To be honest about this teacher, she does act ****. I am a BLACK male and honestly she acts as if she doesn't like white people. If my phone goes off she doesn't say anything, but when a White girl popped her gum she almost got kicked out. This class is an easy "A" and if you fail then you need to drop out of college. NO TESTS! Pointless class

The worst teacher I have ever had! That includes elementary, middle and high school. She never has a clear path of what she wants to do. She has spent the past three weeks focusing on something in the class that is worth 2.5 points rather than teaching what the class is all about. I wouldn't recommend her to anybody at any time for any reason.

The WORST professor I've had. She takes points off, yet writes nothing on your paper. When I asked her why she couldn't give me a reason. Then when I would show her stuff she said I didn't have in my paper she would come up with new requirements so that she wouldn't have to admit she was wrong. I feel dumber for taking her class-waste of time & $$$

She suppose to be a diversity teacher but on the first day she made fun of someone for being canadian. She acts like her class is amazing but to be honest I did not learn one thing from her class. I would have killed myself after taking this class but Dr. Tait made me already dead on the inside from listening to her pointless lectures.

Dr. Tait is the worst professor I have ever had. She is not helpful in anyway. and constantly condradicts herself. It took her 2 months to grade a 1 page assignemnt, becuase of this we got nothing done. She claims to be diverse, but is only the opposite. Make sure you call her Dr. Tait or you will be ignored...can we say powertrip?

This class was the biggest waste of my time, I learned absoluley nothing, accept for how to keep my self occupied. Dr. Tait my class very frustrated, becuase she was constantly unclear as to what she wanted from us. You cannot argue with her, she is very closed minded and ignorant.

I don't know why on earth this lady is still teaching. This class is definitly a waste of time. Yeah take it if you want a easy easy A...but be careful because you'll go blind because you'll gouge your eyes out from bordem and frustration and annoyance.

I went to Dr. Taits office hours twice, both times she refused to look over my paper, or help me with anything! I thought thats what office hours were for, apparently they are just for her to figure out way to make her students like missreble.

This class honestly made me consider suicide. It is so boaring, I wanted to rip my eyes out. The sad part is, is that she could make it intresting. But Dr. Tait is a awful teacher. She should be banned from teaching any subject.

I am convinced Dr. Tait comes on here and writes all these good things. I don't know anyone in my class who thought she was good, helpful, clear or fair professor! She is absolutley terrible! Dr. Tait should be fired, she is worthless to the students at CMU.

I was excited to take this class, however Dr. Tait is very biased. Most of the time what she is saying does not make sense. The only good part about this class is that she cancels classes a lot.

She is extremely unorganized and has no sense of time management. However she cancels class all the time and you always get out 15 minutes early. Probably the worst professor on campus. It boggles my mind how CMU still employs her.

If you're looking for a cake walk UP class, and looking to not have to go to class at least half of the time, then this is the class for you. If you're looking to learn then don't take this class. NO exams, only a few papers, and weekly questions from the book. Easy easy easy class. She is rather rude, but if u deal with that its all good.

Don't get me wrong, decent Instructor, but the class was as useless as trying to reasearch the number zero and why it exist. I have had better luck understanding Algebra than I have Dr. Tait's Racial Diversity class.

The professor for this class was a joke. She just rambles on about absolutely nothing for classes at a time. I showed up to maybe 10 classes and got a passing grade. She puts everything online, and never has tests. You just have CDQ's once every 1 or 2 weeks which are a paragraph long and 2 papers that are ONE page DOUBLE spaced.

Teacher should spend less time trying to up her rating here & more time actually teaching. Don't buy the book; just go to the library & do your CDQ's. Didn't learn anything at all, just sat & listened to the same thing everyday. Class was canceled all the time. She doesn't respond to emails in a timely manner. If you need an easy class take it.

You do NOTHING basically the entire semester, every class (even in the last week of class) she talks about the stupid syllabus. class was canceled for a MONTH to meet with her about a ONE page reaction paper that's not even mandatory to go to. she grades ridiculous also. WASTE OF TIME. This is a made up course. Dont ask questions she'll never give a strait answer. You must agree w/her to get a good grade. Chooses favorites, cancels class for 5 weeks & you'll never know your grade she is unorganized. Main topic is the syllabus even the last week. She doesnt know how to use blkboard & blames any error on the student.

I have never had a more useless professor. I truly believe that she knows nothing about the material, considering she took 4 full 75 minute classes going over the syllabus. If you take this class, you must do all of the assignments according to her opinion to get full credit. I would strongly advise taking a different U.P.

She gives herself positive reviews on this site to inflate her score (and ego?). They offer a section of the same class with a different teacher now. Take that one instead.

Literally the most pointless class I have ever taken at CMU. I really can't call it a class however because I NEVER learned anything besides the syllabus, it took over half of the semester to go over... biggest waste of time. And don't bother with the book, she wrote it so of course she wants you to buy it, even though you use it all of 3 times.

Had her last spring, worst decision ever. She spends weeks going over the syllabus and "course relevancy," both which were terribly unclear. Terrible professor. Completely unreasonable. No idea how to teach. Totally clueless. Hardly any points in the course, so if something goes wrong and you have trouble submitting an assignment, you will drop at least 10% of your grade. Totally unreasonable, no make ups or slight extensions.

I do not understand why she is even a teacher. She talked about the syllabus for over a month. We learned NOTHING in this class.You will do assignments that she grades if you put your student number in the correct order before or after the date. Goes over the syllabus for at least a month, doesn't make any sense at all, basically just grades you on a few online assignments (CDQ's) that she strictly bases off format and grammar/punctuation. Actually attending her class is difficult to do, and listening to her speak in circles is even worse. Easy A and UP if you're taking it for that.

By far the worst prof. Iv'e had at central not because she's hard but because she does not understand students. She will mark you done for every little thing wrong even writing your name wrong. If you get hit by a bus and miss her class theres no excuse you will get marked down. Its a easy class but not worth the stress.

Everything you read on here is true. Goes over syllabus for 5 days, incredibly rude to students, incompetent, and if you argue with her you lose points. Only one day during the entire semester we actually did something relevant to the course in class. It was mostly her showing us how to format an assignment or her not being able to work a computer.

Alice Tait, JRN 380, this class is HORRID!! DO NOT TAKE. She makes no sense and over explains things to the point of where it is confusing. You have to do Chapter Question Discussions and she never lets you know when they are due. I, along with others, are not satisfied with her or the class. We have learned absolutely nothing.

I am not one to talk bad about my professors if they annoy me; Tait, however, is the rudest, most ill-prepared, most ridicules professors I have had. Do not take this class. She never explains anything, I had to go to her assistant to figure out what I was even supposed to do for each assignment. I got an A, but hated every second of this class.

The worst teacher I've ever had and I had teachers in high school only brought in to be coaches. Not clear on assignments or due dates and when you ask for clarification she just points to what she has written down, which didn't make sense in the first place, one project is one you recycle from an earlier project. I learned nothing.

This is a Tuesday/Thursday class and in two days your project will have completely changed. WORST professor on CMU campus. Don't expect to get anything done early because you never know what she's looking for. Bright side: you'll be able to put a heading on a paper correctly and that's it. Avoid her at all cost!

This is the WORST class I have ever taken during my time at CMU. I was excited for this class at the start but we were still discussing the syllabus at week 5. She is rude, disorganized and offensive. She makes everything in the class about herself and how badly the world treats her because she is a member of a minority. Please never take this.

I was excited to take this course and debate and discuss with my fellow peers and professor and she managed to make this the WORST class I've ever taken. I wish I had more than 350 characters because I am very frustrated with this class. We only have a few things in the grade book right now, less than 20 points. We are also on week 12 of the semester. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. Originally, I was really excited to take this class, but I have barely learned anything at all.

I couldn't even begin to explain my level of frustration with Professor Tait. She is the rudest, most unhelpful and unorganized professor I have ever had. I cannot stress enough how disappointed you will be if you take this class with this professor.

From the course description, this class seemed interesting. But when I actually went, we spent three weeks on the syllabus (which she has changed since), and then another four discussing videos shown at an out of class event. Dr. Tait taught nothing. After that, we did group projects, which most of us failed. But hey, she's comfortable with that!

She spent three weeks going over the syllabus, and then we didn't do a single thing listed in it. The course is supposed to cover ALANA (African, Latino, Asian, & Native Americans) and women as minorities in media. We talked about the LGBTQ+ community. Still a relevant subject, but not for a whole course, especially if she doesn't teach it at all.

My whole semester consisted of nothing being taught and not having any student involvement. That also leads into her being the more disrespectful person I have ever met. Dr. Tait is the worst professor I have had while at CMU. You learn nothing in her class, she never answers questions, and gets offended when you ask them. She doesn't communicate or explain things but has high expectations. You go over the syllabus/her "awards" for three weeks. I have no clue how she is a professor.

Easier the WORST professor I have had in my many years here at CMU. Her class consisted of 3 presentations and 2 DB posts all semester. She is incredibly vague on what she expects, and grades incredibly hard with no feedback. She failed nearly every person/groups on the presentations, leaving everyone with poor grades. I do not know where to start. Dr. Tait is the most disrepectful, rude, unfair, and racist teacher I have ever had. She is unclear about all expectations. She clearly teaches students of African-American descent favorably. She gave my group an F on our presentation, yet we were undoubtedly one of the best presentations. Do not consider taking her.

We spent the first two weeks talking about the syllabus. Then we spent the next two weeks learning words that had nothing to do with the class. He instructions changed all the time. If you do the work, COME TO CLASS, do the extra credit, and talk in class you'll get an A easily. But she is super scattered and hard to follow. Frustrating but easy!

When I took this class, JRN 380 - Racial and Cultural Divide: Mass Media's Role, I was really excited because this is a super interesting and important topic. However, a few weeks into class I was getting extremely disappointed. I have learned absolutely nothing, and neither did anyone else. It got so bad the university had to step in.

I feel bad for current and future students of this professor. I had her a year ago and I still cannot believe she is allowed to continue teaching. Avoid her at all costs and hopefully she will have no students to disrespect.

I don't know what's worse, the fact that her whole wardrobe is from the 80s or that she lectures like a turtle. She will talk so slow and say "um" a lot. Our whole class, literally had a discussion about how terrible she is today. She will also give very rude "constructive" feedback and ask your peers to do the same. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS!

Have not learned anything in this class. Extremely unorganized. Talks and talks about random things all Class. Shes really nice but she should not be a professor. She created this class, but everything she talks about is about things we all already know.

One of the easier courses I have taken but easily the most unorganized professor I ever had, which is actually worse than having a hard class that IS organized. Also, gets defensive if you disagree with anything, which is odd for a course that is very much opinion based. I had a 93.5 in her course she refused to round up. Kept me off Dean's list.

She drags out the class as long as possible without gaining any information about the subject. The subject of racism and culture in the media has a chance to be interesting, but she completely ruins it by not teaching you anything. Quizzes are online and open note making it an easy A. Overall just don't take this class unless you really have to.

This class was required for my major. I thoroughly enjoy studying race relations and gender issues. I was so excited for this course that I reached out to her before the class began to do extra work for her. She treated me disrespectfully to the point I left her office crying more than once. She is disorganized and doesn't relate to students.

Tait is a super nice lady, she's very kind hearted and sweet to her students. Although, she doesn't do a good job (whatsoever) of explaining assignments to students. This class has no Tests, quizzes, exams, projects, or even a textbook required. Just one paper every two weeks. The class is easy, but she makes it very difficult.

I spent most of the class confused as to when something was due or what to go on. She also assigned out of classwork and did not allow for makeup points even though most of the class had other commitments(Class) at the time

Alice Tait was very nice but she was not a good teacher. There were multiple times she showed us the same presentation and set of notes and the only time we learned anything was when she brought in guest speakers. If we asked any questions, she wouldn't let us finish talking before interrupting us and flat-out telling us we were wrong.

dr. alice tait is truly one of the worst professors i have ever had. she constantly changes her expectations and ridicules students in front of the class who have different opinions than her. she made three students in my class cry while in class due to her degrading words. she has no technology experience and spent most of class trying to present.

She never finished grading before the deadline, so I had to calculate my own grade. Half of the classes were spent with very easy-to-solve technical issues she somehow didn't know how to fix. She also never did anything about a student that was openly racist in class, in fact she defended him multiple times when confronted. Avoid if possible.
