Dr. K is challenging but always fair. She is very enthusiastic about biology and explains things in unique ways. Beware the multiple choice as they are not as easy as you think. Attending class makes a big difference as she has unannounced in class assignments.

This was a pretty good class. Shes helpful and nice and cancels class every once in a while because shes awesome. Be sure to check D2L before every class so you dont go up HNS for nothing. I would highly suggest her class, but I heard her lab was tough. I took Kanak for lecture and West for lab and life was pretty easy. 10/10 would recommend.

This class is AWFUL. If you want any chance at an A or a B do not take her. I am an A/B student and struggled terribly to even make a C. Her tests are all exceptionally difficult and the material comes from hundreds of slides. Also does a lot of (none of the above) and (all of the above) questions to trick you up easily. DON'T TAKE HER!

I liked her and her teaching style. I had her for lab, and not for my Bio class and it worked out great.

Dr. Kanak is extremely knowledgeable. She knows her stuff and can be funny at times. She lectures using a powerpoint every class and posts them online. Tests come straight from the powerpoints. There were two groups projects and only a few homework assignments. She's caring and wants to help you understand the material. Helpful in office hours too

Easy professor for lab and interesting experiments. Gives quizzes at the beginning of each class. Quizzes are based on the labs she post online before class. Not hard but often didn't post the labs until an hour or less before class. Kind of inconvenient especially if there's a quiz. All around fun class and usually got out early.

Dr. Kanak expects you to work hard, and if you do you can do well in her class. She knows her stuff and is willing to answer any questions you have, including in lab.

Dr. Kanak teaches well, and uses powerpoints, which she posts on D2L. Her Tests are not crazily hard, but to get a B, you definitely need to show up and review the powerpoints prior to the test. She also normally gives extra Credit after tests, in my experiences. Some say she gives pop quizzes, but she did not give any when I had her class.

Dr. Kanak definitely knows what she's talking about. Be prepared to work really hard for your grade, but she is always willing, and will do whatever she can to help you. Lectures were always interesting and she took the time to make sure we all understood what we were learning. She was definitely my favorite, I would recommend her for sure!!

Knows her stuff especially in her field of study. Grades are usually posted promptly. Classes are usually her reading from the PowerPoint. Pop quizzes are possible so attending class is helpful. Also strict on lab protocols - attire, etc. If you're nice to her, she'll be nice back. I'd recommend taking her.

Dr. Kanak really knows her stuff. She is great and funny in lectures. You will have to study if you want a good grade in this class, but if you study it is not that bad. Dr. Kanak is always willing to help if you are confused also. She is awesome and I highly recommend taking her.

Dr. Kanak is such a great professor! Genetics is a really tough class, but she makes it so easy to learn and will help you whenever she can if you have questions. I recommend you take her for this class! Exam questions come straight from lecture so do not skip class! I would definitely take her for another class later on!

Genetics is a fairly difficult class, but Kanak made it bearable. She's not super math-heavy, more focused on content. Print her powerpoints before class and fill them in during lecture. She's willing to work with you , but you have to put in the work. I used the textbook as a clarification tool, but further reading is recommended.

Dr. Kanak is a beast! She is amazing and such a nice person! You have to engage with her to know her though. Do not expect to like her if you like to sit and be quite the whole time. Test are straight from lecture, and the class is hard in general. But she makes it less of a load! I would highly recommend her!

Dr. Kanak is a great teacher. This class is a very hard and needs a lot of work. There are a couple of quizzes throughout the semester and two discussion post. There is also a paper due at the end of the semester. She is very easy to talk to and accessible outside of class. She is willing to help whenever it is needed.

Dr. Kanak is an incredible professor. She really loves the content, and this carries over into her lectures. The quizzes and tests are difficult, but it helps to use the powerpoints as an outline for studying. Dr. Kanak's lab is great. She is always willing to explain procedures and answer all questions. (This is extremely helpful to students like me who had no precedent of lab procedures.) You have to identify an unknown bacteria which is difficult, but she is extremely helpful in explaining test results.

One of my favorite professors ever! She puts powerpoints to D2L, but they don't have everything you need to know on them. Print them out before class and use them to take notes on. USE THE BOOK TO STUDY FOR EXAMS & QUIZZES! She video chatted with our class the night before both tests so we could questions. Go to office hours and get to know her.

Had her for basic Bio 1101. READ THE TEXTBOOK. I did not and struggled a little but still got a B. Also show up to class. I didn't sometimes and I missed some worksheets. I prob would have an A if I did show u. She is really funny and very nice. The tests are kind of difficult though but study! It is not hard to pass her class for sure.

Dr. Kanak is AWESOME! I had her for BIOL 2500 Lab and despite the pandemic she was always available to her students and is very knowledgeable about Micro. She's caring and sweet and answers any of your questions in or out of class. I would 100% recommend her for anyone taking lab, however I did not have her for lecture sadly.

I absolutely loved Dr. Kanak's lecture. She is so funny and really tried to make sure her students understood the material. Although Medical Microbiology is a very difficult course, she really did a great job instructing us on the material. I would take Dr. Kanak's course again anytime!

Genetics is a very content heavy class that requires a lot of studying, no matter who the professor is. Dr.Kanak is willing to help at any time. She realizes you have other courses you are taking, and is very understanding about many different circumstances. If you apply yourself, show up to class, study, and ask questions you will do just fine.

Dr. Kanak is a great professor and was willing to answer questions and help you understand content at anytime. Virology is a very heavy course that requires a lot of studying, and your grade 100% reflects your studying habits. I would take Dr. Kanak again for any course.

Dr. Kanak was one of the best professors I have had in a long time. This class includes a lot of material, however she provides office hours and an SI for her class which helped tremendously. She is very caring. All of the test are free response questions so be ready to learn new study methods and take time out of your day for this class !!

This course is going to be like nothing you have taken before. There is lots of content to cover in short amounts of time. The tests are all free responses meaning either fill in the blank or short answer. This is a hard class but if you learn how to study for it you can make it in the end. She is willing to help you just need to ask.

I took Dr. Kanak for microbio. The class was very difficult, but that is to be expected from a course like this. She is a tough grader and all the tests are free response and fill in the blank, but she genuinely wants her students to succeed. If you put the work in, go to class, and visit her office hours you will do just fine.

Dr.K is awesome. She provides you with everything to be successful. Attend class. Ask questions. Take notes. Listen. APPLY and draw conclusions. No college-level science class is or should be a breeze. She makes content relatable. She is always smiling, caring, funny, & passionate. She evidently cares ab our futures! She is extremely knowledgeable

This class was extremely challenging for me and I had to work harder than I ever have just to get a B. The free response tests were new to me, but I think it makes you really learn the subject matter. I really enjoyed the class and learned so much. Dr.K is very passionate about the subject and knowledgeable. I enjoyed going to her lectures.

She is one of the nicest professor. I loved her class so much. She grades really fast. Gives a ton of extra credit. However, her class is very hard. Gives minimal instructions on assignments. She wants her students to succeed and is very helpful during office hours. Easily my favorite professor on campus.

If you are a terrified freshman, take Dr k!!!! Dr kanak is friendly, helpful, and passionate about her profession. Students need professors that care, and Dr Kanak absolutely does. She instills confidence in her students while they navigate biology, and is always available for help.

dr k is literally the best professor, not only does she manage freshman classes, but also upper level genetics courses. she's super educated in her career and it's evident her main goal is to help her students succeed

I took bio, the subject was not for me and I struggled because of that. The one thing that made my education tolerable was having a supportive and passionate prof like Dr k. Not only did she guide me throughout my former bio career, but she continued to do so even as I switched to a different career. Hands down recommend
