She's young and her lectures are interesting and personal. You can get an A as long as you do all the assignments cuz she doens't offer that many points. Which is the only bad thing, her grading scale is kind of strict.
Awsome teacher! very helpfull and funny too. You can learn alot about life in her class, everyone should take her.
one of the most fun classes you will ever take! she is a great teacher and she has funny personal stories for every topic. take sociology w/ this professor!
Yes, she certainly doesn't offer many points, and she is pretty damn strict; but I have to admit that she's a really good teacher that provides a fun environment.
She is funny and most professional. Wants everyone to get an A even though, she lets you know you earn it. I highly recommend her to everyone! Extremely knowledgable gives clear instructions of what she requires.
she is a really fun teacher and very interesting, but is stingy with points. And she takes off points for missing class.
Her tests are hard..3 multiple choice tests, 1 essay..the M/C are so confusing. She is very nice, just not to easy. She does have mini paper assignments. If you don't mind reading the book, then take her, because her lectures don't help all that much.
She has an interesting style. She's very funny w/ tons of personal stories and at the same time very to the point and percise. I liked her alot for Sociology 1. And for some reason, she is one of the first teachers i've ever payed attention to!
allison is an excellent teacher if you are willing to come to class and do the work, she is very funny and interesting. You can tell she loves what she does.
awesome teacher! very fun and enjoyable to listen to. she's really clear and understandable and her tests are exactly what she says they'll be. highly recommend her!
Camelot is an excellent teacher. I highly recommend her as will anyone who takes her. You have to work in her class, but class is a point system, which is a good thing. Lectures are clear, interesting and she is easy to listen to. A great teacher
Favorite professor @ saddleback. great class. funny lady. take your notes and do homework youll get a c or a b. study and youll get an a, guranteed.
Not a terrible teacher, but totally biased towards women. If you're a guy you'll have a tough time listening to her constant opinions about men and women's oppresion. And the talk about her family get boring too.

Excellent teacher! Very clear about her expectations. She provides all of the information to pass her tests! She tells some pretty funny stories during her lectures. Highly Recommend.
camelot is the best! caring teacher, helpful, fair. you have to work, but youll be rewarded. class is a point system, defintley works to the students advantage
she was so great. her stories are funny, and she likes to talk about her cats. she is highly recommended, just make sure you go to class, and that you are not late, that is her pet peeve
i loved this class.i'm actually considering double majoring in it all thanks to her making it so interesting.her stories are funny & really helpful. be on time & be a good student & u will get along fine, if not she can be sorta mean-but 99% she is cool
Very girly girl, grading on papers is very wishy washy. impossible to make up points.
i loved this teacher, before going into the class i was completly disinterested. she made it fun, but was informative. i learned a lot and really enjoyed the class
Awesome teacher, explains everything to your interest. Not a lot of work, but you do need to go to class.
Likes to talk a lot about people and stories she encounters. Tests are easy, based of the review sheet. Grades pretty hard on the essays. Interesting class though.
if you study for the tests its easy, very clear about information. nice lady. class is interesting!!
She is helpful if you take the time to ask questions. No homework only tests and papers. Overall not a hard class if you attend and keep up with it.
she was horrible! She spent more time talking about her damn kids than actually teaching the class.
This class is so hard to pay attention to. She doesnt have review sheets and doesnt review AT ALL for tests. She talks too fast that you dont have enough time to write that fast.
It could be the hardest Introduction to Sociology class you could take. I do not recommend her.
she is a very hard grader on essays. Class has a inclass vignette exam worth 1/3 of your grade. She is a good teacher she is just a little self indulged but if you really like sociology take the class. Not an easy A or even B
Interesting class, and fun to learn about. Camelot keeps you informed and up to date. She likes participation. You watch a few movies and then write essays on them. Not the easiest grader, make sure you do your best work. Overall, Id recommend
she grades way too hard on essays and doesnt offer help with anything.
As long as you go to class you'll do fine in her class. She is really funny and a very interesting speaker. I definitely recommend her over any other soc teacher.
I think that this teacher is a hard grader especially on the essays. Its verrry hard to get an A in the class. The extra credit barely even helps.Try to take someone else..i dont recomend her
She was horrible. I definitly do not recommend her. She has her favorites and makes it very well known. She also spends more time talkiing about herself and her husband and baby than she does the class. Also she is not very clear on her expectations through the semester.
You'll never get an A- Don't even try- The material is confusing and you have to guess what she is trying to say-Taking her is a great way to damage your GPA
She was a good teacher, though some of her lessons were kind of unclear, and she tends to base a lot on bias opinions which doesn't really help for a sociology class.
She is an unreasonable teacher- No one gets an A- If you take her, it will hurt your GPA
Unless she knows you right when you walk in the door kiss your grades goodbye. She plays favorites and it's not hard to miss. Does not explain anything, very hard grader, and strict on attendance. Doesn't seem to have any time to help you and has no office hours.
Camelot is a nice teacher who makes sociology very interesting. However she wasn't very clear on how to do papers, and they are based on videos and you have to remember everything from the videos. The tests are pretty easy though.
this class is pretty easy if you are willing to put a little effort in. if you study for the tests you will get an A. there are 3 papers and she grades them fairly hard, but the tests are worth more points so you can still get an A. i would recommend her.

I thought she was an excellent teacher. She is very funny and is very clear about what she wants in the papers. It is a lot of work though. You should make sure you study hard for the first test.
Amazing teacher! If you want a class that is a little tough, but will push you to learn more than you ever thought you could, this is the teacher for you! Camelot is very intelligent and makes the subject matter very interesting! She tells hysterical stories and offers LOTS of easy extra credit! I loved this class and Mrs. Camelot!
All the comments with smile faces where probably made by femals. WARNING..Don't take class if you're a male. She is biased towards men and she always thinks she's right.
This professor has poor teaching skills...she talks about her family most of the class and grades as if she were teaching a Phd class.
Poor teaching skills, great social skills. Your grade is effected by your repour with her. Not a nice lady. I got an A, but would not reccomend her. Previous rating was correct in his gender biased accusation...Although I would recommend this class to a woman. C-/D+ class and teacher.

she is awsome! just do all your work! easy A or B

Shes the worse teache ever all she talks about is her kids and when it comes time to for the test everyone is completly clules on what shes gonna have on the test DONT TAKE HER she grades really hard
she does not know how to teach
Strict on attendance, ANNOYING ..she's even rude when you ask question! DON'T TAKE THIS CLASS THERE IS BETTER SOC TEACHERS =)
This class had the most work i've ever done in an intro. class but it's college so can't complain too much. Mrs.Camelot does give a lot of work and expect a lot but she is very helpful and will set aside more than enough time to help anyone who is serious. I have an A but ive worked for it more than any other class. Tests are tricky.
worse teacher ever! wont cover on whats gonna be on the test, all she does is talk about her kid dont take if u want to fell the class and lower your gpa
the most unclear teacher ever dont take her
if like to read alot and do alot of work specially for finals then take her but she sucks!!
This class is interesting but it is alot of work. Her lectures are pretty boring and she grades super hard. 3 papers and 3 tests. Attendance is also mandatory and she takes points off when you miss class.
I dont know what these other people are talking about. She is awesome. Good stories to relate to the lectures, the tests are easy if you show up to class and listen and she gives extra credit for attendance.
Very good teacher, interesting and funny.
Class was very interesting. Sadly, her expectations are extremely high, and she grades too hard.
This was an on-line class. She told me that she uses the same format as the other teachers to get the homework in. But she does not. Slow response to questions. I will not take classes with A. Camelot again!!!!!
DONT TAKE HER!! shes a b@&^! all she talks about is her fat husband and when it comes to take tests everyone is clules on whats shes looking for! will not help u at all unless ur one of her favorites.
I agree with the last person. I took her my first semester at Saddleback and I thought she was great. Not a lot of work, a lot of group work. Easy.
Her expectations were way too high and she did not do a thorough job of explaining what she wanted. I worked my tail off in this class and my grade was not reflective. The average scores were D's and C's the whole way. DO NOT DO THIS TO YOURSELF!!!
She has absurd expectations which were not made clear as far as papers and discussion board comments go. Slow in responding to emails, unfair, and if she doesn't like you, she'll make sure you know it. I should've heeded to her poor reviews before taking her class. *BEWARE*
Great teacher, take her! I am international student and she helped me a lot. She is wonderful! The class is easy if you study and come to school.
Maybe her in class course fares better than her online course does, but unless you want to cause some serious damage to your GPA, do NOT take her. She is demanding with unclear expectations, rude, and ignores your emails. I've taken a few online courses before and this is the only bad experience I've had.
She is strict with attendance, but you wouldn't want to miss her lectures anyway! All the videos were really interesting and on subjects you wouldn't expect her to present. She's very clear on papers, just dont go off on your own tangents and stick to the requirements and you'll be fine. Great teacher, great lectures, and cool subjects!
I took Soc 1 online, and I do not recommend taking this class online to anyone. I'm sure she is a decent teacher, but unless you want to work really hard for nothing, this online class isn't for you. She grades papers critically, and directions are unclear; it's pretty hard to figure out what she's asking of you.
There seems to be 2 different teachers. People who take her on the internet don't like her, but I took 2 of her classes & love her! I have never learned so much. She's so nice. The only thing is that her tests and papers require you to APPLY the material. If you come to class everyday & take notes, this shouldn't be a problem, she makes it fun.
One of the best classes I have ever taken.
I took this as an internet class. I did have to study, but not too excessively, made tests easy. Part of your grade is to post bulletins, and I highly recommend doing the extras. This causes her to be favorable in her GRADING! 2 complaints: Had to watch Menace to Society(YUK), and she MADE UP A THEORY! Easy B, takes some effort for an A
shes so freaking hard all she talks about its her stupid kids, dont take her. she talks about her personal life all the time and when it comes to for the test ur lost cuz she dint go over anything, she spects you to learn by your self and attendence is a must and if she doesnt like you shell fail you DONT TAKE HER IF YOU WANT TO FAIL!!!!!
i took her class online and had a hard time maintaing a D. her writing assignments were so unclear and then after she'd comment saying what she was looking for... tell us what you want before we write it so we can give it to you. a LOT of reading and super hard exams. i wouldn't recommend her at alllll.
Her class was VERY interesting. Easy and entertaining class materials. I did LEARN A LOT!-OnlineClass online-she seemed very nice. That all said:The course is a bit too difficult for an INTRO class. I worked my booty off and I am getting a B. I know-grade inflation-we all expect A's.
Allison is the best teacher. Her lectures are very interesting and she makes them fun. You watch movies and have to write a vignette paper and to incorporate all the terms and theories you learned in the class. (7 pages). Attendance in class is manadory and if you show up you get 5 extra credit points. If you don't like to study and keep up with t
Allison Camelot is the best Sociology teacher. This class was very interesting and she made it even more interesting. :) It's all about marriage , family and relationships. So, if you have a bad relationship take this class for your own interest. Allison is a very helpful teacher. Take this class, come to class , do your best and get an A.
Great Professor. Really enjoys sociology as well as teaching it. The class does require a bit of work for an intro class but if you enjoy the material you will not mind. The class is not an easy A and her emphasis is towards encouraging people to become Sociology majors. Is very helpful as long as you make the effort to seek help.
worse teacher ever dont take her....
I took Sociology 2 Online and she was great! Her tests are slightly challenging and kind of grades harshly on your essays. She is very helpful if you have a technical problem (if you take it online. For assignments, make sure to follow ALL directions. For tests, study the book and lecture notes. If you do that, you'll do well!
GREAT PROFESSOR!!! Really got me fascinated with the subject of Sociology, had no prior interest beforehand but after taking, I'm NOW a Sociology Major :] Loved the class, very help and dedicated!! She does need to shut the hell up about her kids though, it's a classroom NOT personal story time
I had this professor on-line for Social problems. While I got an A I felt this was probably the worst organization I've seen~ she clarified what she wanted from the class AFTER assignments were turned in and graded. I would not take a class with her again.
She's actually really nice if you ask for help. Participation is key as well as good note-taking to get an A. NEVER sleep in her class, she will kick you out. If you're a slacker don't take the class.
Online course: 4 exams, 3 papers, and a quiz. Pretty easy material, and tests are basically hypothetical questions that mirror the text very accurately (super easy as an open book test). Paper instructions were strange and expectations weren't very clear. Only a week allowed to work on major papers, not enough time. Generous grader- overall okay.
She rocks sociology!
Allison has been the best online teacher that I have had so far. It was a lot of work so if you are looking for easy, I wouldn't recommend her, but if you are serious and do your work, she is the best. Keep up with your work and you can do well.
review ***ONLINE CLASS***! She is a bit egotistical. I mean sociology is what she knows best so she loves to go on the "well what else can you see?" route...which isn't bad but this is community college. It effects my grade going into a university so if that's your goal is might hurt your GPA as it did with mine. First B in a long while!
Expectations on papers were way too high given how unclear the guidelines are. She plays favorites. Beware.
This professor was amazing. It was fun and pretty easy if you did what was asked of you. 3 Papers, 4 Exams and Discussion Board every week. She always kept everyone up and participating. She wants everyone to do well but wont just hand out A's an B's. You do have to work for them, if you give the effort she will too. Take her class!!! ;)
she is a great professor! i dont agree with some of the things said about her in previous comments, mainly because you just have to follow directions. The directions are VERY CLEAR! and she gives plenty of opportunities to ask questions if you arent sure. She is easy to get ahold of. her lecture notes are the best study tool!!
Great teacher! I had a moderate interest in Sociology prior to taking her on-line summer course, but am not honestly thinking of changing my major to sociology. She was VERY helpful and did a great job when explaining assignments and what is expected of you. It is a lot of work, but as long as you keep up, you'll be fine. Take Allsion if you can!!!
First bad experience with an online class. She is extremely rude and takes a long time to answer emails. She grades exceedingly hard and unfairly. I should have listened to all the other bad comments and not taken this class, or at least not had her as my teacher. I'm actually a good student and thanks to her my GPA will not longer show that.
First off, she is incredibly clear. She tells you WHAT to write about and how much of each topic there has to be, you just have to read the posting. Very personable and timely wrt email responses. She is pretty easy if you put a LITTLE effort into, if you don't she will smack you down with the wrath of god.
I enjoyed Sociology until I took her course. She truly made me not want to be any part of it. Good Luck if you take her.
My interest in sociology plummeted after taking this class. Extremely hard, time consuming, requires weekly assignments, 3 papers, 4 tests,12 HOURS OF COMMUNITY SERVICE! grades hard and unfair. I will never take an online class again after this class. requires way to much work.
She seemed nice at first, but quickly changed my mind. Her assignments NEVER make sense, until it's just about too late or last minute. After the 2nd week, she finally cleared up a misunderstanding the whole class had about which days our assignments were due. She plays favorites. Shes RUDE. If you want to graduate-DO NOT take her class.
First online class. A lot more work than anticipated so if you're looking for an easy A - forget it. You have to keep up or you'll easily fail. Cemelot is very thorough and pretty quick at answering emails. A lot of work and reading some long chapters but she keeps it interesting.
Take her online class! Yes, the discussion boards are a pain, but it's an easy A. Everyone I know who has taken her class on campus hated it, but I truly loved her online class.
Enjoyed the material - did not enjoy my first C in three years.
My first semester in college I took four online classes which were very helpful and took up as much time as I figured except for this one. If you plan on taking other classes, or even working part-time forget it. All of my other teachers were very nice about letting me retake exams if there was a problem with my computer but not her you get a zero.
essays are difficult and most students get a C on her exams recommend not taking online
Exams are hard! Her lectures online are unclear so you have to read ALL the text to understand!
If you attend lectures and read the book, you will have no trouble passing this class. She genuinely wants her students to learn the subject. She is also great at responding to emails of any kind. Take her class if you know what's good for you.
I just finished taking her online 8 week class. Yeah the class is not like a typical online class, cause it actually makes you work. As I take this class I am at a UC but I was once my self a JC student. It?s one of those classes that is hard for JC but only because it is equal to that at a UC or state college. I liked and I thought she was easy.
I really liked her classes because there are things I socially did not "get", but this class made it clear why culture is the way it is.
Great teacher.
I have taken every single class she has taught at saddleback. Literally! Camelot is a very good teacher even though i did take her classes online. If i needed help with anything she was usually available in her office.Excellent teacher, would recommend her to anyone
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS ONLINE. She grades your 2 papers & weekly discussion board posts like a Stanford University English teacher. The 3 exams are HARD/TIME CONSUMING/TOO COMPLEX (not given enough time to complete 60 "beat around the bush" questions & her study guides are useless) bottom line... choose another Professor!
She's a hard grader, but a nice lady. I took her class online. It's a lot of work but if you keep on top of it, you'll be fine. She's fair and responds to emails very quickly.
She keeps you until the very last minute of class so don't expect to get out early. Her study guides arnt very helpful but as long as you look over your notes than the tests arnt to hard. She gives personal stories about Marriage and family so it makes the class a lot more interesting. The papers arnt to bad and they dont have a page requirements.
I took this class online. Although it was very time consuming and not easy, it was a very interesting class. Be prepared to do a large community service project in your spare time which is hard if you work. Allison was very clear in her expectation and if you follow directions you can get an A. Very nice and passionate about what she teaches.
Let me start off by saying that the work was only time consuming because you were so stressed out about her grading that you were spending unecessary time doing it. She is pretty cold and makes it seem like your questions are a burden on her life. Honestly, go to a much more qualified professor if you don't want to waste your time.
This professor is very rude. Her exams are all over the place and the study guides are pointless. I think the online class sounds easy, but it is a LOT of reading. She grades terribly. Recommend not taking any of this professors classes.
I find this class to be very fun and interesting. If you pay attention and participate in class discussions, this class is a breeze. This class was a hybrid(in class/online, so the exams are all online and open booked. She gives plenty of extra credit opportunities as well.
Professor Camelot is very clear about what she wants from her students in papers and exams. Especially when it comes to papers she tells you exactly what to include. Basically, if you show up, take decent notes, write decent papers and follow her directions you will pass the class fairly easily. Plus she makes it interesting and applicable to life.
This teacher was extremely hard. She did not even give anyone a chance. I tried to give her a chance, but even my guidance councilor told me to drop her. I guess she is known for failing people. =/ Just a heads up to anyone considering her class. Maybe I could pass this class if it were my only one and didn't work...but that just isn't the case.
I took online.I dont know why everyone rated her so hard.Lazy students I guess. Its sociology, easy to expound on concept/ideas.You just use terms from the book, dont have to read it really. Terms+Personal thoughts=A+. Simple.Follow her clear directions.Write in discussion board responses more than just2 sentences people!never used the Reader book!
I loved this class! She is amazing and gave incredible information. She made it really interesting. She laughs at herself and is willing to admit when something goes wrong. If one is a serious student they will enjoy what she has to offer which is a lot!
Look, stop being lazy and complaining. She's clear, she's helpful, she's a sweetheart. I took her online course and although her exams are very difficult, you will earn your A with hard work. Don't be afraid and stop listening to students who don't value education as much as us kids who really care
Great teacher! Her lectures are interesting and there's only 2 papers. Follow the direction on the papers, you will get an 'A.' Tests are online and make sure you take notes and skim the chapter. Lover her!!
Really great professor. Very clear on what she expects on the 2 papers follow directions and you will get an A. Tests are online, few homework assignments that are all extra credit. Best professor I've had at saddleback hands down.
LOVE HER, she loves what she teaches and you just need to follow her guidelines. Everyone needs to take her class
All these people saying they hate her must be the sleep in class type of people. This class is incredibly easy and INTERESTING. I will definitely be taking more of her classes, she is very passionate about what she does and you can tell in her lectures. The two essay assignments are easy as well as tests just take good notes and you're set.
Loved her. She was incredibly nice and very clear with what she wanted to be done. She made all of the information very interesting. All tests were done online and a detailed study guide was given for each one.
All the people who said she's hard are probably just lazy! Allison is an amazing teacher and is crystal clear on what she expects on assignments. I highly recommend her hybrid class, she let us know each class meeting what was due on blackboard. Take good notes, it will help on tests. Also the 2 essays are pretty simple, Enjoyed her class
Great teacher! Loved her. Very nice, very helpful. Tells you exactly what to expect the first day of class. Very organized. Give extra credit opportunities. Just follow directions and you'll get an A. Attendance mandatory otherwise you will missed important notes and discussions.
Super nice. People who left poor reviews were probably not putting in much time. There are two papers. Expects the student to write their paper as if he or she is in college not high school. Has a study guide for the test and tests are online.
I had no interest in Sociology when I started this course and struggled through the first week. I'm glad I stayed with it though. If you make the effort to read the material and to follow her study guides and paper guidelines you can succeed in this class. She is passionate about the subject matter and ready to help anyone who asks.
She was a very nice lady from what I could tell, but her study guides had absolutely nothing to do with the tests. Tests were difficult and unclear.. Although I got an A after spending too many hours on her class work, her grading system was way too hard.
She loves sociology and she loves teaching - the perfect college professor. There is a lot of reading but it's interesting and goes fast. If you pay attention in class and do the reading, the papers and tests will be easy.
Show some interest, ask questions, e-mail and visit office hours and you'll do fine. Most test questions are from lecture so pay attention and take notes! She is funny, has a good sense of humor but will call you out if you're texting and/or talking during class. She is fair and the class is interesting :))
This prof has no mercy! she expects way too much and asks for a lot of specifics which is hard to do if you are enrolled in other classes, have a job, have a life besides her class, etc.The online discussion boards stop being fun midsemester when she starts asking for too much. Other than that, she is responsive, helpful, and consistent.I dont' rec
I loved her! Her lectures are extremely interesting, and she makes Sociology applicable to everyone. Just follow instructions exactly, listen to lectures, and read the articles for a good grade. The information is intriguing so that helps as well.
She never explained what she wanted from you. Her intro video was unprofessional and she was irritating. Don't even bother taking a class with her. I may have gotten an A but I had to work for it. And it wasn't easy.
You use your book a lot and there is tons of readings. The exams weren't too hard and she was always willing to answer questions. It's not a super easy A but she's a good teacher.
Professor was hard to reach at times. Annocements were after the fact. Overall this was an easy class a something I would be interested in however, her grading was not as it says. Unorganized. Would I recommend this particular class…no find another instructor and spare yourself the confusion.
Camelot is by far one of the best professors I've had thus far! She makes Sociology very interesting, applies it to everyone, and is helpful. I took her 8 week Summer class. Anyone will love this class!!
I LOVED this class. I was a little annoyed to have to take this class over the summer, but professor Camelot made it fun. It was fast paced, with lots of reading, and weekly discussion boards. But the material was very interesting and engaging. I highly recommend this class. It won't be an easy A, but there is extra credit and exams are fair.
I liked the material in this course, but the professor is annoying at times. Initially, she seemed very nervous and unconfident- but loud- during lecture. I've grown used to her "style," but it might be bothersome to some. Attendance isn't mandatory, but she likes to give out random homework (points add up) to ensure attendance. Overall, decent.
Interesting class! I loved learning about deviance, education, gender, and race. There is quite a bit of work, but it is manageable if you put the time and effort in. She uses her personal experiences as examples which helps expand the key words and she has clear expectations, so that is a plus. Very approachable and down-to-earth, as well.
I took the online summer class and I was happy to find out that the class is not too demanding. It was still an 8 week course, but if you do well at checking your computer a couple times a week, then this course will be good for you.
I took an online class for the convenience of doing work when I wanted, but the prof requires at least three days of participation. The lectures are book reading and watching long movies. Also, they make you get a reader that you can find online articles of. $30 down the drain.
Professor Camelot is a great teacher and you can tell she LOVES sociology. The class is pretty tough though if sociology isn't really your thing. The tests are HARD and over info that can only be found if you read EVERY PAGE of the text book chapters she assigns. You really have to work for it. You can tell she cares about your success though.
She's may not be the greatest teacher out there. She talks about her personal life a lot but the class is incredibly easy. Her tests are very simple and the two papers we had were very straight forward.
She is awesome! Go to class and do the homework and you will get an A. Learned a lot and got the grade I wanted!
Professor Camelot is great! She is also the head of the Sociology Department so she knows her stuff. The way she sets up her online class was great and helps you stay on track. I took this class during the summer so it was accelerated. Keeping up with the reading was hard, but doable. Her lectures and the videos she adds help you learn and get an A
This Prof is a tough grader, she does look at everything into detail that you post such as discussions and papers. She assigns weekly discussion boards, two paper assignments, 3 exams and possibly one extra credit. You do need to read a lot and understand the material in order to pass the exams. Also, reply to your peers!
Tough grader. Points deducted even though I did the work for not logging on to black board enough and graded discussion posts if not thorough enough. Also has to create a first post to see the rest of the discussion board so if your confused good luck. Made us buy her $50 book that she wrote at the library which I never used once.
I took the 8 week online class, which was fairly easy. Quite a bit of reading, which you'll be tested on. Overall, do your reading and assignments and you'll get an A.
The discussion boards have to be very thorough or she will tell you to add more or elaborate and take points off. The hardest part for me was her tests. The study guides she gave were so broad and didn't help at all. Some of the material on tests we had never learned or covered in the notes. Don't take this class!!
Super hard online class. Not too specific on instruction. Don't take unless this is your major!!!
I do not recommend taking this teacher Allison Camelot. She had over 80 students in her class and now only has 15 students remaining. She is a tough grader and gives a lot of homework. She is the reason why, Saddleback College has the lowest rate of graduates.
Takes herself too seriously. Someone remind her this is Saddleback and we're here to transfer as full time working students. Instructions are repetitive which come off demeaning as if, "we won't get it" and actually complicates things. "If you don't submit a work cited page your whole paper is considered plagiarism" on the syllabus. Don't take her.
This was the best teacher I have ever had at Saddleback. She is incredibly passionate in what she teaches, if you show up and do the homework and 2or 3 essays it is fairly easy. But if you're someone who is lazy don't expect an A. Put the effort in and it is an easy A. I wish she taught Soc 2! Her class if very fun!
I took Professor Camelots Sociology 1 course online over the summer and it is a class I would recommend to anyone trying to complete their GEs. It is relatively a small amount of work and the tests are very easy. Take this course for an easy A.
Took as a 4 year uni student. Unorganized professor. Does not post assignments in a timely manner. Requires a lot of participation for a lower level class. Assignments are vague & she will not clarify. Not accessible; spent class talking about her newfound veganism. Not open to dissenting opinions. Would not recc unless you have lots of free time
Took this class as an online course. It is manageable but the discussion boards are so often that it was often hard to keep up. Also not understanding in the least when it comes to not being able to post or having difficulties posting. Will just brush you off and do nothing to help you. Dont take this class unless you have a LOT of free time.
Professor Camelot was AMAZING - intelligent, knowledgeable, fun & entertaining. I took her for Intro. to Sociology. Like most classes, just show up, take notes off the lectures, do a little light reading, turn in weekly hw. & she even gives out extra credit! Seriously if you want to buff up your GPA & you'll do the work take her!! She's RAD!! :)
Prof. Camelot is what you call a conflict theorist as she describes. She loves to focus on how unequal everything is for women and "minorities" instead of emphasizing different parts of the science itself. If you're anything close to conservative Camelot is not the teacher for you. Get ready to hear some sjw family stories and how "bad" society is.
Definitely my favorite professor!!! Prof Camelot is very intelligent and gives you very clear feedback whether you ask or not. Absolutely love her lectures, she is interesting and super funny. I would recommend anyone to take one of her classes :)
Come to class because if you miss even 1 assignment it will seriously hurt your grade. The class is very straightforward but her criteria for papers and HW makes the material way more complicated than it needs to be. She micromanages the class and talks to students like high school freshman which can be frustrating. Try to take online if you can.
This was an online class. It is heavily discussion-based with 3 exams, 2 papers, and 1 discussion board per week. Since this was an 8-week class, it was fast-paced, meaning a lot of chapters to read per week. Sometimes 2 chapters per week, but can go up to four or five. Replies quick to emails. You need to participate in discussion for 2 to 3 days.
I shouldve done it pass no pass. There are 2 heavy essays for an INTRODUCTION class. Her outlines are clear however she marks you off for things that she does NOT mention in her outline. So if you follow the outline to a T you will still do poorly. I was so upset, take a different teacher or GE.
Professor Camelot's study guide only has terms that we should know in depth for the exam. There are 3 exams and they are not cumulative. Also, there are two major papers. Make sure you read all of the lectures, chapters, and watch the videos in order to pass the exams. They are 70 multiple-choice questions and worth 35 points each.
This class is a lot of work, but it is fairly easy. It is a very good class to take for credit, and you also learn a lot. Professor Camelot is a great instructor and gives really good feedback on papers. Overall, I highly recommend this class.
Camelot is one of the best teachers Ive had. For an online class she was super engaged with us, lectures and expectations perfectly clear. Highly organized and she really takes the time to help extract the concepts we are learning by participating in our discussions. Quizzes and exams open book but the papers are what matter.
This professor expects post-grad level participation and work from undergrad students. When you ask questions she will tell you to just look it up instead of give you answers, she won't even direct you as to where you could find answers. She is a tough grader and her essays will be graded far beyond things listed in the rubric. She is just awful.
The syllabus is clear, so that is good. The research papers are somewhat difficult.
Camelot is a great professor! She tells you exactly what she expects & wants from the very beginning. Do not get me wrong, it is a lot of work but in a 10 week online class that is to be expected. Do the work, try your best and listen to her suggestions! I really feel like I learned something so no regrets here.
I took her class as a GE requirement. I'm sure that she is a nice person but she did not help me one bit when I asked for it. She takes a couple days to answer then her answer doesn't even help. She had no example of discussion boards and once you posted something, you couldn't rewrite it. There was no study guides for tests. Very Stressful!!!!
Im currently taking her Intro to Sociology 8 week class. She seems very passionate based on her written lectures. Be ready for a heavy work load- last Sunday, a 5 page essay was due. This week, we have 45-50 lecture notes, 2 articles, 3 days of discussion, 5+ videos, and a 60 question test. Next week, we have an 8 page essay due plus course work.
I could not recommend Professor Camelot enough for anyone seeking to take future Sociology courses at Saddleback. Her online class was very well organised and easy to follow. Only 1 discussion board a week, as well as 2 papers. She assigns 3 tests throughout the course, all covered by material she assigns. Very easy to pass.
Such a great professor! Be ready for a lot of discussions but they are ones that make you think and really are worth the effort. There are not a lot of papers but the ones you do have matter. Take the time to read all the extra resources she provides as they are invaluable. Her teaching style is hands on and she engaged with the class a lot.
I really enjoyed her class and thought it was very educational, frustrating during the middle of a pandemic when obviously many are struggling to adjust wont offer anything for a 1% grade bump in my case.
Easy A. Mainly graded on discussions so make sure to actually try and everything else was easy. Study Guide was given for tests. Papers were on interesting topics that were easy to write about. Great professor. Quick to respond to emails and questions. Do the work and you will be fine. Also she is super sweet which is always a plus.
The free, online, textbook is more like a research blog. It has spelling errors, grammatical errors, and generalizations (read Chapter 3). LOTS OF ARTICLES TO READ TOO. She's rigid on making sure you're on canvas, typing your post, replying to other's post, 3-4 times in a row. If you're even early on all of it, YOU'RE LATE! She's stingy.
Professor Camelot is truly incredible!! The key to doing well is to stay on top of the material and reach out if you need help on the paper assignments!! She makes herself available and she is quick to reply as well. Her lectures are fantastic. The exam study guides were very helpful!! Great material content and the class was transformational!
You will mostly be doing discussion boards and your first post on each of the weekly discussions might take some time but just following the directions will give you a 100% on the discussions. Papers were easy to write as most of it is your own stories mixed with terms from lectures, which by the way are easy to follow and read. Tests were mild.
This class is mostly discussion posts. Professor Camelot writes her own lectures (and they're not PowerPoints, which is nice), and they're easily digestible. The textbook was also free. She gives really good feedback on essays as well.
Good professor. Highly recommend taking her class.
Sucks when you try hard in all of your classes and get all A's and one C. I spent so much time on my final paper and included as many sources as I could. A 10-15 page paper? It's never that serious.
Professor Camelot is one of the worst professors I have ever had. Her expectations and demands are way too high for her quality of teaching. I learned absolutely nothing in her class and spent the entire course stressed. She will give you no more than 5 days to complete essays that have extraneous demands. DO NOT TAKE PROFESSOR CAMELOT!
If you enjoy sociology, I highly recommend Prof Camelot. She clearly cares about what she teaches, and her weekly updates makes it feel like you actually have a professor despite the online format. However, this isn't an easy A class- she has high expectations. If you follow her grading rubrics and submit discussion posts on time, you'll do well.
Professor Camelot did a fabulous job teaching this class. Although it was online (no meetings), it was organized and accessible. There is a fair amount of reading (2-3 ch./week). There are 2 papers which account for a majority of your grade. You need to participate at least 3 times a week on discussion boards. Stay organized & you will do well.
Do not take this class. Seriously, the amount of material presented is ridiculous. She requires 5 discussion board posts every week. You have to post on three separate days of the week. During busy weeks, this absurd rule is hard to remember. Overall, I felt unsupported by Professor Camelot and DO NOT recommend this class. :)
The format of the on line class is awful. There are no lecture videos, only a zillion documents to read and understand. She is a very stingy grader. Many of the exam questions were detailed questions from the readings.
tough grader, the papers are so unusually complicated!
Professor Camelot is a great professor. She cares about the subject matter and whether her students are successful. I definitely recommend her.
Loved this prof took the 8week version of her class and was very MANAGABLE. keep a planner and you'll do fine. was a lot of reading and material but as expected with an 8week.
The textbook was free which is nice. About how much work you would expect for an 8-week class but she still is very tedious with her requirements. Discussions become annoying since you need to participate at least 5 times. Papers also have a lot of requirements but they're not that difficult. Her lectures were easy to understand but they were long.
She assumes that you will devote your life to her class, and your grade will constantly be on the line. She requires a ridiculous amount of participation for discussion boards, her expectations are unrealistic, and her course material is subjective to her progressive beliefs. I felt targeted for having traditional family values. DO NOT take her.
If you have a disability or you work to support yourself, avoid her class. Locks assignments the second theyre due (even tho syllabus says -10%/day), doesn't allow you to get ahead on discussions, if you meet the # of posts you still get docked if theyre not done on different days. Very dry, I don't feel comfortable coming to her for help again.
Not the worst class I've ever taken but the 5-8 page papers were pretty unnecessary, especially for a 100-level, intro course. Long lectures that were all written, which took time but easy to go back and reference. Discussion criteria were strange as you had to respond to responses, but again it wasn't horrible.
Strange criteria, too much homework. And her lecture is sort of strange.
0/10 would recommend. By far the worst most critical professor. Docks a good amount of points for finishing assignments early and for having a single grammatical mistake. Bland, boring, and extremely harsh. This class was a horrible experience and I have never felt like a bigger idiot in my life. TONS of reading, lectures, and discussion boards.
Professor Camelot makes the course unnecessarily long and difficult. She posts so many lectures per week that include long videos or movies. The course says you should invest about 6 hours per week to be successful, but that's more like 6 hours per day. Avoid her unless you absolutely have to take her class.
Professor Camelot's SOC1 class has high expectations, but engaging with the coursework pays off. The free textbook and online format are conveniences, while Unstuck study proved a valuable study tool along with the lectures. Overall, a rewarding experience for sociology enthusiasts.
Took her 8 week class this fall and got an A. There is definitely a lot of reading and she requires more work than the average for discussion boards, however the work is doable and if you follow her assignment instructions and rubric you will receive an A.
Ms. Camelot is very thorough and gives chances to students.
Honestly, this class is decently hard, but if you want to LEARN online, this is the teacher for you. She assigns a lot (I took 21 credits sem) and could keep up with the work. I loved this class, and I use the knowledge I learned every day. Overall, she is a tough grader and expects a lot, but you will learn about sociology and how it affects you.
She's clearly passionate about her job and I really enjoyed her class. I found the subject really interesting and liked her lectures. She's very clear on the instructions of essays and as long as you take notes and study the tests are pretty easy.
The lectures are very heavy, but Prof. Camelot makes it really clear. Just let her know you have any questions, she responds to emails fast, and she is willing to give you good feedback and suggestions!
