She was very great and very beneficial. She made her lectures very interesting. She allows her students to understand how important good communication really is. She is one of the best professors I have ever had.
She is very nice but not at all helpful. I really don't think she is a people person.
i took her in maymester and it's impossible to fail! i don't know what these other kids are talking about, she is helpful as long as you ask questions. she isn't hard either as long as you do your work and read what she tells you to then you are ok.
VERY easy. just do the speeches and you will pass.

One of the easiest teachers to take. Doesnt grade hard at all and is very friendly to all of her students. It is obvious she is intelligent by the way she talks. Take this teacher for COMM

Super Teacher.. She needs to work on her fashion. I must say she is one of the best speech teachers around. I made an "A"
I hate speaking, but she gave me the confidence at the end to face the eyes that were staring at me. She is hard, and scared the hell out of me at first. As the semester goes by, she becomes softer and very funny. She's a cool teacher. just make sure you try.
I love her!! She is a great teacher!! She is nice and willing to help anyone that needs it!! I would try to get her because I hear that she is a lot better than the other comm teachers. She always has a smile on and knows how to put her students in a good mood too.
This teacher is one that I certainly would recommend. A couple of my friends have other communications profs and I hear horror stories. She is fair in her grading.

Grades speeches based on what she likes, not on a set grading system so if she doesn't like your style of speaking you are screwed. Still able to make a B in the class, just do well on the mid-term and the final.

I took her for Maymester and I thought I was going to DIE. OMG. But she's a great teacher. She makes you feel comfy and she's EASY on the midterm-final. Easy going teacher. If you go to class and put a lot of effort then you'll earn an A. Nice teacher too who will help you out w/outlines.
Very fair teacher, but this was the most difficult class I had this semester. If you are lazy and do not show up, you will not do well in her class. That being said, she will help you and give very clear advice about what she wants to see.
She is a excellent teacher and makes the material easy to understand. Make sure that you come to class and take notes because that is test material. She is so cool.

Good teacher, pretty funny as well! Keeps topics pretty interesting! Very critical while grading speeches(like most COMM professors). This class was intense, but helpful! I got an A, but not too easily! Overall good professor!

Only open to comments from certain people. If she does not agree with what you have to say she ignores you. Easy class, but dont take if you really want to learn and use the book that you pay a bundle for.
Easy tests, Harsh grades on presentations. Takes off more points on your speech if she doesn't agree with you

Grades super hard on the speeches. I don't know of a single person who passed one of our main speeches. The mini speeches were easy, but the main ones are harsh. I bought the wrong edition of the textbook, but it didn't matter only used it once, and I could have photocopied that info from a classmate. Is easy to talk to in office though.
She is so rude!! She def. has her favorites. She's a know it all. She has no sympathy for people because she thinks she's had it so much harder than everyone else. Obnoxiously loud!
At the beginning of the semester, she says she grades purely on your mannerisms and not on your opinion on the topic you chose (which she has to approve).. NOT true. No one in my class felt at ease around her; no one wanted to talk to her one-on-one. Very tough grader. Not recommended at all.
Very tough when it comes to the APA outline with the speeches... but if you have any questions try to ask other students in your class, if emailed, she will tell you to look in your book or sylabus.
Pretty easy professor. She doesn'y have an attendance policy, but the lectures are VERY useful when writing your speeches. Easy to listen to and get help from. Very knowledeable as well.
Didn't think she was very clear with instructions, after several times of asking for help I always ended up still doing something wrong that I wasn't aware was required in the first place. Tests & quizzes are very easy but you have to do a lot of BS group work that has little to do with the class. Don't bother buying a book, you won't use it.
She keeps your attn easily, this is the hardest class I have ever taken. Speeches are intense to prepare for, quiz answers are not on the test, don't break your neck writing down lecture notes-they are in elearning, just print them out. I didn't get a whole lot out of the group projects but really enjoyed the class and learned a whole lot.

She can be really rude and disrespectful - not approachable. She answers questions in a way that make the people who ask them feel like idiots. There wasn't an attendance policy, but she made it pretty clear that if you missed a class, not only would you fail but she'd hate you. Does not give examples of A+ work but EXPECTS A+ work.
Yes i agree she makes you feel stupid when you ask a question. She talks in this tone that make you feel inferior, like shes talking through her nose down at you. She expects A work but she doesnt teach you anything. In the Hybrid class she posts and posts lectures that she expects you to read She cant communicate and dont teach
Her Lectures are really boring and often off topic. Her Tests are easy. She does not prepare you to the level she expects for the speeches. Mrs. Ainsworth is hard to like and the class is boring but it's not really all that hard to get a decent grade.
well, she didn't make people feel like idiots in my class but wow, she really does grade speeches hard. final was the hardest thing about the class. don't bother buying book or iClicker, notes have everything you need on eLearning and you don't really use the iClicker.
Well, this teacher had a way of making everyone feel stupid. Her directions were never clean cut. If you asked for help, she would, but you would be treated like an idiot. I took the jybrid class, and I would not ever recommend taking it. She must have had a lot of failing grades in my class b/c we got to take the final twice online.
grades speeches crazy HARD!!! tests are really easy, all you really need is common sense! i agree with some of the others, she definitely has her way of making you feel stupid- and don't buy the iclicker or book. you don't need it- just use the powerpoints. i like her as a person outside of class, but not really as a teacher...
She is a HORRIBLE teacher! Probably one of the rudest teachers I have ever had. She has no compassion for her students. She grades really hard and doesn't explain how to do any of the work such as the outline's etc. She is a Communications teacher but I personally don't lie the way she talks. DO NOT TAKE HER EVER! SPARE YOURSELVES!
This teacher was easy if you consider yourself a good speaker before you take this class. Her instruction is a bit confusing. You don't need to but anything but the textbook if you are taking the hybrid class. Make sure you pay close attention to due dates!!
NO way. Tests are super easy, dont buy the stupid book. Speeches are a different story the only way to get a good grade is to bug her with every little detail because she will be looking for them.
This teacher is not effective at all. She insulted some of the students in the class when they answered her questions, then stood there giggling. Why would a trusted instructor do this? If you like being made to feel stupid and insulted, feel free to fail with her. She will be glad to oblige. Get a clue GSC fire this nut. She does not help us.
If at all possible, DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR. She grades speeches based on your progression from day one. If you did remotely well on your first speech and continued to do so on your subsequent speeches, you would be deducted points for not improving. She is VERY unclear about what she expects from you and is very biased in gradings.
DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS! She is very unclear about what she expects. Speech grading is very strict, she deducts serious points for the most minute mistakes. I can not stress enough, DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS, she will send you straight to the gallows.
This woman has got some kind of a problem. She is rude to some of the students and she thinks it is funny. She has no buisness in a classroom situation. Not a good teacher. Very good at making you feel like you are beneath her. She really needs to get over her self. If she decides she doesn't like the way you look you are done. Just ask around.

For a communications teacher she's not very good at communiacting. Grading is unfair. Assignments are not clear. Due dates are a mess. Emails are written poorly with bad grammer. She belittles your questions. Gets upset when people don't understand her "simple" instructions. She is the WORST teacher I have had at GSC do not take her class.
A REQUIRED BUT GOOD CLASS. PROF. AINSWORTH WAS ALWAYS WILLING TO ANSWER QUESTIONS. SHE IS HELPFUL, RESPONDS TO E-MAIL QUICKLY. INSTRUCTIONS ARE SOMETIMES A LITTLE CONFUSING. SHE IS A VERY CONFIDENT PERSON - I'D TAKE HER CLASS AGAIN.
I took her for online speech and class was mandatory and she would read the powerpoints word for word that were posted online. She was no help, She's rude if you ask her for help and gave everybody bad grades on their speeches. She always sends everybody emails like they're stupid with exclamations in them. I'm an adult student and I've never!
Do not take her, She is confusing, she does not clarify anything, If you ask her anything she makes it more confusing. She gives you a ton of outlines but doesn't teach you how to do them and gives you bad grades on them. She loves to degrade her students. The rudest professor I've ever met and I graduate soon!!!
She is very rude and does not clarify exactly what she expects in your speeches. She grades very harshly. Just don't take her... The tests are easy though, only because they are graded by Scantron.
DO NOT TAKE HER. She is unclear about the requirements for anything. its nearly impossible to make a decent grade on the speeches and outlines. if you want to devote your ENTIRE life to this class you MIGHT get an A but if you don't it's out of the question.
This teacher allows extra credit, and without it you might not do so well. Don't study her vocab from the Chapters, use her ppts to study.
What a b!7ch!!! You would think she would be clear since she is a communications teacher. Her grading is completely wach, unless you a "minority", then no matter how bad your speech is you will receive a good grade.

One of the most AMAZING teachers. Willing to work w/you outside of class & give HONEST feedback. If you want to be coddled, look elsewhere. Has high standers that will prepare you for the REAL world. There is a syllabus at the start of the semester w/clear expectations. Attendance isn?t mandatory, but helpful if you want a good grade. I got a "B".
She was by far the rudest teacher I have taken at GSC. Her e-mails are rude and makes you feel just plain stupid when you ask questions. Due dates are never sure. She grades VERY HARSH, and does not do well explaining why something is wrong. I would NOT take her class again and do not recommend anyone taking it who wants an A!
The class was horrible. Due dates were constant and never clear. She gets angry if you don't understand her instructions. Graded harshly on outlines and speeches. NOTHING seemed to be worth higher than a C. E-mails were unprofessional and rude. I wouldn't recommend anyone to take her class unless you devote the whole semester to it.
This is not a Comm class. It is a write you speech in an outline in APA format class. She did not spend more than 10 minutes covering something that counts for more than a quarter of your grade. She is condescending. Worst grade ever, and I really worked myself to death, at least 10 hours per week for this intro core class. Avoid!!!!!!!!!!!!
Horrible teacher. I took the class for a SPEECH class not a write an outline class. She was very unclear about requirements for assignments. DO NOT TAKE!!!
I decided to go ahead and take even after reading her reviews on here.BAD MISTAKE! DO NOT TAKER HER! She grades very harshly, treats you like you are stupid when you ask her a question and even takes off points during speeches for adjusting your shirt! I gave her a chance despite her reviews on here and it backfired.
Do not take this woman. She expects you to write 2 outlines in her class, yet fails to teach how to write one according to HER STANDARDS. Then, she grades the outlines and gives you a C. Ridiculous. I thought this was a speech class, not "write an outline" class. Sorry excuse for a college professor.
Anyone who says Professor Ainsworth is horrible is STUPID! im currently taking her Maymester Comm class and she is an AWESOME teacher. its a very fun class and she makes this corse very simple and understandable! She's very helpful and dedicated to her job. she has been one of my favorite professors in two years of college. TAKE HER CLASS!
Prof. Ainsworth is a great Comm teacher. The one thing I would advise students before taking this class is that she is a little tough on her grading standards of the outlines. She does not want her outlines to be essays. Other than that she is very knowledgeable and keeps the class fun and easygoing. One more thing PRACTICE PRACTICE your speeches
Good Teacher.She taught off powerpoints and it wasnt really to boring.I took her during Maymester so it was kinda intense but I do recommend that bc there are less speeches required! It was very difficult to do the speeches she asked for bc they had to be about helping the enviroment. hard subject to talk about when you dont know anything about it.
DON'T TAKE HER CLASS! She does not grade papers fairly. She expects you to cite all your power point pictures and yet on her own power point, she didn't even cite it! She's ridiculous when it comes to grading your paper and your speech presentation! She's not helpful at all. I wish I did not take her class!
Very aggressive in a negative way, somewhat haughty. The class is pretty much a hybrid course, EVERYTHING is on eLearning and it's all group work outside if class.
This class was not about learning to communicate better. This class was about if your outlines were perfect or not. Unless you are planning a career where you communicate by outlines, this class is totally useless.
If you're easily offened, don't take this course with her. She is very matter of fact and doesn't have much tact. It's actually an easy A if you can figure things out own your own and put forth the effort. You just have to look past her rudeness at times. Just make sure you do well on the tests and follow examples found online.

THIS PROFESSOR IS GOD AWFUL. I have never experienced such a rude teacher. If she does not like you for whatever reason, you will know. She is not good at communicating (which she's suppose to be a "professional" at). Also, she takes this class WAY too seriously... It's a speech class at gsc... not law school.

She takes this class WAY too serious and expects you too as well. DONT TAKE HER unless your ready to work your butt off for NOTHING!!!
Although she is very helpful in asking questions she is VERY picky when grading.I tried so hard in tha class.Seriously.She was very confusing at the beginning of the semester and even though she critisizes us on saying "um" in our speeches she uses "like" in her lecture "like" a lot.I did learn;dont take her as a hybrid!COMM was suppose 2 b easy.ha
Her hybrid class is hard what we went over in class had nothing to do with her test. be prpared to teach your self, not helpful out side of class.
I am so confused as to why there are so many negative comments about her. I have taken two of her courses, both of which I recieved an A, with little effort. Never went to class or spent much time doing the outlines or papers. She is an easy grader, like seriously, it's a joke. Posting negative comments about her probably means you failed.
I liked the class however she was a hard professor and didn't offer help. I struggled all sems in this class.
She grades her speeches very fairly. Her test are online but super hard. They are 100 questions in 60 min! If you take her I would recommend taking her class with a friend so that y'all can get together and do the test together. She is very helpful when you are writing your speeches.
Doctor Ainsworth's lectures are very good and she is very understanding if you don't understand something or if you need more time to finish an assignment. Her tests are difficult but she is an easy grader with papers and other assignments, it would be hard to fail her class.
Very nice, easy-going professor. Her lectures are entertaining and she puts the PowerPoints online. The midterm and final were both online and curved. She will occasionally push back assignment deadlines when necessary and wants to help everyone succeed.
Dr. Bailey is an amazing COMM 1110 professor! Her lectures are always extremely helpful in writing the speeches. Extra credit is offered on almost all of the assignments. You don't have to memorize speeches, nice!! Dr. Bailey is very helpful and gives very good feedback on your speeches. She is always ready to help you when you have questions.
