Statistics the easy way! Class is taught in a way that makes tests very easy, especially since practice exams are the same. Quizzes are a little bit harder and require that you study, but she does tell you what is coming on them on the class period before (she reads directly from the quiz, but most students dont realize it).
A lot of reading, which you definitely need to make time for and make sure you study!!! Tests can be easy if you study. Make sure you follow directions in the syllabus because you will not get credit if you do not follow them. Do the assignments and study for the tests, you will be fine. Also, do your studies early. Do not wait for the last minute!
She is one of the most badass prof I've ever had. If you go to class & lab you should be able to understand the material. Not an easy class but def able to get thru it. She puts practice exams & extra practice problems on webcourses so you know exactly what to expect. Homework is always similar to exam questions.
Awesome professor!! Stats was made easy with her, she really helps a lot and makes things fun. The only thing I don't like is the quizzes and her + AND - GRADING UGH!! Oh well I got an A-
Great professor! She helps you along the way and teaches until you understand it, she posts practice exams which are very similar to the actual exams! If you do well on the homework and the take the time to do the practice exam your READY to ace the actual exam. The toughest part about the course is time when taking the exams, just practice:)
Initially I was a little nervous to take this class , but Janoswky was such an amazing teacher! She gives practice if u know how to do the hw and especially the study guide u will do great! Be sure to actually study for quizzes as that's where ppl messed up a little more. She doesn't give extra credit so Put effort in and study . I got an A !
Very easy class. Definitely recommend taking it with her.
At the beginning of the semester she seemed to care about her students, but at the end she didn't care if her students passed or failed. She skimmed through class and had her TA's teach a majority of the time. I wish I would have taken this class with a professor who cared about her students a little more.
Whoever doesn't get an A in PSY2012 online doesn't know how to use google. Weekly discussion/ response and 40 question quiz. Only used book for discussions, all quiz questions are available via google/quizlet. Easy summer class with minimal work/ effort required for a high grade
She is a wonderful professor. She's very clear about what to know for exams and quizzes and takes feedback from students seriously. For this class, you really only need the book for the charts in the back (not worth it). I highly recommend this professor, just make sure you put the reasonable amount of work in.
Dr. J is an incredible teacher. She is very clear and to the point and tries to make the material fun and interesting and easy to learn. I found nothing difficult about this class. Tests are just like the practices and very straightforward. I would definitely recommend this professor to anyone.
Really great lectures, she gives a lot of examples and really tries to make sure the whole class understands before moving on. She tries her best to make the class fun and easy to learn, and really listens to the feedback her students give her. Would take again, and would recommend!
I had her for PSY3204C and SOP3004C and enjoyed both classes. She was extremely helpful when questioned, provided good discussions and provided a fun and inviting atmosphere.
She's great! I took her class online for 6 weeks during the summer. Discussions are a lot, and quizzes are simple, if you read. Participation is a must and she uploads lectures. Great professor!!
Professor Janowsky is amazing! One of the best classes and teachers. Her class is composed of 3 tests and an optional final, meaning the lowest test score is dropped. She also has 2 research reviews that have a multiple choice and essay portion. Her lectures aren't boring and the work isn't half bad. Highly recommend.
Probably one of my favorite professors I've had. She actually keeps lectures interesting and moves at a great pace. I never once felt lost throughout the course. Not an easy class, but an A is definitely achievable if you stay on track and go to class.
Dr. J is the best teacher I've ever had! I was terrified for this class but as soon as she started teaching the material, she explained it in a way that did not dumb it down but made complete sense. She is very funny so I honestly enjoyed going to her class. I would definitely recommend taking her, she's amazing.
Janowski herself is brilliant. The subject matter is boring and hard. Not hard like you'll never get it, but the course does require some dedication in learning the formulas. On the bright side Prof. Janowski made the lectures bearable, and as entertaining as possible. If i had to take another boring course i would pick Janowski everytime.
I took her for Social Psychology. She is extremely knowledgeable and makes her lectures easy to understand and entertaining. However, you have to study for her tests. My advice is to make a friend or two, create a small study team, and read through the powerpoints and review, and highlight main ideas through the chapters. Test items can be tricky.
a lot of hw but very helpful when it came to practicing problems. Spends large amount of lecture working out problems but wo those examples you would be clueless on tests. Fairly boring class but extremely easy A. concept quizzes were much harder than math exams but counted for less. gives practice exam that is IDENTICAL to actual
I have taken two of her classes, and ended up with an A in both. You will have to take notes and work for your grade, but she makes it incredibly manageable . Her tests are very much application based. She is incredibly organized and fun. She actually cares about student feedback.. Absolutely the best professor I have ever had.
Favorite professor! Loved her teaching style, organization, humor, and rate of teaching. There was nothing I didn't like about this class, and I'm not even a math person. Hopefully I can find her for some of my other psych classes. Recommend!!!
Dr. J is the absolute best professor! She's there if you want any feedback on her two writing assignments throughout the semester and her tests aren't bad. As long as you pay attention to her, which won't be hard because she's hilarious and beautiful, you'll ace her class!
Respected by students, becuase she is an easy A. This class is a great college class.
Loved her! Her quizzes were hard but test were easy A, just don't miss lab or your grade will drop like crazy! I love her humor and empathy towards students. Would take again and recommend.
I found her quizzes to be more difficult than the exams, but are passable if you put the time and effort to study and attend the review sessions. The homework she gives out really helps you prepare for the exams. She even gives out extra practice problems to ensure that everyone is prepared.
The quizzes focuses more on concepts and the tests focuses on the math part of it. She gives plenty of practice so don't worry. She's a great teacher and keeps the class interesting with her cat pictures and videos.
Janowsky is an amazing professor. However, if you're looking for an easy A. DO NOT TAKE HER. I've never put in so much work in a class for a B.
Dr. J does a great job of making statistics seem like an easy subject. She gives plenty of practice for her 3 exams and as long as you do them and review homework it should be easy. For the three quizzes, I would recommend using the book to study as well as going to the review sessions. This plus lab should give you good results in the class.
Dr. Janowsky was an awesome professor. I made sure I attended every class and sat in the front of the class. If you take good notes and study you should do well. She is very detail when explaining steps. I was nervous because when I took stastics I did not have to remember formula's but just pay attention. She will help you also.
Dr. J is an amazing professor. Everything about her class is so clearly outlined, and she really wants her students to pass. She will prepare you for exactly what will be on the test, and there are even review sessions if you're not prepared from just class and homework.
She's a great teacher and keeps students involved. It's a bit laborious with the lab but if you can knuckle down and barrel through it, it's really easy. I took STA2023 before this and had a much harder time.
She's absolutely amazing!
In my 5 years of college I've never had a better professor; I never write these things but she definitely deserves it. I highly recommend her and any of the courses she teaches. She makes the material extremely clear, sometimes at a slow pace (but you can't please everyone). TAKE HER CLASS, you won't regret it, it can be a bit of work but worth it!
Online, 3 tests covers at least 7 chapters, weekly discussion posts, you write one then you have to critic two classmates, a paper that needs to be turned in 3 times also need to critic two classmates on their papers each time for a grade. Way to much busy work to actually focus on material. Stressful class! I'd stay away. Teachers PPTs were great.
I love Dr.J she is soooo sweet and really cares about her students. The class is not hard at all, and I am not a numbers person. Seriously, she makes the assignments and material so clear cut, there is no reason not to get an A, but go to class!! I can't say enough good things about the professor.
Is so hard to get an A with this wordy tests and little time to complete those. Stay away if you don't want to hurt your GPA. She can be nice but committed the fundamental attribution error with the students. Guide exams and games to practice for exam are useless.
One of the best psych professors I've ever had. She makes stats a breeze. Just show up to class and DO THE HOMEWORK. It's basically the test. She maps out everything you need to know to pass both her quizzes and tests.
If you go to class, use the material she posts online (Powerpoints and reviews), and do the homework it's almost impossible to get lower than an A in the class. Clear, very straight forward class. No surprises. Didn't really use the textbook.
Very kind teacher. Wants her students to do well. Very funny. Makes class interesting and fun to learn. Need to study and read the book to pass. Takes questions from the book on tests. Does not have trick questions on exam. Uses learning catalytic every day in class for points. Can't skip class. Power points online but gives more info in class.
I absolutely love professor Janowsky! She is really smart, & you can tell she loves her job. Although the material may be a little challenging, she makes sure you understand it. She gives many practice problems to work on during lecture which makes it really helpful. She also provides many tools to learn at home, online; including tutorial videos!
Dr. J is amazing! She really makes you work for your grade, but it's a fun class. If you don't like group projects, then don't take her: you have to do a mandatory participation weekend in a SimSoc activity. But take her because SimSoc is a ton of fun!
Very clear to understand, and an easy course. There is a lot of information to cover though, which is mostly powerpoints and lectures. Participation in class is a must and a grade. Expect cat memes and attempts to make you laugh. Textbook use is pretty much just to fill out study guides for exams which arent graded at all.
Honestly I just showed up to class and took notes and went to the review sessions and I have a high A in the class. If you pay attention in class, which is easy because her stories and side comments are hilarious, you will most definitely pass this class. She is also really nice and willing to help. I actually enjoyed going to this class.
Best professor I have ever had @ UCF!She wants you to do well and succeed. There are practice exams and practice lab quizzes which are JUST LIKE THE ACTUAL TEST. Print out the PowerPoints for lecture and follow along! She is also very approachable so if you are confused on how to do something, just ask! No reason why you should not pass this class!
Take her for stats. Go to class and take notes. The tests are the same as the practice tests. She is very organized and good at explaining. I suck at math and I couldn't have taken this class with a different professor. Also, you don't need the textbook.
I only went to class until my participation points were maxed out. Notes are online & she gives you example videos. She drops the lowest test grade if you take the final. I enjoyed her class when I went. She always jokes around and starts class with a funny video. Not good with psychology so I got a C but could be an easy A for others!
Dr. Janowsky makes every lecture easy to understand and enjoyable. The tests are very easy as long as you pay attention in class. She's hilarious. I chose her as the professor for other psych classes as well.
Janowsky is hilarious and makes the material easy to understand. She posts her notes online and her tests are multiple choice. Pretty easy to follow along and get an A. 4 tests total, but will drop lowest grade if you take optional dept. final exam, so 5 tests in all but will count highest 4 scores. I always looked forward to this class! Take her!
By far one of my favorite professors at UCF!! Practice exams are just like the actual exams except the actual exams are multiple choice. Quizzes can be tough so study for those (the TA's study sessions help). Lab is easy she give video tutorials on how to do it. She does give A-'s though so be careful for those. SHE WILL NOT CHANGE IT IF YOU GET A-
Thought it was going to be a hard class but turned out to be fun! She is hilarious and makes difficult things not so bad. I have taken statistics before but I have got by far the most out of this one!
The best professor at UCF in my opinion. She's very straight-forward, cut-the-BS type of person. Hilarious lectures and videos. It was a mixed-mode class so reading can be a little heavy, just prepare before the lecture. She truly cares about students' opinions and tries to take suggestions into account. Offers extra credit opportunities.
Professor Janowsky is by far the best professor I have yet taken, her course is very well ordered and she provides study guides for all of her exams. If you follow the study guides and fill them in based off of the notes which she lectures in class, you are guaranteed to pass. She also provides cat memes throughout the course to lighten the stress
Professor Janowsky was without a doubt one of the best professors I have ever had. She makes class so exciting by adding memes or personal photos to her powerpoints, and she is absolutely HILARIOUS. I would be so sad when I had to miss class, because her class was genuinely that much fun. She makes the complicated stuff more bearable. Love her!!
God Bless Janowsky. Best professor i've EVER had. Super organized and helpful, she really puts a lot of effort into her students and it shows. Her puns are kind of corny but it makes class fun and easy to pay attention. If you put in effort, do the assigned work, and use her study guides (they are GOLDEN), you'll pass AND actually retain the info.
Amazing professor! She is comedic and lighthearted and a great teacher overall. I would definitely recommend her! She makes the learning easy. The only thing that's difficult in the course is the exams. The questions are not difficult, but the amount of information you have to remember is enormous.
A sense of accomplishment with a side of an A. Janowsky's class was probably my favorite and I'm not even fond of math/statistics. She made the material fun and interesting and kept our attention with her humorous lectures. Got a perfect score on the last exam felt sosososo good.
I've taken classes with Dr. J before, and I've always loved them. Stats for Psych Majors was no different. It's a tough class, but she goes over everything very thoroughly and really takes the time to explain everything. The size of this class (300+) makes it a bit hard to get one-on-one focus, but thats what the TA's are for. Lab is fun too!
Dr. Janowsky cares about her students and wants you to pass her class. She's sunny and she brings that into her lectures. She gives you powerpoints, but she leaves out the answers to problems and gives them in class lecture. Everything is manageable if you put the effort in. She also gives practice exams and quizzes with the same Q's as her exams.
She's hilarious. You definitely need to attend the classes in order to do well.
I have taking Professor Janowsky twice already, both times I have received an A in her class. My advice go to class every day, pay attention, take notes and do the study guides and go to study sessions. If you do this there is no way on earth you could fail her class. Practice exams and quizzes IS EXCATLY LIKE THE EXAMS!! HINT HINT**
She provides you with all the materials you need to succeed (practice exams, quizzes, and problems). You will get behind if you don't attend lecture. If you give 100% in this course, you will definitely get an A (I did). Make sure to do practice exams, they are exactly like the real exams! She also offers study sessions conducted by TA's.
The best. Funny, genuinely caring, and wants you to learn the material. Does everything short of giving you the answers to help you pass the class. I'm a poor math student and aced this class. Every professor should be like her.
While I only got a B it was due to the fact I never went to class and never really studied. I'd totally recommend this class.
I did not go to class often but when I did, I really enjoyed her lectures. She cares a lot about the subject and teaches it in a way that makes it fun and interesting.
Memes for days & always starts class with a funny video. Lecture is focused on math so make sure u study theory for quizzes. 3 exams (math, easy if u can memorize the formulas), 3 quizzes (focused on theory--they're TOUGH! STUDY!) HW for e/ lesson & a weekly lab assignment. Very organized. Lots of practice, so if u put forth effort u will do well!
Janowsky is funny, and a good teacher, but her tests are almost impossible to finish in the time allotted. If you have test anxiety, I suggest taking it with someone else.
Really funny and engaging. Do the practice test on webcourses before the exam. A decent amount of your grade depends on lab, which can be a little challenging sometimes. Would love to take her again. She was really clear about what she wanted.
She is clear and just. Explains the material thoroughly, but make sure you study for Quizzes. They are all theory, and HARD. Exams are fine, but long for the allotted time, if you get test anxiety DON'T TAKE. Be prepared to go 3 times to your lab, for lab quiz. Weekly assignments for both class and lab. Put in the effort and it will be an easy A!
Probably my favorite teacher on campus. Go to class, polling questions, and her lecture seriously help ALOT. & her powerpoints and lectures are hilarious. Take notes from ppt & from the book, helped me get a 96 on all her tests. Don't slack off and a A is guaranteed. Some people dont do great on the test bc they dont prepare, so use the book
Dr. Janowsky is the best professor I've had so far. She makes lectures interesting, and makes the material easy to understand. Tests are not easy, but they are fair. She jokes around a lot in class and she gives participation points as a grade.
Being that I wasn't the best in stats, I did find this class somewhat difficult. BUT, I do have to say that Janowsky tries to make it as comprehensive as she can for those who are not well-versed in the subject.
I've never gotten an A on math tests and I got a 92 on every test (3). Make sure you do the review and it's literally the same thing as the test. Make sure you study the quizzes and go to the reviews. The quizzes are hard but if you do all the labs and homeworks you'll be fine. I wish she reached more classes. And she shows cat videos
I have never really been good at math but I have not recieved a grade lower than a B in this class on an exam! I hate the homework, there is alot of it! The quizzes are ALOT harder then the exams are and the practice exam is exactly like the regular exam but with different numbers! Literally do the practice over & over & you'll pass
Janowsky is by far one of the best professors I've had for my time at UCF. So funny, caring, loves memes and videos, truly CARES about her students grades and well-being. Mandatory weekend project that was actually very enjoyable and applied to the class very well. Tests are on proctorhub (online) and polling at home due once a week.
She's such a sweetheart and I thought I would hate this class (Don't love stats at all) but she does her best to give materials and lectures that make it understandable. gotta work for the A with homework and lab homework every week, but it all feels necessary/helpful and i definitely would take her again
Love this woman! I've never been strong in math, but she made statistics easy to learn. She's very genuine and gives feedback for every assignment, which I loved! You must work hard to earn your grade, though. Buy the book, go to class, practice and DO THE PRACTICE EXAMS and you will be fine! :) I also recommend her social psych class. SO GOOD.
She is an amazing teacher. I came into the class scared because I had never understood statistics. She was the first teacher to explain things in a way that I fully understood and I actually did good! She's really funny and always willing to answer any questions. Do all of the review material and you will do great on the exams.
Honestly, she's great. The class was taught at a perfect pace and she sent encouraging messages to each student both before submitting their work, completing a test, etc. and after. Great personality & funny. Truly cares about the subject and her students. Goes out of her way to ensure we retain the information! Sends encouraging emails.
3 lab quizzes, 3 lecture quizzes & 3 exams. 2 assignments due/week (can end up being too much sometimes). No formulas given during exams If you have test anxiety, DO NOT TAKE HER. This was the first time I got anything below a B since I've been at UCF. I got a D bc of my test anxiety. Tbh, she makes this class more difficult than it needs to be.
She is an amazing professor. I find math really easy, so I breezed through this class, but she is very helpful and has lots of TA's if you need help. There's 3 exams, 3 quizzes, 3 lab quizzes, 12 homework (2 get dropped), and 9 lab assignments (1 gets dropped). The book is helpful for the lecture quizzes. You have to be willing to put in effort.
Dr. J is hands down the best professor at UCF. It is very obvious that she cares about her student's success. I took Stats online with her (apparently it was her first time teaching this class online), but she knocked it out of the park. She provides videos/detailed explanations and is readily available for questions. she is OUTSTANDING.
This professor is amazing. She was hilarious and sweet throughout all her lectures. But the best part of this class was how helpful and resourceful she is. She prepares you for everything! The quizzes are difficult but exams are straightforward. Highly recommend.
I have serious test anxiety and am AWFUL at math, I was terrified.. she's ready for that. She'll make you laugh and make sure you have all the tools to pass. For the exams, she recommends studying with the how-to guides/homework. Then do the practice exam on the corner of a desk and time yourself. You'll know exactly what you'll get on the exam!
I loved PSY 2012 and found most of the study guides on quizlet. Just make sure you study for the tests and go to class and you will have an A
She makes everything super clear and straightforward. Lectures go through the math, and you're expected to catch up on theory by reading, but the theory is not difficult (read it! it's on quizzes). She makes super in-depth guides for the labs, which is more helpful than any other mixed-mode prof I've heard of. Do your work and you'll pass.
Dr. J is absolutely wonderful, she has been my favorite professor so far. She makes the lectures interesting, understandable, and relatable. I feel lucky to have had her as my professor, I genuinely dont think theres anyone better than her. She explains most of the material in class but it helps to read the textbook as well and tests are easy.
Professor Janowsky is hands down the best college professor I've ever had! She's funny and helpful and lays out everything you need for this class. She makes her own videos to help you with lab and gives you practice tests and study guides, so as long as you pay attention and take advantage of everything she gives you, you will do well.
One of my favorite professors. Every time you do well on an assignment you get a "good work" message. There was kind of a lot of work, but if you paid attention in class, it's easy and usually not very time consuming. The quizzes are hard, but manageable with study. Gives a gives a study guide that is the test with different numbers.
Dr. J is so awesome! I wish she taught every class. Hilarious and makes sure you understand the material. Makes her own videos, super accessible and very clear on grading and what she will want on quizzes/tests/homework. She definitely gives you work but if you put even the slightest bit of time in, she guides you into an easy A.
She is definitely the funniest professor I've had. The tests are hard and count for 75% of your grade but her lectures are really good. Her slides contain a lot of the information and she's really good at teaching it in a way that you'll understand. You do have to read the book, like 3 chapters for each of the 4 exams.
I had Dr. J this semester and I absolutely loved her. I laughed at something she did/said every class. There are 4 exams worth 75% of your grade. She does require a text book and half of the questions on the exams are text book based. Attendance isn't mandatory but she does grade participation every class meeting so it'll be a good idea to go.
Dr. J was my favorite professor this semester. She makes her lectures humorous while still explaining efficiently. Gives lots of examples and real world connections to topics/ideas. Pretty straightforward about test content. Tests are based on lecture and textbook, so I wouldnt skip. Participation is a part of your grade as well.
Janowsky is one of those people you want to listen too, her lectures are interesting and won't put you to sleep. She does a participation grade where you answer questions on learning catalytics for points so attendance is semi-mandatory. The book is useful, and she wants you to use it, but you might be able to go without it using the study guides.
Dr. J is my favorite professor at UCF. Her lectures are super informative and hilarious. I found myself looking forward to each class and I wish I was a psych major just so I can take another class with her! After every exam, she sends a cute little email if you did good and really drives you to do better as the course goes on. We all loved her!
No classwork. Only exams and participation. uses learning catalytics for participation and gives enough points where you can miss some classes and doesn't really affect your grade. amazing lecture. always starts with a funny video or cat meme. exams are very easy if you study for them by reading the textbook. she gives real life examples. amazing.
I have mixed feelings about Professor Janowsky. She's a good professor, but her class is not easy. You really gotta work for an A. She gives study guides for all her tests, which help, but it's a lot of content. 4 tests in total with an optional final that will drop your lowest exam grade. Study really hard for her tests and go to class.
I absolutely loved her class. Her grading criteria is clear. The course is constructed of 4 tests (1 is optional, and wont affect your grade if taken) and 1 departmental final that is taken online at home. Attendance is required because she gives us quizzes to better help us understand what type of questions would be on the exam.
Prof Janowsky is one of the funniest professors Ive ever had. Shes very engaging and is super knowledgeable in her field. If you are required to take this class, you will be so happy if you take her. Everything on the exams are in the textbook, and the study guides she gives tells you whats on the exam.
I loved taking this class. The professor is funny and makes the lectures entertaining with videos and examples. Her tests are very straight forward with the information we learn in class. Read the concepts in the book while filling out her study guides and you're set. Show up to class to get the participation points.
Dr. Janowski is such an amazing and funny person. I've never been a huge fan of psych but she made it interesting and she's also really funny. I'd definitely recommend her class.
Janowsky was amazing. She doesn't post powerpoint online, so if you want the notes, you have to go to class. Learning Catalytics was also used for participation purposes. Her tests are a mix of lectures and readings from the textbooks and reading the textbook really helped me to study for the exams. She gives great feedback as well.
Professor J is caring, and is noted to be funny by lots of students. I honestly thought it was annoying but that is just how she can keep her students interested. Exams were tough for me, especially since i'm not the faster math test taker and her quizzes were pretty hard too. Obviously, study your ass off to get an A in this class.
Professor Janowsky is an amazing lecturer! I loved coming to class and learning about psych because she made it super interesting. She's really funny and approachable so if you have any questions, definitely come up to her after class or shoot her an email! Read the textbook and take the learning catalytics quizzes!!
She is nice and silly. The expectations are made very clear and she sets up the class so it's easy to succeed. I never attended class, did all of the homework (she posts step-by-step procedures to do them and it's online), and spent about 30 minutes to an hour studying before an exam or quiz, and I ended up just short of an A. I'd reccomend her.
She is arguably one of the best professors at UCF period. She emphasizes power point slides during lecture that will be on the quizzes. The quizzes are hard to some but I studied the slides, book pages and some quizlets and got 100% on all of them. Tests are SUPER easy if you memorize formulas. Labs due every week but she posts vids on how to do it
Prof. Janowsky was one of the best profs I've had in my undergrad experience. The outline and structure of the course couldn't have been more organized. Very amazing, very fair. You have to put the work in for this course.
Make sure you read all her modules, watch her videos and read the book. Exams are 60% of final grade and the questions are not very clear. You have 60 minutes to take 50 question on each exam and she uses proctor hub. I worked very hard just to pass. I took this course for a 6 week summer course.
Although it is not mandatory to go to class, if you miss a class you will fall behind because she is constantly teaching us something new. I was very nervous to take this class but because of her, I excelled. Although there is a lot of homework, the homework is what prepares you perfectly for the exams and labs.
Wow, professor Janowsky is amazing. I hate anything to do with math but her lectures are super easy to follow, after this class I wanted a minor in stats. She's extremely witty and makes the class upbeat and fun. I would love to take her again, I can't express enough how great she is! Take her!
I love this class. Dr. Janowsky makes statistics really fun and interesting, and will literally walk the class through how to do everything. There are a lot of grades, lowest homework and lowest lab gets dropped. The practice tests are EXACTLY LIKE the actual lab quiz/test, and I recommend going to class. She's the best and is so funny too.
Janowsky is one of the best math teachers I've ever had. I'm not a math person, but she made it click. Lectures are super easy to follow, walks you through everything, and does everything she can to prepare you for quizzes/tests. Attendance isn't mandatory, but she makes you not want to miss class. Can't say enough good things about her! Take her!
Dr. J is extremely attentive and helpful, this is my second class with her and while the subject was hard, her explanations and practice made it super easy to understand. Attending class is crucial to understanding the material and she knows that so she makes class fun each time. I wish I could take every class with her, shes that good.
This class is hard because it's stats, but she makes it not as bad and is super funny. She replies to emails super fast, and never seems bothered by students asking questions. This is a class you have to stay on top of things to do well so only take it if you're mentally ready. Mine was online so you have to be disciplined and take time out for it.
Awesome professor! I was concerned taking this class (I struggle in math), bitnsje is amazing at breaking it down. Weekly live review sessions and always available to help. Shes funny and personable. Perfect choice for those good in math or those who need extra support.
Dr. Janowsky was a really good professor. She was really fun and taught the material very thoroughly, and her lab attendance was optional. Tests and quizzes were pretty straight forward. Only thing to know- she does not post her full lectures online, so you must attend class to get all the notes.
TAKE TAKE TAKE! Class is easy as long as you did the work and follow instructions. Tests are replicas of the practice test. Amazing, inspiring, and hilarious professor. Best class I've taken as UCF by far.
Seriously awesome. Makes a class that should be extremely hard, something completely doable. Hilarious and assists you in every way possible by giving all the materials she thinks you will need to pass. I suck at math and I got an A+ on every exam. She tells you the exact format of the exam the day before so you are well prepared.
She's cool but she makes it harder for her students in my opinion. She'll make every answer on the test a possible answer so you have to make sure you know what you're doing 1000000%. Definitely not an easy class and honestly she kind of annoyed me
She is a great lecturer, funny, organized & cares. My biggest problem in this class and dropped my grade is that it does not seem like you have enough time for the timed exams. She should give 4 exams instead of 3. If you forget something you cannot move on to the next question sometimes. I have never experienced test anxiety until this class.
She is a wonderful professor. At first the course may scare you because she makes you remember all of the formulas but it isn't so bad. She prepares you soo much for the exams. The workload is pretty heavy but it all contributes to how well you do in the course.
BEST PROFESSOR. I've never been the strongest at math but she makes everything so smooth. The way she sets up her homework, her lectures and she gives so much practice material. Her practice exams are an amazing guide and are so helpful. She makes her class so seamless. Thanks to Dr.J, I've learned to appreciate statistics and I enjoy the subject!
This professor is amazing. She is very clear on what will be on the tests. There IS homework, but it is preparing you for similar questions on the test. If you have to take Stats for Psych, TAKE HER!!!!
I respected Prof. Janowsky and she definitely knew a lot. Her online class had a lot of material to review, and she was very helpful. HOWEVER, I do believe this is one of the most fast-paced classes I have ever taken. She only gives you a few days to complete hours worth of tests. She also has tough assignments, graded heavily.
3 exams, 3 quizzes, 3 lab quizzes every four modules. Overall grade is 45% of exams--test heavy course. Reading is a must. Exams are proctored. You need a webcam. Weekly web conferences--extremely helpful. Wouldn't recommend this course for full-time students. Test-heavy, harsh grading scale. She's willing to help, but the course is tough.
Great presenter, uses humor and great detail in her lectures sure to keep your attention. The material is confusing at first, but becomes simple with practice. Practice will be the biggest help in the class, some questions from her practice material end up on her quizzes and exams so study away!
Probably my favorite professor at UCF. She's funny and makes the class interesting. The material is definitely challenging but she makes it easy to understand and posts 'how-to' guides and reviews which are very helpful. I highly recommend taking her.
Janowsky is a great professor. Its obvious she cares about her students and while the class is fast paced, she makes the material as straightforward as she can. Shes great at incorporating humor while also helping you learn simultaneously. She uses a lot of animal memes to lighten things up. Put in the work and you'll do well. I ended with a 99.
This class was extremely difficult but Professor Janowsky made it worthwhile and fun! She is very educated and knows what she's talking about. Very helpful with feedback and posts helpful videos, notes, examples, etc. Loved this class!
Absolutely loved Dr. J! She made class fun and is very good at explaining math problems. She made me actually enjoy math. Weekly homework and lab. 3 theory quizzes, 3 exams, and 3 labs every 4 weeks. Weekly conference where she goes over homework and lab for the week, VERY helpful. TAKE HER!
Dr. Janowsky is THE best. I took her for Spring 19'. I am not good at math but she makes math "enjoyable" and somewhat easy. She explains everything VERY well. If I had the opportunity to take her again I would. Pls take her, you will thank me later! Her practice exams are exactly like the actual tests (literally). DO IT!!
I took her class online, normally I like math but she makes it super confusing. She'll explain how your suppose to do the math, and then how your not suppose to do it which makes it hard to follow along. And as the semester went on it seemed like she stopped preparing for her web conferences and would give/say wrong information.
She was the best math professor I've ever had. She makes such a hard class, doable. She jokes most of the time and is always on top of everything. Answers emails immediately, office hours all the time, TA's are great. Highly recommend her.
I hated statistics, but Prof. J's lectures made me fall in love with it! She made it so easy to understand, and I was never bored. I was in Stat Methods II at the same time, though, which had a much faster pace and made it VERY easy to pass this class. I recommend you GO TO CLASS. She walks you through all the math very slowly.
Teaches off of a PowerPoint, goes on long tangents that may/or may not be helpful to the lecture. Feels like wasted time. Otherwise, she is funny, doesn't have a lot of homework (4 discussions through out the year) tests are more applied questions rather than remembering things so harder than usual. Overall, lecture is frustrating longotherwisegood
This was by far the most difficult class I've ever taken and I'm a junior in college. No matter how good you do in the lab it's only worth 20% of your overall grade. The lecture/handwritten portion of this class is just awful. TEST ANXIETY? DO NOT TAKE HER! I could have not withdrawn from this class if I had more time to finish her ridiculous tests
She is very conversational and really helps you understand the material. She never leaves an idea unanswered or unapproached. Her tests aren't very hard, she just makes sure you understand the material. She has a true passion for the material and her students.
This class is one I can truly say the material makes you work for the grade. However she has all the materials that you will need to pass. Math is just something you have to practice. If you put the work in outside of the classroom you will be sure to pass. She has wonderful material for you to practice with. If you have questions she is available
Her lectures are interesting & she relates concepts to real life, which makes it easier to get. Attendance isn't required, but it helps to go, because she gives practice problems for the test. Tests are easy as long as you pay attention. Hands down one of the best professors. She really cares & wants you to do well. Take her if you can.
With the correct amount of effort, there's no reason why you should fail this class. Her lectures don't cover all the material on the exams, so it's important that you read the chapters for exams. However, there are specific questions on the test that refer back to her lectures, so go to class! Tests are easy if you study, overall a good class!
Absolutely love this teacher. She made this class so enjoyable. If you don't mind learning you'll want to come to this class everyday. Her tests are not hard and even though she does have discussion posts they are basically easy 100s. No quizes
Great professor. Math isn't hard if you go to class and pay attention. The in-class quizzes and lab quizzes can be hard but if you do her practice and study guides and go to study sessions then you will have no problem passing. You have to put in work to get a good grade
I actually enjoyed going to Professor Janowsky's class, and her class lectures are really helpful for what's going to be on the exams. 4 exams and 1 optional final. I didn't need to take the final because I got good grades on all of her exams. Pro tip: don't buy the book; you can find it as an online pdf for free because the textbook is important
Contrary to many opinions, I really do not like Dr. Janowsky. She's probably a fine person but... I really just don't like how she handles her class. Her TA's are terrible at grading discussions, and her tests feel very difficult to pull A's on. There are like 35 easy questions, and 15 "???" one's each test. Book is also useless. Don't recommend.
I love Dr. J! Her class was by far my favorite this semester and I looked forward to it every time. She's super funny and makes the course material actually interesting. Her tests are super easy as long as you follow the study guides she provides and read the book. 4 tests and an optional final and 4 discussion posts (she drops the lowest one)
Professor Janowsky is one of my favorite professors thus far! She is very funny (which makes the lectures a lot more bearable), an amazing speaker, does clear reminders for due dates (during lectures only), terrific at explaining the course material and she loves cats! Overall, I would highly recommend Dr. Janowsky.
She truly is a good, caring, and funny professor. She definitely knows what she's talking about. Attendance isn't mandatory but she definitely shows things in class that aren't on the powerpoints she posts. There are many factors outside of this class that impact your grade (VIA UCF requirements) so be sure we keep up with due dates and study !!!
Her class is extremely straightforward. You dont need to show up to class, everything is posted online. The textbook is barely needed. Might have one assignment due every two weeks.
Isn't bad if you try. I wouldn't call it an EASY A, but if you go to class you & read the book it's not hard to get one. Pay attention to SONA credits (UCF requirement). She drops your lowest exam & discussion grade. Final is optional. Don't cram (you can get away w it but you really don't need to). Discussions were hard to get a perfect score on.
Alisha knows how to keep an audiences attention, shes done this before and she knows that a good cat meme or a funny relatable video will get the class engaged. Tests arent horrible, the Sona points are annoying but very doable, and the group discussions are tedious at times but also doable.
she lectures too quickly and talks too fast and only gives a general idea of the topics we study. get ready to read that god awful textbook for all the chapters she tests you on. i withdrawed to save my gpa. she's funny tho but that gonna help me graduate so never again.
It's been a very long time since I've taken a math course and actually understood what was going on. Dr. J is excellent! She has so many examples, step-by-step, and resources on her webcourses if you need that extra help, but go to class bc she will make everything make sense there as well. You'll have to work for the A, but she can get you there!
Class was extremely demanding and she did not try to help. Offers some extra credit in tests but isn't enough. Final is optional, drops lowest exam score. 4 discussion 1 dropped. Her tests are very challenging and sometimes tricky. Lecture can be fun but not worth dropping your grade. Make sure you read the book and study early to pass the tests.
I liked her as a teacher! She was approachable, fun, and understanding. Just make sure you show up bc some of the test questions will be from class only. There's like 3 discussions every other week, but its easy I promise. There is also this survey thing you have to do, and that's probably the most annoying part. I'd take this class again for sure!
This class really taught me how important it is to read from the book. Yes! You need to read to pass exams. Even though attendance is not required it's important to show up cause exam questions WILL come from her lectures. Overall, she was a very likable individual and I would recommend her if you're willing to work hard for your grade!
Dr. Janowsky was hands-down the best statistics professor I've ever had. She made it easy to master the material because she broke everything down and worked through everything with you, even if you were in a huge class. It's best to come to class so you can get that hands-on help that will definitely make it easier to get an A. Study hard for test
Janowsky is one of the best professors, very organized. She really cares about her students doing well. The class may seem overwhelming at first but form a study group and you'll be fine. Memorize the formulas. Show up to class and take good notes. There's a lab where you learn how to use SPSS & write stats in APA which helps for future classes.
Great professor with a sense of humor! Class is tough but she gives tons of practice and examples . If you show up to class and do the work & practices you will do good in the class . You have to put in the work!
She's just amazing. She sends personalized emails to remind you about doing your homework/lab and to congratulate you if you did good on a homework/test. She gives several examples and makes you work on them in class just in case you have any questions or doubts in the process. 100% recommend
Her lectures teach you everything. She breaks everything down and i never thought id be doing this good in a math class. Would take her again
Dr Janowsky was one of the best professors I could have had my first year at UCF. This class is not an "easy" A, but if you put in the work, you will pass and enjoy this class! She is hilarious and caring for her students and a really great teacher.
Dr. J is one of the best professors i've had the pleasure of taking at UCF. i'm really bad at math and i hate stats, so i was worried about this class, but she makes everything extremely black and white and tells you exactly what you need to know. she seriously cares about her students which is a quality not many professors have. def take her.
I was extremely stressed when I started this class, but she made this class seems so easy. She goes through everything step, by step. She always has funny memes in her lectures. You do need the book for quizzes. Even with the shift to online due to the COVID pandemic, she tried her best to explain the subject. Great professor!!!
Professor Janowsky is an amazing and very caring professor. She is so knowledgeable and does everything in her power to try and get students to succeed (tests and quizzes are almost always curved). This class is definitely not for someone looking to get an "easy A" however, as this is an upper level course and you will have to work for it 110%.
Dr. J is amazing. She makes the class as easy as she can, so you don't have to remember much from your pre-req stats class. She's funny, easy to talk to, and clearly cares about her students. She also did a great job transitioning to online classes after spring break. I never read the textbook and still got an A.
I took this professor's class during my freshman year. It is an awesome introduction course for psychology. Professor Janowsky makes the material interesting and accompanies her lectures with fun videos. She always ensures that there are reviews made available to all students, via the TA's.
Exams can be tricky and weighted heavily. Lectures were very entertaining.
For a basic class, the professor makes this class much harder than it needs to be. You will cover 2 chapters each week, each chapter around 50 pages + her own notes and videos that you must take notes on. Her exams are free game, questions could come from the textbook, ppts, videos, her notes, etc. You need to put in a lot of effort for the grade.
Prof Janowsky does an amazing job with this class! The quizzes are super hard (class average typically 75) but she does a good job at explaining material! The quizzes are hard due to the amount of application questions. You are also allowed a page of notes front and back so definitely take advantage. The only other work is the discussion questions!
Dr.J is the best prof I have ever had she really cares about her students & gives you so much information on each topic you have to learn its impossible to fail. She does narrated powerpoints has lots of practice problems & goes over it again during our zoom meetings math isnt my strongest subject but with Dr.J she makes it easy my first A in mat
This class is NOT easy so be ready to work for your grade. She is a good teacher and you will understand the material if you actually try to learn it. Just beware that the course takes time and effort. She does Assessment Weeks, meaning that you will have 3 difficult tests all in one hell of a week. Begin to mentally prepare when you register.
Horrible. do not take
Her lectures, quizzes, homework have all had some kind of error, glaring typo, or some other misleading information. Her grading scale is set up to where a 93% is an A, and it becomes very difficult to get that A. I stopped attending her lectures because they're just as tedious. And she mutes quizzes so we don't know where we went wrong.
Overall, very caring teacher. If you read the textbook and take notes during her weekly lecture you will do fine. She gives practice questions to review before you take the quizzes. There are only 7 quizzes and that makes up most of your grade. Weekly discussing posts helps comprehend the modules. Deff would take this class again, very enjoyable!
Professor J is like a breath of fresh air. You can tell that she really enjoys what she teaches. Her enthusiasm for the course will rub off on you. The course is pretty easy, given that you seriously read the textbook and take good notes. Don't wait until the last minute to read! She sets you up to pass.
Dr. J's class was very organized and well structured. I took her class online and she managed to keep her lectures informative and precise but still made time for students outside of class. She cares about her students and is easily accessible even on weekends and over breaks. I've never been a math student but I understood her class and did well.
Dr. J is amazing! She is so funny and sweet and you can really tell she cares about her students. I've never been one for math, but she made this course easy to understand and was always accessible after class hours if you needed help! I totally recommend her for anyone taking Statistical Methods in Psychology!
Pros : she is funny, communicates well, and I think she does care for her students. Cons : this class is not meant to be online. The course material is too hard for people to focus on while they are at home in the middle of a pandemic. The quizzes are pretty difficult and there is a lot of reading, and I just do not think it is good online.
I love Dr. Janowsky!!! Her class wasn't too bad. There were 3 sets of assessments consisting of a theory quiz, a lab quiz, and a math exam. These weren't too bad as long as you read the book, attend her lectures (or watch recordings), and complete your HW. There was a math HW and a lab due every week. Dr. J is also very accessible outside of class.
She is a great professor and cares about everyone but unfortunately the class itself is something you have to work for a good grade. There are 3 "assessment" weeks where you are tested on all your knowledge for those modules. The other weeks you are graded on a HW Quiz & lab. If you study, watch lectures and read you will pass.
Dr J is amazing! This was my favorite class this semester. This course is very reading heavy but stay on top of it and you'll be fine. Weekly discussion post and response, a quiz every 2 weeks. She held weekly zoom meetings/lectures (not mandatory) which are very helpful to go to.
My only critique is that curves based on the median and not the mean. I disagree with this because the stats she shows us has a higher median than average, meaning the scores are negatively skewed. Most people got a C or a B- in this course but since the median was 85, she did not offer a curve. Ngl I was lowkey upset. Ended with an 89 :(
Class isnt too bad if you're decent at math or have taken anything beyond rudimentary algebra, this will be a breeze given how concepts are broken down. Main problems are inbox spam, and the casio 260 only restriciton: a calculator so bad you literally have to train to use it. for $3 more ($8 total) you could use the TI-30xIIS, Why Dr.J? why?...
Dr. J is an amazing lecturer! The way she breaks things down makes it easy to learn material that can be hard to grasp and overwhelming at first glance. This was my first stats class since I took the prerequisite almost 7 years ago and she made it a lot easier on me than I expected. Come in ready to work hard with an open mind and you will pass!
This class was NOT easy, but if I had a different professor I would not have passed. Professor Janowsky knows her material. She provides lectures, additional videos, module notes, how-to guides, and practice guides. The tests are difficult so you really need to study, but she is always willing to help. Definitely take her!
Dr. Janowsky herself seems like a really entertaining/caring person, but her class is incredibly difficult. There is a LOT of reading/extra materials and it can be somewhat overwhelming. She is very caring/passionate but the class is rather difficult due to the immense amounts of memorization.
Did not like it at all its very dense which was not the problem. It was her test that the questions came out of nowhere even though I did all the readings couldnt get over a B in her class. She is nice but her test are bad. The discussion post were also difficult to get a good grade in but maybe that was just the TA
All of Professor Janowsky's classes that I've taken have been amazing!! She outlines everything you will need to know for the course at the start and keeps you informed. This subject has a lot of information, but the professor breaks it down. Despite being remote, I actually retained the information. Weekly hw and three exams.
I had the honor of being taught by such a high quality person. Dr. Janowsky has made my first semester eye-opening & extremely fun. Our textbooks were free! Definitely time manage. She's accessible during office hours, lectures, & inbox! Do not hesitate to speak up. Despite what's been said, Alissa is a great T.A! She is accessible if you need her.
Dr. J might be the best professor I've ever had. I've always been terrible at anything math-related, and because of her, I'm passing this (higher difficulty) class with flying colors. Information she gives in each module is so clear that as long as you pay attention and take the time to practice, it's nearly impossible not to master each concept.
Her online mode offers Zoom lectures and her practices for exams are very similar to the actual exams. Cons: she is nitpicky and for some absurd reason does not allow formula sheets. I hate unnecessary restrictions, and formula sheets are always available in the real world, so it's an annoyance for nothing. If your memory is okay, you'll be fine.
If it wasnt for Dr. J I dont think I wouldve succeeded in PSY3204C. This course is super tough, but if you really study the material that Dr. J provides you will pass, she is awesome!
I trusted the reviews and huge mistake! No formulas allowed. You get to use a childlike calculator, test are proctored so EVERYTHING IS DONE BY MEMORY. No notes allowed + test are timed. Impossible class unless you are great at math and no anxiety. The practice questions were easier than the test because she would use small numbers. She doesn'tcare
If you aren't good at stat and you're worried about taking this class Dr. J is a great option. She lays everything out in step-by-step format and makes it easy. Lectures are always posted online and she gives step-by-step instructions for homework and studying for the exam. Great with feedback and responds to emails quick. Great professor!
Professor Janowsky is SO GOOD. She gives a fair amount of workload where it makes you have to know your material but doesn't overload your week. Attend class though! She offered a zoom session as well if you didn't want to go in person and posts them after, but I recommend going to the lectures. She's such a great teacher! TAKE HER!
Take this professor! She uses a free textbook and provides an abundance of online content and review. You will need to actually study for exams, but you're allowed one page of handwritten notes on each exam. She does give the option of attending class on zoom which is great. Each module follows the same schedule every two weeks. Would take again!
Her lectures are dead boring, she will make you hate psychology. Her TA sucks at grading, he grades so hard he might as well be the professor. There is no homework but your grade is all "quizzes" (40 questions mind you) and discussion posts that her TA psychoanalyzes. DONT take this class unless you want to have a stroke twice a week
Not flexible at all or understanding. During Covid, you would think teachers should be there for their students to answer their questions and help them receive the grade they deserve. Not watch them sink and drown and them claim there is nothing they can do. This teacher did not even answer my emails about grades. I had to sneak onto her zoom hours
this is my second time taking this class because I failed it the first time and it is so hard probably the hardest math class ive ever taken!the professor is nothing special and could be much more helpful. she changed her class to give practice quizzes and things like that for future exams, but makes it honorlocked and annoying to access HARD AF
More than half of my class failed this semester. Material is very difficult but can be easy to learn, however hardly any students were able to finish her exams because of how long they are and little time we are given. Nothing was done about this and she showed no mercy to anyone. DO NOT TAKE HER for gods sake do not.
I highly do not recommend taking this professor. She does do a good job of walking you through the steps through each course but this class is extremely time consuming and hard. She does not care for her student or have any understanding. She takes awhile to respond and when she does respond it is not helpful at all. Half of my class did not pass.
I don't recommend her. She doesn't actually lecture, only reads off of her slides. Going to class isn't mandatory, but she says very specific things in class that might show up on the quiz. The textbook is required and there's lots of reading, but the textbook is free. I'm usually an A student and I got a B bc of how difficult and harsh she grades.
Pros: very organized, very accommodating to students need, nice person, gives lots of practice (especially to the math portion of the course), everything is due by Saturday (usually 1 math hw and 1 lab) Cons: tedious grader (gives you lots examples of how she wants it), a lot of reading (a least one ch per week), uses honorlock and no formula sheet
its only a math hw and a lab due mainly every week as well a chapter to read. shes very organized and sets up a schedule you can follow. textbook can be found online. exams can be tough with the time constraint. quizzes are the most difficult and are mainly from lectures and the book, she also made helpful kahoots. lectures were recorded.
She was nice. Her quizzes were a bit complicated, and you have to be REALLY immersed in the content. But I put in a fair amount of effort and got what I put in. I wish she covered more in her lectures, but can't say anything negative. Somewhat hard to contact, but an okay class overall. If you're willing to put in some effort, you should take her.
Super organized and had a consistent structure. Relatively difficult 40 question quizzes using honorlock every two weeks, not cumulative but still covers a lot of information. Discussion posts and two responses every other week. Kahoot! in class everyday after the lecture. I spent A LOT of time taking book notes for this class.
Changed grading scale from A- to regular A's, obvious that she cares about the education of her students. Puts effort into her lectures and trys to make things as engaging as possible.
Sweet woman, but would NOT recommend for this class. No formula sheet, timed tests/quizzes, and lots of reading in the book. Very hard to keep up with if you have other classes/ a job. She does drop a quiz and a lab grade so that is good, but no extra credit. She also does not respond in a timely matter, neither do her TAs.
She really cared about her students because she dropped the A+ or A- grading criteria and will give you and A (this is an example. Her classes were very interesting and she gives great notes to study for the test. A discussion post every week and quizzes. She is a really good teacher
Professor Janowsky's class was definitely the hardest class I've ever took. She definitely kept me on my feet. Her assessments were BRUTAL! You definitely have to read the book every week (sometimes over 50+ pages) and watch her lecture recordings. I put in a lot of work with this class and got a B! Which I'm extremely grateful for.
Homework/labs count for 10% of your grade and exams count for 90%. There are 3 groupings of 3 exams. I reached out to Dr Janowsky about my concerns and problems I was having multiple times and was met with only the option of dropping the class which it was too late to do. I also have student accessibility services for a disability.
She makes you work hard for your quizzes and test, but the rest of the discussions and sona points are a piece of cake. Just be ready to read a lot and study at least 1 hour every day.
She takes videos explaining how to do assignments and stats correctly that I did find helpful but she assigns too much work for someone working a full time job and doing college part time with other classes. All of her work is due on saturdays. She also isn't available on weekends for questions or concerns. Uses honorlock. You need the book.
This is the hardest class that I've ever taken as a senior in college doing a double major. Exams cover SO much material it's unbearable and homework is graded tediously, will seriously take points off for anything, including spacing. During our exam week, we have three different exams to take, have to memorize all formulas, & take it on Honorlock.
Her lectures were fantastic! They were full of examples that we understood and could relate to. I didn't like the discussion posts she made us do but it did help keep me on track with my work. There is a lot of reading but the textbook is free. She makes the final for all PSY2012 classes so it felt like just another one of her exams.
Great teacher. She makes everything very clear, a good sense of humor. No cost for the book its online however, the theory quizzes, 20 percent of your overall grade, are heavily based on the book so do not skim the book, make sure you fully understand it.Overall I would say half the time I put minimal effort and still did well.
For gen psych, she made the content enjoyable during lectures and also gave the option of zoom. There were weekly discussion posts, followed by quizzes. The content wasn't hard, but you have to read the textbook in order to pass her tests as the lecture slides didn't include everything. Uses Honorlock but allows one page of notes. Textbook was free
I feel like I could've learned the same amount in this class whether she was there or not. All she would do is send us a link to the textbook and give us a quiz every two weeks. Her lectures would just be her reading the book to us. Why am I paying lots of money to simply read a textbook? I don't need to go to college in order to read a book.
The best statistics teacher I've had, the practice homework is super interactive and has games that walk you through. She adds memes in module notes, super responsive and makes the course easy to follow (and im horrible with math, like I had to take intro to stats twice lol). she posts recordings of all zoom classes if you dont have time to go
While she is very nice, the class was horrible. The lectures were deathly boring, class was math HEAVY, and quizzes and exams were extremely difficult. Unless you have time to spend 6+ hours a week studying for her class you won't get above an A. Like I said while she is nice, her class is extremely difficult and I love statistics.
Dr. Janowsky was amazing. She provides practice exams that are just like the actual exam with different numbers, same for the lab tests. Also, she has videos detailing labs and use of spss for that weeks lab. If you are good at following a video exactly how it is you will guaranteed pass the class.
This class is hard, however there are so many resources provided by the professor that it makes the textbook obsolete. This class gives you the tools needed to succeed. Also, it was listed as in person but there were no actual meeting days for class or lab. Overall, take Professor Janowsky for this class and you will pass!
Quizzes every two weeks, discussion posts weekly, nothing too bad. I showed up to 3 lectures and got a 96% overall. Read the textbook and module notes and you'll be fine. You get a page of notes for quizzes. If you want interesting lectures this class isn't for you and you probably won't retain any info, but I think it was an easy A.
Gotta read the textbook, Quizzes every two weeks but you have 4~ days to take them before it's graded. She does discussions that can give you extra credit if you do an extra response, and the class itself definitely depends on you reading the PowerPoint/modules/textbook. The teacher herself is kind and easy to understand, and I stayed online.
This course was structured very well and I didn't feel like I was struggling to pass. She explains the material well & provides a lot of extra aids in her modules. I didn't read the textbook much (which is important when it comes to quizzes) but I still managed to pass them. It all depends on how you take-in information so do this at your own risk!
Makes sure terms are understandable with well thought out examples that are relatable. Gives an extra credit option on discussion posts. Discussion posts are interesting + help you communicate with classmates. Sends reminder emails for quizzes + assignments, offers help, records all zoom meetings + posts on webcourses. Replies promptly to emails.
Her class was very nice, during her lectures she was very easy to stay on topic with and understand. However, her lectures are built off the book, so if you didn't read the book, you would have no idea what she's talking about. Nice class, slog to read the textbook. She grades by discussions, quizzes, and participation in labs.
Best professor ive had at ucf. was the only one that had me understand psych. Professor J is the best and I would recommend all psych majors take her class! Fair grader but there is a lot of work to be prepared for. I'd recommend focusing on the modules in her canvas over lectures if you had to choose.
grade system explained inefficiently, led to much confusion that affected grade. Also, grade depends very heavily on quizzes which are very difficult and detailed
Kind professor that likes to add humor to content to make it easier to digest. Lectures consist of covering terms and concepts from the (free!) textbook, module notes reinforce content in different ways, and there are plenty of supplemental materials from videos to practice games to assist in preparing for the biweekly quizzes. Great class overall!
This class is going to be a ton of work no matter who you take it with! However, I would not have passed with any other professor. She broke down every concept clearly and gives all the tools to pass. Exams are proctored, but they are broken down into three parts so you can study one thing at a time.
Fun, sweet, and relatable.
I loved professor Janowsky! She's funny and her lectures are very interesting. Exams are really easy as well.
I only took this class for my GEP but I really enjoyed it more than I thought. Dr.J was very reasonable and fair. Her lectures were great and always interesting. Great professor I would love to take another course with her again.
Alisha is a queen. She is a great lecturer and gives what to study for the exams. Just pay attention and read the textbook and you're golden. She is pretty funny and her lectures are very engaging. She also uses kahoot to help review and apply what you just learned. Overall 10/10 professor.
Professor Janowsky was such a sweet teacher. She knew exactly what she was teaching and made sure it was fun for her students. The tests and all other assignments are pretty easy just make sure you read over her notes to better understand concepts. Would definitely take her again!
Professor Janowsky made this semester not completely terrible for me. She has a clear grading criteria, a math HW and a Lab each week, 3 "test weeks" with a lab quiz, math test, and a theory quiz, none of which are super challenging. Very caring and was flexible with going to zoom and recording her lectures if needed. Recommend taking her!
This is by far the best math class I have ever taken. Professor J knows what she's talking about and gives you step by step directions on how to do it too. She is not very good at responding to messages on canvas and I found that to really understand the material I had to go in person because she does not record her lectures.
Amazing! she made learning the material super easy and kept things interesting. Lectures and review sessions that she does for each test and quiz are super helpful. Also, she uploaded many resources and videos of her teaching the math which was really helpful if I missed a lecture. Take at least one class w/ Dr.J before you graduate! she's awesome!
She made this class very easy to learn. Lectures aren't mandatory, but does not record all of them so I suggest going to class. Class consists of hw, labs, 3 exams, 3 quizzes, and 3 lab quizzes. Her teaching style made it very entertaining. She has many videos throughout the module that are super helpful. Definitely recommend her. She's amazing!!
Professor J was great! I enjoyed her lectures, as she tried to make them fun. You have a math and lab HW each week, three test weeks, with a math test and a theory and a lab quiz. The information was all there for you and great resources outside of lecture. Made a very difficult semester for me a bit easier. She also cares a lot about students.
The class was the hardest class for me this semester. You probably should read the book, but I didn't and my test scores reflect that but she is an amazing teacher and she actually cares about what she is teaching. She offers a lot of help if you are struggling.
Dr. Janowsky is an amazing lecturer. Even though psychology is not my strong suit, her lectures made me enjoy it as much as I could. She allows 2 pages front and back for exams that are worth 50% of the grade. Very doable, but READ THE TEXTBOOK!! The textbook is the only reason I passed since the lectures only cover the basics. Overall 10/10
She was a very good professor she explains exactly how things should be done and answers very fast with any questions. Her test and quizzes are not the easiest so read the text book and pay attention in lectures and you will be fine!
Dr. J is a good teacher just not my cup of tea. Her pwpts are confusing without the lecture. I didn't like that she did Kahoots often because the questions were quiz level questions, so it is difficult for people like me who need to take their time reading to understand. That would often force me to pick a random answer because of the time limit.
AWFUL! This prof doesn't allow any help on ANY graded work (hw included). All formulas are expected to be memorized. She gives you practice assignments for no credit to do on your own time. Won't slow down lectures for students who need help. Even kids who are great at stats fail the hw. She only cares about making the class as hard as possible.
good lecturer, i suggest going to class though. my major is psychology and she made me love psych much more. Dr. J is very funny and made the class enjoyable. make sure you read the PowerPoints and the textbook. you are allowed to have notes on the exam, but exams are worth 50% of your grade, so be careful.
Dr. Janowsky was one of my favorite professors. She is an excellent lecturer and you can tell she really cares for her students. She gives helpful feedback and teaches in a way that is easy to understand. I HIGHLY recommend taking stats with her.
Pretty well put together lectures, just make sure to study for the tests and do the work and you should do good.
Helps to go to class, she works through practice problems. Sometimes felt like she went a little too fast for me, but everything is posted online after so it's reviewable. HW and lab assignment due each week. Assessment weeks are split into a theory quiz, lab quiz, and exam. Don't actually have to attend the lab, it can be done remotely in SPSS.
This class was easy. Everything has specific instructions posted online in modules so attendance was unnecessary once I realized. Just need to sit down once a week and work through 2 assignments, not much other effort needs to be put in aside from that and the exams, which take about a day to study for. Took this with 2 extremely hard classes.
She's a good professor, I'm not great at math and she went a little too fast for me and her teaching style wasn't my favorite. So I wouldn't take her again but that being said, it wasn't super super hard just a lot of work and took up so much time.
Take her!! Textbook was free, powerpoints were uploaded. Go to the lectures, she explains things very well and makes it interesting. All the work is online, exams are on a lockdown browser with camera on. You're allowed 2pgs front and back of HANDWRITTEN notes for exams.
This is the only class I have ever failed. If you mess up one exam, you are going to spend the semester trying to dig yourself out. She doesn't seem to understand that students can't spend hours on hw. Tests are on honor lock with no notes for most. If you are good at math and have loads of time take her.Doesn't give good explanations to bad grades
Fairly average experience across the board, although I did not enjoy using Honorlock for the tests. Doesn't go above and beyond in any way, but certainly not the worst choice. Had some funny moments and lectures were fairly interesting, but tests could get real rough and not many notes were allowed.
I would take this class again. Try to do the in person research assignments as soon as possible. That relieved a lot of stress for me in the term by finishing them early.
Professor Janowsky was my favorite professor I had last semester because she makes the lectures interesting by showing videos and making jokes that help you remember what was being talked about. A couple of exams and lots of participation grades made this class pretty easy if you pay attention.
AMAZING professor! Truly passionate about teaching, v entertaining and engaging lectures, tons of opportunities to review. Very fair amount of work, not 2 much, not 2 little. One review assignment weekly, one Yellowdig participation weekly, biweekly paragraph discussion, 3 tests, no final. As long as you participate in this class you will succeed.
I struggled a lot with this class because there isn't much practice and on the tests, you HAVE to recall every formula which is a little hard for me but besides that, she was a great professor. Her lectures were always interesting and if you do miss a class, she posts how to do things step-by-step.
One of the best professors I've had so far! Dr. J is so sweet and you can tell she really cares about her students. She provides so many resources to help you succeed in class. There are 3 tests (no cumulative final) but you're allowed to have 2 pages front and back of handwritten notes. The textbook is free. I would definitely take her again!
Dr. Janowsky is humorous and fun to be around. She goes above and beyond to provide resources to ensure that you pass. There are a few errors in the provided materials that could negatively impact what you learn and confuse you but there weren't too many. Her class is fun and she definitely cares about all of her students.
Honestly a really good professor. The class itself is a bit annoying because you're required to either participate in research or write a 800-1000 word review on an academic article every week, but she can't control that. Her lectures and reviews are good and her tests were easy as long as you study and pay attention.
Her lectures were amazing, relevant, and used modern references. It was easy to learn and use the different platforms for assignments. Would take again. 10/10 recommend. Just study and keep up with the book and notes and you'll be fine.
She was very nice, and the lectures where easy to follow. However, her exams would have things that weren't elaborated on the lectures, as well as the psychology 2012 class had a bunch of random ways to loss credit which was hard to follow, especially in the beggining.
This professor is ok, but when it comes to exams you going to be lost. She wastes your time with a lot of "review games" that are unrelated to the test and provide little to no help on the actual test. test are weighted heavy. I would have chosen someone else if I knew Id be wasting my time putting this much effort and stress into a freaking gep.
just don't
I have never went out of my way to negatively rate a professor. Most of the reviews were decent so I felt okay taking this Prof but never again! Does not understand the fact that we have lives, jobs, and other classes. Despite it being a 4 credit class, you will be spending up to 6 hours a week just on her class. Don't waste your time and money.
Professor Janowsky's course was very intuitive and fun, but I will warn that you are going to be spending many hours a week writing notes and reading. Additionally, some of the modules in my opinion were repetitive and giving information that was already present in the textbook. Speaking of the textbook, it's free, which is awesome!
Her class is set up in three sections: math/statistics, theory, and lab. One day, she goes over the analysis math and a little bit of theory. The other day, she goes over how to use SPSS for the analysis and how to write the output in proper APA format. Most of the theory tested is found in the book. I really liked her teaching style.
Math has never been my forte and Dr. Janowsky was my second favorite professor my first semester at UCF. She makes it so easy to understand stats! Honestly class is 100% optional but I do recommend going for test/quiz reviews. However, you could completely depend on the Webcourses modules to learn for the homework assignments! 1000% recommend her
She's great, teaches in a very straightforward manner. Weekly assignments included 1 math quiz and 1 lab quiz. Drops lowest math and lab quiz. Each test is broken into 3 separate parts (math, lab, and theory) and you can spread them out within each test week. Theory is hardest but her reviews help! Class not req but definitely go during test week!!
Great professor! Made stats very simple and easy to understand. Attendance isn't mandatory but the lectures help SO much. Quizzes use honor lock but are relatively easy if you pay attention in class. Take advantage of the practice tests!!!!!
This professor was awesome! Very helpful and would sometimes send reminders. Very understanding. Coursework was easy and her slides were extremely informative!
Do NOT take anyone else for stat! She explains everything very clearly, gives good feedback, does weekly Kahoots, and is very funny and caring. Lab attendance not mandatory. Weekly math and lab homework, heavy textbook reading for theory content, 3 exams broken into math, lab, and theory (2-sided cheat sheet for theory) content per exam (9 total).
Not necessarily a bad class/professor but the assignments have a very weird/awkward grading format where you have to respond to poorly conceived open ended questions. The readings feel excessive for some weeks and the tests have a consistent issue with truly horrendous grammar/syntax typos. That being said it is fairly doable to get an A.
The class has three main components: lab, theory, and math. Most weeks there're 2 assignments. An SPSS one and a math one. She does ask you to do stats by hand, so it's tedious, but you have the formulas, so easy. She has step by step instructions on how to do everything online, so attendance isn't needed. Exams were broken up into the three parts.
Dr. J is an amazing professor that truly cares for her students! The assignments are so helpful as they're formatted exactly like the exams, and she guides you step by step on everything we need to do. I was prepared for this class to be hard, but Dr. J made it so easy to understand. Attendance isn't mandatory, but I would highly recommend going!
She advised you to find the textbook online for free. She's very caring, but grading in APA format is very strict. 3 sets of exams are broken up into 3 smaller exams (math exam, theory exam, lab exam), all proctored. Has videos on how to do the labs. Great professor, I'm just bad at math.
Her exams are honor-locked, but she lets you use 2 pages of hand-written notes front and back on exams. The course is doable but as someone with ADHD, it was extremely difficult to feel prepared for her exams because there is SO much material covered per exam. Biggest advice: Study what's on the study guides! Forget the rest.
I didn't get to know her too well since the only Zoom meeting times available to review the materials were when I had other classes going on, but she made assignments pretty easy and gave us extra assistance on the tests. The test relies on a lot of reading, but Ms. Janowsky also posts simple & effective PowerPoints; the PowerPoints helped a lot!!
I want to start off by saying that I am the absolute WORSE in math. Dr.J has made this class soooo easy to understand. Do not take this course with any other professor! I have a week left but currently have an A. She really does care and explains the course thoroughly. 10/10!
Professor Janowsky was amazing! Would definitely recommend her. These ratings ain't lying!
She was absolutely the sweetest professor I've ever had at UCF, or college in general. She messages you to remind you of due dates, incorporates cats and pop culture into each assignment, and has pretty easy coursework I felt. I took this over the summer and did not feel overwhelmed at all.
One of, if not the best professor I have ever had. I have always struggled with math, but her way of teaching just sticks with me. Her lectures are very interesting, she's very funny and kind. If you're worried about taking Statistical Methods in Psychology, TAKE IT WITH JANOWSKY! She is amazing.
Absolutely amazing. Going to class is enough to understand the math material but I do need to read the textbook or modules to understand theory stuff. Very easy if you pay attention.
She is the most attentive professor/teacher I have ever had. I took this class fully online and she makes the online process so easy. Theres are posts of step by steps of the expectations every week, with what readings to do. So many extra credits and work is pretty easy. The only reason I got a B is because I didnt work the first few weeks.
She was one of the best professors i've had. The content for stat methods in psych is pretty difficult but she was so great at explaining everything and the modules online were so organized. I've always struggled with math and ended up with an A in this class. She's the best, take a class with her!!
I was nervous to take this course bc i am not good w math but Dr Janowsky explains everything really well which makes it easy to learn. She also provides a lot of feedback to help us learn from our mistakes and provides us with resources on Webcourses to help us further understand the material such as extra credit, recorded lectures, and "games".
Amazing professor, puts a lot into the course. There is so much stuff in the modules to help and she teaches well. If you don't get a good grade, it's because you didn't put in the time. It's not a class you can skate by in, you have to put in the work. She gives you everything you need to get a good grade. Labs are tedious. Best teacher for stats.
This professor is very caring and tries to do whats best for her students, while giving extra credit and dropping a test if you fail it is really on you.
Professor Janowsky is amazing. I dislike math classes strongly and it has always been something I have failed at. I have excelled in this course simply by following her lectures and modules closely. She truly provides every tool to succeed in this course. Definitely one of the best professors I have had.
Dr. J's course is SUPER fun. She has a theme for teaching and breaks everything up so it's really clear- she even makes a schedule for you to follow. You'll have to read and understand the concepts instead of just answering with textbook information (ie: real life concept of the information.) Do the work and participate and you'll succeed!
3 math exams, 3 lab quizzes, 3 theory quizzes, and a weekly hw and lab assignment. workload is very do-able. study the hw example vids for exams and you'll pass. study lab quiz reviews, and read the textbook for theory quiz.
Dr. J in general is awesome especially for stat methods. HOWEVER I took personality theory with her and it was very hard. Was expecting a fun elective, got 50-80+ pages of reading/notes a week plus her own modules, all on lockdown browser tests worth 50% of your grade. Don't take this class if you want an easy A, but she's still a great professor.
weekly homework and labs. she does give extra resources and practice for assignments. all exams and quizzes were taken with lock down browser and you can't have a formula sheet for the exams and the formulas and steps are A LOT to remember. she also explains things weird lol. if you're good at stats and math it wont be THAT bad.
She's the best math professor I've ever had. It's impossible to fail if you do all the work she gives you. She provides step by step instructions for all the equations in the class. make sure to study for the three tests in the class though.
Dr. Janowsky is an absolutely amazing professor! I'm not good at math/stats so the material was a little difficult but there are so many resources like games, videos, and notes that are super helpful. Professor Janowsky's lectures were great, she is super funny and makes the material way easier to understand.
Good professor. She gives a lot of resources to learn everything between video reviews and uploading zoom lectures. Truthfully, study the material and those reviews and you'll do well. She gives step by step instructions. The class has three sections and about 3 tests, 3 quizzes, and a homework for them. She's very nice and cares a lot.
Janowsky was one if the best professors I have ever had. She answered emails in a decent time frame, was kind, and beyond supportive of her students. Of course math classes can be challenging but she gives more than enough resources to help her students excel.
