Very Knowledgable with Math, but with foreign accent it's hard to understand.
Knows his stuff, very helpful
He is by far the greatest math teacher ive ever had!! yes hard to understand, but worth the A's ive gotten. ill take him throughout math!!
OMG, I could not understand one word. His accent was sooo thick. He made the whole class feel stupid if they asked a question. He is not helpful at all. He does not answer your questions. I would not recommend him. I've had better calculus teachers.
Makes STUPID STUDENTS feel stupid. Sometimes asks extra-credit questions - for the students who belong in college-level math clases. I like a teacher who doesn't make it easy succede: It encourages students to WORK HARDER!
He is the worst instructor I have ever had. He belittles the students when they ask questions, he mumbles, he stands directly in front of what he is writing on the board so the students cannot see. His "just here for the paycheck" attitude is ob
I can honestly say that I have not learned anything this semester. He is very unclear, unkind, belittles his students, falls asleep during class and mumbles. I would avoid him at all cost.
His test were really hard and from what i heard everyone failed his final. Most of us are having to retake the class. Not a good class at all.
Difficult to follow. Takes off on tangents that show his love for math, but very little else.
Abdul is a very good professor. He is the best math professor I ever had. He just isn't a great teacher but also a grat person. He makes math interesting and I hate math. He drops two of the four tests he gives. The tests are very easy.
Personally, I would take his class if there wasn't another math teacher I knew. He loves math and is extremely intelligent but does get off on tangents. He explains but isn't always very helpful/clear. He gives fair tests and no homework.
Ok, so I had him for two days because sometimes summer classes at AR are lame! Anyway, he does go off on tangents and does sometimes belittle students, but he knows his material. Just go to class every day and harass him to get answers.
tests are so frickin easy its painful. lecture is deep..way deeper than youve ever gone before or ever wanted to but tests are sweeeeeet.
hard to understand, belittles student, good class if you need an easy a if not you learn nothing
DO not take this teacher! He does not explain anything, he is totally full of himself. Very smart guy but TERRIBLE teacher. I did not learn ANYTHING in his class..
he sucks! hes not consistent and he does make you feel like youre dumb.Hes not prepared sometimes. He seems like hes only doing this because he gets paid.he calls himself the super commander. Makes us do HELLA homework but doesnt even take the time to grade it, which can be good, but annoying as hell
4 exams + 1 final (2 of the lowest are dropped) w/ notes, no graded HW, no quizes; expects you to understand, BUT he DOES NOT explain ANYTHING, heavy accent, belittling of his students, arrogant... you'll have hell and regret when you do the 2nd semester class- trust me I know
Adulis a good professor. His class isn't that hard and he is a fair grader. He drops tests also.He knows his stuff. He teaches well also. The other students didn't rate him well. You can trust me
Dr.Abdul is a good professor. My favorite math professor at ARC. He knows his math. Most students rated him unfair. He loves math and does a good job teaching it. He could teach at university for more pay but teaches at ARC.
If you want to actually learn...DO NOT take his class!! Abdul doesnt clearly explain anything! I asked him a question in class once. He said I would never know the answer unless I got smart and used my head. He makes you feel stupid. Its not right! Abdul you stink!!!! BOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!
very nice teacher you just need to pay attention in class to understand something he says
Abdul is an excellent professor. Fair grader and explains things well. If you are not good in math than he is the best professor to take.He will make hard things seem easy. Don't leason to the coments of lazy students.
This teacher sucks! Do not use him. He barely speaks English, doesn't explain what he's doing, mumbles, and is rude. This is a waste of your time. Choose Mr. Etgen instead! He is a great teacher. Mr. Abdul sucks.
I taught myself statistics. Stats is the easiest class at AR, so it doesn't matter what teacher you have. Take it with Abdul and don't go to class. Just bring your calculator to the tests and chill in the OTC. ~Former Tutor
If you are looking for an easy class, take this one. Your grade is based on 4 tests and a final, one of which is dropped. The grades are also based on a curve. One simple extra credit assignment can raise your grade 20%. He isn't the best at explaining material but his class was still very easy. The
his grasp of the english language is horrible! he is very hard to understand. i tried to quote something from the text book to answer his question and he told me not to go by the book because it was wrong and he was right!

This guy is so full of himself. He is so lazy. He just sits in class and tells us to do problems. He doesn't even know statistics and expects us to know it inside and out. He sucks so much . It is better to not take statistics than take it with this guy.
I don't know how this guy got his degree. Abdul can't even speak english. Man he is like work work stat know easy easy. What the hell. He can't even do basic problems right. So called Dr. Abdul should get fired. I hope every goes to Mrs. Jones and get this guy fired.
I don't know how he even manage teaching at a college. He doesn't help at all and always try to make student feel dumb. He thinks that he's only joking but it's not funny. He needs to find another job. Teaching isn't his best skill at least not here in College.
We would spend hours on why a number multiplied by zero would equal zero. He wasn't helpful, and I didn't learn anything.
the material is difficult and he only has the clas worth two hundred points, but he gives you the test questions ahead of time. So take good notes and study and you should go fine. Plus he gives a 25 point extra credit question.
He makes this class impossible to fail as far as his grading system. He makes sure that everyone knows WHY math works the way it does instead of just thinking "well this is the way i was told it works". He takes it to the level of understanding versus mechanically blind knowledge you can gain in any elementary class. He's quarky but good! Easy A!
He grades all tests on a curve and your final grade is bassed on a cureve also. That's what is good about this class. If you take him during summer school like I did then u have no homework and take 3 test and he only counts 2
His guy is horrible. I have to wait another semester before transferring to University of Southern California now because of this guy.
Easy. Only 3 tests and a final. He drops one of the lowest one. No Homework!!!!

THIS GUYS WAS A TOTAL JOKE, HIS CLASS WAS BORING AND HE IS HARD TO COMPREHEND

hes a great teacher
I have completed over 50 units and abdul was by far the worst teacher I've ever had!!!
i had to stop showing up he sounds **** all the time
He gives no help at all, doesn't have any patients and will even tell the whole class, they will never succeed in the world and you are the dumbest class I've ever had. Don't take him!
i thought he was weird....poor english...boring....i would't take him if i were you. Unless your the type to learn from NO talking or interaction, he just wrote on the board....blah....he sucked
This teacher needs help. He talks softly and when he does talk loud enough for you to hear, his english is so bad that you still cannot understand him. He acts like hes stupid.
He made the final easy by allowing us to just show up and sign in, then we automativally passed the class.
The worst instructor I have ever had. This guy should give it up. Nasty to students, let's you know he does not care about teaching... Do not understand why he is allowed to continue teaching. Bad Rep for ARC....Final was 40% of grade!
I took the Calc for bio-sci a few years back with Abdul. I thought initially he was a poor teacher, but now that i attend UCD, I realize his teaching style is extremely common among professors at the university. He prepares you to NOT be pampered, and his grading style (2 midterms, 1 final) is how almost all professors at universities grade.
Teacher was bad, did not learn anything. Only good thing was that i failed every test and the final and somehow still got a C. He passes everyone
no hw is collected only two tests and a final...thats all ur grade is based on, hard class for me, i ended up in confusion and anger...but he's funny
I liked the dude. Talkes funny, gives you similar quesions that will be on the test(usually 4 or 5), doesn't collect homework. But I could of learned more with different professor. Class was too easy for me. Easy A.
He knows exactly what he is doing. His job is to teach math, and he does it well. Also, he is a reasonable man who jokes logically. Silly kids get mad when he shows their stupidity by making a smart comment about their jokes.
For those who want to go on to a four year school, this is the guy to take. Everything is based on 2 tests and a final. No hw to turn in or anything. He gives examples, and the rest is on you. This guy turns a dependant student into an independant genius, you have to work to earn your grade based on uc standards. If you want prep., take him

The worst professor ever, too proud of himself, tries to confuse from the very beginning, unfriendly and too cocky, teaches the subject, not the students, would never recommend him to my friends
damn this fool sucks..only 2 tests and a final..total 200 points...Very hard tests!! i wouldnt recommend him to anyone..take someone else please
i thought he was great and funny! relatively easy class.
He is unclear, confusing, hardly speaks English!!! I haven't learned a thing, if anything I am more lost! He is cocky and thinks he is all-knowing, DON'T TAKE HIM!!
can't understand him, thich accent
VERY confusing!!! He was nice and at times funny, but extremely hard to understand. The good thing was that there was never any homework and we got to use notes on the test, but the tests were SOOO hard.
horrible teacher...dont take him..worst teacher ive ever taken.
It was nice and all but if u get him plz dont take him during summer. He rushes through all the chapters and you dont get to use a calculator for test so his test are hard.
His lectures were confusing, couldnt understand most of the problems he was explaining. He could be funny but I dont think he explain things pretty well it could be just me but I took another class with a different teacher and I did better. In this class I failed so I didnt like it as much.
I dropped. On the first day he gave a real nice speech about how he'd make sure we understood the material. I was optimistic. After that, it was one unhelpful lecture after another. He'd then tell us to work on homework, sometimes even going outside and disappearing for a while. Seems like a nice guy, but if you have trouble in math don't take him.
he's tough, but this isn't high school math anymore!!! he's a college professor, and a damn good one. all of the complaints on this guy are from people that can't handle a hard teacher...good luck at a real college
Best Math teacher I have ever had in my life. I hate math, and no he didn't make me like it, but he made it understandable and tolerable. Math is one class you have to actually be there for and do all the work. If you can't handle a real college class quit while you are at ARC. He has a slight accent but not too bad. He will explain everything
hes a cool teacher, a little hard to understand. he allows you to bring notes for the test and it is multi choice. so if you mess up in this class, then your going to have problems in college.
he is a great proffesor doesnt explain much but he is funny!
He is an interesting character, he goes insane on the chalk board. It's amusing. The class isn't that difficult, but he does grade on a curve and I believe if you are on his good side you get a bit of leeway on your grade. So don't make him angry, make him like you!
He was an interesting teacher. You could tell that he was into what he was teaching. However it was difficult sometimes becuase it was like he expected you to understand everything he taught the first time around.
..disappointing. This guy is funny at first, in an abusive way; but it grows old. He’s contemptuous, disrespectful, and quite self-impressed (which is unwarranted as he's interpersonally challenged). Many bright students dropped his class. Teaching involves understanding a student's needs, and he doesn't want to be bothered with the students.
It is my opinion that a good teacher needs three important qualities; 1) knowledge of the subject, 2)communication skills, and 3)patience for your students. Mr. Abdul appears to have the knowledge (although he stumped himself a few times with some of his own practice problems), he is strongly lacking in the other two qualities. Do not take!
He's a great teacher. A little intimidating the very first day, but not at all after that. He's never trying to make students feel stupid by proving them wrong, he's just trying to help them understand WHY their answer is wrong. He's funny too. I highly recommend his class.
is a very good math teacher. first day of class might scare you, but hang in, it is worth it. he will "heal your mathematical wounds".
He is very funny and very knowledgeable about the subject.
IF YOU TAKE ANY ADVICE, TAKE THIS...DON'T TAKE THIS CLASS!!! HE IS THE WORST TEACHER I HAVE EVER HAD! FALLS ASLEEP IN CLASS. DOES NOT DO ANY EXAMPLE PROBLEMS. HE NEEDS TO GET A DESK JOB SO HE DOES NOT HAVE TO HELP ANYONE BUT HIMSELF.
I had him for the 2007 summer year for Alg II. The class literally had no homework and was based on three tests, having the third one dropped. There was no homework, but if you didn't do the homework it would be pointless because you wouldn't know the material to ACE the test. The key to doing well is to ask questions buy a solution manual andstudy
I took his math 100 and 120, he was a little hard to uderstand at first but you gte use to him. The people on here complaining about him not helping is crap, he will help you but you need to ask, he isn't a baby sitter. The tests are mutiple choice and you get a page of notes. I mean really how easy of class do you need.
funny, has an accent. dont' really care about anything
Personality wise he's funny. HE knows the subject but the way he teaches isn't very helpful. He abreviates almost everything in his notes making the subject harder to understand. Take this class ONLY if you have really really good studying habits.
Bad teacher, funny guy. Only take his class if you understand math well. Very quick paced.
Professor Alisher is a first rate intellect. His lectures are animated and full of relevant details usually glossed over by other teachers. He communicates his passion and interest in the subject to anyone who is the least bit attentive to his class. If I could take all of my college math classes from him I would.
Awesome! Best math teacher I've ever had. If you want to truly understand what you are being taught this is your guy.
I only recommend him if you understand the subject fully prior to taking his class. In his explanations of misunderstood things, he only repeats what he's been saying and gets louder with no help at all. The book has been more helpful than he has.
Different than other professors. Seems to know his subject but can't present the way so you can understand it. No homework, no quizes, just 4 tests at the end of semester. Does not care if you come or not. Hard to learn anything from him.
This teacher is not very good at all. His like always say common sense in his student especially I didn't learn anything in his class also we finish the book like 3 weeks before school is done and we dont do anything. I'm not gonna recommend this teacher for you:-(.He like to change the topic in the book.
Nice guy if you don't take things personally. He scares people. I think he's a good teacher, but most of my class is failing. He asks the class when they want the test to be. We wouldn't agree so he flipped a coin! He lets you have notes for the tests, but there's no homework or quizzes, so if you don't take scantron tests well, you will fail.
Awful teaching skills. Supposes we already know the material. Who in the right mind would take this if we knew the material. Very sarcastic... Class needs to be more organized and grades more spread out over the materials.... no homework, no quizzes, no extra credit... no nothing,... just 3 tests, toward the end of the semester, so you cant drop.
funny accent, hard to understand sometimes, will help if you ask for it. Dr. A is cool
One of the most confident teachers I have ever met in my life. Knows his subject inside out,he's got a PhD in math after all. Yes, he doesn't always present the material very clearly and can appear to be very sarcastic and scary at times, but the bottom line is he's an excellent teacher who will teach you everything you need to know.
HORRIBLE TEACHER! Just because you have your PHD in math doesn't mean you can teach it! I was a 4.0 student before taking his class and I got a 89.7%. Only 4 tests total of 200pts for a 5 unit class. what a joke. He does a lot of the work in his head so it's hard to follow what he's doing. He has a "I don't care, Im better than you attitude"
The professor is good and he is nice, i dont find him to be rude like the other students do, but the class is really hard. He teaches different then the book and i learn from reading the book so i get the questions in the book right but i do horrible ont he tests i just dont understand but i do like the professor i just wish i did better.
I took his class over the summer and I got a 'B' in his class! I bumped it up to a B on the last test.Could get an 'A'. Yes, he makes you feel the need to do homework for your own benefit. From the very first day of class he told us: "If you want to do good and get an "A" in this class then do all the homework!" You got a bad grade? Was ur choice!
Terrible teacher!
THE WORST TEACHER I EVER HAD... He doesnt explain AT ALL, you have to do everything on your own. Don't recommend him at all, unless you want a "D" or "F" in this class!!!!
This teacher writes everything in Arabic style right to left which makes it hard for Americans to comprehend. He plays on the internet. This teacher talks endlessly about his invention on oil spills. He is disrespectful to students. He speaks broken English. He cannot facilitate group work, and has no control of the classroom.
Very Nice Instructor and very very knowledgeable! Mr. Abdul has been teaching for around 31 years! Very Knowledgeable.
He gave me my first F ever. I went into the Final with a c+ and got an F in the class. He only does 4 tests and drops the lowest score then the final that is not accumulative and that is what your grade is bassed on. He writes from left to write and has an accent that is hard to understand. sometimes you can barely here him talk. I went to his clas
I have so much respect for professor Abdul. I took him for Calculus, and I have to say he was a very interesting teacher. This guy is a brain, he has been teaching for years. For lazy students, dont take him. If youre an actual student, you will learn tremendously. He is so knowledgable about everything. Highly recommend!!!
I just finish my math 120. Alisher is a good teacher,I like him. He is explaining things to us very good but if you don't understand something you need to ask about additional explanation.
I had this teacher for statistics very easy class but if you don't attend you may not do so good. His grading system is great
Very good teacher. First he'll teach you how then the Why! Excellent teacher.
This is the worst math teacher I've had at AR. He does not explain anything, just does proofs of theorems and you have to figure out the rest. Dont waste your time unless you like teaching yourself. Also, he finished the text 6 weeks early, the rest of the time he just sat there, did not review for the final, nothing. Complete waste of time.
Very funny and knowledgable!!! Lot's of experience teaching
He has 30+ years of experience teaching. He was very approachable and understanding. Truly cares about his students and wants them to succeed. Just a little hard to understand because of his accent. I highly recommend him. He is hot too!!!!!
Mr. Abdul is a genius!!! I have so much respect for him. If you really try and study, there is now way to fail any of his classes. I got an easy A. Thanks Abdul!
Abdul is passionate, funny, smart and very fair. Can be a little intimidating though. For all those lazy students out there, blame yourself for your failure! I got an A.
hes alright...his accent makes it kinda hard to understand but for the most hes okay...theres some dumb people in the class which makes it harder to actually learn something in there. his teachings can be different from other math professors so it can be difficult to adapt to his own methods! overall so far so good!
Dr. A is very approachable, understanding of circumstances, and the smartest guy in the world!!!! Use his office hours.... His whole family is smart and his kids....
Awesome teacher! Gave sample problems similar to problems on test to study. 3 tests, lowest score gets dropped plus final. Final is 50% of grade. Homework is not collected or graded. You can do it, or not. He slurs sometimes, and comes off scary at first, but is really a nice guy. Approachable. Helpful. Don't say anything stupid in his class.
Abdul was great. He really knows the subject well. His accent might make it hard to understand on occasion, but his written examples and clarifications are always very precise. Overall, I would take him again for another math class.
Would recommend if other algebra classes have confused you, teaches in a different way, often proves things, which helped me.Attend all classes and study notes.Interesting teacher, loves math, some interesting theroies...Kind of hard in some respects, but can be suprisingly helpful. He made me understand things I haven't in all my other math classes
he is a little different but i thought he was pretty cool. I hadnt been in schoolfor 10 yrs and was worried about taking a algebra2 class. No problem got a B and did very little home work. He can be intimedating to some not me. Plus he is always willing to help after class. Even when u are no longer in his class.
He is probably one of the worst teachers that I have ever had. I would highly recommend doing everything in your power to avoid taking his class. Even though I got an A in his class, I still feel the need to warn future students. He isn't helpful, isn't compassionate, and can be extremely rude. Brilliant mathematician, but terrible teacher.
He is the absolute worst teacher i have ever taken in my life. He calls his students stupid whenever we ask a question, he is unhelpful and you can not understand him. The entire class i just fely extremly put down and i had to constantly go elsewhere to find help. DO NOT TAKE HIM.
Well all of you that complain about his accent are either just came to the US or you are stupid enough to not understand him. Class is not hard if you will study. It is college not a elementary school, so come on people stop complain
although he can be hard to understand and intimidating,Mr.Abdul is very understanding. Use his office hours and be respectful. Stop complaining people!!!!!
He has personality and is brilliant. He knows his stuff. Doesn't use the text too much, but if you understand his concepts and keep up with homework, you will pass.
He is a brilliant math mathematician, funny, but gets too angry when people ask questions on what he is doing. Sometimes you feel lost, but if you take prerequisites you should be fine. His class has no homework, only 4 tests and the lowest one he drops, but if you fail the final you fail the class! He is also a CEO for a company that cleans oil!
Dr. A is super cool. Sure he's got an accent, and has a sharp personallity, but that adds to his charm. He does expect you to pay attention and ask questions, tho he isn't going to baby you if you ask something that he thinks you're smart enought to already know. Super smart guy!! Can wrap up a chapter in a day, getting straight to the point.
The book was basically useless in this class because it does nor prepare you for the tests. This was basically a class on which functions you should use on the calculator.
My Fav. Teacher. Very excited class and enjoyable class to be comfortable in. I pass this class with wings. Sometimes boring and sometimes laughable. Teacher is nice and cool. Come everybody don't be scare to take this class. You must see it for yourself rather than reading what everyone is saying here about the teacher listen to yourself.
Prof. A will teach you what he expects you to know for his exams. But tough overall syllabus. ~200 pts earned for the semester. Best 2 out of 3 MC exams, and 100 pts for the final based of 20 MC question exams. Little room for error. Assigns HW but doesn't collect, received an A but stressed! He does give EC points if you participate.
Super smart guy... use his office hours. Very approachable and understanding. He's got smart kids (son in med school, daughter in nursing school). Be prepared to work hard though...
Great experience. Enjoys to challenge students and enjoys being challenged by students. pay attention
He is hard but fair. Very understanding and approachable. He is hot, too. He he.
he has his funny moments and loves to be challanged
Worst teacher ever. Seriously, do not take this teacher. I had to teach myself Calculus because he is completely unwilling to help any of the students. While I may have received an A in the class, that's because the tutors in the LRC helped me. I even went to the dean about this teacher because he is literally that bad. AVOID HIM AT ALL COSTS!
horrible teacher. im good in math but i barely got a C in his class. mumbles nonsense all class long, hates it when someone asks a question, and gives you a pretty hard exam with topics he never talked about. The good thingis no homework anad only 4 exams (which is pretty much all your grades)
DONT TAKE THIS CLASS IF YOU ARE NOT GOOD AT MATH. He doesn't explain material in depth or go along with the book. However he does provide study guides. test are only 20 questions and his grading is 85% and up = A. but the final makes it a pass or fail course. only 2 quizs and 1 final for your total grade
Easiest math class I've ever taken HANDS DOWN! He assigns homework but doesn't expect it to be turned in. He gives a sample test with the exact questions that are going to be on the test, then he ets you have an 8X10 "Cheat Sheet" that you can put the sample test on and any other info you want. He's not super personable but who cares, he's EASY!!
Mr. A knows his math, but he fails at delivering the path to understanding it. His tests are not based on the book, so theres almost no point in doing homework. Taking his class felt like i shoulda known the material before hand. If you want to succeed in trig. DO not take this class. Do not waste a whole semester.
Amazing teacher, makes the entire class worth coming to
Very hard to understand. Goes off on tangents a lot. He very egotistical and condescending to students. He puts problems on the exams for "fun" that had nothing to do with lectures. Doesn't require or give homework so you can't practice either. If he does give homework he doesn't give feed back. He is very lazy with grading and answering questions.
Although Abdul is a great person to be around, his teaching style is very confusing. He does not follow the text yet assigns homework from it. He shows a concept once, shows many examples, and then expects the student to understand all there is to it without letting the student try step by step practice problems. It was a frustrating class.
I would recommend to take a different teacher if u actually want to learn something because his teaching style is weird, he uses symbols I have never seen and throughout the semester he explains math with them. I will get a good grade because his class is easy to pass without any work just 3 multiple choice tests, final and midterm.
amazing teacher definitely worth taking!!
Professor Abdul is an efficient lecturer. He can be hard to understand at times. The only time he accepts questions is when you have questions about what he just lectured on the day of the lecture only. He doesn’t answer homework questions. All work is done by hand, MyMath lab is not used.7368
He is so easy! He lectures over everything you need to know and gives multiple examples. If you take notes and do the homework you will get an A. Also, he is really nice and funny so I didn't totally hate coming to class
He didn't answer questions clearly, his tests were worth 50 points, with 10 questions, each worth 5 points. No partial points on questions. He used scantrons for tests and didn't look at your work.
Very helpful, but for the chapter 5 test, he dosen't follow the same solution examples in the book
He's a good teacher, really funny but not helpful in his office hours. His class was really easy for me because i took the same class in high school. i think i would've struggled if i was taking it the first time with him he's overly smart and think students know what he's talking about
His class is really easy and he's very funny too. The multiple choice exam was pretty shocking at first, but you'll get used to it.
You do not have to give effort. Super nice dude will pass everyone. He knows college students are very busy and does his best to give basically no work. (you can just bs the class)
Dr. A is an easy teacher, however he can come off as rude. He wouldn't answer questions when you asked them, and if you didn't understand something he would tell you that you are "bad at arithmetic." He always strays away from ad talks and argues about nothing for most the class. He's not a terrible teacher, but I wouldn't take him again.
Very funny, but has unusual teaching methods. I had a hard time following, & it was only a refresher course. Uses symbols most people haven't heard of before. does not explain math well.
Dr. A doesn't break things down and goes through material quickly, however he doesn't really check homework so as long as you turn something in you will get full credit. he doesn't put word problems on exams and they are multiple choice. he does not give credit for partial work. but as long as well on exams you will do well on the class.
didnt like his teaching style.
He talks a lot about things that are not related to subject like how to make money. I recommend other teacher if you can.
he's pretty nice and funny but his method of teaching isn't clear and he flies by topics really quickly. he doesn't refer to the textbook at all.
Very fun teacher, though needed to study in his class more than others. Also takes out the lowest exam. Overall I enjoyed his classes.
Very very good teacher! Funny and super knowledgeable.
I noticed in both of my classes with Dr. A that he appears intimidating to many, but he wants you to develop the proper reasoning skills required for STEM fields. You will be exposed to things you've never seen before, as he is very thorough with proofs. It's not just about memorization, it's completely understanding the theory behind it.
Took 6 week summer class, easy but pay attention! Professor is very funny & nice, helpful if you ask for help. Doesn't thoroughly explain new material just writes it all out on the whiteboard & expects you to understand unless you ask for help. Takes attendance everyday but it wasn't counted towards the grade. Tests are a little tricky, be careful.
Abdul Is really funny, unique, but funny. Don't take things he says personally he means no harm. His tests were all 10 questions. Goes over it the day before. Super easy even if you aren't very good at math. Very helpful if you want his help just ask. This class you will get what you want out of it.
Nice and funny guy however as a teacher he sucks. He goes off on tangents for the craziest of things for hours at a time, such as curing cancer. His lectures and problems he does in class do not relate to the book he uses AT ALL. When you ask him for help he just looks at you and expects you to understand it, does not explain anything. Do not take!
He is passionate about the subject and a self declared dictator.
Pro: Nice guy. You can use notes and test are multiple choice. Cons: He doesn't do examples at all. He teaches formulas and how he got the formulas, but doesn't teach how to use them or what specifically they're used for. If you're like me and need examples hes a no go. He also likes to contradict himself. Overall lots of problems I cant fit here.
He doesn't cover thing very clearly and never really bothers to explain things. Not a professor I'd take again.
He gives clear lectures but moves too fast at times. He is very knowledgable but you have to ask for help if you don't understand. You can use your notes on the tests which are multiple choice. Almost impossible to fail this class and if you don't understand just ask and you will do fine.
Only take Dr. A if you already know what he is supposed to be teaching you. He does not teach. He got going on his lecture so fast, he started doing calculus in an algebra class.
This professor was not my cup of tea. He has preassigned all homework and it's given in the syllabus. Sounds good at first but that makes it so much harder especially because he doesn't collect it regularly, only if someone mentions it. The tests use a scantron. I hate that, no half credit andthey are 100 pts and only 10 Q's very easy to fail.
Expects you to know material before you even start the class. I asked about PEMDAS and he jumped me for it. Not very helpful, as said by other students "self proclaimed dictator". I took the class to learn not to be humiliated in front of the class. This site is very useful, read other blogs as well. Not recommended, will never take his take him.
Passionate about the subject and very willing to help you reach a lasting understanding of the material.
He only derives the formulas, and does not actually teach how to use them. First test, class average was 52%. He says math is easy and the tests only take 10 minutes to do. It's only true for him. Does not follow the book, but also does not look at the homework too closely.
Extremely difficult class. A very unhelpful professor. Tests are multiple choice, 10 Q. No partial credit given. 2 Pop quizzes towards the end of the semester. I would only take this class if no other option. Allows notes on the exams and final, gives a study guide, but like i said, no partial credit. You HAVE to know the material before entering.
The worse math teacher I had so far. Lecture are confusing and fast. He shows you steps on how a formula relates to another formula, but you have no idea what that formula is used for. He skipped over an entire concept that was on the test and if I didn't independently studied, I wouldn't have known. He has a thick accent too.
i would not recommend this teacher at all, he is the reason why i now check ratemyprofessor before taking any teacher. Lectures were very confusing , and he made me feel stupid when i asked a question. I got C in his class, but it ruined my GPA ( highest honors), very disappointed.
No non-sense kind of guy. Can be a little intimidating, their are such things as stupid questions. Frequently gives "bonus points" for in class participation. Exams are multiple choice (no partial credit). Gives very detailed exam previews, and allows cheat sheet + in book equations. Has severe allergies, no perfume / cigarette smoke 0 tolerance.
This is the WORST teacher ever. I can't understand a single word he is saying. He is rude and calls his students out in front of the class. Class and material are easy if you already know it. But he is just unbearable.
Tough as nails, & that's a good thing. High expectations and clearly has taught at JC's for many years. Show him you care about your grade and that you're not just another kid trying to skate by and he will help you, but you have to earn it. Class is simple, lecture, homework, exams. I would take him again.
Doesn't give homework or assignments. Very ambiguous as far as test material goes. Instructions aren't clear. Huge ego. Doesn't care for your success. Tries to make jokes and only offends people, aside from not being funny in the first place. If you value your education don't take this professor
There are three tests. He drops your lowest score, and adds the highest two together to calculate your grade. Each test is worth 100 points. Exactly when the class starts he begins his lecture. During the summer course the class was three hours, and this man did the whole three hours lecturing. He doesn't use the book, and his tests are very hard.
He's really annoying, you can't understand him. He's rude as well. He tries so hard to be funny but is actually rude. Even said he can drop us and we have to use detergent with no scent which was annoying and stupid.
Horrible... I'm in his class and I have no clue on how he teaches still.. And we're five weeks in. If I could I'd drop this class without a W. It's too late for me. And he is rude. He makes your private talks in public rather than staying after class. He leaves before you can even finish packing up. He just doesn't care!
Unless you're an engineering or mathematics major, I would avoid this man's class at all possible costs. Your grade is entirely based off of 2 tests. We take three but he drops one. They are 20 questions multiple choice but incredibly hard. Even if this class fits your schedule PERFECTLY, please just find another class! Dont say I didnt warn you.
Professor A was helpful when you ask questions. I had a super early class and I still passed the course. Before the exam, he gives you questions that are on the test, but with different numbers. We get to use one sheet of paper for the exam. It's an easy A. If you don't know what you are doing, just ask him or others around you.
His jokes are bad :) But a sensible teacher who gives easy exam questions when the class is struggling. His lectures and questions posed are good for learning the materials indepth
He's an entertaining guy, makes the class laugh. But not a very effective teacher. Teaches fast, and does multiple choice exams. So no partial credit which can do a lot of damage to your grades. If you're not good at teaching yourself material outside of class, wouldn't recommend.
Terrible experience. Possibly the worst professor I've ever had. Isn't clear about anything. Also doesn't give any due dates which throws off how you work on your assignments. Would not recommend. In fact, avoid at all costs.
Dr. Abdul is great at math, but not good at teaching math. His philosophy, which he openly stated in class, is that if you aren't smart enough to learn the material on your own, you shouldn't be studying math. He insulted students and created a fear-filled classroom where students were were too afraid to ask questions. Avoid him.
He's someone that understands the material, but very poor at explaining how to solve problems. For the past 3 weeks he just has students do homework problems in class and then falls asleep at his desk and when someone asked why his answer was different to the one in the back of the book his response was "So what" Probably the worst teacher I've had
This class material is not hard. The teacher makes it hard because he does not teach. HIs lectures are strictly providing formulas and copying them down. Highly theoretical. He will chastise students for asking questions during lecture. He provides poor examples and gives the incorrect answers. all tests multiple choice no credit for work.
by far the worst college professor I have experienced. I If you have a hard time with math do not take him! even if it fits perfectly in your schedule, wish i listened to the reviews here. Rude, impatient, makes you feel dumb for asking questions, doesn't use the textbook, doesn't give homework to help you understand, unclear, shouldn't be teaching
Upon first impression he seems crazy and insensitive but that's just his sense of humor. He cares about students and wants everyone to succeed. He teaches the simplest way to solve problems. I failed math 120 with a different professor but this prof makes sense of math for me. I love this Professor!
I'm not very good at math maybe that's why this class is very hard. I felt as though I couldn't ask any questing because he would put students on the spot. His lectures where fast and funny. He cares about helping all students pass and gave extra time to some that needed it for exams and homework.
He cares about his students as long as you show you intend to do well in the class. At first seems harsh and dismissive, but actually is a really helpful teacher. Also does not want students to pay for textbooks, so we didn't need any for our class (it was a free pdf download). The man's a genius, talk to him after/during class about his life.
The worse professor I've ever had in my entire college career. Lesson prep -Copies from book and writes expressions on the board, that's it -Expression examples aren't clear -Doesn't help students understand formulas clearly -Strikes up personal conversations unrelated to mathematics while solving formulas -Leaves class early -Ladies, he is gross..
He may know math but he cant teach. He goes very fast and it is impossible to learn anything in his class. You basically need to teach Calc 3 to yourself. Avoid.
Nice guy, but he was not a good teacher. His lectures were fast and confusing, would quickly scribble notes on the board and then tell the class to copy it. Graded on tests (4 total, but 2 are dropped, all multiple choice), homework, and the final, which was 20 questions, multiple choice, and worth 40% of our grade.
Students I saw struggle were the ones who didn't come to class, didn't take notes or just didn't care. Ask questions if you don't get it, he gladly helps everytime and wants to see you succeed. VERY flexible, very personable, has a few rules but they are very reasonable. If you try, you know like an adult would, you can score an A, solid professor!
He is unbelievably good at math. But when it comes to teaching, he is sorely lacking. He tells you that your wrong incorrect in the rudest way, and it can be humiliating. He tries to have a sense of humor, but it comes off as purely insensitive(and I like dark humor.) He gives you a free link for the text book for homework but never teaches from it
Its easy to get a bad grade on his exams, because each exam is only 20 multiple choice questions. Lots of homework. He doesnt use any technologies so its almost impossible to contact him. To know your grade you have to ask him because he keeps it on his paper.
This professor is pretty kind as a person and he would be ok with your absences, but his lectures are boring and he does not explain material clear. For me being in this class was useless. I passed it with B, but being honest I did not get any knowledge. I would recommend to take another professor!
Exams are multiple choice but pretty hard because answers are very similar to each other. Teaching is mostly done through lectures so you have to show up, he doesnt take attendance. You most likely wont learn anything though
I really liked this professor once I got used to his sense of humor. He is very good at math and makes you work for it. Often he will skip the simple parts of a problem like combining terms, but this is for you to figure out and make the lectures less passive. The tests were multiple choice, which seems easy at first but there is no partial credit.
4 exams, 100 points each but drops lowest (300 points), final (200 points), homework (100 points). 1st exam & final were 20 questions, 5 points each. Exam 2, 3, & 4 were 10 questions, 10 points each. Exams are multiple choice, no partial credit. On average only 3 people passed each exam, the class average was 55%. Must do homework to pass the class
I had this class last year. Even I received an A, I highly recommend you don't take this class. The professor is a very easygoing person and he tells lots of jokes. But when it comes to lessons, he is never clear on the materials taught in class. To understand lessons you should search online and watch many videos to fully understand it.
Alisher is a very nice guy. Easygoing and fair. Knows his math, but not an effective communicator. All exams are multiple choice and every question has "none of these" as an answer (this messes with your head). If you are self-taught, take him as a last resort. If you value your education, invest your time and money with a different instructor.
Horrible teacher. Doesnt explain what hes doing. Its like teaching yourself math. I need a teacher because Im not the best at math. If I could drop out and switch to a different professor I would. He stresses me out. He is not prepared what so ever. You are sitting on zoom for a good 20 min before he starts.
Professor Abdul is funny, and his class is easy, you dont need to buy a Book, he will tell you to download an app where his book is free, take his class!
On each test he gave there were obvious incorrect answers. Since it was math there was only one correct answer yet the answers set as the correct ones were clearly wrong. When I addressed it with him he said he would check it out and did absolutely nothing. He was super difficult to understand in the lectures, even the subtitles didnt know.
Abdul is a horrible lecturer: he copies straight from the textbook during lectures and simply answers questions terribly. He would constantly give attitude to students asking questions. Tests were sometimes pretty difficult, but they're multiple choice . Rather than using lectures, use Professor Leonard on YT to learn material, and you'll pass.
His class is really simple and there are 4 exams and I final and they are all 20 questions on all of them, even the final. There is a lot of homework but it is easy to do. If I tried harder I would have gotten an A but this was an easy class. He's a great professor.
I took his online class and he is not helpful instructor. He does not care about students at all, He does not communicate with students even if you need help. exams does not mach with textbook. you need to learn by your self. I do not recommend Alisher Abdul to any body whose major is Mathematics. please go take someone else who know pedagogy.
Graded on the top two tests out of four total. Lectures are hardish to follow and I had to use a lot of outside lectures. Would not suggest taking this class unless 100% necessary.
I would not recommend this prof if it's your first time taking this course (you won't learn anything fully). His lectures are confusing and his tests only includes the basics (you won't be ready for math 401 or the next courses). Outside resources come in handy when it comes to studying for his class.
Lectures are straightforward. A few examples then off you go. But with all engineering and math courses the recipe to success is the same: practice alot. I used YT a lot to help understanding. He's responsive and pretty understanding. He's a decent choice.
Honestly, you don't learn much from him. However, if you need an easy A, he's the one to take!
NEVER TAKE THIS INSTRUCTOR. He doesn't care about his students. He doesn't care whether you pass or fail. He has no interest in helping you if you're struggling. His lecture videos were broken. His syllabus information was incorrect. Answers on his quizzes were wrong and had to be corrected by students. Worst online course I've ever taken.
Prof Abdul is highly intelligent and respected. He conveyed complex abstractions (for me at least) from the text in a way that was clear and thorough with adequate examples. Differential equations are just a different animal and truly stretch your range of calculus understanding. Put in the work and take all the exams, and he dropped lowest scores.
No interaction with students at all. Never sent any announcement or reminder. Never showed up for his own office hours even after multiple emails about it. The lecture videos were in bad quality both audio and pictures. Changed his syllabus after 2 weeks in without notice to students. Hw graded by completion. 4 exams10 questions/exam, drop 1 exam.
He reuses lecture videos from the past and they are just the worst quality. There's a lot of homework to compete, but you until the test to turn it in. There are twenty questions on the exams and they're fairly easy if you understand the concepts. Overall, his lectures were not helpful at all and I had to rely on the textbook and other resources.
This teacher was nice, funny and very smart during class. I think my only issue was the amount of homework and relearning I had to do. I had to ask questions and make study groups to try to figure out what was happening more than other classes. Maybe thats a good thing? I dont know lol
the worst asynchronously online class I've ever had. pointless & dilettante video lectures. He doesn't check the correctness of yr HW. U R responsible for yr self-teaching which is very very tedious, and time-consuming. If you want to challenge yourself & have free time, go ahead. Otherwise, don't even think of taking his online class.
Professor is unreachable and has no interaction with the class except to auto grade assignments. His lectures online were unreadable and hard to understand. He needs to revamp the way he does his class or find another job.
Absolutely no help did not even make an assignment date for homework, we are 7 weeks into the semester and closes homework before releasing the test. None of the students can figure out how to do the homework. Do not take this class thinking it will be an easy A, I'm just praying to pass.
Highly do not recommend taking him. He's 0 percent involved in the class. His lecture videos are super old and filmed on a very old camera. You essentially have to teach yourself in this class.
The lectures he gives are pointless. I have been teaching myself everything on my own. Even then, I have a C right now because I failed the first two tests. Don't bother buying the textbook because the answers and problems are available online for free. There are only 5 hw (chp 2+3, 4 and 5) and 4 tests (test on chp 2+3,chp 4,chp 5 and the final).
If you have to take his class, I'm so sorry. This is the WORST math professor ever. Lectures hard to understand, he never followed his own syllabus, no due dates on any assignments and exams are worth majority of your grade and are difficult to solve cannot use any outside sources. We made a discord to survive his class, I suggest you do the same.
HORRIBLE PROFESSOR! One more week til the semester ends, and the very start of the class he does not follow HIS OWN SYLLBUS! Gave us chapters 1 and 2 homework, never got chapters 3 and 4 until AFTER the midterm which was on chapters 1,2,3, and 4. Doesn't respond to students, and his exams are super difficult!! DON'T TAKE THIS PROFESSOR!!!!
The only reason why I gave a 2 is that I forgot to take Exam 1, but he gave me mercy and let me retake it at the end of the semester. I would've been so screwed, but otherwise horrible professor. You must constantly check when stuff is due since it isn't on Canvas, and he doesn't tell you your grade until the end.
Professor Abdul is quite knowledgeable, but the class is challenging. Attend lectures, use the textbook, and try unstuck study for extra study help. Grading is fair - drop the lowest exam score.
Professor himself is so nice, but the workload is absolutely insane. The lectures did not match the homework, and was just not good at teaching it to you. He was more so talking to you like someone who has already graduated. Had to get tutoring 2-3 times a week and a passed by the skin of my teeth. Hw was 12 parts for one question, w 8-24 question
Shows little to no interest in students. Provides all work upfront, includes lectures that seem like he's just reading off the textbook. You have to pay $100 to do the hw on Pearson. Exams every couple months. Might be an easy A online, but it was very difficult to learn anything with him
Haven't learned anything this entire semester because his online presence is pretty much not there and the lecture videos are very old. However, if you are good at teaching yourself and use outside sources this class can be very easy. Honorlock wasn't used but the homework assignments can be lengthy and tests are typically 10 questions.
Horrible professor. This college really hires anyone don't they. He was MIA the entire semester and posted old lectures that weren't very helpful when it came to solving homework problems and exam questions. He never responded to any emails I sent either. DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR!
This is more of a teach yourself type of class. No partial credit on exams since they all multiple choice.
He didn't participate in the class at all and his lecture videos were pretty unhelpful, hard to watch, and appeared to be 5 years old. After the final exam, my grade was a 89.93% and when I asked him about rounding it up, he just completely ghosted me and did not respond.
Professor did not go to office hours, respond, or do anything. He was so lazy that the stuff said Spring 2025 despite having been taken Summer 2025 and his lectures were largely incomprehensible. He's found an infinite money glitch. Is this fraud? I genuinely have no idea how he was hired. Easy if you want an A, but you teach it all to yourself.
Awesome professor. Does not demand too much and assigns coursework that is relevant to each exam. Answers every question if assistance is needed. Would take his class again if needed.
Get ready to purchase an online textbook for approximately $150. There were about 100 to 150 questions every two weeks. Other than that, the tests were easy and all similar to the practice questions. Grades are based on the three tests and five homework assignments. Overall, his class was fairly easy as long as you paid attention to the lectures.
