Great lecturer, always willing to help, fairly easy test

took his class for WCV 101 and liked him so much i took 102. He is a great teacher. I can pick out nothing wrong with him. He's a great teacher, interesting, fun, easy tests, returns them quickly---all around great. In fact, now that I've moved on to UNCG- I miss him and his classes a lot!

Mr.. Pennix is the MAN! I think he's my favorite history teacher at FTCC, I love his lectures.

I really enjoyed this class. He makes history so interesting. He includes fun facts in his lessons. We never used the book in his class. Very nice and knows what he is talking about. He is my FAVORITE teacher at FTCC. I recommend him HIGHLY! I've never heard any negatives about him..all positive!

I've been to two different colleges and never had a professor as good as Al Pennix. The world needs more people like him(I swear he should be cloned)! He's also got a really sexy voice & he tells great stories about people in history. I would pay to take this class again if I could. Don't ever pass up a chance to take a class with him!!

Best teacher I've ever had. He makes history interesting. Tests are simple. All you have to do in this class is pay attention and go to class and you'll get an A. Oh yeah, you don't need to buy the book

Great Teacher!

This guy KNOWS his stuff!!! Uses the book rarely... because he doesn't need it! If you have questions he can answer them in depth. Take his class! You will not regret it, even if you don't like history! Not that is matters, but he has a nice car too.

He is such an amazing teacher. He doesn't require a text book, first of all, which saves you about $90. Secondly, he knows everything about history off of the top of his head. He teaches as if he was there when the events took place. He's really interesting. Thirdly, his test are easy as hell. He's a really nice guy and the best teacher of had yet!

He is an awsome history teacher he is a modern day Homer, He makes history interesting and funny. He is knowledgable in his field which has been rare in all the history teachers iv had. This guy desearves a award for his teaching! Im happy i have him next semester

Awesome teacher...never uses the book and doesn't need to. Very funny and helpful if you have questions. Also, the study guides are a nice touch.

A fantastic teacher! He knows his stuff, and connects the history with more recent events to make it accessible to students. Also a nice guy to talk to. I truly enjoyed his class. If you need a history, think Pennix!

Awesome! i took the online section and he was sooooo helpful! online you WILL use the book but older editions are fine if you let him know. edward mckays has them dirt cheap if you need a book. Tests are on Bb and only a simple essay. work in advance- the online class can be finished n a week if you do the 'homework'-just take the tests & do the hw

I started at Forsyth Tech before transferring to a four year university and all I can say about Mr. Pennix is that he is a teacher who you will remember. He made class fun, and the subject interesting. Now in my masters I have had many professors. This one stands out above all the rest!!

Awesome teacher is putting it mildly. Wish all teachers would copy his style of teaching. Not only do you learn, you want to learn. He is extremely respectful of all the students and is interested in making sure class is not tedious.

Best Teacher ever!! Mr. Pinnix is awesome, he keeps history interesting and fun. All his tests are the same format, so you are never surprised when you get the test. I wish I could have him for every subject i study!!

The BEST teacher I have EVER had by far. I've begged him to teach another history class at FoTech, but he said he didn't really want to. I enjoyed his class so much and wish I could just sit in on every class he had every semester just for the fun of it. He's also my advisor, and he does everything he can to help.

Mr.P made Western civilization so interesting. I could actually remember the material because he put so much personality into each and every lecture. He also writes on the board so you can pick out the most important concepts. He's also very agreeable, and can be quite funny. Lastly, you will not need your book.

His lectures bring events to life. Interesting info helps you remember the bigger (more mundane) details. Show up, pay attention & take notes to do well on the tests. I'm now a history major at UNC-CH and after a year of classes here, Pinnex is still one of the best I've had... and UNC has some impressive history professors.

Mr. Pinnix gives no busy work and comprises your grade of 5 fairly easy tests. Despite the easiness of this class, Mr. Pinnix is a remarkable teacher. His lectures are a pleasure to listen to. He is affable, funny, easygoing, and easily the most intelligent professor i've had in college. Get a spot in one of his classes asap!

Mr. Pinnix was very helpful in explaining the material adn really knows the material quite well. He is also very helpful in explaning what was on the tests. He was one of the best history professors i have ever had

DEFINITELY my favorite teacher! He loves history and teaches it in a way that gets his students to love it too. I learned so much from him without really realizing it...and I remember what I learned because I enjoyed it so much! I always recommend his classes to others. If all teachers were like him, then everyone would love learning!

Second class with this guy. His gusto almost makes me want to major to History. Never had a better teacher. I have so much fun in his class and actually remember everything because it's so interesting. The tests only contain material on his study guides, and he clarifies anything you're having trouble understanding. I love him!

He is by far one of the best college instructors in the US! He is such a clear, brilliant, and passionate lecturer that you can't help but fall in love with history while he's speaking. He also breaks down all the concepts in a humorous way (he's a funny guy), so it's easy to retain. He's also nice and goes out of his way to help students as well!

Initially I dreaded this class, but Pinnix made the lectures surprisingly entertaining. He'll keep your attention and use good humor in appropriate places. Very fun class, albeit not very difficult.

I don't like reading. I don't study too well. I usually take good notes. Took both in class and online course. In class I made a B. Online I made A 98. Go for it! He's awesome to talk to. Very energetic and keeps things interestingly fun. Just be great at taking notes. If it means copy word for word, go for it!

Pinnix is the best History teacher in the world!! Amazing lectures--inspirational, clear, and hilarious. Makes History come alive (like a story) instead of being dry facts and dates. Cares about students A LOT and is willing to go out of his way to help them. No homework at all--only five easy tests that he reviews and gives you a study guide for.

I took one of his online classes. He was very helpful and always responded to my e-mails promptly. I would highly recommend him as a teacher!

The only thing that I don't like about him is that he doesn't teach everything! I loved his classes, I took westernization 1 and 2. I just fond out that I have to take an American History, he does that!! The most wonderful that this school has! Gives an ENTERTAINING lecture and gives and equally entertaining review! No book needed for on campus.

He gives you everything you need. Only has tests but gives all information. The tests are from lecture not the book. I have taken two classes that he taught and loved both.

Mr. Pinnix is an awesome professor. I took his History 122 course as an upcoming sophomore from a 4-year college. I was blown away by his effortless recitation of pure facts. He didn't even need to use a textbook. He's just a great teacher. All thumbs up. You will get an A if you attend class and take notes on everything he says. I recorded him.

By far the best instructor I've had the pleasure of having.I will be taking every class he offers. His classes are very light notes that go along with interesting and easy to understand lectures. He also does amazing job reviewing before tests. He truly makes history come alive. Can't praise him enough.

He is such a great history teacher! He doesn't require a textbook. He tests you only on the notes he gives in class which makes studying easy! He writes notes on board and goes over detail during class, so definitely have to go to class. Test were multiple choice with one essay question which he would tell you beforehand. Definitely recommend!

I have had Mr. Pinnix for 3 classes and he is such a great teacher! No textbook is required and his tests are super easy. He gives you a study guide, with all of the answers, before the test. He's always available if you need him after class, and he will work with you if you miss a test.

Took this class online during the summer and it was easy. It was open book with no time limit on the test, 8 discussion boards, and 4 writing assignments that were 2-3 paragraphs. Any issues that came up Mr. Pinnix took care of them right away.

Had him online for my History 1 class. Was super easy and he worked with me because I was unable to purchase the book and he let me borrow his. Very nice guy i met him in his office which is filled with all of the flags and souvenirs of history. Would take him again if it was in class. Easy A and course credit

One of the best teachers I've ever had. No textbook, he gives you the information you need for the tests, and if you show up, and listen to the lectures, you should pass with no problem. Good for those who just want to get their requirements done and for those hardcore history buffs. The history department at Forsyth Tech is top notch.

I took an 8 week online History class with Professor Pinnix. His course process is clear and efficient. Don't expect too much communication or test reviews during the 8 week class. However, as long as you read the assigned chapters, stay on top of your discussion board postings and short writing assignments you will get an A no problem.

Favorite teacher ever! Prior to him I hated history. I retained more from his Western Civ. I &II than I did in 13 years of school. You have to be present to pass, his (excellent) lectures map out the test. If you take good notes and study you'll easily have an A if you know who, what, where, when (approximate & chronological) and why. You are good!

I've taken 3 online classes with Mr. Pinnix during my time here at Forsyth Tech. History has never been my strongest subject but his classes are very easy and that's why I've taken so many of them! I've gotten A's in all of his classes. The writing assignments are graded mostly by participation and the tests are a breeze with the study guides.

Easily one of my favorite professors in my collegiate career. Extremely helpful and kind. I took his Western History course and it was an easy A if you do the scheduled homework, and I overall really enjoyed the class. Occasionally he forgets minor things but he is really good about responding to emails and helping his students out.

Has clear grading criteria and is easily accessible. Does whatever he can to assist you in understanding when you have questions. He is always available by email and will respond promptly.
