Really cool teacher, young, understanding, friendly, and always willing to help. She is very good at explaining the material and makes it easier to understand. I was nervous going in to this class with everything I heard, but she has made it in to a class I look forward to going to. You do work in groups occasionally too. Would definitely it again.
Love Ms. Allison! She is very clear and helpful with the material. She breaks down the test into three chapters meaning we cover all the material at a steady pace. She gives notes on moodle to follow along w during class. Connect hw due on Sunday isn't hard. She should give the sample test packet earlier for us to go over. Go to class and yu pass!
SHE IS AMAZING. She is clear, helpful, and explains with efficiency. 4-6 tests and a mandatory final. The class is easy if you just go to class and pay attention. (or at least I thought so) You have to buy a textbook and online code to do the weekly homework.
She is not the best person for a math teacher. She would go over one basic problem during the lectures and then there are harder ones on homework, tests, etc. that have never been seen. When asked for help she was very hesitant to help. I felt on my on in the class with no help at all.
You need to go to class everyday because she moves quickly and you can miss a lot in one day. She gives notes to follow along with in class; I only studied these notes and made As on all the tests. Her tests aren't hard. She gives homework every day and grades it for correctness. A lot of times the homework problems are harder than those in class.
Day 1 of class, Her teaching was clear and detailed. She also posted up class policy and homework info a week before school started. excellent !!! She is HOTT too!
Great teacher
I love Ms. Allison. She explains everything very explicitly and will stop in her lecture to answer questions. You can e-mail her at any time with any questions regarding the homework (which you will have after every class period). Tests are easy if you make sure you know the material which isn't hard to do if you pay attention and seek help.
I have always been one who struggled with math, but she was very good at explaining how to do the problems. She is very nice and is always there if you need help.
I hate math and hate stats, but loved this class! she was always so nice and so helpful and while i hated all the homework we had to do (online and textbook that was graded for accuracy, not completion) it really did help because her tests were just like the homework. bonus: if you're happy with your grade at the end of the semester
If you are taking online, this course is HARD. Early on either buy a helper book or start watching videos. KNOW your FORMULAS!! Not all are on the tests, & the tests are difficult. Learn chapter 3, learn it well. It sets a lot of the foundation for the course. Dr. Cointot will explain anything (if you ask) & gives good feedback - reach out to her.
Great teacher. She explains things several times if need be. Make sure to attend class or you'll be lost when you show back up. Only 4 tests and a final, so grades were important. She's also so adorable.
Mrs. Cointot made everything very clear and was very helpful. I am terrible at math and she made it pretty easy.
I am usually really bad at Math. I've failed a couple of courses just trying to get my final Math credit to graduate. Mrs. Cointot is definitely the best college Math professor I've had because she explained things very clearly. I met with her a few times after class when I was confused and she was always happy to help. I ended up getting an A.
She has a routine and it flows smoothly. She will always explain herself and really knows how to get her point across. She's an amazing teacher and makes it easy to learn.
As bad as I am at math, she made this class really easy to understand. She is strict but she isn't mean about it. She makes a welcoming environment.
As an older returning student, Mrs. Cointot has spent a great deal of time getting me up to speed, explaining things clearly, and is a very understanding person. You will have to put in the work. She is always available, and very fair on grading. Gives small extra credit that adds up. I would retake her! Highly recommended!
I have always struggled with math, but this was by far the best math professor I have ever had. She made things easy to understand. Would definitely take again!
She was a great teacher, explained well, made this class easy! but don't skip class or you will be lost.
Attendance is not mandatory but you had better go to class or you will be absolutely lost. I missed an entire week of summer classes and came back completely lost. I had never even seen the covered material before. Between her and a tutor, I was able to pull through with a B. Ask her questions if you're lost. She's awesome.
REALLY FAIR. EXTRA CREDIT FOR HOMEWORK. NEVER LEAVE A TEST ANSWER BLANK, SHE GIVES CREDIT FOR JUST TRYING, NO MATTER HOW WRONG. READ ALL THE OBJECTIVES FOR EVERY CHAPTER, GIVES GOOD INFO THERE. DO THE PRACTICE PROBLEMS (IN ADDITION TO THE HOMEWORK) IN CONNECTMATH, SOME TEST QUESTIONS ARE VERY SIMILIAR TO THOSE. REALLY SWEET LADY.
Cointot is a great professor. she explains everything very well and answers all of your questions. there is usually 3 online homework assignments due every sunday and sometimes she'll give in class assignments. The tests are pretty straight forward, just pay attention in class and do the homework and you'll pass easily.
Awesome teacher, very clear and thorough when explaining concepts. Online homework due every Sunday night, with occasional written assignments, but it's math, so doing the work helps. Also, GO TO CLASS. It's not mandatory attendance but GO or else you'll be lost. Overall super nice, helpful, and down to earth, loved her class.
Professor Cointot was an incredible statistics professor. Attendance is not mandatory, but it is very confusing if you do not attend. She outlined the lectures for us and made it easy to answer the questions and follow along. There was a connectmath for every section but nothing overwhelming. Super understanding and sweet!
Mrs. Cointot is the best! She made statistics very easy to understand. Attendance was not mandatory, but class was way more difficult if you didn't go. If you go to class and pay attention, you'll pass with an A or B easily. Homework due every Sunday night and there were some in class assignments along with 4 tests and the final. Would take again
Not a bad teacher, she is very nice and is a great Stat teacher. However, in her syllabus she does not include that the final is OPTIONAL, she tells you this at the end of the semester. As long as you have a C you do not have to take it if you do not want to. The final is very hard and cumulative.
Online homework due every Sunday. Tests are ok if you go to class and take notes. If you miss a test, even with an excuse there is no make up. The test you missed is weighted with your final, therefor would be 40% of your grade. Great teacher, very helpful and explains things very well. I would recommend her for Stat215. Final at end is optional.
She made this class very easy and taught the information in a way everyone could understand.
Shes real nice and chill. Has her way of doing things, but she explains things to where everyone will eventually get it. Tests are moderate. Homework can either be long or short depending on the week.
Great professor, teaches in a way you can understand. She breaks down everything and also post fill in the blank notes which makes it easier to follow along in class. Homework is due every Sunday night around 11 on wiley but she also assigns book homework that she doesn't grade but those book problems are great to study for tests!
Mrs. Cointot is a great stats professor. She explains things in a way that all students can understand. Tests can be a little tricky though, and make sure you go to class, if not you'll be lost. As long as you do all the online homework and rework the problems before the test, you'll be fine.
Love Cointot, she's a wonderful teacher & happy to help with any troubles you have. Never cancelled a class so attend every one you can or you'll get lost fast. Online quizzes, textbook homework, and 4 tests 17.5% of grade and final 20%. STAT215 FINAL NOT OPTIONAL BECAUSE IT'S HONORS! Overall, if you do the work you can expect to make a B at least.
All notes are posted on moodle, so you just have to fill them in. Going to class is very crucial. She is very helpful and nice when you go to her office hours. Test can be very tricky, so make sure you know what you're doing. Do ALL connect math online and all homework/in class worksheets.
Allison Cointot is not the best professor. She grades hard and teaches pretty fast. She does not fully answer students questions and she is never available through email or office hours. She also does not accept homework late even if you have a drs excuse. Would not recommend this professor to anyone, especially for math 117.
Ms. Cointot made an online statistics course easy to navigate and the flow of her instruction was the key to success. The learning modules and ConnectMath program for homework created a cohesive learning environment to successfully complete the course.
Out of all the math instructors I've ever had, Mrs. Cointot is undoubtedly the absolute best. I highly recommend taking any math course with her. She is an excellent teacher and will take the time to make sure you absolutely understand the material.
Awful teacher. 8 people just in my class dropped, including me. Studying for 3 weeks for her last test and made a 68%, gave it to my tutor to look over and she said a lot of it was right, she just graded tough. Awful experience. Do not take for 117. (I hear she is okay for other maths)
Terrible professor. Grades EXTREMELY hard and does not care about you. Does not check with the class to see if anyone has questions about the information. Goes through the chapters extremely fast and a lot of homework is due every single week. Over 25 people just dropped the course in one day. Would not recommend this professor to anyone.
She is a TERRIBLE teacher, she grades really hard and doesnt care about whether the class knows the material or not. When people asks questions she finds every way to avoid answering the question. She goes through material really fast and talks down to you when you dont understand something that she said.
RUN! No one knows how she gets our grades. She does not put anything in Moodle. All the tests are given back with class grade but no one can figure out where this number comes from. She runs around any question a student asks in class and makes you feel silly for asking a question. When you ask about grades her only response is I don't know.
I DO NOT recommend taking Allison Cointot for Math 117!!!! I had a horrible experince from taking this course with her. I went to her office hours and she was not helpful at all. Her grading system is confusing and does not explain why she took off points she just puts an "X". 25 people dropped out of 2 classes this semester. Exit the buliding.
I'm not strong in math, and I definitely struggled in the class. Do your work, take plenty notes, and you should be able to figure everything out. I struggled with her exams because a lot of the questions wanted us to assume things that we had never talked about in class, but other than that, I don't know that I would have passed with anyone else.
i am strong in math and this is one of the hardest classes i have ever taken. mrs. cointot taught in a way that was easy to understand, but her test were insanely hard. she made her test very unclear and there was always problems where she never showed examples of that kind of situation. study, alot
I'm fairly good at math but boy did I struggle. Homework due online every Sunday and some on paper in between that. She explains concepts well, but the tests are extremely difficult. If you take this, get ready to dedicate a lot of time to it. Also, she does not put grades on moodle which really sucks.
Very nice , understanding , homework every week; if you watch the lectures and do the homework youll pass. Answers emails quickly. Work load is small
I am taking her now during COVID for the Fall 2020 Semester. She is very picky when she grades. When you explain your work, make sure you explain as if you're talking to a small child who knows nothing of the material. Also, USE THE TERMINOLOGY IN THE BOOK! Do NOT explain in your own words. Also do ALL of the homework! It adds up in the end!!
I took her for STAT 214 due to COVID-19 and everything being online, and I have learned many things. Ms. Cointot is definitely not a bad professor in any way, she cares about her students and is very polite with you, but unfortunately, her teaching style was not for me. She taught lessons in ways that my brain couldnt comprehend the material.
The lectures were online but we had to come to class and take her tests. I felt as though the class was fairly easy. She has test reviews and gives ample amount of time to study for her tests. She is picky about the wording of your answers but she literally gives so many examples during the recorded lectures. Also, do ALL HW, It'll help in the end
I have NEVER made an F in my life and i had to withdrawl her class at the end of the semester because i had a 33 F. I seriously cannot stress to you enough that DO NOT TAKE HER. she didn't give any tests, but gives you SO much homework. She will literally only grade 6 problems out of 60 and not give you any explanation why you missed.
RUUUUUUUUUUNNNN! If you want to survive RUN! Terrible!
Amazing instructor! Explains everything super clearly, clearly loves what she does. Lots of homework, as expected for a math class. Attendance not usually taken, but if you dont show up you will get lost. Concepts build on each other, especially from test 3 to test 4, so study the concepts well. Super glad I took her.
Took online and half semester. We did not interact since it was 100 online, but when you emailed her with questions she was very responsive and helpful. Material is challenging, once you took a test, you would barely deal with material again.
Do not take this class what do ever because if youre a slow learner like me she dosent care if you pass or fail and will tell you to just figure it out yourself.
This teacher in my opinion does not teach. She gives a lot of homework but only grades 4 out of the 10 questions. Doesnt tell you what you did wrong just puts X on it. Her tests are extremely hard. She doesnt help you even when you ask for it. She makes you feel belittled and stupid for even asking a question. Would not recommend this teacher.
Easy grader. Only grade is HW and 4 tests. If you pay attention the material is easy. I only studied by doing the online homework and I got an A. She made the exam optional if your grade was higher than a 70
There is so much! first of all, she is extremely nit picky with explanations and hw answers, and she doesn’t explain what you did wrong it’s just marked wrong. She does not upload grades to moodle, you have to contact her to know your grade. Started with 30 ppl and we have like 10 ppl left in class. so much hw and it’s for correctness
SHE IS ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE. Will grade only 3 questions out of 10 homework problems. The grades for homework are basically 5 points for each question and you rarely get a perfect. She is not willing to work with you, she is very under trained, and although she may understand the topic knowledge, we are learning it and she will try and fail you.
Ridiculous. Terrible. Quite literally impossible. I've taken her for two classes in college so far and have dropped them both because there was no way to pass them. Is rude and passive-aggressive. Hours worth of homework every night, and usually it's all wrong with no explanation. Just avoid this class completely.
Just look at all of the other reviews. I like the one that says "RUN". Seriously, run. You won't even know your overall grade in the class until finals week. She never answers your questions. Doesn't even have any experience teaching actual kids but is "teaching" us how to teach kids. Never tells you why you're wrong, just an X and maybe "why?".
Loved Cointot! She wrote the online textbook we used so she knew what she was doing. Ive never understood math more then in this class. The concepts could be tough for some lessons, but she taught very well, clearly, and was clear and organized about tests and assignments. If you get a 70 or higher in the class youre exempt from the final!
She has the worst attitude. She gave homework every class and even over the weekend. She graded homework like a test and she expected you to word your answer exactly how she would or she would give you points off. She did not give extra credit to help you. She answers emails really slow and won't answer questions about the last class's homework.
Run as fast as you can. This was my first bad grade in college and I've never devoted so much time to one class. I'm decent at math and even when I thought I understood the materials, the tests are very hard.
Cointot is a fun professor who is good at keeping your attention in class and teaches essentials that will apply to your life as an adult. I only recommend that if you have any learning disabilities make sure to get extended time because the tests can be loaded and a lot to process if you have anything like dyslexia, adhd, so on.
If you have other option I would recommend taking them. Stat is not hard to understand, but she makes it that way. She does not review much with you before exams so basically you are on your own to just memorize EVERYTHING. She is a very hard grader. She does not input grades in Moodle, so you wont know your grade most of the semester.
I really like the way she teaches. She teaches and then does many examples to make sure you understand. The homework is due every Sunday and most the time not more than 20 problems that you have a week to do. She also goes over what you need to know the class before a test and all the tests are very fair and not overly difficult.
Would not recommend taking her, especially if you have other options. She's very condescending and will roll her eyes at you for asking a question. Homework is easy, but the tests are much harder than the homework. She doesn't give partial credit on tests either.
run while you can that's all
Attendance is mandatory and must but Aleks ($150) for textbook and lots of homework. Very hard grader and takes lots of points off for simple things. She is a good teacher, like how teachers teach in high school. Sometimes catches an attitude and gets annoyed easily. Overall I have learned a lot, but there are easier STAT 214 teachers.
she is extremely tough and a very hard grader, if you care about your gpa do not take this class
Run while you can -ALEKS homework is upwards of 100 dollars and mandatory. -Does not put in grades, you will not know your grade for majority of the semester until last minute. -Don't bother asking questions. She will just roll her eyes and give a sarcastic response. -Very lecture heavy, come to class if you wanna pass.
I went into the class with a TI-Nspire CX thinking it would do but her lecture strictly follows the TI-83 and TI-84. She told me she would not help me learn how to use the TI-Nspire in her class and that I must buy a new calculator or fall behind. Her lectures were easy to follow, but she never once responded to my emails or answered my questions.
She was very sweet and funny, but the content is brutal and hard to follow. No attendence required, but attendence is necessary to pass the class. The exams are so difficult, only 7 questions each. If you know you struggle with math- she is NOT the professor for you. Final is cumulative.
She was super nice, but she did not help me understand Statistics at all. I studied hard for all her test, but there would only be between 7-12 questions on each test (with sub questions for each one). You have to do Aleks online assignments that are due every Sunday. Attendance is mandatory. There are 4 test and a final exam.
Good statistics teacher. Way better than the last and actually tries to explain things. Did not go too fast. Overall decent experience.
Maybe it was just my class, but she moved really fast and seemed annoyed when we asked questions. I def would not take again.
I am not good at math and this class was a struggle for me. Mrs. Cointot was a good teacher and she explained things well, but she DOES NOT like having to explain things more than once and she just won't explain it again. Her tests are pretty hard and you have to be good with numbers to do well. Be careful if you take this class cause its tough.
She really does know her math but, really overcomplicated everything. I had friends taking the same class with notes that were much easier to understand and their tests were straightforward. Our tests were longer and she took off lots of points. She also did not seem to care how hard you were trying and got annoyed when we asked questions.
This class was by far my worst. Professor belittles students who ask questions during class. The tests were very difficult and hard to understand. The homework didn't always match the classwork that was given. Definitely don't recommend this class if you care about your GPA.
I struggled so hard in this class. The tests and homework were very difficult. She gets irritated when questions are asked. Math has always been difficult for me but I always found a way to understand what I was learning. I'd stay up all night studying and still did poor in this class. Only take this if you truly need it.
. she puts nothing on moodle so for grading, you know what ur grade is only when u get a test back. i went to her office hrs because im failing and she basically told me i should know it since i go to class (which i have no idea what is going on) i dont suggest this class if you care about your grades
definitely the most difficult math professor I've ever had. she's a tough grader and condescending at times. she says she's there to help with whatever you need, but she's rolled her eyes at me and just says that we already covered the material in class so I should understand it already. if you struggle with math, I would say to take someone else!!
A lot of people say Cointot is tough, but if you have a basic understanding of math and go to class, it is not hard. Her grades are based on mainly the tests, but there is a small percentage of homework that goes into the grade. Just pay attention or go to her office hours and her class is easy
Not good. If you struggle with understanding concepts quick, don't take her. Went to office hours and she makes you feel dumb and gets upset when you can't understand something with the homework. Test heavy, can't really redeem yourself if you fail the tests because the homework isn't worth much.
i was scared for this class bc I read so many bad reviews, but as long as you go to class, put effort into trying to understand and ask questions, you should be fine. heavy on going to class, she doesnt post any completed notes so youll have to either teach yourself or ask a friend (I never went to her office hours so idk how those are )
Don't take this class if you aren't already good at math and somewhat familiar with the concepts. The tests that were each worth 17% of our final grade were 8 (multiple part) questions. The homework was a lot but it did help.
Amazing professor. If you attend, you will pass. She is very engaging and will try her hardest to get you to understand. Her tests are not hard and she is gives you everything you need and more to pass her tests and her class overall. 10/10 Love her
She moves fast so I'd skip asking questions during the lecture and take advantage of when there is extra class time and she offers help (she will also be nicer at this time). Getting 100% on the online homework is a must because you will likely be short on time each test and that is what will help your grade.
I studied the practice tests and payed attention to every single class. I studied all the material given to me and still failed every single test because they were different than what I was given to study. I don't know a student in my class that is passing right now.
Lectures barely taught anything, I ended up having to teach myself the material. Textbook/homework costed NINETY dollars (it's her own book?) and she was kinda passive aggressive. Didn't put grades in or respond to emails quickly. Her only saving graces were that attendance wasn't mandatory and she let us have one sheet of notes on each test.
Talked to the class as if we were children. I came to class but had the same understanding as someone who didn't attend. I would not take this class again.
as someone who genuinely likes math… this is the first math class where everything in lecture is BS because the test is never like the study guide. she's passive aggressive and is not lenient on grading. most everyone is failing right now
