I took the course online, she tells you exactly what she expects, if you do it...you get a good grade...if you dont do it...you get a poor grade...the exams are pretty difficult but you are allowed a cheat sheet (you really need it) if you study you will do well!
DO NOT TAKE HER...she is horrible
She's a very good teacher. She requires participation from the class, so if your classmates are morons...it can get a little annoying. Just show up to class and listen. She tells you everything you need to know...you hardly even need to open the book. If you are not a complete idiot, you should be fine.
Excellent teacher, just do what the syllabus says. What you see is what you get, your grades are up to you!! She is a very reasonable professor.
I've taken all of the psy classes that she offers online. They are fairly easy if you just follow the syllabus. Take advantage of the cheat sheet for the exams!!!!!
she seems kind of rude
do not take her online class...it requires so much time and effort...just take it in school...i spend over 16 hours a week and am barley passing with a C. She didnt seem to help to much either...
She is rude.
She gives you so much extra credit which makes it easier to get an A or B in her class. I did well in the class part but it is way harder online. If you are going to taker don't do it on-line. Otherwise, I liked her.
2 words....Good Luck.
stay away!!!!!!!! She has an attitude, and shes one tough cookie. To break it down for you she sucks!
She knows what she's teaching but the class itself was boring. Her powerpoints don't correspond to what's in the book and she takes her test questions from the book. Not a very helpful teacher either. However, she does give lots of opportunities for extra credit and you can have a 'cheat sheet' for tests but I still wouldn't recommend her.
her test are wicked hard... she allows a cheat sheet but doesnt really help.. but she does give a lot of xtra credit
I took the 6 week online course. It was condensed, so I read a lot on my own and used the online tests provided and got a good grade. She was pretty straightfoward and offered a lot of extra credit, which I took advantage of. I thought it was a reasonable class. Interesting subject matter and convienant to do it from home.
I took her for 201 (in person and 202 (condensed online). She is strict but only because alot of non-majors don't take the course seriously. She makes powerpoints for every class and allows cheat-sheets for tests. She also gives alot of extra-credit. If you are willing to put in some work and take the class seriously, it's an easy A or B.
the WORST teacher you can ever have. very BORING. not understanding at all.doesnt give you any oppertunities to make up for anything. the boring teacher ever in the history of boring teachers. dont ever take her. NOT RECOMMENDED AT ALL.
Yes, she's rather dry but she is to the point and doesn't mess around. She does however engage the classroom in her lessons. READ THE BOOK!!! It will help you. I got high remarks on all assignments but 70s on the exams so understand the material! It's a tough course but enjoyable.
If you are a working adult, do not take the internet version of her course. I made that mistake and had to withdraw. The majority of the extra credit took place at the campus and was an hour away and took place during work hours. As another student stated.. She does not want to hear your explanations or "excuses". Never again!!!
I tried soo.... hard to pass this last exam I thought i did and i was very emotional I read every chapter and did the two different quizzes and still didn't get a good grade my friend told me she was hard, and I had to find out the hard way.
I actually took the online six week course and found that you really have to read every chapter and understand each word if out into a scenerio. If you have a life or taking other online courses I would not recommend her. She does allow a cheat sheet but it does not help on the test. HARD!!!!HARD!!!!!HARD
i took her for the summer session, which was condensed into 6 weeks. it was a lot of work and took a lot of effort to get through the material but in the end i got the 3 credits so it was alright.i enjoyed her class and her teaching of the dendrites, soma, axon, and terminal buds. i still show it to people and im done with her class.
I took her 6 wk online course. Not much homework, but the tests were extremely hard. You could use a cheat sheet which absolutely did not help at all. Do not take this teacher!!! I have never failed a class in my life or even came close to failing a class. I got a D in this class.
I took her online course. Not a whole lot of work and only 3 short assignments, but the tests are hard. You must know every page of the text because she'll ask obscure questions. Very hard to get an A.
She was very easy and i got an A. i barely showed up for classes and i still managed to stay on top of things. a lot of papers to write and cheat sheets for exams. final is an accumulation of all tests so very easy. take her if you want a easy A!
I enjoyed this class very much! Good teaching style, very relaxed and comfortable. Uses PPT's and has opportunity for extra credit. I recommend this teacher!
The class itself was boring. She uses too many ppts and it's hard to keep up with them. She allows you to use cheat sheets for the tests but usually the cheat sheets don't come in handy. You have to read the chapters to do well on the tests.
Hard to get an A though her online class. I found her exams extremely hard even though she allows you to take a cheat sheet.
not good
I took her online class and it was very easy as long as you read the chapters. You can use a cheat sheet on the tests. Just do the work and talk to her about any problems and you will be perfectly fine in her class.
Great professor! Take the time to go to office hours at least once and have a conversation. Dr. Grodsky is very approachable.
she is a graet professor and allows you to thoroughly understand the material at hand. she does not require attendance, but it is helpful since most of her questions can come from lectures. she makes the class more interesting than it would be normally.
she is very hard...not a good teacher at all....dont waste your time!
dont waste your time, shes dreadful!
You have to keep up with material and study a ton outside of class. She expects everyone to act as adults and does not waver from that thought.
She is a great teacher! Her lectures are not based on the book, but on the concepts covered on them. You must read and study the book if you wanna do well on her exams(its not just whats on the key terms)But you can make and use a cheat-sheet.Gives a lot of extra credit opportunities. Not an easy A but if you are a psy major take her! she's amazing!
Don't do it. She seems lovely but the class is really difficult to do well in - even with a cheat sheet and I'm an A student.
Took the online course. Waste of money. Even though I read and studied the chapters I still failed her tests. And I tend to get good grades.
AVOID ONLINE CLASS AT ALL COSTS!! The questions she puts on the tests are extremely obscure, so making a cheat sheet is useless. She thinks her syllabus is crystal clear, but make sure to read the fine print or else you'll wonder why your grade is so low. She herself is terrible, extremely unfair and unhelpful, very stubborn.
Don't do it!! Terribly terrible class. Her online class made me want to rip my hair out! I'm an A student, I studied each chapter and made a cheat sheet...then the day of the test comes and I'm like WTF?!?! The questions are all multiple choice, and are based on opinion! So basically, if you have a different opinion than the prof, you'll fail!
My 6wk class was ONLINE only. No convuluted or distracting lecture. Lectured class may be harder. Class requirements were clear. U can have a cheat sheet for test. Xtra credit available. Assignments are direct so completing was not hard. Tests were a little hard but I never prepped a cheat-sheet (allowed). I would take again; RECOMMENDED!
Her classes are useless. She doesn't cover what's on the tests, has no clue how to teach. Allows for a cheat sheet which is of no help as her multiple choice questions are misleading and hard to answer. I can see how this professor ended up teaching at a community college -- nobody else wanted her.
Took her class online. Very little assignments but exams are really hard. She let's you have a cheat sheet but it doesn't really help.
tests are extremely hard and not based of the text. cheat sheets will not help you, the book wil not either. the writing assignments were great. have no idea how i barely passed. not what i thought it would be or would want to take again. she really isnt all that helpful or give you feedback to get a better grade next time.
Took her class for psyc 202 online. She doesn't give many assignments but her exams are very hard even if you use the cheat sheet she allows.
For Prof. Grodsky's online PSY202 Class!! Psychology in context by stephen M. kosslyn Robin S. Rosenberg, 3rd Edition. Allyn and Bacon(Pearson) with Grade Aid for kosslyn and Rosenberg (work book) Prepared by Marcia J. Mckinley. Brand NEW! AP$150 703-939-5665
I took Dr. Grodsky's class and i loved every minute of it. She is very entertaining and funny at times! Dr. Grodsky has to be one of my favorite teachers of all times! I recommend her class. You will love it and not want to leave!
I took her online class. The good news was there weren't many assignments and it helped fit into my schedule. She also lets you use a cheat sheet for all the tests. The bad news is the cheat sheet won't help you at all! Her tests are hard!!!! I thought I knew the material inside and out and still couldn't get an A. Writing assignments were fab
She's very opinionated and selF serving. She's not willing to discuss mistakes and elaborate on why she grades the way she does...I've taken four online psy classes before hers and she sucks., her exam are not relevant To the material and neither are her papers and extra credit. Just save your gpa...don't taker her class
Alicia Grodski is the Worst teacher I have ever had the displeasure of taking. I took her PSY 270 We had to prove whether this scenario(s) insitues rape.It was like excerpts from erotica novels. She is not understanding/ willing to work w/ students. Tests are not on assigned reading. Questions were not relevant, but opion based. I studied I got a F
She was horrible, grading scale was ridiculous. Not helpful at all. DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS!
Dr. Grodsky is my favorite proffesor of all time. She is so helpful and always makes class enjoyable. I always look forward to attending her class.
She is very difficult to understand and her grading system is hard to understand. She doesn't make herself clear, does not give clear answers to the questions that was asked.
Dr. Grodsy is a great professor! She gives you plenty of extra credit opportunities so definetly do them because it could determine an A or a B for your final grade for her class she gets most of her exam questions from the online quizes and make sure you actually read the book because she gets a lot of questions from there too!
Save your GPA and take a psychology class from a different person.
I do not recommend taking her if you are not interested in Psychology.
shes okay i guess i made an A in her 201 an am now in her 202, she does give a lot of papers but they aren't terribly hard, the only thing i hate are the chapter readings and exam study guide, that alone can take a days to complete, the chapters are very long with too many exam study questions but you have to study!! i slacked on one test, got a D
Dr. Grodsky is one of those professors that you have to be in class for. I had no interest in PSY prior to taking this class, but because of her i am considering this as a minor. She knows what she is talking about. as long as you do you work and study this class is easy. Lots of extra credit and fun material.
She proctors too many online classes for her schedule and is of no help if something goes wrong. She lays the blame with it being an online class written by someone else. My grade was negatively impacted when I tried to correct a group members plagiarism, which she refused to address. Do not take her class if you have any interest in Pyschology.
Absolutely a terrible prof. I have no Idea how she is in class but do not take her online, she grades terribly hard and is no help with your grades at all. What should be a fun class ended up being terrible and made me hate the subject.
BEWARE. I took her online course and fully regret it. This was my 4th psych course, the 2nd at nova. Her test are hard. Cheat sheet or not it won't help. A third of the questions are application based while the others are hard to find in text and are obscure and irrelevant. If you do great on assignments/essays AND extra credit you can get a B.
I'm not sure why other A-students had trouble. I took the time to fill out and thoroughly review the study guide (and used the chapter review flash cards) and got 100% on all exams. There are several essays, so students who are not proficient writers will likely have difficulty. The grading is fair but expects a true college level of scholarship.
I agree with the review from 3/7/2014. She's not an easy grader by any means, but if you are truly an college-level A student (proficient writer and willing to put in the time to study for exams) you'll do fine. I got an A in the class. The entire course is based on the textbook; you'll spend a lot of time reading and filling out the study guide.
Its college. This is what you should expect. I found her to be a great teacher. Very helpful and very informative. Do readings before class and you will find yourself enjoying the lecture MUCH more. Study, do your homework, she gives you a cheat sheet for your exams! You have to apply yourself in College. We're not in High school anymore. Take her
She was a great teacher and I thought everything was easy, she didn't have many assignments, I didn't like that she didn't accept late grades and that she wasn't more specific on what we should really focus on when it came to the test, she allows 1 full page front and back for a cheat sheet on the test.
She ruined my enthusiasm for psychology. Killed it dead.
I wish I listened to the warnings, I definitely don't encourage anyone to take her online classes. If you want to keep your GPA in good terms DON'T TAKE HER CLASS. She gives good feedback and answers e-mails, but the rest I wish you will not experience. It is hard to get full credit even for the extra-credits :(. Find a better teacher.
To do well, complete exam review guides. Expects great detail for assignmentsessays. Requires posting feedback to other students posts. Horrible group project: point value too high, people don't participate, slackers not held accountable. Result is a bad project grade even if you are an A student. You'll do extra credit to make up the difference.
Shes a great teacher. If you want to actually work hard and have a real college experience take her!!! You will learn so much.
She is the reason i love pysch. If you want to work hard take her!
Its a real college class. She challenges us and makes us want to learn more. One of the best prof. i've had at nvcc
I'm an A student and I do not understand why it was hard to get full credit on her assignments. She is a great teacher and i love psychology but I didn't like it while taking her class.
She's great as professor. She is interested in having you learn the material and encourages to study A LOT! She gives a lot of extra credit because the class is very intense. She breaks down testing into 1-2 chapters which is great because each chapter is so complex. She makes her lectures interesting with lots of examples!!!
NOT AN EASY CLASS!!!! You actually have to study, takes notes and attend class to get an A. Allows cheat sheet, but if you don't know the material very well it won't be very helpful. Must study for exams weeks prior if you want a good grade. DO NOT RECOMMEND.
Gives a lot of extra credit. I got a 70 on the 2nd exam and got a 4 on an assignment but still passed the class with over 100%. Just do all of the extra credit and homework and there is no way you'll fail. Make sure to turn the assignment in on time. Use the website and the study guide book to help with exams. Allows cheat sheet so take advantage.
Dr. Grodsky is one of the best teachers I have ever had. I am so thankful to have taken her class. I wish more teachers could be as well spoken and intelligent as Dr. Grodsky.
This class was sincerely interesting and thought provoking. I would recommend taking this class if you are actually interested and engaged in the material.
If you need this class just to fill a requirement do not take it with her. This was by far my hardest college class so far, but it was my favorite because of what I am taking away from the class. Dr Grodsky will turn you into an overall better student, not just in psychology. Utilize her test study guides. There was one group project and 3 tests
I loved taking Dr. Grodsky's class. It was very fascinating and rewarding to learn so much information from such a wise professor. Would definitely recommend taking at least one of her classes whether it is online or in class.
She gives a ton of extra credit!!! Take advantage of it and you will pass with flying colors!!
I took the online course and she was decent. Make sure to read. Me and my classmates (you do a group project with them) agreed that she doesn't elaborate enough as to what she wants on her assignments and grades based off of a rubric that she doesn't even post up for you to see so it's difficult to know what to write. The course however wasn't hard
Professor Grodsky was a good professor. The tests were honesty the chapter summaries and she allowed one cheat sheet for my class. She had slideshows and good lectures I had one group project with 10 people which became a challenge but in the end most everyone received an A. Would take again as long as you put in work you will get an a :) nice too.
Professor Grodsky is alright. Her lectures were long but she did offer extra credit but on a site that you had to pay for. She also isn't very clear on what she is looking for in written assignments and isn't very organized. She lost one of my hw assignments & a written assignments & still deducted my grade for being "late" ...
Dr. Grossly is a genuine profesor that really cares about the well being of her students. As long as you do the work and attend class, it's an easy A. Would definitely take her class again.
Literally one of the best professors ever. She's so smart and makes her lectures really interesting. Take her if you have the chance. You won't regret it!!
Probably the nicest professor one can have! Class is very relaxing and feels very engaging for a lecture style class, but at the same time you also learn a great amount of Psychology. Also extremely inspiring and a really good professor.
Dr. Grodsky is a remarkable professor who possess a wealth of experience and knowledge. Best of all are her stories which relate and connect real life applications. Many of the classroom activities keep the pace and learning atmosphere always entertaining and educational. I highly recommend this class because the work load is fair and manageable.
She is a very tough professor. Does not elaborate on what she expects from you, and also is a tough grader. i did exactly what she asked me on my assignments but they were never good enough for her.
Worst professor I have ever worked wit. Self serving. Slow to respond. Disrespectful. I sent her an email 3 days before an exam with a question about the study guide and she responded 2 days after the exam. 5 days to respond. Students aren't held to that standard. I have more specific reasons for my rating with evidence to support my case, Waste!!
She wasn't a very organized person to me. I learned everything I needed to know from the textbook. She also constantly refers to a "key terms sheet" that doesn't have the majority of the terms she refers to during her lectures. It really sucks because I had high expectation for this class.
She was the most ridiculous, unprofessional professor I have ever come across. Completely disrespectful in terms of tone when I asked her about being graded on something never specified on the rubric. Her tests are a bigger joke than she is. I warn every psych major I meet to stay far away from her.
Put in the work for the class and you will do fine. Dr. Grodsky is a great professor. Anyone who says differently just didn't put in enough work or effort.
I always got a sense that Dr. Grodsky genuinely cared about her students lives and all the things that involve being a college student. She really makes an extra effort to make herself available outside of the classroom and ensure that all students needs are met.
People should be waiting in line to take this class. Being able to go to a class with someone who knows and cares about the material so much is a blessing. Dr. Grodsky is funny, knowledgeable, and willing to help students. You must take her class before leaving NOVA.
dr. grodsky was actually one of the best profesors i've ever had. she's so smart, cool and really interesting. take her!
Honestly, just put in the work, read the textbook and you'll get an A. Dr. Grodsky prepares you to do well in her class, you just have to do your part and do the work.
Dr. Grodsky gives so much extra credit and also leaves really useful comments on assignments. If you do the work and read the chapters you will enjoy this class and learn a lot from Dr. Grodsky.
honestly, dr. grodsky made a class i was dreading to take, one of my favorite classes ever. So glad I enrolled in her section, learned a lot and am actually passionate about this material now.
Online 8 week PSY201: Her feedback was very vague, making it difficult to know how to improve your work. Dedicate about 12 hrs/wk to this course. I completed everything on time, with much effort and ended up with a C. Seems like a good Prof, but just needs to improve communication with students to HELP them improve and perform better in the course.
Very friendly and quick to reply on emails. 2 exams, 3 chances for extra credit for a total of 30 points. If you are borderline on a B or A, ask to bump your grade up and she will do it! 1 group project with peer reviews that will go into individual grades. Even if your group did bad you can still get a good grade depending on how much you did.
Professor Grodsky is truly one of the best professors that I've ever had. She makes the material so fun and interesting and always explains it so well. I always leave the class with a full understanding of what's going on, and the tests are very easy. Further, Professor Grodsky is the person who has made me want to pursue a career in psychology.
Her teaching was fine and her lectures were informative; however, her lectures were dry and kind of boring. If you don't like participating in class don't take this class. We finished the material early so for the last few weeks, classes were 5 minutes long and then she left. Luckily, she offers lots of extra credit so it's not hard to earn an A.
She is a dumb grader, you could literally do everything she asked for in an assignment in detail and still get a horrible grade. I've never met a teacher who grades like her. Other than that the assignments are pretty straight forward not hard but again she's an annoying grader. So take her as your own risk.
Dr. Grodsky is one of my favorite professors at NOVA. You write 2 short papers and only take 3 exams throughout the semester which you can have a cheat sheet for, there are plenty of opportunities to gain extra credit, and she clearly states what you should be reading and what to know for next class. She's really nice as long as you do what's asked
DO NOT TAKE HER ONLINE CLASS!She is awful gives no useful feedback and grades harsher than I have ever seen. She's not willing to work with your schedule at all. I highly DO NOT recommend taking her class unless you have no other choice. She didn't post grades until after the drop date. There's just no reason for 3-6 writing assignments every week.
I honestly would not recommend this professor for online class. It was a nightmare. She is VERY VERY VERY tough grader, will not give you a lot of instructions, and not friendly at all. PLEASE if you are taking this class with any another class, DON'T take this professor, trust me. It will be hell. I really like psychology but she made me hate it.
Her online class is really not that bad. You just have to answer the prompt in detail. I would basically just summarize what I read in the chapters. That's another thing, read the chapters that she assigns and take notes on them. If you don't put in effort, of course the class is going to seem like a pain. But just do what she asks & you'll be okay
Dr. Grodsky is a TOUGH grader. Go above and beyond her guidelines for the assignments and you'll be fine. Do ALL the extra credit, because her exams are hard, and you will need it. Don't be afraid to email her any and all questions. She responds very quickly, and answers questions completely. She is tough, but I thought she was fair.
Dr. Grodsky is the best professor I've ever had. I really enjoyed this class a lot.
she a TOUGH Grader and is not so forgiving, her test are really hard and she's not really helpful. I hated the class overall. If you do not test well DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS.
She gives great examples and makes the class really interesting. Taking this class and having her as my professor, I really enjoyed it.
At first, I loved this class! I had high hopes, but unfortunately I was let down. Her exams are hard, despite studying and reading over the material. She lets you use a cheat sheet on tests, but that usually does not help. She is a tough grader and I have never come across someone who grades like this.
The only reason why I got an A due to the fact I have taken a class similar to this and her extra credit. Her test are horrible and dont make sense. Sure you can use a cheatsheet but her test are so confusing that their useless. I told her my concerns about her exam and she said "well theres a right answer"... just dont take her.
So much extra credit, the launchpad is extra credit and saved my grade. Good lectures, not mandatory. Slight attitude at times, but I didnt have to speak to her one on one much so not too bad. Lots of discussion groups
I love this professor, so I decided to take her again. She doesn't make lectures boring and she puts up the PowerPoints up. She gives A LOTTT of extra credit even lets you have a cheat sheet for tests. However, her tests are hard but if you know the material completely you should be good. Be prepared to read to get the grade you want.
if you care ab your sanity, NEVER take a class with Dr. Grodsky! the lectures are boring, on top of that, most of what she lectures about will NOT appear on her tests. you are better off reading the textbook. she only grades you off a few tests & essays, so it's hard to recover from a bad grade. don't stress yourself out, pick a different prof
So much extra credit! There are two papers which are less than a page each, and 3 exams. The tests are tough, but you are allowed a cheat sheet. Honestly use Quizlet to study and for your cheat sheet. It has almost the exact same questions as on the exams. Pro tip: do not put your head on the desk unless you want her right up in your face.
I took prof Grodsky online psy 230. She does post all of the chapter info online. She DOES NOT accept any late assignments you will get a zero. One group project and 3 81 questions exams with an essay at the end. My exams were used with Lock down browser and no cheat sheets can be used. overall she makes you work for your great no cut cards.
Absolutely no late work and she says it's the "school's decision." Rude and inflexible. Extremely tough grader. She won't give you 100% ever. Prepare for a class more focused on Anatomy than anything else. She does not do cheat sheats like other reviews mentioned and the LearningCurve assignments are 50 questions worth only 5 points. Horrible class
She is a tough grader and I thought a lot of her grading was pretty unfair. I took her online course and a lot of the questions on the tests would be things that were insanely specific so even when I would read the textbook it was a small detail that would be tough to remember exactly.
An easy A. An amazing professor. If you had a hard time in this class its probably just you.
Dr. Grodsky is an extremely hard grader. You better hope you have strong english writing skills or you will be docked for incorrect spelling or grammar. In addition expect none of the material from LearningCurve to be applied on the tests. Absolutely no late credit is available. Her responses to emails are inappropriately condescending as well.
The assignments are not too bad, it is 2 papers less than a paper each and 4 discussion boards. Her test were heavy, and unnecessarily helpful. No cheat sheet, you have to know every detail of the textbook in order to pass. Her test make no sense. I would not take her again.
she was a very tough grader and wasn't much help when I asked for it
I love Dr. Grodsky!! She was so inspirational and very open minded!! We had lots of group discussions so make sure you're speaking up. Dr. Grodsky holds no judgement or assumptions for her students, but you won't get anywhere if you sit in silence. Pro tip: call her Doctor Grodsky (she always appreciated that.) 10/10 would recommend her to anyone
Offers ton of extra credit. Do it you'll need it. I suggest you do not take her. Her exams heavy and don't make sense.
This is only my second semester at nova but prof. Godsky definitely is one of my favorite teachers, she always tries to get students interested in lectures with her stories and is very understanding when you reach out. Some of the homework can get tough if you don't have enough information however it's overall fair grading.def take her class :))
She provides study guides for your tests ... yet the actual test looks nothing like it. Obscure questions that you would only know if you memorized the book line by line. Answers so similar that it's impossible to distinguish which is correct. Also refuses to give full credit even when her notes give you fabulous praise she doesn't give out A's
I believe Grodksy thinks she is a professional grader. It was an entry level class, but she treats even discussion board posts like research papers. It is not that she is unfair, but even in the context of a 7-week online course, she is keen on punishing students for their mistakes via their grade. Any assignment turned in late is a zero, dont take
She grades very harshly, even on discussion boards. The course load itself isnt bad, but be prepared to do lot's of extra studying for tests. Also the "extra credit" isn't applied the way is says it is in the syllabus.
Dr. Grodsky is a great professor. The classes are super interesting and she pushes you to be a better student
Graded a bit too harshly for an intro/elective course. An A is possible though it made assignments exhaustive and disappointing. It was not too bad that I regret the course, though, I felt I had to put more effort into writing here than in ENG courses. And even then, nothing was ever perfect. Not the worst, not my favorite. There is extra credit
Prof. Grodsky's psychology class is rough. For this to be entry-level psychology, she expects the students to know way too much information, practically everything from each chapter (even minor details) to make a decent grade in this course. I do not recommend this professor for PSY 200.
unprofessional behavior, including a rude demeanor and hostile email communication, created a negative learning environment. It appeared that grading was unfairly biased, deviating from academic merit. Her conduct, especially as a psychology professor, opposes ethical teaching principles. Students, avoid her courses for GPA protection.
This teacher goes off of textbook and PowerPoints but at the end of the day none of it relates to the test since the test is mostly life experiences questions. When you ask for help onto studying, she says use index cards to study but it never really helps.
Dr. Grodsky is a fantastic professor. Her lectures are very engaging. She provides clear grading requirements and posts her PowerPoint slides on Canvas. Study all the information she gives you, put in the time and effort, and you will do great. Dr. Grodsky is genuinely an expert in her field.
If you're looking for an easy A, don't take this professor. Getting an A is doable, but will require a lot of work. She was a tough grader and on some things, took off points for very small things. Follow instructions to a tee. Study guides were given for exams and did a good job laying out what to study. She allows extra credit: definitely do it.
Tons of homework, strict grading, no late work accepted.
This professor was the worst I've had. Harsh grading, unclear instructions, and nitpicking over minor mistakes made the course unbearable. My initial excitement for psychology turned into anxiety and frustration. Her overly critical feedback stifles learning, making it impossible to enjoy or recommend her class. Avoid if you can.
This professor grades harshly on opinion-based assignments and prefers her own perspective. Even with participation, you're often told you're wrong. Tests are on paper. I wouldn't take her again because I have a different point of view on some topics, and my grades reflected not what I thought but what she wanted to hear, leading to a C in the end.
This professor gave me a -2/20 on an observation assignment just because I wrote the age range of the kids wrong. she has an 80 questions test + an essay answering 2 questions, and only gave me 2 hours to take. there is 3 big exams. she is very bad at giving clear instructions. the powerpoint, assignments do not link with exams at all. very strict.
Dr. Grodsky is nice, but a tough grader. I don't understand why a whole essay is only 20 points, and when we have discussions our initial post is only 5 points, responding is 5 point, and a 300-500 reflection is 10 points which sums up to 20 points. This it soo much work for such a minimum points (PS I took a 7 week course so that could be why)
PLEASE for the sake of your stress management and anxiety DO NOT take her class. She gives full on essays that are only worth 20 points, and long study guides that aren't related to the proctored test, and 3 part discussions where u write 3 paragraphs for only 5 points. I tell nothing but the truth, no one should suffer the way I am.
Dr. Grodsky's class is challenging but rewarding. While she has high expectations, engaging with the material and using study aids like Unstuck study can help you succeed. The workload is manageable if you stay on top of it.
I really do not recommend her Monday, 8AM lectures. Her course was extremely textbook heavy, and you're expected to know every detail on her 50-question(s), multiple choice, scan-tron exams. She derives some content from her PowerPoints, but I think she talks about her children a bit too much during lectures so it felt less like a psych course.
Dr. Grodsky made Developmental Psychology very enjoyable! She encouraged success by giving ample extra credit work. Her course consists of 3 exams and homework. If you apply yourself and study the material she has provided, you will succeed. PowerPoints clearly reflect the exam questions. Dr. Grodsky's excitement for psychology is refreshing.
If you care about your GPA, avoid this class! Professor Grodsky is an extremely harsh grader who nitpicks tiny details and seems to go out of her way to make the course harder. She is not approachable and does not show much concern for her students. Even if you put in the effort, you'll likely end up frustrated!
This Lady such a TOUGH GRADER is impossible to get a better grade she hates her students. Never take her she will make your life miserable.
Brutal grading that will wreck your GPA and mental health. She tried to give a a zero for my extra credit over a technicality! She will get you for discussions even when you followed all the instructions. I reported her to the Dean because she was so harsh. I've never disliked a professor so much before.
This class was really challenging i am not sure whether it was because it's an online class or, the Lecturer is after your marks, she will do anything or look for any details to deduct marks from you while grading. For the exam make sure you memorize the whole book. GOOD LUCK IF YOU CHOOSE HER.
Terrible at explaining anything and isn't clear about the syllabus. Not many did well in her class and isn't understanding of other obligations despite communication. I got into a car accident and was concussed and clearly not in the space to be taking exams, she did not care! Doesn't give study materials for tests, her powerpoints dont help either
I graduated NOVA and transitioned to a 4 year college and want to credit Dr. Grodsky for fully preparing me for my post-NOVA academic journey. Dr. Grodsky has high standards and challenges us to meet them. She is really helpful and caring about students and leaves you feeling empowered after every class.
Took away points for a missing video on exam I had no control over. Willing to change grade if asked. None of the book questions are on the exams and study guide had too much information to be useful. We had 2-7 learning curves + a discussion or essay due all in one day every week. Offers 3 chances for extra credit. Tougher grader, not the worst.
She is not very clear with instructions, and her wording can be very ambiguous in both the rubrics and the grading criteria. If you don't do the assignment exactly the way she wants, then you get points off, even if it wasn't explicitly stated in her instructions or rubric. This has happened multiple times and is really frustrating as a student.
Professor Grodsky has unrealistic expectations and finds anything to take points off of. I did what I could, but she's insufferable. If you want to maintain a decent GPA or just have a lot going on, don't take her class. Anyone who has received a good grade is just naturally smart and I'm not lol.
Everything was fine except for the discussion/writing assignments she's a bit picky on these assignments, but overall exams and homework assignments chill. If you're not a good writer don't pick this class but overall was satisfied with the class.
Teacher suggested flash cards to help study. Why are the due dates not on the actual assignments, awful study-guides some subjects are not on the final test for some reason. multiple trick question. Test aren't easy AT ALL. Grading is not forgiving. Writing portions of test that are graded never explained decently, your left without good feedback.
Prof. Grodsky is very passionate about teaching. If you are going for psychology as a profesion she is a good teacher for you. If you are like me who is taking this course for the sake of completing my elective do yourself a favor, search for another prof. She is very picky when it comes to grading. Her exams are difficult. made me re think college
Very tough grader and exams were the most difficult. Exams had many trick questions for example one of the answers choices were between extraversion and extroversion…. overall though the assignments where interesting just dont expect anything you learned to be on those tests as the questions where worded so wierdly.
Her exams are incredibly challenging, and she spends most of her class discussing her real-life experiences, which are irrelevant to learning.
