Funny man. Good book, great lectures, and easy tests.

Far and away the best professor at UTA!!!

Great prof! Really knows his stuff and is very enthusiastic about it. Tests were easy but I have to say I learned a lot and enjoyed the class.

Saxe has a good grasp of politics which is somewhat wasted with undergraduate level lectures. Notice how articulate he is when local radio stations call on him for thorny political issues, like the Texas legislature walkout. He ranksapoliticalblack belt.

funny funny guy, first day of class i felt like i was listening to a stand up comedian. His test is not to difficult. There is no text book for his class, test comes entirely from teh notes but he moves slowly so if you miss a day you don't miss much. No attendance requrement, offers extra credit

Hilarious prof!! has a good knowledge of what he is teaching, has guest speakers, repeats everything like ten times, so no big worries if you miss a day! 20 hours of community service for extra credit if you like. mulitiple choice test pretty easy, written final VERY easy!!

I've only had him for a week & he's already my fave prof ever! He's a hilarious little old man who makes you laugh so hard. I dropped govt last semester, I was uninterested & fell behind in studying. won't happen this semester. Saxe is great!

I love this class! He really keeps it interesting with a whole bunch of his personal comments. It's great, I laugh most of the class. If you take poli sci, you have to get Saxe!

I have not taken his class but, everyone know that here at UTA he is the best and your guaranteed an A or B if you just show up and do something. I never heard a story of someone getting worse then a B in his class

He's one of those guys who says controversial things just to incite riot. I don't believe that's the right way to do things, but he knows his stuff and is very animated.

I had him for TX government and he was great! His sense of humor is a little...different, but give him a chance. If you go to class and study your notes the test is easy!

This is a great class, if you like to listen. If you prefer to read a text book and learn in an outline form, you may want a different class. His teaching style is easy, and he repeats himself alot. However, he tends to wonder off topic or jump around alot. He is easy to listen to. Saxe's class is an enjoyment.

Allen is an enjoyment. His 1 test 1 essay form may intimidate at the outset. If you attend and pay attention - you can easily sale through this class with an 4.0.

He lives up to his reputation. Funny, smart and sometimes sexy. Take his class and attend daily for a nice break from the usual routine.

He's very entertaining. I learned a lot. You probably don't need to buy the textbook. But you should attend every class although it isn't mandatory. His tests are over things covered in class.

I took saxe at 8:00am in the summer. I laughed so hard my eyes stayed full of tears. This politically incorrect piece of a man is a nut. Wonderful experience. I loved listening to smokey robinson and aretha franklin, carly simon, he is a joy.

Every student should be required to take POLS from this man

he's nice and pretty fun. sometimes i think he's crazy. probably he is but it's ok because the class is interesting. i'm not saying i like to go to clas but it beats chem or something...anyway the class is easy and he gives extra credit so just show up and listen and you should do fine/

Nothing but praise for this man! He likes to go off on other tangents but he still gets the point across. Only two grades for the class, one test and one set of essays. Very easy, I would recommend Saxe to anyone!

Class was fairly easy, regular attendance not needed, one test, one set of essays. Professor was fairly entertaining, easy if you put a little effort.

Really chill teacher. In case for those that don't know this. He teaches for free! He's got a trust fund that he's sitting on and just loves to teach. He's a great man. If you go to UTA, you HAVE to take him. By the way - his former tests are always floating around... ask around.

He completely understands everything he's teaching. When I had him kinky friedman, the democratic nominee and rick perry's son all came and spoke because it was an election year. he was awesome.

Total nutball. Claims to be openminded but filibusters liberal viewpoints. Distorts history and politics to suit his worldview. Easy A but a waste of time. The 1st 45 minutes of class he rants about liberals, then we did case law for maybe 10 minutes. If you aren't serious, take his class. Otherwise, skip him and take Ignagni instead.

This class was an easy A. Just go to class. If you participate in class he will make the exam so easy anyone could pass it.

This class was incredible! Dr. Saxe made it so much fun, and told tons of stories to keep everyone awake and laughing. He doesn't teach from the textbook, but it's a good idea to read it so you can better understand what's going on in the class. If you go to class, it's hard not to get an A!

Best Political Science Professor in UTA!

Great professor. Learned more in his class the first week than I did the entire semester in another professors class. He made it fun and easy to learn. He has a sense of humor and the class time fly's by. You will not regret taking Dr. Saxe.

Dr. Saxe is very fun and interesting, would love to take again. No book, 2 easy tests...

Not as easy as everybody claims. His class comprises of him telling jokes and how he feels about the world for 90% of class and 10% at the end of class will tell you stuff you need to know. Has alot of cool special guests. He only gives 1 test and 1 essay final. Test consists of 50 T/F which actually require you to study hard for.

Easiest class I've taken. Interesting, and yes, you can expect to learn. One test, one essay, and five points on final grade extra credit. He's fun to listen to.

I didn't even "take" this class. I just sat in. He TRIES (cause lots of students are dumb) to open up your minds. I don't like his depop views though. However, if you are a true student of history and politics you can have excellent conversations with him. He's into to talk radio too which is cool.

I took him during the summer at 8 in the morning. Trust me you won't need caffeine lol. Saxe is definitely laid back and a cool professor. He can go off on a tangent a lot and stay on the topic for the whole class. If you need structure, take another professor. But nonetheless, easy A/B.

Big Al encourages discussion on all current issues and how they relate to civil liberties. He tackles issues from both sides of the isle and let's his viewpoint be known up front. You will always know where Dr. Saxe stands, if you know what I mean, to a great extent. Awesome teacher, I highly recommend his class.

Allan Saxe is GREAT. Easy A. Attendance is necessary in order to take good notes. Gives reviews if class attendance stays high. He only gives 1 T/F test (covering the material taken from the notes) and a essay for the final. You DO NOT need the book. He never used it. Gets off A LOT. By far my favorite teacher I've ever had.

Dr. Allan Saxe teaches his students to think, not merely memorize facts for a test that they will forget ten minutes after completing the test. Dr. Saxe's tests are essay exams. He does not care what your opinion is, but you need to have an opinion and be able to back it up. Great learning experience.

Easiest class in the world. His intro to US government is a complete blowoff class. Don't have to study or go to class. Just go to the tests. You're an abject moron if you don't get a 100% on both tests.

Adorable little guy!!! One test worth 75% of your grade, but the test is easy. One essay worth 25% of grade, but it's pretty easy as well. Many speakers in class; take notes on important info because its the test material. Very funny man!

I absolutely loved Dr. Saxe!! He is so funny and will keep you entertained the whole time you're in class. We only had one test that counted and if you just listened in class it wasn't hard at all. Classes are all fun

Great teacher. He rambles on in class and it does get a little annoying, but all you have to do is ATTEND CLASS and take a few notes. There is only one test worth 75% and a take home essay worth 25%. No final. Don't skip class and pay attention, and you will have an easy A.

Really good guy, funny. Sometimes he rants for 90 percent of class period which makes it boring after a while. Class average was an 87 for the big 75 percent test which means its the easiest B, little harder A.

Great guy, he is really funny and makes it next to impossible to fail. Took him for Wintermester and had 2 grades: a 50 question t or f test and an opinionated test. Easy questions on the tests. He likes mostly science majors so if your degree is in advertising or social work, don't let him know. If you're an engineer or math major, he'll like you.

Saxe is awesome! Unlike any professor that you'll ever have.He tests you on his lectures so best to show up, no book. He gives a review, which helps cuz his lectures tend to get off topic. This was by far he best class I have ever taken. Dr Saxe was so helpful and he brought influential people in from the community to the class so that we would have a better understanding. From Victor Vandergriff to David Dewhurst I met people I would of never thought possible . Every UTA student should take him at least once.

Tooked Mr. Saxe for my Maymester, I was a bit scared since it was the first time taking a 11 day course but I LOVE LOVE LOVED Mr. Saxe. He is AMAZING. His lectures are great very helpful. Totally recommend him!!

The most amazing professor I have taken out of the 3 Universities I have been to. No book needed. Take notes in class and study them. Very nice and is not looking to fail you as long as you listen in class. I recommend him to everyone!

Took two courses with Dr. Saxe in 1974 and 1975. He is still the only prof I recall from my 4 years at UTA. As everyone else has said he makes the course interesting with "real world" anecdotes, no textbook just lectures and an essay and final exam. Test is "open notes" but he doesn't tell you that until the day of the test. Love the guy!

Very knowledgable about the subject matter and willing to help students. It is easy to make an A. Test is multiple choice with a final essay. Be prepared for him to wander off topic frequently to make jokes, tell stories, and act curmudgeonly. I found his deviations to be more exasperating than endearing or entertaining. You have to be really into politics to do well in his class, only one final exam and a final essay. But you have to attend class to know whats going on, and take good notes, and be up to date on politics. I did really well in his class because I was eager to learn. I even almost considered becoming a Political Science major. He is very friendly.

Go to class and listen to his interesting stories. We had one test, the final, which was Multiple Choice. Pool your notes with a buddy, study, and you'll be fine.

I took him for Texas Gov. and absolubly loved his class. You only have one test which is the final(true or false) and a take home essay. He also gives reviews for both and tells you exactly what he expcects. He is also extremely funny so i would definitely recommend taking him!! YOU ALSO DO NOT NEED A BOOK!!

FOR 2312 CLASS, there are only 1 test and 1 final (essay). The test consisted of 50 true or false questions and it was just easy. If you didn't get more than 40 in his first test, please consider if you are suitable in university. It's just free A class. I have skipped more than half of the classes.

Loved this class! Dr. Saxe is hilarious and very helpful. He really wants his students to succeed. At the end of the semester, I calculated my grade and I should have gotten a B. But when I checked my final grades, I had an A! He is a very sweet and generous man. Take his class if you can!

Everyone at UTA needs to take at least one Saxe class during their time at UTA. His lectures will have you laughing, all you need to do is show up for the review but honestly I'd go to class all the time just because it was enjoyable.

Dr. Saxe is absolutely amazing. He is not big on exams, he truly wants his students to learn and not worry about an exam. His lectures were incredible, I wish I could take him for other upper level courses. I took a summer course with him and I would look forward to attending his class.

Allan Saxe is the BEST professor at UT Arlington. There were people who weren't even enrolled in the course that would just come in to listen to his lectures. He's a great teacher but don't take his class if your sensitive or can't handle freedom of speech because he speaks his mind. I def. recommend this professor to everybody!

Mr. Saxe is a gem! he really wants students to succeed and understand the material. Wonderful teacher who throws raw meat out in the open and gets everyone to think & question things. No powerpoint presentations or huge textbook, just speaks from his memory. He really fulfills the role a university ought to play in developing a students' critical thinking ability. Recommend "Big Al - the students pal" for both POLS 2311 & 2312! ;)

If you have thin skin, you probably won't last for his lectures. He's very sarcastic and will speak his mind about political and social issues. There are only 2 grades for his class; A Final exam and an essay. He doesn't take attendance so showing up isn't mandatory. He brings in guest speakers and those were very interesting to listen to.

TAKE ALLAN SAXE for ANYTHING POLS. This guy is not only funny, but he definitely puts a cool spin on boring politics. He is a very giving and caring man. If you are a snowflake or easily offended, stay out. But, if you have a sense of humor and get sarcasm, you'll be fine. Saxism is on the move.

Best collage class i have taken so far. If you are a person who is easily offended , do not take this class . Saxe is a person who is very outspoken . There is nothing of limits with him. His lectures are really interesting , I was never bored in this class. There is only one test and an assignment at the end . Skip class and you will not pass.

He definitely knows his stuff, but be prepared to listen to rants about western society for about 45 min before any actual information. Many guest speakers, which was pretty cool. Conservative/libertarian minded and is very open about that. I don't agree with him politically on most things, but it's good to hear other POVs. Saxeism is on the move!

Classes: He discussed his own stories/political ideals for the 45 minutes, then taught for about 20-30 minutes. He let us out of class early every time. Brought in guest speakers. He has 1 test composed of 50 questions; 1 essay. He reviews the test the class period before the exam and covers every single thing that will be on the exam! Easy A!

ALLAN SAXE! This man is well-known around Arlington and an extremely amazing man. His lectures are hilarious and he is a sweet, sweet man who is a great person to know if you need someone to be impressed. He writes amazing recommendation letters and will do it for any student. He is a fantastic person, and his classes are extremely easy while fun.

Great professor if you are not scared to face a different opinion. He puts government into perspective. Sparks great conversations and some pretty rad jokes. Attendance isn't mandatory, but REALLY helps. If you do not attend class, you will pretty much fail the exam because most of the lecture is conversation rather than actual notes.

He is VERY FUNNY. Only 2 grades and neither comes until the last month of class. Show up to listen to lectures but in a 1.5 hour class youll probably only do about 20 minutes of note taking because he tells a lot of stories. Sometimes its annoying if youre wanting to leave class early but he is interesting and funny so it was a good class. easy A

Professor Saxe is a very well respected man. Most of his lectures are given by guest speakers. Take brief notes of each speaker. One test over all of the speakers and he reviews some information the day before the exam. One easy essay, just don't wait until the day it's due to do it. Gives extra credit for ten hours of community service, so do it!

Mr. Saxe is an awesome professor. I took him for a wintermester and was so surprised how he accommodated his students and really cared about their education. His lectures are funny and really make sense. He keeps you up to date about the world and whats going on as well as his own personal beliefs even though you may not like them. Great professor!

What a funny little man. He makes his lectures easy and wants everyone to pass his course. He is very sarcastic so if you get very sensitive don't take his course. If you like a organized calendar with assignments preassigned, don't take this course. He's very flexible and wants everyone to learn so just show up to class!

This man has lots of experience and speaks about things that are relevant to the audience

All he wants is his student to have a good time at School! He tries to make his leactures as fun as possible! Show up to class and its an Easy A!

I learned more in this class about government than I have ever before. Don't have thin skin in this class and you'll learn A LOT. Take notes during his lectures (at least when he's actually talking about government and politics) and don't be afraid to talk! He really wants students to speak their mind and engage with the conversations in class.

Though I did not agree with some things that Saxe said I would recommend this class regardless of your political leanings and beliefs. This professor was one of the first who allows a healthy debate to take place in the class. And the best thing is that he gives out A's to everyone. All the negative commentators are in Dr Saxe's words "snowflakes"

This class was great. He didn't teach much and goes off on tangents, but his class is suuuper easy. He had one paper and an exam, but the paper was done at home and he told you exactly what would be on the exam. I didn't agree a lot with his personal opinions, but this class was an easy A.

The best teacher in the whole university . Hes a real guy Full of good info . The class isnt hard at all show up listen to him theres hardly any work. Youll pass. Hes extremely funny .

I had the pleasure to have Mr. Saxe as my pols professor during summer. It was 5 weeks but his class was easy. Make sure to attend class to take notes since its lecture based. Hes hilarious & cares about his students.

Excellent professor. I've taken 4 of his courses and I wish I could take even more. Be prepared to think. Don't be a snowflake.

Dr. Saxe is not only the best professor at UTA but a living legend! His class grade is made up of an exam and essay! He also offers extra credit for helping out the community! If you don't get an A in the class then you just don't want to! TRUST me, you want to take his class, and do just what he says!

Mr. Saxe is so hilarious! his lectures arent even lectures. he goes off on tangents a lot. i was worried i wouldnt do well in his class since theres no ppt or any textbook use. but he gave a review before tests which helped. theres an essay too which is easy and theres extra credit. im glad i had the experience of taking him. hes a legend!!

If you go to UTA, then you must take a class with Saxe. Such a wonderful little guy. Brings in guest speakers that are relevant to local gov. 1 all true/false exam (75%) and 1 essay over speakers (25%). Take notes on he's information/review and speakers and you'll do fine. Extra credit through volunteering. Take this legend!

Overall good prof, his lectures do go off topic at times. Your grade is based off of one test and 1 essay only. The test are over his lectures of govt, his essays are based off guest speakers he brings in class. No txt book req, attendence is preferred to do well on the exam. His extra credit involves volunteering

Dr. Saxe is an Arlington legend. I would recommend taking him as its his last semester at UTA in the spring. (he is retiring). His lectures are random and controversial but he lets students speak their minds and he really cares about our success.

Saxe is an amazing professor. He really expanded my knowledge of politics but more importantly on the concept of freedom of speech. He's hilarious. Be sure to take him next semester because he will be retiring after this school year. I've enjoyed every moment Saxe! Thank you!

Professor Saxe loves to lecture and debate. I had two exams. One was an open book multiple choice, the second included three questions that I answered in essay form. Mr. Saxe offers extra credit for volunteer work. This class is the easiest A you will ever get. All the reviews were spot on.

Dr. Saxe was the funniest professor I have taken at UTA so far. Although it was his last semester and we didn't learn too much, it was awesome taking his class. Didn't use a book and our first quiz asked if we believed in aliens!

BEST professor I've taken hands down. Hilarious and doesn't take anyone's bs. Would take every semester if he still taught :( Truly an icon
