she is a really boring teacher. Too bad, we still have 2 more class days, but i'm sure i will be flying outside of her classroom once the clock hit on 9pm. She has a problem is that she never looks into your eyes when she speaks, so I'd say she is legally blind.

DON'T TAKE A CLASS WITH HER unless you like being confused, yelled at, and worked to death for no apparent reason.

She is so hard to follow, her online class is page after page of instructions which change from day to day. Her instructions are really hard to follow, she makes everything way more complicated than it needs to be! She is a really tough grader I think she doesn't want anyone to out do her as a writer!

When you would ask for help, none of her help, actually really helped you, I mean she would speak to you but everything she said had no substance for example if I asked her how I should go about one sentence, she would tell me to re-organize the whole paragraph, change the vagueness of the sentence because according to her every sentence was vague

Not impressed! Taking online course and it is so unorganized! Stuff is posted late & not very well organized. Very quick to criticize but doesn't offer true help. Still waiting for grade on work from 7 weeks ago. Will avoid this professor in the future.

Honestly the worst teacher I've had in my entire life. I took creative writing with her, a subject I typically loved, which she thoroughly killed for me by the end of the semester. Her inane comments and suggestions on my work were useless and while I was excited at the beginning of the semester, I spent all of class waiting to bolt out of the room

Terrible teacher, I learned nothing from her creative writing class. I sat in the back everyday just so I could get out immediately after class was over, but she counts attendance. Worst teacher ever!!! expects way to much on little assingments that should be easy points. Didnt help at all when I stayed after class. She just said to refer to the book, but the book didnt have to answer. Wait to take this course if she is the last one available. Plus, she blames you when she doesnt open her dropboxes on time.

Bad teacher. Always negative. Just brings you down. Never ever positive feedback. Never will give you full points on even the easiest thing or ever say good job. EVER. Real discouraging.

She makes you feel stupid in the class. I never had a bad grade on an English paper because English is one of my strong subjects until I had her. I wish I took Pass/fail because she has crazy high expectations. It's almost as if she's comparing a godly paper to your own and expects it to be that great. She is horrible grading styles and very picky.

I think I saw her laugh once as she handed the whole class back their failed research papers. Her reasoning is often unjust and ridiculous.

Very hard on grading. And like others have said, her reasons for taking off points are not clear and she does not provide solid reasoning for why it is incorrect. If you want to get an A, make sure to attend one on one meetings with her so you can write the paper how she wants it.

Her directions are incomprehensible; even the tutors in the writing center couldn't decipher the nonsense on her 3-4 PAGE assignment sheets (packets, more like it) that were jumbled to say the least. Her expectations are so narrow and specific, yet so impossibly vague that I wonder how she ever got anywhere in life.

I can't imagine a worse professor for creative writing. She makes so many demands for each poem that there's no room to be creative. Her assignments are graded based on criteria that she never mentioned prior to the due date. She has no sense of subjectivity--hers is the only "correct" interpretation of a story. Gives out packets of specific guidelines for assignments and even if you meet all her requirements you still receive a low grade. She seems very scattered and her class is discouraging to say the least

Terrible teacher! Everything you say is wrong in her mind. Assignments are confusing and when you ask questions, she doesn't answer them directly. Usually writing is easy for me and I get exceptionally good grades, but this class was a struggle and all my papers got very low grades.

I am an adult learner with over 22 years of corporate writing experience.I have never been barraged with such subjectivity and useless unprofessional attitude.I took off work to meet with her and still nothing.I have complained to the dean, they just take her side and say what a "good writer" she is. I have even looked at a lawsuit!

I thought I was a writer. Never thought it was humanly possible, but I actually had my creativity and my drive to succeed sucked from me as I sat through her semester. Doesn't matter if her convoluted assignments and comments disheartened me. I held out hope, the toughness and research I had to do to understand her would strengthen me. I was wrong.

This has to be the biggest joke and waste of money professor in town. She gets "happy" off failing students. She does not teach, only the "book" and always accusing folks of copying. Not sure how everything can be copied from your head? The school should see this is a joke. I have talked to over 9 other students with similar concerns.

Her assignment packets don't mean anything because she will contradict herself in your final grade. They are not specific at all!In the final research paper she had two of my drafts and i compared both of them and she left comments that made no sense! HORRIBLE TEACHER!!!!!!

Worst proff EVER. HIGHLY unprofessional, I actually reported her to HR. It doesn't matter how hard you work, she will do everything she can to fail you, even when it contradicts her grading rubric. I called her out on some over email and her replies were ridiculous and rude. There was no point trying. She even yelled at the class over D2L.

I'm extremely disappointed. This is the second time I've taken a class at Normandale and it has been switched to a different professor and it has been a horrible experience, otherwise I love the school. I am taking her Creative Writing class and there is no room to be creative, the grading rubric is so narrow I can't express myself. Impossible.

I always got an A on the papers, but for some reason did poorly on the homework assignments that I worked really hard on. She was not approachable at all and I would not recommend her as a teacher at all! The book you have to read is terrible and there is a lot of busywork.

Whatever you do, DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS! She doesn't follow her grading rubic, and she gave me C's & D's on homework that I worked really hard on. She also accused me of plagiarism a couple of times which I didn't do! I love writing, but she sucked all of the energy I had! Try your best to get ANY other teacher. She is extremely rude to her students and if you need help you will have better luck asking wall. She is an extremely tough grader I went to the writing center for all of my papers but never recieved anything higher than a c-. She is very unorganized and is extremely slow putting anything in D2l.

Alicia is by far the worst teacher I have ever had. There would be times when we would have a test and everyone would look around in confusion because we had no clue we had one. She is always completely unprepared to give lectures, she has no organization in her curriculum. Do every thing you can to not take her class

She is a very unorganized teacher. She can also be very sassy to students and she is reluctant to help you. Overall she is not a good teacher.

If you have the option, do not have her as your teacher. This teacher with this class is for sure not an easy A. Make sure you read everything and work ahead of time if you want to get a good grade.

She is terrible at describing anything in class and will not accept anything that is not written to her style. She always hides behind her "class policy" and somehow believes when her entire class does not understand the instructions it is not her fault. Absolutely horrible professor. Impossible to receive any grade above a C. Annoying and boring lectures. Quizzes are pretty much impossible and does not help students at all. This class is miserable. DON'T TAKE IT.

I dreaded going to this class every week. The instructor seemed to try to over-correct disorganisation by giving way too much information. I never knew what was actually important . With papers we never knew what was really expected. There were many times where I thought I had nailed an assignment and I ended up almost failing. Avoid at all costs.

She's completely heartless and doesn't care if you are having severe documented mental health issues or are in the ER or hospital. She expects everything to be in and has dropboxs for 8am regularly. She gives more homework than all my other classes combined and more than all the classes I took last year in HS combined. She wont answer Qs either

Her communication skills to students are poor. Very confusing in most things she explains. She likes to not Answer your questions directly so she leaves you in even more confusion. Tough grader on papers as well.

Alicia is the worst professor I've ever had. She let some students retake tests and redo assignments but told others they couldn't. She will lecture the entire period but doesn't actually teach anything. She always tells you to ask questions, but you can only ask during office hours. Do not take her classes unless you want to fail for working hard

I took this class blended/hybrid. She was so disorganized that none of us ever knew what or when anything way due and no late work is accepted. Lectures were long and disorganized. I never learned anything. She was rarely available outside of class. If you miss 3 classes it's an automatic fail. I would NOT recommend this professor.

She is very confusing in what she wants you to do. The course schedule says something different than what she tells you to do in class, so it is very deceiving. She grades very hard and not very clear. On my last paper she crossed out a whole paragraph and just wrote "wrong" next to it. Doesn't give very clear feedback.

Conroy does not know how to grade. She constantly gives different grades for similar answers on tests. She will even change her mind about grades you got and switch them suddenly. Also you are constantly writing essays. Do not take this class!

Very confusing directions for homework and papers and a really tough grader.

Does not know what she wants you to do. She will give examples and discuss assignments with you, but she will never give out an A no matter how good a job you do. Her incentive is to make the student think that they can always do better which makes it impossible to get an A for the class, getting a B would require a great amount of toiling.

Horrible feedback too, sometimes she'll cross out a whole paragraph and write "wrong" without letting you know why. I love writing and I don't think I will pass

I don't know what I have learned at all this semester...

The first week of our semester for Spring began and almost half the class failed the first assignment. The same thing happened for our week 8/9 assignment as well. You can't get better than a B or C. the due dates are at really strange times and difficult to work around. No other class has stressed me this much.

You have to complete assignments a very specific way or you get a horrible score.

First time coming into this class, I have already known that something bad it's gonna happen because of the unclear talking from this instructor and some discrimination to me. She gave me a lot of homework, paper, essay, and work like every day you have to do it or else you will get a zero. Nobody got an A in this class, even I could not get a C.

Inconsistent grader, always changing information in the syllabus. Instructions for assignments and papers unclear, and just refers you to the textbooks for everything, hardly explaining anything. Huge attitude, gets frustrated at students for her own unclear directions.

This professor is horrible, I don't like nothing about her, I work so hard in this class. Yet I don't get a A on none of her papers. No one barely has a A in this class. She gave us so many papers and not enough time to do it. She's also a tough grader. I swear she's one of the worst professor I have taken. I would never recommend anyone to her.

I would not take this Professor again. I do not recommend her at all to anyone. She uses the N word in the readings and sometimes not in the reading. No matter how much work you put into your papers and homework she does not grade them reasonably. She stays on one topic for days on end and she does not answer your questions at all.

I took this class online and if you are a freshman, do not take this class. Getting an A in this class is very hard because she looks for ways for you to lose points. Grading is tough and she doesn't try to help you get a better grade. She would rather give you a D than look for ways to fix your problems.

I went in trying my hardest and I've gotten an A in every other class I took this semester. The reason I didnt do well in this class is because of Conroy's way of teaching. Her instructions are drawn out and confusing. The instructions for the research paper is about 11 pages long and makes no sense. She is a good person but a horrible teacher.

This class is full of papers for an introductory English class for first-time students. There is a bunch of reading in the beginning of class for Essay #2. Essay #3 is a very long 1700 word paper. The teaching style is advanced and there are extensive lectures, directions are very long and not very clearly organized. Dicussions are graded harshly.

She was the WORST. My friend passed away the day before an essay was due and gave no sympathy. All I asked for was an extra DAY. incredibly rude and unresponsive. DO NO TAKE HER.

Her instructions are terrible and very confusing. I even had an English teacher read her feedback and he didnt even understand what she wanted. She has lots of homework and things do during the week but doesnt give you enough time to do them.

Assigned large amounts of homework without enough time to finish them. Her directions were always lengthy, full of mistakes, & confusing. Numerous writing tutors I worked with were unable to make sense of her directions & feedback (which, btw, was never helpful). Whenever I asked for help, she told me to look at directions/syllabus. Incompetent.

Directions are unclear, she is rude in her comments & remarks, offers no grace even though we are completely online, feedback makes no sense what so ever. Hands down the worst teacher I've ever had. As a student-teacher myself, I can confidently say Conroy would be better not teaching. Even with help from the writing tutor center, the tutor wasn't able to make sense of her directions ever and her criteria were so vague, you could never get a perfect score. the class seemed designed against students.

If you are stuck with this teacher this semester, I suggest you drop this course. Don't think you can endure. She is a nightmare. You won't understand her directions, you won't meet her criteria and you will wonder why she is so rude to you all the time. Do yourself a favor and bail on this teacher. literally one of the worst professors i've ever had. not only is her attitude disgusting, her grading system is terrible. she's nit-picky about what she wants from you. her directions are pages long, and half the time, don't even make any sense. when you make a mistake, no matter how big or small, she'll rude about it. it's absolutely ridiculous.

Professor Conroy is one of the worst instructors Ive ever met. Her communication is terrible. She didnt tell us what books to buy until after class has begun so I got my books late. The help links she set up for our exam didnt work and she wouldnt let us retake. She wouldnt respond to my emails until I emailed the dean. Run away now!

Do not take this class with this professor. She is so cruel and somehow is able to yell at you through emails and sentences, even if she taught an online class for me. She demands that you spend 40 hours a week studying for her class, and will pick out boring, dull books for you to read. I started using Rate My Professors after this horrible class.

This professor uses 4+ pages of confusing directions per assignment and makes accusations about the students when they don’t meet her standards. She is a very harsh grader and doesn’t follow the rubric all the time.

Alicia's grading system doesn't make sense. It's more of a percentage of your progress and you have to get a certain percentage to pass. She is a harsh grader and very critical. There is LOTS of work. DON'T TAKE THIS CLASS WITH HER. There are much better College Writing professors.

Lectures are typed and long. The grading is very confusing; I am not sure what my grade is. She uses percentages, and marks assignments as complete or not complete. I had no idea how I was doing in the class until the end of the term when she posted a video explaining how the class is graded. Essay instructions are long and difficult to understand.

If you're looking for an easy entry level college writing course this is not it! The teaching style and rubric was confusing. Lectures were long and the requirements for assignments were vague. Lots of busy work which is difficult if you are taking multiple classes. Due dates only allow you four days to complete assignments. Don't take this class!

Directions for essays are excruciatingly long and make absolutely no sense. She grades insanely strict, and in a weird confusing format. She has an ego. She is bias. She is no help when you have questions. She simply should not have a job. waste of time and money.

Gave me multiple inadequates for thing she said I was doing well at beginning of semester. Then accused me of plagiarizing my essay from and other students essay when I am PSEO and off campus. Asked Professor Conroy for advice and i used it but it didn't help improve how she graded my assignments. All of her assignments are pass/fail, so if you miss a little thing, you fail an assignment. Asked what I could do to ensure I got at least a D and she told me I couldn't do anything. Instead she told me the withdrawl date for the course.

I went to the tutor center for help and asked my normal high school teachers for help who teach the SAME class, and they didn't even know what Conroy's directions meant. DO NOT take this class.

Alicia Conroy's class caused constant stress. Her instructions are unclear, filler assignments don't aid final essays but weigh heavily on grades, and lectures lack direction despite mandatory attendance. Emails feel condescending, and passing requires a B. I stayed due to an academic warning but plan to retake the class with another professor.

I always feel overwhelmed with homework for just this class, and it always felt never-ending. I got burnt out extremely fast, but when I emailed her, she responded extremely blunt and rude. Now I'm almost scared to ask her questions. All her assignments and handwritten texts have errors in it and are extremely long and vague.

For someone who demands perfection in writing for the highest score of an INTRO LEVEL CLASS, her directions are confusing and overly complicated. Seems to care more about proving a point about following the very confusing assignment directions than the success of her students, which is reflected in her harsh grading.

This was the worst professor I have ever had in my entire educational experience. I've graduated from Normandale and am pursuing my PHD now and I REMEMBER this professor. I was so intimidated by them that I waited to GRADUATE in case I ever got her again. I didn't willingly sign up for her class, rather she got assigned to a class awaiting a prof.

I am not sure there is a worse teacher on earth. This college has no business keeping her around. She is beyond awful and will tell you didn't understand the directions and fail you on nearly everything. She also likes to make up false accusations. Conroy is one of those academics who believes being verbose is smart. Messy rubrics, lessons, and assignment descriptions that are redundant with needlessly lofty sentences. They're instructions, not a thesis, Conroy. Furthermore, she told me to complete an assignment would be a “waste of time” when I messed up the dates, pressuring me to quit.

Extremely difficult for an intro level class. I needed to get my PSEO requirements and will most likely fail by the end of the semester. Get ready for a lot of papers, and unreasonable grades. I wish I had looked at these reviews before registering for her class. I regret it.

Please do not take this professors class, I am super upset because Conroy chose to grade everything on the date of November 23rd and basically said I failed No progression points, lack of communication, confusing and frustrating directions, and Conroy is also very rude, and condescending in her emails. This is not an entry level writing course.

It is unfortunate the higher ups at Normandale don't look into the number of students dropping or failing her courses. If you have one of her courses, DROP IT! You will not pass. Ms. Conroy does not teach but seeks to baffle you with BS so you can't possibly complete her assignments correctly. Nothing meets her expectations. I have a 4.0 and I dropped her class after being told I was guilty of academic misconduct. She told me I used AI ( I didn't) yet she offered no explanation as to y she thought this. DROP HER CLASS
