This is a hard class but if you read the book, keep up with the homework, and ask for help you will do fine. Teacher explains the material very well. It is really important to ask for help right away if you are getting lost on anything.
I have major math anxiety and have never liked math, but I felt so comfortable with the subject matter when taking Willimas. She understands that math doesn't come easy to everyone and is very supportive and understanding. I recomend her for the math impaired.
by far one of the best math teachers at santiago... she is tough... but will help you out with anything you hsve problems with, inside and outside of class... she is easy to get along with.. joke aroung and you'll be her new best friends!
She is so nice and has a ton of energy. She has the cutest personality and makes you actually want to pay attention and learn the material. She definitely isn't one of those usual boring and dull math teachers that the world has too many of.
Allison is such a great teacher. I hate math but she made it more fun and understandable for me than any other teacher has. She rewards you for doing your homework by having a quiz every wednesday with problems STRAIGHT off of the hw AND you can copy them right off your hw if you want! Take her if you can.
A very nice teacher. She makes math fun and easy to understand. Although, at times she has a very sarcastic and condescending attitude towards students. She keeps her room very cold so be sure to bring a jacket. She genuinely loves math and teaching. Follow along in the class and with homework and you will do well. BE SURE TO ALWAYS DO THE HOMEWORK
I really liked Allison, she makes the class interesting. She only gives one extra credit assignment and her tests are hard. I did better on the final because she overprepares you for it. As long as you do the homework you will get 100% on every quiz. She is one of the better math teachers at Santiago!
Before going into math 080, I didnt know how I would get through it, but once I was there I noticed how helpful and informative she was in explaining the material to the students. I am soo happy I got through this class and I def. recomend her to anyone who wants to take it and get through it as well.
Horrible. She isn't a good teacher. Her explanations are extremely unclear and fast. Her tests are unbelievably difficult. She grades tough. The homework and quizzes are easy though. EXTREMELY UNHELPFUL when I explained to her my math troubles. "Do better or you fail" I struggle in math and she didn't help me. Awful.
I didn't like the way she taught math. Williams explains the material at a very rapid pace and unclear at times. her grading is unfair, if you get the answer correct but miss a small step when showing the work SHE MARKS THE WHOLE THING WRONG. especially on the tests which are impossible. overall all a very unhelpful teacher
bad math teacher. annoying and unhelpful.
Probably the worst math teachers I ever had. and i've had some pretty good and helpful math teachers in the past. Spent all semester practicing and studying but she makes the tests so tough. and i mean unfairly tough, un-doable. not a good attitude towards students although she prentends to care. STAY AWAY!
I completely disagree with the negative comments others have made. Math is a tough subject and you have to devote the appropriate time and energy to it if you are going to get the grade you want. Mrs. Williams is extremely helpful and will explain things in different ways until you get it. Awsome teacher!!
I really enjoyed this class and would take her again. Yes you need to keep up on the homework, and there are lots of quizzes. She is very helpful and will explain things to you repeatedly if you need it. Her tests were not difficult.I would recommend this teacher to anyone who has trouble with math, she is great!I got an A and math isn't my thing.
Not a good teacher. She is too fast when she explains. "Thats how you do it, got it? Good. next lesson" She is very annoying. Her grading system sucks, test are litteraly around 53 percent of your grade and he purposely makes the tests hard and unfair. If you struggle at math, take someone else.
Stay away from this teacher if you have trouble in math. She doesn't teach well at all. She is extremely obnoxious. Can be rude at times. A very unforgiving and non-understanding teacher. oh, and the tests are IMPOSSIBLE!
Be prepared to teach yourself. She is rude, she is unfair, she is tough. Terrible. Doesn't explain well at all. bad grading system. Very annoying too.
I thought she was great. She was very helpful and nice. Not too much homework and quizzes are easy. The tests aren't that hard if you study. I will be taking her again for another class!
Good teacher. Tough clas but Williams makes it easier to understand.
It all depends on how good you are at math. Take her only if you are gifted in math. If you aren't good at math, AVOID. She doesn't understand that math is not as easy to some people as it is to her. She didn't help me, but other math teachers have. Her exams are TOO HARD.
very unclear in explaining. impossible exams. just plain rude and not willing to help even if u are doing bad and want to improve your grade. strict and rude so work your ass off. i went for help she was sarcastic and hurtful
Yea if it were medical school or stanford undergrad fine. But her tests are so hard and not the "Oh well its challenging u'll learn a lot kind", but the absurdly "whats the point in failing everybody kind" If you want to weed people out fine but do it in a fair resonable way. You can study forever but you'll get a B at best, maybe a C. So hard
Mrs. Williams is a good teacher. The quizzes are an A if you do the homework, because you can use them on the quiz. The tests aren't too bad if you do the review. And you can understand her if you listen and try the examples.Basically, if you don't do the work, you won't like her and you won't get a good grade. No extra credit. I like her.
I thought Mrs. williams was great. I really understood her teaching. Go to her office hour if you don't want to ask in class because she'll help you. Gives extra credit. She does joke with people so I don't know if that is why some of these other comments about her being mean have to do with that. I think some of you just didn't want to work.
i would recommend her to everyone! she wouldnt let you slack. participate in class, she wont make you feel stupid for the wrong answer. do the HW, take the quizes and go to class. i hate math and i really loved this class!
Not such a great teacher. Her grading system is wacky, explains really fast and brags about how fast she can talk. she says she has contests with other teachers of who can talk faster. She doesn't repeat concepts and she is insulting. If you are not good at math, there is a wonderful math study hall and other good math teachers. Don't take Williams
Welcome to the world of college math! Ms. Williams is a college math professor and she runs her class that way. She's not interested in spoon feeding anyone. If you need calculus then Ms. William will give you a real understanding of the subject. You'll see proofs and not a lot of application. Good preparation for more advanced math instructors.
Alison, is an amazing teacher! I took her for 3 Algebra classes. Go to her office hrs if you need more help. Math isn't easy for many people and I am one of those. I learned more in class than I thought was possible.
WOW, DO NOT TAKE THIS TEACHER! she teaches in a way thats tough for others to understand and doesn't care about her students. I had a hard time following her lectures. the homework is easy but she is rude. she will pick on you in front of the class and she raised her voice several times to students. bad teacher.
Alison, is a great teacher. Disreguard what has been said about her that is negative. She's helpful. If you need something explained she will keep at it till you understand the material. I would take every math class she taught if I could!!!!
Williams is a great teacher. Her class is not hard and as long as you do the HW and pay some attention you better pass this class. Best math teacher i have had. She helps you out and answers alot of questions and has good reviews. Take her trust me.
coming into this class, math wasn't my strongpoint. after dropping the class, i got worse at math. she seemed nice at first, but I couldn't keep up with her rapid and confusing explanations. math requires someone who is PATIENT and CLEAR in explaining. i had a friend who warned me that this teacher is bad before i enrolled. I'm taking someone else
I disagree with all the NEGATIVE comments about Alison and her class. She is an amazing teacher who will help you till you get IT. I HAVE NEVER FOUND HER RUDE IN CLASS OR TO A STUDENT.
Here's the thing with Williams, if your a math whiz, you'll like the class and like her (although she did have an attitude problem at times). if your not a math whiz, you will not do well in this class because she teaches the material as if your're grad students who already know the material and just reviewing. THATS ALL IT IS.
I DIDN'T UNDERSTAND ALL THE NEGATIVE COMMENTS. ALISON IS A GREAT TEACHER WHO KNOWS HER MATERIAL! I TOOK HER FOR 3 MATH CLASSES. I'D TAKE HER FOR MORE IF I COULD!
She's good only for people who are good at math. As I've seen with the previous comments, it's common for people to struggle in math and this teacher is all over the place when lecturing. Just be able to put up with her conceited and arrogant personality also.
Down with Williams. the way she teaches is difficlt to follow. i took her class a couple semesters ago, the class started out with 30 people and ENDED with around 10 or 11. one time she said something like, " i understand that not everyone is good at word problems, BUT I DONT CARE! WE ARE GOING TO DO MANY MANY HARD WORD PROBLEMS.
I honestly love her class. She was so much fun, made class interesting and very supportive. I wish she taught more math classes so I could take her. If I could, I would have token her 60, 80 and 219. The quizzes were start of the book - same problems. Take her if you find math a challenge and need someone to explain to you well.
Alison is a great Math teacher. She helps her students in the classroom and in office hours.
shes the coolest fwahkin teacher ever. i wish all my teachers like her or she teached every subject and every class because i would take it. homeworks a breeze and the tests are even easier. take her if you take math!
Who knows when you will get your test back or when your grade/s will be posted. Lectures a little too quick for people slow on the uptake. If you are immature and love to disrupt the class this is the class for you.... discipline in minimal
Williams is the best teacher ever. She has a way of explaining things so that everyone in the class can understand. There is a quiz every week, but the questions come directly from the homework and you are allowed to use your homework on the quizzes, so it's a given 10 points. You are also allowed to use formula charts from the book on the tests.
She is an awesome professor. I give her an A+ as a professor. She will take the time to help you.
Alison is a great teacher who will take the time to work with you and answer your questions. You must do the homework... besides, becoming good in math takes repetition. As a "reward" for doing your homework, you can use it on her "weekly" quiz! HUGE suggestion... DO THE STUDY GUIDE you are given before each test, and do it TWICE! You'll do great!
As with any Math class if you miss a class you will get behind. By doing the homework you are allowed to use it on weekly quizzes. Study guide is very helpful. Only thing I disliked is the fact that she takes forever to had back graded quizzes and exams. I would take her again.
alison is a great professor, she explain a problem if you not getting it, you must come to class or she will drop you if miss 4 classes. her quizzes are easy and you can use your homework as notes while taking quizes. she gives a review before each test which are helpful. the only thing i didn't like is that she lags on grading test and quizzes.
She's awesome! Take her.
i love her! she made me actually like math, but most importantly get it! I 100% recommand her.
She is a great teacher really helpful with all questions. Really cares if you pass. Homework is all due day of the test but don't all behind because she gives a good amount of it. She is a really hard grader when it comes to test make sure you show ALL your work. If yo do your homework, study guide, and review questions easy A.
Just an absolutely fun teacher. Not only can she keep you engaged in what is usually a boring topic. If you need help, she will help you. Her course is hard, but only because math in general can be hard for some people. As long as you do everything a student should be doing, you'll pass. Most people that fail, really didn't try and are just irked.
she drops your lowest quiz grade and homework is allowed when taking the quiz. basically do your homework and itll be easy ten points. tests are descent she gives you a study which is useful just study that and youll be fine. if you have any questions go to her office hour. has an extra credit project that helps alot with your grade. overall TAKE!
she amazing, fun, careing, and trys to work with you, but you really have to do the homework (and turm it in, in time),it's the diffrence between an A or a B.
She's very enthusiastic about math. I took her 8am class and she was very awake at the time. You can ask her any questions regarding her lecture without feeling stupid.i Highly recommend taking her class, everything i felt i couldn't learn -she taught me in one semester
Took her in Summer 2010...received an A. She's good at explaining but this is a class we've all taken before in high school. If you work at it, you'll get the A.
She is a great teacher. She wants to pass you. She is very clear and can help you in office hours if you dont understand. You turn in all your hw on Test day. You use your hw on the quizes which are based on the hw so easy 10 points. She is my favorite teacher and thats saying something cause i hate math!
such nice teacher and she makes sure you understand the material before moving on. One of the best math teachers at scc
She seriously has been the best teacher I have EVER had for math! She is absolutely amaZing! She makes sure that you completely understand and for tests she always gives you a review sheet with everything that will be on the test. AND she tells you problems to do so that way you are fully prepared. HIGHLY RECOMMEND anyone to take her class :)
She was a very hard teacher for me since I've always struggled with Math, but she is a hard grader if your graph is missing a line , or you don't draw a picture correctly she will take off points, gets excited about math she doesn't like students that complain, her tests prepare you for final, study tests and probabilities
Stats is a very hard class, but professor Williams makes it so much easier. She really cares about her students. The tests are kind of hard, but they prepare you well for the final. You can use hw during quizzes which is an easy 10 points if you do the hw. Do the extra credit! I got an A, but I had a tutor and I worked extremely hard! Study!!
She is a GREAT professor. you will learn. Stats is much different from algebra and all that arithmetic, which at first will throw you off, but it all works out. not the easiest, but not the most difficult. HIGHLY RECOMMEND
Professor Williams is very friendly and has tons of energy. She isn't very good at returning assignments and quizzes but if you do your best you will pass the class. As a student with not much Stats background, I actually enjoyed learning about the use of math in real life! :)
Tests 66%, quizes 10% and final 24%. This is a tough class and her tests are extremely ridiculous difficult comparing to what she teaches in class.
Took this class over summer. she is a good teacher as far as covering the material. however, she is a very tough grader. stay on top of all the homework and you will do well on quizzes(write all the problems down because she lets you use the homework). the tests are fair as long as you understand and study the material. not an easy A.
Took this class over summer, which I don't advise unless you have a strong background in math (I don't). Williams is an excellent professor and genuinely wants you to do well in the class. She's a very tough grader. Show up, work hard, talk to her if you have problems and you should do well in the class. Did all the HW/EC and passed with a B.
She is a good professor. She always helps you, but she is a hard grader. You will understand her lectures if you always do homework and practice. Go ahead and make an appointment to get help from her. DON'T GIVE UP in her class because she will give you a chance to pass her class. You will have 12 quizzes, 4 tests, 1 final, and you're done.
GREAT PROFESSOR. Extremely passionate about stats & takes the time to explain and go in-depth. Very difficult class, but with hard work & studying I passed with an A. Gives extra credit, drops lowest quiz, & gives helpful study guides for tests. Complete hmwrk as you can use it on quizzes- all questions come from homwrk = easy points
horrible, constantly forgot to post important test information that was necessary for online quizzes( handouts and graph pdfs) and very slow to respond to emails. uses a very confusing and expensive online program. very all over the place.
One of the best teachers I ever had! I liked her teaching style and shes very nice. Sometimes slow on grading tho. I would take her again.
I think she is a great teacher, very helpful and concise. She wants you to understand the math. She is quirky and funny which helps in a hard class like this. I have a very hard learning math her ways, I think she is to advanced for beginners of algebra. I did very well in the class before this one, and I am failing at the stuff I once knew!
I need this class to transfer and shes making it very hard to pass
I highly suggest participating in and attending class. There is a lot of homework, but do it. It really prepares you for the exams. If you don't understand a problem, she'll find a way to explain it to you in a way you will understand. She's very funny and friendly. I was sad when the semester had to come to an end.
Professor Williams is an awesome professor. She is dedicated to helping her students pass the class and also dedicated to helping her students understand the concepts. Just do the homework, go to her office hours when needed, and study for the exams and you should have no problem passing her class with an A.
Mrs. Williams is dedicated and ready to help. She puts lots of efforts on helping you to understand the concepts, if you need help dont wait go and see her right away she will help you. Homework have to be done before test days, she is very clear about how homework could affect your grading criteria. Overall, excellent teacher !!
Alison Williams is by far my favorite math teacher. She tries to make sure the entire class is understanding the material and is always willing to answer questions. She is personable and funny. I would love to be in her class again
I took this course online. Great professor and willing to help if you ask. Very clear grading criteria and schedule. Responds fast to emails. Shes pretty funny too. The material was very hard for me so the course took over 15 hours a week. If you're not good at math I wouldn't recommend taking this online. Textbook is provided free online.
Williams is an AWESOME teacher!! I love how she uses language, images, and objects to help you better understand the subject material. Statistics was very hard for me but she made it much easier to understand. She has a wonderful sense of humor and is very, very patient. She allows you to use homework on quizzes and offers extra credit.
Great class! It had an appropriate amount of assignments to master the material, but we not an abundant workload. The tests matched the quizzes, so studying was clearly directed. I liked being able to work online at home and only go in for the midterm and final. This made it convenient. Williams was super responsive to emails and always there.
She is a great professor definitely knows how to teach. However the class is difficult and you must study if you want to pass. If you have anxiety about getting test back on time, don't take her. She will give you your test back 2 weeks after taking it lol. If you dont drop the class, toward the end of the semester she offers a great EC opportunity
Had Williams for SS and I would definitely take a class with her again! She was great! Gives great visuals and explains in amazing detail that is easy for anyone to comprehend!
Awesome teacher, wish she taught other math subjects or I would have taken her for everything. She's hilarious and makes class fun. Tests are fair. She will never test you on something she's never taught you thoroughly. Math may be hard for some, but if you take her its hard not to pass because she's such a great teacher.
She's great at making sure you know the information. She's absent quite a bit but she makes up for it in the stories. Overall great prof. and quite helpful
I love Williams! She is so funny and very clear. She will take the time to answer questions and is very helpful in her office hours. I wish I hd taken her sooner!
1. Loud and almost condescending at times for just asking a question in class 2. Depending on time, she'll cut corners and expect you to understand everything 3. Homework quizzes 4. EXTREMELY hard grader 5. Expect class to be cancelled frequently to where she crams sections together 6. Clear lectures but cold classroom
She understands the material is difficult and tries to make it as easy as possible. Class is hard cause it's statistics, but if you put in the effort and study you can definitely pass! She prepares you well for the exams and final. Sometimes can come across as impatient and annoyed, but she does care and wants you to pass!
This class was extremely difficult but if you do all the homework you will pass every quiz and do well on the exams and pass her class. Hardest C I've ever worked for.
At first I was doing well in the class then I failed my midterm, at the end of the course I had a 60% exactly & I talked to her after the final and told her i was struggling.. Did EC but my grade didnt go up. She is a tough grader but If you communicate w her she will help. Anyways she ended up passing me w a C. Even tho I had 60%. Took her online
PLEASE for the love of god do not take her. If you like professors that actually teach you the material, don't take her because she will make you learn on your own and she will go MIA when you need to ask her questions. Her tests are hard and does not update grades frequently so you never know how you're doing. AVOID especially if online.
I'm not sure why someone says she isn't a great teacher, but I think she is awesome! Takes the time to help if you ask and is very nice. Would take her agin if I could.
you really do need to buy a textbook for this class, it's used in class for notes and whatnot. Williams is honestly hilarious, but she is a tough grader. I never needed her office hours, but she does encourage students to meet with her. She offers extra credit throughout the semester. She answers every question. Canceled class like four times
I just loved her class! She was such a great teacher! I understood everything she would talk about in class. She is kind of tough grader and you need to do the home work. Helps you if you need it. Classroom is cold. Gives extra credit!!!
Took for an online class over intersession and it was intense!! But overall Williams was a good instructor. She was quick to respond to questions. Attend the online review!! It will help!
Currently in Math 140! Prof Williams is an amazing teacher, she really cares for her students. Although I am struggling in her class to pass (that's on me, I'm not great at math, but I still work and study hard), she is always willing to help with all of my questions during office hours and takes questions on homework every class! She gives me hope!
I had her for Spring 2017 semester and she is a good lecturer. Please please don't hesitate to ask her questions she will literally give you a better explanation. If you visit her office hours perfect! She is hilarious and a tough grader but overall she is a good teacher. She cancels class like 4 times.
I was never good at math, Prof. Williams made math easy and especially since I did it ONL. I have taken math ONL before & you have to be discipline, the midterm & the final are taken at the campus. The work is manageable & the material isn't that bad, just remember to study & do all the HW & quizzes.
Professor Williams is a straight shooter! If you are willing to put the work in, you will pass. There is an average amount of homework and test. In addition, you are allowed to use your homework on quizzes. I had a great experience overall!
I took this class online during intersession. Prof Williams really cares about her students and wants them to succeed. Even in the online format she was quick to respond to homework questions. Cramming a semester into four weeks was tough. Take advantage of the extra credit she gives. Math is not my favorite subject so I was very happy to pass!
Professor Williams is hands-down one of the best math professors ever. She's really nice, and will answer as many questions as you can possibly come up with. She is really loud though. She does give a lot of homework, and she'll drop you if you miss 4 lectures. She also takes homework questions at the start of class, so it's easy to catch up again.
