SWITCH OUT NOW!!!! He is a arrogant, bad man, who needs to retire now. He is senile and obnoxious and generally not a nice person. His mission in life is for you to fail and he will motivate you to leave the health sciences.
Very hard professor that is a credit to our school. The class is hard but the best you can get. Very helpful if you need help and very encouraging. He advised me to stay in the health sciences and not to give up. He is also very funny.
This was the worst teacher I have ever experienced in my days at college. He makes your life more difficult than need be and he creates a environment not adaquate for learning. Anything you do learn, you lose because of the stress of the exams. Good luck!

a nightmare. avoid at all costs. a disgrace to GU
very bad teacher. very unfair man
This man is incredibly hard but he is also the smartest guy around. Don't listen to bad comments about him. He expects you to study A LOT but the things you learn in his class you can't learn anywhere else. Take him!
You learn so much in this class, but it is soooo much to know. For the next lab test we are memorizing all the bones in the body, including the facial and cranial bones, and every bone in the wrists and ankles. It's definitely passable, but be prepared to really study.
Anything he teaches will be the hardest thing you've ever taken, but it will also be the most you will ever learn. He is intimidating, because he's probably the smartest man you'll ever meet;however, he's more than willing to meet with you and answer any questions,if U initiate.Take it.Good luck!
Great teacher...knows what he is talking about
Switched my major because of him. He is an arrogant, pompous jerk that enjoys making his students feel inferior and miserable. Not just hard, but unfair and intimidating. Exams are a nightmare towards the end of the course - impossible to do well.
Incredibly hard but incredibly smart. His class is probably a requirement if you have to take it. If you do not have to, still do because you will learn so many things. The man will help you if you need help and go to him prepared to study. Do not whine in his office or he will fail you!
Best teacher I've ever had!As the other comments say, this course is really hard but needs to be bc u need to know everything about the body for health professions. Angerio knows everything about everything and if u need any help at all, he's happy to sit down and explain things until you understand.
HE MADE ME CRY! He made me totally rethink my path of life. Sure the subject matter is challenging, but (since I had to take the course over again in summer school) I've learned that there are better ways to teach than what he does. Sorry you have to take him. Get a tutor...better yet, a therapist.
Probably some of the most difficult classes you'll take during your time at GU, but also probably some of the most rewarding. Be prepared to study more than you've ever done before. But, no matter what, you'll still be able to see yourself putting this knowledge to use in daily life very soon.
just plan on hell
If you are taking this I'm sure its a requirement, my only advice is GET A TUTOR NOW! Tests are all multiple choice, but they are impossible. Read all the chapters and memorize your notes verbatim, start studying a LONG time in advance. An all nighter and an aderol isn't gonna cut it in this class.

Great teacher...tough as hell...prepare to work your ass off if you want better than a D.
The best and hardest professor I've ever encountered...the trick to Angerio is recording his lectures and then rewriting them, then listening to them, then rewriting them...i'm telling you, it works!
He doesnt return tests so it hard to figure out where you made mistakes. Trick questions..Unapproachable,unhelpful and not a good teacher. Make other arrangements if you can.. He does respond to brown nosing but I just couldnt do it. If you can stomach it.. go for it....
he's a great teacher. just keep good notes and read your book...dont psych yourself out its possible to do well in his class. yes it takes work but he wants to challenge you to learn.. if you do it will be so worth it. also if you're having trouble go and
Good luck. He's an incredible lecturer, but his exams are difficult. Bring a tape recorder/laptop to class as you will not be able to keep accurate notes without at least one of those. Study hard, and in advance. Cramming for his class does not work. Also, approach him if you're having difficulty/have a question. He's a great guy!

This guy is a real jerk. His lectures are painful to sit through. His exams are pretty much impossible. Oh, and dont expect any help from him because he acts like an unapproachable arrogant ____.
People write bad reviews when they do poorly. If you come to class, bring a laptop, take good notes, and work hard to understand the material. You will be absolutely fine... we are all at Georgetown, and mature enough to realize that just because a class is hard, it doesn't mean that the professor is awful or inconsiderate or a pompous jerk.
Dr. Angerio is an amazing professor! He's very smart and has been teaching this class for a long time. His class is pretty difficult, but definately not impossible. The secret to his class is to study on a regular basis and do the practice exams. Also, investing in a tape recorder is a good idea. Dr. Angerio is very approachable and helpful!
human bio nearly killed me and even though i attended all classes, took good notes, and studied my arse off
Difficult class - studied very hard, recorded the lectures and even joined a transcription group - only managed to pull a "C," and even lost a few people in our program who didn't make it. Only thing I didn't do was study the book, so I'd recommend that together with reviewing good notes and recording lectures.
Really tough class. Must study, study, study. And still study. And yet you still get C's and D's. A good professor, but almost impossible to get an A. Class is also really boring.
This is an unfortunate example of a very important class that is poorly taught and more importantly, with a poor method for evaluating students' knowledge.
difficult does not begin to describe it. study hard. do all of the old exams and do them in advance. And not just one or two days in advance, but at LEAST a week, no joke, and ask him for help if you need it. He is VERY approachable, you just have to make the first move. GO TO OFFICE HOURS. Even if you don't think you need to. It pays off.
What are you trying to prove!
Angerio is ageless. He lectures with a handful of decade old overhead slides. He has probably been teaching this class the same way since 1970 (when my roomates mom took his class). Unfortunately he seems misspeak in lecture every once in a while without catching himself. Also, don't believe what the book says over him. ANGERIO IS ALWAYS RIGHT
avoid
HE IS COMPLETELY UNWILLING TO HELP, ANSWER QUESTIONS, OR SHOW ANY INTEREST IN HIS STUDENTS.
Dr. Angerio is brilliant and a legend at Georgetown. He's extremely intimidating and the workload is insane. I studied more than I have for any other test in my life...but that was for every exam. Try to go and see him though, he turns out to be surprisingly approachable and a nice guy.
i don't know about his other classes, but micro is not bad at all. i got an A without ever reading the book. just copy down whatever he says and memorize it.
He has an ego complex & believes he's the best thing to land at Georgetown. You'll learn absolutely nothing out of his class but CHD. That's what he likes. He test you like a Med Student and he has a grading rubic no one knows about or how it works. He's been at GU for 35 yrs & the only person teaching science courses. You can't get around him
HARD HARD HARD. Be prepared to study harder than you ever have in your life. He seems nice in person but is also very robotic. His office hours dont help, its just a group of people looking at previous tests. He will fail you without thinking twice. Dont take this class unless you couldnt imagine anything else than being a doctor!
hardest tests ever and an impossible final - you never know how you will be grade - it's always a mystery - students who met in office hours with him everyday did the best. I am a nurse now going back to grad. school for NP and must relearn every thing - even the basics because he made us memorize inconsequential details - thanks angerio
His tests are impossible. I recommend studying at least one week before the tests but two is better (but still studying doesn't help that much b/c you could know everthing and still get a C in the class....good luck
The worst teacher I've ever had. Period.
He is incredibely smart, but thats no use bc this class will be the hardest you will EVER take. Test q are UNRELATED to the material and EXTREMELY DIFFICULT. I read each ch twice, recorded lects took notes but barely managed to pass.I love bio,but he and the NHS made me hate anything science related and I just completely changed tracks.
This class was ridiculous and the hardest I've ever taken. Tests were beyond unreasonable. I took meticulous notes, went to every lecture and studied like crazy, but I still got an awful grade. This man made me lose all interest in the health sciences. Do not take his class.
definitely not as bad as his other classes ... but not easy either. if you can make it through human bio and patho then micro should be fine.
hard, but you learn a lot.
he knows everything, if you want to learn he is there to raise the bar. i think he's the best prof at georgetown.
There's a fine line between raising the bar and being hard for the sake of being hard, and I would argue that he's just hard for the hell of it. Almost seems to get off on making your life a living hell, which makes for a less than welcoming introduction to the world of HSCI/Nursing. All tough, no love. Good luck.
In terms of achieving a good grade: MADE MY LIFE A LIVING HELL.you will work your butt off but to no use. want an A in this class? keep dreaming! His classes made me miserable.
Angerio is a wonderful professor. Brilliant. He is also the hardest I've ever had. I worked my butt off and got a C, but I learned a ton. A truly great professor.
This course is very difficult and will be among the hardest ones you take in NHS and Georgetown as a whole. yes its hard, but there is a lot to know about the body. for those that are pre-med or thinking about NP, med school and NP school will be even more difficult. use the text and attend EVERY class, b/c the test material comes from lecture.
angerio isn't as bad as people say. you must go to lectures, memorize notes for exams, maybe read the book and you'll do fine. a lot of info but easy to study for.
Intro to Bio is a joke compared to this class. If you're required to take this, then just be prepared to be disappointed. Angerio is smart as hell, but takes great joy in deflating his students GPA, as well as their egos. No curve. No sympathy. Class everage is usually ~70% and some people study incessantly for it, so go figure.
Hardest Professor ever! Unfortuneatly you have to talk him if you are in the NHS except for Health Care Man. No curves, no help, pretty much bathes in the fact that his students do poorly. You can study 2 weeks prior to an exam and still do bad. He ruins life!
one of the worst professors i've ever encountered. avoid him like the plague
Does not know how to teach. He believes it is sufficient to jabber away for an hour and call it teaching. Little to no interaction with students. Out of touch. He has the gift of making rather easy material seem more difficult than it is. This guy belongs in a lab not a classroom. His social skills are nonexistent.
Hard for the sake of being hard. Learned a lot but grade didn't reflect that. He belongs in a museum, not a lab or a classroom.
Angerio is a genius, but he kills GPAs. If you're looking at these reviews, you no doubt are required to take him. So, be ready. You probably won't get an A. If you're like most people you'll probably get a C. However, no matter what grade you get, you'll learn a ton. He's not as scary as people make him seem. He's actually a really nice guy.
Getting a decent grade in this class can probably be described best by the man himself- "willy-nilly and serendipitous"
Class is difficult but angerio is very helpful and knowledgable he seems unapproachable but in fact its quite the opposite
Horrible teacher. Mysterious grading rubric. Avoid at all costs even if that involves going to another school.
Another blemish on the GU School of Nursing. Smart, smart man but a horrible teacher. He's been phoning it in for years. I think he stays around to ruin as many lives as possible.
Very bad.
Hard class, taught by med school prof. Advice: MAKE THE TIME to read the chapters and organize your notes. Go to tutoring. Your grade reflects how much time you put into it. Tests are hard and require test taking skills, but if you have a strong knowledge base u can figure it out. Take advantage of the 1st two tests, they're the easiest.
Angerio is very hard. Don't buy the text, I never even opened it. Get a bunch of classmates together & start a transcribing schedule. I never took a single note in his class and just read the transcriptions and I did fine. Definitely join a tutoring group & go to his office hours. He will pass you if he knows you are trying even if your grade sux
Interesting class, I learned a lot! Do not need the textbook if you go to class and transcribe his notes. The tests are impossible, so it will be rough on your GPA. But he seems to pass everyone who shows improvement. The final is 50% of you grade, so keep up with the material at the end of the semester and it will help.
Angerio expects you to learn an impossible amount in the given time, and then when you do, he gives you impossible tests that don't even cover what you learned. Also he doesn't make any time for students. Read the text and get good at guessing on his style of questions. However, you do end up learning a ton, and his final isn't too bad.
Extremely hard. Some people didn't touch their textbook, I wouldn't have passed without mine. Read the textbook chapters, and make sense of your class notes with it. Stay alert at all times during lectures. Requires those regular, 2-3 weeks in advance study schedules you never thought necessary. He's inaccessible but I hear he's a nice guy.
Please don't listen to other commenters! Angerio is a textbook on legs, and his exams are super hard, but if you are really into learning about the human body then you will enjoy the material you learn. I used to be so afraid of him, but after I went to his office hours I realized how sweet he is. I'm glad I stayed in the NHS and didn't switch out.
HELL. You might be able to hack it for a little while, but this class is so demoralizing. By the end you won't want to put in the 342308928+ hours it takes to do well.
His patho class is nothing more than a book on tape. The man does not know the first thing about teaching. He simply recites the same lecture year after year. After 40 years of saying the same thing, he knows his script pretty well now. I am unimpressed/disappointed. My professors at community college actually taught and interacted with students!!
Teaches entire 16-week course from memory and from ancient old crusty transparencies in use since the 1970's. Classes are fairly interesting, but unfortunately he does not test on classroom material and your grade will be essentially random. If you have a bio/kinesiology background that will help, but even those folks wind up with C's.
He really does keep track of attendance, so have a friend sign you in if you miss class. He cares more about details and numbers than the big picture. If you want an A, you need to read the textbook before class, record his lectures and memorize them, don't miss any class, and go to his office hours once a week. He's a nice guy outside of class.
It was no doubt a hard class. I put in so many hours to study for the exams. you will have to probably tape his lectures and memorize them. He was actually extremely helpful during his office hours. I didn't buy the book, and did just fine.
GU runs an outstanding nursing program, and Angerio is a major contributor to the program's success. Hardest classes I ever took. Would you really want somebody who was responsible for your life taking "easy" courses? GU Nurses work hard for their grades and for their degrees. Nobody said nursing was easy.
This class was hard, I spent hours in the library studying for this one course but I recommend taping his lectures, listening to them again, and re-writing them. Memorize everything he says. By the end, I had never studied that much for a course but it was worth it, I learned a lot. Don't get discouraged, go see him in office hours!
To survive this class, read the book before the lecture, take very thorough notes, and record the lectures to fix your notes (ESSENTIAL). Share notes and study together - it's very helpful. Tests are very tricky, but you somewhat learn how to decode them. Finals aren't too bad. GO TO OFFICE HOURS! You'll want to die, but you'll live. I promise.
welcome to med school in college! if you dont like biology, quit. but honestly, if you dont like bio what are you doing in a health studies school? i barely pulled off a B- in this class and while i hated it at the time, i loved it. you will never learn more. ap bio? pshh welcome to the real world.
Very tough teacher but very nice guy.
He is probably the most arrogant, unqualified advisor students have ever dealt with. He has no concern for students' well being, and his actions are always about preserving his reputation of the "old wise hard ass". Keep your personal life far away from this man.
I took Anatomy and Physiology back in 1974 or 1975 and it's sad that the comments posted here resemble the way I felt when I was 18 and 19. Dr. Angerio was arrogant, tough, and intimidating. I was scared to death of him! However, looking back, he was extremely bright & accomplished even back then. If you survived him, you can survive anything.
