Great teacher, great person. Organic chemistry is not supposed to be easy, more you practice the more you get better. Helps the student as much as he can. He truly wants his students to succeed. If the mechanism is acceptable you get most credit for it.

Dr. Headley is an outstanding professor. He does his best to answer any questions, and most of the time he is able to clarify it very well. Tests are not easy, but he teaches you reasoning needed for organic chemistry and how to come up with an acceptable answer. He always says "I'm not looking for the RIGHT answer, but one that is acceptable."

Dr. Headley is easily one of the best professors I've had at TAMUC. He clearly cares about the subject matter, is transparent in his grading, and always makes himself available for students to seek guidance or clarification. He is very pleasant to be around. I would take more of his classes if he taught more.

Dr. Headley is really great, the tests are a bit tough and require a very good understanding and use of the material to finish all the problems. However grading is very open to different approaches to a problem, which is nice. A tip is that the material builds, so if you put in the effort in the first 8 weeks, the material gets easier to master.

Dr. Headley is a wonderful O Chem professor. His tests aren't easy, but they really make you think. He likes to focus more on application, so memorization is minimal in this class. While I didn't find the textbook helpful for the most part, the harder synthesis questions at the back of the chapters were excellent preparation for the tests.

He uses the white board which is refreshing from powerpoints. He is willing to work with students. He explains and asks if we need help during lecture.

Dr. Headley is a great teacher. He teaches you how to think about solving a problem and not memorizing. O Chem is not an easy subject, but he will answer questions and works with the class till you understand. Expect homework. Quizes and HW prep you for Exams. Dr. Headley makes clear that the primary goal of the course is to learn to critically evaluate a set of problems. Rather than pushing memorization of the material, he tends to focus on the process of reasoning to an answer based on a set of principals. Super helpful during the standardized ACS exam, in which you could reason to the correct answer.

Dr. H is a very positive and inspirational teacher. It is obvious that he cares about his students and wants them to do well. I have never considered myself a "chemistry" person but his exams are some of the most challenging exams I have ever had to take. His graders seem to be very disposed to marking off points so take advantage of his regrades.

Organic chemistry is always a hard class but Professor Headley makes it manageable! He mostly teaches through examples and is very flexible with grading. He truly wants his students to learn the big ideas, not just the little details. The exams are very similar to the quizzes so there are no surprises. SO glad I got him as a teacher!!!

He taught Orgo over summer B at the University of Florida. He's an amazing teacher and everyone loved him! He went above and beyond to make sure his students did well in the course and he knew just how to explain everything.

I had this professor both for General Chemistry and Organic Chemistry, and he was AMAZING. He definitely cares about his students. Pay close attention in class to examples he uses and study your homework and quizzes when you get them back, and you'll ace the tests. If you have to take a chemistry and one of his classes is an option, take it!

Prof. Headley is an excellent teacher. He spends time to make sure everyone understands and hes not above repeating. He encourages group discussions and he doesn't try to enforce on you what is being taught but rather he tries to convince you of it so you may decide on your own.

Professor Headley is a great lecturer. His way of bringing across the concept to us the students was very good. He gets our minds at work as to thinking our way through and coming up with the right or possible answer. Dr Headley is a great professor. He makes chemistry more practical and easier to visualize. However, the content reviewed in class did not sufficiently prepare the students for the final examination.

Dr. Headley was certainly heaven sent. He knows his materials and due to this it helped me to learn effectively even thou before going into the course I thought I would not pass. No need to memorize formulas or definitions. He teaches toward application and understanding. He speaks softly so I would recommend sitting toward the front. He cares about our understanding of the concepts and is patient with those who need extra help. Homework and quizzes will help your grade as there aren't many tests.

He definitely cares about his students and wants everyone to pass; my class was graded on a curve. There was homework probably once a week on average, but it was usually just one page and pretty easy if you followed along in his lectures. Tests were all multiple choice. The book isn't required but the practice problems help immensely.

If you think Gen Chem is easy, get ready for Organic Chemistry. Dr. Headley is an amazing professor who knows exactly what he is teaching. Although attendance is not mandatory, his lectures are the most important tool that will help you pass the class. Pay attention and take good notes. Paying attention during class and taking the time to have a firm understanding of the material made the class simple. I remember studying only the notes taken during lecture. Dr. Headley done an amazing job teaching the class and raised the bar to the next level having the students apply analytical thinking skills during exams.

Don't be scared of Organic Chemistry! It is a lot of drawing so get some good pens ready to draw notes and Expo markers to work out problems on the whiteboards! Headley approaches teaching students by first giving simple rules and then applying those rules to more complex problems. Take notes and work out problems during the tutorial!

You will learn many aspects of organic chemistry, from industry to even some basics of biochemistry. Dr. Headly has designed his course so that it is fair to students and so they learn and grow.

He type of teaching style is very unique I enjoyed it. Your analytical skills are very important and become better and better. The test problems are difficult but they do test your brain in how to solve the problem. No memorizing it will not work in this class.

It has been two years since I have completed Dr. Headleys Organic Chemistry 2 class. The material was well taught but what I really took most from this class wasnt the learning of the mechanisms or how to do a synthesis, it was being able to confront new problems. The critical thinking I gained keeps me able to do organic problems today.

His is an awesome teacher and is very patient! Thanks to his great guidance and lead that I can acquire knowledge efficiently. So lucky to chose his class! You will learn how to think critically and how to solve practical research problems beyond gaining knowledge. I surely learnt a lot and did benefit from his class! Strongly recommend!!

Great professor who was thorough and more concerned about the method and logic needed to come to accurate conclusions than just getting the "right answer." This is critical in the scientific field, as the methods and research are what's needed to come to a valid conclusion.

Quite possibly my favorite professor in college. He explains the O-Chem thoroughly and is willing to slow down the lecture for the betterment of the entire class. It is obvious he cares about his students and his teaching. He engages you even with some of the most mundane topics or ideas. One of the best in his field in teaching for sure.

Professor Headley is great. His personality is the best because even if you find yourself failing he makes you feel determined and motivated to do better. He even works with the class on the way he grades the assignments.

If you do the homework yourself, you will pass!

Synthesis and mechanisms are the easiest part of the class. His multiple choice questions are very difficult. The information needed for the questions will only come up a couple times in class (he won't write it down on the board). Before any test, study the mechanics, reactants, and terms for all the reactions taught.

Dr. Headley is very good at explaining the content. He encourages critical thinking and is very understanding when it comes to excused absences. He is usually available outside of class and is always happy to help. His class, however, is not a class you can study the day before and pass with a good grade. Takes a lot of work.

Dr. Headley, along with the content he teaches, requires studying and practice. He is very understanding, positive, and cares about students. Enjoyed having him as my professor.

Dr Headley is awesome. You will have a good foundation in organic after taking his class.

Altogether I found Dr. Headley to be engaging both in and out of class. He would often stop and talk to students when he is just passing by to see how everything is going. He cares about how his students are doing but be warned that you have to work for your grade he won't hand it to you because he views fairness to be very important.

Dr. Headley makes sure to cover the material in detail. His office hours are very helpful as well. It is important to attend class and to go over the material daily, because much of the material from Organic Chemistry II expands upon reactions from Organic Chemistry I.

If you show up and ask questions you will get a good grade.

Dr. Headley is hands down one of my favorite teachers. He teaches by giving you everything you need, you just need to be able to apply that knowledge. Lectures were very interesting and if you miss a day, you miss a lot of content. Dr Headley himself is a sweetheart; honestly I wish he was my grandpa. His graders can be tough, but you can regrade.

The lectures are very important in passing. His lectures explain how to get answers rather than delivering all the answers and being required to memorize them. It helps to do a lot of the example problems from the textbook, you may see questions VERY similar to them on quizes and exams. Overall, good proffessor with good lectures.

You know what he expects of you, and generally what will be on tests. Your whole grade is determined by three tests, so don't mess up on 1 or kiss your A+ goodbye. He doesn't curve tests but rather lowers the point drop off for each grade at the end of the year. Seeks understanding of concepts, rather than memorization. Don't get behind, it hurts

Headley is a great professor to have. He really does care about his students learning. He is set on not teaching answers but teaching methods of deducing the answers. He is also easily accessible outside of class, and is willing to help.

Headly is a great professor, but depending on how well you understood gen chem may determine how easily you understand ochem. He goes over some gen chem at the beginning of o chem so as a refresher and if you can't understand what he's referring to then you may struggle a bit. But he is really good at explaining concepts in a simplistic way.

You have to be ready to work hard in order to succeed but he gives you the tools and knowledge to get you there. I highly recommend recommend him as a professor.

The textbook isn't necessary, BUT I would recommend using it; he wrote it himself and it's perfectly tailored to the course and the questions are very similar to those found on exams. I greatly enjoyed having the opportunity to be in Professor Headleys class. It was the only class i looked forward too every week. I highly recommend this professor for anyone needing to take Organic Chemistry! The in person lectures are very helpful and I highly suggest attending every class so you do not fall far behind. I loved Dr. Headleys class because he taught me more than the material but how to apply methods better for all my classes. Its nothing you can memorize; you have to learn the method because of him I feel I can work through any problem.

Professor Headley is very nice and will work with you type of guy! His tests are going to make you think but aslong as you show up to class you'll be more than fine! He will help you in any way possbile and very good person to go to for advice about anything! He is smarter than his own good but utilize it and he will help you any way possible!!

I was nervous to take Organic chemistry after the horror stories I had heard, but Dr. Headley broke it down into simpler terms and made it easy to understand! I like how his lectures were engaging and he provided us with so many sample problems to prepare for quizzes and exams.

I usually have trouble with chemistry but he explains everything so well and breaks it down so you understand. Its important to go to class and learn during the lectures. Hes very interactive and asks questions to make sure you understand whats going on. I would take him for every chem class possible if I could.

Hes really good about giving partial credit even if the answer is wrong, you can get credit for correct formulas. He gives a quiz almost every week along with homework every week to every other week but it does a really good job of explaining the course and is willing to help 1 on 1 if its needed. He can break material down to a 6th grade level!

Dr. Headley is a model professor - always available to thoroughly answer questions, no surprises with his grading, organized, passionate about chemistry, will make you laugh, and wants to see his students succeed. I enjoyed everything about his course, you will not be disappointed. Be ready to study; for your own sake, he won't let you slack off!

Dr. Headley was a great prof for a very difficult class for me I got a B which I worked consistently hard for. He is reasonable caring and his lectures were very good. This class was all online but he made it work. Take chemistry from him!!!

Mr. Headley definitely an approachable lecturer. He was always ready to answer any concerns that you may have. I appreciated his teaching methods. He recorded detailed videos with explanations and examples; hosted regular discussions with the class, and gave tests that cultivated analytical thinking. He is truly a remarkable teacher!

I wasn't able to fully access a textbook for this course, but my professor sent a few chapters to me. The textbook was a little difficult for me to understand, so I didn't use it completley, but the concepts were clearly explained in lectures, so I didn't need it too much. He is a great teacher that I would like to teach me again.

Dr. Headley is one of my favorite professors. The class does take studying and time to do homework assignments, but manageable. He truly cares about his students and wants to see you succeed. He is very open with communication and is open for suggestions or ideas for how he can be better. I have had to work hard for the A, but I learned so much!

I had Mr. Headley my freshman year of college for Chemistry and it was my favorite class. He tends to get ahead at times, but if you ask to review the material he is good about going over it again until everyone in the class understands. The lectures notes are very understanding by everyone. Even though the organic chemistry is tough, professor tried all possible ways to reach students through online class. This course could have more impact if it was in-person. Professor clearly explains the flaws we did during exams and presentation which give us motivation to improve in future.

The class builds on all material covered, so understand & remember everything. Dr. Headley answers emails promptly and appreciates/encourages questions.

Dr.Headly teaches upper level chemistry classes but makes them understandable. He also provides plenty of practice problems to help. No homework will be given just exams and weekly quizzes.

Dr. Headley did an amazing job teaching Survey of Organic and Biochemistry! He made everything very easy to understand, and if the class was confused or there was a question he would try a different approach until it clicked. He does assign homework and quizzes every week, but you can redo them and use them as study guides for exams and make an A.

Very personable. He agreed to take a quiz of all the students names in the class and if he failed he dropped our lowest grade. He gave the opportunity for extra credit. He is a great teacher and person. I enjoyed learning chemistry from him.

Dr Headley is very thorough, and he really wants his students to understand what he is lecturing about. He enjoys participation, and will help guide you in the right direction if you are unsure of your answers. There is a quiz every Friday, but as long as you use his tutorial questions and the practice problems in the textbook, you should be fine.

This was my favorite class this semester, he was very engaging and made a serious effort to learn all of our names. You will have HW and a quiz every week. Tests are in person and he provides scantrons. He might also drop/curve grades depending on how the class does.

For future students you take a quiz every week and if you fail you cannot make corrections on it. Lastly he does not put the PowerPoint slides up in class he mainly has them in a binder and talks about them but he does put them on d2l for you to view. Overall he was a great professor very interactive and I would take his class again.

Homework and quiz every week but it's not hard. He cares a lot about his students and wants to help everyone understand the material. He also has lectures in YouTube that are very helpful if you don't understand the material in class.

He teaches the material clearly and has videos of his lectures online in case you miss a lecture or want to go back on something he said. He also makes sure to learn your name and encourages us to participate in class to solve a problem. Overall I loved having him as a professor, he was also funny.

I got a high A in this course because of Dr. Headley's patience and care for the class. Whenever I brought the questions, he was there and helped students fully, leading to our success in this class. I didn't figure out his class and also what to study until later on and my grade reflects that, but I would take this class again because of how good of a teacher he is. (Make sure to study tutorials and the book)

He's honestly one of the best professors I've ever had. I thought organic chemistry would be hard but he makes it seem very easy. He has videos of everything we learn in the class on YouTube where he explains further. The only thing that was difficult was that there's a quiz every week. But other than that his teaching style is great!
