Overall Alicia was a good lecturer. She wasn't bad, but she wasn't particularly good. I found the class pretty hard because homework is assigned weekly and it's a pretty big part of your grade. It covers a lot of material that isn't addressed in lecture. Exams and homework are graded VERY harshly and points are taken away on super small details.

Clear criteria. Never went to class. Just watched Gunderson online. So don't stress if you can't get Gunderson when registering. Lab is mandatory tho and you just need to show up to get those points. You do have to put in work for hW and exams but there's plenty of office hours and resources for all the students. Pretty easy A

Romero is awesome! Imo the best 250 professor. The course has definitely changed though and is no longer a blowoff. The HW's can be tricky, MWrite is dumb, and our E1 avg grade was a 53/75 compared to 69/75 last year (NO curve). This class was still very very easy (just not a joke) if you put in just a little bit of time.

Romero is super kind and has a lot of enthusiasm to bring to lectures. I think the material can feel a little rushed and sometimes her way of explaining things weren't the easiest to understand. Watching the online lectures from the other professor helps supplement. I would recommend the active approach, and either way the course curve is generous.

Romero is clearly a nice person and likes the subject, but her lectures are just not good. You'll have a way easier time watching Keane's lectures.

Prof. Romero is an okay teacher. Her lectures are a little confusing, and she doesn't really explain things she just talks at you. Take Keane if you can. The class feels more like I'm being told a lot of things and not taught anything. Pretty good curve in the class.

Honestly, my rating is more about Stats 250 than Romero because I don't know the other stats professors. The class is just confusing and difficult for no reason. Homework is long, tests are difficult, and grades aren't curved. My best advice is go to office hours (!!!!!!!!!!), do the work, and pray to whoever/whatever you believe in.

After failing two of the exams I learned that Romero is the worst STATS professor bc she is horrible at explaining- started watching the other professor's lecture recordings and I'm doing so much better now Also I'm supposed to get extended deadlines for accommodations and she outright said she won't offer them (which i found out was not okay)

While she is very kind, Romero simply doesn't explain any content. It feels like she is telling you information, rather than teaching. The curve is nice, but everything feels super confusing. Take the other professor if you can.

romero is really sweet; not the greatest lecturer, but it doesn't matter as long as u clarify any questions with ur gsi. make sure to practice, UNDERSTAND the concepts behind everything, and memorize the format of any writing that u have to do. its a pretty easy course once you do those things.

She is a decent professor, I think Keane is better at explaining but his lectures are posted on Canvas. She is very nice and funny, even changing one of the lectures to have all the answers and questions have "67" in it when she found out about the joke.

I don't understand the Romero hate. She is a great lecturer, even though the content can be dull. She is very nice and engaging and always willing to help and answer questions. Office hours are completely done with GSIs, though, but they are still very helpful and knowledgeable! I would definitely not skip out on Romero for stats.

I heard horror stories about this class before taking it, but I thought Dr. Romero was great and she explained most concepts very well. If you lock in on the hw and case studies, clarify hard concepts with GSIs at office hrs, you will be fine. The exams were difficult at times but they reflected the concepts from the assignments.

never really got the chance to speak 1-on-1 with her since the class was so big, but the structure of her class was easy to follow. the homework assignments were really helpful, and if you chose the active approach you got a chance to do a mini-assignment at the end of each lecture, which I personally found very helpful

Romero is lowkey overhated. She did make a few conceptual mistakes when teaching lectures, but expressed most things clearly. You can decide if you want attendance, pre-lecture, and post-lecture work to count toward your grade. There are not a lot of study materials provided for the exams (you get 1 practice exam and a concept problem set).

OVERHATED!!! She's a decent professor. If fast teaching is not your style, take Keane, but you also have access to both lectures. I recommend meeting with Romero 1-on-1 during her office hours because it's so helpful!! If you're not a good test taker, pleasee do active. Also, make sure to attend GSI office hours for HW help or anything :)

She was extremely nice, however, her teaching style was very unorganized and would often skip slides and pages in the notes. The exams were very difficult imo and I studied quite a bit. The case studies were very tedious and graded very harsh, same with the written portions on the exams. Had to take this as a prerec and it was a struggle.

While lectures were sometimes unclear and exams could be tricky, if you do the active approach for lecture and lab and do the extra credit opportunities you should be okay. I would still recommend taking Keane if you have the option though. If I was confused about a topic I would watch his lecture and I felt he explained topics more clearly.

This was my first time taking a Stats class in my entire life, and honestly, the content itself was easy to grasp, but she assumes everyone in the room has prior knowledge. After a few weeks, she toned it down and slowed to a much more manageable pace. She is very approachable, though, and going to office hours is SUPER helpful!
