other professors who teach enc1102 give sooo much more work! don't do much in the class, just show up & she is v. easy on grading

Very easy class, watch movies, and do one presentation in class. Only 4 papers to write, which are very easy to do. Highly recommend for an english teacher.

She's a feminist. But her papers are really easy to write and she doesn't grade hard at all. You have to do some presentations that, to me, seem like busy work. kinda like high school all over again, just easier.

Alison Smith was my favorite teacher Spring Semester. The readings in her class were varied controversial topics which I found interesting and often poignant. Her actual assignments were not difficult or very time consuming as long as you are opinionated.

She is a very understanding and laid back instructor. She also treats the students fairly and grades reasonably easy. If you do bad on a paper, she lets you revise to raise your grade. She is also a genuinely nice person. AWESOME INSTRUCTOR!!

She is young, nice, and understanding. Grades easy and always gives you a chance to revise your paper again. The last 3 papers were done in groups.

She is an awesome teacher. Very clear on what she wants. She gives you an ample amount of time to complete your assignments. She is definatley the best teacher ever.

Great lady! Shes young,about 30. Class is 4 cour essays and class participation. She wants you to care, and is very willing to help you on anything, always available to her students!

Clear, Nice, Sweet. Have been avoiding English because its my worst subject, and have an A. Young, Nice, just have to go to class and talk in class about articles (the articles suck... but she helps you through them). Luckily she also teaches English II

My favorite class by far! She makes it very fun, and you can pick from a wide variety of topics for your cores. She's always willing to help, and her class is very entertaining!

Great class, Great teacher. I hate English and usually do horrible in it but I got an A in her class. Class time isn't wastefully used and is a pretty interesting class.

she is punk with coach flair. she is very student-centered, and wants to teach all of us about feminism and changing the world for the better. you MUST take her! plus, she is teaching women's studies in the fall!

Other than not coming to our first three classes, she's great! lol. Seriously though, she is a great professor and cares about teaching us BOTH sides, not just hers. Just make sure not to say policeMAN, fireMAN, MANkind, congressMAN, etc., ...

Fun, lot of reading but very helpful and an amazing person. Kind of scares you at first with the feminist views but she is completley open minded and goes out of her way to help her students, take her.

She is the greatest teacher ive had in a long time. i was really bad in english and i still got an a. Shes really open to all opinions and the class is just all discussions about good topics, and 4 papers. TAKE HER!!!!!

This is a good class, but a LOT of reading. Make sure you have plenty of ink for your printer b/c i had to replace mine a few times b/c of all the printing. She's very opinionated especially over feminist issues. Only 4 papers. Easy, just be sure to read.

AWESOME TEACHER! English is definately not my strong point and i got an A. Really big on feminism but also very open minded. She gives a lot of print out reading but at least we dont hafta buy an extra book. Loves those who particiapte in class discussion. TAKE HER!! Im gunna take her for Eng2 also!

Great teacher, I am do not consider myself a good writer and I received a 100% on my first paper. She is an opinionated feminist but she loves people who participate in class discussions. I am taking her for ENC 1102 also. She seems tough at first but give her a chance and she is awesome!!!

Don't let the phrase "Raging Feminist" scare you. She is a great teacher that, if you apply yourself to class discussions etc. will not screw you over on grades. She is very open and will always listen to what you have to say. F.Y.I.- Alison hates stereotypical comments.

This is the best english class ever! She is so laid back...we call her Alison and she cancels class all the time.SHe will randomly give out extra credit also. You are allowed to miss I think 6 days.We watch alot of movies and no test.I am horrible at English and i got a A on my first paper. TAKE HER

Taker her. At first I was so scared of taking this class cuz Im not that good of a writer but Im doing pretty good in the class. She is very lax. The class is never boring and she encourages and rewards class participation.

i thought this was an engligh class, not a feminist radicalism class... besides that, she is a good teacher. she grades your papers very fairly. class was canceled alot. if you are homophobic.. do *not* take the class.

I also recieved a 100% on my first two papers. I ended up with a B for the semester though :( She is definately an english teacher you should take, just make sure you have enough black ink in your printer, and use quick print.

I found Smith's class so much fun. She's really cool and down to Earth. As long as you get your assignments done and in on time you're set. Alot of the subject matter she goes over is pretty risque but it's a great tool for broadening students' horizons. Great teacher!

I dont know what that person was thinking, she only likes you if you write abotu feminism? Not true, not one of my papers had anyhtign to do with lesbians or feminism and i got an A and i also missed 5 classes! offers extra credit too. If you get anything less then a B you can rewrite the paper!!!

If you don't like writing papers in a group, don't take this class. The first core is individual, but the other 3 are all written with your group.

Her class was really easy. There are several group papers, so if you get stuck with a bad group then it's bad. Participate in class. Almost nothing was said about feminism

Her class is awesome! I wouldn't say it was necessarily an "easy A" because we write a lot, but i got an A both classes. I HATED English all throughout high school, but after taking BOTH ENC1101 & 1102 with her, i became a much better writer. Participate!!

Fun class with a lot of student interaction. The class is based on group papers so if you don't work well with groups, don't take this class. I'm not a strong writer and I did really well in this class. All A's!

This past semester was my second time taking her. I loved her and she's awesome. You do group papers and it all works out in the end! I highly recomment taking her!

Take her class! Shes an awesome and understanding teacher. Its not hard to do well and she tells you exactly what she wants. We watch lots of movies and if you get group assignments, the class will be cake.

Not bad at all, for the college stoner this class was pretty easy. Just write a couple of papers and show up to class.

The first week wasn't fun for me. She gave a lot of reading assignments from a lot of books all on one weekend. After that the class wasn't hard though. She's nice. After finding out that she is willing to edit your papers, I did well.

she is a feminist. she is open-minded and truly cares about her students' progress in class. she always helps students with their writing, and if you do the work and enjoy class participation and projects you will do just fine in her class. you should take her!

Great teacher. She is very understanding if you miss a deadline. She is a feminist, but she never disrespects anyones ideas or beliefs. An easy teacher, but one you will learn alot from.

Very easy grader and wants you to get an A. She is always able to help, and lets you know exactly what she wants. Very good teacher, I recommend her if you want an easy A

I took Alison for english 1 and 2... she is a great teacher, and made english really simple. Loves group work,lots of interesting class dicussion,and is always willing to help you with papers. Deffinately recommend taking her class.

She is the best teacher I have ever had. Plus, she wears Coach shoes and purses all the time defying the stereotypical feminist. She changed my life.

This class was definitely the best way to start off college!! She makes it really fun and she has a great dry sense of humor! I have been pretty dissapointed with the lack constructive criticism on papers though.

Best teacher ever. She does give excellent comments; however, she had an infection in her hand this summer, so she could not WRITE! Don't listen to those other idiots! She really cares about your evolution as a writer...

Alison Smith is an amazing instructor. She is obviously very experienced as a writer & gives a lot of helpful feedback. Follow all instructions on her easy writing assigments, including paper length, & you'll do just fine. Make sure you start working on your Core IV as soon as it is assigned because it requires some time. However, it's not hard!

Wow. Ms. Smith is awesome, she encourages great class discussion, she gives very good feedback on papers. For the Core IV she peer edits your papers. She misses a ton of class but she has a chronic illness, but when she does have class she is amazing.

Alison is awesome. If you have the opportunity to take her, DO IT! Her classes are always painless and usually even fun because there's a lot of discussion and she tells really funny stories. She's really cool, laid back, and understanding. Definitely the coolest and nicest professor I've had at UCF.

Pretty easy class, she is very laid back. Cancels class a lot which is cool. Only thing i didnt like were the group essays but to each his own.

Def the best teacher at UCF. Make sure to get her, rather than taking her if you can. Completely reasonable and understanding about everything and anything.

She has a very intresting teaching style for english. she relates alot of her beliefs in her personal life to the class to make it more intresting. She really has a pasion for writing and really loves reading our papers. just write your 4 core papers, come to class and you should get an A

She is laid back, misses a lot of class and she is a liberal. Which is great because she has a liberal attendance policy and she also grades liberally. Finally a college professor who is not hypocrite, she truly is LIBERAL!

The only class I enjoyed going to all semester. She keeps the class interesting, really cares about her students and you actually learn neat stuff without being bored by a lecture. Take her! :D

You know those professors that people always say you'll never remember because they never challenged you? This is her. she always cancels class, easy A. can't wait for the University and real professors. take her for a GPA boost, but that's about it. completely forgetable...
