Shes there for the students who put forth an effort to try and learn the material and is charismatic towards learning.

She's incredibly knowledgeable about the subjects she covers. However this leads her to overcomplicate things at times, making it more confusing for the student. Homework is almost nightly, but manageable. She's also VERY available outside of class.

It was very difficult to follow her during class as she is all over the place. If I only attended class I would have failed. However, she truly cares about her students and goes above and beyond to make sure they understand the material if you put in effort. She held office hours almost every day and that is the only reason why I passed the class.

Her class is just straight lecture. Direct and straight to the point. Some might find it hard because of her accent, but it's not even bad. She cares deeply about her students doing well and understanding what is being taught. Go to office hours if you need help she's very good at that. Overall class was normal, hw is due weekly along with a quiz.

Even though the class material might seem difficult, she makes it manageable. If you can solve the practice problems she gives for each quiz/exam (which are often problems solved in class or from the homework), you'll have no problem getting an A in her class. She also has office hours almost every day, and truly cares about her students.

Tests are exactly like homeworks which are exactly what we do in class. Very nice professor, not tricky at all and very straightforward

She's so sweet! I hadn't taken any kind of calculus before class and she made it very manageable. Quizzes often, but she drops the two lowest ones from the grade book and puts up practice questions that are exactly like the real quiz. Tests are a similar situation. Very doable class, just do the work. Attendance isn't required but I wouldn't skip.

Gives so many extra credits. Wants you to do good all the time. If you just show up to class, you will get a good grade (A, B) because everything she teaches is on the exam. The final was so easy. 3 exams one final. Wiley plus for homework. The lowest two quizzes are dropped. you have to try to fail. huge accent so be prepared. Easy A.

She's always available outside of class, and willing to meet students halfway if needed. Gives out helpful reviews before tests and quizzes, and tries to make sure that all of the students are understanding her lectures. Took her for a few different math classes, she was a great professor.

Her class is very straightforward. She teaches by solving problems from the homework and textbook. Her tests and quizzes are exactly like the problems she goes over in class and the ones on the homework. She is very nice and is extremely accessible outside of class. I would definitely take her class again.

She gives you review guides before each quiz and test that are VERY helpful because she tells you exactly what you need to know for them. Though homework intensive if you dont keep up with assignments, quizzes and tests are made much simpler and she will give a practice sheet prior to the quiz or test which is a model for how it will look like. She is kind and helpful and puts in a lot of effort to make sure all students are supported equally. Lectures are clear and understandable.

All the test are almost same with the practice in class. She always practice the problem before quiz and exam. You will be totally fine and get good grade if you go to class.

Professor Podolny is very nice and thoughtful to her students. She puts in the effort to improve her lectures and takes in feedback whenever she can. This was my first time taking calculus ever so I was really scared. But taking Alla's class has been great. She does thorough lectures which will help you complete the WileyPlus homework that is assigned after every class. The homeworks give extra credit at the end of the semester if you have 80% of them done. Many extra credit opportunities.

The quizzes and tests are exactly like these practice sheets, so she really makes sure you're prepared. Gives a lot of extra credit too! Very sweet lady.

She's a great teacher for any math class. There is a lot of homework. She has about 10 quizzes, chapter tests, a midterm, and a final. If you understand the homework you will understand the exams. I recommend to do the study guides its basically the exam. She is available for tutoring and is very nice. The only bad thing is no calculators at all.

I loved professor Podolny, she really cares for her students and you can tell. You have to try really hard to fail this class, she gives plenty of opportunities and many office hours. She makes sure to check in with every student at least once to help them make a plan and give feedback.

Calc (at least for me) is super hard, I literally had to drop this course freshman year. Retaking it this semester with Dr. Podoly and she's really awesome. The extra credit is probably what's saving me, but if you really need this class as a requirement and you're kinda bad at calc I absolutely recommend her haha.

Dr. Podolny is a great professor! There's lots of problems assigned for homework, but the tests and quizzes are taken right from it so you're never unprepared with a weird question. She's very caring and is always offering to meet with you before/after class is you need extra help!

I loved Dr. Podolny! I'm not very good at math but she was always super helpful and nice during office hours. Two tests, weekly quizzes (4 problems) that she bases off of problems she reviews before the quiz, extra credit, and short weekly homework (which she usually extends the due date for). She really tries her best to make sure people do well!

At first, I was struggling in this class but once I went to her office hours it helped so much. She has office hours three times a day, three times a week so there is no reason not to go. Her class goes fast but again, she is very available outside of class. She gives so much extra credit it's ridiculous. You will do well if you put in the work.

I was worried about this class bc I'm not very good at math, but Podolny was super easy to follow and understand. She really wants her students to do well. Pretty easy grader + gives lots of help. Show up to class and do the hw, and u'll be good. If you are super COVID conscious, not the best prof for you bc she doesn't wear mask well.

It's literally impossible to fail in Prof. Podolny's class. She's incredibly lenient and let us use our notes on every weekly quiz. Despite that, don't abuse her generousity because she really just wants her students to succeed. Super amazing professor and I highly recommend.

Really fast paced professor, I had to reteach myself everything when I got home but that's understandable. Very accessible outside of class, but you've really gotta put in the work to succeed in this class.

Professor podolny was super chill; she emphasizes how much students come from different backgrounds and different prior knowledge with math so shes very forgiving with grading and willing to help with any difficulties you might encounter. She loves when students ask questions, gives great extra credit opportunities, and an overall great professor.

Dr. Podolny gives a lot of opportunity for extra credit and makes it really easy to get help if you don't understand something from class. I missed a good portion of class for something I couldn't control and she was super flexible in making sure I was caught up in the class, and obviously even missing a ton it still was fine!!

Professor Podolny is amazing. I like how her lectures are organized and clear and how everything is connected class work, homeworks and quizzes. Quizzes are basically homeworks problems. And she lets you use the formulas list on the quiz. My group did great, we helped each other and I was able to clarify some concepts I did not get before.

13/10 experience with Alla - the best option for Calculus. Alla's expectations were so durable it made it more enjoyable to stay on top of her class. You have homework on WileyPlus, couple quizzes, two midterms, and a final. Big tip - go to her office hours!! It's best way to get to know her and succeed with tricky concepts that are on quizzes.

She's amazing, her accent may be the only reason people do not want to take her. She provides straight forward feedback and is very understanding. Communication is key to her. If you go to class and take good notes(just copy what she has on the board) and you should literally pass with no lower than a B-. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND TAKING HER.

Professor Podolny is a good professor. For those trying to just fulfill a core/ancillary requirement, take her she's really easy. For those who are taking this for her major, I may try and pick someone else because her class is really easy. The class was tough for me, but Prof. Podolny was so good in explaing the material clearly in class and during her office hours, always giving a plenty of examples relevant to the tests and quizzes, so you can actually learn the concepts step by step. She was always giving extra time to finish WileyPlus, which helped me to avoid the stress.

Prof Padolny is caring, and humbling. Math 131 itself is hard and I think she might be your best choice. A lot of wiley homeworks, but it helps your grade and if you do them all you automatically get a 100. She extends a lot of homeworks, and genuinely wants everyone to pass. I really liked her class as she offered LOTS of resources to help prep for quizzes and exams. Majority of your grade however is from those tests however she offers some extra credit if you do not do so well on some of the quizzes. BEST MATH PROFESSOR I EVER HAD! I took calculus 2 with her and she's very good at lecturing. Office hours are a must, she always explains things so well and is willing to help. Any time I would have trouble I would go, and afterwards understood the content so clearly and got good grades on the quizzes/exams. It was like magic was done to my brain!

You can tell that she genuinely cares about her students and wants them to understand the material. The quizzes are easy if you go to class and do the reviews. They don't have very many questions, so it is easy to drop your grade with just one mistake, but she drops the lowest quiz grade. She provides lots of resources and explains things well.
