Even though the semester's not over yet, I have to say that she is amazing. I was dreading taking this class, and I'm actually really enjoying it. Not super easy, but very interesting stuff instead of the same old dry list of dates and n She does a good mix of lectures, videos, and group work. She loves to hear students opinions. Really nice lady.
Really nice teacher, cares about her students and very helpful.Only thing is that you have to read on your own(tons of reading). The course is interesting but hard.
VERY NICE PROF. TEACHES CLEARLY. A LOT OF ESSAY WRITING, BUT IF YOU READ THE TEXT BOOK, AND THE STUDY SHEET SHE GIVES OUT YOU WILL BE FINE. AND SOMETIMES SHE ALOOWED CHEAT SHEET FOR ESSAY EVEN ON FINALS. GOOD MIXTURE OF LECTURE, NOT BORING FOR A HISORY CLASS. DEFINITELY RECOMMENDED!!!!TAKE HER!!
She is such a sweet lady I highly recommend her. You have to do a lot of reading but it is history. On exams she gives you study giudes and lets you use notes on all exams, quizzes, and final. Take her!
Professor is very clear and helpful specially before tests. History is taught from a different perspective which makes it interesting. Although there is nearly no HW, moderate reading is required. Readings are easy and get you hooked from the beginning. I highly recommend it.
She's not Asian but she sure knows alot about Asia history! She's really passionate about her subject and makes it totally interesting. I loved her lectures. Fun debates in class. VERY clear and really helpful and caring. And she's so cute too I love her smile!
Smart funny and HOT. Awesome class.
Prepare for a lecture the whole freaking! GREAT teacher but man, she talks all class long!
She is genuinely interested in teaching, and it reflects through the amount of effort she puts into class. Be prepared to take notes for entire class periods, and work for your grade. She grades fair, answers all questions, and is extremely helpful. There is plenty of reading, so be prepared to invest your time. Overall, a great professor.
This class is VERY VERY VERY time consuming. There is tons of work. However she gives plenty of class material to prepare you with information. Her grading scale is bogus. SHe is a good teacher reall informative. You must participate ALOT to earn your grade. I'd take her if this is your major.
COOL PROFESSOR!! I took her for both Asian history and US history, extremely helpful crystal clear on the information. if you just pay attention in class and take good notes then the essays on the exam is very easy! plus she offers good extra credits and cheat sheet for the exam!! overall awsome teacher!!!
She is a great teacher. I had to drop the class b/c of personal issues; however, I thought the class was very interesting b/c it's not boring @ all. Granted there's work to be done, but we're in college people. Also, participation is required but you can get points for that on the discussion board of BlackBoard not only in class.
frickert and I are like BFF'S. took history 11 and 12 with her and it was great! there is alot of reading to do but if you follow her study guides(which is basically what the test is made of) you will be fine. books and attendance are madatory. she loves what she does and it shows. :) fantastic!!!!<3
If you don't like History she will make you love it. If you don't like reading books, she will make you get interested and continue until you finish your assignments. She is an amazing professor who teaches the truth about our history. Very patient, straightforward, and very respectful. She is the bests of the bests. You'll love her classes.
I took her over summer and learned so much more than I expected. Hard work but worth it. Liked the readings and really liked her lectures. One thing that impressed me was how patient she was with stupid students who ask dumb questions. She never puts anyone down and is so encouraging. It made me want to be a better person.
I JUST STARTED THIS CLASS BUT I ALREADY LOVE IT! HISTORY IS USUALLY A BORE BUT SERIOUSLY IF YOU HAVE A THIRST FOR KNOWLEDGE AND ARE UNBIASE I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMENT TAKING HER! THERE IS ALOT OF WORK BUT ITS ONLY BECAUSE IM TAKING IT AS AN 8 WEEK COURSE. IF YOU TAKE IT IN THE WINTER OR SUMMER PREPARE TO DO ALOT OF READING.
Currently taking her for winter intersession. So far so good. Not sure if I'm a fan of having to copy what she says verbally down yet, but she's REALLY nice. Which is a problem because I notice students giving the wrong answers(or simply just irrelevant) but she acts like they're 100% absolutely correct. Lol. Gotta love her passion, though :)
Passionated About American History. Really Cute, but don't let her big round eyes and cute smile fool ya, she's really strict when it comes to Quizzes and Tests! Very Smart and Knowledgeable, she welcomes questions at anytime of the class! If You Hate History Now, you'll love it once you take her class!!!
Not only brilliant but easy to understand and she is tough but fair. I really felt like I had accomplished something when I got a good grade in her class. She's pretty cute too but that shouldn't be your main reason for taking this class ;)
Best Teacher in the World. Period
Don't expect an easy class. A lot of reading is required. she uses resources like powerpoints & movies. Gotta to take notes. pay attention to her Voice NOT! the PowerPoints. Now she is very Smart don't hesitate to ask her any questions you may have. She is really cool if you ask Questions! BTW She IS really Cute! She's Got pretty eyes!
Took in Fall 09. I'm somewhat of a history nerd so I already knew alot. Professor Frickert taught us to examine history outside the textbooks. Got me interested again. So far the best history professor I have had. Provides study guides and lets you do outline before test that you can use. TAKE NOTES! She is attractive and she has very pretty eyes.
I really enjoyed Professor Frickert's class. She teaches history as it really happened and doesn't try to sugar-coat it. She is really friendly and encouraging, but she's also really serious about tests and quizzes. You can tell she really enjoys the subject she teaches
Just lectures most of the time in class. Kicks you out of class if she catches you texting. For me, I wasn't really interested in history, so I didn't pay attention much, but she seemed okay. You really have to do your reading if you want to get a good grade in this class. Uses blackboard.com for participation. Overall pretty easy if you study alot
Totally interesting class- eye opening about the world. Prof is energetic, knowlegeable, and cute too! Great mix of teaching techniques. People who think she is hard must be lazy. I worked for my A but this IS college. Clear in her expectations and reads outlines and rough drafts which is about the nicest thing a teacher can do for you. Take her!
Great teacher! History is boring from time to time but she makes it interesting and she is easy to follow and easy to approach
For me, this class was unbelievably easy! But it was ALOT of work. If you do well on the tests and participate in discussion, it was be smooth sailing. Get the books because you will definitely need them.
Very organized lecturer and helpful if you ask. She likes people who contribute. MUST TALK IN CLASS. Favorable to you. Gives reading study guides, exam study guides, and tons of extra credit. Tests are straight forward: mc, pre-given essay, pre-given terms. No way you can fail.
Get ready to read the prof. Is cool making it intersting and keeping ur attention, help if u participate. Great teacher
Professor Frickert is seriously awesome. She has an amazing teaching style and good mix of formats and interesting lectures. Skilled at getting the class thinking and talking. Her class was definitely my favorite last semester. She's really cute too and very stylish.
A LOT OF READING! BE READY! SHOULD BE A 6 UNIT CLASS! LECTURES ALL CLASS. HELPS YOU WHENEVER NEEDED. SINCE EVERYONE HAS TO TAKE THIS CLASS I WOULD SAY TAKE IT WITH HER.
Don't let those big blue eyes and cute smile fool you. This professor means business and she's strict about exams and cell phones. She'a definitely super helpful though. Answers all questions asked. Hella smart.
Best professor ever. Period. You will love her class.
Okay, she teaches liberal opinion. Not my cup of tea, but easy to pass
Took her over intersession. Lots of reading. She's a super nice professor. You can tell she really cares about her students. Offers lots of help and will answer all questions. She's really passionate about what she teaches. During lecture pay attention to her VOICE not just the slides! Btw she IS really cute! She has pretty eyes.
She really knows her Asia history! Very funny & passionate about history. Got the whole class interested. I was never bored. Mostly lecture breaks it up with clips & activities. Very well organized and clear. Always helping students and answers all questions. Seriously has the best taste in fashion and music of any of my profs, a nice plus.
Awesome!! She really knows her material and goes out of her way to help you if you ask for it - she's very approachable. If you do the reading or pay attention to her lecture (not just the power point bullets) you will get an A, guaranteed. She doesn't try to trick you, but she expects you to put a little effort. Makes material fun.Best class ever!
REALLY HELPFUL! I DID NOT KNOW ANYTHING GOING INTO THIS CLASS AND SHE WAS WILLING TO HELP..JUST DO THE WORK AND EXTRA CREDIT AND YOU WILL DO FINE..IF YOU TAKE THIS CLASS TAKE IT WITH HER BECAUSE THE HELP IS THERE IF YOU NEED IT
Easy A, just make sure you do the outline for the essay portion
Nice, helpful and fun. You have to study but she makes the class interesting and she is also very qualified to teach this subject.
She is an amazing teacher! Keeps it interesting, fresh & brings history alive! Very organized and I never felt rushed even though she keeps to the schedule. She really cares about her students and treats everyone fairly. The person below is obviously very immature. The class is challenging and eye opening in the best possible way. Favorite class!
Professor Frickert made me LOVE history. She's an awesome teacher. She cares and will help anyone who asks. She fair and gives equal opportunity to everyone to pass her course. She's mean business and is strict, but not mean. She is by far my favorite professor I've had in my 3 years at SAC. I highly recommend taking her class.
Pro. Frickert is by far the best history teacher out there! She assigns a lot of reading but trust me the texts books she assigns are excellent! They really make you think out of the box and provides you with all the view points. Do the reading and it?s an easy A. I took it in inter session and got an A!
She's probably one of the best professors at Mt. SAC. Her lectures are interesting and she's always very organized. I thought the class would be hard but it's not that bad. If you pay attention in class and do the reading you'll get a good grade. I'd recommend her to anyone who needs to take history.
Very nice, upbeat teacher. You cover a lot of material but she makes it fairly interesting. Tests aren't bad if you do the readings. There was a surprise-no-final for my class. She just graded your outline for the essay you would've wrote. Overall good teacher. Not recommended for slackers.
She is an amazing professor. I've had her for multiple classes and I just adore her. the way she teaches the class and rules the classroom makes me feel like I'm in college and not in high school. Take great notes, do the reading, and wambam you do well. Love her!
This teacher is an awesome teacher, she gives out extra credit opportunities, a lot too. She does everything in her power help you pass the class as long as you put in the effort. There is a lot of reading involved which she expects you to do. She teaches her subjects really well, thorough, in depth, and she makes the class interesting.
I LOVE HER!! She is one of the best professor I had so far. Very interesting class and I learn a lot from her. At first I thought she was one of those egocentric and strict teacher, but I couldn't be more wrong! Frickert is just awesome, the only negative thing about her is that she tend to run a bit late
Easy class as long as you read the textbook and study the terms she gives before the exam. I would also highlight or bookmark the terms in the text before hand to make studying easier. She is also pretty lenient on the essay during the exam so don't stress to much on writing as long as there is a structure and facts you should be good with a B or A
Frickert is great. She keeps the whole class interested and teaches with passion. She's very cute too. She helps students who are struggling. YEah, you gotta read, but this is college after all! Shes' way clear on expectations and you'll do well if you do what you're supposed to do- read and take good lecture notes. Exams are more lecture I'd say.
Great professor. Very engaging and highly passionate about history. The class is easy if you pay attention to lectures, which isn't hard because she makes the subject matter interesting. The books are interesting and an easy read as well. Favorite professor by far!
Love this professor! As an educator and a person, she is irristible. My favorite thing about her is that she gets the class to think about things from multiple points of view. I really enjoyed the lectures and discussions. She's very unbiased in the way she teaches. I now love history!
great teacher
It is not so easy! There are many reading assignments following the study guide. You will be stressful, but it helps. For the beginning, I hate history but Prof. Frickert will change your mind and now I love History. Take her class, you won't feel boring. Besides, you will get something out of the class. I guarantee!
This class was very interesting. At first it was boring, then I learned things that I didn't know before. Offers help and extra credit. Although there is a lot of reading, it will help you in quizzes and exams. Straight forward teacher. -JP
This professor was awesome. She is nice, helpful, and makes the class very interesting, but she also expects the students to do a lot of reading and writing. As long as you okay with classwork you will do well in her class. Great professor!
Prof Frickert is amazing. She's probably the most engaging professor I've ever had. She's really passionate about history and teaching. I looked forward to class every week! She can be strict and expects hard work, but shes so kind and relateable and offers help like rough drafts and outlines which is the nicest thing a teacher can do for you.
Even if you are not at all interested in history, I wasn't, take this class! Professor Frickert is amazing. Her lectures are always enthusiastic, well thought out, and crystal clear. This is an educator that is passionate about her field of study and inspires an unabashed culture of learning among her students. Considering changing my major now.
Frickert is one of my favorite professors! I'd definitely recommend taking her.
Frickert is one of the best professors i ever had. Her grading policy is fair and shes super nice. Show her that you care & she will gladly help you. Trust me, she is really really helpful. She knows her stuff! I definitely recommend this class, just make sure you do the readings. She provides study guides which is always a plus. She is great!
AWESOME professor. Friendly, clear instruction, fair grader - and she's HOT!.. but married. Darn. :/ HIGHLY recommend taking her!
Frickert is a good professor!! She is very willing to help but expects hard work. Really opens up your mind to other points of view. This class is all about concepts so you have to read to do well on tests. But even if you dont do well on them, there are plenty of other assignments to help get that A or B. Offers 4% of E.C. for your overall grade!
Keep up with the reading and you'll do fine. Do not fall behind or you risk doing bad on the exams. Make sure to use the study guides while reading, it makes things a whole lot easier to understand certain concepts. She's such a cool professor too.
Class was always fun and lively. Professor Fricket always encouraged us to ask questions and share our thoughts. You will have to work for the grade, but it's not unpleasant or overly hard.
Professor Frickert is one of of my favorite educators at Mt. SAC and just downright good people. She's really smart and her energy is contagious. A good class to take for anyone! Also the class material is extremely interesting and informative.
Originally I expected that she would be a nice and helpful professor. But, She doesn't help students and only wants to challenge them. I don't think it is good. One more thing, she always asks her students to complete her requirements based on her syllabus but she didn't complete everything.
Prof Frickert is rad. I've had her for multiple classes and she's prolly my favorite prof. She is organized, engaging and super funny. She expects you to think for yourself and put in the work but she offers a ton of outside help. Hard to get an A but impossible to fail unless you're an idiot. You will love history the way she teaches it.
Wonderful professor. Challenging, passionate, very friendly, and really cares about her students. She really wants her students to learn and succeed. Even if you're mildly interested in history you will pass the class. It is quite difficult not to.
Awesome professor. Your best bet is to keep up with the readings, speak up in class, and get the extra help she offers like the outlines.
Great professor, love her!! :) Tips: Do all the extra credit. Do whatever she recommends, like outlines to prep for the essay. Keep up with the readings. Don't miss class; she doesn't take attendance but goes over a lot in one class. Take good notes. Talk in class, she has discussion/participation grade. If you do all this, you'll get an easy A.
Amazing professor.
Professor Frickert designed a quality course for college students to study world history. We read three books and write essays. Professor Frickert makes sure we are aware of broad issues of world history. This is an interesting yet challenging course. A large amount of time is required. Profesor Frickert is more than happy to help you succeed.
Really challenging class. LOTS OF READING. You need three different books (also on reserve in the library, but seriously?). EXAMS ARE HUGE. Do outlines for them and do extra credit for every unit. Lots of participation activities so show up. And kind of difficult to take notes on her lectures due to lack of structure.
Very Hard to get an A but she makes you work for that A. Really makes you think and her Essays made half the class drop but it makes you a better student. I enjoyed her lectures and we had a class Potluck which was simply awesome.
Not the easiest class to get an A but she makes you work for that A. Really makes you think. Her Essay made half the class drop but it makes you a better student. She designed a quality course for college students to study world history. She makes sure we are aware of broad issues of world history. This is an interesting yet challenging course.
NOT clear in most of her lectures and all of the material is from the readings. Do the readings in order to pass the class.
She is an amazing professor, one of the best at MtSac. To my surprise it became the one class I actually looked forward to attending. I got so into the readings, I asked for her recommendations for more! Her lectures and course expectations are crystal clear and compeletely organized. This is real college class, so be prepared to do the work.
I LOVED this class! I can't believe how much I learned that I missed in high school. She is passionate about getting students involved and thinking about lots of issues and she explains things soooo clearly. Great class, I definitely plan to take another one!
Such an interesting class! You will never think of history the same again! She really knows her stuff! READ READ READ & participate! As long as you keep up with the reading you will do just fine! If you hate reading or are too busy to read this class is not for you. Reading is crucial in order to pass! She's a chill & funny teacher!
Great teacher, but you must do the reading. Really easy tests and quizzes. You can tell she really wants her students to learn and do well.
I'm a history major currently at USC. This class really helped to prepare me for my upper div classes, especially the essay with outlines. She is funny, very open to questions, and clearly loves what she does. She offers a ton of outside help and clearly puts a great deal into her courses. I recommend her classes to anyone, major or not.
She offers ample help, so it seems pretty hard to do poorly in this class. Yet to see her not exuding enthusiasm or passion during class, which has a way of making one feel terrible when students don't respond in kind. That being said, she offers too much extra credit, and I found it easy to stop applying myself, as the class was easy to begin with.
Class was kind of a mess and disorganized. Class was canceled several times during the semester, which was a setback. Text book use is extremely high, and you can't slack off on it. She requires a lot of work and dedication. Miss even one class, and you miss a lot. She's a good teacher, but not great.
She is very passionate about History. She talks a lot and pretty fast so if your good at taking quick notes great, if not record her. The books are mandatory you will using them a lot for work. She is always willing to help!Great teacher
By far one the best history class I've ever taken! She doesn't teach the boring over taught version of history we get all through high school and uses a wide variety of documents to let you understand what was really happening at the time. She comes off mean the first few days but is actually really nice after the first week or two.
She is very good and very helpful, yet very difficult because of her essay. She is a very good professor and you will leave her class a lot smarter than before you walked into it. She is hard but fair. I would take her class again just because I want to learn more in depth of specific points in US History.
Tons of extra credit opportunities that will allow a student to bring their grade up. Very fun class, and Professor Frickert is very passionate about her history. You will learn a lot, like any UC level course their is reading but do the assigned work and you will get an A. Class is not mandatory, but those that want A's will show up anyway.
AMAZING professor, but if you are in search of an easy A or an easy class then this isn't going to be a good fit for you. If you study and do the required reading you will do okay on the tests. You really have to study to get the A, but doing the extra credit can make up for the difficulty of the tests.
She's really great, if you hated history in high school, she'll change your mind about it because she digs out the good stuff that most of us probably have never even learned or heard of. She wants you to learn. She is very helpful and sweet. Quizzes are easy if you read, tests are not that bad if you actually read the material she tells you to.
Overall, a wonderful and straight-to-it professor who has her expectations laid out for day one of the course. Listen closely and carefully to her lectures because tests rely on it. Textbook reading is extremely relied on too! Read heavily, listen carefully and take advantage of the heavy extra credit! EXTRA CREDIT is plentiful & is a grade changer
If you want an A, you better work for it. You need two textbooks & yes, you need to read them front to back. You have to take notes, even though she does kind of teach fast. Doesn't tolerate people sleeping on their phones. Midterm & final are 70 multiple choice q's or 50 multiple q's & an essay. DO THE ESSAY & E.C It'll save your grade!
I took her twice. The first time I did not pass because I did not do my paper. Make sure to do the paper on King Leopold's Ghost! She is very smart and knows the answer to any question you may have. She is also pretty patient. There is a lot to learn from this class. I don't think I've ever enjoyed history this much.
She's passionate about Asian history and culture. She loves it when students are passionate as well. The grade you want requires high attendance, writing well on essays, & studying for tests. She's very approachable and kind. Watch out for that infectious smile. In my class was a 9 to 1 male to female ratio. She offers unique extra credit options.
Shes a very good professor and she will help you any way she can as long as you put the effort. Her readings and essays are tough, if you struggle, she is there to help guide you, NOT do it for you. Do NOT miss her class because it can set you back when you are having trouble with the readings. She is very easy to talk to and polite.
She is a very difficult professor to understand. She jumps from one topic to another. She is really full of knowledge and passionate about her job but it's confusing on what course material will be on the exams. The lectures are so long and at times could be tedious.
Super clear in expectations, detailed reading and exam study guides. Very kind, offers lots of help. For most, exams will be easy if you show up to class and do the readings. She has a real knack for explaining things clearly and tying everything together, she knows her stuff. This is a big picture class and you will leave it a lot smarter.
She's amazing and fun! Walked in hating history, came out loving it. The reading is quite intensive (especially during Winter). Does not upload notes so attending class is crucial. Keep up with the reading and you'll do fine for she offers A LOT of help and extra cred. Be expected to engage in daily comfortable, free speech class discussions
This class is too much. LOTS OF READING. You need three books. Don't skip class or you will be lost. She doesn't give any handouts, you always have to print your own study guides, etc. Lectures are all over the place. Also you're reading in three different books so you're gonna be all over the place. over all, very confusing and just too much.
Super helpful, easy grader, appreciates your attendance, and friendly. Must read, lectures and tests come straight from the books, but the books are quite easy to understand. Participation will boost your grade. Do NOT use your phones, its like her one and only rule. Books do not have to be brought to class. Overall, great class, and easy A
This professor is by far one of the best professors I've encountered. She really cares for her students and will help all her students pass. She does provide extra credit and requires a book. If you pay attention and read the book you'll be good in her class. I would definitely take her again!
Not that bad work wise. There's a good amount of assigned reading but I didn't do any of it. When Broken Glass Floats the one reading you have to do. Otherwise just pay attention in class and you should pass. Practically take home final. She herself is pretty cool.
This was her first semester teaching Hist 3. I hate history but because of her, I've grown to love it! You do need the textbook and HAVE read if you want to pass. Participation is crucial. Attendance counts towards it. She grades really fair. Detailed study guides. She knows a lot so you can't fool her. Exams and quizzes are from readings.
By far one of my favorite teachers. Shes is energetic. Makes History interesting. I will definitely recommend. Theres a lot of reading tho. I kinda fell behind and didn't read too much, but lectures make the class possible to pass. participation is required, but I only spoke once and still passed. Tips make sure to keep up with reading.
Prof. Frickert has a great personality. She tries to get students to like History. Note that she can go off topic. For all u shy students participation points are big so ask questions and talk in group sessions. Take important notes from the textbook since the chapters are really long. Take advantage of the extra credit she offers it's pretty easy.
Personally She's a great person and she knows her stuff, however I find her teaching methods to not suit me. She goes off on tangents (and tangents on tangents) and her power points are bare bones. Because she goes on tangents it becomes confusing what is actually necessary for the class and what is just her love of history. Read the textbook.
In my opinion she hardly ever goes on tangents! Maybe some students are used to HS so they expect the full lecture on the board. she gives amazing energetic lectures and covers the scheduled topics fully but not overly, and gives you enough on the PP or board to help you stay on track. She gives verbal cues and study guides. Favorite professor!!
She is funny
Taken Spring 2017: She is nice & supportive. Has lecture based notes (uses ppt/board as visual purposes) Has 4-5 quizzes (may be pop quiz), 2 tests, final test (tests are either multiple choice/essays or only mc) 3 corporation documents (essay style, based in documents/videos) PARTICIPATION MATTERS! E.C. given (many opportunities)Hist1 not like HS!
My favorite professor, have taken three of her classes. Shes organized, clear, and knows her stuff. She's funny, although this class Modern Asia, tends to be kinda depressing at times. She will definitely make you think deeply, not just a bunch of facts. Mixes it up with class formats which helps alot. Use her study guides, those are key.
Excellent professor. Easily one of the best I have had at Mt. Sac. She structures the class very well, and covers events in detail. Very willing and able to answer questions. There is quite a bit of reading, but if you take the time and actually do it, you will have issues passing this class. Seriously, read the books...
Professor Frickert makes history interesting. She's witty, sarcastic, and very structured. I particularly enjoy that she follows the syllabus religiously and her expectations are very clear. This class requires a lot of homework time, but you definitely learn the material.
Easy class, easy subject, easy on the eyes. It doesnt get better than this for a history class. I felt bad for the people that struggled. If you ever payed half attention to history class in high school you should be fine. If not just read the book pay attention in lecture. She made the class easy Im astonished by how many people dropped.
Absolutely the best professor Ive ever had! She doesnt sugar coat anything and delivers her lectures with a lot of wit. She follows the syllabus religiously and offers a lot of extra credit. She really cares about her students and their understanding of the material. Attendance matters and in class assigments are worth big points.
She is a nice professor, lectures are interesting& funny would highly recommend taking notes, she does go a bit fast during lectures. Homework is reading , there is alot of it seriously do the readings, they will be discussed and on the reading quizzes. She gives study guides for quizzes & exams. Study guides can be used on quizzes but not exams.
I usually get bored in history, but her lectures and discussions are really interesting. She's seems pretty strict about using information from the internet so you actually gotta read. Even though attendance is technically optional, skipping class is going to seriously affect your grade
Prof. Frickert truly cares about history and gives great lectures. This class(like any other history class) requires a lot of reading and studying. She provides study guides that are based off of the readings, which are very helpful for quizzes and exams. She also offers extra credit opportunities. Great Professor, but get ready to work!
took the beautiful Frickert during Winter. Fast pace. Required reading. but manageable. Live off the study guides, do every extra credit opportunity, participate in class for extra points, and do the essay option for the tests and you'll pass with an A guaranteed.
A solid history professor. She is very straightfoward about what to expect t on the exams (a mixture of info from lecture and readings). For exams, you will be given two options: all multiple choice, or multiple choice and an essay (outline must be prepared prior to exam date and used during) DO THE ESSAY!! Your grade will benefit. And DO ALL E.C!
If you want to learn uncensored and honest US history, take this class. Youll learn more than the 12 yrs of education you received. She is very intelligent and passionate and it really transfers to the students. I hated history but she really turned the table for me. Shes probably one of the best professors I had at Mt. Sac. Please take this clas
If you dont like history or pushed this class, please take it with Professor Frickert. There are required reading for this class, like any other history classes would be. However, she keeps it 100% real and doesnt sugarcoat anything. Shell give you the most accurate and honest info of the history & racial discriminations. Itll change your mind.
While she's great for US History, her real forte is Asian History and it really shows by how passionate she is during lecture. Answer questions from the reading study guide she provides since it will help study for the mid-term and final exams. Quizzes are open notes so using the reading study guide helps. She provides extra credit.
Easy C, although you'll have to work for the A. Almost homework except the readings. She gives a detailed study guide and if you actually fill it out, you'll ace the class. She's organized, energetic, funny andfollows the syllabus. Offers alot of help although i didn't need it. Lectures are interesting and she'll convince you not to hate history
Professor Frickert is absolutely amazing! I loved every minute of her class! Attendance is not mandatory, but I highly recomend that you attend every lecture if you want an A. She's very flexible with in class projects and gives an abundance of extra credit opportunities. Just keep up with the readings and study guides and you'll be gold. :)
I cannot say enough amazing things about Professor Frickert. She is caring, understanding, interesting, and really makes sure that the class understands the material. Her goal is to make you love the subject and she truly succeeds. You will love going to her class, trust! As for grading, as long as you study and read the material you'll be fine!
I think Mrs. Frickert is a good professor. She has a pleasant energy and is very knowledgeable. However, she assigns a TON of homework (a lot of reading). I personally could not keep up with all of it. She gives extra credit that you will additionally have to WORK for. Lectures are collaborative so be prepared to participate.
My first review because I absolutely loved her class. Attendance is not mandatory, but personally I would not miss a single class because she teaches with lectures. They are very enjoyable to listen to as she has a lot of knowledge & enthusiasm for the topic. No homework but study guides will help you towards an A. Go to class and do study guides.
she is not great
One of the best professors Ive ever had she is very understanding and knows that youre not just taking her class she makes herself available outside of class and attendance is not mandatory but she teaches by lectures so its better not to skip class but she is a very caring and amazing professor definitely worth taking
yeah! there are many reading assignment, however, it is totally nothing. She just wants to you to know that being a history professor like her is awesome.
Tip: read the text and answer study guides (will directly be on quiz/exams). Understand concepts! She will not make you memorize dates, but the significance of concepts, historical events, peoples, etc. Her lectures furthered my passion for history, as she is one of the few professors who "de-colonize" our Eurocentric learning of history.
Easily one of the best profs at Mt Sac. Funny, engaging and organized. Provides everything you need upfront on Canvas. Attendance isn't mandatory, but her lectures help alot. Follows her syllabus, gives clear instructions. Will help you if you need it. No homework except reading and notes. Use the study guides. EZPZ
She's a great teacher, very inspirational, gives you lots of extra credit opportunities. I took this class during winter semester, which I recommend, there was a lot of reading but no essays required. As long as you show up , do the readings, and listen you're good. books are required.
She's amazing with her contents in class, great lectures, interesting videos! She gives out a lot of extra credit opportunities for her students to do better in class. A lot of readings but fret not, cause she will cover some of them in lecture. All quizzes are open book, and lastly she's nice, understanding and pretty!
Professor Frickert makes you work for your grade, but she definitely sets her students up for success. She lets you use notes on the quizzes and is always willing to review study before exams, and also offers alternatives for the exams. Professor Frickert is also very generous to those who show up every day and participate in lectures by giving ec.
Its really true that Frickert makes it as easy as possible. No essay, information from lecture transfers easily to quizzes/exams, lively environment. The only problem is that there are a ton of reading required to pass this class. No procrastinating and taking notes will get you that A
Her lectures are all over the place so its really hard to take good notes since she jumps around a lot. There is ALOT of reading & you have to take a lot of notes outside the class so you basically have to teach yourself and in class she just goes off. Dont take this class of you have a lot on your plate. Shes very sarcastic & makes you feel dumb
I changed my major while taking this class! Frickert is one of the best. Ya there's reading, but basically average amount, plus she gives detailed study guides. Essays are optional but will help your grade if you meet with her She's super passionate and lively and her lectures are really helpful. Easy A if you're not lazy.
Professor Frickert is up there with some of the best professors I have had. Everything is pretty clearly laid out in her syllabus and if you need help with anything that is not in there she will gladly help you out. The lectures are great! Read the textbook, participate in class, take the tests and pass the class. Can't get any easier than that.
I guess what bothered me the most about this class is that she says she's gone paperless, but then doesn't allow electronics in the classroom. Essentially meaning that SHE is paperless, but as students we do not have the option to follow, as we must print everything at home. She will actually kick you out of class for checking the time your phone.
I enjoyed her lectures. If you ask her a question, it is likely she will be condescending. She gives a heavy load of study guide questions that must be turned in. The textbook she uses isn't a good read. On the multiple choice exams, the answers can be multiple. So you really have to know the material.
Literally the best professor. She goes into deep detail on how she wants things done so pls just read the syllabus. Notes can be a little hectic but the lecture is easy to follow so it's not a big deal. Very minimal group activities and it's optional, she makes a solo version of each assignment. People don't get her jokes but HIGHLY recommended.
Took her online Winter. Good amount of work, all quizzes and discussions, if you're disciplined you'll do fine its really organized with study guides. Shes more interactive and helpful than other online professors I've had. You can tell she really cares and shes responsive. No textbook, she created all the reading and lecture. Funny & eye opening.
one of the best i've ever had!! She knows abut her field so well and her class is full of fun! lots of extra credits and trust me, you will learn so much !! not hard to get A at all, show up, do your work, you'll ace it.
Professor Frickert is going to be that one professor that I never forget. Although at times I did zone out here and there in the class, I learned more about history in this class than I have throughout my entire time in the education system. Would most definitely take a class with her again.
Professor Frickert was amazing. She accommodated to students during the pandemic and the events that were happening in between. There are some mini essays and occasional discussion boards and quizzes every week. Her module is very easy to follow and it was a great class to take online for the first time.
Especially during COVID-19, Prof Frickert was such a gem!! Super understanding/accommodating. Very clear with grading, instruction, due dates, etc. Weekly quizzes, no exams or final! Offers extra credit. Occasional (optional) zoom. Discussion posts are a lil more difficult, but allows you to submit earlier for feedback + you can resubmit!
Second time taking one of her classes, this time during COVID. Highly recommend. No midterms or final, weekly quiz for weeks worth of work. Random discussion boards which needs lots of detail but not hard since she provides lots of resources. Lectures are great and she makes things fun, very understanding and sweet, great history memes.
she's terrible honestly. I would not recommend taking her. She's rude and goes on tangents that don't even relate to the material.
Couldn't have asked for a better professor during Covid. Super organized clear expectations. Lectures are hihgly focused and she adds memes for comic relief. very kind and understanding. Super responsive to email and offers so much help and feedback to anyone who needs it. Relief to not have exams, weekly quizzes! Easily the best prof I have had.
I didnt like this prof at first but she grew on me & now Im taking her for HIST 4. Quizzes (50% of grade) are challenging & arent on quizlet which forces you to actually learn the material. If you follow the discussion prompts & give meaningful responses, she gives extra points. Free textbook & no final. Very beneficial class - I learned a lot
She was extremely considerate. There are no tests or cumulative quizzes. There are weekly quizzes, but all of the quiz questions are posted on the study guide ahead of time. She gives many opportunities for extra credit, is funny, and is very passionate. Her teaching style allowed for an easy A, but also I felt like I actually learned the material.
Incredibly nice and does offer a lot of extra credit. However insane amount of work that tends to be complicated . Does offer two chances on quizzes however what you review is not on the quiz. I appreciate her being sweet but would not take again.
If you're taking her on a rushed semester it going to get tough especially if you don't like history but personally It was a pleasure taking her class and hopefully if you see past the work it was somewhat enjoyable.
Professor Frickert is a great professor and always willing to help. But this class was a bit challenging. Weekly quizzes, h.w, lots of reading. She does offer extra credit which is a good thing but will only boost a bit of your grade. The quizzes are the ones that the matter the most so if your up for a challenge take her class other wise dont.
Professor Frickert is a G bro. Super positive and always willing to bring your grade up. If all of my Professors were Frickert, I'd be fine with it. Great teacher, probably fun at parties too.
Great professor who is willing to help you out. She offers tons of extra credit that really helps out in the end. I went from a C to B due to extra credit. She revises your essays and offers ways to improvement. Overall, great history professor.
Professor Frickert is amazing! I used to hate history, but I now have a newfound interest in history after being in her class. Her class is very organized and has a consistent structure for the assignments. I took this class in the Winter, so it was pretty fast paced. If you take it during intersession, be ready to read about 3 chapters per week.
Easy curriculum to understand! She will pysch you out in the beginning on purpose! After that the class gets easier to do. It is a lot of reading but the quizzes each week are the exact same words on the study guides she gives out! Be vocal on the dicussions, and make them funny and she will give you extra points! Fun class!
Professor Frickert was seriously AMAZING, I learned so much from this class. She makes History fun and interesting. Offers extra credit, 2 attempts on quizzes (open notes), and really helps her students pass. Lots of reading but her sense of humor really lightens the load. Turn in assignments early for feedback, and resubmit for a better grade!
Such a kind woman and is always there to help. She loves what she does and it definitely shows in her teaching. Easy A if you follow her rubric for Mini Essays, reflect a lot on discussions, and complete her study guides on your own before quizzes. Lots of reading but the class is extremely organized and clear to understand.
Professor Frickert is one of THEE best History teachers I've ever had. I just finished my Fall intersession & took her new HIST 9 class. There is A LOT of reading involved so it's best if you get a head start. She makes the class extremely comfortable for students (ex. memes). You can tell she really has a passion for this subject & I admire that.
Funny, organized, communicative, flexible with turning work/tests late. Clear grading system, open book exams, complete study guide guaranteed A. If it's the 8-week online course do NOT take more than 1 other class, be ready to do triple the amount of work due to the shorter span of time, that's a condensed course for you.
Lots of reading for the class. Tons of extra credit and grading is lenient with chances to earn over 100% on assignments. The class can be challenging, but the professor makes it easy to get an A.
I love Professor Frickert. Her online class is really organized and sends reminders on what's due on Canvas. She also reads each and every discussion reply and gives amazing feedback on the discussion posts/mini essays. Overall a super caring person and amazing professor, definitely take her class.
She's probably my most favorite professor I've ever had in college. She's so passionate about teaching Asian history and it's shown in her lectures. Lots of reading and writing but it's all pretty interesting and she offers a lot of extra credit! Would take her again if I had the opportunity to.
Amazing professor, interacts with the class often in a very friendly manner and provides meaningful feedback on most assignments. As long as you do a discussion post and a quiz a week (and a mini-essay once in a while) you will get an A. Take her class
Take her class!!! Even if you don't like history, she makes the grading assignments really simple. Typically there's a weekly discussion post and a weekly quiz (you get two chances and if you do the Learning Objectives you'll be fine). No cumulative final and lowest-scored items are dropped. She's an awesome professor, take her class!
BEST professor ever. I had a B because I didn't get to turn in some assignments since I had a lot going on this semester. I would have easily gotten an A otherwise. She is very committed to students success and takes time to encourage and uplift students who might be behind.
Professor Frickert is amazing. She will always quickly reply to inquiries and sometimes send you voice messages to break the ice of an online environment. She had fantastic feedback on assignments and had clear instructions for all assignments. She wants all students to succeed, so I highly recommend her to anyone planning to take history.
I took this as a 6-week honors course, so there was a ton of work, but manageable. Prof. Frickert was very helpful, attentive, & did voice feedback which felt productive and personal. Mini essays (1-4 paragraphs or Q&A's) weekly with quiz, but all answers are in her PowerPoints and lectures. I 100% recommend her, but I suggest for full term.
such a great professor! mini essays are the most time consuming and the major part of your grade, she allows you to submit it 2 days early and will grade it. you can then make edits that she mentions and receive a higher grade. she wants everyone to pass!! discussions are easy points so DO NOT SKIP. she also drops the lowest mini essay and quiz :)
She is a very fair grader, with straight forward rubric, but the sheer amount of reading/watching that goes into this class is almost worse than being at work. if you don't care for history. that being said I still think shes the best Hist teacher at Mt Sac. do not take in summer.way too compacted for the amount of lecture/work.
Professor Frickert is amazing - she's super helpful and wants everyone to succeed. The workload is manageable, and the mini essays are a breeze with her feedback. I also found unstuck AI really useful for quiz prep. Definitely recommend this class!
Amazing teacher, there were great discussions. She knows a lot about other cultures and she dug into them. Her quizzes are easy if you study enough and fill out her guidelines before each modules are unlocked. Shouldn't be hard to reach a B if you put in the work to do it.
Really good professor. Instructions are incredibly clear for her online courses. She is very understanding and communicative. Her lectures are consistently funny, engaging, and concise.
She is nice, understanding, funny, and has fun lectures. There are a lot of opportunities for extra credit. I personally don't think she graded harshly and as long as you followed the guidelines for assignments, you would get a good grade. Attendance was not necessary as she posted everything online but there were benefits to attending class.
Professor Frickert really cares about her students and gives everyone multiple opportunities to succeed in her class, very easy A. Offers so much extra credit throughout the semester. Lectures are interesting and provides answers for the weekly quiz. I took 13 credits when taking this class and found the workload to be manageable.
I took Hist3 Honors and Professor Frickert was amazing. She provides a lot of extra credit opportunities and is very understanding. She writes very fun and interactive lectures (granted there is a lot of reading but it is so worth it) and the discussions are fun. She is a professor that you can tell loves their job and helping her students.
Although there's some stuff that you have to read and write, professor Frickert still tries her best to make the course easier for us. She also gave many extra credits as long as you do extra. I'll definitely take her class again!
There is a lot of reading to answer the discussions every week. There are also mini-essay discussions that take hours to complete because you need to read from more sources and follow all the criteria from the rubric. She does offer a lot of extra credit, but there is a lot of work involved in this class, which makes me not want to do more.
The BEST professor I have ever had. Truly cares about her students success and she shows it. Taken 3 classes with her now I have never met another professor with such dedication. Makes the class fun and engaging while teaching important topics. Will give useful feedback on homework. I owe a lot of my success to her.
Highly recommend taking Professor Frickert for history. She's a very clear communicator, the lessons are nicely organized, and the grading criteria are clear. She gives many chances to boost your grade with an plethora of extra credit opportunities. Also, she gives great feedback, and many, many second chances. Learned a lot.
Really straightforward class, and there are so many opportunities to improve your grade-- like seriously, I had a hard time adjusting to this course because of how open it is to improving your grade. There's a lot in the lectures sometimes and other work, but because it's consistent, it doesn't feel that bad, and honestly, you get used to it.
This class was overall pretty interesting and had a manageable workload. There was a LOT of reading, but the discussion posts were very straightforward. She gives a lot of extra credit opportunities and constructive feedback which is good, however the essay instructions and rubrics were very confusing to navigate and she can dock a lot of points.
Specific rubrics for mini essays so you know what to do Also complete early get feedback and then be regraded so it's very easy to earn an A. Lectures were much more interesting than O thought and she's funny and engaging. he checks in alot and has a flexible late policy and dropped low scores which I find very modern and also is a life saver.
She's great online and in-person, both honors (11H). I love the in person lectures and props she brings and seeing her enthusiasm. Doesn't require attendance, no tests, open note weekly quizzes. Everything is online and attendance isn't required but I went anyway because I loved the class so much. You can qualify for group work instead of essays.
