She doesnt speak fluent english to start things off. She assumes if you dont ask question you know the material and she doesnt teach all the material. She reads off power points for statistics... I dont even know how you do that. She just fails at getting her lessons across in a educational manner. I see the smartest kids get so frusterated w her
AVOID HER AT ALL COSTS. Like the previous comment says, she cannot teach. Literally we will sit in class the whole time trying to answer one question because she simply doesn't even know how to do the problem herself. DO NOT TAKE
I'm in her class right now and she is probably the worst professor I've ever had. She goes over everything very fast provides no examples. All she does is read from power point slides that she won't let you have. If you ask a question in class all she will say is read the textbook and gets upset if she has to explain something twice.
This professor is by far the worst professor at Towson. I'm not one to complain about teachers and I still did pass the class, however I HIGHLY encourage anyone who may have this teacher to get out immediately. Totally incapable of teaching and does not even know the material herself. Save yourself from a very stressful semester and DO NOT TAKE HER
With Professor Zhang, you are going to have to be patient with her. Her heart is in the right place, but sometimes she doesn't explain things well. She will take points off for dumb reasons, so be prepared.
She is very confusing. Too many assignments due each week.
Not as bad as everyone makes her out to be. I suggest not taking EBTM250 with her so you can learn the basics, but for EBTM251 she is fine. The people that are complaining are the ones that just wanted her to give us the answers to case studies which can just be found how to solve on youtube or google. You just have to work outside of this class.
DO NOT TAKE Her class, she does not read or write english well, she makes you write your phone number in your email so she can call you because she can't understand what you emailed to her. Her final was a total disaster she was yelling at students for asking questions. In normal class periods she would get students to teach instead of her teaching
Easily the worst teacher ever. She does not teach a single thing the whole course so it was pointless to go to class. She was horrible at responding to emails. A girl in my class emailed her and she responded "I'm too tired, please call the website for help." Don't take her it is just frustrating
The class is absolutely awful to begin with and she does not make anything easier. Terrible professor, i've emailed her for help 6 times now and every time she replies "Please contact Pearsons", which is the system you use. DO NOT TAKE!!!!
Worst teacher ever! Does not teach, just facilitates. If possible take anoter teacher, you will regret taking her.
I had Alice Zhang for EBTM 250 and she was just the worst. The class is hard enough but she outright told us she would not help us. For any grading issues she would tell us to contact Pearson but they said she had to fix it. She almost never explained any concept or clearly answered a question. She seemed like a nice person but a terrible teacher!
never had her and I know shes bad.
She was the worst professor I have ever taken. She stated, "I am not here to teach but to facilitate." I had to teach myself everything about Microsoft Excel. The final was not made by the university, so it was pretty easy, but you have to teach yourself everything. Homework was probably 9-10 hours per week Avoid at all costs
Honestly, this class is not about the professor. 95% of work is done on your own, so although she wasn't the most helpful, she didn't affect the outcome of the course or whether you pass the exam or not. Passing the exam is entirely reliant on how much you practice and how much time you put into studying. Don't sweat the professor too much.
STAY AWAY!!!! She does not help you. She barely can read or write English. She will ask questions, a student will answer correctly, and she will say "NO" because she can't understand you. then she goes and answers the question herself which is exactly what you said. she argues with students. she is literally crazy. grades very difficultly & petty.
The class is pretty tough. Based on 5 Excel grader simulations and a few group case study analysis questions. She's very particular about how things should be done. I'd advise coming to class every day. You just have to keep practicing the material in order to understand it. There's no midterm, but the final is just like the grader simulations.
I won't lie she is absolutely horrible as a professor she's hard to understand and just overall not helpful, but luckily for EBTM 250 it's teaching yourself but I would HIGHLY recommend spending the $40 on the Gemetrix program cause those are the types of questions actually on the exam. The pearson stuff will not help you at all
Zhang is a nice lady, but so disorganized. She has a thick accent and sometimes can't understand what you are trying to explain. The worst part came to the final, she only gave us 45 minutes out of the required 2 hours and the study guide had nothing to do with the test. Get ready to spend HOURS a week on homework. TAKE SOMEONE ELSE
I took her for EBTM 251, your grader projects takes hours and then your final will be one of the graders and she gives you 40 minutes. No one in my class finished the final. Attendance is required and you have group projects and presentations to give.
Awful. She teaches a class about excel but doesn't know how to use it herself. Can't understand her when she is talking
Be ready to work hard doing the individual assigments and group projects. I thought she was very helpful with her PowerPoints and gave us pointers with videos. The final was based on ind. assignments which she recommended doing them multiple times so we became fluent in excel. You cant miss class! Shes very open to question and accesible in perso
Prof. Zhang is one of the best I ever had. He has excellent Excel skills and can show the smartest way to tackle a problem. I highly recommend her.
I thought she was excellent in teaching us all the concepts and was always there for answering any question. I thought the final was very fair and she prepared us for it. I just wish we had extra test in there. I liked her teaching style better than anothers who I had to drop.
An excellent professor, a real gem!!!
I took both EBTM 250 and 251 with Prof. Zhang and I enjoyed both of her classes like many of the EBTM 251 students who chose to go with her after taking EBTM 250. She teaches the hard skills needed for the certification exam in 250 and smarter techniques in 251. I cant say enough how much I learned from this wonderful professor!
She's decent, makes the class harder than necessary at times so you may need to look at your homework and use the hints that are given. Attendance is mandatory unless she says so and she has good memory on who is and who is not there so she'll hound you if you skip. For exams, make sure you study, know the concepts and formulas.
One of the best! She cares about the students!
A very popular professor. I really like her,
I took EBTM 250 and 251 with her and I had very positive experience in both. She was very organized and offered specific instruction on how to do the assignments. Attending her classes made it a lot easier to do the assignments. You can get a good grade if you are willing to study. Highly recommended!
My favorite Professor - Thumb up!
I learnt so much excel and Power Point skills in Professor Zhang's class. We had a lot of fun in the class.
She gives you a lot of work for a 1 credit course, if you slack off, you won't pass
Professor Zhang has good intentions. Very nice lady but not the best professor you could take for this class. EXTREMELY picky when grading group projects and group questions. If you do well on the case projects, you'll do fine on the final since it is just like one of the cases. Study hard and you'll be just fine.
If you want to a class where the teacher writes her own reviews on this site then this is the class for you. Terrible teacher would avoid at all costs
Nice lady and means well but explains things poorly and moves through the class very fast. Avoid if possible but if not I recommend getting a tutor.
She is a wonderful professor. Her flow was manageable. Some homework questions can be difficult, but she always gives you tips if you ask.
She is very pleasant and always ready to help. Attending her class helps me a lot.
I've taken EBTM250, EBTM251, and EBTM365 with her this past semester. She does give a lot of work in class and out, but her tests are exactly what she teaches. Her grading criteria is very clear and if you don't understand any assignment, go to her office hours or set up an appointment. She wants you to succeed and by working hard, you will.
She is the best EBTM 250 Professor. She makes the students fully prepared for the exam. All of her students taking Microsoft Office Specialist Certification Test passed and became certified, and she is the only professor with such highest achievement.
Very kind, awesome professor. I took a couple of courses with her and happy.
The course can be easy if you attend all classes and follow her step by step instruction. Zhang teaches very useful skills and gives tips for difficult parts of the assignments.
Great Professor. I enjoy sitting in her class.
I take this course with Professor Zhang because she was highly recommended by her previous students. She is warm, caring and inspirational. She made the difficult subjects easy to understand. You will feel the homework much easier to do if you attend and pay attention in the class.
I felt happy to be her 250/251 students. I am now taking 365 with her. I like her course setup and her teaching skills. She gives tips to grasp difficult stuff. Attending classes matters.
I often heard students say Zhang is the best professor of 250/251 and I totally agree.
Take professor William Cook, he throughly explains everything for ebtm 250/251. These ratings aren't credible since Alice Zhang writes them herself.
She really cares about students but she teaches mind-numbingly slow.. if you like slow and boring than this is for you
Professor Zhang is a smart, but hard to understand. You have one group project and 5 graders for this course. The graders are harder than EBTM 250, but there aren't as many. She is tough on the group project, but just follow the template. Class is boring, but so is the material. She tries to be funny and doesn't like you on your phone so be sneaky.
She is so nice and always encourage the students to learn.
One of my favorite. The course materials are difficult but manageable if you pay attention in class and follow her advice to prepare for the exam.
EBTM 250 is a class that you must work for a pass.. You must complete ALL homework assignments and pass the final exam to get the credit.. Expect 3-4 lengthy homework assignments a week. Almost all EBTM 250 classes regardless of professor have to do the same stuff, but Zhang isn't that helpful and is hard to understand.
I highly encourage everyone to read all of the reviews since only 10/50 seem real. I found myself struggling in this class and wondered why I was having such a hard time considering people wrote such great things about her class.
She is a nice woman overall, but this class is extremely difficult. To make matters worse, she doesn't really know the material that well. A lot of times we're all in collective confusion trying to work out homework problems, the exams are extremely difficult as well so just be prepared to work VERY hard to get a passing grade
this is basically a self taught class. lectures are pointless, way too much homework, but it ends up helping you on the final test. she makes you do some group powerpoint and takes off point for the stupidest stuff, so you'll probs get a C on that. she dosent make sense but it dosent matter because you could pass this class without the professor
I had her for 251 and I loved her however I am currently taking her for 350, and although this is her first time teaching this course she expects you to be some excel genius. She cuts you know slack and has a hard time comprehending that you dont understand. She will repeat stuff and try to help but this class is not as hard as shes making it.
Professor Zhang tries her best to teach the course but she tends to ramble a lot and is not clear at all from what she wants her students to turn in. She also does a terrible job of building from her students knowledge from the previous EBTM 250 class. Personally I would take any other professor in the department over her.
She is not very clear in what she expects from you. She posts announcements and rambles on rather than being concise and to the point. However, this class was pretty easy. There are unlimited attempts for homework and MyLab tells you the answers after the first attempt. She hyped up the MOS Exam to be super challenging but it was easy (got 98%).
She is very hard to communicate with. I would recommend taking any other professor for 251. If you run into any problems she will just make them more complicated
She was tough but she was good ! Shes so nice and she will go out of her way to make sure you understand ! You just have to ask !
This is without a doubt the worst professor in the EBTM department. She will make everything more nuanced and complex than what it needs to be.
Terrible, she doesn't explain anything just tells you to watch the videos again and doesn't answer questions.
CONS: Like all other reviews, she rambles and doesn't get to the point. PROS: She responds good feedback to those who spoke up. A lot of classes are quiet in Towson so she is motivated to answer questions. OVERALL: EBTM350 is the same as EBTM250; It's annoying when students ask simple questions that we should have learned beforehand.
She is really difficult to understand and being online did not help. She did not teach us anything in class. She doesnt know how to teach online and whenever I asked questions she got angry that I didnt understand. AVOID at all costs.
she literally doesn't teach anything. Every single class was just her going over when things were due. I don't know if she's just horrible because of covid, but please, DO NOT TAKE HER
While this course is difficult no matter who you take, Zhang seems to go out of her way to make it just a bit more challenging for no particular reason, and due to her broken english, I cannot tell if she is patronizing on purpose for her own enjoyment, or is simply unaware as to how negative she comes off.
Students say they don't learn anything in this class, I agree from their perspective. Her class felt like an passive aggressive parent between the dumb kid and the golden kid. The class was easy for half the class who remembered EBTM250 & 251. The other half obviously struggled and asked many dumb questions. She is very generous but unequivocal.
avoid at all costs. worst professor I have taken. Is rude and does not really care about students. Got a b+ because I worked hard on my own. She really shouldn't be allowed to teach. Painful semester
Considering other reviews, I see what other students were talking about. However, Prof. Zhang was helpful when I needed help. The downside to this class is that you pretty much have to teach yourself. What I didn't like was that this class was only 1 credit. I think this should be combined with 251 and made into a 3 credit but idk. Avoid if you can
If you have experience with Microsoft Excel, you will pass this class. The work is easy and the exam is easy. The meetings are a waste of time as all you do is hear what is due the coming week, which we can read in the syllabus. Make sure you have a good, reliable computer to take your exam on because getting into it is a mess.
Don't know why she has a low rating because she's not bad. She doesn't really teach but honestly, you can't really be taught this from a teacher. In this class, you teach yourself by watching videos. I passed the first time and you get another attempt. She also has the test very early compared to other professors which is GREAT!
She is a very sweet nice professor I've had her for ebtm 250 and ebtm 251 she really tries her best to help you and even help you outside of class she is always available and glad to help but of course, you do also have to put in the work to pass she gives out a lot of practice for you to prepare also, shes very understanding
By far one of the worst professors Ive ever had. A lot of the material is self-taught; but its bad enough that she rushes through the material and doesnt want to answer other students questions. Spends about 1.5 hours beginning of every class talking about the syllabus. Instructions to group project were confusing and all over the place. Avoid
She is a standard teacher. She is somewhat robotic with her material delivery. Be aware that 250 and 251 are graded completely different from each other. Her deadlines are very strict with no leniency. Ex: Internet connection troubles resulted in an assignment submitting about 10 minutes late resulting in me receiving a zero.
Do not take this professor. She is not a good teacher. She can be very condescending. I just keep my head down and get the work done but she doesn't teach well if at all. Stay far away pick anyone else for 350.
Alice Zhang is literally the worst professor I have ever had. I wish I could rate her a zero. She cannot teach and she cannot answer simple questions. She will answer with either a very unclear statement or a link to a video. You will need to teach yourself everything. Most things covered in class (poorly) will not be on the homework assignments.
Worst professor in the history of Towson University. Grades hard for absolutely no reason, rude and not understanding at all. I have had bad professors that I have been able to work with before but she is absolutely horrible. I advise you to look for another professor. Even if she is the last option, just take it next semester with another prof.
Honestly I am not sure what a lot of the negative comments are on about but this class is tedious and if you skip, good luck. She helps when you ask and is not as mean. All the information is there but it really forces you to think. That being said, sometimes she likes to talk and goodness the exams are heavily influential on the grade.. 30% x 2.
I took 250 and 251 with Zhang and enjoyed both of her classes. She teaches essential stuff in class and provides helpful videos for you to study by yourself. You can get a good grade if you pay attention in class and follow the instructions.
I took 250 and 251 with Zhang and enjoyed both of her classes.
Alice Zhang is the worst teacher I have ever met. I would rate her far below a 1 if it was possible. She is incapable of explaining the littlest detail or clearly answering a question. Being in class is almost pointless except that you have to complete exercises in class to be turned in. Be ready to teach yourself everything you need to know.
STAY AWAY IF TAKING ONLINE, she doesn't respond to emails, can barely understand her when she speaks, and is very unclear in her directions. Take another professor.
Good prof. Took the EBTM250 with her. This class is about 80% learning from videos prep on LinkedIn and 20% from zoom class with her. She does not give clear explanations on how to proceed on the day of the exam. you get 2attempts for it. This class and the exam are easy if you watch the videos and do the work regardless of the professor.
Won't answer questions in class, refers to the syllabus instead. Spends time going over easy concepts in class but leaves the difficult things for you to learn doing the homework. Says attendance is mandatory but she didn't show up to half the classes.
She is a very nice person and really wants her students to pass. She does do group work, but not any group projects. She gives out extra credit if you participate and answer tricky questions in class. Her lessons helped me understand more than I did in EBTM 250. She's pretty good, I would take her if you want to learn and pass with a good grade.
I think professor Zhang has been the worst professor in my TU experience as of now. She is a very rude professor and does not do ANYTHING to help you pass the class. You are better off learning by yourself than having her as a professor. You WILL teach yourself for this class, so have that in mind. If you can choose another professor, DO IT!!
Professor Zhang is the type of professor who will always ask you to come to her with any issues and then respond with a rude comment about how if you paid attention you'd know the answer. The way she organizes assignments on blackboard is almost impossible to comprehend as well. You'll need to make some friends in the class to figure it out.
cant understand her and her grading makes no sense
Worst professor ever. Never knew what was going on. Made us teach the class and then critiqued us on our work without telling us what she wanted in the first place. Anyone that gave her above a 2 is just lying or rated the wrong professor.
Show up to class. It is extremely boring but she will keep tabs on you.
I'm not gonna lie. This is the second time I have taken her. The first I did not love her, but in taking her a second time. You see that she really tries and wants everyone to do well and is a sweet lady. Yes sometimes she can make stuff extra difficult. But she is a sweet lady with a good heart. Do not be fooled by all these brash ratings.
I took this class online and the class itself is very straight forward and overall pretty easy. But, the problem is the professor. She is not very accommodating to the needs of her students and completely lacks empathy. If you can take this class with any other professor, do it!!
She was a pretty good professor, there was a lot of work that was done in class but it was pretty manageble. the exams were online so it was pretty solid. I also took this class as a hybrid. Overall the better professors for this course.
She was very good and the class was very easy and the exam were online so i think she was a very fair grader and overall a really nice person.
Extremely unorganized and unprofessional. Holds other students hostage for the entire 3 hours allotted to grade other student's weekly homework assignments. Very unclear on what she expects week to week. Avoid at all costs.
Professor Zhang is all over the place but her class is not too bad as long as you stay on top of your homework and attend every class. I would take her if I had to take EBTM 365 or 350 all over again.
Not a good professor in my opinion. Her lectures are sooo boring and she is very in your face if you are not interested in the class. Her grading never makes much sense, and she is all over the place during lectures. I would not suggest her.
Professor Zhang genuinely cares about her students and adjusts her teaching style based on feedback. Though her classes are lecture-heavy, she focuses on key exam topics and provides numerous bonus opportunities to help students succeed.
Professor Zhang was ok. Her grading criteria sucks. She offers bonus points throughout the semester for participation but seems useless bc it's always 0.01, 0.02, etc. Homework on connect every weekend. 1 group assignment which she grades VERY harshly. Lectures are loaded and boring, will most likely have to teach yourself outside of class.
Honestly, no. She isn't the worst, she's a sweet old lady but pick someone else if you can. She didn't teach the course clearly so it kinda made no sense. All ima say is I'm lucky she made the final online.
Professor Zhang can be hit-or-miss, but with some effort, the class is manageable. Definitely use resources like Unstuck study alongside the textbook to prepare - it really helped me stay on top of things.
Take it online if you can. Super weird and hard material, but easy exams. Never emailed her, but I am sure she's kind. Easy blackboard set up, and she lets you have multiple attempts on each assignment.
Professor Zhang was pretty good. Lots of opportunity for bonus points, which count towards your final weighted grade, but you have to participate in class to get the points. Exams were tough, but fair. Not an incredibly difficult course, but very easy to get lost if you don't pay attention and do the homework.
Needed to put this out there before yall enroll. DO NOT TAKE HER! Lowkey an easy course but made literally unbearable with her. I've never had a professor like her. She will yell at you, air out your personal business to everyone, keeps you the entire 3 hour class for no reason, and will spend 30 minutes on one slide that has 5 words on it.
A wonderful profession with wonderful personalities. It's fun to sit in her class. She brings interesting stories related to the course and encourages you to use all resources to learn. The class requires attention and participation. Highly recommend her.
Do. Not. Take. This class was so unbearable. She will tell everyone your personal business and not care. She will call you out in front of everyone all the time. This class was just so confusing in general. Avoid.
She made this class so difficult for no reason, spent so much time on 1 slide, doesn't count your attendance even if you're 3 minutes late to a 3 HOUR LONG class. Class has one group project that's easy if you pick good partners, so many boring non-useful smartbooks and long connect hw (39 questions). just avoid at all cost.
