Absolutely horrible.Jumps all around. Can't stay focused.Jumbles material.Makes screaming and strange noises in class that scare his students. Please don't take him.Go to Catonsville, take Kabhrel.I got an A with Mr. K!!Kok talks about his ADHD in class. Glad I dropped him.He had me wondering if I was smart enough for nursing school.Good luck all!
He was passionate about what he taught, sure he jumps around alittle but he keeps you interested in the subject matter. I thought he was a great professor. If you want a hard class sign up for professor Hershey's A&P class, I did and I challenge anyone to do the same.

Jumps around WAY too much. Hope you don't have him for lab too.Who wants to take a hard class? Most of us have a life and can't study 24/7. Take a class with Lathrop-Davis or Kabrhel at Catonsville or Halfen at Dundalk. Hey A&P isn't easy but at least you have a good shot at getting an A with them.Who wants to repeat a class, many do who take Kok.
to hard to follow, test does not relate to class discussion or book If you make it through the semester he will give you a c at least ok for lab
HORRIBLE .....HORRIBLE .... TEACHING SYTLE VERY CONFUSING.
THE WORST!!! He was way confusing. If his ADHD is a probelm, he shouldn't be teaching. Plan to not have a life if you attemd his class, you will lilterally be there all night!
Really smart but has really bad teaching skills
I wish I found this website sooner. He's too hyper and delves into irrelavant information but skims over the necessary. His exams don't always match the lecture and there are no quizzes. Two exams for each and the finals - little room for error. Taking this class is a waste of my time. I'll try again but with someone else. Sorry.
He is a very good teacher. It's obvious that he cares about the subject and cares whether or not his students actually understand what he's teaching. That's pretty cool. I didn't earn the grade I wanted, but that was through no fault of his. I thoroughly enjoyed this class!
test does not match his lesson
Very demanding teacher; expects his students to perform like adults... Engaging lectures providing examples of relevance to anatomy/physiology - high energy instructor! The text really helps understand the lecture. Willing to listen and help; obviously passionate about science! Not an easy A... I feel better prepared for A&P2.
I cannot believe that no one has commented on this professor since 08-09...he must have taken the Fall off. This guys is ridiculously hard, goes off on tangets yet NEVER answers your question clearly, and insults your intelligence. He is a genius, but I am sure the majority of his students are NOT, and he teaches like we are. GET OUT WHILE U CAN
I have him as a sub for the second half of my semester. He is a terrible teacher. I have no idea what he talks about and he does go off on topics that do not relate at all to the subject. If I had known he was going to cover this class the second half of the semester I would have dropped it. He does insult the intelligence of his students.
ALL I HAVE TO SAY IS TERRIBLE!!!! STAY AWAY!!!!. EXPECT TO STAY ALL NIGHT FOR THE LABS HE DOESNT LET OUT EARLY AT ALL AND HE DOESN'T REALLY LET YOU USE THE TIME ON THE MODELS WE BASCIALLY JUST DELT WITH THE MICROSCOPE
the worst bio 220 prof. ever dont take him at all i do not care if u love bio he will make you hate it if u take him. 70% of my class dropped it
Well,he shouldn't be teaching a summer class. Trick questions... and when i say this i mean you will never learn what he puts on the test! I think he gets pleasure out of his class suffering. The lecture does not make any sense!!!STAY AWAY FROM HER!
Well,he shouldn't be teaching a summer class. Trick questions... and when i say this i mean you will never learn what he puts on the test! I think he gets pleasure out of his class suffering. The lecture does not make any sense!!!
Oh my, I should have commented on this site last semester. He is a difficult person to understand and should not be teaching. He definitely goes on off issues that has nothing to do with BIO. His tests are not what he teaches let alone what he tries to teach. We all bought the textbook that was never used. Do not take his class. PLEASE!
He definetly is a genius...no doubt about it. He knows what he is talking about, it is just the way he teaches his format. It is alot of information, and it seems very much "All over the place." Iam dropping this class...He is very helpful and wants you to succeed. But, he can not work with all of us. Iam sorry for him and these harsh ratings.
It seems as though as he is teaching at his own level and has trouble placing things in layman's terms. He has expressed his discontentment with the book that we are to buy and use for the course. He is hard to follow, due to the fact that he will go on tangents and lose his place on what he was teaching prior to his tangent. He is inconsistent.
Professor Kok is a little quirky, but funny. All you need to know is in his PPT, if you follow his PPT & use his study guides there's no reason not to do well. His labs are pretty much, here's what you need to know now learn it. A lot of self study but I found his tests & grading very fair. Must be willing to put in the time & effort to get an A.
Had Professor kok for bio 109 & i would not recommend him to anyone who is eagerly seeking a great professor. His teaching style is unorganized, unprofessional, confusing, discouraging, very difficult to follow.Overall just a big disappointment! He really made this course even more difficult than it already is, due to his lack of teaching skills.
If you need to take Biology 109 I am warning you, do NOT take Prof Kok. Don't get me wrong, he is a nice man, but I don't like his teaching methods. He made this class so much harder then it already is. His power points are a hot jumbled mess. This was the hardest class I had ever taken and it should not have been.
He is very unorganized and doesn't use the book. He is hard to understand, everyone complained about the class. His test had little to do with his lecture. I would not reccommend anyone to take him. He isn't a good teacher. He expects you to already know about the subjects that he hasn't taught yet. He only uses his unorganized powerpoints.
Yes this class is hard but it is not the fault of the professor. I went into this class thinking I could coast took my first test and failed. After that I went to Dr. Kok and he was more than happy to answer all my questions and show me effective ways to study. If you are willing to work in his class you will be fine!
The WORST teacher I have ever had!! He makes no sense with his lectures or his powerpoints and he does not go by the book at all. His teaching is all over the place and it takes no time at all to lose where he's at. He makes no sense on his lectures. DO NOT take him under any condition unless you are ready to set yourself up for failure.
Horrible!!!! Don't take BIOL with him. He is very unclear, jumps all over the material. His tests are very hard. He doesn't go by the text book but by his notes, which are very disorganized. Its very upsetting because I spent almost 200$ for the text books and I didn't get to use them. He is also very strange, makes very dark humor remarks.
professor is very hard and not understanding
This teacher is amazing. It is a hard subject but he really tries his best to make it fun. I took this class the semester before and failed because the teacher was not as animated and passionate as KOK. More people passed his class then the other. He really makes it fun to learn this hard subject. You would be crazy not to take him.
He was one of the best teachers I have ever had. He is so helpful if you have any questions or trouble understanding things. The content for this class is intense no matter what teacher you take. The course covers alot of difficult material. You have to be prepared to study. It's a sample of Nursing School. If you study powerpoint you'll do great
He is a genius and really passionate about what he teaches. He is very understanding and considerate. This class is tough material no matter who teaches it. If you need this class, take him. He is awesome and you will learn alot. I wish he was teaching A&P 2, bc I would love to have him again. Just study and dont give up, the material gets easier.
Prof. Kok is definitely an intelligent professor. His passion for A&P 1 is evident. Although a little peculiar, he makes an earnest attempt to help his students as much as he can. But the initiative has to come from the students first. With him, COMMUNICATION is THE KEY. His notes basically HOLDS the ans to all his quizzes/test. Give him a chance..
I took his 7 week summer anatomy class. He is very intelligent, fair, and offers alot of extra credit points. If you put in the work, study his power-point slides thoroughly, and ask questions, you will have no problem succeeding in his class. He is ALWAYS willing to meet with students before and after class to answer questions and offer help.
DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS!!! HE IS SO CONFUSING AND HARD!!!!
VERY unclear on material, requires a lot of printing of power point material in color ink. He jumps from topic to topic.
Passionate about biology and teaching. Truly cares about his students. Always willing to help. Ask questions one on one. Content of the powerpoints is useful but are not arranged in a logical order. Does not use the book. Always go to lab. Quizzes will affect your grade. Great if you do not like rote memorization. Everything is BIG picture concepts
I am not going to lie this class is hard, if you learn by memorization this class is not for you. He is a nice guy but his teaching way did not help me at all. Powerpoints and more powerpoints. Do not buy the book he does not use it. Be careful taking this class and go with your gut feeling after attending his first class.
This is the first time I've had to rate a professor so poorly. He is very difficult to follow, adds things to test which were not discussed and takes FOREVER to grade things. I am a 4.0 student and this class is going to lower my GPA.
He knows the subject but doesn't know how to teach, he is usually all over the place. Offers extra credit but you have to really study, study and study to have a B.
Don''t take this class this professor is awful. All of the place. Quizzes don''t match powerpoints. I hate him so bad for his bad teaching style
Prof. Kok is a good guy, but he just gives you powerpoints of word vomit, with no clarity. If you ask him a question, hell ramble for ten minutes but never answer the question and make you more confused. He tests on ALOT of material and does fill in the blank, in which is questions aren't worded that good. Had to drop. Pick a different teacher.
He means well but I would not advise any individual who requires the material to be taught to them to take this class. He's always all over the place.
Professor Kok is great for those who are really interested in A&P and is willing to spend a great amount of time studying. It will not be easy, but you will appreciate how much you will learn at the end of the course. He is great at using metaphors, his teaching style is very unique; he is super helpful and knowledgeable. Take a challenge!
Professor Kok is a very very good professor that is willing to bend over backwards for you to do well in his class. Professor Kok delivers the material in a very clear manner and his tests have extra credit questions. His extra credit questions are not easy, but if you study hard you will succeed in this class!
Professor Kok is definitely one of a kind! His lectures were always entertaining. He is very clear about what you will be tested on, so there really aren't any surprises. He offers extra credit & he's more than willing to help anyone in need. He truly wants his students to succeed. I wish I could have had him for A&P 2 as well!
Professor Kok is a great professor because he is very passionat about what he is teaching and is always there for you when you need help. Make sure to study the powerpoints that he provides because that is what you will be tested on. I would definitely recommend this professor to anyone who is truly passionate about learning anatomy and physiology.
Great professor, really wants his students to succeed. Very easy to meet with him outside of class and will do everything he can to make sure you're on the same page. Can go a little off topic during lecture, but if you study his power points no reason you can't get at least a C.
He is the hardest teacher I have ever seen in my life. He is a nice as a person but as a teacher, he is the worst. he always have a plan to make you fail. He has lengthy power points which u can never finish reading. Getting A in his class is just like getting star from the sky. I do not say, You won't get it but it is the hardest thing ever.
Too abstract
Kok is very compassionate about teaching. He is very animated and so is his PowerPoint slides. If you work go to school, basically if you have a life, he talks as if that's wrong and tells you that you shouldn't do that. Forget about thinking you can over his slides and pass his test. You wont! He makes it very difficult no matter how much you study
He is very passionate about what he teaches and takes a vested interest in his students. If you need extra help he is always there. I highly recommend taking his class if you are serious about anatomy and physiology. Be prepared to study and lots of it. You wont get a grade you didn't earn.
He is such a nice smart guy but he needs to be teaching at a higher level at a university. It is 200 level class meaning basic concepts to understand further when we get into whatever program. This was the hardest class i've every taken. If you can memorize 8 powerpoints, of 80 some slides for a test maybe this is for you
He's a great professor, uses well detailed PowerPoints, so you probably won't need a textbook. Please don't cram, understand the material because his exams will put you to the test!
Prof. Kok is quirky, animated, and intelligent. He is passionate about teaching and wants all to succeed. While attendance is NOT mandatory, his lecture PPT's are detailed, so ATTEND class to highlight main points. Exams are MP, Short Answer, and Fill-In the Blank w/ Plenty of Extra Credit! DON'T CRAM!! Everything on the exams are on the PPT.
DO NOT TAKE HIM, YOU WILL REGRET IT! I took him for Summer Anatomy & Physiology 1 and his lectures are horrible. His powerpoints has 2 much material on them that is not in the book & he puts material that is not in the book on his tests. You could have the right answer from whats in the book &he will mark them wrong since he doesnt follow the book.
Prof. Kok is hilarious, and yes A&P is hard, but he gives plenty of extra credit. Class is not mandatory, but he gives his exam review papers out in class, so when 3/4 of the class isn't there when he gives that out, they will not do well! Just go to class and it's an easy A!
I took Kok over the summer and while this class was super hard, Kok is there to help! I met with him almost every day to ask questions. He also has a lot of built in extra credit in his tests. Make sure you REALLY understand the material, questions can be difficult b/c of small details. No book needed for his lectures.
Kok is a very nice and helpful teacher, but he expects too much from college students taking at least 12 credits a semester. He encourages his students to learn but his powerpoints have too much information and he does not follow a specific book. hes kind of all over the place when hes teaches and plans for tests. I do not recommend him.
Easily the hardest professor I have had with the most challenging material I have had. Took him over the summer and during this spring semester. easily put in 15-25 hours on this class alone to be successful. Treat this class as preparation for your next set of classes, especially if you are going into a medical field.
Anatomy & Physiology is hard. Likely not like any other class you've taken. Offers a good amount of extra credit each test, along with 20pts at the end of semester (out of 680 possible). 10 lab quizzes, drops lowest 2 scores. Although attendance is not mandatory, you will not do well if you skip. Forget the textbook. Study the powerpoints.
A&P is not a easy class. There is soooo much content you need to know and there is no shortcut for this class. Professor Kok is amazing, he gives extra credit on everything and is wiling to help at anytime you need. I will be taking him for A&P 2. Take him if you want a someone helpful. MAIN THING IS TO STUDY!
Dr. Kok was a great as a person but his teaching style was way less than that. He was very unorganized. His notes are jumbled and they didnt make any sense. He often rambles and its hard to understand his long lectures and at the end I was left feeling more confused than I started. He doesnt follow the text book which makes it even more hard
very harsh and underperforming teaching style. has judgmental views that should be left out of the classroom, especially when they took away from the lessons and time left to learn the content. For a class like A&P professionalism is necessary. Will talk for the whole hour+ and not stop to check on students
Dr. Kok's class is tough. You have to be willing to put in the time to do well. He is always willing to help whenever you have questions. He genuinely cares for the students' success.
Professor Kok is a great man, he is always willing to help his students outside of class. A&P is an extremely challenging course & he expects a lot out of you. He has extremely challenging powerpoints and tricky tests, but if you put the effort in you will be okay. He is a big talker, but I have had him for 2 semesters.
Class was so unorganized. He also made it clear that if you work full time or have any commitment outside of class you will struggle and likely be unsuccessful in his class and any class moving forward. A&P is hard & I DID put the work in but I could not learn all the info he expects you to in between classes. To save my GPA I withdrew.
Reads straight from powerpoint for 1+ hours without stopping to see if students have questions during lecture. Must study ALL the time to pass. Doesn't come across as very understanding/caring.
If disorganization, crudely animated drawings, metaphors and random tangents are your thing; by all means take this class. If you're a student who uses a textbook, has questions, uses real world references, and likes to get to the point; save your money & GPA! He refuses to use the textbook and will quiz on references he never gave/explained.
Professor Kok is a good man! Yet, his teaching style is very chaotic. Powerpoints and lectures are very heavy and the amount of content he wants you to cover is enormous. He makes it clear if you have any life outside of studying for anatomy, you will fail. Tests are half multiple choice, half short answer. Does not care if students are struggling.
Worst professor. Only 4 tests. Only gives you ppts to go off of which are chaotic and don't help. Terrible at lecture, makes no sense and is so confusing, even more when you ask a question. Doesn't review expects you to learn everything with no guidance. No review or topic list so ppl didn't know what would be on the test majority dropped the class
Nice guy, terrible instructor. Class had a 70% attrition rate. Opinionated and unprofessional. The material is presented in an unorganized manner. Tells you study a certain area and includes one question about it. I would avoid taking Professor Kok at all costs.
The professor is not ready to teach. He is all over the place when teaching. You ask a question in class for clarity and he confuses you more with his explanations. His PowerPoints are too many pages. I regret ever taking his class. Only four of us took his final exam. I am just glad the nightmare is all over.
Prof, Kok is not flexible and is not the best at teaching or explaining. he likes to do things his way no matter what the students think/ want. do not take him for any class. He barley knows what is on his own tests that he writes and he will trick you into studying the wrong things.
HIs tests were very hard and he admits to making them harder than they should be. He doesn't give out study guides. He gives a lot of extra credit on the test exam but they were questions you've probably never heard of from class. He makes his own PowerPoints for lecture but they are hard to follow and have 100's of slides. Do not take him.
He is a very nice man, but a terrible professor. He wrote his own tests, making them purposely harder, not testing on most of what he'd covered in his very disorganized PPs. He often went on political rants. He dislikes children, referring to a zygote as an oops. He hated us having responsibilities besides his class as he'd yell about after exams.
If you want to pass the class DO NOT take him. He is a nice guy but not a good professor! He gives very looong power-points and expects you to know every word of it in the test! Also his tests are not multiple choice and very long! Most of my class dropped him!
He says things so matter-of-factly that he acts like it's easy and everyone should know it. He gets mad if you do bad on a test b/c you have a full time job and little study time. He will teach the entire next unit before he tests the unit before, which makes it really difficult to learn and study for a test. The labs are straight forward though.
Good person, absolutely atrocious professor. Insanely long ppts, UNORGANIZED. Too many tangents and fails at being a comedian. Student maturity monologue crap. EC is cool i guess, Lab is straight forward + dropping 2 bad quizzes only good thing. Office hours are abysmal. Askin a question leads to MORE questions. Too many mistakes. Do not take.
There are four to five exams per lecture and lab. This course ends in 4 weeks and we are just starting the second exams topics. This professor is all over the place, disorganized and extremely behind. This course is a nightmare! Don't take this professor!
He is unorganized and egotistical. He will not set clear expectations or guidelines because his belief about education is that most professors make it too easy to pass, and that if you are not dedicating every moment outside of class to studying that you are not trying hard enough (I promise he will lecture you about that on the first day).
Prof. Kok is very nice, and willing to re-explain concepts during office hours. I want to be honest in saying his teaching style is very dense in content. His PowerPoints are typically 60-100 slides on average, and most exams consist of content from 4-6 PowerPoints. Exams and quizzes are what make up your final grade. You get what you put in!
Professor Kok is the most disorganized and obtuse professor I have yet encountered at CCBC. He teaches things in a very particular and peculiar way. His powerpoints are riddled with inaccuracies and awful attempts at humor. This would be fine if we used a text book as a backup source; alas, we did not and we suffered for it. DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS!
worst teacher ever, class was from 5-10pm and he did not teach at all. Needs to be fired
Genuinely the worst experience I have ever had. He is extremely disorganized, had 100+ slide PPTs that he agreed half of the slides were garbage. Would spend too much time on one topic then have to speed through all of the others. Took over a month to receive my final grade. Not helpful when asking questions. Needs to get off of his power trip.
