Very good teacher. She makes the class fun and exciting. I recommend her to anyone that is interested in ASL.
Allie is great! She makes learning Sign Language so much fun and she creates a very welcoming environment that is open for questions. I would recommend her to anyone.

i had her in her 3rd trimester of her pregnancy, so it was hard on all us but she was great and easy and fun plus the classmates help a lot too.
She's great! She's funny, and she really cares to see her students excel. Her teaching is very clear and she will not move on until you understand. Plus she's a nice person!
She is awesome! One of the best teachers I have had at MCC
I think if you show up you can't fail, she's one of the best teachers I've ever had. She loves what she teaches and makes you love it too. I wish I could have had her for every level that I take. As it is she's the only teacher that made it through a whole semester. BE WARNED IF YOU MISS HER CLASS YOU WILL BE LOST.
Sweet. Enteresting. Great teacher and cares how her students do! Take her!!!!!!
We had an interesting semester in 102. We had 3 teachers total. I learned the most from Allie. She really seemed to care about her students and that they were learning not only sign, but also about the culture. She is very clear, and overall an amazing teacher.
Wonderful teacher! Take her as much as you can! She's not easy but she works with you and really wants to see her students do well. I learned a lot from her!
Mrs. Marino is absolutely one of the most innovative teachers I have met with during my student career. She is very student oriented, and when she finds the students she knows are "in it to win it" she embraces us and expresses her enthusiasm at our success. Great Teacher! I hope to work with her more in the future.
She is FABULOUS! Excellent teacher and a very nice lady, I'm sad she is not teaching 102 I cant wait to have her for my 3rd semester!
I love Allie!!! She is an amazing teacher and is very helpful
Teacher was nice, but when i started this class i was not aware that it was hybrid so make sure you can do it half online. A lot of the material you need to learn is taught online. the class material gets a little redudant. buy the books so you don't have to deal with lab techs! overall a good class just a little time consuming!
Allie is a terrific teacher. She obviously has a love for the subject, and it comes across in her classes. She is fun and smart and I really learned a lot from her.
She's a very fair professory. She gives you clear instructions and ample time to do your work. She's allowing us to skip our final if we are happy with our current grade - how cool is that! This is not a "coasting" class, you have to show up and do the work, but she's definitely likeable and fair!
Hybrid Class, great teacher. It was fun taking Sign Language.
Be prepared to go to class. Each class you learn new items. She is clear on what is required, and she is fair. If you do the work you will get the grade!! I get test anxiety and she helped me to overcome it!!!!!
I loved this class.. Allie is so much fun and such a good teacher. She keeps things relevant and wants you to succeed. As long as you show up and pay attention the class is super easy and interesting. I wish she was teaching next semester.. I would definitly take a SLG class from her again.
She is an amzing teacher! the class can be a little difficult so you will need to show up everyday because something new is taught every class. Depending on the student studying will be needed. Im not much of a studier so I did fine. Also do the hw, its really easy thats where i messed up, could have gotten an A. I reall suggest this class and Alli
we could only miss 3 classes throughout the semester, but class was pretty interesting so that was ok! Allie was encouraging & I enjoyed learning from her
we could only miss 3 classes throughout the semester, but class was pretty interesting and necessary so that was ok! Allie was encouraging & I enjoyed learning from her
Allie was great! She was very enthusiastic and made it a point to make sure you understood what was going on in class. She was a really fun teacher to have and I would take her class again.
I took allie's class for SLG 101. The class was so fun and there wasn't alot of homework. I would take another class from her. I would highly reccommend taking her SLG 101 class. I learned so much.
Over all as a teacher she was cool, but she is fast at signing, which made it hard at times. She was a hybird class so most all work is on Canvas. There wasnt much turn in homework just the workbook. She was really nice and enjoys teaching her students. She took time to ask her students how they were doing which was nice. I would take her again.
She gives a ton of extra credit and is really willing to work with you
Allie is the greatest teacher ive ever had at mcc so far. Shes so nice and willing to work with everyone. Class is so fun and you get to know everyone (: I would recommend only her for asl!
Love! Love! Love! She is so passionate about what she does and makes sure you have a clear understanding of what is going on in class. She is willing to work with you and help you in any way she can. Best teacher at MCC hands down!
This is a hybrid class. Allie sincerely cares about the well being of her students. She is a blast to have as a teacher. She created a learning environment that made me want to absorb as much ASL as possible. Go to class, do the activites, and you will have a great time and learn alot.
Allie is AMAZING. I absolutely love her. She is really dedicated and you can tell she loves what she does. This is not an "Easy A" class like most people think. An A is definitely achievable, but you have to work for it. And by work, I mean study. Come prepared to this (hybrid) class. I really wish she'd teach SLG 102 (hint, hint). (:
You can tell Allie loves ASL and the Deaf culture.Come ready to work, and if you do your part she will go above and beyond to help you. If you do all she requires from you, you WILL learn. This is a hybrid class so much of the learning is done at home. My only complaint is that at times there were issues with canvas.
Despite being an online class, she is very open to comments, questions, or suggestions. Class was interesting, but make sure to keep up with the reading. Homework and tests were always due on a set date so it's easy to remember. Overall, pretty good class!
Very enthusiastic. Good teacher overall.
I loved this class! This was the one of the few classes that I actually enjoyed online. Fun discussions, interesting videos, teacher participation. The closest thing that you can get to being there! Allie was super helpful and always encouraging. Due dates for assignments/tests are always set and easy to remember. I wish it wouldn't end.
She wants you to believe its not an easy A. But i did minimal studying and minimal outside of class work and got an A. This lady will break her back to help her class. SHe was a wonderful teacher and I would reccomend her to all students!!!
I had Allie last semester in a hybrid class and this year in SLG 101. She keeps the class very interesting by using a variety of learning sources (videos, lectures, game activities and additional learning sources). She is one of the most enthusiastic teachers I know. She is involved and wants you to succeed.
The class has a good amount of work very demanding only select this course if you dare. However, in all, it is a fun course if highly motivated class discussions are the best. Moreover, the practice tests are great for review, and the videos are fun to watch.
I took Allie's Fall 2013 class. She is a great invested teacher who cares. She is entertaining and works hard during class time to keep you engaged and learning.
Wow, this is one of the best professors I´ve ever had at MCC! She will break her back to make sure you are learning! She is the most understanding and down to earth professor! This class has a lot of work, but Allie makes it simple and fun! The tests and final are open book, so you´ll be fine! Take her! Easy class if you have the text!
Honestly, one of the best teachers I have ever had. She's fun, nice and actually cares for her students. The lengths she is willing to go to help he students is above and beyond anything I have ever encountered. Anyone with an interest in ASL should definitely her calss.
You can tell Allie is really passionate about the subject and her students. If you have the drive to learn and the time to devote to the online portion of the class, I highly recommend her as a teacher.
Allie was by far the best online teacher I've had. Like others have said her passion for subject is clear. She always read your posts and thoughtfully comments.
The class I had with her was hybrid, so if you're not studying at home you WILL fall behind and class will become much harder. However, her lessons are very simple and she's a bright personality which helps make class go by fast. Over all, I really loved having her as my teacher.
Allie is extremely easy to get in touch with and very helpful and respectful. She was the best online teacher for me. Plus, her assignments are easy to understand and complete, but before you have to study study and study
Allie is awesome at working to constantly better her class. She makes her safe extremely available and is willing to work with you on anything you need. SLC201 in particular was an exciting and super interesting class. You do have to participate in group discussions but the content is always enjoyable.
She is a awesome teacher. It was an online class and she was always willing to help out. She offered extra credit for those who wanted to video conference with other students. I will take her again for SLG101!!
I took this class online and it was amazing. She is very clear on what she wants and is willing to help you with anything you need. She is super nice too! Also responds to emails fairly quickly. There is a text book but I just printed off the chapters online. Participation in the discussions is important!
SHE IS GREAT!!! ALWAYS THERE FOR YOU AND WILLING TO HELP. SHE GIVES CHOICES THAT SUIT YOUR LEARNING. I REALLY ENJOY HER CLASS. I WILL TOTALLY RECOMMENDED.
Do the homework, do assignments on time, & participate in group discussions & you will pass. Class itself is not hard & examples of the reflection paper expectations are provided to give you an idea of what she is looking for. The class materials are also very accessible for deaf students to be able to participate. I highly recommend to everyone!!
Allie does a great job at interacting with her students. If you don't have a partner for ZOOM conferencing, she'll volunteer. There are multiple group assignments, but nothing intimidating. There's "discussions", "zoom conferences", and (if she chooses to continue this option) "infographs". She was the best instructor I've had in a while.
Allie was a wonderful online teacher! Expect a lot of work, but if you turn it in you're guaranteed a good grade in the class. Very interesting subject and a great class to take with this teacher.
Enjoyed the class
Enjoyed the class..............
Enjoyed the class. the teacher was helpful
Going to class and studying is the Only way to be successful in the class.
Allie is fun and energetic. It was a hybrid class so be prepared to do a lot of studying at home. Doing the online stuff makes things a lot easier to understand in class. Be prepared to be put on the spot when she calls on students and asks questions. Also, be aware that there is no talking in this class. It's weird at first but you get used to it.
Online Class. There were readings, assignments, and tests every week. Not too difficult but you MUST do the reading, participate, and make sure you make time in your schedule to do the assignments and tests. Not a hard grader and she gives good positive feedback for every assignment. Decent class! I definitely learned and got a lot out of it.
Wonderful teacher. She gives you a million different ways to study and get better. The easiest way to succeed in this class is to study the vocab literally 5 minutes before class and you will do much better (yes, that's all it really takes). You'll be embarrassed if you don't study AT ALL because she does question you one-on-one in class.
Allie was AMAZING!!! I would recommend taking the hybrid class in a heartbeat. Voices are OFF during class, which means it can be uncomfortable at first, but stick with it! Review the vocab before going in, it helps you be able to follow the conversation easier. Do the workbook, quizzes, and tests on time. She does not accept late work.
Allie is a great sign language teacher. I cannot recommend her enough. Voices are off during class which is a little odd for awhile, but it really does help when its time to enter the deaf community. Studying outside of class is important, you wont succeed if you don't. Allie is very helpful and offers much advice. I learned so much from her.
Allie is a wonderful teacher! I loved her class (: She is hearing, so communication is a bit easier. All classes begin and end in silence with the exception of announcements at the conclusion. Don't be intimidated by it; although it'll be uncomfortable at first let your inhibitions go and participate as much as possible. Workbook is a must!
Allie Marino's SLC201 class was the best class I've ever taken online. She offered different choices for how you wanted to do a discussion post, and gave a lot of variety in how you would like the class to be constructed. She obviously cares a lot about teaching and linguistics, and I could really tell even through an online course.
Allie is an awesome teacher & one of the best I have had at MCC, I would highly recommend. She is very consistent & organized when it comes to homework, practice quizzes & tests. She provides options if you have test anxiety & would prefer a project instead & is very fast to respond to any questions with clear answers. She is awesome!
took this class as an elective. There is a lot of group work, really a lot, if you aren't in to that be weary. She gives you a lot of options on how to do an assignment it makes Canvas a little bit of a mess but it's nice to have the options. Heavy book use. Practice quiz before each test that is helpful. just don't be lazy with it, you'll pass.
Took it online. I never liked linguistics-- and I still don't. With that said, she made the process of learning it much less painful. Do your assignments, follow instructions, read the book, and you'll do fine.
Allie Marino is probably the best teacher I have had in school so far. She is hilarious, and makes ASL very clear. She has a very unique perspective and shares a lot of information that is necessary to understand ASL. There is a lot of book work but it is easy. Vocabulary needs to be reviewed as it's distributed to be successful.
Going into the class I was scared of learning a new language with new people. But she was very fun and made the language approachable and never left it all up to you. She understands if you have a bad day but expects you to pick up on the slack, like a teacher should.
This was probably the best class I have ever taken. Allie is absolutely wonderful. She was very personable and available and helped the students gel together and get to know each other very effectively - especially considering that this was an internet class. Being in Allie's class has confirmed my desire to enter the field of linguistics.
Absolute favorite class, She is amazing! loves to get to know her student and makes learning a new language fun and not stressful. Yes she does expect you to keep up but she walks with you along the way. Amazing at what she does and genuinely loves to teach and cares about her students
Really loved having her! I had her as an online instructor for intro to linguistics. She is very interactive and makes the whole online experience a smooth trip! If you have any questions she'll respond very quickly. She also provides multiple testing options because she believes each person learns differently.
Make sure you do the reading. Since it is an online class, there are a lot of videos (don't worry they're not boring). Participating in the online discussions are a crucial part of your grade.
Allie is amazing!! This is a language class so participation is a given especially a non-spoken language. Will explain things if you don't understand and is always wanting to help.
She's amazing. I recommend her to everyone. She makes learning sign enjoyable.
She is a great and humour teacher, she also help the student and you will enjoy to her class. The textbook is not required, but I recommonend you to buy it, it is very helpful for the signs.
I can not explain how much I enjoyed this class. Professor Marino was so pleasant and responsive. The content of the class was interesting and the workload was in no way overbearing. I would love to have a class with her again. She's one spicy pepper!
AMAZING! My second classes with her, and she is great. Useful media links that help make points clear.
She is amazing, She cares about the students and she is available any time. She will always answer you question and explain everything if you are confused. I loved her class, and you should try it.
If you have a choice to choose her I HIGHLY recommend it. She is always helpful and available and she doesn't make you feel like any questions you ask are dumb. Her course outline was easy to follow and she was very easy to work with. Again, i definitely recommend her!
This was the best language class I have ever taken. You actually learn things to be able to have actual conversations (although simple) with classmates. She's a really funny teacher and let's you know what she expects. I'm planning on taking her again!
Whilst the grading time frame can be a little tight with out leeway. This teacher is caring and understanding towards all students, including those with anxiety or learning difficulties and will find an alternative solution with out favoring or babying (for lack of better term) any student. Definitely a great course with fun, immersive stories.
I absolutely recommend Allie. She goes out of her way to make sure you understand the lessons. Most of the time, 70% of the lesson was no voice, only signing. Don't let that scare you. I got used to it and it helped with learning ASL.
I definitely recommend taking Allie - we covered an incredible amount of material and learned a lot about Deaf culture. Be aware that her class is usually 100% no-talking, which can be intimidating at first. The class was more difficult than some of the students were expecting - definitely take it, but don't expect an easy A!
Great teacher, amazing class! You don't need to buy the book - the language lab has copies you can use. However, I probably would have bought the book if I had known how much we'd be using it for the class.
I took her online class. She was really good in grading, responses and feedback. I had no clue about the subject, and it was difficult in the beginning. Read the chapters, take the quiz and practice quizzes and you can score tons. Also discussions are fun and easy scores.
The class was great, the content was well spaced and she was quick to reply if i needed help.
She is a great professor and I took her 101 and 102, the textbook is not required, but it is definitely help you lots. Her teach style will tell you story and create ASL environment. For those feel hard, it is normal, ASL is hard. It is easy, luck for you. She will tech you what you expect and want to learned.
She does a good job making the Online class interactive and enjoyable. Their are a lot of interesting and fun material that you are able to discuss with other students and the teacher.
I wish her class was on campus! She is such a energetic teacher and really seems to care about the subjects she teaches. I will also be taking her Sign Language class. Some of the work can be a little hard to understand, but Allie is always there if you have questions. Communication is key with her! AMAZING!!
I've had four different ASL teachers and Allie is the best. She answers questions you have and is willing to work with you. Books are mandatory because the videos and homework are on them. Great teacher
Absolutely Amazing teacher!!! My favorite class this semester. Allie is amazing. She is so unbelievably helpful, extremely approachable and a hilarious person!! She takes the time to learn your strengths and weaknesses and she genuinely wants to see you succeed. I could not recommend her more.
Awesome teacher, nice person. It's nice to have a good time while learning
Great and enthusiastic teacher! She very obviously cares about her students succeeding. As long as you keep up with the workbook & online quizzes youre golden!(Which are due every Tuesday.) Work load is small. She also gives extra credit opportunities if you form a study group with your classmates. Easy A!! Ive taken both SLG101 & SLG102.
Allie is a nice professor if you show her that you're trying hard in the class. If you struggle or seem behind she WILL call you out in front of everyone which is embarrassing. Just keep up with tests and the workbook and you should be good. Gives extra credit opportunity if you meet with a study group. Tough grader on the videos you upload.
Love her!! I have taken SL 101 and 102 with her and got A's both semesters. She is very understanding if you need to miss class, just communicate with her. As long as you pay attention in class, you will do well. However 102 was a bit more difficult assignment wise. Please take her class, you will learn so much
Allie is amazing! I love her. She wants you to succeed and really respects her students and their opinions. I've learned so much from her. You really get to know her and your classmates through this class, because you are signing nearly the whole time. She's understanding probably one of the best professor's I've had so far! 10/10 would recommend!
Amazing Professor! She makes you feel cared about and really engages with her students. She shares her joy of Sign Language and doesn't make it scary to learn. She works with students and gives great feed back. Absolutely ADORE her!!! She is very down to earth and funny!
She is amazing, I've had her since my first semester of ASL and looking forward to have her in my last. Very caring, considerate and funny.
This class was super fun, very hands on and interactive. Excellent teacher! She really tries to get to know you and help you be successful. She gives you extra credit opportunities. I loved this class. Everything done is class is very important so don't skip! Can't wait to have her for SLG 102 next semester.
This class was not difficult at all if you do your part. Mostly just research topics and reading from the textbook to get through the quizzes. Loved how we were able to pace ourselves since most of the modules were unlocked and we could get ahead if we wanted to. There isn't much more to say than it was an amazing semester taking this class.
She is an amazing teacher, really funny, and I love how she teaches.
Allie I love you! So supportive and helpful! Made Learning ASL so much fun and stressed the importance of not only learning the language but the culture. Questions are always welcome and don't be afraid to not know something she'll always try her best to explain it. Make sure you don't miss a ton of class. It's difficult to catch up if you do.
Allie is the best professor I've had! She is always understanding and caring. Showing up for class is necessary to succeed. The class can move a little fast, but she will never go faster than she thinks will not allow you to get an A, this goes for tests as well. She will never send you into anything that she believes you aren't prepared for.
I loved that this course was mostly self paced. I finished the whole course before Halloween because of this. Quizzes are all textbook based, and she has a lot of great extra material if you want it. Searchable textbook makes this class a walk. Give yourself time for the free range projects. They are tricky to understand at first, but easy to do.
Allie is a professor that words can't do her justice! She is so caring and passionate about this language and ALL of her students. She is so understanding and helpful, her class is amazing and you will learn so much from her. I 100% recommend this class, you will not regret it. Nothing but good things to say about her!
Phenomenal choice for people who appreciate a well-organized, concise teacher and course. If you're enthusiastic about Linguistics do not be afraid to ask detailed questions, Ms. Marino will give you detailed and incredibly constructive feedback. Otherwise, the class is fairly easy. Lots of tests, but they aren't difficult and help retain the info.
Allie is so supportive and kind! All material is easy to understand and well-organized. Read the required textbook (cheap, too!) to do the very easy tests, which is the majority of the classwork. There are also some projects. She allows a great deal of creative freedom with them. She was generous and flexible by extending due dates due to COVID-19.
This was my first online course taken and Allie blew it out of the water! She made everything very clear from the beginning. You always know what to expect on assignments and she will always help you if needed. She is a very caring person and genuinely wants her students to succeed! PLEASE TAKE HER! You won't regret it I promise!
I absolutely loved this course. This was my first semester taking nothing but online courses and this professor is the first one who truly wants you to succeed, I promise. Take this course online and I am sure she is even better in person. You're going to need your book & take notes weekly. The class is well structured and no surprises. Good luck!
Allie was INCREDIBLE! She has such an infectious passion for ASL. She makes learning fun and easy, while still covering everything necessary. Attendance is necessary since it is a language--same goes for participation. She's all about effort, though!
Hands down, best professor! Her class was flexible, but still rewarding. I thoroughly enjoyed it, and my respect for this professor only increased throughout the semester. She cares about her students and tries to make her class the best it can be without compromising the intent of the class. Would 100% recommend!
Loved this professor and her class! She really cares about her students and is always willing to help. Assignments and quizzes are straight-forward and not designed to trick you. The class is not excessively difficult, and you can learn so much. I would take a class from her again!!
She has you do projects once a month and there is a lot of freedom on how you would like to do them as well. There are short quizzes you do every week on the reading but she gives you a practice quiz to take as many times as you would like.
This was my 2nd class with Allie, & I 100% would do it again- & wish she taught all my courses. ASL101 online could not be easy to teach for her but she most definitely succeeded. If you want to take this during the COVID era, don't be afraid, you can do it. Allie makes you WANT to succeed & without a doubt you will with her as your teacher.
I took ASL101 online and it was honestly my favorite class!! She is one of my favorite professors and gives great feedback. She is also upfront with that she expects and that it's not an easy A. You will learn so much from her and her sense of humor makes this class more fun. I'm sad she didnt teach level 2 ASL because I would definitely pick her!
Allie was an excellent teacher! She pushes you to really learn but is always there to answer questions and provide feedback.
I took ASL101 online and it was my favorite class!!she is one of my favorite professors and gives great feedback. She is also upfront with what she expects from you and that it's not an easy A. You will learn so much from her and her sense of humor makes this class more fun. I'm sad she isn't teaching ASL level 2 because I would definitely pick her
This was such a fun class and I would most definitely take another class with Allie. She made the class fun and not seem like a chore, which was a bonus with the pandemic. With this class there wasn't a physical textbook but there is an online "book" so to say that is required. Also, expect to put in the work becuase it is not a walk in the park!
I really enjoyed this course. There are several quizzes based on the readings (free book) & a few short papers (less than 300 words each). Lots of videos to help you applied what you learned. Everything seems focused w/no busy work. You could easily finish the class in 2-3 weeks if you worked a bit each day. Big focus on children and education.
She's one of the best instructors I've ever had. Seriously, if you have a chance to take one of her courses, DO IT.
She is amazing professor, and I would recommend to take classes with her.
The book is a must-read! Not only to help pass your weekly quizzes/tests but also was an excellent book with tons of information. Mrs. Marino's linguistics class was one of the best classes I've ever taken! I highly recommend this class! She allows for individuality and creativity which is hard to find with other teachers! I learned a lot!!!
Caring and easy going professor.
Allie is really nice and friendly. Chapter quizzes every week, projects with review discussions in groups. Projects are a little difficult but easy enough. i still hate discussions shrug. i have to take this for my major but it would be an easy enough filler class if you're interested in linguistics. interesting stuff, learn a lot
Allie is great, super nice and friendly. Chapter quizzes every week, 3-4 projects with review discussions in group. Projects are a little nerve-wracking but easy enough. i still hate discussions shrug. i have to take this for my major but it would be an easy enough filler class if you're interested in linguistics. interesting topics, learn a lot
Allie is one of the best professors I've had at MCC. The class mainly used an online website that was very easy to understand and if I had any questions Allie made sure to answer ASAP. She gives tons of extra credit, and as long as you do your work and practice the signs it's an easy A (plus its overall a super fun class).
I absolutely loved this class! Prof. Marino is so down to Earth and while she is very candid with her feedback, it is done in the most respectful way. That being said, do NOT get into this class expecting an easy A. Especially online, you must practice in order to be successful. She provides you all of the tools, but you alone must do the work.
Allie is so knowledgeable about the subject and really gets to know her students, even in an online setting. This was my first time using the Remind app to contact our teachers and Allie was always quickly available to answer my questions, and I really, really appreciated that. I learned a lot and really enjoyed the class.
The class was completely online and on my own time, and she did an amazing job helping me start to learn ASL. She doesn't make you spend hundreds of dollars are the textbook and disk that's normally needed for an ASL class. She makes Quizlet cards that help a lot in the online setting with learning ASL. She's amazing period.
I LOVE ALLIE! Shes so funny and caring about the language and the students. IT IS A LOT OF WORK but so is anything worth working for. She is always there when needed, she grades a little heavy but the learning material needs that in order to develop the skill. 10/10 loved taking her class for this course! DONT BUY A BOOK! EffortEasy grade
Professor Allie was by far the best teacher I had this year. She made taking ASL for the very first time very comfortable for me. She made learning very fun and she gives good feedback. I learned a lot from this class, and I would definitely take ASL 102 with her if she had a course coming up soon. For sure recommend!
Allie is the best! I wish every teacher was like her. Caring but thorough. She is great at what she teaches and she doesn't forget we are human and things happen. You need to show up, participate and communicate and this class will teach you while being fun.
Professor Marino is awesome!
Professor Marino was truly amazing! I took her class online and it was my first ASL class. For being online it was fast-paced but extremely informational. She is available through Remind usually so ask questions if you ever need help!
Very fair with grading, if you do not do the work/practice, you will get lost or fall behind. But she does her best in trying to help you understand the material. Very fun and actually wants to be there and teach. The instructor was considerate, respectful, and courteous to students. I would recommend this class to a friend.
so nice and very fun. would defiantly take this class again or ASL 102 with the same teacher. Not too much homework, but enough to understand the material to be ready for class.
the class is self-paced and pretty much everything is based on the textbooks. as long as you can motivate yourself to do the work (which isn't nearly an overwhelming amount) then you will do fine. Professor Marino responded within a day anytime I contacted her and provided opportunities to practice tests to learn the material better.
She's super great. Teaches super clearly and answers any questions. Also helps out if your struggling. She's very fun and caring.
Allie Marino cares about her students. She puts a lot of effort into her teaching and her ASL skills are excellent. I would take another class from her - definitely.
Allie is the perfect teacher to have if you want to start learning a language. She is super patient and understanding and will work with you to ensure you properly know the material. The class is very welcoming and I have never felt like I didn't want to go. She has made learning ASL an absolute blast.
Allie is by far the best teach I have had! Her teaching style is very clear and she is always willing to help students if they need extra help to grasp a concept. I can't suggest taking her class enough and I will definitely be taking more classes with her for future semesters.
Ms. Allie Marino is a great teacher. Assignment and quizzes are easy, just need to read the book. Final can be a project or a test. Final test is easy based on the quizzes of the whole unit. The hardest thing in this class could be projects and they still be easy.
The course was well paced, with a quiz correlating with every chapter of the textbook. If you do the reading, the class is set up for you to succeed. The free range projects at the end of each module allowed for student choice and creativity. Allie was also very available to answer questions and provide feedback. I would highly recommend her class!
Allie is an amazing teacher. She is funny and aware of everyones needs. I had a rough 2 semesters and she was so understanding with me regarding attendence. If you are wanting to learn the content, this class will seem easy and entertaining. I appreciated that quizes didnt have a timed limit so I could work on them over a few days. Love this class
She is a great Teacher and very accessible when need her for help. Thanks.
Allie is an amazing professor. I took her 8 week online course and it was the least stressful class that I have taken. You have a practice quiz, which you can take as many times as you want and a regular quiz for every 2 chapters. She doesn't do discussion boards and the free range projects she gives you complete control on how you want to do it.
Alice Marino was incredibly helpful during the class! She was easily accessible, down to earth, and always willing to help! The course was fast paced but there was enough time to complete all of the assignments. I would love to take another course with her in the future!
Enjoys unconventional approaches to projects. Great resources and feedback. No limit on practice quizzes. Swift responses and grade posting. I would definitely take another one of her classes
Super kind teacher who gave a lot of good access to information. Made my first online college class a real pleasure. She grades quickly and gave a fair amount of work. She provided a soft deadline which was when she suggested work be done by but had hard deadlines for all work to be finished by, which I loved! All around fantastic class and teacher
Professor Marino is a fantastic ASL teacher. Her lessons are clear and engaging, and she's always happy to provide extra help. The class is challenging but fun, and unstuckstudy was a great study resource alongside the textbook.
She has a lecture every class, and stays at our pace and moves on after making sure we're ready. Her class is easy to keep up with, I love her teaching style.
Professor Marino had great feedback on the free-range projects, and she provided great examples of what she wanted in the projects so that you can get a good grade. The practice tests are incredibly helpful, and you can take them as many times as you want before the test. Great professor and a great class for those who work full-time.
The best ASL professor you could have. The instructor herself is so incredibly kind and caring. She will help you in any way. Her lectures are fun and easy to follow along with. If you need a language credit, go with ASL this class is the best! There are only a couple of assignments a week, and they are pretty easy. Favorite class I have taken!
She's easy to get ahold of and gives great feedback. If you pay attention at all and participate you'll easily pass. The textbook is easy to digest and the chapters aren't too heavy.
Participate! This class is easy as long as you pay attention during class and communicate with her when you're confused. She's not afraid to slow down for you. Also worth mentioning since this is an ASL course: she is a hearing instructor, and not Deaf.
I took her linguistics class online, there were a few opportunities for extra credit and the textbook was easy to read. She was very responsive as long as you turn in everything on time you will easily pass. She provides lots of extra media that makes everything easier to understand and more fun to learn if you go through it.
She gives ample time for you to read the content before taking a text. There are very few assignments. . The videos, tests and assignments are engaging and exactly over the reading content. I would recommend Professor Alice Marino. This is my first class back in college after a year off and I was able to jump in and navigate the class effectively.
Allie is easily one of the best teachers I've ever had! She creates a very comfortable, fun, and interesting learning environment. She is funny, extremely proficient in ASL, and makes it clear that she cares about you as a person. I am so glad I took this class and would 100% take any other class taught by her!
She clearly wants students to succeed and reached out to help me even when I didn't deserve it. Difficulty is hard to rate since learning a language is hard, but she does an amazing job teaching ASL. Class is entertaining but in a way that enhances, not detracts from the material learning. I cannot recommend her enough
