Demands a lot. Very charismatic teacher, but sometimes it feels like there is too much creative work and group work required for a lecture class.
Dr. Cleveland’s class if fun to attend and very informative!
Easy class for credits. Cool lady, but would rather hang out with her outside of class. Would be fun to go to a bar and check out guys with her.

Explains things well.
Environment is really easy if you go to class, and do the study guides. Her lectures are pretty interesting too. Very nice lady
Good teacher. Pretty demanding for a low-level class though. 4 papers and 4 in class exams (lowest grade for each is dropped) and a final. To get an A you must go to class b/c she strays from the book every once in a while and participation is worth 5%
She is very fun to have as a teacher. She knows what she is talking about, and if she doesn't, she will find out by the next class. Her study guides are very helpful. I enjoyed her class very much!
very helpful teacher and energetic. I highly recommend her. Makes topics interesting!!
she's the best professor i've ever had. honest. not like any of you are smart enough to draw your own conclusions, so here, i drew one for you. you can't top Dr. Cleveland
Very enthutiastic about teaching, but lectures are hard to keep up with. Study guides are way too broad and dont really help as much.
Study guides too broad. Lectures hard to follow. Activities-for the high-schoolers. Needs to curve. Does NOT answer e-mails on time. Tricky quizes. Lies about posting free question. Tests us on too many chapters, but...LOOKS GOOD.
She is great lady. This isn't an easy course but if you want to learn something Dr. Cleveland is your girl! You can tell she enjoys teaching, which is refreshing compared to most!
She is an excellent professor. I would recommend anyone to take her classes- I really learned alot and enjoyed it.
She sucks.I got a B and I think she sucks. She doesn't know how to answer any questions, she looks up answers, we are not allowed to use google on the tests! She doesnt curve the grades at the end. Teaches like u r in high school.Take someone else. Really
Some people nailed it earlier, she belongs teaching high school. Mainly because she tries to make attendance manditory by giving stupid assignments out, unannounced. Missing class caused me an 'A' in the course, so plan on going to every class.
Going into this course, I was planning on majoring in Biology because I loved it in high school, and took AP Bio, etc. After having Prf. Cleveland, I changed my major. I studied A LOT and ended up with a B, which is the only one I have had thus far in college. If you have a choice, take someone else!
She is nice, but being nice and being able to teach are 2 different things. She is not a good teacher. She combines 8 0r 9 chapters on one test, and gives very unclear study guides. I don't recommened taking her. I got a B in the class, and it is my first B in college as well, I am a senior.
Easy teacher - gives study guides and extra points on the hard test problems. Must attend class, take notes, and read book to pass with a decent grade. Easier than AP Bio
Really needs to be teaching high school. Would make an excellent AP Bio teacher. Participation stuff is nice for extra points, but forces you to attend. Just show up and stay awake and don't bomb the tests for an easy A. Very hot!
Excellent teacher, possibly one of the best at USF! Extremely helpful and clear for individuals who actually put forth effort by coming to class. Be honest with yourselves and take Dr. Cleveland if you want to learn Biology. Would strongly recommend taking her for any Biology class!
Great teacher! Out of all the Biology teachers I have had while pursuing pre-med/biology, Dr.Cleveland has definitely exceeded every one of my expectations. Of course every pre-med course is going to be a challenge, but she makes it more enjoyable.
Excellent Professo
Dr. C is the BEST ever! Genuine concern for students. Class has participation acitivities (go to class). Lots of quizes, but helps for the tests!
SHE IS AWEFUL. TAKE WUNDERLIN. HOW PEOPLE CAN SAY SHE IS A GOOD TEACHER IS BEYOND ME. SHE WOULD BE AT TEACHING BAR TENDING, SINCE SHE LOVED TO TELL HER **** STORIES.
HORRIBLE TEACHER!!! Bio was my major until I took bio 1 with cleveland. Her tests were very difficult, and she spent too much time on class assignments that were pointless, and it forced her to rush through some of the material. I found her class difficult, and not enjoyable at all. BAD TEACHER
Wonderful professor! i would take her again anytime. she gives very helpful study guides so study a lil for an easy A.
Great teacher!! Bio 1 was hard but it wasnt because of her. she did everything she could to make it as clear as possible.
She's great
great teacher, cares about her students, and makes sure she answers your questions. she is difficult, but as long as you read and take notes you will be fine. she promotes attendance by doing random in class activities, but you really learn by going. very challenging, but learned the most fromher
BAD TEACHER, BUT THERE ARE WORSE. BEWARE: HER STUDY GUIDES DO NOT MATCH THE TESTS, NOT R THEY REMOTELY SIMILIAR. BE PREPARED TO WORK YOUR BUTT OFF AND EVEN THEN PRBABLY GET A BAD GRADE. I DON'T THINK SHE WILL LAST LONG AT USF.
Pretty good eye candy!!!
She is great.. even if she was a bad teacher I wouldn't care. I would just attend to her class to look at her.
If you hate biology..take her.She will change your mind forever. She is awesome.I have never had a teacher that cares so much about her students. Her lectures, notes, and study guides are the same material you will be tested on. She's good.
A very good teacher. Allways helpful and easy and never dull. She really enjoys what she does and you can tell.
She's a great teacher and she's always willing to help her students. She tries to make her class as easy and interesting as possible.
I love Dr. Cleveland - she is a great teacher who really cares about her students. The material is not hard if you follow the study guides and read the book. I currently have an A and received an A in Bio 1 with Cleveland.
GREAT teacher- genuinely is interested in her students and the material she is teaching. Gives you lecture outlines with fill-in-the-blank answers... makes for very easy studying. Interesting class, tests are not hard but not too easy. Very clear, informative, interesting lectures. Take her class!
She honestly cares for her students and has a greeat personaility. I can't think of another teacher that shows more interests for the subject than her. the only drawback that i can think of is that she structures her class too leniently.
Wunderland..who? Cleveland great! Hated biology with a passion but still got an A, and some how she made me like it. Almost changed my major... not really. She's a great professor! the lab on the other hand is different story (killer)
Awesome, learned alot, environmentally conscious now. She's great, caring, engaging lectures, fill in the blank notes, decent tests. Study guides = bit iffy, not good w/ email, but has tons of office hrs u can hit up. 5 tests, a field trip, some xtra cred, and u drop lowest test. Take this class!!
She is a great teacher. With her fill in the blank notes and her test study guides, the class is fairly easy. She is very caring and wants her students to do well. She is willing to help a lot outside of class as well as during class. Also, She is great looking!
Execellent. I had her for bio 1 and 2. Her notes are good and her study guides are very similar to the tests. She's always there to help and is easy to listen to in class.
I really enjoyed this class. Dr. Cleveland is a wonderful teacher. I seriously believe anyone can get an A just by studying the study guide; the questions for the test come right out of the study guide questions. There is group interaction and she is very lively and energetic in class, she kept me awake.
She is a great teacher. She's what science teahcers need to all be like. She tells funny stories that help you remember concepts and here tests come straight from the study guides and notes that she gives. You have to read the book though because her tests are not like typical tests. You have to apply concepts to different aspects of science.
So helpfull. She made the class so enjoyable and easy to follow along to. Never boreing, always interesting. She was funny with all her stories about her expereince in the field. Really hot for a teacher, and any person for that matter.
Good prof -- but hard too. Is not the clearest w/assignments but is very nice. Strict with deadlines and expectations. She is a lot of fun. A fun class, but not an easy one per se.
I've never had a professor with such a helpful and encouraging attitude. She is a very genuine person and truly believes in her students. She was always willing to help outside of class whenever it was needed. Her lectures were always interesting, and her tests were very fair. If you keep up with studying, you've got your A.
Syllabus seems harsh but a very helpful teacher. Wants you to pass. Thinks of activities to help class learn visually. Tests come from lecture notes, which she posts online with blank fill ins, and book. Has a few questions on test that you muct apply knowledge but that is what seperates the Bs from the As. Definitely would recommend her.
Really cool, down to earth lady. Good at teaching boring concepts and making them interesting. Tests are hard- USE THE STUDY GUIDE WORKBOOK THAT COMES WITH THE TEXTBOOK- that is the only thing I used to study and I got A's on every test. She makes lecture outlines for you to print for every class so you can listen instead of write the whole time.
good teacher i would recomend her but you have to study no free ride, but she is a good teacher.
The class was pretty interesting. She offers two different options for your grade... one is taking just the exams, and the other involves some activities along with the exams. She provides you with study guides for the exams which help quite a bit...
Great professor. Def recommended. She gives the notes before class and thats all you really need to get A's on tests. Straightforward and very interesting.
she's adorable.
Dr. Cleveland's the best biology teacher here at USF! She will go out of her way to help a student. If you study her notes, do the study guide and read the text, review your LAB exercises, you'll get an A. But what distinguishes her from other bio teachers is that her exams are tough BUT straight-forward!
Do NOT take if you are a non-major. Do NOT take if you are a non-major. Do NOT take if you are a non-major.
DONT DO IT
I took Bio I & II with her. Will g out of way to help students and wants everyone to understand. She writes the test so that you need to know ALL characteristics of concept.Ex She will have 3 traits, along with answers two of the above or all of the above.Tests make you think, but are fare. They easily seperate the As, Bs, and Cs.No reason to fail.
She is Very Hard, and does not drop any Exams which is unfair.
If you aren't willing to memorize the whole book, don't take the class. She's a pretty good teacher, but her tests are a beast!
She explains everything very well. She does post study guides on blackboard, which do help, but you must really understand the material to pass the exams.
Who said that a dropping a test is fair??? it is fair to bad students, not to good students who work hard for their grades....
She's okay.. I wouldn't say she's easy, but not super hard either. You HAVE to study for her tests, and read the book. Her studyguide really helps though and her notes only help for the studyguide.
this class is "B" able, great teacher I admit... however tests can get on the annoying side though... study everything (her notes, study guide, and even some stuff from the lab)... offered bonus, not much, mainly b.c the PRS system pooped out on her/us
If you really want to learn Biology II and enjoy it at the same time then take her--Although, her tests are very tricky and the class itself is very time consuming study-wise just to obtain a "B". Overall, she is a GREAT teacher--Highly suggest taking if your serious about Bio.
She is very nice and not that bad looking either. Her tests are a little bit tricky but this is college what do u expect! She as very GOOD notes so if u study it and DO THE STUDY GUIDE you will be fine. Most people make the mistake of not doing the study guide and thats why they're complaining.
she kinda hot! study her lecture outlines
I did what everyone said and studied her lecture outlines, read the book and did the study guides for every exam and i am only passing with a C. Her tests are way too tricky, you better know the material inside and out before you take them.
she sux. not recomended
Look, I honestly do not know why any students would give Dr. C anything lower than a 4. I know Bio is a hard course but do the work and you will do well. She gives you every opportunity to do well. Many profs in the sciences do not and will not do this for their students.
Excellent teacher, extremely helpful and genuine. Very energetic and fun (I did not fall asleep even once during my 8 am class.) Tricky tests, but you get to choose if you want only tests to count for your grade or if you want class participation included. Optional final and fill-in-the-blank notes. Take her!
Definitely a challenging class, but you will learn a lot! She's a great teacher and makes learning Bio fun!
like every one keeps telling you she is a good teacher but her tests are tricky to the point of frustration most the reason why poeple dont do well is they didnt take enough time on the test expect to have to read a test question twice the homework is not mandatory though i suggest you take advantage of this option all an all a very excellent teach
um i will never listen to my friends' advice again. she IS a great lecturer, very clear and to the point, But her test are just like the SATs, there meant to trick u into missing it. I studied 7 hrs a day for 2 straight weeks... and I take the test and get a 67.5%.. I studied 3 hrs before the Final and I got a 85%. neither tests are curved. goodluk
Dr. C is an awesome teacher. This was my third time taking the class and I wish I had her in the beginning. Do the homework option, it will help your grades. All of her notes are fill in the blank. Also, tests can be tricky but she looks at the stats to see if questions are fair. Very fair teacher. Would take her again.
Dr. Cleveland is one of the most qualified teachers I have met in USF so far. And by "qualified teacher", I mean just that. She knows her material and most importantly, she can *teach* it. She goes above & beyond to make sure we *all* understand. I am taking Bio II with her, even though it means 8:00 am 3 days a week. Great class & great teacher.
Tests were tricky because they were essay format, but once you learned the format, it was relatively easy. Clickers & journal entries helped to boost a borderline grade. Dr. C is upbeat and is a wonderful teacher. I wish she taught more upper-level courses.
Best Bio teacher. I had to retake bio many times and finally passed with Dr. C. She has two grading options, one that requires homework and one that is just tests grades. The final exam came STRAIT from the book questions at the end of the chapter!!!! Take her!
She is a great teacher, and very helpful. She give you the opportunity to make another 100 points from CPS clicker if u choose to attend class. Very nice but her tests are hard and require alot of studying!!!

evolution is not the most interesting thing for me, but her lectures are really great. she provides you with outlined notes that you fill the blank, but when it comes time to study for the exam, i was clueless! her study guide is not that helpful b/c it's very vague...not like Upa, where his were specific. not too happy with this lady!
shes easy on the eyes and fair with the tests. i got an a in both bio 1 and bio 2!
I failed one of her classes before and vowed never to take another but I found my way back into her class and I am glad I did. I actually understand bio much better now. Very generous in grading, small amt. of easy homework, great slides and videos to help visual people like myself. Very understanding of students.
Dr. C is a great professor. Like everyone has already written, her tests are kind of tricky, so beware of that. Other than the tests, she's a great professor who is very knowledgeable about biology. I will be taking her again next semester for Bio II, and would suggest her to anyone! (As an added bonus, she's very easy on the eyes)!
Awesome professor! The best I've had so far!!! She actually makes her lectures something to look forward to. She's receptive to questions and always welcoming to students. The tests aren't "tricky" as some suggest. She doesn't ask questions to try and trick you. She makes you think, which is, afterall, what college is for. Highly recommended!
Dr. C is an absolutely wonderful professor. I would suggest her without pause. I took her for Bio I and Bio II. She cares about her students, she answers questions, she engages her class, and she is always there to help. Don't take this class if you expect an easy A. You will have to work and you will have to study, but you will learn the material.
Dr. C is great! She is very helpful, enjoys teaching and explains very well the material. Her tests are fair, I would recommend taking her class in a heart beat.
Great professor, engages the students and makes class interesting. Tests can be a little 'different,' but there's nothing otherwordly about them; she simply makes sure students know the material.
Very nice prof. She is helpful and is a real hot one. Haven't seen a hot one like this in a long time.
Dr. Clevland is SO helpful and is very nice. If you do not understand go to her office hours and she will explain. She is very clear as well. Attend class so that you can get points for Clicker questions... this will help you at the end of the semster.
Best science teacher that I have ever had at USF! Her teaching method is fulproof. You actually want to go to class. NOTE: Shell out the 20$ for the CPS!! its an easy 100 for a test grade at the end!
She was a great teacher. Her class was not easy but not hard either. If you go to class and take notes you will pass easily. I didn't miss one class, but I didn't study for any tests, and got an A.
Very passionate professor. I really loved attending class. I was very scared to take biology but by the end of the course, I ended up loving it. Some difficult content, but she explained everything well. I bought an older edition of the texbook for $4. The only difference was the chapter numbers were different.
Excellent Professor! I did her class as a transient student and I thought she was far better than any biology professor at my over priced private university!!!
Very nice. Fill in the blank notes so you can listen better in class. Tests are hard unless you study really well. She is a little tough but if you study you will learn a lot.
Dr. C is fair, professional, helpful, and tough. I took her for Bio I & II, and she is truly a great professor who wants to see her students succeed. You will have to read the book, study, and go to class to do well, esp. in Bio II. Valuable class. The tests are difficult, as the material is complex. Work hard & you will get the grade deserved.
Took her for environmental science even though she usually teaches bio. She was a great professor, really interested in the subject. If you go to class and fill in the blanks, you should be good for the tests just by knowing that information. I got an A on all the tests just by studying the fill in the blanks from the slides. Great professor.
She was an awesome teacher. Her tests are a bit tricky, so you need to really pay attention and study a lot before the test. She's very helpful so that you understand the material. I recommend her.
Dr. Cleveland is great. She tries to make the lectures interesting. If you go to class and get the clicker points it adds 10% to your grade. 3 tests, optional final. The tests were hard, but if you work to understand you should be fine. The lab is MUCH MUCH MUCH harder than the lecture. Good luck with the lab. Our lab average was a D.
She was totally a great teacher..especially since she was extremely hot.
She really knows what she is talking about. The tests are hard, you just need to study A LOT in order to do really well. She gives "review" sheets and vocab words which helps too.
If you want an easy A DONT TAKE HER!!! if you want to study a lot take her. She's OK in general but NOT great. Thinks too high of herself, Didnt like her class.
She is very clear in what she expects out of you. She teaches very well. She played a key role in stimulating my interest in biology. Do the clicker points!
It is true, she is a very sweet teacher but her tests will kill you. Plan to dedicate lots of study time for her class, even that sometimes wont help you. It's either you get it or you don't.
I loved her. I would definately recommend her. You haveeeee to go to class. missing clicker points will kill you quickly.
Prof. Cleveland is a nice but does not care about your grade in any way... Clicker points are for participation purposes only. She won't give them to you even if you were there and got it wrong. notes are all over the place, too many lines and not enough given to understand. Test #1- Study guide 2-her notes,3-Book & notes. I do NOT recommend.
Dr. Cleveland is a great teacher and her class is very interesting, but her tests are tricky. You can study really hard and be prepared for her tests and still not get an A.
Dr Cleaveland is very knowledgeable but her tests are hard. You might read the chapters and go through the study notes and still not get them right. She is a nice person but just be prepared for the hard tests.
Thinks that she's the best thing to ever happen to biology. Lectures are fast and interesting but the outlines she hands out are useless. Take advantage of the clicker! And no matter how hard you study for the tests she always finds a way to deceive you! Take her if you want something below an A
She made it so interesting, which is definitely a talent. She is the best biology teacher I've ever had.
Great Prof. Read and answer questions. Easy A if you do the work
Great teacher, really helpful, nice woman, and is interested in her students.
Best biology professor I've ever had. I was scared to take college level bio bc I didnt do well in h.s., but she made it fun and easy to understand. Attendance is not taken but u will miss the opp to get cps points which can really help ur grade. Didnt really use the book all that much; used her power points instead and got A-.
She is a great professor and a great person. I hate science and I made an A. She makes it interresting because she is very passionate about the course and she uses lota of real world examples to help clarify. Best choice for non-science majors.
I took this class 2 years ago, before I took this class I thought I had ZERO interest in biology or health. She completely sparked a major interest in me and now I am a student at the college of public health. Did I have to study? Yes.. but she is a great teacher who made me LOVE a subject I would have sworn that I hated :-)
Had her for Intro to Health Professions. The class was awful. She graded papers way too harshly. The class was a waste of time. She was also not easy to contact outside of class.
A wonderful professor who truly cares about her students and their success in the course. She adapted the syllabus a third of the way into the semester to align with our performance. She's also very understanding and lays out her expectations for you. I would take her again if she taught another class!
