this professor is not someone u want to sit and listen to for 50 min. Shes boring and doesnt grab your attention, she uses emaculant and reads off notes all class time. To study for a test we will be taking she'll go over all the same material we had went over during the week.. not JUST the material on the test, so u have to guess whats on the test
She knows what she is talking about but can make it boring. I took her in the summer and i was bored most of the time but if you want an easy A then go for it. She's not bad it's the material that sucks. Its alot to learn in a short period of time.
For ART 100 & 103. Holmes is kind of a dork and she makes class fun. DO NOT BUY THE BOOK!!! You don't need it. One out of class report, have to go to a museum, follow here instructions and its easy. I got 53 out of 50 points possible. Not boring! must show up for the review, reads directly off of the test. Tests are pretty easy too. No Home Work!!!
She is a sweetheart. I enjoy the class very much. She is a bit of a dork, but it makes the class fun. As long as you take good notes, you will pass with no trouble. And the reviews of the previous class's material before going further into lecture is helpful. Plus she's not bad looking.
She is awesome!
the book is not required. To get an A all you need to do are take notes, listen to her test prep lecture, and do one museum paper (3 1/2 page. she will give a guide line). Tests were ez. Take her class. EZ A.
Crystal clear in lectures, she's a goober but in a cute kinda way. She knows her stuff and has traveled alot. It was hard not to fall asleep so i kept myself busy by taking good notes. Take good notes and pass all her tests.
All you have do to is go to class, pay attention, &look over your notes at school before the test. The tests are easy, i got an A every time. Just show up& listen. If you dont go to class you will fail. DO NOT BUY THE BOOK. She has a good sense of humor and shes not mean at all. Take her for sure =O)
She's 1 of those teachers where you do have to show up everyday and take good notes otherwise you wont do good on the test she requires a paper due where you have 2 go 2 a museum. her test are fair and will give a review prior 2 test must show for that. With all the lectures she gives i would of thought her test would b more difficult but shes fair
I HATED HER CLASS!! yeah she is easy but she is also super rude and will lock the door when class starts make sure to be on time! and she will call you out infront of the class. i hated her and the class was boring i fall asleep half the time! dont take this class!!!!!!
Ms. Holmes knows her stuff about Latin American Art. There is NO TEXTBOOK, which is kind of a bummer. Her lectures are interesting. 1 museum visit & paper. 4 tests. Classes are all lecture. You must take notes in order to study for tests. Good teacher, interesting class.
REALLY KNOWS HER STUFF. IS CRYSTAL CLEAR AND SUMMARIZES INFORMATION IN THE BEGINNING OF EACH CLASS PERIOD. ATTENDANCE IS MANDATORY BECAUSE SHE COVERS A LOT OF INFORMATION. HOWEVER, CLASS IS FAIRLY EASY. TESTS ARE BASED ON LECTURES AND SHE GIVES U A COMPLETE STUDY GUIDE. DOWNFALL IS THAT HER LECTURES GET PRETTY BORING. JUST STUDY, CONTEXT ISNT HARD.
Easiest professor ever!!I got a B and barely studied for the tests! There are 4 easy test.Mandatory museum paper(not bad).she's let's you know what's gonna be on the test because she goes over it more than once so keep an eye out for that.Take good notes, lecures are boring and NO TEXT required!Kind of a dork but in a cute way.HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!
She is very nice, so do not feel intimidated. She understands the material very well and has real-world experience with artwork. If you are an art major, take her because she can offer you the skills for the major. She is not dificult, unless you are tardy/absent; do not read the book; not do assignments; and lastly do not do the museum paper.
Professor Holmes was awesome! Definitely sparked my interest in ART HISTORY. Blatantly loooooooves and knows what she is teaching. Is always happy to help and always reviews lecture topics prior! Test are multiple choice with the exception of personal interpretation on a piece of art. Annd she wears killer boots!
don't buy the textbook, you never use it. she is super nice. definitely come to class and pay attention. very important. no homework. tests aren't super easy, but definitely take notes during class and study. most of the questions on the tests are easy, but some are tricky, especially the true/false. just don't slack and you'll easily get an A.
one more thing. you have to do a museum paper, but it's so easy. just do a decent job and use the paper she gives you with the directions on it and you will easily meet the length requirement and do well. I thought I did a bad job and I got an A+ on it. just try and you'll get an A. it really helps your grade
She's really nice and helpful. Do not buy the textbook! All of the tests are based on her slide shows, and she gives a study guide the day before the test. There's a mandatory museum paper, but all you have to do is go to an approved museum and write 3 pages about a piece of art there. Study your terms and do not be late. She hates tardiness.
if you like looking at art and her lecturing all of class period, this is for u, she shuts the door on late students (sometimes, she tends to forget) but will point you out if you are late. Its just that we had a door that was loud and it irritated her. the only thing hard about this class was that there were no desks so it was a little hard taking
VERY INFORMATIVE.. SHE MEKES ME WANT TO GO TO HER CLASS EVERYDAY, I STUDY A LOT IN HER CLASS..SHE GRADE THE MUSEUM PAPER VERY EASILY, OVERALL, IT'S A EASY CLASS
amazing teacher, i loved her. latin american art you wouldnt think would be an interesting class but omg did she make it! i really reccomend her. easy A. im taking another art class with her cause shes awesome.
shes a great teacher. not only is she easy she is clear about what she wants you to learn for the test. she will say it over and over again so u know. even though its an easy class i did learn a lot
great teacher
She is very passionate about Art History of Latin America. Learned a lot in her class and loved it. If you take her class you won't want to miss a day. No text required, just take notes. She is very encouraging.
Great professor, loves her work and talking. I had no interest in Art History before this class, but I found it interesting and I learned a lot. If you attend class and listen to what she emphasizes you will do well. On the museum paper just do what she asks for and it's easy points. Strict about coming late and missing tests.
I enjoyed her class. Was pretty easy but most important very interesting.Learn a lot in her and now I'm more knowledgeable about Europe. :).Any who, attend class every day for she gives out points just for being in class, study her study guide, and pay attention; she gives a lot of information prior to exams.
Great prof., seems to love her work. I had very little interest in Art Hist. before this class, but ended up learning a lot & loved it. If you attend & pay attention in class you will do well. Don't really need the textbook, just take good notes!! On the museum paper just do what she asks and it's easy points. Strict about coming in late.
Really really clear on instructions and material, very glad I had her! I didn't really ever use the book, i just went over my notes and got A's on all my tests. Really easy class really fun teacher; highly recommended!
She is a professor truly interested in art&always tells what will be on the test.
She is a professor truly interested in art&always tells what will be on the test. She gives a museum paper&gives good detail of what's needed. Tests are multiple choice.
SHE IS AMAZING! HER TESTS/QUIZZES ARE ALL ON HER NOTES. YOU NEED TO WRITE DOWN EVERYTHING SHE SAYS TO PASS IN HER EXAMS. A PAPER DUE FROM THE GETTY MUSEUM AND SHE IS STRICT ON TARDIES. JUST DON'T GET THERE LATE.
Very Passionate. When you first enter you might not have much interest but she helps you build it. You need to pay attention for tests. Only homework is museum paper. But not to difficult and she gives you plenty of time and help. If you want or have to take an Art History class I would recommend hers.
Passionate is one word to describer this professor. I believe that with passion results a well taught class. I had no previous interest in this class but being a freshmen in college I took what I could get. That being said I was genuinlly interested because of the way she taught her class which made the semester more enjoyable. Great professor.
EXTREMELY knowledgeable & passionate. Evokes interest & is very clear on what will be on tests. Just take detailed notes and you'll be fine! Book was hardly needed. Overall a great experience with this teacher (:
Excellent professor. You just have to get there on time and take good notes since exams are based on lecture. Her class moves quickly, but she is very well organized, so you learn a crazy amount of info. Loved this class.
very easy class to pass. great teacher, recommended!!
LOVED this class.Learned ALOT! teacher is so passionate about the subject & knows her stuff. very NICE.pay attention and study and surely you will get an A! Test are easy!Every day it was a pleasure to go, made the class interesting & fun!only 4 test and 1 museum paper. museum paper is mandatory! very easy! never have hw!no need to buy textbook!
Great professor! She is clear and transparent & helps with any questions that you may have. Exams are not extremely difficult but they do require some studying mostly on definitions and time era. The most difficult part of this class is learning the architect, and traveling to the museum to write a paper on it. Study, work hard easy A!
Easy A if you pay attention to her lectures. slides consist of pics so taking good notes is required. Test is super easy and she has a study guide to help. Read the study guide and your notes and you should do fine. Only hard thing about this class is that you have to write a museum paper, 3 pages tho. And book IS NOT needed.
Winter sess: 4 tests - drop lowest of 1st 3. No homework, textbook not necessary. Lots of info so pay attention and memorize artists and their artworks. She's very into what she teaches and it clearly shows. Overall she's nice, clear, and not too difficult. Study for the tests and you'll get an A. 1 museum visit and report. Your choice of place and art.
LOVED her! Can't stress enough how awesome professor Holmes is. She REALLY knows her material. Her class was almost 3 hours a day and I never yawned ONCE! She covers alot of material so it can be a little tough. But if you PAY ATTENTION and take notes you will be fine. She always reviews so it stays fresh.she'll make you want to be an art major ;)
I honestly do not know where to begin with this professor! She's truly amazing. TAKE NOTES, YOU'RE A COLLEGE STUDENT. Museum paper isn't so bad, in fact, enjoyed writing it! I received an A in the class, but I studied for every test the day before. So do study, and pay attention! Her style is also amazing!:)LOVE HER!
Excellent teaching skills. Made learning art very fun and easy to remember. Show up to class, read the book, take alot of notes and you will pass with an easy A. Just have to add that Professor Holmes is so gorgeoues..maybe thats why I went to class everyday. :)
Love this teacher! Just don't be late she is known to lock students out. Prior to this class I hated art and everything that went along with it after I became obsessed! She is so good at what she does. Hardest part of class is the museum paper got an A without trying! Take good notes and you will get an A! Gives out extra credit too!
Ms Holmes is the best professor I've ever had. Her lectures are interesting and crystal clear. You can feel her passion on art history. If you pay attention in class, you'll get an easy A. More than that, if you plan to travel to Europe , take her class first! That helps you become more knowledgeable!!! She is AMAZING!!!
She is an AMAZING professor, she looks like she loves what she does and she teaches the class with passion. She made me love art and feel a passion for it as well, she is very clear and to the point. Tests are easy, book is not necessary if you pay attention to her power points and she gives study guides that are to the point.Overall great class !
PERFECT CLASS FOR AN EASY A.
Very good teacher! You can tell she loves art history. She's interesting while she's doing lectures. Doesn't have a monotone voice. I'm a daydreamer and she kept my attention pretty much always. She's also quite funny. Easy to do good in her class if you just come to class and pay attention. Highly recommend her. I even took 2 classes with her.
Easy class to pass. She seemed very interested in the subject, and was willing to help if you needed it. Yeah she called people out if they were talking during her class, and locked the door many times... Not a problem for respectful students though!
Took this class during winter and loved it!! She is such an amazing professor! Her lectures were very interesting and I was never bored during class. Easy class for an A if you take notes and attend lecture. Book is not needed.
Easy class. No need for book. Gives out study guides. Final is not cumulative.
I really enjoyed taking Professor Holmes' class. I personally think she talks a little fast, but she repeats and reviews important information and gives you hints as to what may be on a test. She also posts study guides for tests which (including the final) are all multiple choice with the use of a scan-tron. An easy class for a short semester.
I took this class over winter and I was a little skeptical at first but I ended up getting an A. You need to attend class , pay attention and it will be easy :) the book is not necessary
Prof Holmes is very straightforward. Her lectures are very clear and concise. Her tests are easy if you pay attention because she reviews before each test.
Ms. Holmes is a good teacher. She made art history interesting. No homework. Don't need the book. Just go to class and take notes (in-class assignments and participation points).Tests are easy if you look over notes and study guide. She does review before test. One museum paper. She likes you to write about what you thinkfeel rather than facts.
This class was interesting. Her lectures are great and straightforward. I'd take it again because it was easy, fun, and I felt good being in class. Textbook is NOT needed, just show up to class and take notes! She gives out review guides which pretty much sum up the tests and does giant reviews right before the test! High key pretty hot too.
Such an amazing Professor. She definitely loves what she teaches and is by far the best professor I've had at Citrus. Show up to class and take notes. It helps if you don't sleep. Just listen to her lecture, it's all very straightforward and easy. She's great!!
I took her latin art history class. It was very interesting but there are times when you kind of drift off in class. She only lectures and doesn't have any class discussions which makes things a little boring. You have to show up in order to pass. Miss one class and you'll miss a lot of information.
Outstanding Professor! Easy class.
Holmes is an easy professor. She reviews constantly and her study guides are gospel. (Study them!!!) No hw, and her projects are fun and easy. I could tell that Asian art isn't her forte, but she still really knows her stuff and makes sure we know all the material for the test.
Excellent teacher. Best teacher I've had at Citrus College thus far. I definitely recommend this professor. Take good notes, print study guides as soon as they are available a d you are golden!
Great teacher, gives 6 page study guides that cover EVERYTHING. When she reviews for the tests she re-covers the study guides highlighting all the info you will need for the test. She does a great job mixing it up trying to incorporate video/lecture/picture slides. She speaks loudly, only downside, its not bad just don't sit so close to the front.
Took her for a full 16 wk semester as well as a 6 wk summer semester, would recommend going to class for notes. No homework. Very passionate professor and you can tell. Exams are easy, gives a detailed study guide and spends a day reviewing. Required visit to museum and write a 1200 word page paper on a piece of art that fits into the class' focus.
Professor Alison was an amazing professor. She always had a lot of energy and was interesting to listen to. She made us laugh a lot. For sure one of the best professors at Citrus College.
It is the first week of her online art history 103, got an F on first quiz and first HW, very confused about what to do with her online class, should provide some kinds of example, not sure about the format shes looking for, will see if things will get better....
700+ words paper every week, one 1200+ words museum paper, 20 minutes quiz with 20 questions each week. TOUGH GRADER, she did not mention to reply her comment in discuss board and she didn't mention how many point were taking off if you did not reply to her or the classmate. VERY CONFUSED...... Most of my works got C, hardest online class ever.
Professor Holmes is an excellent teacher. Her grading system is straight forward. Have a total of 4 test and she drops the lowest. No hw except a 1200 word paper. Test are fairly easy as she provides study guides and reviews. She's very enthusiastic about her job. Only bad thing about her class is sometimes her lectures are boring. Best teacher!!!!
Professor Holmes is AWESOME! She is funny and she does a lot of review in her class. Very VERY EASY. Just listen to her lectures and follow the study guide that she requires you to print out. Everything is in the study guide. No HW given. Just 4 tests, but she drops one of them (not the final) if you do poorly. And 1 museum paper which is easy.
Oddly particular about what she wants. Its an easy A if you do exactly what she wants from you without deviation.
Professor Holmes is overall a good teacher and I did feel I learned quite a bit from her throughout the semester. However, I didnt feel her method of grading was consistent throughout the course. Every week I felt overwhelmed by the weekly assignments. Lots of work!! Would recommend you take this class on campus, because her online class is tough!
I took her online class and truthfully I did learn a lot. There is a lot work but once you get familiarize with the outline, terms, etc. it becomes easy. Not a lot of extra credits though but overall I highly recommend her class!
Professor Holmes is the greatest! Her lectures are awesome and her teaching style makes it so easy to retain the information. Her tests are pretty much the exact same as the study guide she gives you. Research paper is also simple and required or else you will fail the class automatically.
Professor Holmes is great. She's very knowledgeable and really cares about teaching her class. Manageable workload, answers emails, organized, easy to understand. You will have to follow instructions/formats exactly as assigned though. No surprises in quizzes or exams, what you're taught is what you use.
It's an online course where you are forced to interact with your classmates. At that point why not just take the class in person
The online class isnt hard but its ALOT of work. She says to write 400 word essays per week but with everything she asks for in the essay youd need to write weekly 1200 word essays. Shes really nice and helpful if you just ask!
At first I was a bit overwhelmed with the amount of work that she gave us, specifically the Guided Art Tour that is due every Wednesday and quiz due every Friday. But I got the hang of it and I also learned a lot. I am very happy with this professor and I recommend her to anyone. She's awesome and she wants you to pass.
Prof. Holmes is an amazing professor. You have an assignment every week which is easy (just follow the layout) and a quiz on Fridays. Mid term is a museum paper. Final is questions from previous quizzes (EXACT questions and answers!). Super super easy. Pay attention to what she says and put in a little effort and you will get an A!
Professor Holmes is passionate about what she is teaching. Her grading criteria is very clear. She also responds to any questions you have in a very short period of time. I really enjoyed exploring a topic I barely had much interest in. Just follow the weekly criteria, read, and participate with other students and you'll get an A.
Get ready to read, read, read. Some of the assignments are pointless. I only did it for credit, but would much rather have taken this class with somebody else.
Just avoid her class. She is unpredictable and difficult. She does not read your writing carefully and grade.
Took her online due to covid. She makes you work for your grade and wants you to really analyze the art work from the book.
Great professor ever, very passionate and understand for the student situation
This class was so boring, not worth you time. She forces you to read a dry sleep-inducing textbook for you weekly essay which is just painful to do. Was incredibly dull absolutely no motivation for actually doing the weekly essay. Dropped this class 3 weeks in because I wasn't about to pay this lady to have Oprah videos as our lectures.
My experience with Professor Holmes in their Asynchronous ART 101 class was awesome! She is extremely in-depth with her feedback and is open about her grading methods, she never made me feel that I was being graded unfairly. When I had taken her class, we relied a lot on the textbook! There are lectures she posts as well, but be prepared to read!
Do not take as your first AH instructor. She has a heavy course load of weekly essays of about 800 words, participation, quizzes, and one paper, and a final. If you are an AH major she is great for helping you de
Prof. Holmes is great. This class might be boring to some people because all her assignment for every week is the same, but it was not hard. If you spend time reading the textbook and watching her lecture videos you will know how to do it. The quiz and test were very easy as well, just the final paper you have to visit a museum to complete it.
Don't take this class expecting it to be easy. She's very nitpicky on grading and is way too specific on it. I'm sure half the people taking her class are taking it for credit and it sucks. She needs work done in a very specific way or she deduct points HEAVY. Assignment require a lot of reading are are BORING! please take another class guys!
Prof Holmes was super kind and gave good feedback on assignments. She's also a fast grader and even gives a lot of extra credit opportunities. You could tell she is super passionate about her subject. Her tests are quite easy too. Would recommend.
I do not recommend this class. She is very picky about everything, and she makes everything so difficult as if life itself depended on it. This is definitely not a beginner 101 style class. I highly regret taking this class as long as I did. I withdrew just to avoid a bad grade. I have taken anatomy and physiology classes that were not as hard.
