She is an excellent prof who does her best to ensure you understand all the concepts. Be warned, you might think things are going good in the class, but don't underestimate the exam. On the midterms, you could slide by studying for a couple days, but you better know how to synthesize the ATOMIC BOMB in order to pass the final!!! Well not exactly...

She is an amazing prof! I find it unfortunate that she made the final for this year IMPOSSIBLE compared to the final exam in 2007. I didn't find this years final to be fair at all. Which is unfortunate because she is incredibly nice and very helpful. Will always answer questions and wants everyone to do well (well except for this years final).

Tests are challenging but doable.

Amazing prof! She takes her time to explain the material very clearly and makes sure that everyone (or mostly everyone) understands before moving on- which is rare in university, especially for a first year 200 person science class. Je n'ai jamais détesté la chimie plus qu'après ce cours. L'examen final était très difficile et je trouve que ce cours n'est pas nécessaire pour mon programme. Though I did every assignment (repeatedly), attended every lecture (scored 95% on ACE assn) I did very poorly in the course. She picked every obscure example she could find.Look out! Not easy at all!!

I agree with several of the comments below. Flynn is a decent lecturer, however as a prof she puts too much emphasis on problem-based learning leaving those of us who are not natural chemists scratching our heads. The final looked like nothing that was given to us on assignments and was made intentionally difficult to sabotage the final class %.

She seemed to be a nice enough person. Lectures were entertaining and notes were clear. However the midterms and final were unpredictable - not like the assignments. Though professor Flynn is a good prof, I felt that her expectations for the class on the final exam were not well conveyed. Her practice final was a joke compared to this year's final. She adapted SO well to the online troubles of COVID-19. Her marking scheme was so reasonable and I really loved attending her classes (even though the problems she covered were easier than the exams). I did worse than usual on the 1st midterm and I thought that was it, but the 2nd mt and final went super well and I was able to get 97% final mark

Dr. F is such a kind and caring prof. She does a flipped classroom style (watch vids on content on your own then practice in class). Her exams were really fair and there was an optional group portion which was nice. You're weighted by a lot of things (quiz, participation etc). I don't usually do well in chem but I got an A+ in her class.

Research between the English and the French Chem section shows that the French section is significantly easier than the English section. Dr. Flynn provides easy examples in class but tricks students on most questions on her lengthy exams. French exams by Dr. Keillor reflect what was taught in class. Skips over hard questions in class. Videos are useless for learning. Does not teach whatsoever, classes are practically a dgd. I aced Orgo I and did mediocrely in Orgo II because of her exams and teaching style. She needs to start reflecting what she teaches on exams. If hard content will be on the exam, she should go over harder examples.

A professor who wants us to do well. Alot of content unfortunately relies on self-teaching but not too bad so far. Gives so MANY past exams and follows similar patterns so you walk into tests knowing approximately what to expect. Anyone who did bad in 1311, i did too, and 1321 is raising my gpa.

She is honestly in my opinion not a good professor. Her whole teaching style is only doing problems, there is no structure and no lessons. She just does problems without explaining the topic properly so it is very easy to get lost. This might work for a few people, but not for me. I wouldn't recommend

You really need to put in the work for this course. The TA's deserve so much credit also - everyone in charge of this course is so helpful and approachable - literally all just want you to succeed, they're SO patient. The labs are super easy though - much easier than gen chem.

The best chemistry prof at uOttawa. Very fair exams. Very kind and approachable after the lecture and during office hours. Do the practice sets and past exams that she provides, and you will do well!

Nice + wants students to do well. Fair midterms, the final was harder though. Only complaint is every week u had to watch 1-2 hours worth of videos along with the lectures which were practice. If u didnt have time to watch the vids u were lost in the lectures + on tests. Hard to study for the final since I found the brightspace to have sm material.

She obviously wants her students to succeed and is passionate about chemistry, but I found she's not a great professor during the lectures. She would often sort of assume the students knew some of the concepts without actually teaching it (like steric hinderance and inductive effect for example) and her lectures consist primarily of doing examples.

lectures are very example heavy and midterms were fair. However, her brightspace is extremely crowded/confusing There were 1-2hrs of mandatory videos(which led to quizzes) which many students simply did/do not have the time for. The final was atrocious as well, there were extremely hard questions unlike those on the midterm/in class examples. Mid.

she is your best chance of passing orgo I. Weekly quizzes and participation to boost your grade. The midterms are reasonable but her lectures are more like group discussions and aren't very organized. Very friendly and wants you to do well and understand the content

She cares so much for you that if you don't do well in the class you will actually feel bad, because you know it was all you and not her. So many grade boosters and the tests and exam are so fair. Her and the TA's are always available to help through slack and DGDs. Do her practice questions and use OrgChem101 to practice. U will do well I promise

Honestly, not the best professor, but a very kind person. You'll need strong outside resources if you're aiming for a high grade. Her classes were a bit disorganized, and it was sometimes hard to follow. That said, her midterms and finals were very fair, and she's open to answering questions.

She gives you videos at the start of the week to watch, then you go over practice problems in class, so you're already decently prepared and know what to expect for midterms and the final. The evaluations are very fair, just do the practice problems and pay attention to what she says to study. Great prof.

Professor Flynn was a very helpful and caring professor. The course can be difficult but she does her best to help everyone understand and pass by many opportunities. She was always happy to answer questions and had an exciting attitude for lectures, which made the class interesting. I recommend as she provides many resources for practice and help.

She's really nice and positive, but can be pretty vague at times. Easy to get a good mark. Participation is monitored and the lab is also pretty easy. You have to practice A LOT to do well in this course, and pay strong attention to her past midterms/exams to study from.
