BEST CLASS EVER with BEST TEACHER EVER. TAKE IT. She is supremely entertaining and keeps the class awake and alive. Two papers, a midterm, a final.
Alice is an awesome teacher, she's interesting and enthusiastic. I was not interested in history before taking this class but now I'm beginning to enjoy it. Tests/papers aren't hard as long as you study. Great teacher!
I have hated history all my life, but now i love it. Great teacher. ALMOST NO HOMEWORK. GET OUT EARLY. Makes material very interesting. One of the best teachers i have ever had.
Here here. She is a great teacher and pretty funny. I love the way she brings out crazy, odd and erriely intresting facts from the bio's of the peps we go over. She's vibrent and love's a class of peps that at least atemt to answer or ask ?'s.

She is a fantastic teacher and I would highly recommend her. She makes class truly interesting, for one she has been like everywhere!!!
This was an easy class. The teacher was clear in what she wanted, gave great study guides for the tests, and even extended the due date for extra credit! She is pretty heavy on paper writing, but I didn't think that my papers were very good and I got full credit everytime. This class was great for the non-history major. It was EASY.
alice roberti is a great teacher. she is nice to everyone. she enjoys chatting with students about random things, and she's NOT intimidating to aproach. she made u.s. history fun. i highly recommend her!
Chill teacher. Can be a little annoying at times and straight up weird - but its an easy grade and she tries hard to have you take something away from the class. I still look to see if i can take more classes of hers.
I hated history before taking her class. She is not necessarily easy, but she makes it easy for one to actually understand history. I definately love this teadcher; she is the best!
Alice is one of those amazing teachers that can make you remember why you decided to go to college in the first place. She is a fantastic teacher who really cares about her subject and her students. She is one of the very best that SRJC has to offer. I would highly recommend any of her classes.
Alice is really interesting, great class, I really liked History after taking this class. Her lectures are very entertaining, tests are fair.
The last person to comment was obviously Failing, and in Roberti's class failing requires an effort. She was extremely clear with her study guides in asking what she wanted you know for the midterm and final. Her essay assignments were vague but getting full credit was easy, all you had to do was try. Notes were good. Highly recommended
She is a good teacher. Not to hard, tells you what to study on the tests. Gets of tangents occasionally but the conversations are totally fun! Over all good class expected a C for my effort and got a B. Theres like 2 essays I don't remember but they're not hard. We watched 3 movies and shes very passionate about her job. I definitly recomend her.
Awsome! Such a fun class. She's a total kick in the pants! I honestly never thought I could stay awake through a lecture on Early American History. Just make sure you study the little details in her lecture notes for each study guide topic. They do pop up on tests. And don't hesitate to e-mail her for help. She'll give you insider tips!
I love her!!! best teacher ever!! totally funny and intersting to listen too!! made history a blast!
I love her she is one of the best teachers at the jc take every history class with her you can find
She's a great teacher! You only take two tests including the final. They are both easy as long as you take notes. you get to watch some fun movies too.
She is the best! I would take all your history classes with her. She tells you everything you need to know for tests and papers. As long as you show up, take notes, and study you will do good.
Really good teacher!! Majes you take ALOT of notes, but really knows her history and makes the class fun and exciting. U can get an A if you come to class and take notes. Allows 1 page of notes front and back for test, It's a really fun class and she has lived practically everywhere in the world, so she has alot of first hand knowledge
She is a great teacher, I highly recommend her as a history professor. She makes history interesting for everyone! She is also very easy on the eyes which makes class go easier as well!
The best professor at the JC bar none! The people commenting below clearly got bad grades! She is a great teacher...she wants everyone to do well and will help you pass. This is my 3rd class with her and I have enjoyed every class I have taken with her both sections of Women's history and World History. Take her if you want to learn!!!!
Alice is a wonderful teacher Cares a great deal about her students and is clearly passionate about teachingSo down to earth and always willing to help you outTreats her students as if they were her kidsHer lectures were always entertaining and she has a good sense of humor.I highly recommend taking her history classes, you will not be dissapointed!
I am a history major because of her! She is so energetic and amazing. She has traveled all over the world and brings all her experience to the material so that it just comes alive. She is so willing to help her students and I want to be like her:) You could probably get away without using the textbook but I found mine online for about $3.
I know a lot of people love this professor, and I can see why, but I didn't like her style. She made a lot of generalizations and the assignments were silly and not very challenging. It seems like all the negative reviews got deleted here which is a little strange. Overall an OK professor, but not deserving of the stellar reviews. Got an easy A.
Best teacher ever!
There is a ton of note taking. No notes for the 2 tests. Very friendly and helpful. Great personality and funny.
AWSOME teacher!!! I didn't enjoy history very much but she made it fun and easy...you just have to complete the 3 assignments and that's it...
she should get a nobel prize for awesome
My very first semester I had to take American History, which I already find absolutely boring, I randomly selected Alice and have chosen all her classes since. She really makes dry and boring history come to life. Her Papers require research, just give your very best and you'll pass with no problem.
Best most passionate history teacher i have ever had. She made the dullest lectures fun and interesting. Always gave us test material to review and always gave excellent notes. Overall the best teacher out there for American history
Most straight forward class ever. Alice is super interesting, knowledgeable, and funny. Be prepared for MASSIVE in class note taking. I took 53 pages after the midterm. 3 Easy essays. Just show up, take notes, and pay attention. Don't buy the book. everything is from the notes. Just use the copy in the library for the chapter analysis essay.
BEST TEACHER EVER. The end
omg i loved prof roberti! she is so funny and lively. she loves life and its contagious. i miss having her! she played funny clips in class from monty python, and clips from other movies. she is one of the most CLEAR profs i've had. i think she let us have a page of notes for our final. she wants you to succeed. LOVED her & u prob will too :)
She's AMAZING. Lively, fun, excellent notes and projects. Textbook rarely needed except for groupwork in class on occasion. I learned a ton, and loved her so much that I'm taking another class of hers this fall. Class is definitely not boring. Exams are a combo of truefalse/multiple choice and an essay; only two exams. Three fun projects.
She is fun, vibrant, and really knowledgeable about her topic. Her assignments are fun, and apply to what interests you. I will definitely be taking more of her classes. She makes history so much fun!
Such an EASY class! I never even opened the book except for the chapter review essay. There are 3 essays, a midterm and final. She gives you some extra credit points based on attendance. She is very clear on what she wants on essays and what will be on the midterm/final
has great passion for history. if you are failing you can do extra credit but the film reviews she wants to be three pages and with a works cited... extremly hard to do if you have to do multiple and have a heavy load already at the JC. She is a great teacher and I plan to take more of her classes but make them my only class!
Alice's history class is very linear and repetitive. She's super energetic which is a good thing, but her presentation of the subject could be... bland. Also, the class isn't easy.
I absolutely love Alice! She is super funny and I actually enjoy going to class. It's a lot of notes but she allows you to use a computer to take them. Midterm/final are easy if you study the study guide she makes for you. 3 essays, all are easy but the chapter review because it was a little confusing. Barely use the book, but it is an easy read.
This is one of the only classes that I have ever been excited about going to. She makes the class fun and exciting. I had some days where I couldn't attend class because of work and she made time for me to get the notes from her and ask questions. I have signed up for another class for next semester and plan on taking all of her other classes.
Alice is a really nice lady, but not that great of a teacher. She lectures all class while expecting you to take lots of notes, and she goes off topic a lot. Doesn't use a textbook so studying is a little difficult. Midterm and finals are hard. Only one or two homework assignments. Offers extra credit. Not too bad of a class.
Alice, is a wonderful, funny, great teacher. She really cares & wants you to pass her class. She allows extra credit & gives you basically free points if you dont miss her class more than 3. if your not a histpry fan then tests are very hard but she gives you study guide in advance, so take advantage and study! RECOMMEND HER 100% =]
Alice is a wonderful teacher. Very knowledgable about her subjects, you'll learn a lot of cool things in this class. It will take some work on your part, she won't just hand you an A, but it's one of the most rewarding classes I've taken. Definitely recommend her for any history majors but even for people just doing GE.
Alice is a really cool teacher, She talks alot but its all interesting. The only issue is how cramped ur hand gets from writting so much, i wish we could pay for photo copies of the millions of pages we have to write! Easy if u pay attention in class (she tells u everything that will be on the midterm/final)Only a few papers, no homework.love her!
Ms Roberti is AWESOME, she is extremely intelligent and helpful. I love going to her class because she is the first teacher to make history interesting. I highly recommend taking her, she is one of the best at the SRJC. :)
AWESOME!! best most funniest teacher ever!! hated history but after taking her class i am so into it. She made history worth listening and learning about it. She is THE GREATEST person ever. No homework at all, and gives study guides for final and midterm with exact things on the final and midterm. lots of writing though but time flies!!
Alice Roberti is by far the best history teacher I have EVER had. If you do the work you will get a great grade. She is very easy to talk with always answers questions and makes learning fun!!!!
You will not find a better History Teacher. Or teacher period!!! Even students who hate history will at the very least have a teacher who will have their attention. Not easy, but history never is. Make Alice your first choice. You won't be sorry.
I initially had mixed feelings about Alice as she often went off topic but in the end, I found her to be a highly effective teacher and thoroughly enjoyed her course.
Alice is a very smart, funny and engaging teacher. She tells you exactly what she expects on the mid term and final along with the two papers. I was thoroughly entertained. My only gripe was the amount of notes and they way they were presented in class. Overall great teacher!
Alice is the GREATEST TEACHER EVER!! She is VERY helpful, funny, easy to listen to, very organized, puts the notes to her lectures on the board, gives out midterm and final outlines way ahead of time, very helpful & responsive to emails. gives 15 pts just for attending class. She is the BES! Became history major because of her:)
Alice is by far the best teacher I have taken at the JC. I have taken her for 3 classes now and she never fails to inspire me. If you are thinking about taking her do it, you won't regret it. She like having a connection with her students and thats what makes her so great. I will definitely be taking her for another class in the future.
Alice is the best History teacher at the JC. She gives you a clear idea of what her expectations are. Alice is very organized and her lectures are very interesting. I would take her again.
She's not a hard teacher just really opinionated , overly feminist and thinks she knows all a lot of people like her but she posses me off she's not as smart as she lets on and if you don't agree with her thoughts good luck
Whether you're a history major or just getting gen. ed. done, Alice is great. Very enthusiastic, clear with expectations, fair, and not too hard of a grader. No homework, 3 essays (pretty easy as long as you do good research), 1 midterm, 1 final. Expect LOTS of notes. You get notes on tests! I'll be taking another class of hers Fall 2015 (Hist 4.1)
A lot of writing during her lectures and she is not very helpful. Talks most of the lecture and will tell you one thing, then something else later. Not the worst class I've taken, but did not have a good experience with her as a teacher.
I didn't enjoy her Western Civ class as much as the world history she taught last semester, even though it's her specialty. Class structure is the exact same as other classes of hers: 3 papers, midterm, final. Overall not too difficult, but if you're not good at writing lengthy papers, prepare to get graded down harshly even if your info is there.
Shes outgoing so class is never boring. No homework. Our class had 2 essay midterms,3 inclass group assignments(she picks the groups),1 research paper,& a presentation coming up after our finals. Pretty easy but the 1.5 hour long class is NOT enough time to write the essays(so much info). That is my only issue with this class, but she is cool.
Alice is by far one of the best teachers I have ever had, she is so much fun to have and I loved learning from her. Shes overall a huge talker so there is never a quiet moment and there are a lot of notes to take down off her slides, so it is somewhat hard to listen and write at the same time but overall, love her and her class .
Great teacher. Pretty fun class.
She's a great teacher. Knows her stuff pretty well. The whole class is mostly just taking notes and some other times watching a movie or doing group activities. You have essays to write for tests and although they are pretty easy, theres not a lot of time so you have to rush. Final was pretty easy, she's a fair grader and you'll pass if you show up
One of the greatest professors Ive ever had each story she told had me at the edge of my seat waiting for what she had to say next she has a knack for telling stories and describing her views/thoughts behind what she is teaching which holds great value as well as her own personal experiences to give u a better understanding of what is being taught!
LOVE Alice. The sweetest, best teacher you could ask for. Although she lectures and gives notes the whole class, you're never bored because her personality and way of speaking keeps you awake and interested. This class wasn't too difficult, and I highly recommend it especially if you can take Alice. Wish I could have her for all of my classes!
Alice is an absolute doll, she's funny and in tune with her students throughout the class. The class is lecture heavy, but she lectures like it's a story, so the flow is easy. Her exams are difficult, but she allows cheat sheets and her papers are easy if you follow her directions. I'm excited to take another class by her.
Excellent History teacher! Exams are tough but she will prepair you to pass her class.. Attend all her classes and keep up with the work and you can get a good grade in her class
You don't understand how much I loved her! I was in her history 17.1 class and she's such a good teacher as well as very funny and understanding.
There's a lot of things I liked and didn't like about her, she is somewhat disorganized and never really gave a clear guideline of our 3 assignments in the class. However, she gave out great study guides for the two tests that she allowed you to use during the test. This is a very basic college class. She is very lecture heavy which can get boring.
As long as you take pictures of the notes and write down everything on the study guide on to your cheat sheet you will pass. The class is graded on few things which can be nerve wracking but she isn't a tough grader as long as you follow the guidelines. Make sure to write down the guidelines when she says them otherwise the assignments are unclear
Love love love Alice. She's an excellent professor-- very caring, wants you to succeed, will always help you if you ask. Come to class & take good notes and you'll pass.
Amazing professor, and so knowledgable. She made history fun. She is very personable and is also a very fair grader. Her tests are exactly what she says they will be on,no secrets. She is always punctual. Her assignments are straightforward and she offers extra credit. Extra 15 pts if you don't miss more than 3 classes, and optional film critiques.
Alice is a fantastic teacher with so much knowledge. She's so funny, truly enjoys teaching, and cares for her students! Homework is minimum with only three 1500 word essays. That being said, the tests (midterm and final) make up a large part of your grade so make sure to leave time to study. Great class would recommend
Run. Don't walk away from this class. She talks at you for the two hour duration of each class, offers a 4 hour midterm, and develops and threatens the class with excruciating questions that require voluminous answers. It was pure torture. I recommend that she update her practice.
She's nice, but I dislike the way her class is structured. 3 assignments (+2 exams) determine your grade in the class, nothing else. Some people may like having so little hw but her 2000 word essays are only worth 50 points, which I found unfair. I also found her to be quite biased politically and she had a bad habit of going off on tangents.
Alice is really nice, and is always reminding us that she is here to help. The only thing that was difficult about her and this class was that she grades 6 assignments throughout a whole semester, so you really have to work hard on those. Overall, I learned a lot, and really enjoyed it!
I love taking Alices classes. The class is fascinating. Make sure to take all the notes - Easy just copy whats on the projector, and start your study guide early. If you use the study guide and complete your note sheet youre well prepared. The group project definitely requires work and organization. Take the class!!!
She is very kind and has great stories very few assignments so make sure you do them! Overall easy class take notes in class.
Very passionate, nice, understanding teacher. Expect to listen to a lot of lectures and take A LOT of notes. Grade depends on 3 papers and 2 tests, but she doesn't grade very hard on the papers and you can use notes on the tests. You're supposed to read from the textbook for homework, but I didn't find it necessary as she gives notes anyways.
I love Alice! I've taken a class with her for the past 2 semesters and I plan on continuing to do so. She's caring, sweet, funny, and an all around great person. I would recommend taking any one of her classes, you'll love her. She only has the midterm and finals for 18.2 as well having to read one book but she gives no other homework. Easy A
Alice's course was the class I was so happy to attend, sadly had to be cut short because of the unfortunate pandemic. She genuinely loves every single one of her students. She is caring and is so passionate about educating others about history. PLEASE take her, no matter the class, she is absolutely amazing.
I will be honest, I saw she had a high rating, so I immediately applied for her class, maybe its just because its online but she is awful. She does everything through email so its hard to actually learn from her, no lectures, just tests and projects. Since there is no lecture, its not clear what she wants for exams, and no study guide.
Alice is one of the best professors I have had the pleasure of taking a class with. She is so passionate about the material she is presenting and you can tell she is very knowledgeable. You will know EXACTLY what is on the exam. She is easy to get along with and you will feel comfortable asking any questions you may have.
Was referred to her by a friend, thinking they wanted me to suffer. Graded by few things and no clear expectations on what she wanted for the assignments. Assignments all had to do about women, but I didn't sign up for a women's world history class. No lectures, just emailed questions and teach yourself from the book. Do NOT take this professor.
We had 5 Primary Documents, 4 tests and 1 paper. One guy was moaning that all the Primary Documents were on women. Professor Roberti explained that history books can leave out women & people of color so she wanted to add them in. She's tough but fair. She was always online when we were doing our timed assignments. Take her classes, you'll love her
She was nice, but didn't use canvas in the slightest. Graded based on things that had nothing to do with the assignment. Not a fan of her teaching style but was still nice in general.
She has VERY clear expectations and gave us lots of help. Lots of reading! Everything was through Canvas so it was easy to find. She was always available (even nights and weekends) to answer my questions.
Decently easy teacher. She has a specific way of grading, not always super clear but manageable. Mandatory attendance due to the 3hr window to complete weekly-ish assignments. She is sweet and available for questions. One big research essay, minimum 20 pages, but it's about 20 women, so 1 page per woman isn't bad. The essay is just time-consuming.
Do not take the online course unless you are okay with teaching yourself. No lectures are posted so it is up to you to do your own research outside of reading the book. The test questions are different from what is covered in the book. Uninspired to take another history class ever again.
I loved this class! professor roberti is great and is willing to work with you if you're having a hard time. It's important to stay up on the lectures and textbook readings, but if you do it's a great class!
Professor Roberti was very understanding and is there to help you! She was great.
Professor Roberti was great!
Do NOT take this class online. I'm sure in person she's great, but her online class has no lectures or teaching whatsoever and everything must be self-taught by reading a textbook. It's supposed to be a 4 days-a-week class, but, in practice, you must read all 7 days a week to keep up. Tests are easy as long as you know how to write an essay.
It is a neatly structured online class. You just had to read the textbook chapters and be online at a specific time. It felt like her assignments lacked clear grading criteria and I lost many points because of that, it was very simple points that if she would have stated on the assignment I would have no trouble doing. But overall an average class.
Alice is wonderful. I took her women's history class and loved it! I used both the textbook and the internet when doing assignments, which are timed papers every week/other week or so. It took a sec to get used to that, but it gets easier. No homework. Final and midterm are papers, pretty much all assignments are. Easy grader, though!
Professor Roberti's HIS171 class was structured well, though the grading could be unclear at times. The textbook was essential, and unstuckstudy proved helpful for exam prep. Overall, a solid course.
