I think he's an excellent teacher, he goes thru everything very thoroughly and the one time the class couldn't grasp a concept he gave us a take home assignment instead of a test which I thought was pretty cool. Very accomodating, nice and easy to follow.

Second best teacher ever!! Easy, nice, wonderful marker. No problems with this teacher. Okay, maybe one, he keeps us until the last second of class or later, every single time. Only cause he wants us to understand everything though. Very nice guy.

He is absolutely awesome. I used to go to his office to ask questions a lot and he always helped me with very clear explanations. I like him. He is very fair to mark our scores. I didn't like Math but he made it interesting. I would take his class again.

Allen's a nice guy/prof. His notes/lectures are very clear & straight forward out from txt. So basically text is useless. As for his exams, questions r similar as the examples he used in class! if u study = u have the mark! Good semester with you Allen! Jwu~

What a great guy, can't find a bad thing to say about him. He's so willing to help you, he even marked our finals in 2 days (nice to know some profs aren't lazy). The material isn't hard itself, but he will challenge you, slackers need not take his class.

His notes r excellent, I managed 2 get my B+ 2 get in2 precalc. He knows his stuff & knows how 2 teach, most people who fail his class usually do not do their homework or take notes. U can't blame him 4 not passing cause of ur lazyness! Just do the homework & u'll b fine, don't think it is 2 easy!

Great teacher, clear, currently taking his class for the very first time. A little bit stricter than any of the other teachers that I have had in my previous 3 semesters in Douglas, but so far, can't complain about him.

Sharp&quick.Very helpful&fair to his students.He shows understanding&encouragements to lazier students to change study habits.He seems to think failing students' problems r study habits OR his teaching methods thus he encourages feedback.Doesn't intimidate students.Only weakness:Allan isn't too creative (teaching approaches arent creatively varied)

Genuine about stdnts' progress & wants us to 'get' Math. Despite his noble intention, he makes Math seems smhow complicated. He doesn't mean to. He clearly makes efforts to make Math undestandable but can't help tht his methods aren't helping Math to be less abstract. Math still seems secluded only in science, not a helpful device in evryday lives.

He puts questions on quizzes and tests, and wonder where in the world he found the question...extremely hard ones...and his point to this is to "show us" what kind of questions we "should" know how to do even though there arent questions like them in the textbook. Allan is a nice teacher..his intentions are to help students..but his notes are fast.

the materials were hard, but he did his best 2 explain it and he is very helpful..test were not that hard depends on ur understanding ..fair marker..i recommend 2 take his class

HOT! HOT! HOT! I spent the class daydreaming about being Mrs. Majdanac. However, if you are taking the class to learn something, be preared to get a hand cramp-he makes you take too many notes.

hard as nails materials. he does go through things VERY thoroughly. i'm surprised his wrists don't hurt after writing like 10 pages of notes. his voice doesn't even go after only taking like 2 sips of his water. funny thing is he has a beer gut.

Had to drop this class early cause apparently I'm allergic to Math. Gives LOTS of notes. Very fast paced class as well. I'm sure he would be a great teacher for anybody truly comfortable with Math.

cal II .. regretted it my gpa went down da drain. explains very well understood most of da things but da tests were hard SO HARD nothing like homewrk..be prepared to write lots of notes. 10-12pgs of notes OMG just keep up with homewrk go to labs get as much help as possible!

Alan's Class was hard but I got a B+ and math is my worst subject. I've had a lot of different math teachers and he is by far one of the better ones out there. He makes it easy to show up for class on account of is absolute Hotness. Don't listen to the people below me because Alan was very generous with the part marks. Did I mention his hotness?

I hate math but i've managed to do pretty well in the classes i've taken with him and my grades have improved with each level of math. His tests are hard but he's a good teacher.. and he's REALLY easy on the eyes which helps for sure!

Allan is an excellent instructor…very clear and helpful too..his exam little hard, but it depends on your understanding, and the good news, he is an easy marker..i recommend to take his class!

Just started his class and he is a solid math teacher.I have understood the stories and reasoning behind concepts,something that wasn't offered to me in high school and now I know how anyone can be a mathematician.And it helps that you can look at him for long periods of time you know?And drink deeply from his charisma ,good charm and knowledge ;D

Got A on his class!!

Easy to follow notes, nice fella...his notes were not that fast...gave practice tests that were harder than actual tests so if you can do them then you will pretty much do well on his tests..very picky with marking though...

He's a great teacher, and very helpful. And hot too!

This teacher takes quite a bit of notes and seems to explain things pretty clearly. He gives out practice tests which are hard and about on par with the test's difficulty. Just when you think you studied for a test/final there's always at least one question hard as hell that you will not get.

He gives extremely helpful notes. if you study the notes and make sure you know how to do everything in the notes you will do very well! he's the hardest math teacher i've ever had! he'll blow your mind away with all this physics! he's glad to help so visit him during his office hours!

He is a very clear talker and extremely helpful, probably one of the best teachers ive ever had if you have a question, he will not leave you hanging. Just kinda hard to concentrate cus he sure is a cutie!

Really good teacher, great notes and not so hard when marking one of your 3 term tests.Make sure you go to class cause the notes along side your text book can be really helpful His sense of humor ..ah not the best one out there, he tries a little bit too much, but he is not that bad. The greatest teacher that i have EVER had in my life. He is an influence he explains everything crystal clear, his notes are absolutely helpful. He has the ability to make every difficult complex make sense, he is very practical, approachable and actually cares. If you put the effort into it he'll make sure you do well. Best teacher EVER!

This class is super hard and highly conceptual and abstract, but he make it very clear. He explain everything very thoroughly and clearly. I'm amazed at how he could make this difficult course become an enjoyable learning experience. The only thing I could complain was his exam is pretty hard.. But otherwise, he's super awesome.

Take his class if you have trouble with math his notes are super helpful and easy to understand and very willing to answer questions in class. Also do the questions he selects for you very helpful and you'll pass. Best teacher ive had at Douglas

took his statistics class, supposedly a hard class, but boy did he make it CRYSTAL CLEAR!! (",)... he can be strict when it comes to exams and celphone use in class (don't even touch it!), but overall, he is SUPER DUPER COOL!! he is actually one of those few people gifted with the ability to teach, and do it exceptionally too

Had this prof at SFU, he is an excellent teacher, but really tests your knowledge and understanding of the material. I recommend doing all the HW questions assigned and not slacking off if you want a good mark.

Nice guy, helpful when you ask questions and occasionally says something funny. HOWEVER.... I was really distracted with his TIGHT PANTS! =/, and I'm a guy! I can only imagine how distracted the girls must have been, seeing his toned calf muscles! I swear I saw him in the cafe reading Vogue. Undoubtably the most stylish math teacher I've ever seen.

Funny guy. Explains very well with some humor mixed into it. I recommended this guy if anyone needs a good math teacher

I HATED math before I took it with Allan. He's awesome at keeping the class interesting and easy to understand. He's got a great sense humor and is always willing to help. Would definitely recommend.

Ridiculously amazing Math professor. Keeps you engaged, explains things thoroughly and exceptionally well. Very understanding, and funny. Relates problems with real world type examples. My absolute favourite Math professor, ever. THOUGH his exams are thorough and difficult, in that the questions don't look like the ones in class.

Great teacher... I would recommend to everyone. Alan is super helpful and has even stayed after class over an hour helping out at times. The way he teaches you can tell he enjoys his job which makes coming to class easy. I would take another class with him in a heartbeat.

Great prof!!! The way he explains makes math easy and some what fun! He's a fair marker. Whatever is tested is clearly explained during lectures. Questions on the quizzes are only from homework! Generally speaking, I absolutely enjoyed his class!

Allan is the best math instructor at Douglas College. I had taken Calc II with Dan Henschell and he confused me. Allan is relatively new blood (he's 36) and has a different approach, starting with antiderivatives and techniques of integration. He will answer any question with clarity and has a great sense of humour.

Allan is an excellent instructor; he can help you learn and achieve a good grade, but he expects you to do the homework. His notes are great, but homework is essential in order to do well on the tests. This is true for any mathematics course.

A teacher that challenges students to try hard and to understand why they learn what they learn. Doesnt merely propel formulas at us; rather derives and explains where they come from and how they work in the context of multiple problems. Overall, a great semester. Recommend to any whom like to experience epiphanies within the wonders of math.

Clear but fast. Pages + pages of notes - helps when studying. Weekly quizzes to help you keep on top of stuff learned in class. Take Calc II before taking this class.

Perfect instructor ever except his difficult exams.

When you will look back at your education and think of the teachers that had an influence on you, Allan will be one of them. He explains everything crystal clear and his enthusiasm will keep you engaged throughout the whole course. If someone ever wants to make education better, please clone Alan.

Allan is passionate about statistics which makes his lectures more intriguing. He keeps you engaged and is constantly making jokes. Not a difficult class if you keep up with the homework. Prepare for weekly quizzes as well as pre-lecture quizzes loaded on blackboard prior to each class. If I had to take another math class I would choose Allan.

I have taken two math classes with Allan and 4 with other profs. Allan is by far my favourite in terms of both teaching style and character. He has a talent for helping you understand WHY something is done, and weekly quizzes come directly from the assigned homework, so if you do the work, you get the grade. If you care, he cares - and then some.

1st math class in 9 years for me! I rated this course as hard bc it's stats, not bc Allan makes it hard. He goes above and beyond to help students. He helped me override a pre-req to get in and talked to another prof for me. There are 2 quizzes a week. He's amazing at explaining hard concepts and keeps our class laughing. Very intuitive lecturer.

Allan was a great teacher! His notes are superb. I really enjoyed his jokes and his analogies, as it helped me understand the concepts better. His class is a lot of work though, and he expects quite a bit and his exams can be rather overwhelming. He teaches more for understanding rather than memorization. Enjoyed the class and Allan as a prof.

Tests are brutal, but fair in hindsight. Go to class, do the homework, and study for the weekly quizzes. Youll be surprised with how much youve actually learned. Allan takes the pressure off - no judgement, only calculus.

Allan is legit the best professor I've had at Douglas College. He seems to care for every student, he explains the course material really clearly, and he is also a hilarious dude. But both midterms were much more difficult than the other MATH 1120 professor's, so get ready to work. If you work it you will be alright.

Pretty fair, funny lectures, says hi outside of class, chats with students, very decent and nice. Doesn't seem very understanding that students have other classes, as he lectured my class about doing homework one day after a quiz. Don't expect him to help much if you get stuck on a question in class. Had him for 1220, too. Same grade and difficulty

Loved his lectures! THEY ARE ALWAYS ENTERTAINING! He is knowledgeable and pretty clear in his talks . But he writes very fast during his speeches so be expected to go to class and run out of paper quickly or memory (or whatever you use). You gotta know your stuff though for this course though, his midterms are reasonable but you gotta work for it!

Allan's lectures are phenomenal! He explains hard concepts in a concise and straightforward manner while spicing them up with his hysterical sense of humour. His exams are difficult but fair if you put in the practice via homework and other materials. Overall, he made my hatred for Statistics tolerable, which I didn't think was possible.

Allan is self aware; he knows he can come off as a jerk and how difficult the material is for students, allowing him to deliver lectures that are informative yet entertaining. His course load is heavy, and exams can be tough but fair in hindsight. But overall, Allan is hysterical and I doubt I'll meet an instructor like him ever again.

Best math prof out of all math classes I've taken at Douglas. He gives a lot of material to work with, but it's to ensure you understand the content. Tests are a bit difficult but so long as you follow the class material you should be well prepared.

Allan is awesome, I don't really know how he makes math fun, but I always look forward to going to class even if I know the math it self is going to be very difficult. He has online video to watch and a couple questions to answer before class. Class time is split 50/50 lecture then group assignments. So you get so much feed back. He's great.

Alan is an excellent, kind & entertaining math instructor. Even when covering abstract & difficult math you still watch with a grin. He explains concepts well and loves to answer questions. The coursework itself is hard, and many hours are required weekly. Exams are very fair all in all. Alan helps teach deeper understanding of what and why.

The most energetic teacher I have seen in Canada. Very relaxing class environment. Teaching method fits me perfectly. I had to invest extra 2 hours per week in finishing homework, including watching pre-lecture videos and doing homework questions.

Allan. Is. Amazing!! Don't walk...run to register for any of Allan's classes. Calculus isn't my strongest suit, but Allan sure knows how to make it so fun. Everyone needs to take this course. Allan is by far the most engaging professor I've had. I would pay double the tuition to have him for every math class I take in the future. His lectures are engaging, notes are concise, expectations are clear, and he grades fairly. Can't expect much more from a teacher. Be sure to keep up to date, things can go sideways easily if you fall behind.

There is group work in every lecture, which can get boring but the extra practice is good, if you do the work you will succeed in this class.

Allan was far and away the best teacher I had while I was taking classes at Douglas. Great lecturer who encourages collaborating with others to further understanding. The course content is not light, but the steps that need to be taken to succeed in this class are laid out perfectly, and if you follow them you will succeed.

Allan was a nice teacher, but I didnt like the course. He valued groupworks and wanted us to help each other. Some people will be faster than you, and some will be slower than you, which creates some obstacles when communicating with each other.. His lectures were well delivered, however, what was covered in the tests was harder than we learned :(
