Really nice guy and a good teacher. Everything on the test comes from his powerpoint lectures, so you don't even need the text book.

Super easy class. Show up and take notes, dont bother with the book. Even the novel required for the class was optional. He gives a study guide that tells exactly whats on the test and even gives essay questions in advance. i barely studied and got 94 on 1st test, 93 on 2nd test.

This professor is awesome!! He provides a detailed study guide for each test, so you can come fully prepared. He also encourages you to analyze events, and think for yourself, instead of just regurgitating the info.

If you want/need to take history definately take him... if u go to the lectures and study the notes you'll do fine & u wont even need the book, if u dont go then get the book so u can study the ppl. he gives out great test reviews, fair grader and he has a great sense of humor. TAKE HIM!

Very nice and easy Prof! I HATED history before taking this class BUT I got an "A" and a new understanding for the subject. His tests are semi-easy and come from the notes. He is very funny and makes history interesting and not boring. A must take if you have to take hist!!

Kind of an engima. He seems very casual and laid back, but if you look at his website, you'll find there's more to him than he presents in class. Varies the lecture routine with movies and games; which are fun and interesting. Easy class, not a lot of demands on you or your time, easy to do well and get a good grade.

Very easy teacher. No need to buy the book all his tests are from his powerpoints and lectures. Plays lots of games and shows a few movies. Very laid back and chill teacher, but you actually learn a lot.

Mr Renga is a great teacher. He tries to create a fun, interactive classroom. Watched a couple movies, power point presentations, (at times were a little boring b/c he for the most part just reads off of them) hollywood squares. The class had it's moments. He always let us out 15 min early, which was really nice. Fun guy.

Very, very good teacher with a great sense of humor. Easy tests, easy midterm. If you have a fairly good knowledge of/interest in history to start with like I did, and you can write somewhat coherently, his classes are an almost guaranteed A. ^_^

Renga is the coolest teacher ever. He's always cracking jokes and making the class interesting. Watched movies went on field trips and dont worry about the book The Coming of Mississippi too much just a little quiz over it. Great teacher.

Renga rocks! He is one of the coolest teachers. You get 3 EASY take home quizes, 3 midterms which he hands out a study guide for (also easy), and a 4-8 page history analysis paper, which doesn't have much structure, so also easy. He has SO MUCH extra credit, you HAVE to get an A in his class. He has fun games and a field trip for extra credit, too.

This teacher is so easy! There are 3 tests (EASY) 3 takehome quizes (EASIER!) and 1 four page history analysis (EEEEASY!). There are study guides which are very helpful, and his teaching style is very laid back and cool. He throws in games now and a movie, and all in all it's great. Kinda boring at times, but a guranteed A!

He puts you into groups alot to teach the class, but that helps you get to know everyone in your class. He plays alot of games and shows movies too. He's really laid back and cares for his students. I loved taking his class!!

Freakin amazing! This guy knows how to teach a class! You have to get involved but other than that take notes and study for his 3 tests and you'll do just fine. I took this online class and it was excellent! I had a low interest in history and didn't know much about it, but he made it simple and easy to learn and understand. Super easy, just read the power points and answer some questions on the discussion board, only 2 exams. Loved it and I actually learned a lot. Alan is great, take this class!

I took this class online and def. recomend it. he gives pp for every assignment. dont buy the book b/c it all gets covered in the pp's. the assignments are easy (same w/ the midterm and final). dont buy the 'mississippi' book either b/c he only asks one question about it...and its an extra credit question. take him and dont buy the books.

ONLINE: TAKE IT!!.. I took it last Spring '08. This class was easy.. just make sure you do all the assignments. They are super easy, you basically just summarize a subject.. I never got lower than a 9 out of 10 on a subject.. take

Renga is a great teacher! Just go to class, write notes on what he says, and use to book as a reference if need to. His tests are easy and you actually understand the subject. He gives a lot of extra credit, his quizzes are take home, and he has one creative project in the end. Take him he knows how to relate to the students!

Prof. Renga is so awesome. He makes the class fun and interesting. There are a lot of opportunities for extra credit, but you really won't need them because it is easy to do well in his class. Just listen during lecture and take good notes. Highly recommended. P.s. he's pretty cute.

This should be an easy A for most. The weekly assignments are chill. You just have to answer some questions after reading the powerpoints. The text was helpful, but found it not completely necessary. The tests are easy, but the essays take a little work. The research paper is required, but not overly difficult. You choose the topic!

the class wasn't as fun as i thought it be but it wasn't hard at all. We watched some movies and quizzes were take home. Recommend this class but there is not so much information about history events.

Took this class online. Really easy. If you can take it online then do it instead of going to class. Really nice teacher who is quick to respond to emails. Makes the website easy to follow. Assignments are short and to the point. Never opened the book.

This class was really easy, but it was a little slow at times. Take home quizzes the tests are easy. Class participation is a big part of your grade, so don't be shy to speak up!

Prof Renga is the BEST teacher ever! I took his online class and got an A. He does gives you alot of work, but you can use your book on anything. You have assignments every week & paper due...it's not hard as long as you do the WORK! I would take him again anytime. BEST EVER!!

I took this class thinking that the people who previously rated him were serious about this class. This class was too easy and my other history professor was way more informative. Too easy, if you want a challenge take someone else. Seriously.

Renga is very helpful, consistent with responding back to emails, and his lectures are very thorough. He has a clever way of getting to the main point of each topic.

Great class! If show up and pay attention, you should at least get a B. He hates cheaters, which is a good thing. (If you have to cheat in his class you're a loser anyhow.) He gives lots of opportunities for extra credit which is cool. Hardly had to use the book. I printed out the notes from his website, and just added my own to his.

Alan is an awesome teacher, took him for 108 & 109 didnt read either book... just print his lecture notes and attended every class... you have to be brain dead to not pass his class. numerous extra credit opportunities and he makes class fun, gives mass participation points as well.

SO many presidents to remember, including dates and political affiliations of EACH one. This class requires a pretty high English level, so it will be difficult for many international students. (You're not allowed to use a dictionary during the test.) Many quizzes, so study in between classes, or you won't get a good grade; Required course, sorry!

Alan is an excellent teacher. This class does require a significant amount of writing, but he is very fair when it comes to grading. I really enjoyed his class.

I took Renga for Hist 108 and 109. Great professor, super easy class, really funny guy. You do need to attend class as you get 5 participation pts each week that are usually based on attendance. A lot of take-home tests and quizzes. Book is not necessary if you know US history generally; he provides extensive notes on blackboard. Won't regret it.

The easiest class ever! He gives you a lot of points for just being in the class. Take home quizzes actually helped me understand the material. more than 50% of the class was international students. Just attend the class, study before exams, and do your homework and you'll get an A

I took him for the 8 week course & he is such an amazing teacher. He provides a lot of help & he wants all his students to pass. If you don't pass this class with an A, there's something wrong with you. There is 3 take home quizzes, 2 easy midterms, & 1 final. Also, up too 100 participation points. Great 8 week course! Straight forward and enjoyable, good attitude and concise. Lecture notes and study guides up on blackboard. Teaches with multiple styles of effective instruction. Not too heavy on the liberal BS. Good balance of multiple choice and essay questions. Rewards with points for active participation. Be there and have fun for an A.

Took his eight week course. He makes the class interesting and fun. Straightforward. Get the "easy" inclass-participation points. Make sure to study the study guide. The essay questions all come from topics he is covering in class. If you attend class and take the notes you should get an A. Would take him again.

Wonderful Professor. Took him as a GE course and actually learned a lot about history. Workload is not bad, I was taking 18+ units and got an A. For exams be specific and detailed-there are short answers and small essay questions. Short weekly discussion posts and that is it!

I enjoyed taking Professor Renga's online history class. He gives one homework assignment a week. For tests, there are two midterms and one final all short answers. The textbook is online so no need to buy one. Professor Renga responds to emails quickly and he gives great feedback on assignments. I highly recommend taking this class with Renga!

Professor Renga was awesome. The class was easy, I learned and he was easy to get a hold of for questions. He gives extra credit and seems like he cares about his students. He was a little bit of a goob but in the best way! He tried to make the class fun. I would take his class again.

Prof Renga is wonderful! He is clear on what he wants from assignments and lets you turn in assignments late (with deduction) if you need to. I took his 8 week class so there's a lot of reading with 2 chapters and 2 discussion boards a week. However, he makes it fun with the topics and the content of the material is really interesting! Take him!

He was an awesome teacher! Because classes are online, he assigns 2 chapters every week, then you have discussion questions, 3 midterms but you can use your noes, textbook, or internet, they were usually just defining vocab, a few assignments. I hardly read and managed to pass!!!! Definitely recommend him for online classes!

3 exams including the final. assignments every week making it 13 assignments total plus extra credit. he accepts late work with a couple points deducted. he as a very clear grading criteria & what he expects from the class. I barely read & got the grade i needed. super easy & doable class. Take professor renga, you wont regret it!

Renga was laid back and chill. Variety of assignments which is nice from just discussion boards. The only thing I didn't like was he assigned new content the week of finals. Just read the chapters and do the work and it'll be an easy A. Two Mid-terms and a Final. None were cumulative.

So glad I took him, I was in a heavy amount of credits this semester and his class was such a breeze :) Variations of assignments (discussions, movies, key terms) that were all very simple. Could tell he enjoyed history and wanted us to enjoy it instead of be miserable. Textbook was on McGraw Hill so you do have to pay for it as some work was on it

He is a wonderful professor, the exams are an indefinite time and the attempts to repeat as well, the assignments are clear, I advise everyone to take History 100 with him.

I took this class in the 4-week modality, so it was a heavy workload but overall easy. You'll have per week: 4 long chapters to read, 1 assignment (answer 3 or 4 questions about the chapters), 1 discussion (answer 3-4 questions), 1 quiz (open-ended questions:12 "short" questions & 2 essay questions). Tip: do not do the "short" questions short.
