Great teacher. The course was very straightforward. For the blended course, there was textbook reading and videos to watch followed by a short quiz before class each week. Prof. Kelley is a really caring and considerate teacher. I loved this class (I really only took it to have an excuse to cook), and I really enjoyed it! If you do the online work before class and take the quiz, the cooking lab will be a breeze (so watch the demonstrations!!). Definitely take this even if you don't know how to cook.

I loved this class - the food we made was amazing and Allissa is super sweet! Pretty chill and fun environment to learn to cook in. At first I was nervous about the readings/videos we had to watch before each lab but it really wasn't too heavy of a workload, though it was more than I expected. I'd recommend both the class & taking it from Allissa!

Taking this class online with Prof. Kelley was pretty good. The grading for each sample you make is very clear on the rubric criteria, but it will really depend on your TA if they think you did it right or not. There's a quiz every week and things due about every wednesday and saturday. Not too bad, but deadlines are pretty strict.

I've never met Professor Kelley because I took her online sewing class. The class was fun but very time-consuming and kind of expensive. There was a lot of content to learn very quickly, but I felt like it was explained well, and I learned a lot.

This professor is so sweet and this class taught me a lot of cool skills that I am excited to have and continue growing. This class was really hard for me though because it is SUCH a time commitment. Luckily the late policy is very forgiving and the professor and her TAs are very on top of it when it comes to feedback and grading.

Blended class, with reading and a test before class each week, SUPER easy class. Honestly really fun, labs were easy and the food was good, Ta's were fun and played music during class so it was a good environment. Would deff take again and an easy fun credit to do with friends.

Class was super fun and easy to navigate! I was in the online section, and at times it was a little unclear what materials I would need for which week but other than that everything was straightforward. Its easy to get ahead if you want too.

This class is a ton of work and very time consuming. Professor Kelley is very responsive, and I learned a lot! I agree with some of the other student ratings that the online course needs better organization because the videos and assignment requirements were not always congruous, but Professor Kelley was great to work with when I noticed issues.

Took SFL 185 from Prof. Kelley online. At one point I had to restart my entire project and I emailed her about it and she was super nice and gave me an extension which was really helpful!

Because this was an online course, my rating for this professor will probably be very different from those who had her in person, but I had a very difficult time with this class. Some of the resources were outdated or completely wrong, and in her bio she even mentions the wrong class. Only heard from her TAs (which were great).

I enjoyed this course! It was definitely a lot of work. The material itself was easy enough to learn, but be ready to sew all the time. Because it was an online class, I didn't ever meet Professor Kelly in person, but she was responsive to email. I learned a lot from this class. If you really want to learn how to sew, take this class.

This course is largely put together by the sewing department and Professor Kelley is more of a steward than an instructor. She is super friendly and respectful, she answered a ton of my questions before the course began, and then when my TA didn't answer my email I ended up asking her the question and she was very clear and helpful.

Very down-to-earth and reasonable. The class had a predictable schedule that made it easy to plan ahead, and Professor Kelley had clear expectations. I honestly really liked this class. Except for the textbook- it kinda sucked but that's not her fault. The cooking assignments were so fun and low-key easy.

Allissa is great but the class was a waste of time. The textbook is useless and the labs are really long. I felt like I was back in high school taking a food class. The TA's were fine but not much of a help either and they graded things way too harshly. Attendance is also completely mandatory with little to no wiggle room if you miss a lab.

The labs were fun each week and there's only one quiz you have to do beforehand. It can be reading heavy, but if you're already familiar with food/cooking, you should be just fine and probably won't need to get the textbook.

Professor Kelley is so nice! You can tell she really cares about her students and she takes time every class to get to know each person. She was organized and helpful. The class was fun and pretty easy. Definitely take it if you are looking for a friendly environment. Worked in groups of about 4 the whole semester. No cooking experience needed.
