Very spastic and hard to follow. Gives us 4 assignments a year, each one being worth 25% of our grade. A little rediculous if you ask me!
Horrible teacher didn't grade fairly, very hard to follow. My advice to you is if you in her class get out!!!
I never rate professors. But my buddy and I were in her class and would always wonder what her degree was in because there was no way in HELL it could be history... it was, don't ask me how. She is clueless in the subject. Kindof a nice body though???
she was an awful teacher, if you have her DROP. she was only my teacher for half a semester, but it was almost unbearable (and i've had some pretty boring classes). her "outlines" were ridiculous. she was spastic and hard to follow. she'd foreshadow a topic and then say she was going to come back to it.. she never really got to an point.
Horrible Teacher. Crazy and useless outlines. But kind of an easy grader.
Don't take this class. Teacher is nice but doesn't seem to know what she's doing. I can't say I learned a whole lot. Waste of time if you're going to take a class...and told me that she doesn't give A's very often. Class was boaring too...lectured the whole semester except for a few short movies to supplement lecture.
Lost my work and never returned some papers
Pretty boring i'd have to say, she's really random and doesn't leave you with a whole lot of knowlege of the subject when your done. Pretty easy tho
I don't know what she was like when other had her but I found her to be super-knowledgable, enthusiastic and accomodating. Although perhaps a little all over the place but so was our text. I learned a lot!
A very knowledgable teachers who knows her stuff. Teaches in a good pace, and seems like she has a passion for history. She gives good outlines so that you can keep track of her skipping around. Great professor.
SUCH a instructor who have taught history about discrimination n she got into it. she is hard especially in grading.men, b caution wen registering her class.bad n full of....
3 EXAMS (essay/multiple choice) Gives complete outlines, but skips around a lot. Outlines are not in sync with tests. Hard grader. On 1st test, 19 students failed. You have to read the books to understand what she's talking about in class. Sometimes people would ask questions and she would almost guess at an answer or say "I'll get back to you"
She is a little weird but really sweet. Her class is easy. Alot of note taking, all her tests are from notes. She makes you do 5 response papers but fair grader.
This is a really good teacher, she is very helpful, and you only write a tiny amount each week on what you read, big deal. And she is very calm and informative. She is not annoyed when students are rude, she expects you to act like an adult, so if you can't do that, stay at home.
Wow, what lectures, drink coffee ahead of time. But, not much homework, a breeze class. Take notes if you are awake and read a tiny bit, do a paragraph on what you read each week.
I think she is a good teacher. Yes, she is a bit unorganized, but she is fair when it comes to testing. Her class is really laid-back. Not much reading and lots of extra credit. I don't know why people are complaining.
So nice and helpful. The class is super easy, and interesting.
She nt weird don't listen to that **. Hey, this is supr ezy omg. Chill sleep EZ A!
So fun! Loved the class, little reading assigments with tiny answers and tests, nothing else!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Culture interesting!!!!!!!!!!
Was really easy but she talks in a monotone and even with coffee you will be nodding off. She is hard to understand, like she gives a strange group project and then runs out of the room babbeling about other classes and what they did. Really weird, but easy, bring pillow or drool catcher.
hated this class. so many things irritated me about her. she's very unorganized and really annoying. easy class tho. take any roberti class over baker! roberti rocks, baker blows.
she is very good at lecturing, when looking at her notes. It seems as though a lot of the time she cannot answer a question when someone asks it but hey, at least she admits it. Baker is adorable and her class is very easy although it can get pretty boring, it is interesing if you make it interesting
Boring
This class was an easy class to just get a passing grade and move on. Even though the subject can be interesting I feel that the Teacher made it the exact opposite, typical boring lecture class. Tests are fairly easy and work load not too bad. Passed with a B, but was very boring class and teacher was very monotone.
Dr. Baker is really a sweet & caring teacher. I would say that she covers quite a lengthy time frame in our cultural history of America, & it is quite interesting. I feel that she loves what she does and she made it a great experience. She is a great person and great teacher. I like that she found some great & inexpensive texts for the course.
She by far is one of the worst teacher I have ever had. She gave half of her class the wrong final and did not figure it out untill more than half the class was gone and done with the final. WOW!!! She is useless and a waste of time to ever think of taking her class.
I can somewhat understand why some people think Allison is boring but this class was very interesting. Some lectures were boring but she is very clear and thorough on all the topics. Tests are multiple choice with an essay and are easy if you go to class and/or read the chapters. I would take a class from her again in a heart beat!
I could not stomach this teacher for more than 2 classes. She seemed nice enough, and the ratings said she was easy, but she does not have a thorough grasp of the subject needs to research more before starting a lecture. What a waste of time. If you have an inkling of interest in the subject, take it from someone else.
Horrible exeriance! She is very uncertain of her self when lecturing and very borring. The work load is not bad and the tests are alright. I never took notes in class reviewing the chapters is good enough for the tests. I would never take her again and I don't recommend her unless you can put up with being board out of your mind for an easy grade.
This teacher is the WORST, stay away. She is completely unorganized, lectures the whole class period and dosen't make any sence. Toward the end of the semester if you ask to see her during her office hours she wont make any time. She says she will give extra credit, but dosent. Says my papers were no good but meanwhile i had an A in english.
Professor Baker makes history interesting! During lectures she lets students comment or ask questions. Through out the semester you turn in 5 short papers. Make sure to turn all of them in on time. If you do not you will not qualify for extra credit later.
I liked her. She was a bit boring.. BUT she showed us videos and made the subject more interesting and it made sense. I rarely read the books and got a B. Anyone can pass this class. The tests were mult. choice and kinda easy
I read half the reading assignments and got an A. She makes you write 5 essays in response to the readings but they are extremely easy. She let's you make them up if you fail them. She accepts no late papers. Lectures were alright. I liked the videos. Lets you use a 1 pg outline for the exams.
She's good if you want an easy class and need history. But the class is not a good time. She always seems unprepared and is hard to follow. But she does make th tests easy because you can write your essays ahead of time. However, if you are interested in history and wantto learn alot, don't take her
Allison is a really sweet lady. I think she tries to keep the class interested in a really boring topic. As long as you actually show up to class and do the work, you'll get an A.
She is pretty boring and will seemingly improvise a lecture five minutes before class. Pretty easy class just read the assigned text and you'll get an A-B. The tests are easy. Extra credit opps!
Incredibly kind person and fair; however, it is difficult to determine what she expects you to know on tests -- and final grade is determined almost entirely by your grade on exams. On the 1st semester exam so many students failed that she had to offer an extra credit project.
The class itself is very boring. It's mostly a lot of lecture and some boring history movies. I would actually read the history book during class to prep for the tests. Allison is really nice and tries very hard to keep the class interested. Just do the homework and you won't get worse than a B.
She is extremely sweet, but disorganized. Class is pretty easy. Exams are all multiple choice and easy as long as you really study.
Horrible teacher. It was painful to attend the class and got absolutely nothing out of it. Waste of hour and half..save you time and find another teacher! Trust me you'll thank me later! She is TERRIBLE!
I've never taken the time to fill one of these out-she prompted me to warn others. If you have ANY interest in actual history read the book: A Different Mirror-Takaki. It was VERY interesting and helpful-Baker: not so much! Texting, phones ringing, internet use, chatting-she's OBLIVIOUS! No need to go to class-she won't know who you are. Confu
Alison is very nice. I liked talking to her, she is obviously passionate about the subject. But she rambles and doesn't explain things well. The class was disorganized and confusing. I constantly had to ask for her to link information together because she was all over the place.
Not very knowledgeable on topics. For someone how is a history professor she really didn?t know much about history. There was a lot more focus and grammar in weekly journal entries than on the actual material. If you are interested in Multicultural History look elsewhere!
Motivated and helpful with easy coursework. Was able to extract a good amount from lecture, but in particular doesn't give an overly interesting lecture.
she was a useless teacher. she graded papers on grammar and often got that wrong. class was all lecture, but she would get every distracted and talk about useless things. never knew answer to questions asked. tests were very confusing. she was lazy and admitted it. messed up my grade twice. do NOT take this teacher!!!
I'm a HISTORY MAJOR, and I found this class to be INCREDIBLY boring. It's so hard to stay focused in class. Easy work (10 journals, one a week, plus three tests) but the class was so dull that I still managed to not do as well as I could with a different teacher.
Yes, it can be super boring at times, and she can be disorganized and doesn't always know how to answer a question; however, the class is extremely easy. you get full credit on the hw just for doing it, and if you read the chapters and study the outlines you should definitely get A's or B's on all the tests. If you don't aren't good with history, this is the class to take. Baker won't make you fall in love with the subject, but you can help your GPA out.
not very good. Jokes not funny at all, often late.
Easy class, if you can actually drag yourself to class. it can be very painful. she is very dull. i feel bad cuz she is a nice lady, but she is NOT a good teacher. worst class yet. dull, dull, dull. it was super hard to stay focused cuz the lectures (which are constant) are sooo horrifically boring. if you need an easy good grade here u go.
Gives an outline for you to download and take notes on. Only 500 points possible. Read the texts, and/or pay attention to her lectures you should be able to get decent grades on the 3 exams=300 points. Journals =100 points, make sure you do them all or you won?t qualify for extra credit later if you need it, class participation=100 points. Nice!
Probably the most boring teacher ever but really easy...if you want an A take her...if you want a nap take her...if you want answers to questions, or anything like that dont
Love Ms. Baker! A little weird at times but always willing to help. Do all the journals and take notes.
Love Ms. Baker! A little weird at times but always willing to help. Do all the journals and take notes.
Not a very good teacher. She not only screwed up a lot of people's grades, but then emailed everyone telling them that they were failing with no chance of passing (before the final) and not to bother coming to class anymore. No clue what she is talking about when teaching. Skipped important events, don't bother taking her. waste of time.
A kind but dull instructor that was not helpful and was the most unorganized teacher I have ever had. She screwed up my grades because she was so unorganized with paper work."emailed everyone telling them that they were failing with no chance of passing (before the final) and not to bother coming to class anymore."-I can confirm this comment
I think Baker was a really good teacher, not sure what all the negative comments are for. She was really nice and I think some students thought they could take advantage of her. Baker tries to make the class as interesting as possible by using slides and showing movies, I think it would of been a lot more boring if she just lectured the whole time.
I took this class becuase the ratings on here said its really boring but easy A.. WORST MISTAKE OF MY LIFE. This class is SO dry and boring I could barley force myself to show up. She lectures the whole class, and the tests are pretty hard. I DO NOT RECCOMEND THIS TEACHER AT ALL. I'm sure any other teacher would be better than her =T
Allison is not a bad teacher. She tries hard to make the class interesting. I hate history and her class was ok. If you attempt the journals you get full credit. I recommend her for GE.. Also very willing to help if you just ask for it she does all she can
Great teacher: Very friendly, makes what could be boring somewhat interesting. Don't buy the book. All info needed is in the lecture. 3 tests (2 with essays), 5 essays (2page).
Nice teacher, easy class. But, if you are into history, or aren't a liberal, you will probably find her class gets on your nerves. All she knows its whats on her powerpoints. If you ask her a question, she wont know the answer. She had to ask students questions a few times. I thought I was bad at history until I met her. I wish I were exaggerating!
I enjoy the subject matter very much I have taken classes from her before. This semester she has fallen below standards. She is a very excitable and happy professor she knows the subject matter well BUT she lacks clarity, doesnot fallow threw and does not give everbody a fair chance. Her garding system is rediculous!
She is not a bad teacher she just lacks clarity her metholds of teaching are not the best she is very scatter brained
This is a warning! This semester over 75% of her students are failing because of her grading system. She's had an auditor come to class and she started yelling at her because she was so unclear, she did this in the middle of Bakers lecture... Her lecture is only slides, she doesn't know anything but her slides.
If you are a history major, do not take her! She doesnt know anything besides her slides. Other than that the class is easy with only 4 assignements that are each doable in an hour or 2. Dont bother buying the book. She's mostly boring if anything, and its honestly hard to bore me but she definetley broke the mold. Her tests are mult. choice.
Her grading system is TERRIBLE. She's scatterbrained. Not many assignments and the assignments given are pretty easy. But she is dumb as a doorknob. I wouldnt recommend taking her unless u are good at teaching yourself. Tests are somewhat difficult if you dont pay attention but seem pretty easy if you pay attention. Boring!
If you like history, don't take her. She will turn you off to the subject and that's what she did to me. I learned more with reading a paragraph in the book then listening to a whole semester of her lecture(which is all slides.) Please take anyone but her.
She is a terrible professor. I took a Cultural history class - all we learned about was women's history and she still tested as if she taught cultural history. I really enjoy all types of history and I learned a few things, but nothing related to the class. She's ditzy and scatterbrained. Didn't use a textbook, just a novel. *sigh*
Easy class I dont know what all these people are complaining about Allison is a great teacher I learned a lot from her, her tests are difficult (only 2 per semester) and cover lots of material. Her slides are very well written and as long as you show up and do the journal assignments you will do fine. Shes very clear I recommended her. dontgetbook
She's the worst teacher I've ever had. Her class is extremely boring. When people ask her questions, she never knows an answer to them. We never used the textbook. She is really picky about the essays that are assigned, most of the people in my class received no credit for a lot of the essays. I do not recommend her. Find a different teacher
This class can be a little boring, and it's basically US history, but you do learn some new facts. As long as you pay attention and take notes, and don't try to cheat on the journal assignments, it's pretty easy. Allison is very sweet and tries to answer questions, but many people don't ask very clearly, or they don't do the very easy assignments.
She is daily condescending, rude, and unpredictable in class. Journal assignments are not judge on content, but ONLY grammar-3 or more grammar errors = NO CREDIT Happened to everyone. Loved material HATED CLASS. On final we were freaked oCreditut that we would get No on the final. Don’t take her, save yourself from the stress.
i liked her a lot. if you show up, take notes and study hard for the two tests, you will pass this class with flying colors. the material is very interesting, it's just a more accurate telling of US hist, and a little on womens' too. highly recommend. book helpful but not mandatory. save the cash
I swear she scans the room side to side every second when she talks
Not sure what all these people are complaining about. She's a super nice teacher and the material is pretty interesting. Too busy taking notes all class to get bored. I would recommend her, just wish there were more assignments throughout the semester to balance out the weight of the exams.
She was completely unprepared when it came to the midterm and final. She didn't give us a study guide for the midterm because she didn't have time to prepare it and just told us what chapters. Even without missing classes, did all the in class work and received full credit on journal entries, I still failed because of the bad grade on the midterm.
WHATEVER YOU DO.. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS!!!! EXTREMELY UNCLEAR ABOUT ASSIGNMENTS. HORRIBLE TEACHING STYLE. MAKES THE CLASS EXTREMELY UNINTERESTING. DOESN'T SEEM CONFIDENT ABOUT WHAT SHE'S TEACHING. DON'T TAKE THIS CLASS.
She is really nice, but she has a slightly jumbled teaching style. I understand why people don't like her. She can sometimes be unclear on assignments. If you take her class, be prepared to take REALLY good notes on HW
She's very strange. If you' don't attend class do the assignments and workshops u will fail. Missing one or 2 of the assignments will affect your grade badly. Her notes are clear but does not give a study guide for the midterm or final. The tests are based on your notes and the books she assigns. No textbook is used. Take her at your own risk.
worst teacher ever. she never knows the answer to any questions. her essays are hard and she grades on grammar rather then how much you understand. no study guide for test, nothing she taught was on any of the finals. i would never take her again.
HORRIBLE. Forgetful, changes her mind, and is unclear and grades poorly. Does not stick to her word at all. DO NOT take her class.
She is AWFUL. Totally confused and extremely boring. Covered more about fashion of the time than WWII. We didn't even make it through all the material, and when we brought it up she said that we could've if we had asked. We shouldn't have to specifically request that she teach part of the class. Hated her 'teaching' style.
Easy class. However - it is mind numbing. She rambles on with poorly constructed power point slides. I took the class to meet a requirement, but she's a terrible educator. In Short- Easy Class, waste of time.
If you are interested in a class where you watch youtube videos (then she leaves the room during the clips), never talk about the readings, never quite sure what's going to be on the test this is your class! She doesnt have control over students talking during class, "workshops" are pointless group work on pictures. I would recommend something else
Between her "workshops", videos, and leaving class, she doesn't do much instructing. Her class is very VIDEO dominated, doesn't take her time with powerpoints (sprints through them) and is all over the place information wise. Never talks about reading, yet tests on it. I wouldn't recommend this class at all.
She is scattered. This is the type of class you don't have to attend much. As long as you can keep up with the bimonthly essay writings, you'll be fine. If you can avoid, you probably should. But she is really nice, and fairly easy.
bakers pretty easy except for the fact that she didn't give an actual grade I didn't know where i stood in her class i must have asked 4 different times what my grade was and her response was "you're fine" "you should be good" I wanted an A and had i known i had a B i would have kicked it into high gear. never gave back anything graded onl midterm
Tests count for most of the grade, but the class is enjoyable. Just read the chapter she assigns, study for the tests and you'll get at least an easy B-.
She can be rude. She talks way too much and too quickly when lecturing. She is too picky on assignments. 1625
Easy and clear class as long as you pay attention. Reading helpful but not mandatory. Enjoyed perspective of class -- as long as you give a well thought out opinion you can do no wrong. (Ethics of Race and Gender)
Awful. Never had a professor so clueless and unprepared.
She's a really nice teacher but she' really scattered and all over the place. She gives out weekly essay homework assignments that are all or no credit so either you get a 10 or a 0. I got a 10 on everyone just make sure you read the directions carefully and you MUST do the reading and compare it to the assignment or you'll get a 0.
Horrible teacher .
Extremely dry lectures, I never went and still pulled a B. If you want an A do the extra credit. She expects you to do 5+ hours of hw a week. I still had to do all assignments which took me an average of 2.5 hours a week. I would highly suggest taking another history class
Horrible. Expects you to read too much. Look for specific criteria in weekly papers and gives only a all or nothing grade & puts so much emphasis on not a lot of effort needed for paper. Horrible lectures, she is all over the place with videos and powerpoint. Spends too much time talking on now tested criteria. Test are specific. CHANGE CLASS!!
She is a nice woman, but is extremely disorganized and dry and seems oblivious to that fact. You could only show up a third of the time and you could still pass this class pretty easy. She just seems like she's really close to retiring and therefore barely putting any effort into her teaching.
Good teacher, really nice, just a bit disorganized. If you follow the criteria and do the readings you'll do just fine.
Not organized AT ALL. You spend a lot of time trying to figure out what is going on in the class. She goes over notes so fast that you dont have the opportunity to write them down. Gives essay about topics you havent even learned. She has rules that apply to high schoolers. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS!!!!
Professor Baker deserves more credit than she gets! I've taken two of her classes at the SRJC (History 21, History 17.2), and her classes are very easy and informative. She allows late work, doesn't require a textbook, and is an EASY grader. She cares about her students and I believe you won't regret her class!
Professor Baker creates a very uninteresting class for an interesting subject. It's unfortunate. We had very few opportunities and assignments to raise our grades, and she's a difficult grader. It's hard to stay motivated to go to class. I would not recommend her class to anyone. Not good at communicating, and a slow grader.
Professor Baker was really kind and an easy teacher. Weekly discussions, 20 point tests every few weeks, and a pretty simple final. She gives 20 extra credit points at the end of every semester.
She is a nice person but I don't think she should be a teacher anymore, she was always unprepared and didn't even put in any grades until the end of the semester. Only had 3 essays and 2 midterms. She grades easy on essays but the essay on the midterm she decided to grade them tough for the same work put in.
Professor Baker is great! This professor is very caring and makes the material interesting. I do not consider myself a "history" person, but I actually enjoy this class. Expectations for the class are clear, and very manageable. One thing I also love is that all of the materials are completely online & FREE. Definitely would recommend this prof!
I tried my best in this class, only to be severely disappointed. I almost got a perfect score on every exam and quiz, but she was extremely nitpicky about discussion post answers. She does give partial credit- but when you get 5/20 points for even one discussion, it brings down your average to one extremely low despite everything else being good.
Extremely nit picky about the discussion posts & if even one of your sentences of 300+ words doesn't sit right w/ her or you had a misunderstanding, expect to lose lots of points. Not understanding considering the tough times we are all experiencing right now. If you dont want to be extremely stressed dont take her
Pros: Free online book, interesting class notes, and book. Lots of Critical thinking and analysis. Cons: She will grade a zero even if you do 95% of the work correctly. Doesn't seem to care about her students. Long response time when inquiring about homework or grading criteria. Prepare to fail, even with a 3.5 gpa
This teacher is by far the worse teacher at the Santa Rosa college , she will depict your papers to the bone then accuse you of plagiarism when you have your own interpretation.
Baker is one of those people that enjoys making others suffer. She will give you a low score for no reason . Does not take into consideration all the hard work students put in to get an A.
Terrible class. Grades unfairly and if you do partial work, she will still give you a zero. The material is interesting but SO MUCH READING. Quizzes every module. No extra credit. No lectures. Just reading, videos, weekly discussions+responses, and a paper at the end. This should have been an easy class but she doesnt seem to want to help you pass
I will agree with the other students on here that yes, she is an extremely tough grader and her lectures/ homework load is quite heavy, but I have NEVER been interested and fascinated by history in my entire life. Her lectures are set up in a brief way that's easily understandable and engaged my attention in a way I haven't been before.
I liked this class, learned a lot, interesting. She gives good feedback and assignments are very straightforward, discussion/ quizzes and paper writing. Follow directions, read all required material, do the work and you will pass. The books used in this class were cheap to rent, which is why I chose her class, HUGE PLUS! Thank you professor Baker!
She's not helpful at all. In this pandemic many people are facing lot of difficulties and she doesn't give a damn about it. She is very cocky about what she wants.
She grades differently towards the end of the semester.
I highly recommend professor Baker for your next history class she is very clear in the subject and material. You will have no trouble whatsoever to follow along and get a good grade in her class.
Very organized teacher with clear expectations & grading criteria. Most modules are two weeks long, with reading, a short quiz, and a discussion. Treat each discussion post as if it is a paper you are tuning in rather than a casual conversation and you will do fine! She gave extra credit, let people resubmit work & drops your lowest quiz score.
Not a great online class.
I took this class online and I highly recommend. She only assigned one assignment every two weeks, followed by a 20 point quiz. This class was a walk in the park. I put no effort in and I gotta B. The final was super easy just to write a short essay. She gives lots of extra credit highly recommend this teacher.
You have to actively try to not do well in her class. Her deadlines are incredibly reasonable and she gives helpful feedback. The class format is clear and easy to go through. This is not a challenging online class.
She is a great teacher. Do you work and you will get an A.
If you want a easy humanities class, Baker is the one for you. You basically only have 1 discussion a week and its just watching a few videos or reading a little and answering some questions. I highly recommend to fill your GE slot.
As long as you do the work you will pass. Decent amount of reading, but a reasonable amount of time it given to complete it. Discussion and quizzes are graded fairly and are easily completed as long as you read the material (which is actually interesting). Overall I reccomend Dr. Allison Baker!
Modules and tests were very straight forward and easy to understand. As long as you put in effort into your discussions and responses, you will receive full credit. She also offers many extra credit assignments that are similar to the modules. Overall a very interesting and straight forward class that I would take again.
For an online class, this was perfect. The work was broken up into three week units, and while everything felt daunting to look at, each unit took four hours to do if you understand how to work asynchronously. All tests/quizzes/discussions were untimed and open note. There is extra credit available and the class was well organized, take her class!
Please avoid this teacher if you want to succeed :). She takes forever to grade and she doesn't seem to care about the class. Easy class though if you guys want to sign up. But she might lack on the teaching and grading though. Goodluck. Never again.
Allison is a good professor. There is a lot of information in each module, but she gives you plenty of time to read and complete it (3 weeks per module). It is a pretty straight forward easy class.
She is very passionate about her work and education. I learned a lot in this class. It was required for my GE but Im very happy I took it. Extremely easy class you just need to do the work which in my opinion was not that much or too difficult. She was great about responding to my questions.
She is not a very great teacher and she don't really try to understand some student at all. which is very sad.
I need a real professor who want to teach.
As checked out as they come. Avoid her if at all possible.
Took Hist 17.1 online. I had a heavy workload and Baker's class was one of the least stressful. She tells you what will be on the quiz, so all you have to do is watch the lectures she provides (a few hours a week) and all the answers are there. Also, you get 2 weeks to complete one module that on average took me 1 full evening to complete.
A horrible teacher. I would not take any of her classes. She is inflexible and does not care about her students or class. She takes forever to respond to emails and grade assignments!!!
I read the review but I still want to try it out and yup! AWFUL. She teach old stuff and she expect you to wait for days to respond to your email. Thank god class almost over.
I signed up for an online class and she had assignments at specific times, either Thursdays 9-10:30 or 6:30-8. I couldn't make these times work with my schedule, so I emailed her asking what we could do about it since it is an ASYNCHRONOUS online class. She said no so I dropped the class. She didn't seem mean but ridiculous for an online class.
Very bad teacher, things can only be done and answered her way or it's wrong. cannot reason with her either. online dates for assignments can range from weeks, days to even a month apart. failed because of her.
Professor Baker's HIST21 class is a great option for an easy humanities credit. Manageable workload, clear expectations, and helpful feedback. unstuck study was a game-changer for study prep too.
I would not recommend to take HIST21 with her, there was too much work. Each lesson plan had 5-8 modules of reading which was a lot of reading you had to do to prepare for each less quiz. It was a lot of work but if you have other hard classes don't take it this one, it will be too much
Worst history teacher at the school, think I actually ended up with less knowledge after taking the class.
How is she still employed
The simplest way I can describe her class is "very easy, but you will learn very little." All of the assignments are pretty straightforward and are not at all difficult. The tests are equally easy. She gives a large amount of notes, but the low difficulty of the assignments kind of balances it out. Final is also pretty easy.
Do not take in person, class was terrible and hard to stay engaged, points dropped for personal opinions that were requested, dropped in person. Take online in summer! No extra credit, but easy A, 3 discussions due, 4 to pick from, quiz every week 8-10 questions, took during summer so no midterm. Put in extra work and you will pass with an A.
I do not like her. I had to take her class just to finish up some requirements. Overal -1/10
