Avoid this instructor at all costs. Knows her stuff but cannot teach it. I took her in her first semester here.
HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE. She Cannot teach at all. She knows her stuff sure, but whats the point in teaching if you cant explain it. She rushed through subjects. When explaining a problem, she would use incorrect values for variables and incorrect methods ON PURPOSE, then ask you what is wrong. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS FROM HER!!!!!!!!!!!!!PLEASE!!!
she cannot teach at all. she is the worst math teacher ever

Unclear teaching, Rushed through subjects, Unfair grading at times. Class average was a 63 last semester and she refused to curve the grades. You'd hear her say to many students in one class period "Your making it harder than it actually is"...if she has to say that alot, then it is her teaching, not the students making it harder.

She was horrible. When I went to her for help on problems she told me to figure it out by myself. and when i told her i had she would tell me something completely useless and send me on my way. Awful teacher. There are so many complaints against her, i dont know why she is still teaching...very few people passed her class.
Nice teacher but not very good at teaching. Never comes to class with answers to class problems. Have taken notes for 20+ min just to mark them out when she realized she was wrong. Nice to look at though.
Rushed through subject material, answered few questions related to assignments. Ambiguous directions accompanied by strict grading. Meeting her expectations on assignments will be difficult unless you have an excellent proficiency in mind-reading.
Ms. Schubert has difficulty teaching, doesn't explain concepts. Did not answer questions properly. I had to read the textbook and try to teach myself. Finally dropped the class. I have always made A's or B's in math until this class.
Avoid at all costs. Horrible math teacher. Gives formulas and examples no explanation of the concepts or theories behind the math.
Its a very very hard subject compared to prior math classes, but compared to prior math teachers I've had, she great! Most students aren't prepared for this class (it's A LOT harder than 171) but if you do ALL the homework, it is possible to do good. One good thing about her is she really seems to love math which makes class fun!
AVOID TAKING THIS TEACHER. Things she does to help only confuse you more and thats IF she helps you instead of laughing and saying do it on your own. She knows math really well but has NO CLUE how to teach it or explain it to others
Horrible! Please do not take her class if you want a good average!
I swear, she even fails smart kids that she doesn't like. She will find a stupid reason to explain why your answer was wrong. No mater what you do, do not take her!!!!
DON'T TAKE HER. I DON'T CARE IF IT'S THE LAST CLASS AVAIL. You will be on your own in this class. During math lab we had people cry because they didn't understand and she didn't try to help. She seems much more concerned about a paycheck than helping people learn.
I have taken many online classes, including math classes and this was by far the worst professor at Wake Tech I have ever had, she does not explain anything at all. When you ask her a question she never will give you a straight answer or help you see where you went wrong. Her tests are non-calculator mostly and a couple you can use with a calculato
I can do any problem that she gives but i correct her 2-3 times per class on simple things she is a terrible teacher that slightly knows the subject but a high school student could teach a more comprehensible class than she can. By the way, she looks like a bus ran her over and then put it in reverse and hit her again.
If you have questions, she'll tell you to ask other students or consult the book. If you're curious about your grade, she'll just say that you're wrong. Instead of explaining how to solve missed problems on exams, she simple writes a "?" beside your answer. Most test problems have nothing to do with homework/labs/quizzes. Do NOT take her course.
She almost made me change my major just so I wouldn't have to deal with her. She won't discuss your grade, never discusses assigned homework, quizzes, or tests, assigns writing projects without use of math terms, and you will want to pull your hair out when you tell her your problem and she laughs that annoying laugh. Seriously, don't take.
She is by far the worst teacher I've ever had. So bad, in fact, that when I found out she was the only professor teaching MAT 272, I completely changed my entire schedule to work around not taking her. She is awful, DO NOT TAKE HER.
I am sorry to see that I am not the only one who thinks Ms. Schubert is not an effective teacher. She is not mean, but she does not know how to teach. She is all about teaching yourself. The textbook was awful and she is a very strict an unfair grader. Unrealistic expectations. The material was extremely confusing and did not clarify anything.
WHY IS THIS PERSON ALLOWED TO CONTINUE TO TEACH? SHE MAY BE A NICE PERSON; SHE MAY BE SMART; BUT SHE IS NOT A GOOD TEACHER. THIS LEVEL OF MATH REQUIRES SOMEONE WITH MORE EFFECTIVE TEACHING SKILLS.
Miss Schubert is an intelligent, helpful teacher. She doesn't hand out answers like people want -- she helps you find the answer yourself. Remember to do lots of homework in the book and apply yourself. She's eager to make sure everyone understands -- just ask questions! Lazy, stupid people don't do well in her classes, but is that a surprise?
This class was incredibly fast paced and we did not review any assignments after they were completed. I found her teaching style very difficult to follow. It is obvious that she knows her stuff, but she has a difficult time transmitting that info to those who aren't naturally inclined to math. She is very nice and willing to help.
Just take any other professor or dont take this class. She will not help outside of class. Almost 2/3 of the class dropped and im sure half of the students remaining will fail because of her teaching.
If you want to take this class with this person you have to have a master degree in math first to take the class with her.. I got F and my average was about 70 and i got 98 in the project.. DO NOT TAKE ((IT))
She teaches the class, and that is pretty much it. If you ask a question, you'll almost always be told to look it up or ask the ILC, no matter how simple it would be for her to answer you directly. She very often made mistakes on the board. She does not give an extreme amount of work, but gives very short deadlines. I would not recommend her.
She is a terrible teacher. Confusing and grades irrationally. The only good comment you see on this page was very likely written by herself. Oh yes, I'm serious.
Ms. Schubert is a very strict grader. She is helpful in class and has office hours. The ability to comprehend her is normal. I think her biggest down fall is her grading strategy. She holds her students to her level, so her expectations are unrealistic. Unless you are a very diligent student I wouldn't recommend taking her.
She has a double standard for how she makes errors then passes it off..when a student errs, it is severely graded. Her method of deductive teaching may work for a 400 or 500 level course, but not for 100 or 200 level course. Avoid this Instructor like the plague.
She is hesitant to answer questions in class. She is extremely harsh when she grades and often makes mistakes on the board and penalizes students harshly when they make them. Avoid this teacher at all costs!
I wanted to believe that everyone who rated this instructor down was only complaining and being immature but I was slapped in the face with a reality check when I got the results from my first grade. I am going to drop the class before this gets uglier. She knows Calculus very well but she doesn't teach. All she does is explaining how to do a probl
I would not recommend her. When students asked a question in class, her favorite reply was "read your book, that is what your book is for." She would redirect to another topic, or answer in a way to make you look stupid in front of the class for asking a question, and your question is still unanswered.
Horrible teaching techniques. She relies more on other students sharing knowledge with eachother than teaching it herself. I HATE THIS CLASS. If it wasnt for ou-tube I wouldn't have learnd anything. Answers questions with questions. Sighn up early and avoid Allison Schubert!
Mrs. Schubert presents material in a confusing and complicated manner. Her grading standards are extremely high and I do not feel that she adequately prepares students for her exams or homework assignments as evidenced by the amount of student that drop her class, which she advocates for.If she was a plate of food I would throw it back at the chef.
DO NOT TAKE!! Save yourself months of frustration. She teaches the class as if everyone should already know the material. Instead of answering questions, she relies on students to teach other students while she grades homework from other classes. She doesn't prepare her students for the homework or exams. Avoid this "teacher" like the plague!!!!
DO NOT TAKE! Schubert does not care about her students, or if they learn anything. She does not prepare student for tests and her "review" consists of 15 confused and irritated students asking questions while she does "administrative" work. DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS!!!!! I dont understand why she has a job?
She is horrible.. favorite line is "well, what do you think?" when anyone asks her a question.. and if you get it wrong, she says "not quite.." She does not teach and her assignments are nothing like the test . does not prepare you for test at all.. i got 100s on everything but failing grades on test. horrible teacher. don't take her.
She really pushes you to figure things out on your own, she won't hand answers to you. The class isn't hard if you aren't used to being hand held through math.
If you want the math lab to teach you the class, good luck!!
Is not very helpful. Answers are confusing and really wants you to "figure things out on your own" or "the book has many problems that can help you out." Also is very slow with getting back to your emails. Does a lot of classwork involving group work.
She was alright I guess, I think it's just a hard class overall. There's a lot of material to cover in a short amount of time.
Do not take this class, she does not want to help the students. She answers questions with questions. My class, calc 2, is already an extremely difficult class and you should take a teacher who actually wants to help you learn.
Do not take this teacher! She does not take anytime to answer questions for her students and tells her students if you need any help see her during office hours. Even when you do go to her office she still doesn't know how to explain things. I've always loved math, but this teacher made learning math extremely difficult.
Mr. Schubert is not a good teacher. She is not very helpful and gives no grace. The class itself was not very hard for me. I dropped the class because of the tests. You have to have correct interpretations or else the entire problem is wrong. And their were two finals that conflicted majorly with my other classes.
You think she's tough as the class goes on. She won't do your homework for you but she is a great teacher. She will also have you prepared for the next level in math. The class I'm taking now makes math 161 look like pee wee football.
Worst Math Teacher I have ever had my entire college career! Miss much of class due to Snow days, her solution to not move the test was to post Youtube Videos and yourself at home. I understand pushing students to take initiate to find information on their on but she is EXTREME. She answers questions with questions. Wasted my Tuition and Time.
She is the worst teacher ever. Her office hours are a big waste of time. Every time you ask a question she sidetracks it with something else. she gives a lot of assignments ( I get this bc to get math you have to practice it). I'm only passing this class because I have prior precalculus knowledge. If you want to pass PreCalc AVOID ALISON SCHUBERT

She wasn't the worst teacher ever. I passed the class with an A, but luckily I'm good at math. But majority of people dropped before the end of the semester. A lot of webassign, and she grades pretty tough.
I took her class online and the first few weeks I had to withdraw ! I wouldnt recommend her if you're planning on taking this online , she wasnt there to help with anything , we mostly communicated through the discussions on blackboard and it was just terrible ! unless you're really confident with math I wouldnt suggest her online class.
Allison is an extremely tough grader and even more unforgiving when she does not answer your direct emails to questions. I had a 97 before the tests and dropped because of test 1 and 2, mostly due to not putting f(x) and silly mistakes like that. She doesn't offer any extra credit and only had 30 min of office hours a week. DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS.
Last year, about 2/3 of our class dropped and VERY few students remaining passed, and I was one of them fortunately. This is because she is too harsh of a grader, and with the two group projects we had, we weren't allowed to ask anyone, but our group members, for any help at all. She expects students to already know the material or have other
students if they need help. One time, we had a class assignment and I had no idea how to do it. Instead of going over the assignment, we already had to pass them to her without her teaching the material. She has difficulty explaining things and when I ask her a question, i would often be sent to students, ILC, or her office hours. Don't take her!
1/2 of our class already dropped because of her. I started with a B until I received my grade for my first test. No matter how hard I try or how long I hang at the ILC, nothing is ever good enough. I want to withdraw before it gets nastier. Save your frustrations and avoid her and math/science online classes.
She loves trick questions and taking off points for "style errors" which she doesn't talk about in class. She gives a LOT of online homework, but it only counts for 10% of your grade, and she has it due all at once, or has homework due right before a test, the contents of which aren't on the test.
I would not take this class ever again. She was the worst teacher I have ever had at Wake Tech and is the reason I have to redo this class. She was not helpful and did not review the material well. I would never take her class again and I would recommend that nobody else takes this class.
She doesn't prepare students for the tests. She focuses on material that will only make up a small part of the test, and sometimes neglects to cover certain things in class. She expects students to learn a lot of the material through the online homework but she assigns so much that it is difficult to finish and look over before the tests.
I have never rated a professor, but I am making an exception to come here to warn you. She is the worst professor I have ever taken a class with. She grades way harder than she needs to, she doesn't prepare you for the tests, she is the least helpful person when it comes to explaining concepts clearly... the list goes on and on. DONT TAKE HER!!!
This is the worst experience I have ever had with a teacher. I have had tough graders but this is above and beyond. She doesn't give any feedback even with labs until after your test. So, you don't know if your even doing it right. Doesn't answer most e-mails. The online class seems like an afterthought/annoyance. I can't believe I paid for this.
I've never been so convinced or rather misled that something could not be understood but had to be memorized. I imagine Calculus II would already take more time than most other classes up to this point... Don't add a modifier that exponentially decreases benefit per time spent.
Professor Aydlett teaches everything well, gives good feedback, and grades fairly. Lots of short homeworks and group projects so you see the material more. Calc 2 is a tough class. You should expect to spend several hours a night studying.
She is a tough grader and inconsiderate. One example is test papers are corrected by someone else then she goes over them. I forgot to put a +C on what was otherwise a correct answer. The first checker deducted 2 pts. then she deducted 2 more. I got 2 out of 6 for my answer while other profs. might give you 2 pts. credit just by trying. I dropped.
You can never ask her for any help and when you do she tells you to go to Kahn Academy or Youtube. When she grades she takes off "math grammar" points which were never discussed in class. Also, she does not give partial credit for knowing how to do the question but just missing a sign and got a wrong answer. Definitely, recommend not taking her!!!!!
This is one of the most challenging classes I've ever had to take. Prof Aydlett does a fine job for the most part, but there is a ton of material to go over and it's all taught at a breakneck speed. Be prepared to put in some real time studying if you want to get a good grade in this class.
there are a bunch of things I could say about this professor but just trust me do not take this with this professor the course is already challenging if you are not the best at math and she does nothing to help. switch or drop to another math class if you can
If yall want to spend your whole semester fighting to barely make a C this is the professor for you. She gives out so much busy work and warm ups that are graded each class even though we just learned it. Before you know it youll be a a D in the class by the end of the week.
She "helps out" in developmental math with student questions. Spends most of the class talking & distracting another teacher, teacher keeps trying to give her vibes that shes busy but she never takes the hint. Students including myself, put their hands down when they see her coming. Makes you feel stupid can be a bit rude. Doesn't explain things.
Really wishing I had read all these other ratings before taking her class a second time. I will most likely be having to take MAT 172 a third time. I dropped the class early the first time around and I am thoroughly regretting it. Avoid this professor like the plague.
Even though I passed, I was not happy with my grade and felt it was not reflection of the work that I did but her teaching. She does not grade fairly and gave a 1/11 for a small mistake. She answers your questions with questions. Please do not take her class you will feel defeated no matter how hard you work.
She does not prepare you well for the tests, and she gives graded assignments before you even cover the topic. I got tutoring from a former NC State math professor, and my highest test grade was still a C. The labs and tests are 10x harder than any other material given in class or as homework. Only take this class if you want a D within a week.
Literally I asked if my answer to a classwork assignment was right and she wouldn't give me a clear answer if I was right or wrong (I was right). Does not prepare you for the webassign homework & tests. Has "guided notes" that make it almost impossible to study with because you're learning the material as you go so you're copying & not learning
Honestly, probably one of the worst "Professors" I have ever had. Using the term "Professor" to describe her is probably derogatory to all others of that title. She doesn't know half of the things that she teaches and constantly gives out work to be graded, covering topics we don't know about. Really don't recommend her.
This professor is the worst I've ever had. She is unnecessarily harsh on grading and will ask you to complete graded assignments on material never covered. If you care about your GPA steer clear of this class. The only reason I am passing is because I spend 15+ hours a week in the ILC. DONT REGISTER WITH THIS PROFESSOR!!!
The online "lessons" are a textbook filled with examples and videos of professors her job for her. our assignments are downright a joke. we were forced to use onenote a terrible program that's difficult to use in which she graded everything very harshly generally with NO FEEDBACK! many assignments had no clear instructions coupled with no feedback!
Here's the thing, she gives you 2 lessons per week, before you see the lesson, you need to explore the subject, look at the lesson and go back to answer more questions in a revision, do an explanation of the subject, then do a homework. All of this for every single lesson and all of these are graded assignments. Here's the lesson, figure it out.
Imagine providing YouTube videos to teach pre-calc and still having your job. She's a joke; this is by far the hardest class I've taken and not because the content is strenuous or difficult but because the teacher is like a dead beat dad who left to go get milk ten years ago. Avoid her like the plague, if she's your only option don't bother.
You are not going to know what your weighted grade is for the course until the end of the semester. There are many pointless assignments throughout the semester, there are no lectures, only youtube videos from other creators and professors. Don't ruin your GPA, DO NOT TAKE ANY COURSES WITH HER!!!
