests (3 q.) come from homework - one from each chapter and are usually one of the last 5 problems. Attendance is mandatory. Studying is required but you don't really need the textbook. He'll answer any questions you have. Bad writing sometimes.
Best profs in CSULB. lectures are very productive with interest. I learned in his class more than I did in all my 4 years. Great lecture, speaks well, good explanation of tough topics with nice attitude, bad writing. I wish I had more classes with him. but overall very nice lovely kind and Good instructor. I will recommend u to take him for sure.
Sleiman is a bad teacher, don't listen to the reviews on here. His lectures are poor at best, he never goes over hw and does'nt like to answer questions in class. I haven't learned anything all semester and I haven't skipped a single lecture. He always lets his class out early too and his tests have no curve. Take him if like teaching yourself
Honestly, it was tough. But it wasn't unreasonable. There are 3 tests (2 midterms and final), hw and attendance. The hw was new this past semester, it was online and it took about 6+ hours to complete each assignment. Each assignment is about 7 to 13 problems from the book. Speaking of the book, his lectures are based on it, so follow along
Very considered and well educated. Definitely he will curve the class in case there is no one got 100 on the exam. You need to pay attention in class half of his test from what he lecture in class. Attendance is a must, very flexible on die dayes, take him for 301 and 211 you will be a winner.
By far one of the best EE professors I have ever taken. He is very lenient and understanding and he is always there for his students whenever they need help. His method of teaching is amazing, he explains things clearly and even though I disliked Digital, his class made me love it. I would highly recommend him for anyone who struggles with EE 211 .
Great teacher. He knows his stuff, can teach it and uses real life applications which is good. if you are engineering student and wana learn and become really good engineer just take him. I like his teaching he explains very well to. He can be a bit hard, but overall he is a great professor and if you can, take him!
Definitely not an easy professor but he is very clear and helpful with sense of humor. He assigned homework each chapter and we had 2 midterms and a cumulative final. He make the class fun. Highly recommended.
I am a big fan of Dr. Sleiman, I had him for 201 and 430, he is the best at teaching circuit design (EE 211) it is a hard class, you need to pay attention and practice by HomeWork, and with his lecture youre golden. He curves the class, 2 Midterms, and one final semi commutative, he takes attendance very serious. Definitely recommend.
Cool Prof. A lot of work but you will learn EE by actually doing it. Classes are 60 min of lecture, No quizzes, each student for labs must demo. Your grade depends on your report and Demo so be prepared! Take good notes or record the prelab lecture. He rushes through lab requirements & there are details which are only given verbally, I recommend.
Great professor, will take again if I the chance to. He goes over everything slowly, wants everyone to learn the material. Labs are not difficult but they require a lot of time. Exams are also some times difficult but he is not a hard grader, definitely he will curve if needed. Attend class, pay attention, ask questions and you will be ok.
This is my 2nd time having Sleiman as a teacher & once again I can't complain. The homework was new this semester (online HW) which was kind of a pain as it took way too long but it's doable as long as you try. The grade you get on this class is really based on how hard you try. Do well on exams & homework, ask questions, and you can get an A :)
This professor is very knowledgeable about the subject and a good lecturer, but he kind of likes to confuse you about random other things too. Lots of homework (which you should stay on top of) and tests are H.W. hard. Also, some times his lectures covered way more than necessary for the course. Be wary of that. Totally recommend him.
Learned a lot from this professor! Also is more than happy to help previous students when it comes to other courses as well!
He was an awesome Professor. His class is not easy per say, but I learned so much. That's the most important to me, he actually teaches the material well. I definitely recommend taking him if you can. I plan on taking Dr. Sleiman again.
I REALLY enjoyed his class and did learn a lot if your not lazy. He is always prepared with his notes, willing to answer any questions you have if the questions are not silly, He is very flexible with all students, humble, and willing to help anytime. He replied to my email promptly. I Wish all the professors were like him. A great Professor.
great teacher, would take him again. He does his best to teach you all what you need to know. His notes are very organized. He will help you whenever you ask for help. Replies to e-mails very quick. Do your homework and study your notes very and you will be good. Ask him in class whenever you get confused and he would explain it till you get it.
Great class, materials are very hard, but grading is pretty fair. Tests were Ok. He will give you good grade if you stick with it and finish the class. Of course, we all have to try hard and harder to earn an A in his class. Great semester, great class. I had him b4 and he is a good teacher for both classes. No doubt that I will take him again.
His class was fun- He is a fun teacher. The material was hard but if you do all the homework( Do not skip any hw and class if you want to get an A)You will be fine. There are 2 midterms and one final, tests come from homework and lecture notes. He is very fair teacher( his grading is fair) and super hot too Lol. I will 100% take him again.
Dr. Sleiman is a great professor. You get out of his class what you put into it, and he is always willing and able to help you out. That said, this is not an easy class, and if you think it will be, you are not going to do well. A number of us in my in the class did not receive A's, but you just need to study and think critically. I would take him
Honestly a very good teacher. I do know regarding my grade if I should be angry with myself or should I blame it on the materials or the class, I really learned Electric and Hybrid cars fundamentals, Dr. Sleiman does require you to do a whole lot of work but he actually teaches unlike others. Very fun class but lots of work, also very interesting.
Extremely good instructor. One of the best of CSULB's EE dept. NOT "easy" though his class has a defined curve & flexible with dues. Very helpful lectures but his writing is bad. Relies a little on our prior knowledge of basics. Very accessible during office hours and very interested in seeing his students succeed. Highly recommended.
Pretty tough class, but Dr. Sleiman made it fun. Curves very well. Tests can be hard but he will help you understand the material first. As long as you study the notes & do the homework & Examples in the book, the exams should be pretty ok. Go to his office hours, he helps you out a lot there if you have any questions. Very funny guy too. Take him.
Great guy; Excellent teacher, perfect introductory class, works in industry and is very practical. Knows the material well, he makes your coming to class worthwhile. Takes attendance, so make sure u go to class.. Easy to talk to and wants to help you learn.
If you want to learn and understand circuit design, you have to take Dr. Sleiman, he is the best, very Knowledgeable with the material, very flexible, and curves the class, very clam and professional, totally recommend him.
Professor Sleiman is very engaging, tough and clear in lecture! But he's also a really good professor presents the material in an easy way, and keeps students responsive in lecture. His tests are very difficult, but his curve is nice. He's a funny man who has a lot of sense of humor. I learned so much form his classes. take this professor.
Very tough class let me tell you that. Exams are hard, labs as well, but the professor is lenient and funny. Short good lectures, after all I did enjoy the class. I will take EE211 with this professor.
Professor Ali is by far the best professor I have ever took a class with. He is not only knowledgeable in the classes he teaches, he also tries to explain the ideas and theories behind evvery concept. If you have the chance to take any class with him. Do not hesitate and go a head withbhim. He is the best professor ever.
I'm going to go against the majority and disagree with the way Ali teaches the class. I did not find his lectures helpful, and instead relied mostly on my own reading. His lectures don't help with the lab portion of the course, VHDL, instead you're pretty much left to figure it out for yourself. Do the labs, and hw, and you'll get the A.
Great lecture and lab instructor for this class. All class notes are given in class which makes studying later on for exams a lot easier. He is very straight forward with what types of problems are going to be on exams, he only tests on what he covers. Homework, attendances are always mandatory but beneficial to studying for exams. Take him.
Best professor you will ever take! Very helpful and considerate, lectures are hysterical and fairly short. labs are fun. EZ homework. tests are easy and straight forward but long. just pay attention and take notes lots of EX CR grades on Exp so no need to worry if you bomb one. just take him, you will not regret it.
I took this class last year with another professor that I failed, which I did not learn anything with the other professor. I am glade that I pass this class with Dr. Sleiman and learned so much about Electric DC motor. Do not get me wrong, this class is very hard; He made the class fun with cute sense of humor. Take him if you want to learn.
Overall, good professor. Attendance is mandatory that you will earn 5% if you are in class, but show up to class to make the class easier, H.W. 10%. Is available for help outside of class. Tough class at the end it might be overwhelming but he'll help you through it.
He is a nice professor with great sense of humor! His exams are challenging sometimes but he curves them always. He teaches nice, at the same time he expect us to understand and learn. My class got all kind of grads A, B, C. If you work hard and know what you are doing you should be fine. If you actually want to learn. then go for him.
He is one of the best professors I have ever had, and the way he lectures it is very straight forward. However, if a student shows that he cares Dr. Sleiman will do his best to help him out. In the end, I was a senior student, but it happened that I took EE 201 with Dr. Sleiman as a retake, and he was really clear with his lectures Recommended
This is my 3rd class with Dr. Sleiman, again I was amazed with the effort that put in his lecture, and the class overall. Cool professor, understanding, tests are reasonable, I had fun in his classes EE201, and EE211, I totally recommend him.
He reads lecture notes given to him by someone else and does very little explaining. Doesn't answer questions correctly, so be ready to teach yourself
I liked the professors change in lecture to help the students understand the materials, I was having troubles, but the book is very difficult as well the materials. Tests are hard, and you wont understand the lectures, good luck with the H.W, you need to read more.
Finished all the chapters we need to cover for this class early, the professor are concentrating on the experiments. He is very helpful on Experiments, the lecture was amazing, test curved, and he explains the concept very well. Totally recommend him, I took this class with another professor I know he is the best. Take him.
One of the hardest class I took with Pro sleiman, I kinda of regret taking this class, the materials are hard, the home work were bad, and lectures didnt help, dont get me wrong, the professor did his best, as I know him from other classes I took with him, he is one of the best. You need to work hard for this class.
I was upset with the professor at the beginning of the semester, but I was amazed with the lecture shift the second part of the semester that made a big difference in the class, over all I ended up satisfied with this professor, great personality, and able to teach the subject well. I recommend him, but not the class.
Cool pro, amazing lecture with humor, I learned a great deal of Digital Design from Dr. Sleiman. Exams are fair and square, he explains the experiments very well, he takes attendance serious. If you want to learn in this class take him.
I like this professors way of lecturing, and handling the class, the labs was a pain in the B, expect 2 midterm Exams, Homework and a final, the grading was fair, I really would pick this prof brain again if I have the chance to in other classes.
Professor Sleiman is a great professor and is very easy going. He gives out a homework assignment per chapter and it helps you understand the material. If you were comfortable with EE201 this class should be cake. His tests are fair and a little on the easier side and the lab projects (5 total) are as well. Definitely take him if you can.
Not too bad of a course. Was a good semester and his lectures were clear.
Dr. Sleiman is the MAN, he is one of the most smartest professors in the EE department to teach digital classes, as well as a nice, very considerate guy, so any class with him is great. We need more professors like him in the EE department. Take him and you will agree with me.
Dr. Sleiman is a true gem at CSULB. He cares about his students and always willing to help. Class is pretty simple to understand, make sure to study previous exams!! if you don't get something, ask! He's more than happy to help until you do get it. Highly recommend!! Exams are 1st 2nd Final. Do the labs with classmates! Put in the work get an A!
this guy is the easiest EE professor ever. tests straightforward and he's a good lecturer. however he can be rude, if you ask questions he acts like you're stupid. he straight up told us that he's only a professor for the connections. but he does his job well and gives ec for every lab. i recommend him, just don't ask questions when he lectures.
So far I am satisfied with Dr. Sleimans handling his 451 class, I like the fact he relates concepts from real life to the lecture, study the homework and examples in the book you should pass the exam conveniently, tough class though. High sense of humor, very calm personality and professional. I am willing to take him for future classes.
Sleiman makes it his personal mission in this class to turn you into a better ENGINEER in digital, and he always succeeds. Stone cold brilliant. He once taught me about digital circuit technique during a lecture, and will regularly terrify you like all good professors should. Fantastic instructor and person.
He does really go well in depth with explaining the concepts of designing circuits into the actual implementation of circuits. There were 5 labs with extra credit, which I knew what I was doing, and with little help from him. The Exams are smart hard and tricky, so be careful but at the same time very easy, but there's a curve. I will take dr. slei
He was a good professor overall, I learned a great deal of Electric and Hybrid motors in this class.
I started this lab with another professor and I thought I was going to be miserable but thank the lord that I switched to Sleimans section, he changed that around, he made my life easier, all you need to know is MATLAB. Do the same as me.
Was a pleasure having Dr Sleiman teach me this class, Thanks.
Tough materials but professor Sleiman is awesome of what he do, he really makes an effort to teach you this materials. Tests are difficult but do the work you should be fine, he gives generous partial credit if you understand the gist of the problem, not to forget that he curves too, also the research paper are walk in the park. I recommend him.
Great Professor. I took his class, it is a lot of things to learn, but he helps you so much. He responds to my emails and always answered questions in class when students needed help. He taught this class to help us understand. Very funny with sense of humor, and charming personality. If you don't go to class then you won't pass. Totally recommend.
Professor Ali sleiman is good at lectures, funny in class and also one of the best professors out there.
Doctor Sleiman is among the Best, smartest, kindest, and most knowledgeable professors to teach Digital design classes. He loves Digital design and enjoys talking about it; he explains both the theories and concepts, also tries his best to make you understand the material. If you want to learn, I strongly advise you to take his class.
Cool Professor. very nice personality and encouraging. he wants his students to do well. Exams are easy hard, but curving makes it fair. I will take him again.
He'a an excellent Professor and has a talent to make students understand the most complex topic in this class. He is a hard grader but you can score very well if you thoroughly follow his notes and Home Work, and curves as a bonus. If you are willing to learn the subject then his classes are highly recommendable.
It was a fun class, and the professor was very cool, and helpful, just attend the class and do not miss any.
Amazing professor
Dr. Sleiman.... what can I say... If you come to class everyday & pay attention, take notes, this will help you, beside him explaining in lectures. The research paper was worth the time and trust me, if you don't show up to his lecture you will lose %. Take this Dr. for your 451 class he is AWESOME and lots of fun!! I am getting an A, hopefully?!.
Sleiman is a great professor, explains digital and gates very clearly. Was very detailed and clear in his explanation. He is Fair and reasonable Pro to what he expects out of his students, also he curves. I really like to see more EE professors like him at CSULB. Take him if you wana learn.
If you read the book and do the examples, you'll get an A. The only reason I went to class was cuz he is such a chili pepper
He's a great guy who is always willing to help you. The Lectures and hw assignments are a big help for the each test. His class is easy if you do your part like any student should. Professor Sleiman is also very understanding and patient with his students, because their success is his priority. I would highly recommend taking his classes.
I don't mean to be dramatic, but Professor Sleiman changed my life for the better. He inspired me in both my engineering and my life, and I am forever thankful for the wonderful experience of his class.
Best professor I ever had. Very funny, teaches on point, gives a lot of extra credit, very relax, he care about the student, you will really have to try hard not to pass this class. Best class and Professor! I took him on EE 201 and will take him again on EE 310!
I love Sleiman and his class. It's super interesting and Sleiman keeps you engaged during lectures. They said, he makes his tests way more difficult than they should be. I'm a EE major and I struggled, even with studying all the time. This class isn't an easy A but I enjoyed it.
Professor Ali is a highly respectable professor. He uses humor to make his lectures more interesting and makes an active effort to make sure everyone understands, he is one of my favorite professors. He truly cares about each student and wants everyone to learn. He makes connections with students. Want to take him again.
This is my first time leaving a rate, bc he is amazing! Even if you dont like Engineering, he is more than willing to help you through it if you devote the time, the circuit builder was very scaring to me, he walked me through it. Ask questions if you dont understand a topic, he will be gladly explain.
Professor Sleiman was one of my favorite EE teachers this semester. He goes by topics clearly and effectively in class so every student understands. Not always available during his office hours. Doesn't thoroughly check homework. Tests are also curved. Do the homework, labs, extra credit, and perform well on tests, you'll be just fine.
I hated this subject, but it was lectured well by Dr. Sleiman. His handwriting is horrible; you have to be in class to pass. I actually learned LABVOLT this year. Tests are easy hard. I will take him again for upper classes.
Sleiman is an awesome guy, and professor, there is no class without humors, teaches the class with fun. About the Exams, he is something different, jumps in to the hard world; you have to be present in class every meeting to pass the class, good thing he curves, but no partial credits. Overall, he is good, I will definitely will take him again.
Great Professor who knows a lot about Digital Engineering. His personality Keeps the class interesting and he definitely cares about his students. Take him for sure you wont regret.
Sleiman's classes are good, as a Professor he knows what he is talking about. The class is very engaging, he shows a fair amount of examples that show the real life implications of the subject that is being learned. He does provide the tools to excel in the class but you do need the textbook. There is also a fair amount of work need to pass class.
Sleiman is tough but fair. I would take a class with this professor again. He does give points for homework and attendance, but he's lenient on grading tests, and he answered all of my emails with questions.
I took him for EE 201. I had issues with his exam solutions every time, but the curve always took care of it. More importantly, I saw some of his 201 questions on my FE exam when I passed it a year later, which helped. If you design your own circuits and avoid online solutions for labs and homework, you'll learn from the class and get an A.
Sleiman seems like a genuinely nice guy, and he's a great Professor. His course structure leaves something to be desired, but you WILL learn quite a bit. Just don't expect to come out with a perfect grade if you do not put the time to study. I will take him again.
I have learned more from Sleiman than any other teacher in my 5 years at CSULB. He is helpful, gives real world examples of what is in the book, and truly cares about students learning. He will go out of his way to help you if you show that you want to learn. His classes are very challenging, but so is the real world! Would recommend him to ANYONE!
This class was tough, even though I learned as much I enjoyed the challenge. Sleiman's personality is charming, he curves and there is extra credit you need to do. I will definitely take again.
I had Sleiman for both 201 and 451. He is always willing to help and show you how to understand the material better if you ask. Do the work and study and you'll be fine. Don't just take this class for the easy A because you actually need to study for the exams. Sleiman is very caring and personable, I'm sad I won't have him as a professor anymore.
Sleiman is the man. Took him for EE 451 and one of the most interesting classes I took. He is very kind and understanding. He worked with us to have fair dates on our presentation. Take him.
The Worst Professor I've had so far I do not understand how he has a high rating on here. He was not helpful at all, he half ass's all his lectures and clearly does not care about his students. When you ask him a question he is so short and is not help. The class would have been easy and fun but I ended up learning everything from youtube videos.
Had him in 201, always accessible outside class and by email. Spent the whole semester chatting with him, answered all my questions. Get the textbook and try to attend classes. Review you digital course. Exams are straight forward.
Really good professor, very flexible gives you lot's of opportunities for extra credit, and to turn in the work anytime for Exp and home works. I learned digital in this class. I will take him again.
He is always willing to help if you need help just make sure that you at least try for a bit before you go for help from sleiman, otherwise he will not help you. Will take him again.
Sleiman is amazing! A really good teacher, makes it so simple. I had another professor last semester for 211, I retook this course with sleiman, I tell the difference, I will continue taking him for other courses.
This course is very lecture heavy with some opportunities to answer questions and preform circuit thinking. Sleiman doesn't use power points for his lecture he writes on the board which I prefer. Classes are big which gives more opportunity to learn from questions asked. Homework is manageable by Mastering Engineering program and exams are OK easy.
I really was satisfied with professor Sleiman, not to mention he is a showoff sometimes, but always get things done to the expectations, he is very flexible, and considerate. Show him you are serious and you care, he will do the same. take this class, you will agree with me.
Sleiman is a GREAT teacher. He has high standards but is always willing to work with you to help you improve and be the best Engineer you can be. His passion for engineering and education is evident, very confident and funny at the same time. Take him.
Pr. Sleiman can be a bit showoff sometimes, but overall a good professor and a nice person easy to deal with. You need to work on your own for the Labs though, he expects you to apply what you learn from lectures, it was difficult for me, also was a challenging class, at the end of the day I really enjoyed this class.
Extremely knowledgeable. lectures a bit too fast so it's a little hard to keep up on notes, best zoom instructor so far. Would recommend taking this course though. One pet peeve, he needs to stop comparing to show off. Ugh!
Sleiman is a great Professor! I enjoyed coming to his class before, and now his live zoom meeting. He gives a lot of chances to do extra credit. He is a tough grader when it comes to the exams but they're not hard. Just study and ask questions and you should be fine! See you for 301 next Semester Sleiman!
Tests are difficult, so study up. If you do bad on one, then that's your grade. I really enjoyed his lectures; he covers all the material in an easy way. However, the labs are a bit difficult due to the online environment. He is accessible for help, and ask questions if you are ever lost or you will regret it. He is eager to help.
Sleiman, what to say. TAKE ANY ENGINEERING CLASS WITH HIM! He is an amazing prof who cares about his students. I went to zoom office hours several times and he was always willing to help. He provides great notes & is definitely one of the best profs I've had. I've compared notes with my friends who are with another prof and Sleiman are way better.
Took this class with Professor Sleiman. Class did not come easy to me and had to work very hard to get a good grade, it was a smooth semester though. Some of the lectures were over my head but when I went to his zoom office hours he simplified things for me and I was able to grasp some tough concepts. Extremely intelligent person.
I had Dr. Sleiman a few years ago EE211, and have since gone through school and am now in industry. Though his teaching style took some adjusting to, he hit the fundamentals in way that *actually* prepared me for industry. I still sometimes use my classnotes to help with the work I do today for circuit design. He's a good professor. Thanks Dr. S!
Amazing professor! I really enjoyed his class even if I suck at Eng I really work hard through the semester I had him for 201, 211 and 301 really good professor just lots of work, also gives you lots of opportunities to turn in the work 4 in class. I wish I wouldve taken all of my Eng classes with him.
I love your class. do the hw and you pass
Amazing smart professor, plus an inventor, loved his academic experience and professional journey. I learned great deal in his class so far.
Sleiman is very tough but his class is so much fun and you will learn a lot.
Class basically covered the things EE students should know and Sleiman brought some EE graduates to talk about their career paths. Course content was pretty interesting, but there is a lot of writing because papers were typed in single space. Other than a lot of writing, the class was pretty nice. Attendance is mandatory.
I think Sleiman's strong points were definitely 201 and 301 he was great in those, however here the concepts can get really dense and his lecturing style isn't the best. He had his backs to us a majority of the time writing equations on the board since there was so much. Sleiman is very lenient though and if you study you will surely pass his class
Professor Sleiman was a nice and caring professor. For EE 200 he did provide a little too much homework for being a 1 unit course. I probably wrote more for this class than for my written English class. However, he is very passionate about Electrical Engineering and I hope to take him for upper division courses in the future. No exam for the class.
Sleiman is just awesome...the subject was very tough, but he makes convenient to students to follow....checks whether the students get the conceptual understanding or not. Would be a pleasure if you had a chance to take a class with him especially 201, 301, & 211. He is so respectful care a lot about his student. his door is always open to help.
For a 1 unit class, he gives way too much homework. Most homework are one pagers single spaced and size 12 times new roman. The research papers are 3-5 pagers single spaced size 12 times new roman. He does give you good information on the major tho so i do appreciate that aspect of this class. I kinda dont recommend him just cos of the work load.
Dr. Sleiman is among the best professor I've ever had at CSULB. His lectures are clear and understandable. His tests are challenging, but attendance makes a world of a difference. He is very detailed on the board and is willing to review any info that you need. One of my FAVORITE so far, answer questions, very understanding and down to earth.
I really enjoyed my last semester taking a class with Sleiman, take him you will learn and have fun at the same time. The class is tough don't get me wrong, do the homework and be in class to pass.
Great Professor. Will work with you if you're having problems. I came into the class having known some of the material and he helped review and learn the new stuff. Great guy. Loved him. Fairly entertaining. Take him for your EE classes, I heard he's an amazing teacher for EE201.
Favorite teacher at CSULB so far. Makes class fun & interesting with his awesome sense of humor. Learned more than I thought possible, this is a tough class though, but this professor always fair.
I would take sleiman again, as much I enjoyed this class, he is very chilled and a bit fast sometime. Exams is very similar to the HW problems. He takes attendance very serious.
Really learned a great deal from Dr. Sleiman, he is very knowledgeable & resourceful professor. You have to write many assignment, but they are pretty easy, no exams to worry about. He was flexible, but very strict on attendance. I enjoyed listening to the guest speakers. I will take Sleiman again.
Good class. It's Engineering, so it's not going to be very interesting if you're not already into Semiconductors. He can be a funny guy sometimes & he is a good with a good grasp on the subject most of the time, some times confusing. He will help you if you have a question and solve H.W. problem in class, also he is flexible, which is very helpful.
Pretty laidback prof. Lectures are him just reading off of slides. Surprisingly a lot of writing for a 1 unit class, there are 3 essays, 3-5 pgs single spaced, there are also 4 guest speakers that give presentations and you need to write a page about it. Attendance is mandatory and is 15% of your grade. Stay on top of the work and you'll be good
Sleiman makes this class easy and fun. High sense of humor, very helpful, so far I am enjoying and learning in this class.
Professor Sleiman runs a pretty straightforward class, with lectures focused on key topics and guest speakers providing valuable insights. While the workload is manageable, the assignments can be time-consuming. Unstuck study proved to be a helpful study tool alongside the class materials. Overall, an engaging course worth taking.
Second time having prof S. He really cares and wants you to pass, so ask questions and participate. Every lab he offers extra credit. Tests are similar to homework and lectures, so take notes! He does take attendance. 201 has seminar/lab but he just lectures for ab 1h then you have time to work on experiments & ask questions or you can just dip.
Just an okay professor. His verbal explanation of the final exam conflicted with what was specifically written, confusing much of the class. The course itself is easy, but sometimes exam questions are unclear, perhaps due to a language barrier. The lectures don't have much structure and are often rushed. Professor ALWAYS leaves lab very early.
Funny guy, lectures are great. Every time i left his lectures i felt as if i had actually learned something and the way he teaches and explains things actually makes sense to me. he is so relatable and funny and has the best humors. Gives LOTS of extra credit opportunities on labs & doesn't allow cheat sheets on exams. Choose him as your professor.
amazing professor. a little tough grader but easy tests.
Funny and helpful professor but does not really cover much material and I feel like I did not learn much in this class besides how to wire IC chips correctly. Maybe okay for simpler courses but I wouldn't take him for a class with tougher material.
For EE200, lectures are just read off the slide and pretty boring material. Guest presentations are really interesting and useful. Writing assignments are arbitrarily graded but seems easy to get an A in this class. Professor is funny and doesn't keep you in class long.
Rewarding class, Sleiman lectures is simply PPT with explanations, but lots of writing for 1 unit class, I loved the guest speakers though. He takes attendance very serious, be there for an A.
I've had professor Sleiman for 200, 201, and 310. The students who like him only do so because he's an easy A and mildly humorous lecturer. Sadly, he is completely checked out, doesn't know the material, and just regurgitates the textbook verbatim without adding anything else. Take him if you want the easy A-B and can self study the material.
Sleiman is a nice professor who makes sure his students understand the material. Because of this however, his lectures do go in depth with the material. He makes sure to solve Homework in class and explains well. Overall he is good.
This professor is very helpful and genuinely cares about students' understanding of the material. His approach makes learning more engaging and accessible. So far, it's been a great experience!
I have to leave Sleiman a good rate for helping me in this class, the class was smooth and hard, Sleiman made it fun and understandable. Be in class, do the H.W. and do the experiments (5 in total) they are hard if you do not pay attention. I am planning to take him for other classes.
Professor Sleiman is truly awesome! He is friendly, approachable, and always willing to help students understand the material. His explanations are clear, engaging, and easy to follow, making even complex topics manageable. Headsup, lots of writing, but not bad.
Sleiman is a genuine instructor who cares. He is always willing to help during office hours, making it easy to ask questions and seek clarification on difficult topics. While his lectures can move a bit fast at times, so keep up with the pace. His teaching is effective though. I appreciate his dedication and would definitely take his class again.
A bit mad at Sleiman this semester, but it will be cleared out. This class is complicated; it seems he is knowledgeable about the material, but needs to slow down. He solve every homework problems in class, which is very helpful, tests are similar hard as homework. I will take him again.
Sleiman is very considerate and chill prof, I have learned a lot in this class. Test are homework hard.
I took Dr. Sleiman for EE 451 and EE 453. The class was very straightforward. As long as you take good notes and attend his lectures, you are sure to do well on his exams. Wish I was able to take more courses with him! He made upper division Power courses extremely fun and enjoyable.
Prof Sleiman is a highly supportive & knowledgeable instructor. While he can be a bit fast at times, but always willing to reteach concepts. He demonstrates a strong command of the material & very effective during office hours. When I missed two lessons, he took the time to walk me through lesson. I would gladly take him again & highly recommend.
Sleiman is well-organized, with lectures that align closely with assignments and exams. He is always prepared and provides real-world examples that connect the material to industry applications. Very helpful, both in class and office hours. The labs and projects are challenging but fair, reinforcing key concepts like logic gates. Take him.
This is presented as a PHYSICS class! Do not be like me thinking it's "gonna be dope" I am terrible at physics. Concepts were very difficult to understand, and all of the tests were incredibly hard. Homework was solved in class but they rarely, if ever, related to any of the questions on the tests. Average was a C, with no curve at all.
Dr. Sleiman is an outstanding professor who brings clarity, structure, and passion to a complex subject like Solid State Engineering. He has a deep understanding of the material and explains it in a way that makes even the most technical concepts—like crystal structures, band theory, and semiconductors—accessible and engaging. loved his class.
Sleiman is an excellent professor for this class. I had him for EE200, he was relaxed and supportive, I plan to take him next semester for EE346 I've heard great things. He takes attendance seriously, and he is very helpful during the labs gives useful hints while encouraging to work through the problems independently. I highly recommend him.
Class took my will to live and made me rethink my major. class was meant to be easy but with this professor I had to take a Tylenol every week from the headaches he gave me. exams were meant to be easy, but questions were always unclear and wasn't until you got the exam and answer sheet back that you say ohhh thats what he meant. AVOID!!!!or else..
I really enjoyed sleiman class even though it was hard at times. Two things I did not like were the lab was harsh and how the tests were long. I felt Dr. Sleiman was a good teacher and thought the hints for the labs were very helpful.
Sleimans class is fairly straightforward but I kind of knew most of the cods that were described. Dr. Sleiman is good, not very exciting but not boring, I like his style though. Seems like he is pretty tough for the undergrads!
This is one of the classes I enjoyed, the professor was on time and lectures are very useful, the guest speakers are amazing experience, no exams or quiz's for this class. Sleiman is an inventor him self, his story was inspirational, I loved this class, take him you will understand.
There was a lot of work to do in this class but in a good way, none of it was super hard or confusing to me and you could get lots of extra credits. He did lots of demos and explanations in class that helped and his grading was fair too. I also really appreciate doing the projects on the board before assigning. Take him you will learn a lot.
Prof Sleiman was one of the best professors I've had at CSULB. The midterms and final were challenging, but he is approachable, engaging, and genuinely enjoys teaching. Lectures are clear, though success requires consistent effort on labs. I would recommend taking his class.
Smooth class, prof was cool.
As with any higher-level Engineering course, there is quite a bit of work. Prof Sleiman makes class interesting and provides great feedback specific to you. You will have 2 midterms and a final, no quizzes. Do your work and you will do great in his class! I would definitely take a course with him again!
This class is challenging, and I thought it could be harder, but it turned out to be manageable. Sleiman is a good will organized professor, and I preferred his board-based lectures. Staying on top of homework is important.
I am not the brightest when it comes to coding, so I was intimidated taking this course from the start. However, Sleiman was a terrific professor, probably one of the best to explain coding I have ever had in school. He gives really good lectures and will help you whenever you ask. Study hard for the exams however because they are worth a lot!
The Professor is very experienced in digital design, he made this class easier, I really learned great deal of designing with actual hands on experiments. You must complete all assignments and attend lab lectures to earn an A. Missing key labs will impact success. Taking Sleiman clearly demonstrates his expertise.
Get ready to write 7 essays throughout the semester. He takes attendance and makes it part of your grade. CSULB should honestly make this class online, the class felt like another introductory engineering class, with lectures on topics usually covered in an intro course.
