Any time you ask her a question, she talks to you like you are completely useless. She has ridiculously high expectations of papers and will take off WAY too many points for one thing being incorrect. Also, she is a stickler for spelling, punctuation, and grammar, even though hers was terrible. Avoid taking her classes if you can.
Shows very little interest in preparing for class consistently reading from the slides and finding errors on previous years questions. Consistently shows up 10-15 min late for class (Keeps you late). Blames department for testing method (Blue Book Essay) and takes at least 2.5 weeks to return a graded exam. Unprofessional, avoid like the plague.
Her test come start off of myaccountinglab. Do the study plan and you will get an A! Her homework is only 10 questions and their easy as well.DO THE STUDY PLAN! I made all A's on the exams & NEVER opened the book it doesn't help you need interactive practice. She also creates the final for the whole department & tells us whats on the final!!!
It's accounting, so it isn't going to be easy. However she does make it somewhat easier to understand by explaining the material in ways that relate to us students. If you print out the slides from Blackboard, then you really don't need to buy the textbook. She is very helpful and wants her students to succeed. Hard to get a B, but a C is possible.
Her class is not easy but it will definitely help you. If you want to learn something, this is the class you should attend! She is very competitive and she wants her students to be successful! She also teaches you some skills that can benefit you in future career! It took her a while to return assignments but that's b/c she puts effort grading them!
She is not helpful and cares less about the class than her reputation as an accountant. Honestly this is an introduction to accounting not a class full of CPAs. Around 30% of the class has already dropped the course.
She is AWFUL! Rude in responding to emails.Tells you things in class that won't pertain to the test but when you ask about them later she tells you she doesn't know&to ask a classmate. Only half way decent thing about her is that she takes her tests from the study plan on MAL. So if you do the 200 questions from that you will see a few on the test.
DO THE "Practice and Review" problems ON MAL (Only multiple choice ones though)! She is very nice and wants her students to do well. She is a little confusing sometimes when teaching but overall will help you with anything. She gives large point curves and test are multiple choice.
She is very nice and funny, but by far one of the worst teachers I have had yet. She rarely explains herself and uses too many abbreviations. When the time comes to review for a test you feel completely unprepared. She jumps from subject to subject. This class can be really hard and confusing by itself, so do yourself a favor, get a good teacher.
Worst teacher I've ever had. She is so useless when you ask her a question, she'll answer around your question & leave you even more confused than before. The only way to actually pass this class is constantly doing the practice problems on MAL before the exam or getting previous semesters exams of HERS And studying off of that. TAKE ELROD OR BING!
Hard class. If you do your homework and do the practice problems you should be able to manage an A. If you can get her tests from prior years then you're golden. Having prior tests help you know what to expect. If you can't acquire prior exams then do tons of quizzes from the end of the chapter. If you are lazy take a different teacher.
I started out making a 64 on the first test and worked by butt off. I ended up making a B (which is pretty good for financial accounting). The professor is awesome and makes the class interesting. Just remember: regardless of your professor, you will HAVE to work very hard. You rock Mrs. McLeod!
When your professor tells you on the first day of class that 45% of the class drops or fails, I find that to be discouraging. She goes over her entire PPT during class, works a few problems out and continues to the next PPT. We have different views on what a "review" is. She blurts out areas to focus on and that's it. TAKE SOMEONE ELSE!!!!
Not an Easy class, but good grade is possible but takes a lot of work, Takes attendance every class.
Material is complex, but if you read the book and attend the lectures; you'll do fine. Homework is easy, it's on MML. Tests are nothing like homework so the online reveiews don't really help. She doesn't really do well "reviewing" for tests. It's all kind of jumbled. An A is achievable, through hard work.
Study, study, study for the tests. The homework average counts for a test grade, so DO YOUR HOMEWORK! She really isn't a bad teacher, and she really cares about our well-being. Back to the tests, they are very specific. Show her you care, and she will help you with a boost at the end if you need it. Do your homework on MAL!
Great teacher. She does a great job of explaining the subject material in different ways, so you can understand it. It will be hard though, so get ready to study hard. It is accounting, so if you expect it to be easy just get a different major.
Thinks accounting should be everyone's life and treats it as such no room with her for errors and doesn't seem to care if you pass or fail. Her go to is go to the help center vs her helping you.
Don't expect to pass this class unless you're an accounting major. Also, be prepared to teach yourself each concept PRIOR to attending class. This professor expects you to read the chapters before coming to class.
Worst teacher I have had in my entire educational path. I was a straight A student for two years before I ran into her. Absolutely horrible teacher who does not care about education one bit. She's there for a paycheck. If you think this is a supportive teacher, you are horribly mistaken.
If you can, avoid this class. I was a straight A/B student for forever, and when i got into this class, I could barely keep up. Lectures are VERY unclear and hard to follow. Tests are nearly impossible, and homework is forever long. This class takes TOO much of your time. I don't recommend this professor!!! Take accounting at a community college.
Accounting in general isn't an easy course, but Prof. Mcleod doesn't make it any easier. She's really nice and does want you to do well, but she doesnt cut you any slack. -Loads of online Hmwk. (that doesn't help. Very different from the Exams) -5 Exams. 1 Comprehensive Final -No dropped Grades -No Extra Credit
The things she teachers in class are different than the homework given. The things she teaches in class, along with the homework given, is different than the exam. Not only in format, but also in concept. She will not help you, nor will she review the exam with the class.
Think you're going to have a Thanksgiving break? Think again. She gives 5 exams, none are dropped, plus a departmental exam. The very last exam she gives is on the first day of class after a week long Thanksgiving break. I honestly believe she is trying to intentionally fail students at this point. Expect no help. Expect a lot of homework.
Accounting is hard for anyone, but she is a good professor. I had to ask for help many times but she was always happy to explain things again. She writes all over the board in a crazy way which is hard for note taking. Make sure you do the homework and the Cycle project. Study as hard as you can, the tests are tough.
Learned more from her on the first day of class than last semester with Da Wu I didn't pass a single test last semester and because of her I just made a 90% on the first test writes important things on board for easy notes gives out candy to those who participate in her examples accounting isn't easy but she does a great job
Her lectures are long and boring but it is Accounting so that should be expected. The test are tough, and the homework takes awhile, but if you put in the time and effort the work load is manageable and you should be able to make an A.
I would highly recommend. Class lectures are long, but she gives very helpful examples that will aid your success on the tests. Easy to follow in class and is willing to help outside of class. Very nice and truly wants her students to succeed. Take her if you are an accounting major b/c you will learn the material which you need in ACCT 3110.
This is a VERY difficult class. You must go to class, read chapters, study, etc. You cannot just expect it to be okay without copious amounts of studying. She will help but HW doesn't help for exams. Exams are SO SPECIFIC. You get off by one number it can mess an entire problem up and you will fail. If you must take it, study 3 hours a day.
Tests are ridiculously hard, they are done in the testing center and you have to enter numeric answers (not multiple choice), and no partial credit. Has not curved. Group project worth exam grade and no class time to work on it, even if assigned group members all have different work/class schedules. Teacher is uncaring and unapologetic.
This professor expects every student to be CPA ready upon passing this class. What she doesn't realize is that not every student in her class is an accounting major or wishes to be a CPA. Most to all of the students failed the first two tests with averages in the 30-40 range and she doesn't curve. Don't expect her to have sympathy either.
This is an extremely tough course. You have to read, do LearnSmart, connect, do practice problems, and attend class. I wouldn't advise anyone to take this class unless they have plenty of time. She makes it almost impossible to pass doesn't curve, tells unrelated stores, and exams are impossible to pass! Take Lightner!
I absolutely loved this class and this professor. There is, most definitely, alot of material to cover in one semester, but Prof. McLeod does an awesome job in presenting and explaining the topics. Her lectures are very easy to follow (I never felt lost) and enhanced by her enthusiasm and past career experiences.
I DO NOT RECOMMEND MCLEOD I felt like the exams were impossible to pass a lot of students including me tried talking to her about how we felt the exams were difficult and her famous quote "you guys are seniors" very dismissive and condescending at times I felt like she did not want to take accountability on why 80% of her students failed exams
Her lectures were easy to understand, and she would give a lot of examples to make sure you understood the topics. It is a tough class, but it's still manageable to get an A if you actually put in the work. There are 5 tests and none are dropped. There is also no extra credit. You get the grade you earn. If you read the book you'll be fine.
This class is not easy since its accounting but if you pay attention you will certainly pass. Many people complain that she mentions how many people will fail, but that is the reality because not everyone can understand accounting. I think she teaches very well, and her stories are quite interesting. However, there are more than 5 exams
Having taken this course with McLeod, I was so much better prepared when I had to take accounting again at Columbia, where the professor for the class skipped many concepts and details. Professor McLeod teaches very clearly and cares about her students. Its more work than other courses at UNT, but its worth it.
When it comes to Accoutning it is a struggle for me. This isnt my first time taking ACCT2010 and let me tell you she is the best professor by far. She writes many examples on the board aside from slides, makes sure every students understands it before moving forward. Ive never met a teacher that cares so much for her students. Office hours helps
McLeod is a really cool professor and genuinely cares about you as a person. You only really need the textbook for the case studies. Everything she tests on comes from the lectures. She's a really tough grader, and wants you to fully expand on your thoughts. The worst thing about this class were the length requirements for all of the papers.
Homework system isn't connected to Canvas, so it's tough to keep up and not miss any assignments. She knows her stuff and likes what she does, hard grader and high expectations, though
Overall, Professor McLeod was a good professor who knew her stuff. However, her overall handling of the course wasn't the best. The homework is a pain to do; her lectures are good, and she uses a lot of real-life examples, but often the assigned homework will cover topics that were never mentioned in class, only in the book. Decent, but very hard.
Financial Accounting is definitely one of the harder Pre-Business classes, but Professor McLeod made a world difference. I loved her teaching style of going through the book or Pearson notes, doing practice problems, and explaining everything piece by piece. Lectures can feel long at times, but she's very logical, yet friendly when explaining.
Super efficient in lecture. Always straight to the point, and shares many real world applications. Will show you how to do basic problems step-by-step. Pretty much lectures everything in the text, and will let you know if she didn't have time to go over it in class so you can read it. Kinda aggressive when she speaks, but she wants you to succeed.
Professor McLeod is the best of the worst. All the professors for ACCT 2010 at UNT are "adequate", at best. McLeod makes the most of class time, and gives quizzes every class period (for participation/attendance). If you can, I highly recommend taking her. This class is not easy - study the Pearson MyPlan before the tests and you will be fine
Prof. McLeod is a GOOD professor. She makes the most of class time, and points out what is important for the test. Do the Quick Checks for each chapter. They are VERY helpful for the tests. You can make an A in this class, but you do have to work hard for it. It's the same for any professor that teaches ACCT 2010 here, but McLeod teaches it well.
This class is terrifying. I have zero experience with research and I do not exaggerate when I have wasted 40+ hours in fruitless reading and researching. If you can join the graduate course in the spring, rather than the fall, you will have a research class before jumping into international tax. Paper heavy, quizzes weekly, and interesting lectures
Changed my major to accounting after taking this professor. SI sessions help, they are the reason I made an A in the course. Teacher engages students during lecture with interesting and funny anecdotes, but sometimes gets too off topic. Comes off as harsh, but wants to help you pass. If accounting is difficult for you, ask questions + go to SI.
Two words STUDY PLAN. The test is questions pulled from study plan!! you HAVE to buy the access code $90-$110, there are 2 hw's due each week (takes a total of 2 hrs to do). literally if you know how to do journal entries, t-accounts, the study plan, and know the math behind all of it and vocab you will pass with a C+ Prof. gave us 1% extra cred-_-
I had Professor McLeod in Fall 2019. She is an amazing professor for accounting and very well qualified. If you dont understand it she is very good at explaining questions. The thing I loved about having her class is that she used her own personal examples to make a subject as hard as accounting make sense and is very organized with her class.
Professor McLeod is an amazing professor. She does a really good job of relating the material to real life, and is always willing to help us if we have any questions. The class structure is the same across the department, and it's really easy to follow; although, it is a difficult course. Reading the textbook is a must.
Professor McLeod is my favorite teacher, and I literally changed my major because of her! She gives helpful real-world examples and is very funny. Make sure to read the textbook before class because it will be easier to absorb any new information presented during the lecture. The class is an easy A if you put effort into it.
If I could have her for every ACCT class ever, I would major in Accounting! SI Team are super helpful for extra help. must work hard for A. She gave your frequent reminders on upcoming quiz/tests. Loves to see effort & makes note of it. I sat front row and participated in class often. If she likes you and you are between B and A, she'll bump you^
entered this class with high expectations for myself and left the class with depression. The professor was mildly passive aggressive and treated her class like a nascar race, as in rushing through the course material not letting your brain process the information.
Don't take Professor Mcleod, she seems like a great person, but God her teaching was difficult to understand. Like others have stated, she rushes through a lot of the lectures and misses the important stuff. Use "My Study Plan," in Pearson to study for tests! Most questions are based off of them.
She's the hardest & cold professor I have ever taken at UNT. She wastes half of the class time telling non-necessary stories. Thus, she skips slides and rushes through the material in the remaining time. Quizzes are taken on lockdown browser, you get 20 minutes to solve 8 questions(98% numeric). No extra credit opportunity. Do not register Mcleod.
It's not an easy class. On top of that, her teaching style doesn't fit this course. She rushes though PP slides and often skip important stuff. Quizzes are on lockdown browser with 20 minutes time limit which is often not enough to solve 6-7 numerical problems. She's doesn't offer any help if you miss class, quiz,hw unless it's a medical reason.
There won't be any surprise assignments. McLeod, 90% of the time, doesn't teach what's on the homework or exams. If it weren't for the SI's practice exams and the study plan, I would not have passed this class. Don't bother reading the textbook, it covers the material in the loosest sense. McLeod belittles those who struggle. Don't take this class.
If I were you, I would try to register class with other professor. Professor McLeod lectures are not organized, she threw stuffs from here and there and makes you more confuse. I learned more from YouTube teachers than McLeod. She's doesn't give another chance to complete missed work. You are on your own. Don't take her
I came to class every day and did all my homework. I didnt really study for exams and got a B. Her lectures are designed to be supplemented by the textbook, which I read prior to hws so when exams came, no studying was needed on my end. She is intense but its literally because she wants you to pass, shes a teacher so you cant hold that on her
Professor McLeod was not the worst but the way she taught I couldnt get behind mostly because it was the 3 hour/once a week class so I understand its hard to fit it all but she would do random scenarios for every example which can be super confusing. Quizzes are SUPER hard for no reason, exams arent bad as long as you study. Final is mandatory):
I simply wouldn't look left and right while crossing the sidewalks on the way to her class.
Arrogant, bitter, typically academic who hates the rich. Rushes through every lecture, making simple mistakes consistently. Doesn't care for her students. Zero empathy. Does the bare minimum her job requires. All quizzes, hw, & exams are online. Dumps 30% of her job onto her SI (student assistant). Takes attendance randomly. Don't take her at all.
ACCT is hard, but prof McLeod is super passionate, even if she isn't always covering stuff relevant to exams & quizzes. There is just a lot of content in this course and McLeod moves fast but there are resources like SI to help you succeed. Renee (SI) was amazing and her exam reviews were super helpful. Go to Renee's sessions and you'll pass.
The people saying that Professor McLeod is awful, are the one's who wanted her to give out free 100's. Yes, the class is difficult, but McLeod really helps her students. Her lectures are clear, and if you have a question she will answer is throughly. She gives out candy if you answer questions, and is the best professor I've had at UNT.
Accounting 2010 is not an easy course first off. You have to work hard to get a good grade and professor McLeod was very accessible and the SI sessions were very helpful. The class was very organized and ran very smoothly.
Accounting 2010 is very hard, and there are a lot of homework as well as quizzes. She does a great job at being efficient for the lectures and gives many useful examples for many of the problems. Attendance is factored into the grade, but she does gives easy questions as well as freebies. She has a lot of resources to help struggling students too.
Being an entry-level ACCT course, she has a 'sink-or-swim' attitude about the course, though it is obvious she does care about the welfare of the students. The majority of grades are through online quizzes/tests, which are near impossible to do well on if you skip her lectures. Her review sessions are vital, and she more than shows her knowledge.
She is a great teacher. her lectures are vital to succeeding in the class. She cares for students' grades and wants them to do their best. She has great resources for tests and attendance is mandatory for Iclicker grades but you don't want to miss it anyway. This class is hard with any professor but I'd choose her again if I had the choice.
For all 4 of the normal exams, the review was so helpful, as was going to the SI sessions. The professor made the class very enjoyable and related material to real life. I made an A before the final exam and then dropped to a B because of the final. The final is nothing like the 139-question review. You have a better shot napping and praying.
She is amazing!!! she makes sure you understand the material before continuing and if you get lucky you can leave with some sweets
PLEASSSEEEE take any other professor but her. She is very knowledgeable on the topic but unfortunately can not teach. She claims to be understanding but is not at all. Prepare to teach yourself all the material. Nothing she says in lecture or emphasizes in the lecture will be on the exam.
A good professor for accounting, just gets a little off topic sometimes in class. The videos in Pearson help a lot with the content and are super short. Attendance is mandatory, if you miss more than 20% of class your grade gets dropped a letter grade. Test heavy, GO TO THE SI EXAM REVIEW!
I would suggest making this teacher your last option if possible. She's a decent teacher but more on the strict side when it comes to assignments being due at 4pm and not allowing you to complete late assignments without a real rooted reason. She's strictly there to be a professor. There's a small amount of generosity from her but that's about it.
This is the professor your teachers from high school were warning us about when they said college would be harder.
RUDEST, inconsiderate professor I have ever had. Her lectures don't match up at all with the homework or exams. She failed me by 69.76%. I never missed one class, attended every SI session, and she still deducted points on attendance and has 0 grace. She gives no extra credit, loads of homework every week on lockdown browser, Do NOT register for her.
She gave me a 0 on my participation in the class even though I told her multiple times that I couldn't participate because the iClicker was glitching out. Is not sympathetic and does not help you succeed.
Avoid if you can. She makes everything due on a certain day at a certain time. For me it was Wednesdays at 4pm and that interfered with my work.
It has been awhile since I took this course, but I have now decided to go down the accounting path. However, were it for her course alone, I never would have taken another financial accounting class again. She is very knowledgeable, but not good at teaching. I had to teach myself everything in this class. Not the worst, but definitely not the best.
If you can chose any other professor, DO IT! She rushes through all of her lectures and spends a lot of time telling stories that are irrelevant. Her tests NEVER match up with what she lectures about in class. She jokes about people having to retake the class. Quizzes due Monday at 4PM interferes with work schedules. She doesn't accept late work.
Stay far far away from taking this class with Professor McLeod. I had to drop the class do to other reasons but it honestly may have been a blessing in disguise. She knows what she's talking about but doesn't know how to convey it in a way that makes sense to everyone. tells stories that have nothing to do with class.she also is just disrespectful.
She is a horrible professor.. if u are reading this trust me, take this as a SIGN! I'm trying to save you. She is insecure about her teaching so she is super strict and has homework that is recorded and proctored. She blames the students for not doing well. She also belittles students. She hold herself at such high standards its annoying in class.
She is a HORRIBLE teacher. It is very clear that she is really knowledgeable when it comes to accounting but when it comes to teaching it she is not. She is always waisting class time by telling stories that are irrelevant to the class. She told so many stories about her time working at JCPenny that it almost feels like if I had worked there too
