She's an OK! teacher... She dont relly do much in class. Exams are basically from the notes and the review sheets. Just do the review and read the notes and you should do fine. She lectures as if she has memorised stuff and just puts it on the board for us to copy. Good for lazy students like ME :)
if you want to learn chemistry, don't take her. The class is bs. she is disorganized, lazy, just like to talk about other students personal life and likes to judge for who you are (race) Over all useless professor at HCC, she should not teach!!!!!
If you wanna learn Chemistry, take someone else. She is simply a lazy person who probably come to school to kill some time. You may pass with an easy B but you wont learn****. She Really should not be a teacher... but then again, i was looking easy teacher...LOL. I got what i wished for...
Wow...what a wait of my time. I can honestly say that I came away with nothing from this class. This professor is disorganized, incompetent and uninterested in teaching students. I was so confused from her lack of teaching skills. She will not prepare you for any future courses but will let you out early everyday.
Even though I took this class in a 5 week semester, I still enjoyed it. She was always very friendly and helpful, and if something in her lecture wasn't that clear, then I would read the textbook. She gives a lots of bonus questions, and curves er exams. I made an A and I learned a lot in these few weeks about Chemistry.
Do not take this instructor if you are interested in learning CHEM. lectures are from her notes, she gives you time to copy them but never goes over the information. You learn everything on your own. NOT for those who want to learn.. easy passing grade if that's all you want.
even thou english is not her mother tongue, you can still understand her. I will strongly recommend her to anyone. she gives lots of points. It is an easy "A"....take her.

I took her for CHEM I and thought she was pretty easy. year later i went back to take her for CHEM II and A'sd her class. She is not clear but if you do your work and study you will pass. Lot of Bonus Pts!!!
I took her for CHEM II (Inorganic II), Spring 2006. I had mixed feelings about her..until I got my "A", that is. Let me start off by saying that if you are a lazy MF'er, you'd better run for the Hills! Do all your home work, do the Lab, do the silly-ass Internet work and your Project, and you will get an an "A". And she didn't care alot about me.
I took both chem1 &2 from her. She can get mean sometimes but i will tell u that an easy A as long as u do the homeworks. She also hands out the questions for the exams very very easy. Take it you wont regret...
She doesn't like to answer questions. She can be rude at times. You will have to study but you will most likely earn an A or B, as long as you come to class and try your best. teh extra credit is very helpful.

This is an easy A as long as you do all the homeworks, labs, the project, and attendence is good. i made C's and D's on all the tests and am sure that I failed the final, but I still made an A in the class because I did all the above.
CHEM1411 & CHEM1412 were not easy, but with some effort you can do very well with this teacher. Take notes, work the problems, study, and you will make an A or a B. If you're at San Jac and you can't pass it, take it here. It's worth the drive and the extra expense. This teacher makes it alot more bearable. Be friendly to her and you'll be fine.
Easy A class. You just have to attending her class and do what she ask you to. Do keep all your homework, lab report and internet tutorial in seprate folders. It will help you a lot. Those people that got bad grades its because they didn't follow the instruction. I'm taking her again on the summer for the second part.

As long as you listen and turn in homework (not a lot given), labwork (group work in class), and do the review for each exam, you should be good; that means an (A)if you studied a little.

She is somewhat helpful during lecture but if you get on her good side (by coming early) you can ask her questions and she will answer and review them with you. Shukla is lazy, she can't teach,u have to teach ur self. Ms. Shukla, teach as though she memorized the materials. She can't use other examples to explain.She gets angry when u don't understand.do the review and HW and make a low to high C,D,F plus points & u do good. Rare to make A or B on test, test are different from review. I studied and went to tutoring and recieved low grades,take her if U want a C
She does not like answering questions. You can tell by the way she looks at you. Often, her frustration will show and she'll start venting by raising her voice about how she can't believe you still don't understand the material. She needs to remember that we haven't been teaching chemistry for 17 years like her.

If you are not self-motivated and determined to get a decent grade you'll NEVER survive this class. She give's a lot of work, doesn't fully explain things, races through lectures, & yells a lot so you don't feel like asking too many questions. My 2 cents: DO THE HOMEWORK. It's the only way you'll get through the course and keep up with the material
Chemistry is a difficult subject regardless who the teacher is. Ms Shukla provides you with all info you need to succeed. U just have to put a little effort into the class. Show up for class, write notes, listen carefully, ask for help, u will make an A. I'm 47, returning to school after 25 yrs. I made an A, U can, too.
Let me tell you how she works: show up for class, do the online stuff, do the homework, do the end of semester project. That's all. It doesn't matter if you failed every test, she grades on complition. So just do the stuff, it doesn't matter if it's all wrong, she doesn't check any way. You will pass

I took her for the Summer class, Chem 2. The class wasn't that bad, she was clear on what she wanted, and her lectures are clear. DO the HW! It will get you Extra Cred. on the exams. study the review sheet since its almost identical to the real exam. Overall great class, got an A.

Prof. Shukla is a great teacher. He cares deeply about his students and you can tell she enjoys his work. His tests are challenging but fair Shre is friendly and gives you the tools to make the grade. I will be taking her again for chem 1411 and 1412

I took her for the 8 weeks course, basically if you pay attention and just do the extra credit you will get a good grade, like on every test she will be like if you show me homework and lab i will give 20 extra points. shes kinda mean, so dont get on her bad side. lol always smile when she looks at you.
Test online, gives extra credit, and wants students to pass. Problem is she doesn't care if they learn. Labs are due at the end of semester, but she doesn't look at them she will give you a 100. the final is only difficult because, students do not learn. Only take her if you do not care about the material.
I took her in the fall of 2011 for chem 1 and 2. She teaches 8 week courses. Amount of work is a lot but it was a fast track course. She gave us lots of practice and was very straight forward with the information that we needed to know for tests. Highly recommend taking her.

I thought I was going to get a B on the class but she gave me an A. 4 tests (drops lowest) 1 final and 1 easy group presentation. Not the best teacher in my opinion but she is nice. Be aware taking her class for eight week course. She will give you so much work you will not take her second eight weeks. Her lectures was not clear but participate and ask questions.

Also had a group presentation with a five paper that covered the presentation. You will have a test once a week and labs and homework also. She will drop one of your lowest test grades.
She is really easy teacher. She teaches you exactly what she will cover in the test, so dont miss classes. All tests come straight from the test review. Labs are also easy. She requires a lot of writing stuff, like homework, labs, and papers, but she doesnt read them, just gives points. A lot of extra credits, it is hard to fail this class :)

Look, listen, read, write before you speak to her. This is the best way to get an A. You don't need either the Textbook or lab-book. Just make copies from others. If you are horrible in Chemistry take this teacher. Please do not ask her questions. She gets offended. She force you to do her extra credit even if you don't want to.

I would highly recommend this class. Easiest Chem class at HCC, trust me! I just finished this semester and I barely opened the book. All exams were online except for the final and even with that she allowed open book. Labs are in groups so no major work required. Just do your in-class & at home labs and you will ACE the class!!

Dr.Shukla is the best chemistry professor. She is very informative and is willing to assist every student as she possibly can. There are many extra credit opportunities, so if you fail, you really did not do anything.
CHEM 1411 and 1412 in a 8 week course for both is possible. BS on the LAB summaries, Homework, and everything else, but the test and you will make an A. She will only look not even skim through your assignments. Test grades are important, but HW + reviews= 15 extra points. Every test is like this, If you FAIL Mrs. Shukla's class you DESERVE!

Cool,personable and easy to talk to. All expectations are clearly laid out. Didn't use my book because she explains evtg in her notes online well. Makes chemistry easy to understand and fun. I took her as a hybrid class and it was mostly online. She yells A LOT! She is a mess when grading and she only made us come half of the class of the whole semester. I passed but I learned nothing.
She does not explains the labs before we begin so everyone goes in blind. She doesn't actually grade anything just checks that it was done. Sometimes it is hard to understand her due to her accent. I wouldn't recommend her.

Professor Shukla is available if you need her. If taking the hybrid course, (online and in person) self study and teaching is vital. Yes it may seem easy but when test day comes around, if you don't know your stuff you won't do well obviously. With that being said , the hybrid class is not one Where you'll have vivid lectures AT ALL.
Professor Shukla is very nice and understanding. 3 exams online, exam 4 and final is in person. she gives you enough time to work on your review so its your responsibility to finish it before she closes it.
A very unorganized professor, she says one thing but then asks for something different. There were labs that we had to do but like I've said the professor is very unorganized so we just tried our best. Four exams 3 online which have the check button to see if your correct, and test 4 is in person. The final exam was online with the check button too
This teacher is simply a square peg in a round hole. She comes to class goofing around with cell phone, and yells whenever a student asks a question. She doesn't teach, just sits in class like a statue ready to be auctioned. If you doubt me, HCC officials should supervise her during class. You will write exams on what has not been taught, so beware

Very easy class though you do teach yourself for the most part. Gives a lot of extra credit. Final exam is very challenging and actually brought me down a letter grade so make sure you do decent on it as well as your other grades. Definitely an easy A. Dont be afraid to ask questions, shes not scary like the other reviews make her seem.

MUST TAKE CLASS!! For those that are not good at Chemistry this is the class for you. She will explain everything in a very simple way and will not let you fail if you come to her. I am not a chem guy, so trust me when i say "YOU MUST TAKE".

No homework assignments at all, just the 4 tests and comprehensive final. Responded to emails, but was no help when asking questions on the material. Saving grace was every test was open book, even the ones that had a webcam. I wouldn't have passed if they weren't. I am sure she is better in the classroom like other reviews say. Online though, no.
Dr. Shukla is a friendly professor. Her hybrid chem 2 class had no lecturing, so we had to teach ourselves everything unless you asked questions in class. She let us leave lab early when done. She was a little disorganized in planning labs and would often send many little emails instead of just one with all the info in it. Otherwise, I'd take again
Just the easiest lab ever. Do and submit your lab reports on time, your scores will be >90. The final exam, for me, is a joke. It contains funny questions for kids. She really cares about her students. Reply to email quickly. Overall, easy-going, take her lab if you want A+.
I took the 5 week summer session online. This class was cake. All you have to do is complete assignments from your lab book. Answers are online, Chegg recommended. Easy A. I don't know what the style of the class would be like if it was in person.
I took this class online for 5 weeks over the summer. Lockdown browser required but the test questions were easy! Many of them showed up from her practice quizzes and her final is literally a cumulation of all her previous test questions. This prof is not hard, she provides with lectures on chapters. She also replies fast to emails.
It's essentially self taught. She uploads PP for each chapter, you read it and take the exam. Doesn't exactly coincide with the lab schedule so it throws you off a little as sometimes the lab teacher is working ahead. If you read and take notes, you'll be fine.
This class was 100% self-guided and grades were based solely on 4 tests & 1 final. There is not much room for failure and you are pretty much responsible for teaching yourself the material at your own pace. It definitely would have been nice to get more instruction in some areas, but the teacher was nice enough.

I decided to take her class after reading the rate my professor website. But she is the worst professor in my whole student life. I have all A and B in the rest of my classes but I got C in her class with really hard work. She does not care about students. In her class has Only 5 exams, which she drops one. Do not take it if you love your GPA.
If you take her courses online, they are completely self-taught. With a difficult class like chemistry, you would think some actual instruction would happen. Basically, you read the chapters and watch the random videos she posts (with no organization) or read the power point, and hope you know what you're doing. Not worth it.
EASY. Few quizzes. No Webcam Required. Great lectures. She gives you chances for extra credit. Accepts late work. Super respected teacher. Not many people showed up to the online class, Im not sure if it was required or not. Great professor overall. She understands life is hard and doesnt over do the course load like most professors.
No meetings in this online course. Her communication to the class is confusing at times. If you really want to learn, I don't suggest this course. You literally learn on your own. She does provide sites & powerpoints, but you still need more information. Four hws that count as reviews, four exams, one final. Exams require lockdown browser & webcam.

This profesor is very lazy. She gives no lectures you have to teach yourself everything. you just read from the textbook. She only grades you based on test reviews and tests which are worth 60% of your grade there is not much room for failure. worst Professor do not take her. And she lies about giving extra credit or curving the class grades.
I signed up for her class based on these reviews, big mistake! Worst online class Ive ever taken, get ready to teach yourself (really). No lectures whatsoever! Powerpoints were provided and exams were posted, thats it. Very little room for error, I had to study hard and pray that I knew enough. Good luck if you decide to take her.
ONLINE CLASS: Very responsive teacher who wants you to succeed. Tries to help you through some tutoring program, which I didn't use. If you do the exam reviews and get the basics of all the questions on the review, it's a pretty easy and straightforward A. Also helps that she drops the lowest exam grade for there is room for error.

She is accessible outside of class, but the class I was in required me to teach myself (online anytime). She does provide many great resources. However, this class does require a lockdown browser. I wish that her reviews were a better representation of the actual exams. There were few questions that either came from the reviews or were similar to them. The majority of the exams did not correlate to the reviews which makes you feel unprepared for the exams. I would not recommend her as a professor.

I took Prof Shukla for Chemistry 1. Based on my honest opinion, I believe she is a caring professor and wants her students to pass by giving out extra credit. For her Online Anytime class, she would give out lots of resources, powerpoints, and tips on how to study for each exam. Exams were pretty easy.

let me cut to the chase, shes an OG! I accidentally missed the final deadline since I thought it ended in the evening not morning (canvas was giving every1 problems) she obviously let me take the test after. I mostly taught myself with YouTube. She is nice but firm you have to put in the work and study. She drops 1 low test grade. Take her.

I took this class online and unless you are good at Chemistry or unless you are willing to pay for tutors, try to teach yourself, and cry daily, this class is not for you. She posted about 50 links and said "here, learn this". No lecture videos, not even helpful when I emailed her, nothing.
Took this class as online anytime. There is 1 safety quiz thing at the beginning, 10 lab assignments, & 1 final exam. The final was super easy bc it was mainly safety questions. The labs are online (videos), so u follow along in ur lab manual (which u have to buy). She frequently wouldn't respond to emails & when she did her answers were unclear.
Best chemistry teacher for general chemistry course
Horrible teacher. Does not teach, reads directly from the text book and tells you to just review it and calls it a day. She has no plan for her class lectures. She's very rude, even gets upset when students ask questions. Highly recommend you do not take her class. Do make mistake I did and let these positive ratings fool you.

I took the class online during COVID pandemic, and she made the class so easy to take online. Her exams are supper easy. As long as you study the sample practice assignment, you will get an A in the class. Prof. Shukla is one of the best instructors to have for general chemistry.
She made me hate Chemistry with all my heart. Don't take online anytime. You teach yourself and her practice test are worthless. She makes you get Clutch to see videos in how to solve problems and thats an extra 30 dollars just to see videos.
4 quizzes, 1 final (25% of the overall grade) and 4 assignments/homework (15% total). I never got the book and got a B+.. some would recommend you get it, but definitely not a requirement. Do NOT miss a deadline because it's difficult to re-do assignments.(the professor isn't forgiving in that regard)

She does not do anything on time and if she makes a mistake she blames it on the students. She told us to basically teach ourselves as she did not teach at all. All she would do was read from the powerpoint. She is not at all understanding. Do not take her class

It feels like she is babying chem1 bc she said we hadn't learned right. It was disorganized & hard from the start. Prof reads off the book and exams don't follow the lectures. The guides are a little helpful, but only if you teach yourself concepts. Exams are basically your whole grade lab hardly saves your grade especially if you don't do well
