For a first time professor, she is amazing! Definitely read the textbook, as there are several quizzes and exams. She is passionate about social justice, women's health, and healthcare. She has a sense of humor. Class was interesting! She creates a comfortable atmosphere for students to share their thoughts. Recommend!
She is one of the most helpful teacher I have had in last two years . She is very passion about the topics she teaches. I suggest to all SJSU students to take her class if you want to learn something useful!
It was a wonderful class. I really liked her teaching style. We had couple of work shops and even met with librarian. She is very helpful. I recommend her!
Overall, an okay teacher. Lectures are not correlated to what will be on the exam. You have to read the book on your own because that is where exam questions will come from. She is a tough grader on the short essay portion of the exam and on the research papers.
WARNING! TOUGH GRADER! Lectures r pointless cuz she skims thru slides & then takes the rest of time to talk about ebola or somethin else she thinks relates. There r NO study guides! basically u have to remember everythin you're readin includin statistics. Only 1 person got an A from the essay portion of the test..I had a 4.0 gpa before this class..
Professor Shaw is a true professional. Like all the other posts, her quizzes are like tests HARD! she is completely open to helping students and taking suggestions that the class has. even extra credit. She loves what she does. If you read, you will be fine. if you read and memorize you will get an A. One of the harder teachers in health science.
This class is very comprehensively based. So, READ, READ, and READ!! THE only thing that kept me going was the interest i had in this course and my ability to create my own notes as i read all the chapters and articles. There are quizzes every 2-3 weeks. No midterm. One big group presentation and 1 final. Keep up wih the readings and you'll be fine
Professor Shaw is amazing. I've had her for 2 classes, got an A in both. She connects so well with all the students, and has a ton of patience. She is the kind of teacher who listens and helps students individually, but is still a no-bs kind of teacher. Her quizzes are easy, just read the chapters. She gives study guides and with that you'll pass
Professor Shaw is one of the best professor at SJSU. I took 100w and HS173 during summer and she was amazing. She is overqualified for her job. She is extremely helpful, knowledgeable, and has a lot of patience. I got an 89% in her class and she bumped me up to an A. HS 173 was difficult but definitely doable .
Definitely my favorite professor in SJSU. Loves what she's doing and very helpful to her students. Had an intimidating aura with her at first but she's cool!
would NOT take a class with her again. lectures are heavy in which she rambles on and on and noone knows a thing that comes outof her mouth. u have to participte in class n keep up with the kaiser health news becus it will be on tests. for a 103 class this class is hard unless u understand politics other than that be prepare to get no higher than A
Lets just say shaw is the worst teacher ever. She tries to make class fun but when really know one is having a fun time. She lectures nonstop so if you have here i am sorry. Refrain from picking a class with her. Tests are hard. I am a straight A student and got a B in her class. Save yourselves she is the WORSE teacher EVER
After giving this class the benefit of the doubt I can genuinely say that I hate this class. This class is useless for health science majors and stressful to the core. Getting an A is doable but not with this teacher. Sjsu needs to hire a better teacher for this course. Shaw is the worst. Unfair grader.
I respect Alissa so much. She is one of the few professors I know that is passionate enough to push you to work hard for your grade. She is so knowledgeable and beyond overqualified for her job! I firmly believe that it is important to have a prof who challenges you to do better. Yes, her class is not an easy A, but it is SO doable to earn it!
She is an amazing teacher! You will definitely learn in this class. We had 2 papers, and a final. If you need help on papers, she is willing to help. She implements current news and videos that relate to the chapters. Yes, I got an A in this class thats because I attended class, took notes from her lectures, and asked for feedback on assignments.
Prof. Shaw is a genuine & knowledgeable person. You must attend this class everyday. There are class discussions which are really helpful because she includes them in her midterm and final. You will definitely learn a lot from her. If you struggle, let her know so she could help you succeed in her class. Her lectures are informative.
I am hoping Shaw rounds me. Despite that she is one of the worsest professor in Health science. I dont understand why participation matters. It brings down your grade so much. Hs 103 needs a better professor
Professor Shaw is one of the best professors in the HSR department. She taught me so much and I became so much more knowledgeable about global health because of her. She's an amazing person and professor but doesn't mean she's easy. She'll challenge you to push yourself to learn the material and participate.
Professor Shaw is hands down one of my favorite professors at SJSU. She seems intimidating at first, but is actually easy to talk to and wants her students to be successful. You do have to attend because of weekly participation points, but the class is only once a week. The workload is "normal" when you compare it to most HS classes
HS 103 is an interesting course. It isn't easy material but Shaw does a good job teaching it. She has so much policy experience which helped me understand the course more. Be prepared to not skip this class b/c participation weighs very heavily.
I honestly wasn't too thrilled to take this class since econ can be so dry but Shaw made it super interesting with current events and what's happening with healthcare today. She is also an amazing resource if you need help with the papers or final presentation.
Health Econ was a difficult class because the material was heavy and assignments were sometimes open ended. However, Professor Shaw made the class as interesting and fun as she could. She's an intelligent professor and relates topics to things that are currently happening in the world
I had Professor Shaw for HS103 and the course itself was heavy; however, Professor Shaw taught the material in a way that made it easy to understand. She showed genuine interest in the material because of the impact these topics hold for future health professionals. Participation does matter in this class, but all you need to do is make one comment
Professor Shaw comes off as intimidating at first, but she genuinely cares about her students and gives helpful advice when you go to her office hours. HS 103 is a heavy course and I struggled with it in the beginning. However, after attending her office hours I began to understand the material more as well as prepare for the tests
Idk why people rated her poorly here , but honestly If you dont attend class often then you wont get a good grade. Her lectures are helpful. If u dont understand the material, just go to her office hours and ask her questions. If you dont try, obviously your gonna get a bad grade. Overall, Shaw is awesome. If u attend class, you will get an A.
People who complain about her don't understand that you need to work and earn your grade. Yes lectures may be long, she may be somewhat intimidating at first, but it's not impossible and she legitimately cares for her students; however, she won't take crap either. Show up, participate, and be actively engaged. Do your part, and cut the excuses.
Shaw is probably one of the worst professors at sjsu. Her tests are tough and class is way harder than 162. It's funny because both class are literally the same. If I were to choose, I'd chose 162 over Shaw's 103 any frickin day. Her lectures are so heavy that I secretly fall asleep with my eyes in that class. TYBG the class is over
I truly wanted to like Professor Shaw, but this class was a bore and it was dull. I wish it wasn't for credit and I wish I didn't need it. You have to sit through a long long long lecture and truly, you get nothing out of it because the language she uses to lecture is not beginner friendly. I tried my best in this class but I barely passed..
LOL at those complaining about Shaw. Sorry yall but Ima do that same because Shaw's classes are the classes you want to be aware of. I would never take a class with her again and I'm lucky she's not any of my professors except 103. 103 was hard despite the cheat sheet we get. Don't do well on in-class assignments or that paper? Won't pass, TRUTH.
I am so happy to be DONE with this class. Yes you do need to work hard but if I pass 162 with an A but I can't pass this class with an A-,,,,,, you know something not right. Thumbs down to shaw for making my last semester a hard one. Thanks for nothing Shaw.. I just feel bad for the international students...
All i can say Is get full points on everything. By everything I mean tests exams homework and all in class assignments. And participate. Participation matters. Its stupid but it does. Someone tell shaw to make it for extra credit. We also get a potluck. Its messy though so someone tell her to change how people get food.
Where are the tags that says awful, terrible teacher, would not take again, and class is useless? These are tags that describes the class Im mortified and glad to be done
I just dont get this class. Why dont participation matter? Why are the tests so hard? Why is she not a lenient person? So many questions yet no answers. You have to try extremely hard on this class if you want A. In my opinion just take that B. Its not worth stressing over. This class aint nothing
Shaw shaw shaw. More like naw. Test are hard ,lectures heavy, participation matters. Overall? Would not take again
She assigns a team that you will work with throughout the WHOLE semester. We had to meet outside of class. It wasnt bad at all since my team members were awesome. She can sometimes be intimidating when asked questions however, be respectful and direct. I would usually email and it was fantastic. She replies to emails which is helpful.
It is not fair for those who did not have a chance to participate since lot of people raised their hands but could not talk. She is quite strict. Overall, no recommended
Professor Shaw is the best. This class is the most time consuming classes I have taken because you have wkly group meetings outside of class. she is very specific on how she wants things done. you have to go to class and participate. she prepares you very well to Present in front of class , to format you papers, & to work in groups.
Attendance matters, she is very easy going and gives many opportunities to share opinions or insight on current matters. Very interesting class.
TAKE HER!! I'd had her for HS 25, 135 and 103. She is tough but worth it. It's not easy but it reflects the course work. Everything is doable and college students should be able to pass her class with at least a B no problem. She encourages you to think critically. She is passionate about her work and has a lot of experience. I recommend her!
Professor Shaw requires participation and attendance to be consistent. Therefore, make sure to show up to class and keep up with kasier news weekly, read the textbook, and do not skip quizzes. There is only one midterm and a final. She also likes to bring her dog to class, so you have that to look foward to.
If she's not the one teaching 103, try to not get her. here grading system is messed. Roll call attendance is counted to other weight grade category & is not clear how many pets will be dedicated if your absent, but it'll made huge loss on your final grade. She even doesn't care too much about her students & often not respond to the student emails.
Professor Shaw is a tough teacher and you have to work for a good grade. She challenges students to think critically. Be opinionated in her class, even if you think she won't agree with your opinion, speak up anyways. Having the book makes the online quizzes much easier, and be prepared for a tough paper right around finals week. KHN is on tests.
She expects much from her students, but only because she truly cares. One of the most engaging and insightful professors that Ive ever had.
The class was sort of confusing for me because the textbook and the lectures did not match, but both are necessary to succeed. Homework based off text, exams based off both and daily kaiser news (seriously, keep up with this, or find a group to share taking notes). Overall a very enthusiastic and knowledgeable professor, ask questions!
Alissa cares about all of her students. Let me repeat that: THIS PROFESSOR ACTUALLY CARES! No, her courses are not easy "A's", but not A should be. School is work, and at the end of the day, instructors like Alissa Shaw want you to come out of college with a better footing than before you entered. Her insight makes her a memorable educator.
Participation is required and reading KHN is required. Even though the class is 3hrs long, the first half is all discussion on current health issues. The lectures itself can be content heavy and the textbook is required, but she allows you to share the book with others. She is very caring about her students! But, you have to work for the grade.
DO NOT TAKE CLASSES WITH THIS PROFESSOR! She is the hardest grader I have ever encountered. She never lectures during her 3 hour class then expects us to take an exam on lockdown browser with no notes after having to spend HOURS self teaching because she can't help us. Not responsive to emails either.
Tough grader, interesting class. Wish time was spent more on lectures.
The majority of the class consists of discussing Kaiser news, and she doesn't teach much. She teaches for about twenty to thirty minutes, and the rest of the material you have to learn on your own. The quizzes are difficult and sometimes tricky, with not a lot of time to complete them. You have to read the textbook to do well.
She's your typical "no-nonsense" professor. Despite the pandemic, she wasn't very accessible outside of class and not very understanding of students' circumstances. She can come across as a little judgmental, so if you have questions, double check the syllabus first or ask the TA instead.
She's very extreme when it comes to being specific about things, the only problem is is that her input of information does not match the output of information that you have to do in which is more than what she says.
HS 103 not listed. Do not take this class if you cannot commit ALL your time to it. Nothing else matters more than her class. Lectures not recorded even during the pandemic causing a MAJOR inconvenience to students who still work and take other classes full time. If you turn your head away for a moment from the webcam she will call you out.
This class is not ideal for an online environment. Class discussions take up the majority of class time which gives no room for lectures. Lectures are not recorded and is an extremely tough grader. I learned absolutely nothing. Goodluck!
One of the worst professors I've ever taken at SJSU. She doesn't answer emails, offer any extra credit, nor does she spend more than 30 minutes lecturing for a 3 hour class. She does not have any clear grading criteria and expects more out of students than she provides. Wish I can think of any pros for this class other than listening to kaiser news
This professor keeps getting worse, she's stopped caring for students, doesn't communicate well, and doesn't teach. But she expects the most from assignments, grades harshly, and will not offer extra credit! She is a very strict and tough professor and her quizzes and exams are very hard. Do yourself a favor and DO NOT take her.
You have better chances of winning the lottery than getting an A in this class. Professor grades harshly, doesn't answer any emails, doesn't offer extra credit, and most importantly doesn't teach AT ALL. Expects you to read the material to pass the class. I learned absolutely nothing and waisted so much money taking this class. Goodluck!!
I wished we went over the course materials as the majority of the time was discussing KHN. Felt extremely overwhelmed as we would usually never finish the lecture materials on time. You are expected to go through lecture materials and read the textbook thoroughly. Expect to have quizzes, 2 long discussions, 1 group project, 1 essay, midterm & final
Honestly I don't understand why she has such a low rating. I've had her for 2 different courses and both have been great under her guidance. She's fun and engaging. She's a little bit of a tough grader but she gives many opportunities to bring up your grade. Her exams are not multiple choice, they are short answer questions.
Honestly, this class was a waste of my time. The professor barely taught anything throughout the semester, and the majority of the class was discussing Kaiser Health News. There was barely any effort from her end throughout the semester.
I would not recommend taking PH 103 with this professor. Throughout the course she seemed very judgmental when students had questions and was unprofessional. The lectures are such a waste of time, but you have to attend in order to receive participation points for KHN. Good luck if you take her.
If you want a lecturer who talks about Kaiser news all day, take this professor. She is a decent person, but she does not give concise and clear lectures to her students. I would rather watch a YouTube video on Health Policy than listen to this class. AVOID! AVOID! AVOID!
This class was all self-taught. Lectures were not concise and direct. I would advise to really look into other professors who are less condensing.
AVOID! Unprofessional, rude, and not passionate about teaching. Worst professor in the department. Lecture recordings not available, 3-hour class cut short, doesn't respond to emails, not understand of PANDEMIC and its effect on learning, no extra credit, PLAIN AND SIMPLE DONT TAKE HER, SPEND YOUR MONEY ON ANOTHER PROFESSOR. Goodluck.
Prof Shaw is a nice person, but this class is pretty hard to maintain your A. The weekly quizzes will require reading & they lock after you answer each 1.. which sucks. Sometimes it's only 12 min long, with 11 q's... She RARELY lectures and makes you read Kaiser Health News instead. Basically, you will be teaching yourself the whole course.
Cuts 3 hour class short and only lectures for about 30 minutes each session. Most of the class is participating in KHNMB. You basically have to teach yourself everything, and she doesn't give enough time for midterm, quizzes, or final considering the amount of questions. She's also kind of very cranky. Never responds to emails. I learned nothing.
This teacher isn't helpful and will spends all class talking about Kaiser news and getting opinions from students and barely lectures. She almost always ends class early and doesn't give clear direction or go over assignments and exams. Her grading is harsh from her and TAs when there is barely any review on material and direction given in class.
NO WORDS TO DESCRIBE HOW BAD OF A TEACHER SHE IS. IF I COULD CHOOSE ANOTHER PROFESSOR TO TAKE, I WOULD!! SHE GRADES HARSHLY ON EVERYTHING!!! LITERALLY NO LECTURES AT ALL. 3 HOURS CLASS REDUCES TO 30 MINUTES OF US (STUDENTS) TALK ABOUT KAISER NEWS! GREAT, I LEARNED NOTHING FROM THIS CLASS, PLUS MY GPA DROPPED. THANK YOU FOR A GREAT SEMESTER ><
Professor Shaw is the worst! She can be extremely condescending. She left condescending comments on my assignments and replies to emails. She would say, "I hope you secured your internship site already." Even though my email was regarding my signed MOU. She is very slow to reply to you, and I feel like she never really answered my questions.
Condescending, rude, disorganized, irritable, and vague. If you're looking for those qualities in an educator, by all means, sign up for Shaw's class. If you do, be sure to expect to absorb no course-related content, be humiliated for asking questions, vague grading criteria, and to be working a disproportional hour-unit ratio. Save yourself.
She is the scariest person in the world, even if she does nothing to you. She doesn't say anything rudely to students, but her attitudes and teaching styles are clear that she should not work as an instructor. The most stressful class I have ever had in my life. Her class consolidates my decision of not continuing my career in Public Health.
Worst professor I've ever had. Rude, laughs at you when you have a ?, passive aggressive comments on assignments with NO helpful feedback. Grades incredibly hard. "Teaches" powerpoint for 15-20 minutes, but has very hard and specific exams. Even If you are a great student, this class is almost impossible to get an A. She should not be a professor!
Good luck teaching yourself this course. Most of the class was Kaiser Health News and barely about lectures and the text readings. I can't say I learned too much in this class. Tests are very hard and the study guides are not helpful.
The opposite of an absolute unit, so stressful and learned nothing from her. We had an hour to do our final when we're given a 3 hour block and the study guide maybe only covered 10% of what was on the test and she's nice but it feels condescending and the majority of the class was on the news not on our course information
This class made me hate Public Health. I wish I couldve taken it with a professor who actually cared about the students she humiliates her students and the course work is not based on the topic rather its about the news. Avoid her at all costs if you care in the least about your mental health and the actual subject you will regret it
She is the worst professor I've ever had from the entire University. She is rude, unkind, and lacks empathy for her students. Please do not waste your money to pay for her class because you would not learn anything from her. She always wasted her lectures with Kaiser Health News discussions for the entire semester. Her exams are very tricky.
She does not care at all about her student's well-being during this pandemic. She always looks like an angry person all the time. She should be kinder and maintain a positive relationship with her students. Her exams are not related to her teaching in the class. You should take another instructor if you want to learn something about Health Policy.
She spends little time actually teaching the class and spends most lectures on useless current news talks, but then doesn't guide her students how to structure the assignments she gives. The study guides she provides for the class are useless and do not reflect what is on the exams al all. I learned little about health law and policy. 0/10
Not sure why Prof. Shaw has so many bad reviews because she isnt thattt bad. Highly recommend going to office hours bc she will read your assignments and give reallllly good feedback (that's how i passed) Lectures are mainly Kaiser Health News and less on the actual material. Exams are hard but the study guide is very helpful. GOOD LUCK
Quitting her job is the best thing she can do for students. It's not about you pass the class or not. It is more about what you take away at the end of the semester. Hopefully, the PH department will look at students evaluations, so they can replace her or at least open more sections with different professors for 103.
Because of this class, I hate reading Kaiser Health News. Where's all the actual learning objectives for this course? I did not learn anything for PH103 curriculum. KHN should just be a side-lecture, not take up the whole semester. She's very intimidating & makes you scared to even ask something. Idk why she's the only professor available.
I feel like Professor Shaw has a unique teaching style. As seen by other reviews, it is not for everyone, but I think once you get used to it, it is not a bad class. I would say introduce yourself to her, participate in the class, and show that you care and you will do great.
Unnecessary and unrelated material in class. She keep focuses on Kaiser Morning News and do a lot of Unnecessary things in class. Never take again
There's a lot of bad reviews for this professor and I can agree to some of the points brought up. I thought we spent too much time discussing Kaiser Health News but I don't think her class was too difficult. As long as you show up and participate, you should do fine. There were also group assignments and a paper. Pray that you get a good group!
This class was horrible, and it's all because of the professor. Shaw never gets back to students and is always unclear about her instructions, so the whole class is confused 100% of the time. She says something in class and then stated that she said something different the next day. I dreaded going to her class every week. Kaiser News is useless.
Professor Shaw is not horrible but this class felt pointless at times. Most of the class time is taken up by discussing Kaiser News articles. To do well in this class you are going to have to read the textbook because the lectures are almost nonexistent. There are few assignments and when there are assignments instructions are almost never clear.
This class is very long, over 3 hours, and we're given only a 5 min break during that time between her talking and lecturing for almost the entire class time. Kaiser Health News takes up too much of the class time. The course needs better structure and a variety of activities, especially with class being that long, it's difficult to stay interested
This was literally the most pointless class I have taken. The professor never responds to emails, is never clear on instructions, and makes learning the content that much more tedious. Attending class is stressful and I don't understand why this isn't an online course. Everyone was just hoping to pass because no one was learning anything with her.
This class was more like a communication class. I think we only had half a semester studying the concepts. 80% of the time you need to participate and be vocal. You'll need to summarize news. Grade will drop 20% if you miss 1 assignment. Class discouraged learning and was stressful imo
I really enjoyed Professor Shaw's class and her teaching style. She was always available outside of class hours when I had assignment questions. You will have to earn your grade in her classes, it is not handed to you. Professor Shaw only wants the best for her students and will push you to your limits to show you what you can achieve.
I was a bit nervous to take this class due to these reviews. However, im so glad I did and she is definitely one of my favorite teachers here at sjsu. She is extremely down to earth, helpful, kind and passionate. I love her class and teaching style. Try your best and introduce yourself to her. She is great don't let these reviews scare you!
Alissa Shaw is not a professor I would want to take a class from again.
I love her! Amazing teacher and very down to earth. Talk to her in person she is such an understanding and kind person. She might seem dry and rude over email but that isn't how she is in person at all. Don't take it personally. She really is great at what she does.
She's honestly a great professor, she is super caring and she always helps with anything we need help with. She is also super funny.
She can be a bit rude at times and many students describe her as being dry. The class is interesting but she expects a lot out of you also you can never miss class. FOR ALISSA: PLEASE WRITE YOUR ATTENDANCE EXPECTATION IN YOUR RUBRIC. STUDENTS NOT BEING ABLE TO MISS 1 DAY AND LOSE POINTS IS RIDICULOUS. WE HAVE A LIFE OUTSIDE OF UR CLASS.
You can't even miss 1 day of class and she is super rude via email.
This professor is hit or miss. She was great in PH 165A, but I'd avoid her for other courses, except career readiness ones. In 102, she made the material harder and didn't explain what she expected, taking off points without clarification. Her quizzes are on a lockdown browser, causing time anxiety and focus issues.
The professor was rude and disorganized. She made learning more difficult for students.
Meets once a week, one asynchronous day each week. 2 papers, one midterm & one final. One group project/presentation. Attedance matters, she's a great lecturer.
She's a really good professor. Honestly she's a bit strict and tough grader but if you show up the class you'll be fine. Her respond is kinda slow but her feedback on essays are good.
Professor Alissa can be a bit strict, but she's genuinely helpful and funny. Attendance is mandatory, but using tools like Unstuckstudy and the free textbook can make the class manageable.
Very nice and funny professor. I love her energy and the quality of her lectures. My only suggestion is to adjust the attendance requirements. Never being able to miss class due to the loss of points is stressful. Being penalized for a sickness or injury seems a bit wrong and unjust.
Self righteous
Did Not provide enough time for midterm exam.
do not take this professor. she is rude and unapproachable. worst professor I have ever encountered with. I wanted to give her chance but should have listened to the other reviews. she does not give enough time for the midterm and is not flexible about peoples time. you cannot miss class or your grade will tank.
Professor Shaw is a good person and very nice. However, this class feels more like a 6 unit class instead of a 3 unit one. Very heavy on group work, weekly meetings, and agenda-making. She is very strict when it comes to these, and she is a harsh and critical grader. Just don't be lazy and pray you get a good semester group.
This has to be one of the worst professors I have ever taken, actually. She is a very hard grader and is not clear on instructions; she is super passive-aggressive for no reason, especially when you ask her questions(like, "Boi, that's your job). If you don't show up, you won't pass."WORST PROFESSOR EVER
Beware if you are taking her class. If you are not a religious person you better go pick one just PRAY. She does not create a safe learning environment and sets up her students to FAIL. She is extremely rude. I hope that the department sees all her SOTES and fires her because it would do all of us a favor.
AVOID THIS PROFESSOR or it will impact your grade. The class materials are interesting but Alissa Shaw is not. She doesn't care about students. Students are not able to miss a class no matter you're sick or injured. STRICT, TOUGH, AND RUDEST PROFESSOR that I ever have.
Shaw wants to see all her students to fail. She does not grade things in a timely manner. She expects us to follow a strict deadline why shouldn't she. I understand she has multiple classes but so do we? We have to juggle 4+ other classes plus full time jobs and other responsibilities and some of have internships. Avoid at all cost!!!!!!!!!!!
Incredibly rude. She only does things on her time and for her convenience. You can only meet during her one day office hours but if a student needs flexibility, good luck. You'll either be ignored or treated like you committed a crime. There is absolutely no professionalism, empathy, or interest in student success.
THIS PROFESSOR TRAUMATIZED ME. SHE DOES NOT CARE ABOUT THE STUDENTS. SHE HATES HER JOB AND THE DEPARTMENT. ALL SHE CARES ABOUT IS GIVING OUT HER DAM BREAD WHICH NO ONE WANTS. INSTEAD SHE SHOULD BE FOCUSING ON GRADING AND BEING AN ACTUAL TEACHER. USUALLY I FEEL LIKE PROFESSORS ARE MISUNDERSTOOD BUT SHAWS CLASS IS LITERAL HELL ON EARTH.
This was the worst professor I've ever had. She shows clear preferential treatment in grading. She's passive-aggressive, unapproachable, and marks you absent even if you're a second late — regardless of the reason. She also deducts 10 points if you miss a random raffle for her sourdough bread. She's rude, unfair, and completely unprofessional.
Shaw is rude and unapproachable. She belittles students when they ask questions and tries to intimidate rather than support. Grading is harsh, full credit is rare, and feedback is vague. Expects us to follow a strict deadline but she always grades late. Her attitude creates a toxic and discouraging learning environment.
