Professor Baumann was great. She cares about everyone and wants to make sure you learn everything and pass. She is fun, keeps the class interesting, and the type of professor you feel comfortable talking to.
Awesome professor! She really cares about how you're doing in the class and is always there to help. She swears a lot though, so if you think swearing is unprofessional then you won't like her. That said, this was my favorite class and I learned a lot!
If you have the choice, take her
Greeeeeeeeat !!!!!! Class i really enjoyed it and it was so easy with her.
Ali is one of the most fun professors I have ever had. She made every class very enjoyable and had a very clear cut goal of making sure we all took away useful skills for real world engineering. Would definitely take this professor again.
she help me so much in my class, and she is the best professor for the FSE 100
she very helpful. but you need to work hard
Ali is great. She is very knowledgeable and a good teacher, she's very nice, and she really wants you to pass. She's very willing to help even if you don't ask. Some people complained about her lightheartedness, but she's serious when she needs to be. Can't say enough good about her.
She is very helpful and was always there to give you her input on a situation. She seemed to have passion that some other professors lack and she does her job well. I would take any classes she gives again. She even said it was the first time she was teaching the class, too. Well done.
I highly recommend, to take her class. Go Aheaaaaad !!!
She is the best at ASU hands down. Take her class if you want to be a good engineer, she will help you even if you didn't ask for. BEST PROFESSOR YOU WILL EVER TAKE A CLASS WITH.
Professor Baumann is an amazing professor. CSE120 is a fairly complex subject, but Baumann is such an amazing professor that the subject seems easy. I will definitely try to take a class from her again.
(CSE120 and EEE120 are the same class) Prof. Baumann was an amazing teacher, and very approachable! She's always there to help, and gives tons of extra credit so you'll have no problem getting an A if you try. She's great at helping students learn in lectures, so you'll pick things up very fast! You'll need the textbook for homework problems.
The homework is tough and requires the textbook to complete, but she offered to let students take pictures of the hw problems using her personal copy. The lectures are very detailed and should be all the information you need to get an A. She is very helpful if you need help. Labs are time consuming but guide you through all the steps. Tough final
the best teacher ive ever had
One of the best teachers hands down!! It's not easy being a college student but trust me when I say that she will make your life easier. The material is sort of hard, and you do have complicated homework, but having a teacher that will sit down with you and help you throughout the entire ordeal is a GEM. I 100% recommend this teacher.
If she didn't follow the curriculum, I could see her just hanging out with us during class . She's a hilarious individual who truly cares about your future success rather than promoting an understanding of a designed curriculum for "Intro to Engineering". Her class was structured to focus on developing strong work habits and resume building. Easy A
I absolutely loved Ali! She is hilarious, helpful and really laid back. Her class is entertaining and easy, and she gives a lot of extra credit opportunities. I recommend taking her if you can! Pretty sure everyone loves her.
This class is extremely easy. Ali helps you with any questions you may have. There is a quiz at the end of each lecture, but you get a cheat sheet. Doing the homework assignments help a lot for the quiz's. I got a 100% on almost every quiz. Also Ali is super chill and is hilarious.
She's really nice and does honors credit which was awesome. I really enjoyed getting a taste for engineering in my first year.
Her class is very laid back, and she is pretty easy going. She wants her students to succeed, and she is very open to help. The first half of the class is a breeze, but you have to put in a bit more effort in the second half with the final project. She has very clear requirements, and if you follow them, the class is an easy A.
Ali was great! Her class is really laid back, and she is hilarious. She truly cares about our future as engineers and does her best to help prepare us for a job and build our resumes. She offers plenty of extra credit and is extremely helpful so her class is really low stress. Take Ali, she will be one of the best professors you will ever have!
Ali is probrably the best professor at ASU, I had her for the spring semester, and her class was the best. Laid back, funny, and wants everyone to succeed. I had taken and dropped this class with another Professor and hated it. So glad I ended up in Ali's class, helped me stick with engineering. If you have the chance, take her class!
Ali was probably my best professor this semester. She truly cared about developing your skills as a professional. Her class is easy, as long as you do the work.
Great professor. Ali is very clear and is willing to help anyone with anything.
Her class will make you a better engineer! She truly cares about her students! Thanks to Professor Ali, I was able to feel like an engineer for the first time!
she is still a great professor. I have had her for two classes and she makes tough concepts easy to learn, I don't know how she does it but someone could tell you one thing and it will make no sense but when she says it, it makes all the sense in the world. luv her would take 10/10
Ali is the best. Take her for an easy A. She gives a lot of extra credits. Just make sure to show up and do all the homework on time. If you did not understand the material? She's gonna help. I would take more classes with her! She's so nice.
SHE IS AMAZING! She is funny and will become like a friend to you. I go to her office hours just to say hi. She also gives lots of extra credit and is super nice and willing to help you with anything. Even gave me an answer for a question on the final! You are missing out if you don't take her!!!!!
Truly an amazing and easy going professor. She is really helpful, nice and smart. A lot of work was assigned as well easy, but a lot of it. TA's were useless this spring semester, but nice. Cons- talks a lot and emphasizes teamwork. Don't expect an easy "A" it still took a lot of work to get an "A". Would highly recommend to incoming students.
She is such an amazing professor! She loves her students and cares about them. Supper fun, even though it isn't an easy class, expect a lot of work through the projects, but it's light and easy to get an A as long as you do your job correctly. She gives tons of extra credit too. Professor Baumann is a real gem.
Favorite professor I ever had. Cares the most about how much you learn and how it will help you in the future. She is funny and cool and pretty good looking honestly. There is a lot of work for a 2 credit course but that is because of the course set up not because of her. She pushes you but s very helpful at the same time. I highly recommend her!
This review is LONG overdue. I took this class with her last summer 2015 and she is still the best professor I've had yet. She GENUINELY cares about the students. I was having some problems at the time & she really pushed for me and went out of her way to help me succeed. Rearrange your schedule if you have to to take her class. It is worth it!!
Ali is an absolute gem and one of my favorite professors. She's kind, helpful, and hilarious. She explains concepts clearly and has real-world experience. She's always willing to adapt to what fits a student best (especially helpful with slacker teammates). Especially supportive when I had a major death in the family. Don't miss her!!
CSE120 is simple at first and gets progressively complex. Ali is very helpful in class and during office hours, but be prepared to work. Labs are on your own time and later sim labs are impossible. End of semester compounded by a major lab, capstone project w/ oral exam, and final. Group quizzes and extra credit are common. HW is manageable.
Ali is at least on the top 2 of best professors I had this semester. The lab project is super fun, and she's hilarious but she also helps you with ANYTHING you need. She's got a lot of industry experience, so she teaches and shows how things actually are in industry, instead of just teaching the basic stuff If you have the chance, TAKE HER CLASS.
Best teacher that I've had all year. She is very helpful and understanding. Gives tons of extra credit and she is very sweet.
Ali is a great professor. But you will work a lot throughout the semester. She gives punch of extra credits and cares about her students.
Ali Baunmann is tied for my favorite professor. Her dark sense of humor definitely makes the class worth attending (and seeing as FSE lab is 3 hours long, that's very important). While the class is very heavy on one project, the extra credit given will help soften the blow incase you don't do well. I recommend taking her if you can!
Professor Baumann is one of the bet professors I've came upon at ASU. She genuinely cares for your understanding and will make the time to help you whenever possible. ATTEND HER OFFICE HOURS! She WILL help you. There are plenty of labs and hws but it is the same with all professors. Don't miss out on her. TAKE HER! She is well prepared.
Best professor I've had at ASU! Her lectures are clear, she tries to keep it as interesting as she can. She is SUPER HELPFUL in office hours! Go to office hours to do homework and sim labs and she'll help you out greatly. Gave lots of extra credit. Overall, amazing professor, so glad I took her class.
Alicia Baumann cares about her students succeeding. She would be a good person to talk about your interest. She will guide you and gives you lots of information. She will make sure to prepare you for future careers. She is a really good professor. Make sure to take her advice it will only benefit you. Overall, I highly recommend taking her.
Took Circuits I online. Content was difficult but quizzes (40%) weren't too difficult. Final was 40% of the class and was fairly tough, but fair. Used textbook a lot and final exam came from homeworks. She curved overall grades at the end since students did not do too well on final. Labs (20%) were intense. Highly recommended!
This class was just for transfer students going into an engineering major at ASU. It went over much-needed information on the university and programs offered. It was an easy A+ if you got the very few assignments submitted on time. 1 assignment per week, for 8 weeks. It was very effective at explaining the things available at ASU and helping study.
Professor Baumann makes this class extremely easy to understand and the material is actually interesting. There is a spike in difficulty about half way through the semester, but before that Baumann keeps the class very simple. Also, the labs are unscheduled and the final project is very tedious. Other than those difficult parts the class is simple.
Pretty good professor, keeps this 2 credit freshmen course simple as it should be. There's one final project that takes most of the semester, don't botch it. Definitely try and take her course.
Professor Aly is AMAZING. She is super helpful and cares about her students 100%. Homework and quizzes are not hard if you study what she teaches. She always advises what to study for and what will be on the quizzes. Easy A if you pay attention and enjoy your teaching and company. Not to mention, she is one of the most Beautiful teachers at ASU
Baumann is the best. She makes the class fun and is really relatable. 47% of your grade for this class is a group project so make sure that you do well on that. The final is not worth a ton and isn't too bad. Baumann is accessible outside of class and is always willing to help. Would definitely have her as a prof again.
The class had had grading TAs, but the teacher had amazing lectures and was easy to communicate with and work with.
Best professor ever to learn from.
My friends recommended her to me and said there is no one with more energy, no one with more passion or inspiration than Ali. She works hard everyday to make her lessons entertaining and make engineering fun like it should be. I am a junior and I can tell you that no other class in the next 2 years will be the same as this class. enjoy it. haha
Ali cares so much about her students and really wants each and every one of her students to succeed and learn the material, she makes a hard class like 120 easy. If you dont understand he material she will make sure you do if you take time to go to her office hours. She really is one of the BEST professors you can have at ASU.
She deserves that 5.0 on rate my professors. She really does. 100% would take her again!
The class itself is extremely hard but with tons of extra credit she gives and her enthusiasm, you'll survive!
Fantastic teacher, takes an intro class and gets you excited to be there. Teaches you invaluable information about life out in industry. The class itself is easy but she ensures you really take away some great skills and engineering practices.
She's awesome. If you have to take this class, do it with her. Easiest A+ credit you can get.
She is an amazing and funny person. There is a reason she has a 5.0 rating. She has the funnest and most interesting lab, as you get to build a solar car instead of a power plant. Quite a bit of work, especially if you have lazy group members. If you work hard and do everything, including extra credit, it's an easy A+.
I loved taking this class with Ali! She was a wonderful instructor and she has recent industry experience and understands what it's like to be a modern engineering student. 10/10 would take again!
Baumann is a gem. She's the kind of professor that will explain the same thing 3 times in a row until the whole class understands. She's highly knowledgeable of the subject and teaches it in a way that's easy to digest, as long as you come to class. It's not easy trying to learn it on your own, but come to class and everything will make sense.
If you do your work, she makes sure you get an A.
She deserves the perfect rating! She's helpful, enthusiastic, & teaches valuable lessons. Quizzes are super simple, and there's only one test. The class can be a lot of work if you get sucky members, but she's easy to talk to about it and will help if there are any issues! Just do the work and it's an easy A! Lot's of extra credit opportunities!
Tons of homework (especially for a 2 credit class) but that tends to be for all professors for this class. Keeps lectures interesting, open note quizzes every week. Offers ridiculous amount of extra credit but even if you're too lazy to do it she also gives extra credit on the final project. In October I thought I'd get a B and ended up with 105%.
Ali is the perfect teacher for the FSE classes, she is knowledgeable and respected while remaining approachable. Can't go wrong with this class, and if you work you should easily get an A.
Ali Baumann is hands down one of the best FSE 100 professors. She is knowledgeable about the material and conveys it in a way that is easy for students to understand. She does assign a lot of work, but gives extra credit and is easily accessible outside of class to answer questions and help with projects. She truly cares about her students.
Ali was a really fun professor who was pretty laid back but still made sure you understood what you needed to do. Did take effort to do the main design project, especially if you had a bad group. She really did help you a lot along the way if you needed it and cared about your grade. Tons of extra credit opportunities. Pretty easy A
She was an awesome teacher and I wish that I was able to take more classes with her.
Amazing professor, kind and caring about students; she puts in hard work to make sure students understand the class. Does get much harder about halfway through but she makes it easy to comprehend. Labs are now scheduled. Every homework has extra credit questions & there are other extra credit options towards the end. Curves grading scale. Love her!
I took Ali for a TA class but she was always super accessible and left clear guidelines for TAs to follow and made sure we were always in the loop on Piazza. She won't be directing the UGTAs next semester and she's having a kid, but in any other class I am sure she is just as amazing!
Hands down the best instructor I've experienced in my life. Came to class expecting to love the material, left having confirmed that. Lectures really, really well and you can tell she actually thinks of her students as real human beings. Very understanding. Good balance of caring about what she's doing without having super high expectations of you.
Such a horrible professor, I'd never go out of my way to give someone a bad review but she is just so rude that I'm just glad to do it. Has no idea how to explain things correctly, super demeaning when you ask something, and when she then wonders why no one gets what's expected. Just avoid her.
A really nice person, sweet voice. Extra credit and kind to students
Ali is awesome! She reached out early before the term to let us know what materials were required for the class. She'll respond to emails quickly and she's very helpful. Some of the labs will take 2 days each, unless you like pulling all-nighters. Study for the final, it's hard compared to the quizzes.
Amazing professor!! Definitely one of the most caring and helpful I've had throughout school. She makes the course worth taking, and is very active for responding to questions. The material can be confusing but she holds open QnA sessions you can jump into for more simple explanations and help with projects.
She's really honest and straight up about everything. So if your letting your group down she will rip you a new one. But just make sure not to be that person. All assignments are very clear, and its easy to tell what she wants. 99%+ is an A+ and I thought this was not obtainable until the EC kicked in. Do the EC and do well on the final project.
Ali is an amazing professor! She is very smart and willing to help. She is extremely knowledgeable and she is very easy to talk to. This was my favorite class this semester, and I hope to be able to take her for future classes. You have to put in effort and work, but in the end, it is so worth it and I highly recommend her.
Very enthusiastic about her class and students, and one of the most interactive instructors I had this Fall. Brutally honest, which helped in the long run that this semester was. ALWAYS replies to emails, and is serious about TA conduct and negligence. A fair but TOUGH grader, which is made up for by the extra credit at the end of the semester!
Professor Baumann is one of the best professors I had all semester. She is very clear about what she expects in assignments and has rubrics for everything to clarify. The class is entirely based on group projects, and participation plays a huge role. As long as you participate and do the work on time, I would 100% recommend everyone to take her.
crazy busy-work for intro. Instructions are not clear; prompts will reference a myriad of forgotten, contradictory documents scattered about Canvas. You think you're done with a project, then you find a forgotten PDF and have to restart completely. Happy with the grade, but needlessly disorganized and exhausting. That aside, kind & responsive.
The material is tough and the labs/homework assignments take a long time, but if you attend all her lectures and stay on top of assignments, you'll do fine. Baumann's pretty experienced and explains things pretty well, she'll go over stuff again and give extra review if you ask. THE TEXTBOOK THAT'S LISTED IS OPTIONAL, NOT MANDATORY, DO NOT BUY IT
solid professor and cares about students, the quizzes are decent and homework and labs are kinda long but spaced out to give you time in between
Baumann is amazing. She may come off as rude, but she loves her students and is willing to work with them to help them with anything. The material isn't the most difficult, but beware of the labs, and start them early.
She is a good teacher for this course. She makes it clear what she wants for homework, quizzes, and tests. If you do not do it how she explained it then you will be docked off points for it. She has extra credit opportunities which I highly recommend you do because near the end of the course the workload increases and its nice to have extra credit!
Had Professor Baumann for FSE100 and I would definitely take it again with her. It might be more work than other FSE classes, but she gives excellent feedback and is always willing to help. Overall great class and great professor.
She is awesome! She is very funny and helpful. Would definitely take again.
Lots of extra credit opportunities. The course isn't the easiest, but if you put some time into it its not that bad at all. She knows her stuff, provides tons of help hours and does a good job teaching, what more do you need?
While this is a difficult class, Ali makes it very enjoyable. The lectures are very good and they keep you engaged. The projects are difficult, but Ali and the TA were very helpful. Grades somewhat easy as long as you follow the rubrics and guidelines. Put in the work and you will pass. Highly recommend her.
I took both FSE100 and EEE120 with Ali. She treats students very realistically (understanding with deadlines, grading) and you don't feel intimidated by her at all. Lots of extra credit available, lenient grading. She knows what she's doing and knows how to teach. Helpful office hours and online help, quick response to emails. Hilarious too
Great professor, lots of extra credit built into homework. Exams aren't too bad and often reflect the practice tests, the labs can be a bit lengthy but you can easily get help on them.
Awesome teacher who offers lots of extra credit. Can easily pass, but labs get progressively harder.
Ms. Ali is a great professor at ASU. I think CSE/EEE 120 class is not an easy class. However, if you can follow Ms. Ali's lecture; you will be fine. Ms. Ali also posts the class lecture online, it should not be a hard class if you spend time on it.
Phenomenal Professor without a doubt. But the style of her class made it very difficult to achieve a good grade. Homework was lengthy though she gave a ton of extra credit and her final exam dipped my grade a lot. If you're looking for a good grade, avoid taking her. If you wanna learn, she's a great choice.
CSE 120 as a course is designed to contain a lot of busy work and the labs and hw can take up a lot of time. However, Baumann cuts out a lot of the extra work and teaches her own lectures, unlike the other professors that are doing this class. She takes time to go through each concept thoroughly and provides students with good examples.
Professor Baumann is awesome! She makes a conceptually difficult class simple. The homework is hard and very long, but it forces you to figure out how the components operate. The quizzes were not hard, but the final was pretty difficult. She is very helpful and is accessible in office hours or via slack.
Professor is good but this class in general is hard, this prof doesn't give as much as extra credit as other professors so keep that in mind
Baumann made this class literally one of my favorite classes I've ever taken in my life. I seriously considered switching majors from CS to EE after taking this, but I realize I don't even like EE that much, Baumann just made this a really great class. She writes notes as she goes rather than just using lecture slides which was super helpful too
Baumann was by FAR my worst professor I've ever had to tolerate. I was a 4.0 Student prior to my experience with her and am currently a Junior in EE. She insulted people with disabilities in class saying "Should I pity you for" x disability, etc. Grading was per team, but she expected you to take the bad grade even if only you contributed.
Baumann is an okay professor, she cares a lot about the class, but there are a lot of better ones to pick from. More work load and harder projects were given than other FSE100 classes. Her lectures were not very captivating. She has mentioned that she dislikes certain groups, and makes it very apparent during class.
Professor Baumann as a professor is amazing, but the work-load was impressive (although not too difficult per-se). This class counts for only 2 credits but, in total, probably took-up more time than all my other classes during the semester. Considering its a first-semester class that's not a tough bar to pass, but is still an insane feat IMO.
Have workload for a two credit class. Group reliant and necessary to have time to dedicate. Strict grader but if you can mange you learn a lot. Overall good professor but crazy class with a heavy workload. If know Matlab or Arduino you will excel. Different from the rest of the FSE classes
She does a great job making this simple 2 credit class feel like a living hell. This class is only two credits but be prepared to be spending way more time on this class than the rest of your other classes combined. There is an endless amount of assignments due every week that are just handed out without much explanation. Don't take Allie for fse.
Ali is very nice and funny, but do not take her class unless you are a mech or elec eng. major, it is heavily focused on those majors and you'll be left out if you're chem or bio. Also, this class was WAY too much work, especially for a two credit! It took up more time than, physics, chem and other difficult math courses, unnecessary amount of work
Very tough grader, the workload was genuinely insane for a 2 credit course, the projects were way harder than other students. she does give a lot of extra credit work which was the only reason i got that grade. I would not recommend to anyone hated every aspect of it. the instructor is passionate but not great or understanding.
Group projects blow. Blows even harder when you have two useless pieces of luggage and you have to do everything. There are too many worksheets/memos you have to do in this class. This class took so much time for a 2-credit class. The professor is knowledgeable and passionate hence the high score but DO NOT take her for FSE100.
Wish I had another group. I wasn't being included and my group purposely would reach out to everyone but me and made some blatant excuse. It took me to have to report and a tense conversation with them. Too many tedious assignments towards the end. Not a good experience for me personally, but, loved her passionate personality though.
FSE 201 was mostly just a Canvas shell for UGTAs. However, Professor Baumann was very communicative and provided many resources to help students succeed.
Worst prof to take for EEE 120...... TAKE MILLMAN, DONT MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE THAT I DID JUST BY LOOKING ON THE RATE MY PROFESSOR RATING
A LOT of workload. READ the manuals for the labs (if u dont u will get a horrible grade), dont be fooled by how simple first lecture is, and dont procrastinate on homeworks because they are horrible if done on the last day due. I had to watch Millmans canvas videos to learn most content, and lectures were hard to understand but shes a decentteacher
She's a great teacher, and her class was great. She's not boring and dry like some teachers. There is quite a bit of HW but it isn't that bad. The lab manuals hold your hand through the lab basically, and the actual homework is doable. Just don't put off the homework too long though. There's lots of extra credit offered and you can get >100% grade.
Fun professor. Provides more hints and help on labs than Millman but provides less working in class time. Lectures explain abstract concepts in more understandable terminology/analogies. Best piece of advice is just to work through assignments early on so that you aren't overloaded with labs/homework.
As hard as this class was, I had a lot of fun in it. The professor has a simple but clear lecturing style, and it was easy to understand what she was doing. Homework is HARD, but if you ask for help in how to understand it, it helps A LOT. Same for the quizzes, if you ask for HOW to understand it, she is very clear and understandable. TAKE NOTES.
You will not find a better professor for this course. Ally is very compassionate and involved and you will out get exactly what you put in for this class. This class reminded me why I wanted to be an engineer
Ali is a great professor and you will get much more out of her class than if you take FSE100 with just a TA. However, I Had significantly more work for FSE 100 than my roommates who took FSE100 with a TA. The projects were fun, but they often require you to build outside of class if you want to get your prototype in on time.
Ali is an amazing professor! If you have her for FSE 100, be prepared though, because it's tough. Her FSE 100 class is definitely one of the hardest out of all the FSE 100 classes. The whole course relies on group work and has an insane amount of work. She's normally a nice grader but be a good student. Pay attention and ask questions.
My favorite teacher at ASU so far. The class has a lot of work for only two credits, but you will genuinely learn so much in her class. It's practical and Ali makes sure to prepare you for future engineering classes. I cannot recommend her enough. Also, she's funny and super cool.
She's a great person and always willing to help, but the workload for a two-credit class is hefty. Whether or not you get a good group influences how hard or easy the class is because there are three projects that make up the entire semester, including several individual assignments along the way.
Not much lecturing and most classes are work days. Individual homework mostly in the first half of semester. Expect to work additional hours each week on group projects. Assigned groups of 4 for the whole semester so hope for good partners. Heavy work load for a 2 credit class but fun projects and lots of extra credit opportunities
Professor Baumann was the best teacher I have ever had, she is funny and is very involved in her classes. She makes the class interesting while providing real world experience on a variety of areas. The class does take work, and is very group involved however, it is an awesome and fun class, I strongly encourage you to take this professor.
Professor Baumann is great, but the workload for this 2-credit class is insane. Group projects and endless weekly assignments make it a huge time sink. Use unstuck ai and ChatGPT for study prep to save time.
Great Professor who is very compassionate, supportive and flexible. One of our groupmates by the name of Rebecca transferred schools mid term and Alicia was very supportive of our group by extending deadlines and providing us with weekly checkins. I was very unpunctual at times and she helped me fix those bad habits and grow as a student.
She's the kindest, most caring prof ever. Offers really generous homework extensions, tons of extra credit, and had a fair curve on the final. If you get the logic tutor, quizzes are easy. Super approachable, don't hesitate to ask questions. Overall, a phenomenal professor, would def take again.
Always helpful and kind
A lot of work for only a 2 cred course but lowk worth it since it prepares us well for future courses. Groups are RNG based so you better pray you get a good one but regardless, you will learn something useful. Engaging lectures and funny at times. TAs are also really chill too. Would definitely recommend if you want to actually learn something.
The workload is excessive for a 2-credit class, especially compared to other sections. Assignments are frequent and time-consuming, and expectations feel unclear. The class content isn't very useful, and the structure makes it hard to enjoy or learn effectively. I'd recommend a different instructor. Useless class ai can do everything in the course.
She gives more work/harder projects than other FSE100 sections, and she will dock your grades arbitrarily. Some of the assignments are literally impossible to get 100% on (such as explaining an entire file of code line by line in 5 minutes or less). Don't use ChatGPT either because she HATES it. Assigned more work than my 4 credit Chem class.
Worst teacher I've ever taken. Never gone out of my way to write a bad review. Ali grades harshly, assigns extensive work for a 2 credit intro class, and has a bad temper 9/10 times. She's out of touch with the way she runs her class, pick ANY other professor as she's the only FSE instructor to assign countless unfair projects with random groups.
Humorous and acts friendly during lectures, but can act snarky when you ask questions during work times and give the impression of "why should I care?" I like the concepts being taught, but there is so much to take in, and not everything is given equal time to process and understand, although she'll test your knowledge as if you're very familiar.
Professor Baumann was a very laid back professor. If I had a better group I feel I would of enjoyed this class. The projects aren't too bad if your group actually helps you out. Lots of work, but none of it is too hard. MAKE SURE TO COMPLAIN ABOUT USELESS GROUP MEMBERS AS SOON AS IT HAPPENS. She was very on top of it, and helped me out for that.
So much extra credit and reasonable tests and practice quizzes that are actually helpful. Also has a really helpful LogicCoin system where you can submit homeworks late that I used for almost every homework (I felt a bit bad) and could submit without penalty. I'd take her over Millman for EEE120, she is very down to earth.
She is easy to reach out to. There are A LOT of papers like A LOT, but they aren't hard just tedious. Projects are pretty enjoyable, so long as you have a good group
The class on its own is very easy, Baumann herself said it's impossible not to get an A in this course unless you try.
