This is the most uninspired, boring, and passive agressive teacher ever. As if chemistry isn't hard enough, this arrogant teacher answers all questions by saying "we already went over this". He was granted tenure before his first semester even started.
He is not bad; there is worse. Not a very enthusiastic teacher. Very into formalities. Really grades your material. Doesn't really help much. Explains clearly. Notes are great. It is a difficult course, and he doesn't make it easier. Its ok to take him.
other than his abuseful relationship with the word 'essentially', he's a great teacher. very clear and very through. if you can stay awake during his lecture, you will easily earn a B atleast.
He's ok
He's a great teacher. He explains all concepts very clearly and efficiently
He doesn't explain anything. He expects you to already know it and if you have questions he addresses you like a four year old. Stay away from him.
His lectures are very clear. It's easy to take notes in his class because he writes everything on the board. Very eager to help students. Take his class.
Although he doesn't like us to come late, doesn't like us to talk in the class, he is a good teacher
He's a good teacher. Clear, on-time, well-organized, and fair on grading. Lectures might be boring but they help you prepare for tests/final.
He gave good lecture,no need to read the book, you will have almost 87-90% for test and Exam, but you have to pay attention in his lecture, he wrote all stuff on the board, gave a lot examples to help you understand the concepts, if you want to learn and pass this class, take him. He is nice also
His lecture is okay...you dont have to read the book cuz you will understand the concepts by taking notes...and his tests are pretty easy if you prepare well..i suggest he is the professor you are going to try.
This teacher is awful persian man. He doesnt know how to teach and all he learned in school is the word essentially.
Taking 8A for a 6 weeks was NOT easy, but Mr. Ansari made it a little more tolerable. Lectures was clear and taken straight from the book. Critics may disagree, but he was a good O-Chem teacher.
Patient. The pace of his lecture can be quick because if no one asks anything he would assume that everyone read and understood the chapters. I suggest if you don't understand, ask and if you're shy, come to his office hours. He goes out of his way (even uses humorous analogies) to explain the concept to you. Meticulous with lab. Fair on grading.
Most diligent of all. A decent human being & responsible instructor. Covers everything on the syllabus (thus the pace of lectures) and helps with questions all he can during office hrs. It was winter & he'd put off lunch until after 3PM to answer questions during break & stayed in the computer lab after class when he could have left us to the tutor
He is one of the best professors i've ever had...very clear, organized, fair on grading, and lecture is easy to understand. I learned a lot in this class. I definitely recommend him.
clear on lecture. you can get 100% without reading the text. He puts good notes on the board and gives lots of example to help you understand the materials.Grading is fair.
Great chem teacher. Clearly explains all concepts with numerous examples. Benevolent and approachable. Highly recommended.
Best Chem teacher I hace ever encountered. If you cannot pass his class...I hate to break it to you...you are slow and should stay away from chemistry. Fair in all exams, provides enough examples, clearly explians concepts. Register for his class now!!!
Best teacher for Chem that there could be. He does not mind answering questions, his explanations are detailed and helpful and he is not afraid to explain things more than once. The best chem teacher around, TAKE him.
good teacher. listen to his lecture and you will do fine.. the book helps but his test are primarily on his lecture.. horrible jokes "i wanted to see who was paying attention" easy going, seems to really not care about anyone, doesnt bother to learn names but who cares i got an A!
The previous description of him not seeming " to care about anyone" is a little harsh. His clear teaching method, & patient manner prove otherwise. The fact that he takes the time to explain things in a clear & concise manner proves beyond a doubt that he very much cares about his students grasp of the subject.
He is one of the best in PCC...
Awesome guy. He will go out of his way to explain the material to you so that you will clearly understand it. He speaks clearly in class, and his quizzes and tests are bassed on his lectures. You barely even refer back to the book to study for tests. Very good guy, descent, take him if you want to learn something or if you are a chem major.
He is a good professor, good at lecturing. His quizes are very easy and all of them are based on his lecture, i dont even need to read the book, then i got an A in every tests. But his joke is kind of lame,ie: "i wanted to see if you guys are paying attention." All in all, he is a good teacher. If you want to learn and pass, take him !!!
His lectures are very clear. He goes over everything. His exams and quizzes are hard. But if you pay attention during lectures you probably don't need to read the book.
He is really your choice.
His lectures are good. His quizzes and exams are a little difficult. He grades hard but you'll learn in his class.
he is awesome! i think other students have pretty much covered everything there is to know about his class (and how good a job he does in teaching them). but i just wanted to say that, before taking his class, i had no interest in chem whatsoever. but he's given me so much knowledge and now i'm totally inlove with chem.
excellent teacher, his quiz and exam are easy. if you attend lecture and study the notes and do hw, you'll have no problem getting an A.
chemistry is never the subject that would interests me but mr.a dose make it better. review the notes that you take in lecture and you will definitely do good on quizes and tests. he doesn't bother to remember the names but tries to be funny by telling some jokes during lectures. doesn't take attendance at all.
Ansari is a great professor, very clear, and extremely helpful. He seems very serious, but smiles once in a while. I liked the class, it was a good experience.
I was really nervous about taking Chem over the summer but after six weeks, I actually missed his class. Wonderful professor, very detailed lectures. He actually makes time for his students during 6 wk sessions even though profs normally don't have office hrs. I don't think you can get a better chem teacher.
love this teacher, i hated chem before i took this class, but he made everything ez. if u study his notes and attent lecture, u'll be fine. he does look serious, but tells the lamest jokes ever. but overall a great teacher. i missed a quiz and he was letting me to make it up in his evening class. very kind!!
Mr.A is the best chem professor ever!! very helpful~his lecture is so clear and make chem become really easy to understand...I actually looked forward to go to his class...wonderful experience...you can't get any better than MR.A!!!
His lecture is clear, quizzes and exams are easy, everything taken from his notes. He makes chem much more easier to learn. Getting an A in his class, highly recommended!
VERY GOOD TEACHER
Great teacher, the only thing hard about Chem 1A is the third test, do well on that and you get an A.
Mr. Ansari is a really GOOD teacher. His lecture notes are very organised and he made the class material much more easy to understand. His quizzes and exams are easy, this is a pretty relaxing class.
Not sure why he's so popular. He does know Chem, but man, he turned me off. His lectures are good, but halfway through the sum semester, he taught AGGRESSIVELY fast. He didn't hide the fact that he was annoyed by certain students. A good prof does not scold a student for asking questions. Doesn't feel very approachable. I was scared of him.
doesn't have much of a personality. i agree, he doesn't hide it when he's annoyed with you. his lectures are clear and he does his best to answer your questions, even if he's annoyed with you. i was afraid it'd be over my head and too fast (summer course) but he tried to keep you on pace with all the homework and comp. quizzes.
Doesn't have a personality, but he knows so much about chem, always helpful i love this guy hes so smart its kinda sexy...but overall great guy would recomend him for sure, if u want to learn something this is the guy to take...
His lectures are clear but his quizzes and exams are very hard. I had to drop the class. Don't take this class unless you have a lot of free time for studying.
Look it doesnt matter what chem professor you take, any chem class will be difficult and will require you to study. Ansari is a cool guy he is clear in lectures and his tets and quizes aren't the nicest but as I said chem is hard. But overall very helpful guy, nice personality...take him =)
Taken both chem 22 and 1a with him. To anyone who complain his quiz/test are hard, you definitely need to reconsider changing your major to something non-chemistry related. You won't find a more helpful and easy professor than Ansari. Even though his voice is monotoned, but he gives clear lectures and detailed notes and are patient with the student
Chem 22 and 1A are both easy, chem 1B is a lit more challenging. too bad he doesnt take chem 1B... for anyone who complain chem is hard, go take phy, u will know what is really hard (not phy 10, but phy 1A and so on)... Ansari is the best, dont complain
Best chem teacher in PCC!
He is really really nice. The first time I saw him, I felt he was a little bit serious, but after I took his class in the future, I found he is soooooo nice. It looks very handsome when he smile. ^_^.His lecture is very good. All in all, I like professor Ansari very very much.
I must say, this class was quite enjoyable. The material is reasonably easy, so long as one puts forth the effort to read the book and do the homework. As far as Ansari goes, I think he teaches the subject very well. I wouldn't mind taking future chemistry courses with him. And of course it didn't hurt any that I found him rather good-looking.
I extremely like Professor Ansari. he is a very nice and helpul person. He is a little serious on the first class, day by day, we found he really really nice.He lectures are very good and professional. He gives all the knonlege in the class notes. you just reivew them before the test, then you will be get a good great.Take his class again is my dream
Hes a good teacher and is very smart but its hard not paying attention in his class due to his monotone voice. i took his class over winter, if you plan to do this plan on being miserable
Easy!
His lectures are good. But you need to study hard. After all it is chemistry.
Ansari is a great professor. His lectures cover everything you will need to know for the tests. Take good notes and pay attention and you'll do just fine.
Ansari is the most helpful chemistry teacher at PCC. My friends didn't take him and they suffered with other professors. Lectures are very clear and to the point. Pay attention and take notes in class, you will do fine. He is a very knowledgable and intelligent professor and knows his stuff. I learned a lot from him. Definitely recommend!!
Prof Ansari is a great teacher, but really hard tests. A lot of the midterms were conceptual questions rather than actual mathematical ones that you could calculate. It really tested my understanding of the material. I got a B in the class but I still learned a lot more from Ansari than any other chem prof I've ever had.
If you are interested in chemistry, and are good at it, do NOT consider this professor. He moves at the pace of an ant, repeating himself 8,000 times per lecture--he doesn't even keep up with the pace of the other professors teaching the same class. For someone who enjoys chem, I was shocked at how bored I could be in a chem class.
I like his teaching style.. i learned most of stuff by going to his lecture and did all of his previous tests and that gets you to start what types of question he expect u to know. fairly amazing professor. Highly Recommended anyone who want to take Ansari's class!
Exceptional teacher... Had him for Gen Chem 22 and 1A and he made the classes about as easy as they could be, but you still walk away with a hefty amount of knowledge. His lectures are fantastic, and if there's anything about the class you'd like to change, he's open to feedback and actually MAKES changes if what you ask is reasonable.
This is the first teacher that i met that really wants to help the students learn. Ansari offers study sessions and i highly recommend that you attend if you have any questions because he will explain it untill you understand. the tests were pretty straight forward, and the important part is that u need to completely understand all concepts. Get A!
Not a bad professor but can be easy. He does a lot of demonstrations that can help to visualize some of the concepts but does expect students to have a certain understanding of the material prior to coming to the lecture. However, if you get confused go to his office hours. Seriously, it helps!Get B, a mistly A.
Great Professor, explains everything very well to the point where you don't even need the book. As long as you take good notes and do the online quizes you should be prepared for the exams.
Nice teacher, love his personality. Teaches well, but can be boring, person below me said he cracked some jokes...not really he/she must have been on shrooms. Any who, easiest chem teacher around, chem is a hard subject no matter who you take it with. He's very helpfull and willing to help anyone that shows to his office. Very nice professor though
awesome teacher. he never smiles but he is knowlegdable. notes are very clear and understanding. grading is really flexible. 84 is an A. i recommend him for chem 22
His lectures are good, direct to the point. He is very nice always eager to answer questionns but whoever says his exams and quizs are easy is out of his mind. His quizs are tricky and hard. I studied my butt off and got a c.
great man with a passion for chemistry, but not as good of a teacher. always teaches by examples, not through the fundamental concepts of the material. exams are difficult but manageable. the class+lab involve a crazy load of work but in the end most people get recognized for their hard work by getting an A of some sort. a class worth taking.
He just says his exams/quizes are easy to make us feel better but I compared the to other teachers and they are actually harder. Only one person got an A in our class.
Actually cares about the students. He tries to help you with other classes and gives you advice and makes damn sure your getting what he's saying. One of the few excellent teachers. However, I thought he was great, he was able to make the subject, which I find boring, and make it entertaining and interesting.
Hes easy.......
HE IS REALLY A GOOD TEACHER WITH PATIENT, AND HE EXPLAIN EVERYTHING DETAILY, IF YOU THINK HE IS HARD OR HIS LECTURES IS UNCLEARLY, please CHANGE YOU MAJOR NOW!!!
Very interesting teacher. He goes out of his way to make concepts clear for you. Subject matter is interesting. Get on his goodside and we will give you benefit of the doubt in the end. I had an 88 for a final grade and got an A in the class. All around nice guy. Don't use your cellphone and you won't be made "special"
lectures are clear for the most part unless he's behind schedule, then he rushes on key concepts. his tests are tricky as he has little nuances. the time constraints were hard to deal with..
You pronounce it carbon not caaaarbon. Does that make sense? IS everybody with me? If you take this guy's class, those two questions will ring in your head throughout every lecture. I mean he is more interested in stating those questions than.
This might be Ansari's first time in teaching Organ-chem. Well, there are only one person got A in the first midterm and there still have lots of C's and D's in my class. Not an easy class.
He is a great teacher. I HATE chem but he explained it in a way that I could understand. The tests aren't anything surprising - not super easy, not super hard, all material he went over. I can see why he kind of comes off as a jerk but he really seems like he wants the students to do well.
His lectures are kinda boring. he takes attendance in the first two weeks, afterwards you may choose to skip lectures. But lab is a must.Quizzes are tricky but exams are easy with 2 or 3 tricky questions.if you do the assigned problems and understand all the lectures, getting an A should not be a problem. take him for chem 1A, easiest prof around.
He is ok. Not that hard not that easy.
The 3rd exam and the final are the hardest in 1a. Get over those and you'll do fine. Ansari is vey helpful in answering questions but his quizzes are a little hard. I studied a lot and got a b. 1a is a hard class and pcc chem department doesn't make it any easier.
not bad
this guy likes some students and dislikes others. he stared me down alot cuz jus of my appereance he thought i was a duma$$. B4 final he said i am low b, i take final get b and grade is c.. i ch eck up on it, 20 pts disapeared from my grade... DONT TAKE THIS GUY!!!
he is awesome!everything is on your note, quiz are essay.he is cute.lecture is conphrehensive.very good prof.
I never take any other chem classes, so I can not compare him with other teacher. I think Mr. Ansari is a responsible and fair professor. You will learn what you need know for test. Lecture is clear and logical. Highly recommend.
test and quizzes are base on lectures, notes , homework, and lab reports... he doesn't trick you on anything.. straight forward.. easy B... but must work just a little hard for an A.
Take him! forget about other professors... this is the easiest ochem prof you can get.
HE IS OK, NOT THAT HOT AND GOOD AS MANY PEOPLES SAY.
I am going to get a B, however, i do not regret taking his class...he is really a good prof. ochem is hard course. he likes to answer question....and very helpful...he is hot!!!!!!^^
Easy going professor, take him if you can!
he is easy, but i dont think he is very helpful maybe cuz this is his 2nd time teaching org chem.sometimes he doesn't really make sense.quiz are easy, but he doesnt cover all stuff on exams since we use same exams.anyway, ur choice.by the way,i think he is hot though, the friend below me,hahaha
he is not easy, gives pop quizzes without notice. I thought his exams were hard, especially the 3rd one. Have to keep up with lec all the time. His lecs were ok, answers all questions, very helpful during office hours.
I took chem 22 during winter and had to drop. He seemed very hard. Must be on time to the lab or he won't let you do it even if you're only 5 min late.
My favorite chem teacher of all time. (and I've had a lot of chem teachers)- AP and honors chem. Took him for review, but felt like I was really learning the material this time. I love this teacher! Anyone willing to learn should take him, in my opinion, easy A, but you be the judge. HIGHLY recommended!!!
Lectures are good. covers everything.he is good at answering questions. His quizzes and exams were hard, the second exam cleared our class. Someimes he is a picky grader. Overall he is ok
HARD HARD HARD HARD HARD. i do not recommend him for 1a. he was good for 22 but 1a he is a different man let me tell you. i got a B and considered my self VERY LUCKY. id wait for another professor.
very difficult exams. dont let the quiz's and his nice look fool you. he just looks nice on the outside. he makes things so much harder than necessary. you have no idea what to study for the exams.
i dont know if he is going through a phase or something b/c his method of teaching this semester has been really weird and different like hes trying out somthing new but IT IS NOT WORKING at all. unclear lectures and hardest exams ive ever seen.
although prof Ansari may be good looking he's very conceited, aloof and unhelpful. Gives easy quizzes and hard tests and he doesn't expose you to certain stuff. don't take him unless you have a strong basis in chem or have plenty of time to study, otherwise you'll end up teaching yorself and feel like a kid in front of him.
I disagree, he is not aloof at all. he goes out of his way to answer questions. His lectures were clear. He write everything on the board and uses powerpoint. However His exams were very, very, very hard much harder than 1a but he is trying to prepare us for the next level.I recommend him to people who are chem majors and want to learn.
AWFUL. that is all i am going to say. okay and unreasonable and most difficult.
I had a great experience with this teacher. Half of my class wouldn't study until 10 min b4 quizzes and tests and would complain about how hard they were. All types of problems given on tests were worked out in class. He will answer any questions during class. Do the homework and you will get an A unless your chemically retarded
dont underestimate mr ansari. he once gave our class a exam that 2 people handed in blank and walked out of the class and dropped. the highest grade was 84% ...
I am premed and I liked him. He gives extremely difficult tests but his lect are very good. He does not give easy A that's for sure.
mr ansari is a jerk. how does you being premed have to do with anything. its irrelevant. plus, WHO ISNT.
cmon guys what r u talking about?this is the best teacher for chem.he helps u until u understand the material.if u pay attention in lecture u will understand everything.he is a very nice guy and if u dont think so then u havent taken anybody else yet.take him hes the bestt!!!
the only people who think he is easy are the ones in his afternoon class who take there exams after the morning class and find out exactly whats on it. Yeah, obviously its easy when you know exactlys what on the test and have a extra 4 hours to study for it. try taking the test honestly and see how you do.
I have completed all Chem 1A/B, 8A/B in PCC. Comparing to two other high rated teachers, he is the only teacher who is ALWAYS trying to help you with ANY question you have and that's what I like him most. His lecture is fine and his tests are not difficult. (I got 100% on one of them, total 3).
yes, he is hard, but as long as you study the materials he gave you, you will do fine in his class. DID NOT study a lot, but I still got A.
His classes lack energy and enthusiasm. I'm guessing its probably because he teaches it ever so often. His lectures are probably confusing because he just doesn't care anymore.
honestly its not that he doesnt care or hes not enthusiastic, he was prlly the same way on the his 1st day of work. i think thats jst his personality. try not 2take it personally. overall hes pretty good &a little less hardcore then some of the others meaning EASIER. &incase you guys havnt figured it out by now evry girl loves him. making him COCKY
I took him during the winter intersession, so it was a bit of a challenge, but Ansari is a very great and reasonable professor. If you pay attention and study, you will get an A with no problem.
honestly, I took him because I thought he was gonna be easy but his quizzes and exams were more difficult than my other chem 1a professor so I ended up dropping the class. To be fair he gives good lectures with a lot of lec notes and homework but who has time to study all of that. Take him only if you're really into chemistry.
Good lectures, very detailed no need to read the book. answers all questions. Extremely hard quizzes and exams. I am studying my bud off and only getting a B.
WTH he is so hard. who said he is easy. he is not easy. maybe for chem 22. but chem 22 is easy not HIM. never taking him again he just gets harder.
Ansari is a hard professor. His test and quizes are very very hard. He is good at teaching, His lectures are good. He is always available to help out in office and will ansewer your questions. Yes he is very monotone and may look like if he doesnt care but that just his personality i guess..... i would recommend anyone to take him
I agree, he is very good but extremely hard.
i just took him for winter. i agree that he is very monotone. but his lectures are clear and if you take down notes, you really dont need to look at the book. i messed up on the third test.. but if i didn't i wouldve gotten an A.. you can get an A as long as youre willing to study.. which goes for every class
everyone is right that he is monotone but other than that he is cool professor. yea his test and quizes are kinda hard but hey its chemistry. i really enjoyed his his lectures and the lab and he is willing to help out on anything. i would recommend for anybody to take him for any chem.
he is so cute~~~~~~~and not hard at all
He always look above and emotionless. He is hard to close and keep the students away from his office by his aloof voice. He hardly smile in class and there is 2 jokes for the whole semester. Boring but easy!!! Recommend for those who dont want to pay attention in class
His lectures are very detailed. No need to read the book. I don't think he is aloof at all. when you ask him a question he expalin things over and over again til you get it.his exams and quizes are a little hard. specially the second exam. Chem 1b is much harder than 1a but he teaches it really well. highly recommended
Extremely hard!!!
this class is hard thats all i have to say. especially his test. omg the third exam is a nightmare. to be fair he his lectures are really good and he is willing to help out, but many dont approach him cuz everyone seems to be scared or intimidated by his personality ahahaha but he is a nice man. goodluck taking him.
good prof. hey guys I'm getting 84.6 in his class, do you think he he is going to give an A?
the best chem teacher ever. he is very clear, you dont need to buy book. you love his class, if you love chem. if you say he boring will chem is boring. but he makes it lovely with his smiles. he is willing to help u until you totally understand it. his guizz and test are from his lecture so just write down everything and lesten to him
extremely hard. not that helpful, because he tries to push u to be self proficient meaning figure it out on your own,and here I thought this class was for beginning chemist not freak-in rocket scientist that how hard he is. he explains stuff clear but makes simple concepts complicated don't know why tho. only got talked down to twice. which is good
He always be patient to explain every question no matter how stupid the question is, class is not easy for sure, u got to check the study guide word by word and study hard . I didn;t finish the final exam.He give us 50 questions in 2 hours.I didn;t notice the time running out..so be aware of time.so sad..I am so close to A.
I don't understand why people like him so much. Yes, he's easy and the class is also easy. However, I didn't feel like I have learned anything from him. His Lecture is super boring. I love chem so much but I skip a lot of lectures cuz I would rather study by myself than copy the stupid notes in the class. Sweimeh is the best but she doesnt teach 1B
I don't know what the other guy is talking about. chem ib is the hardest class i have taken at pcc and that includes math 5b. Ansari's exams didn't make it any easier. I worked my butt off and pulled a b. Ansari's letures are actually pretty good. They are clear concise and direct to the point.
Pretty boring prof but the class was easy.
I don't know why no one here has mentioned how HOT this guy is...he just makes you want to learn Chemistry and attend all the lecture meetings. Other than that, he's a very smart prof, he's a bit monotone, but he lectures direct and concise. He cares so much about his students. Go to his office hours for extra help..you get the grade you deserve.
CHEM 1B is a hard class, but he made it more doable than other professors. His class is just easy enough to keep you going, but still need to work hard to get a nice grade. He is won't try to trick you or anything. Lecture is a little bit boring, but once a while he will make a joke and everyone will laugh. Nice guy, ask him anything you dont know
Took all general chem with him and he is not hard at all, only 10% of material from the book and the rest from notes throughout every tests, u only need 86% for an A, so pay more attention on lecture and notes! but if u plan to take ochem when u transfer, u better study the last part of 1B on ur own, he is not going to talk much about it(of coz! it's gen chem only) grade is fair, but for higher education prep, I don't think I have a solid knowledge base even thought I got all A from him.
For chemistry, you need to pick the professor that explains concepts the best. Every class does the same curiculum. Ansari's lectures are straight to the point and his quizzes are based off them rather than the book. I do recommend tho that you buy the text and a solutions manual for the exams. Cool teacher, he really does care about his students
Just took him for Chem1A. Great instructor. No personality, but he's a great lecturer. Achievable A, just work he'd and visit his office hours. I'm taking him for 1B in the spring (;
He seems to get annoyed when guys ask him too many questions. He's more patient with girls though. Aside from that, he is clear in lecture and willing to help. I wish he would make his lecture sessions funny though, because he hardly ever cracks a joke.
He is so chill!!!! But his lecture is very clear and helpful. His tests are not hard at all just based on his lecture. I don't think you even need to buy the book. Take him, you won't regret! Got an A! :)
he is a great teacher for those who don't have a good background in chemistry and like straight forward tests. if you are worried about not passing or are taking chemistry for the second time, he is probably the way to go for you. if you care about chemistry, maybe take another professor. sincerely, from someone who's taken chem 22-8b at pcc.
An incredibly intelligent and patient professor. I took his 1A class in summer (brutal, but I got an A) and liked his style so much I took his 1B class. He is pretty dry but not boring. His quizzes and tests are very challenging and you feel accomplished to have received a good grade. We developed a good relationship and he wrote an LOR for me.
Chem 1b is BRUTAL. Especially in the summer it goes way to fast, it is impossible to catch up. A lot of these comments are about his normal period, in the summer it is 10 times harder. I go to a UC school and even I struggled tremendously and I did very well in chem a. I did not enjoy this class at all.
This class is hard! You must dedicate at least 3 hours a day to this class! If you dont have a good chem 1 a background chem 1 b will destroy you! A lot of people in this class have taken it for the third time which I find extremely unfair and somewhat intimidating. I constantly needed help which was not provided
Taking this class in summer meant I had to work twice as hard as in a regular semester, but his lecture and expectations were crystal clear that if you pay attention and have a strong foundation from chem 1A you can at least get a B. Ansari is extremely punctual, intelligent, and is willing to help if you have questions. I'm happy with my A.
Smart guy, but he seemed to have this arrogance about him as if he was doing us a favor showing up to lecture. His lectures were so boring and he would occasionally (try) to crack a joke...which was never funny but everyone would laugh like crazy due to excess boredom.
Proff. Ansari is one of the best teachers at PCC. You can ask any student in his class . He is more on the difficult side but his exams cover only what he has discussed; no surprises. It is clear that he does not like answering questions that are not well thought out. He is not lazy and writes everything out; no death by powerpoint.
I feel I am so lucky to take three classes with him.He seems strict and chill at first, but he is very nice in person. He is very clear and fair. I argued about the points on the quizzes and exams, and he added them all! I learned a lot from him, and thanks to his letter of recommendation---got into UC Berkeley!!
Take general chem with him! His lectures are clear and mandatory to do well on quizzes & tests (which make up the bulk of your grade). His exam probs test your ability to solve problems & your understanding of the chemistry behind them. Come to lecture/quizzes prepared (by reading the book & going over past lecture notes) and you will do well.
The best chem prof at PCC. Very clear; does not ramble or give you more information than you need. He is capable of answering all questions. He is not easy but not very hard either. The best chooce for Chem 1A for MCAT/DAT preparation
He can explain the concepts pretty well, but he act's like his above everyone, is very arrogant, and his grading style is difficult.
Easily one of the top 2 chemistry teachers in the school; you can ask his students; no surprises; will test you on what he teaches; grades very fairly; class is very organized; but he is not easy & not difficult either; you get what you put into the class
Seems like he hates his job. He has a very monotone voice which makes you fall asleep during his lectures. As hard as i tried to stay awake and listen I did not get anything at alll from what he lectured on. If you copy down everything he writes on the whiteboard, then you will get good notes, but listening to this guy is impossible.
Dont ever take him during summer!!! He is good but the course is really hard!! You re gonna end up dropping!!
Great teacher, hard class. He is very knowledgeable and gives great notes. Not the easiest teacher but if you want to take a class to learn/understand for MCAT, he is key.
Great professor! Strict but kind. I got As on both 1A and 1B. If you work hard, you ll do great. He is very helpful during office hours. He give good notes but still need extra practice and readings especially for chem 1B.
He is very clear and methodical in his lectures. It is important to understand that Chemistry involves attention to detail and Professor Ansari's grading scheme reflects this. Ask questions in lecture to understand the concepts and you'll do great in the class. There are plenty of study guides and assignments to help as well.
One of the fairest science professors I've ever had. Tests are an accurate representation of what you learned in the class, and he is so helpful with office hours and lecture. No other chem prof. in the department compares. Although the only complaint I have is that he sort of makes you feel stupid if you ask a question that he thinks is dumb.
If you come to college to "learn", take him. And, you won't regret it because he will cover all the basics of chemistry in depth enough for you to feel ready for the advanced level courses.
The best chemistry teacher at PCC by far. Clear grader; tests only on what is taught. Always there to help; super nice. This is the class everyone tries to register for first.
He's a tough teacher. If you're a chemistry wiz, he's right for you. He is helpful especially to those who already understand, but otherwise you're in for a long semester. Plus he is smug. You can't be sensitive or you'll get embarrassed by him.
Hard class.
Although the material in Chem 1B is considered difficult for many students, taking Ansari wouldn't make your life any easier. His lectures are stale and his tone can be described as monotonous at best. He's strict when it comes to his grading policy and doesn't empathize with students when there's a clear struggle to understand certain concepts.
Ansari is 2x harder than Huber. I took both profs before and Huber gives a LOT of partial credit for problems!!! Ansari will indirectly INSULT you if you are asking questions. His exams and quizzes are not actually the same as his notes and you must study EXTRA. Huber's quizzes and exams are exactly what she lectures on.
His voice is super monotone, but he has a fear of public speaking, so give him a pass. Fairly clear lectures, the subject itself is hard so be ready to study some significant hours. Brush up on your Chem 22 material before this class, he hates Chem 22 questions. Other than that, he's willing to help and has office hours for one on one questions
He explains concepts clearly and patiently. If you have questions, you can always go to his office hours and ask for help. Study before the quizzes and the exam, then you will do well. Final is easier than the exams. Take him! I learnt a lot in his class!! Awesome teacher! (one small thing to say is his analogies sometimes do not make much sense).
I am a 3.81 GPA student at PCC, and I listened to the reviews on him... They said he was the "better" Chemistry professor. I took him, and I can honestly say he was the most difficult and unsympathizing professor I've ever had. He actually does NOT care about you, and he won't EVER grade in your favor... It's his way... or the highway.
Scared of public speaking
-Gives NO feedback -Gives HARD tests -Wastes YOUR time during lectures -Half the class is asleep during lectures -Monotone, boring -Ansari seems bored the entire time -Cannot draw, but refuses to use powerpoints or pictures -Does not give you your current grade on canvas. Makes you add up your scores together to determine current grade.
V patient and nice. Some ppl like Huber cox her test is v similar to notes. A's quizzes are easy if you study notes. Tests are harder but doable. Have no idea how that 3.81 student got his gpa if A is difficult to him, maybe he aint belong to the science world. PCC offers quality chem class and A is just easiest among all. Scary only at beginning.
His class is solid and PURE chemistry. There are no jokes, no stories, no visual aids during the class. ONLY CHEMISTRY! Strict but lenient of partial credit. Exam and quizzes are kind of hard but will be fine if pay attention during the lectures. And dont take his afternoon class, bc his tone will make you super sleepy. Hope you can stay awake.
At the beginning of each chapter he provides study guides that suggest hw probs. Hw is not mandatory. Labs are alright but beware the lab reports. Don't make too many mistakes. Tests and quizzes are challenging. He does have a monotone voice so sometimes it was hard to stay focused. Often jokes when he makes mistakes. "I was just testing you!"
One of the best chemistry prof I have ever taken. Challenging class but worth it. Survival Skills: 1. Do all of the homework(even though he won't collect it) 2. Understand the lecture in order do do well in tests(memorizing won't work) 3. Go to office hour if you have any questions(He will try his best to explain you until you get it).GoodLuck
First time take Chem class and I am so fortune to get into his class. He is easy as long as you redo the lecture questions and you will be good. Boring lecture but feel I learn a lot. No need textbook because you can just do the sample he gives out, and the exam are in the same format, same difficulty level. He is really good and take his class!
The only thing I have to say after finishing both Anzari's Chem 1A&1B classes is that his classes are NOT easy, but in fact, require yourself a decent time to put into studying the materials he has covered in class as well as some other concepts that you may find necessary for yourself in order to ace his classes. (as well as improving your Chem)
He is really good at teaching. Very organize and clear in the lecture. Tells you what you should know for the exam. Although he is monotone and boring, stay awake and write down the note. Very generous with partial credits and I have never seen a professor gives partial credit on MC questions! He will make you well prepare for Ochem class!
Ansari is the best. i have had three different chemistry teachers and there is no comparison. Ansari makes it so you dont need to open the book once and you can still get an A as long as you write down everything he puts on the board and study 30 min a day. (The material is tough regardless.) if Ansari didnt cut it for you, change your major.
Very social, but quiet voice in lecture so sit in front. makes lots of jokes. makes it simple for students
Pretty good professor. His lectures are very good and very indepth with the material. Grades kind of hard. Lectures are so long and boring though. Overall, a good professor and I would take him again for 1B.
The best chemistry professor at PCC. His lectures are very straight forward and crystal clear. He makes sure you understand chemistry conceptually and then mathematically. You must study his notes very well to do good on quizzes and exams. Book isn't really needed if you write down everything he writes on the board. He's just a chemistry wizard.
Amazing Chemistry teacher.. his lectures are clear, thorough, and very helpful. The class is not an easy A, but that's what makes it such a good class. My knowledge of Chemistry grew so much because of this professor. Plus, he is such a sweetheart! Would highly recommend to STEM majors
Professor Ansari was as good of a Chemistry professor as you'll get. General Chemistry is a very difficult subject, regardless of the instructor, but Professor Ansari really dedicates himself to helping each of his students succeed. He is extremely helpful and willing to answer any question one might have. ***His notes are amazing***. Take him!
Honestly his class is tough but the he really makes you learn something rather than memorize it. His lectures are very clear, gives A LOT of sample questions that are almost the same on the test. He makes lectures very interesting and occasionally cracks dad jokes. GO to the SI chemistry tutoring sessions its helpful plus extra credit!!!
Solid professor. All I needed were his notes from class, barely had to look at the book. Teaches the concept so it can be applied in different situations. Good natured, makes jokes, and I thought he was very approachable. Would definitely take him again.
Great professor, his class is very hard to get. Lecture pretty much explains everything textbook wasn't really necessary. Tests are not very challenging but you need to review notes, assignments and do sample tests. His handwriting is a bit too small and he is very quiet so make sure you get front row seat.
The class it's hard as many people drop within weeks, but professor Ansari is willing to help you understand well chem. Tough grader on sig figs. Great lectures and humor. He wants you to understand Chem not memorize it. Definitely recommended for STEM majors. Tests are based on his notes and a bit challenging. He's kinda hot, too. Lol.
Professor Ansari is great Professor! His lectures and notes make it easier to review and prepare for quizzes and exams. Very accessible for questions, very helpful and he cares that you understand the content rather than getting a good grade. Me
Ansari's lectures are really clear although a littleboring. The tests are quite difficult, but nothing is unexpected. Just make sure to study the notes and lecture and these will be the most helpful. Final was quite a bit easier than expected. He grades quite harshly on labs and worksheets so make sure to pay attention to details. Would recommend.
Amazing lectures. He really cares about his students and he's hilarious!! The lectures may be a little dull but as long as you take notes and study, you'll do great. He's a little scary looking because he has this natural glare but he's really an excellent professor. 10/10
He is the best general chemistry professor that you can have. Crystal clear lectures. You don't need a text book. Go to SI session and review all the notes. The final is the easiest test. Work hard and you can get an A
Pros - Tests are pretty much straightforward from lectures. - He accepts waitlist Cons - His class is a bit boring (in my opinion). - His voice is extremely soft. - He is quite tough grader but not really. Like he deducted points easily for study assignments but for quiz, if you get the working correct despite minor mistake, he gave you full point
People often say Ansari is boring but I find it the opposite because he's probably the best chemistry professor I've ever had. Definitely go to SI tutoring and his office hours if you don't understand something. With that said, this course itself is really difficult, but if you try there's no reason to not pass.
Hes a great professor !!! Take him if you can! You wont regret it .
Honestly I felt like he was too disorganized and didn't emphasize important aspects of the material. His writing is far too sloppy to read and he just isn't structured. Lots of youtube to supplement his lectures. He's fine to take, just don't expect him to prepare you for the tests.. learn the material yourself. Also not avail outside office hours.
Usually quiet during lectures and sloppy writing which made the lectures pretty dull. Just copy the notes from the board, study it, and do the Study Guide questions and you should be able to do very well on the quizzes and exams. HW is graded. One time, he blamed the entire class for a low-class average, which lost my respect for him.
Well... I have no idea Why People like him so much but I think thats not true for all students . To be honest, his class is tough. In his class, doing homework , assignments and lab reports is not enough. you need to spend your all days and nights for chemistry.
His notes are pretty good but his handwriting is really sloppy. Make sure to take notes in class. Also, try to sit in the front so that you can actually read his notes. Lecture is not engaging at all as it is mostly he writing notes and reading them. However, quizzes and exams are super easy. Overall, its a boring, easy A class.
His class is boring but you can tell he is doing his job. Honestly, his class is not easy for me, but you should know that classes in universities are much more harder. Don't give up and keep trying. I have border line grade this semester, and I almost give up, but if I didn't work hard for final, I won't get my 4.0.
Get ready to put the notes paper on the walls of the room and house . Study Chemistry all day . You will get A .
Took during winter intersession. Copy every single lecture note he writes on the board, including sample problems; all quiz/exam questions come from his lecture notes & sample exams in back of lab manual. Never had to open the textbook! No ex credit given, strict grader, will give partial credit on short answers if on the right track. Easy final.
His lectures are gold!! he is extremely organized and is willing to help you during lab or office hours. Labs and assignments are fairly graded. One of the best professors I have taken!
Mediocre professor. He does like 1.5hours of lecture then 40 min break then 30 min lecture, 30 min break and 2 hour lab. He tends to cover the topics very lightly without much examples. However, gives partial credits on free response questions on quizzes and exams. He doesn't post grades on canvas and doesn't show your total % which was frustrating
Ansari is a trough grader but he is the BEST chemistry professor @ PCC. I had to take 1B twice before passing but my best advice is GO TO CLASS! and practice his "examples" he writes on the board because they are very similar to his test questions. He is really nice, ask for help if you don't understand a concept. Pay attention at beginning of lab!
His lectures are really amazing. He went through every single topic clearly and thoroughly. Study hard on quizzes and exams, as some of them are pretty hard. He grades more on process, meaning that he gives good amount of partial credits. He also gives good instructions for lab at the beginning. Pay attention to it and you will save a lot of time.
Prof. Ansari is truly an amazing professor. His lectures are full of examples. Tests and Quizzes are hard and sometimes tricky, but doable. You really, really, have to study for this class. To get a safe A, you not only have to understand how to do the problems, but you need to know the concepts as well. However he teaches the concepts very well.
He is a decent professor except when it comes to exams. He has two types of tests: one for morning lab and one for afternoon. However, these two exams have a massive gap of difficulty leading one class to have much more challenging exam. Exam is literally half of your grade and I think this is a huge minus factor for this professor.
this man just does not understand that not every person is born to do Chemistry , and he just makes it harder than it is he graduated from UCLA which is probably the reason that he thinks everyone should be competitive but he just has to understand we are at CC level and not everyone is intending to major in CHEM !!! DO NIT TAKE HIM YOU WILL FAIL
as stem student I did not find this professor useful neither helpful and I would def not recommend him
He's pretty serious when he says that you should study 6-8 hours a day, since I took his course over the summer. Read the book to solidify concepts tested in his MC portion and drill practice problems for both his MC and free response. His class is definitely manageable if you take chemistry seriously. Sit in the front if you want to hear him.
I love this man and Im pretty sure every (serious) STEM major will tell you the same. His lectures ARE gold, he IS quite a boring lecturer due to his monotonous voice (he DOES have a glare and generally does not makes eye contact because of his fear of public speaking), his quizzes/tests ARE straight from his lectures, and he IS the best!
He is fine, he is definitely not great. He does not care about students so much, he has his own way and he is willing to help you out and does not encourage students to succeed. He only tells you that exams will be so hard that half of you fail. he did not give us 2 minutes extra for final. The final exam for 1 B will really hard.
this is the rest of the top comment. So he did not give us any extra time and there are couple sections in 1B that wont have any quiz and exams and will be on final 100%, there will couple question on that. If you have A dont think you A for final, so study hard for final.
one of the worst professors of Chem at PCC . Boring lectures , he gives you attitude if you ask for help outside of class , not willing to help students succeed , takes points off in a crazy way and just avoid him by all costs
If you want clarity you should take Ansari. His lectures are excellent. I agree with the others in that his exams and quizzes are difficult but they are mostly based on his lectures. Doing homework is a must but he does not give you credit for it which i didn't like.
he is one of the hardest professors , he makes general chem hard for no reason . Sloppy handwriting , and boring lectures . he does not clarify the material enough . Does not accommodate with students . He simply does not care if his class average is too low . There are Many other better professors at PCC save yourself the effort go with other one
I had professor Ansari for two courses and I can tell you that he is just average , he is not as great as other professors and not as bad as some people wrote . He just has boring lectures and a tender voice that will put you to sleep.I Tests are hard and he does not care about class average being low. He is clear on lab but grades based on PE%
I took Ansari over the summer. His lectures were very clear and he writes everything on the board so it was easy to take notes in his class. He uses lots of examples during lecture which i liked. His final exam is very hard so manage to have a good cushion going to the final.
I had mr. Ansari for chem 1a. I am not good at chemistry but he teaches the material very well. i wnet to his office every other week and he was always nice and answered all my questions. His quizzes are hard so make sure you study for them and go to office hours. Most of the grade was based on exams/quizzes and he gives no extra credit.
One of the hardest class i have ever taken. He gives hard exams and quizzes and doesn't curve them. No extra credit. Some of us just want to get through you know.
He is one of the worst chem professors at PCC. Make sure to study everyday for at least 3-4 hours for this class. Exams are hard and grading criteria is cruel cuz exams makes up the most of your grade. Grades percent error harshly for labs. You have to be good at chem to do well in his class average people won't do it. Take another professor.
I don't know what you guys are talking about, Ansari is the best. His lecture full of examples and he gives very clear explanations quizzes are a little difficult. I feel that I am actually learning chem Not recommended if you just want to get through but i am premed and love his class . much better than my 22
Professor Ansari is an amazing teacher. His lectures are excellent full of examples and he really cares about his students. His quizzes are a little difficult. Not recommended if you just want to get thru but i am premed and love his class much better than my 22
Ansari is an amazing chem professor. His lectures can be sometimes boring due to his voice but at the same time can be hilarious. He grades labs based on percent error and gives partial credit on both exam and quizzes. Chem in general is difficult so prepare to study ALOT of hours on your own time. He also writes his own final instead of the ACS.
avoid him by all costs , I am naturally good in science and felt his class was a disaster. his explanation is sooo simple compared to the hard exams. Does not explain labs clearly . He has an annoyingly low voice so you have to sit front row to hear him, and he is a hard grader. He does not care for his students at all
I took his summer class in 2007 (yes you read that right) and thought it was great. Clear and challenging and because of that you really learn tht material.
CHEM1B Summer 2020. (3) Exams, (5) Quizzes. Final exam is comprehensive. WATCH HIS LECTURES. His examples are his test/quiz questions. While his tests and quizzes are tough, you'll be very well prepared for his final. Gives plenty of partial credit/cares for his students--showed me grace by accepting a lab late due to a software issue. A solid guy.
very tough assignment and quizzes, his lecture are not very helpful for the exam. Also his speaking very fast, many lectures per week, skip the class.
I don't know what these reviews are talking about. Online teaching may be hard but so is learning from online. Doesn't seem to understand and still grades harshly. Does not teach, does not give partial, when he does, it's literally 1 point lol. Find a better professor. may be different if it's in person teaching but online is a big No
Make sure you watch all the lecture videos and understand his examples. Zoom time is only spent answering questions. He will help you via email and gives detailed explanations. He grades participation! No excessive homework, 86% or higher is an A. A good choice for self-motivated students. The class is hard yet Mr. Ansari wants to see you succeed!
Took in Spring 21. Loved the class. Ask him questions-he knows what he's talking about. It's not supposed to be an easy class so don't blame him for your grade if you don't try. WATCH HIS LECTURES & participate in zoom. Exams & grading are fair. Offers EC, A is 86% and up. Put effort into labs and use lecture & textbook examples to study for tests.
He is willing to help if you put in the effort & ask for help but there is a limit. Test & quizzes are exactly the same to what he covers in lecture! Labs instructions are a bit complicated. Watch his lecture videos & go over the extra work he provides w/ answer keys and you will do fine. Took him in Spring 2022.
avoid! he doesn't give much homework, he grades labs with a few points, his exams and test are the majority of your grade. His lectures don't help and he talks so fast when giving the lectures it gets soooo confusing.
If you want clarity you should take Ansari. His lectures are very good. His exams are mostly based on his examples. He is a tough grader though. Overall this class was hard but doable.
Chemistry is hard in itself but Professor Ansari tries to make it as easy to understand as possible. Very fast grader but the class is very repetitive and boring.
Best Chemistry Professor at PCC. Take him if you can. His lectures are clear and quizzes were based on his lectures. His exams can be difficult, so be prepared to put in the effort.
The best thing about his class is that the sample exams look very similar to the actual exams. I found his lectures pretty boring, but his class is a relatively easy one to get through because an 86% is an A. Although, I had a couple friends drop because they weren't great at algebra, so make sure you know your basic algebra beforehand!
He records his own lectures and tells students that they are "supplements." Personally, I never bothered to show up to class because his recorded lectures were actually pretty similar to what he teaches in person. Exams and quizzes are worth a lot, while the labs aren't worth anything. One formal lab report, and he picks your lab partner for you.
Took him during summer. He is very good at explaining things and makes jokes during class I liked his analogies. He teaches you Chem 1A and 1B at the same time. His exams are on the difficult side but doable and he is a picky grader.
Summer 2023: Uploads lectures ahead of time, clear + concise teaching style & criterions. Accessible through email. Tests + quizzes are mostly on his in-class examples MC+FRQ. Final is NOT from ACS. Definitely put in the time and effort because his class is HARD, but well worth it bc it prepared me for 8A. Lots of optional HW problems/sample exams.
This was my final course at PCC, and it proved to be rewarding. The professor delivered excellent lectures, offered practice questions, and guided us through lab work. He presented the content in an easily understandable and engaging manner, making the learning experience both enjoyable and enriching. Take him, and you will never regret it. ~Rami
Great professor, straight-to-the-point, and there to help. Quizzes / exams are fair and are mostly from in-class examples. Make sure to review notes consistently soon after class
Professor Ansari's Class at first may seem intimidating, however he goes through the material with lots of efficiency and leaves time for students to do practice questions during Lab Lecture right before an exam. Articulate grader on Lab Reports and Exams. Very easy going and easy to talk to. One of the best Chem Professors to do it.
He knows the material but if a student's question is beyond the scope of the class, he probably won't answer it ("you'll learn it in 1A or 1B"). The assignments and labs don't weigh much on your grade, the exams and final matter the most. He grades quickly but sometimes makes mistakes so check the key!
One of the best professors to take chemistry with, especially if you're new to the subject! He greatly prepares you for Chem 1A, and his lectures are straightforward and helpful for exams. His teaching style is fantastic and he is always ready to answer any questions that you may have. The course itself is pretty test-heavy, so take time to study.
The material overall is a bit rigorous but he explains well and goes more into detail if you ask him to explain again. Your grades and heavily based on the exams and the labs. Honestly, as long as you do the work and try to study for at least one hour a night you should be able to pass.
Great professor! Very knowledgeable and always answers questions, especially before tests/quizzes. We had 7 quizzes, 3 exams, and a final. Quizzes are heavily weighted, and exams are similar to both quizzes and practice tests. He's funny, and his lectures are posted online, making studying easier. Would 100% retake this class. Highly recommend.
Lecture heavy, tests and quizzes are a majority of your grade. Gives partial credit on test questions. There are experiments but they are only worth 4 points each. Most assignments are turned in physically, and he is a fast grader.
Best chem prof! He will scare you saying you need to study 8 hours after lecture. Sounds scary at first but does it to prepare you. Chem 1b is not easy but very rewarding once understanding it conceptually. Make sure to copy all examples and redo them until you can do without any confusion. Examples, quizzes and sample exams are similar to Exams.
I can easily say that Prof. Ansari is the best chem teacher I've taken so far. His lectures are easy to follow, he's very engaging, and something I found super helpful was that he lectures before labs which makes them easier to do later on. He provides practice tests that the actual tests are modeled after and extra practice problems/worksheets.
Prof. Ansari can seem a bit intimidating at first but he's honestly pretty chill. His class is straightforward, although he can get nitpicky with grading. Everything is turned in on paper, and he grades very quickly. You can get more partial credit on questions if you can argue your case. Good lectures and helpful at office hours. Worth taking!
If you want to take Chem 022 with Ansari, I recommend taking it over the Fall or Spring terms because there are a lot of topics and labs you will need to complete & memorize. However, if you have a strong foundation from high school chemistry then you should be fine! He expects you to look at the textbook for lesson details & additional assistance.
Ansari is an engaging chem prof who makes the material more manageable through helpful practices like pre-lab lectures and sample tests. Consistent review is key, but unstuckstudy ai can also aid study prep.
While his lectures can get kind of sleepy, they align well with the tests which are pretty fair and easy to study for. He gives a lot of practice problems and explains stuff pretty decently. Lab isn't bad either, straightforward and not difficult, but he knocks points off for little things. Biggest flaw is he can't post on Canvas to save a life.
Overall a fine class. His lectures are a bit boring, but they help prepare for the quizzes and tests which are not very hard. The labs are straightforward and he tries to make them as easy as he can, but he does take points off for little things on formal lab reports. All HW and Labs must be turned in on paper before class, which is really annoying
lectures are so boring that we lost interest and had to rely on his recorded videos, which are much easier to understand. All of assginment/lab report have to be printed out to turn in (which can be annoying). Quizzes are easy and doable, but the exams are super hard.
Took over winter. Grading is curved so I would've gotten a C based of %. If you have good studying habits class will be easier for you. Textbook was 150$ but useful to study. Boring lectures but informational, if you dont understand something the chemistry tutor has a video on it. Overall a chill professor, intimidating upon approach but helpful.
Like other review say, he is a knowledgeable professor, but his lectures are not the best, he's just reading off notes and he goes incredibly fast with very bad handwriting. He's a very strict grader and it's exam heavy. If you do bad on one exam then your grade is gonna suffer greatly. Do not recommend him. Only take him if you if good in chem.
his lectures are handwritten and he goes super fast. he is smart but does not explain things well. his handwriting is messy and doesn't wait for you to finish copying. i do not recommend at all! he also doesn't give out homework which makes it difficult to practice problems outside of class. pick a different teacher for sure.
he's knowledgeable and a decent teacher. lectures can get sleepy but he genuinely wants u to understand chem. only announces deadlines/dates for assignments/reports/exams in person during lecture so pay attention. no ec other than SI which is a 2% boost. overall if u wanna learn & understand chem i'd def take him. oh & i love his dry humor lol.
Take notes on everything he writes because all of his quiz + test Qs are from there. He usually crack jokes in class, + his handwriting is sometimes hard to follow. He makes labs easier by explaining them + giving formulas for the postlabs. HW is not for completion credit but they do help with exams. His final was so hard that it dropped my grade
dont take this class with him im being so serioussss
Had him for both 1A and 1B. He may seem intimidating, but he's really cool and helpful. His quizzes and test FRQs are all from the notes, but some of his MCQs are conceptual (but still doable). There's no prelab for his class. He also preps you very well for the next course. His final was a lot easier than his 1A final that I was able to get an A.
Mr.A is really dosnt like slacker. If you struggle with chemistry he is lenient with you only if he sees that you are trying. This class is easy if you do the work and study.
Professor Ansari is a little intimating at first but he really cares about your learning. He is very good at explaning things. He also makes you study and do a lot of homework. Took his class during summer and pulled a B but learned a lot. His exams are very challenging but his quizzes are easier.
Most of his quizzes and tests are based off of labs and notes so if you watch the online lectures and do the notes you should be prepared enough for those tests. Many of his analogies are pointless and the concepts are easier to understand without them so self-studying might be more useful. I took this over summer so it was a bit easier imo.
Had for both Chem 1A & B, such an amazing professor. You can 100% haggle him on points for FRQ and quizzes as long as you can prove you understood the concept. Quizzes and Exams are straightforward and involve everything in lecture. As long as you study the lecture notes and do practice problems, you'll understand the content and pass this class.
Good professor but exams are hard and are weighted heavy. Go to lectures and do practice Qs n you'll be fine. Office hours help too.
Took 1B over the summer and it was very challenging but Ansari has online video lectures to keep reviewing which was key. The only reason I got an A is because he has an 86 as an A. He will give you credit back on quizzes and tests if you fight for it. Will have questions from labs and sometimes textbook problems on tests and quiz.
