Good Teacher for Chem. Lets you use open-book/note tests.
Class is a nightmare. Everybody in the class has a D or F so I'm guessing there is point raising. Feels that chem is learned outside of class . I feel it should be taught in class for the money being paid. She wastes too much time talking about lab.

I am an A student. Avoid her class. She is rude, defensive, and totally uninterested in helping students. Your grades will suffer and it will only be more difficult for later science courses as you will learn NOTHING. Grade F for Ms. Monroe.
AVOID HER CLASS! You will not learn anything and it will only be more difficult for you in future CHM courses. She is rude, mean, and will let you know that she has absolutely no interest in teaching or helping you outside of class. What a waste of $$$.
This is by far the absolute WORST teacher I have ever had. Open book open note tests provide no help--tests are impossible!!!!!!! I also am an A student-I graduated sum****laude from USF.
I had Ms. Monroe for Introductory Chemistry lecture and lab. As a teacher, she is straight forward. Her tests came straight from her notes. She gave lots of little tests, so her class was easier to pass. I would take her classes again and again.
Not very entertaining, but she's a teacher who knows her stuff. No need for a textbook... that's a plus.

Very rude, apathetic and unhelpful. If you don't know the work, you are an idiot to her. Doesn't teach. Open notes and book tests weren't helpful. Almost no one does well. Unless you are a chemistry buff, don't take. Will damage GPA!

Ms. Monroe is a really, really nice lady. However, she is a horrible teacher. Her tests are open book/open note, but they are really hard. There is no real way to study for them. DO NOT take her if you actually want to learn something in Chemistry.
Female dog. I got very ill (in the ER) during her class. She offered no assistance, instead told me that I didn't have a chance in hell at passing her class, something no good teacher tells her student. I'm surprised to see any good remarks about her; just about everyone who's had her hates her.

I'm a good student but I had to drop her class. My class went from 28 people down to about 7. Tests are from MACT/PCAT banks,there's no time to finnish, and she flat out doesn't give a f#$% about her students. She's rude, mean, and lazy!
Shit man! She is very hard. And u should really listen to me cuz I am not dumb or stupid. I mean I was the best student in my high school chem class and got an A in Chem I. So if somebody like me is having a hard time, u must be very very very smart to pass it with A.

I took her for intro lab and thought she was a great teacher and very nice. She comes off as a really mean person but she is actually quite willing to help anyone with problems. She also explained everything quite clearly. I would take her again.

She's a great lady, but you have to utilize her as a resource for learning. She lays everthing out very well and gives you tons of supporting matieral such as power points and practice quizzez. I got an A and didn't have to take the final.
Really really sweet and hard working. The only people who bad mouth her are those who do not try. I got a B in her class. It wasn't easy but with the help of her extra credit it boosted my score. Everything is clearly outlined in her class, you have to be brain dead not to pass it. She is always in her office if you need her.
i took her for a biology class. she really was not all bad. but the one thing that drove the whole class crazy was the fact that all her lecture time in class was done on a slide show and that was what she told you was going to be on the test. but come test time it wasnt. great teacher but beware!!!! ps there is extre credit
Please stay away from this class n teacher. Not very helful!!! 25chapters within 16weeks; 5 exams and 1 final exam ---> terrible class. This course (or this professor) is the hardest one that I have eve taken. I recommend U to find another campus for better understanding n grading :<

Physics,Anatomy,Chemistry,Maths are much easier than this class is. I agreed, she teaches Bio, not students. We need extra extra credit for this class, if not we will have Cs and Ds by the end of semester.
Monroe's lectures are very dry and boring. She is, however, very knowledgeable and gives ALOT of extra credit. In order, to get As on her tets (multiple choice) you must study. Although we never use the textbook, buy the book for the resources.
She's an old and picky lady. Trust me, her quizzes (4) and practical Labs (2) are extremely hard. There are few assignments during the course and lots of lab experiments. The midterm n final r crazy w/ 50 questions to answer. REMEMBER to write anything you can, she's very picky in grading. She and Dr. Tsien are in one "crazy" team.
Okay folks, the *class* IS hard, but she does a lot to help the students succeed. She's in her office all the time and she always welcomed me when I had questions. She does supplementary review sessions on her own time outside of class, puts up review sheets on Angel and ten practice quizzes per chapter, and gives extra credit. I'd take her again!
Pretty bad teacher. Can't communicate material well. Read the powerpoints verbatim. Tests not very hard. "Quizzes" available through Angel and the questions made up 80% of each exam. Study the quizzes and learn on your own and your fine. She was a real **** this semester when I went to ask for feedback and check my progress.

She reads everything off the powepoints and takes attendence at the end of the class so you have to listen to her read for one hour. Tests are everything BUT material on the power points. She forms such a difficult test questions that you will be scratching your head and wondering what to do !!!

She is an okay teacher. No matter you take for bsc 2010 it is going to be hard. You must do the quizez on angle they will help you on the test. If you know those perfect you can prob. get a C. But you still need to study.
This class was hard as expected, but this teacher made it especially difficult. I would not recommend her if you want to actually pass the class. She gives power point presentations every day, so expect plenty of time to sleep. And if you don't have any other choice than to take her, make sure that you do all of the quizzes, and all of the review.

I just took my first exam-was shocked at my grade! Had nothing to do with what she teaches in class. Very monotone and boring, first time I ever fell asleep in class! I thought I would enjoy Biology-she makes you hate it. I hope I make it through this semester:(
This teacher is pretty easy because she puts most of her answers for the tests online. She is very monotone and not very enthusiastic. BIG PLUS - You got one point on your grade for every class of hers you show up to. Its not bad at all. VERY EASY!!!
This class is extremely boring, she reads you powerpoints everyday, I had to teach myself. If you have already signed up for this, be sure to write down your test grades because she makes it impossible to find out your grade at the end, she won't post them on Angel or tell you in class, you have to go to her office hours. I took her for intro to biology and that has got to be one of the easiest classes i have ever taken. You have to be a complete idiot not to pass that class. She has practice quizes on angel and includes 35 of those questions on the 50 question test. Your good for a solid C then. Do the test reviews for a B or A. She gives ridiculous extra credit!!!
She is very nice as a person, but she does have a monitone voice. She is willing to answer any questions that you have with enthusiasm. I really liked her and reccomend her in the future. Make sure you have a lot of caffiene before you walk into her class though.
Though monotonic, she is a good professor. Makes good analogies to help you understand the material. Her class is quite easy, but sometimes the tests get a little tricky because not all the questions are based of the practice quizzes she gives you online.

Go to class for your extra credit it is a big help if you have low grades. Test are 6-9 questions for the practice quizzes and 2-5 from the concepts of the textbook per chapter.

Answered questions with another question. Said everything like a pre-recorded robot. Uninterested to help anyone. Won't accept any late assignments or assignments by email. I had her for my Biology Lab class, She is near useless in that function. She explains the lab, then promptly disappears for up to an hour, checks back, and then disappears again, then a few minutes before the lab ends, goes over the results we should have had. Take anyone else but her for the lab.

This is for the lab, BSC 2010L. Worst teacher ever. Takes points off without mercy. Boring like no other teacher. Not a nice person to talk to. Most boring teacher ever. Speaks in a monotone voice. She reads off a PowerPoint and barely elaborates, so very hard to take notes or stay awake. Don't bother coming to class. Memorize the practice quizzes 10 minutes before class and you'll do okay on exams. Do the extra credit at the end!! (Only way I passed the class)
Only passed this Lab because I had an honors student as a lab partner. Very boring and she leaves after she explains what to do. Quiz at beginning of every class but reviews almost word for word the answers so they're easy. Takes attendance from the week before's quiz. Wouldn't recommend taking her for lab.
Don't want to complain, but she is the WORST PROFESSOR EVER!!! I work/study hard, but it is impossible! Practice quizzes and lectures mean nothing on exams. She said exams were based on knowledge questions, a.k.a.memorization; but, the test was all about applications! Plus, test questions are on a very high level...shoot, this is BIOLOGY I!

It takes her two or three times longer to give directions on how to do an extremely simple procedure than it does to do the lab. Leaves the classroom for an hour or more at a time.The only teacher I have ever had who would go back on an already graded test and take off more points on something she missed before.
It was not so bad, so she reads off powerpoints, but she knows biology. If you read the textbook and study hard it really helps in the end. I actually feel that I learned something in that class. It is important to do the extra credit (boosts by a full letter grade).
Professor Monroe is a competent instructor. Her teaching method is clear if unexciting. The practice questions on ANGEL are easier than the actual tests, so watch out. You have to know the material in the textbook cold to do well on her exams, although extra credit helps. Anybody who works hard in this class should be able to get at least a B.
If you want an A in this class, do ALL of the EXTRA CREDIT offered from the BEGINNING of the course. She offers three forms of extra credit: 1) class attendance 2) designing crossword puzzles 3) submitting weekly study activities. Lots of people end up with a C or a D on the tests, so the extra credit is very important.

I had a 3.8 gpa prior to her class, and i have taken some pretty hard classes like A&P 1,2 CHM 1,2. She is by far the worse teacher i have ever had in college!!! She must hate her job and her life! I wish i would have droped this class the first day!
although i read most of the reviews about monroe before i signed up for classes, i still took her. BIGGEST mistake ever. she is horrible. the class average on tests is about a 45 or 50. For the final exam, she just told the class to study everything. **Only Plus - end of semester, she bumped whoever was failing to a C! Im a 28 year old Veteran of the US Army. Ive dealt with some difficult people in my life, but Ms. Monroe rates up at the top. If you care about your GPA, dont take this class. If youre looking for a guaranteed B or C and couldnt care less about learning, this is your class. I read these remarks and still took the class, dont be like me.

There is a reason she has 20+ pages of complaints. Don't fool yourself with thinking that you will pay attention in her class. The only thing she teaches you is how much she hates emails. Teacher has no interest in student success. I visited her three times during her office hours. The third time I had someone go find her because I refused to come back. She showed no interest in hearing what I had to say and how her students are failing. My 3.7 GPA just dropped below 3.5. Thanks a lot SPC for employing Alice Monroe!
ive used this website to help me find the right professor ive never used it to acually rate a professor but now i finally am Alice Monroe is the worst teacher i have ever had at SPC if you take her she will email you back rudely telling you not to email her she also gives wrong dates on asssingmets and expects you to figure out when things are due
i took the online course, she lost quizzes and i failed every single test, but the discussion board posts and current event summaries saved me with a "C"
This teacher has a complete lack of knowledge and passion for the subject. She will not bother to learn names and will not mind if you come for five minutes each day. Every thing is online (4 tests) no matter what. Why should she put in any more effort than required? Don't bother e-mailing her or asking for help... She has zero interest in students
All, I repeat ALL of her test are online and questions are directly from the book. She isnt there to help you at all but if you show up for roll, and do the test on time, there is no reason, again I repeat no reason to fail her class.

DO NOT TAKE UNDER ANY CONDITION!!! Teaches directly from slide show, which often has wrong information on it. Test questions and answers are often messed up. Does not respond to issues and is very rude when asked questions. She messed up my grade and it took four months to get it fixed, and she only did it once I got the Dean involved.
I took her class online. She never responded to emails, the material on the test was not all on the notes, and she is rude. I went into her office halfway through her class to discuss my grade, and she was chewing her chips with her mouth open and didn't give me any feedback, advice or help. She doesn't care if you're successful or not.
