Non cumulative final; two tests and one paper. Good for culture div UD units
This class is a lot of nothing
ISCOR is poly sci but more less usefull. I feel sorry for people in this major.
All around great,Lecturesclear, takes time with students,Iscor rules!
great teacher, very up to date on current events, took both 320 and 300. Read and take notes and you will do fine on tests, doesn't take attendance.
Greb is a great teacher very knowledgeable in the area of nuclear weapons and its history, he brings to the class real world experience that many professors lack within the Political Science Department.
Greb is a great professor and his classes are interesting and up to date. I think he is a great ISCOR prof. There are usually three tests that are composed of 5 short essay and one or two major essays. I recommend Greb's ISCOR classes.
he's really smart, but expects you to be a genius. GO TO HIS OFFICE HOURS, trust me. Don't participate in class, he tends to make you look like a fool. Tests are essay and take alot of studying. OK class.
Great class. 3 Essay tests, easy if you study. No attendance. Guest speakers tend to be a little boring, but informative. Recommend to anyone looking to fulfill GE.
Hard to stay on task for his class. He doesn't really check if you're doing the readings but he expects you to know the stuff. It's difficult to get class-wide discussions going... he tends to shut down your arguments or divert them entirely.
This class is very informative. Prof. Greb is alway up-to-date in his field. His grading is very easy. Make sure you read the material. The discussions only become a problem if you are narrow minded.
Very interesting professor and class.
Biggest waste of time but a very easy class. Pay attention to his lectures and you'll pass with at least a "B". He gives 2 tests that contain 5 short answer identification of key terms, and 1 essay question.
Read The Lexus and the Olive Tree and all the ECR's and you'll get an A if you know how to write 5 ID's and 1 essay for the midterm and final. Pretty informative class, but don't try to challenge Greb on his beliefs....he'll shut you down and move along.
fun class...cool professor, very knowledable...go to his office hours for additional help...do the reading and attend the lectures...and you'll be fine...
All I can say is that, I spent very little effort in this class, and got an A! EASY. Good class to take for an upper GE.
Great teacher, great GE class. Greb is very knowledgeable and easy going, very willing to help and work with you. HIGHLY recommend.
Great teacher, easy going. Lectures vary with guest lecturers. Very fun simulation project. Our class solved the N. Korean crisis!! Well maybe not, but we tried. Easy essay tests, only midterm and final. Easy grader. Keep current with news.
A lot of reading if you attend class you will know what specific stuff will be on the test. Esp. read the stuff on the course reserve. There were 3 tests all short essay. Beware this class is basically about death and destruction, however very intersting
lectures to the point of sleeping in class. u have to drill him on the review day in order to know what is on the test. random video tests, but was still able to pull off an A- but should have had an A
Know Friedman terms/titles for 1st test, read ECR for 2nd test. Short paper and small group presentation. If he says something will be an ID, it will be an ID term on test. Fairly easy to follow. Don't bother reading books other than Friedman and ECRs.
A fine professor who possesses a real interest in his subject matter. There's a tremendous amount of reading material in this course, so keep current with the assignments or you'll never really catch up. The exams are essay, but if you attend class and take good notes, you should do above average.
Professor Greb is one hell of a guy! I highly recommend taking his classes as you will learn quite a bit. Pay attention to lecture and you'll pass with flying colors. If you get to know him, your grade may become even better.
A lot of reading but it's somewhat interesting. Greb is a cool guy. The class is pretty straight forward. I got an A. All you have to do is pay attention to key concepts he brings up in class and it will probably be on the test. easy group assignment.
He is an ISCOR advisor and very good! Now that he is teaching POLI SCI 375, I'm not sure because he could have the same teaching style of Jonathan Graubart!
Such a good teacher like JONATHAN GRAUBART! The class is really interesting & he picks real world modern examples & readings to study. He is really helpful, funny, organized, & smart. Take this class...but not if you hate reading b/c there is a lot of it and all tests are based a lot on them.
Funny helpful nice guy. Dont have to read texts, just take good notes and you will pass the tests. Group exercise is easy.
Very good teacher. Not exactly revealing about what will be on tests but will give you hints. If you visit him in his office he is very helping and is willing to do anything to get you to understand the subject. Read Friedman and you can't go wrong. Easy A in the class.
Good, take lots of notes.
Grebb is the coolest teacher around. I am a C student and got a B on my test!! Not a lot of work but I definately learned a lot!! Great class would reccomend him if you want a good grade. Grades easy
Great prof. Greb is one of the best a SDSU. All his exams are short answer and essay. Just make sure you do all the readings and go to class so he knows who you are if you ever need anything. He cares for his students and their grades so get to know him if
Don't waste your time. Pointless.
he definitely knows his stuff and if you're not interested in political science, this class isn't for you. you need to know what's going on in the world. he assigns a few books, but he explains them in class thoroughly. he's very helpful if you need help;just stop by his office.
GREB ROCKS!!!!
DO the readings and do everything and you should pass with a B easy..but if not C+ is good enough :) nice huh? well take him you learn a lot about everything..
He incorporated current events into his lessons, so unless you've been living under a rock you should have fun. One essay 5 pg double space on a two small books. There is an IR simulation, which was fairly easy and a lot of fun. I went in not to excited about the class, but I had a blast and I will miss it.
Dr. Greb is one of my favorite teachers. He is fun, available, and teaches a great course.
Greb Rocks!
Great professor, easy class but you learn a lot
Couple tests which include identifying key words and an essay question or two..easy if u stay up to date with the main key terms of the class..i never picked up the book but i also attended most of the classes.. got an A.
Dr. Greb can get flustered at times, be patient and continually nice to him even if it seems that he is rude. He deals with lots of students, but will usually remember you if you're consistent and intelligent. Keep ontop of course material. He's chummy during the ISCOR student society meetings, good ice breaker.
Really good Guy, Have to have a solid understanding of the most basic foreign policy issues. Tests are usaully all essay so be prepraid to write lenghtly exams. I would take his classes again.
Greb is a great guy. I really enjoyed his class- it's all about current events and foreign relations. He puts notes online to study off of. His exams are all short essay questions...but very doable. He has the class do a simulation and that's the funnest thing. It seems dumb at first- but it is so much fun.
I was a little disappointed with this class. I'm not an ISCOR major, but took it for GE. Lectures are scattered at times, and having 3 TAs cracking jokes during lecture was somewhat distracting. Be sure to read the ECR articles for tests and understand major themes from lecture. 2 exams and 1 simulation.
Greb, you're the man. Greb is an extremely approachable professor who is extremely knowledgeable. Read the ECR's before the test and you're good.
He's a really nice guy, just a lil intimidating at times. His lecture notes are pretty useless, but all the tests are basically based off the ECR readings. Easy class, just stay awake. He's also the ISCOR advisor.
Dr. Greb aka The Godfather of ISCOR is the man. He is extremely knowledgeable of the nuclear age subject and his lectures are interesting. His class is easy if you do some readings on the book and memorize the ECR readings. This class is a must for veterans but if you are not an ISCOR major but the nuclear age/cold war interest you, take him.
Greb is basically awesome. his lectures were interesting, and he gave the class a quick but specific look at what ISCOR majors are going to be dealing with. even if you are not an ISCOR major i strongly recommend taking one of his classes. he is great because not only is he accessible, he can be seen at the bar in aztec center watching football.
Learned so much from this man. Love him. Take anything he teaches.
Do yourself a favor and take Greb. You will learn so much from the nuclear age class. His lessons are interesting because he makes use of ECR readings that are current events. His test are IDs that are based on the ECR readings. Write as much pertinent information on his exams, you should spend almost the whole time writing.
BEST PROFESSOR EVER! I changed my major to ISCOR because I LOVED his class!
the class is very easy. you learn a lot. 2 tests consisting of 4 essay-style topics. and 1 five page paper. just pay attn in class and the tests are simple.
Dr. Greb is awesome. If you are interested in current events, nuclear weapons, political science, history, etc. He is a must take. I am an ISCOR Major and loving every minute of it. He is always willing to help if you ask.
Dr. Greb is really knowledgeable and will keep you interested the whole lecture. Tests can be somewhat hard as they are in form of essay questions, so study. But the highlight of the course was the simulation exercise, it is an outstanding learning experience that you will enjoy, take him.
Easy grading! Second part (simulation) mandatory. If you are interested in the topic, take Latha Varadarajans course. She explains the theory much better.
Class was interesting, lots of reading but class mainly based off lectures and blackboard readings. professor is truly an expert in the area, however tends to go on monologues and can become irate at times. tests are all short answer and essay.
Professor Greb's class was not very difficult. Lectures the whole 3 hours, which was hard to sit through at times. 2 bluebook tests which are all ID's and essay. Simulation at the end of the semester was the highlight of the course. Class is not very difficult and is a good class to take for a GE.
Greb is a funny professor but not a good listener. Only real down side are his TA's. They talk and play on their phones during all his classes, it's very distracting. They also do most of the grading which sucks. They are really bias. But if you go to ISCOR meetings they will give you a better grade.
I really enjoyed his class. It's not as easy as people may think; reading is required, and the tests are all essay questions. His TA's do a lot of the grading, but they were incredibly helpful if you take advantage of their office hours. Also they were pretty hott... had to mention that.
Easy class two test which is based on writing. Easy lectures.
Tons of reading assignments. Tests are tough. Writing exams In this class, you are required to do presentation
Dr Greb is not only a great professor but he is the adviser of ISCOR so he is a great resource!! Always willing to help, once you get to know him well you'll love him! His classes involved a lot of reading (like every ISCOR class) but you are good if you skim the books. Exams are all writtenshort response essays. In general it's an easy class
Less of an ISCOR class more of a history of the cold war and repercussions of it today. Tests are 100% essay and short answer, best way to pass is practice writing out answers, memorize, then hope what you practiced is what's on the test. Group project consists of a 5 min PP Presentation, very easy just make sure you know what your talking about.
Dr. Greb is a pretty average teacher. His in class lectures were long and hard to follow if you didn't have any previous knowledge of world affairs. BUT he provided awesome reading material to supplement his lectures which saved me on the essay style exams. Two exams, one simulation style group presentation. Do the reading, participate A
A history class. A LOT of readings are assigned. DONT buy the books(only supplemental) but DO read the articles he assigns. Lectures are boring but pay attention. He's very nice! The TAs help you but are disruptive during tests. There are three tests, all the same. 5 identities(10choices) and 1 essay(2choices). 1 annoying group project. 1 E.C.
one of the best professors on campus.. I would take any class with hum due to his great knowledge and his great kindness. He makes sure students learn and give them more than what they earn due to their effort. Usually 2 or 3 essay exams or ID's.. he gives out the topics before the exam + a group project, which is where your grades might drop
If there is one professor on campus that truly cares about his students and is rooting for them all to pass his classes/graduate, it's Allen Greb. This man is one of the kindest professors and he really knows what he's talking about. He can be a little off topic in his lectures but he is always ready to help any student that is struggling.
Greb is a solid C level teacher, he knows his material well, but is not always the most engaging. He has a great sense of humor and will make you laugh, but it is hard to stay engaged otherwise. Gives you the IDs and essay for exams ahead of time. No papers, one group project. Overall pretty easy to get an A if you put in average effort.
Greb is the reason why I stayed at SDSU. He's like a second father to me, I have taken four classes with him and studied abroad with him in Russia and Estonia and I can genuinely say that he is someone that will I will never forget. He cares so much about his students more than he probably should, If you show him that you make an effort you'll pass
It's Greb, what else can ya say. If you have not taken Greb, you have too. The best professor at State as far as I am concerned. You have two written tests, he practically gives you what is on the test before, but you still need to know what is going on in the class. One simulation, which is SO fun. You need to take him once.
AG is easily one of the most respected and caring professors I've ever encountered at state. He knows that the people in his classes are in there for a reason - because they're passionate and they care about the subject material, so because of that he grades really easy. Never took attendance but I would hate to miss a class bc I loved them.
Greb follows the same basic outline for all his classes: 2 tests and a simulation about a current events issue. The similation is always done in groups, and it makes up the majority of your grade. His lectures could go on for hours, and he is never boring. He makes you want to come to class. Awesome professor. One of the best I have ever had.
One of the best professors at SDSU--or any college I have attended--that can teach anything from history to political science and make it interesting and worth attendinng his class. He largely bases the class on discussions and a simulation about a regional issue. He gives exceptional test reviews. Only the foolish would not pass his class.
Such an awesome class! Greb is very detailed and VERY PASSIONATE about his work. If you show up and pay attention, you'll leave his class a more informed, and global citizen.
Such a great experience. This course made me aware of several regional issues while teaching me to think divergently. You'll love this course if you love Poli Sci too.
Greb is the reason why I declared ISCOR my major. He truly cares about what he teaches and his students. All exams are short answer/essay but he works with his students to create an amazing study guide and hosts study sessions before exams. His office hours are extremely helpful as well and his TAs are the best there are. Definitely take his class!
Greb was a solid professor. There wasn't much homework at all, but rather he had us read short articles and discuss them in class (they were easy to skim). There was a book we had to read, but skimming it worked. There were 2 big tests, with essays and short answers. As long as you have an okay understanding of the class, you'll do perfectly fine.
If you are actually looking to learn, take a different prof. Class was very disorganized and unfocused. Said he would post articles for us to read on our asynchronous days, but were posted either 11PM the day before class, or right before our test which didn't allow enough time to actually learn the material. Tests are very easy though.
Professor Greb's lectures are good and engaging. Tests were short answer questions and not very frequent. I really enjoyed this class. The only downfall would be that the final grade was based on really point-heavy, very few assignments.
He's amazing. Please take Greb's classes!
I liked this class alright. You're graded on two written (blue book) exams and one simulation, which consists of a presentation grade as well as a TA and peer evaluation. The simulation portion of the class got a little disorganized this semester because the professor was out sick for a few weeks, but I'm sure it's usually a lot more structured.
This is a really fun class to take and it is really really interesting. Greb is pretty funny and is passionate about what he is teaching. You are graded based on 2 tests and a simulation where you basically try to mitigate a global problem in groups.
He is so nice. I love his teaching style and his sense of humor. He is so respectful and has a lot of knowledge. Second times taking his class, no regret at all.
I am still currently taking his class but I have loved every class! Greb has made international politics quickly become a passion of mine and I find myself excited to go to class. The class has had two written exams that were both pretty straightforward and he is very accessible to all his students.
