The guy likes to talk. I'm not saying that's a bad thing, but he seems to ramble a lot about history...but history that isn't really related to what we're talking about. I find him a little tedious and boring, but pretty easy-going and nice.

Good teacher who grades fair. Tests are hard so be prepaired for work.

Dr. Siroky is probably the nicest professor that I have ever meet. The problem is that his lectors are not very organzied. He tests only in essay, but allows use of a 3 x 5 card per question.

Dr. siroky is passionate about the subject of history. I took his class back in the summer of 2002, and I must say that he goes above and beyond to help his students. Now I haven't really took many history classes since then because I'm a psych major, although I still got a "B" in the class so that is that!

Very nice professor and easy to work with. Could put all you wanted on a 3 by 5 card for tests and final. You knew the questions before hand. You can't help but pass. Took him in a fall session and was sicker then a dog most of it, missed a lot of class and took 3 tests late. As long as you communicate with him you are good to go.

Very nice teacher!!! He was very caring and understanding. His essay tests are kind of hard but there are only two! The paper was kind of hard but he lets you turn in a lot of preliminary drafts and will tell you where you need to fix the problems so you can get a better grade!! I really enjoyed the class because he was such a good instructor.

he's one of those teachers that really want his students to do well and to succeed. He's an older man and very polite. Though his lectures are boring; take notes. Second language learners should totally take his class. he allows take home fianls and you can use any source you want.

I'll give it to you straight, but please read to the end. The lectures are boring and his jokes are so corny that I was embarrased for him. He's old and proper and behind the times. With that said, I came to admire Dr S very much. He is an incredible guy who would probably give one of his kidneys to a stranger. VERY knowledgable, sincere, and warm.

Siroky is a very knowledgeable, sincere, and wiling to help any student. I am not a fan of history and it was a little boring. I learned a lot.

I think a lot of people say he is boring, but they probably don't realize that it is simply the subject that is boring to them. He is very helpful and obviously is passionate about History. He is a hard grader, but is always willing to help if asked.

I really enjoyed his class. It is seriously impossible not to pass. He lets you do the essay as many times as you want until you get an A and he'll correct it for you. His final and midterm are in-class essays and he lets you used note cards on them. I enjoyed his class. He really wants you to pass! all you have to do is show up to class!

i really did enjoy his class, he has a few little tests through the semester, that as long as you read the book you can pass. his midterm and final are essays. you get 5 questions and you write as much as you can about it on 4x6 cards. then you can use them on the test. there is 1 essay, and you keep resubmitting it till you get an A

Very slow. Nice guy, very nice guy. I fell asleep in all of his class sessions and he never said anything, and I ended getting a B in the class! Boring class, boring professor, but ehh...easy, kind of. He's just a hard professor to figure out.

A research paper(which you will have to revise several times to get a good grade on), the midterm and the final which are both in class essays. He gives you 5 possible essay questions to prepare for like a week before each. Attendance not mandatory. Hes laid back

Allen Siroky was probably the best and most important professor I have ever had in my life. I absolutely could not believe the level of understanding he showed me during a hard time in my life and how willing he was to help me pass his class despite all the problems I had. Show him you're putting in an honest effort and he will NOT let you fail.

Well the class itself was very boring it was difficult to stay awake but he is very informative. I thought this class was pretty easy for me. All you have to do to get an A on the research paper is turn it in before the due dates and get graded before the actual turn in date because he will give you extra time to complete it.

He just wants you to try. He focuses on his research essay but gives plenty of time for you to get a perfect score on it. He has a midterm and final which are essay exams. If you put the right time in and go to ETC you should have no issue passing the class. Plus he is a nice overall teacher.

whew! this teacher has no life and wants to deprive you of yours. You can get a B, at least but plan on working extremely hard for it. He is very particular and things are done ONLY his way. The entire class is based upon essay writing. You may think that you are a good writer but everything is done SIROKY style. It is HARD Work!

At first i thought this class was going to be hard and all because of the requirements Dr. Siroky wanted. His class wasn't so bad, although he just lectures all day. He gives out 1 research paper and gives you plenty of time to redo and turn it in for a better grade. There's no homework but there's 4 essay through out the semester. TIP: go to ETC!!

This class isn't an easy A. You need to do the work. Don't wait until last minute to do the essay or the note cards. He is very helpful if you need feedback and he even let me borrow his old textbook until I was able to get one myself. Definitely go to E.T.C. for the class; even if just for the note cards.

He is very helpful professor that is always available to help you. However the class does require you to do work and it involves alot of reading and it requires you to put in effort.

Dr. Siroky is an excellent professor. He knows his materiel and expects his students to be at their drive to be attentive to the class. With that being said, he grades really strictly, ETC will help you A. LOT. if you prefer going solo you won't last long within his class and might want to consider finding some else.

Great lectures. Very clear about what he expects. Assigns a single paper, which is normal length (although he requires you to turn it in at several stages of working - to prevent procrastination). The grading is very clear, and he does his best to help students with success, such as providing examples of what information is useful on the notecards.

mid term, final and a 2 page essay is all you have to do. but he is a very tough grader, writing skills are must if your a poor writer like I am your going to need help. have him read your paper drafts before turning it in he will tell you what to fix. he is willing to help if you go to him and ask. better teacher then advertised

Loved the class and he is an amazing and understanding instructor.

You only take two exams and one quiz the whole semester. He even gives you the exam questions to look at and make one notecard per essay question. If you turn in the notecards for him to check, then you'll get extra credit.

He is a tough grader, but he lets you know when all the work,on the syllabus, is due so you can turn it in as much as possible, get good feedback, & adjust your work to get an A. If you don't turn in the work early, you will most likely fail bc of how hard he grades. We had 2 pop quizes, a midterm, and a final. His hw is a challenge but not a lot

Allen can become a valuable friend to you is you respect the classroom the way he does. Sit in the front, take notes, pay attention, and bring a coffee because his lectures can break the weak. In exchange for this, he outlines his course assignments simply and way ahead of time and offers extra credit for turbo things in for review ahead of time.

He's a great instructor. Gives us the opportunity to turn in work early. He'll review it and let us make adjustments before the final do date. This gives us the opportunity to improve on our grades. He'll make adjustments to his schedule to meet with us if we cannot meet him during his office hrs. He's the only one instructor who wished us da best.

Dr. Sirokey is amazing! Lectures are informative, he loves a student that participates. DO NOT take this class if you have no intention of working hard. Show respect in class, behave like an adult and always keep in contact this will help you succeed. Dr. Sirokey gives students lots of feedback and it may seem overwhelming, but it is helpful.

An under-rated instructor at Fresno city. Just go to class and do your work and it's an easy pass. Stay on his good side or grading is tougher.

He's a great teacher, I tutor for his Hist 11 course and its straightforward. Do the note cards well and you'll do fine on midterm and exam. If you participate in lecture and take initiative he will notice and grade you better. My tip for his research papers is to get straight to the point and write as if you're writing a history textbook.

He is a really good professor. He is a very tough grader and that's what discourages some people. He also makes you work for your grade which isn't something that a lot of students want to do.

I really enjoyed this course. The key to getting a good grade is talking with the professor. Get to know him and want to learn about what he is teaching. He gives you many opportunities to fix your work & you have to be willing to fix it. He is an extremely tough grader so don't feel bad when he marks up your paper.

Dr. Siroky is hands down the best teacher I have ever had. I am a straight A student and I got a C in his class. That's because I had so many things to learn about word choice and biases and deep thinking. He is not an easy teacher to get a good grade but he is an AMAZING teacher if you want to improve your writing and reading comprehension skills.

Dr. Siroky is a decent professor that knows what he is teaching and knows exactly what he wants from each student. He allows note cards for essay-based tests so its easier on the student. His essays are very cut and dry, and if you want an A on your essay GO TO HIS OFFICE HOURS AND TURN YOUR PAPER IN EARLY.

Idk why people say he's a bad professor. He's very fair. Every assignment can be revised until it's due date. He gives all the information you need in his modules and zoom lectures, which he records for ppl who can't attend live. A little rude and bit of a tough grader, but a nice and understanding guy who loves his subject. Wish more were like him

Listening to feedback is vital in getting a high grade. He gives a lot of time, so it's advisable to start early. Be aware of the outline and essay questions, and take notes accordingly. Filtering out unnecessary information is an important part of every class, but more so here, as the textbook is fairly lengthy. Don't be afraid to ask help.

I think he's retired now, but he is my all time favorite professor. He will absolutely tear apart any bad essay you submit. He is ruthless, brutal, and direct with his critiques. At the same time, you learn so much from that and he will let you resubmit with his advised changes for full credit. Think about how much time that takes for him to do.

Intense but rewarding class. Professor gives detailed feedback to improve essays. Textbook is essential, but unstuck AI and ChatGPT were helpful for study prep. Stay engaged and you'll learn a lot.
