Awesome class! Very interesting and funny lady. She brings life to the old dead masters. Lots of work, but well worth it!

she makes the classes enjojable and it makes us understand better and faster the wonders of art, from ancient times all the way through the last age.(contemporary) cheers for her.
I have never had a teacher who knows their lecture like her. She spells out the class with so much clarity that there is no way you could fail if paying attention. I reccomend making the extra credit note cards during her lecture time. They are very helpful when studying and give you extra credit. She is so interesting!
Mrs. Sullivan is the reason I am an Art History major.
One of the best teachers at COS! She really cares about what she teaches, and makes the students care as well. One of the best.
This class was a bit of work but it was easy if you took really good notes. The best thing to do is write the cards while she's teaching about them, then just fill it in. The cards are super helpful, but don't wait until the last second. She's really nice and very understanding about stuff, just don't make too many excuses and you'll be fine.
She is a really nice teacher. If you pay attention and take the notes you will do fine in the class.
Ms Sullivan is extremely competent, straightforward, knowledgeable, and encourages stundents to be diligent. She also explains art in such a way as to give a whole new perspective on life. I highly recommend Ms. Sullivan for any art class at COS.
Passionate about her classes, she transmits good vibes to students by making the class very interesting and unique, I would have never thought of Art History as being so interesting and inspiring. She is straightforward in what she expects though. Take good notes, make the cards, and pay attention, you'll be on to an easy A.
The best instructor of my undergraduate career (universities included)!!! Even if you're not an art history major, take this class for the pure appreciation of her lectures. She speaks beautifully. She could be an English or a Philosophy instructor--you wish she were!
very helpful. easy to understand. study flash cards and you will do great
she is really a good teacher, she tries to make it as easy as possible, don't lag it... really helpful.
She loves what she does and made me want to learn. It was great having a teacher so excited about the subject.
I love her!
Allyson Sullivan is a great professor. Her lectures are crystal clear and entertaining. She hands out study guides and tells you exactly what to write down for the test. The little homework she assigns is easy. Just show up to every class, take notes and relax, there is nothing to stress on this class. Just study your notes before the exams. Easy A
Good teacher. I had no interest in Art History coming in but she makes in somewhat interesting. She knows her stuff. No homework just study hard for the tests. She basically tells you everything on the tests just take good notes and pay attention.
Terribly hard to listen as she drags on about useless things, instead of being to the point. She doesnt require too much of you other than come to class and study a little before tests. Material is decently interesting but she needs to learn how to be a better public speaker!!
Mrs sullivan is great. One of the best teachers I ever had, she knows her stuff and shes a nice lady, I love her class!
Mrs. Sullivan is an amazing teacher. She really loves teaching art. Never assigns homework unless you want extra credit. Just study and you will pass.
Very easy class, just got to show up, study and you'll pass!
The class is kind of boring but not hard. Shes very nice and knows her stuff. Go to class do your flashcards and you'll get an A
If COS had more Art history classes I'd want Mrs. Sullivan to teach them. She's lovely to listen to knows her subject very well. Make the flashcards, you won't want to miss class. Be sure to review the textbook for the essay examples. She allows make-up exams but they are in a different format than the original chapter exams. Notes are literally spelled out for you. She's a wonderful teacher & very thorough. I highly recommend her to students of any major.
She took a long time to like... She is incredibly detailed but sometimes a bit much. She does however, make everything very understandable.
She is such an amazing teacher. This was not my favorite subject but she made it interesting and memorable. As long as you study before tests you should do fine!
Horribly, HORRIBLY boring. Art is my world and she nearly ruined it for me with her boring style. Requires no challenge for the students whatsoever and doesn't care if you don't do the work. I hated this class and, had there been other teachers for the subject I'd recommend them over her any day.
A nice person, sadly she is a perfectionist. She is a good teacher memorization is just not how I learn. She does offer free tutoring. She is very into her job I just didn't enjoy anything about her class.
She is one of my favorite teachers at COS! Bubbly and eccentric, she's one of the few who really love her jobs. I didn't care for old art whatsoever until she taught me about it, it's been a year and i've still retained a lot of the information she's taught me.
Ms. Sullivan is a great professor! She makes her subjects come to life and presents it very passionately. All you have to do is take notes during her lectures in the note packets she makes and study from them, you don't even need the book. Her tests aren't difficult if you read your notes beforehand. There is no homework aside from one project.
She has one of those "audiobook" voices that put me to sleep a few times, however the way she uses her packets to keep the information recorded and help you remember is very well organized! the extra credit "flash cards" not only earn extra credit, but they really help retain information! very good teacher!
Art 3 is very interesting. I like the way she teaches, wish she could teach all the classes at COS. Go to class, take notes and study! Always do the flashcards it helps a lot to get ready for the test plus it's good for E.C
Very great teacher, her lectures are informing and interesting. Requires 5 test, one is the final. Notes are taken on packets and attendance is mandatory. Would recommend to anyone looking to take Art.
I would recommend Mrs. Sullivan for any art class. She is very organized and that makes the entire class easy to follow. You can tell she loves art & sometimes its a but much, but she's great. Also, she will say to purchase the text (which is very expensive) but you will NEVER use it! Her tests are strictly from the notes you take in the packet!
Very helpful and easy to learn from!
Like her teaching style. Shes also very approuchable. Has a tutoring session twice a week.
She is a nice teacher. I like her method in teaching very easy and helpful. Just study!
Loved this class! I understand and appreciate more so than prior to entering the classroom. Professor Sullivan's teaching method is so easy to follow, especially because she's so passionate about the subject matter. I really recommend this professor.
I was dreading taking this class, but I ended up liking it a lot. Allyson loves what she does and she is very animated when she talks, so it is easy to pay attention. Her tests are simple, just take the notes, study beforehand, and write out notes for your essays before the tests and you'll be fine! (Each test has an essay, there are 5 total).
Great teacher. No gibber jabber, very organized, crystal clear. You MUST STUDY for the test. But it's not difficult at all. Do your job, make the flashcards and study as she tells you to and you will be fine. I got perfect scores almost every time on the tests.
I LOVED Mrs. Sullivan! No cake walk but if you do the flash cards, attend the class, and study for the tests you should have no problem. Also I was having issues with the code for the online stuff and she helped me out & even got me a free one. I love the stories she also applies to the pieces, it made it a lot easier for me to remember. RECCOMEND!
Would definitely recommend. Don't really need the book, just make flash cards based on notes. Good for an intro to art class, attendance not mandatory but you will miss on important things for the test. Lots of extra credit opportunities and one of the better profs compared to other's I've had at COS.
SHES AMAZING. SHE IS THE MOST HELPFUL TEACHER IN THE WORLD. YOU GO TO CLASS, FILL OUT THE PACKET WHILE SHE LECTURES. SHE WILL WALK THE CLASS THROUGH THE PACKET DAY BY DAY. IF YOU STUDY THE PACKET YOU WILL PASS THE TEST. HARDLY NEED THE BOOK.
Allyson Sullivan is the best professor I have ever had. Her enthusiasm for the subject is contagious. Awesome!!
The instructor is very calm, friendly, professional, and helpful. She goes out of her way to answer any questions, the class is clear, and she is very organized and a perfectionist (in a good way). She doesn't leave out any details. Easy material as well. Walk in, sit down, sign in, take notes, and leave. Five tests total and extra credit. Easy A!
She is one of the very few instructors who truly love their career as an instructor and love to teach their students. You can feel the passion radiating from her as she lectures. Her lectures and curriculum persuade me to become an art major BUT im way too committed to my true major. Be sure to attend every class, keep up with the packet & study!
Her love & passion for the material made the class fun. I'm not an Art major but I thoroughly enjoyed Art History. She loves what she does and it rubs off on you. Small portion of extra credit with every exam and if you do it you'll probably get an A on the exam. Very easy. Show up, take notes, make flashcards, study, get your A. Great professor!
Honestly one of the best instructors I've ever had. I literally wanted this class to be 2 hours long because she just makes it so fun. She's very genuine and you can tell she loves what she does.
The work is so straight forward, it's basically all about memorization. She is super organized and doesn't rush anything. She is extremely passionate about what she teaches, and makes class interesting and very enjoyable. She is just a great teacher overall.
Go over your packet and you will pass all 5 of them easy A
When I took this class I was not expecting to enjoy it as much as I did. She is so passionate and in love with her job it makes you feel the same. She's incredibly organized and knows what she is doing. Study the packet she hands you and make flash cards for extra credit and you'll pass the class with a breeze.
I have nothing but great things to say about my time in Allyson's class. Her passion for art is extremely inspiring. Take her class! Do your flash cards! Attend S.I! Learn all the art!
She is the best professor hands down! Going to class is very important, but she makes it so much fun to be there. Don't worry about the expensive textbook she gives you other options for it on the first day of class. Overall, I have had an amazing experience and am happy to take the other courses she instructs. Do the flashcards.
She is by far my favorite professor. She is very passionate. There are no assignments and she gives 5 tests and 2 inclass essays and 1 take home. Didn't use our book often, but you don't need to buy it. I never bought a book, instead I used a 30 day trial from the online sit when needed. Mostly memorization and the class is super easy. Do the EC
Ms Sullivan is one of my favorite teachers ever. She is passionate about the subject and about teaching effectively. I love how she explains the lessons and helps us see relevant things in artworks we may miss otherwise. Her care in helping students suceed is above average, I wish there were more teachers like Ms. Sullivan.
Sullivan makes her class very easy as long as you put the work into it. Her tests subjects are given clearly in the packet of notes she gives. The tests aren't hard as long as you study and I'm not even good at studying, but making the extra credit flashcards saved me. Attending SI is also extra credit and it helps prepare for the test too.
Ms. Sullivan is a very artistic person that is very passionate when it comes to discussing the art subjects and the history behind them. You can tell she is passionate about the subject she is teaching.
Wonderful teacher, I appreciated how she cares about the success of her students. I llok forward to taking another of her classes.
I can't say the topic of the class wasn't sometimes boring. Don't get me wrong, it is interesting at times too! Great teacher and I would definitely take the class again. If you want to pass the class, show up. You miss a lot from missing just one day. DO THE FLASHCARDS TOO
This class intrigued me so much. Sullivan is super awesome and the class is easy if you study and do the extra credit. Id get super sleepy in class because of the relaxing atmosphere but the class is interesting... just dont get comfy.
I have never experienced a professor with so much passion for what they teach!! Her passion for art is contagious and you're completely drawn in, wanting to know more about the subject. Lectures are a bit slow, but still very interesting. Despite knowing everything or nothing about art, this class is enjoyable for everyone!!
Allyson is very clear from the very first day so as students there is no excuse! She provides you with a packet in which you fill in the blanks, and if you truly want to understand every piece you should always refer to the text book. She also provides tons of extra credit!!!
Mrs. Sullivan is the most genuine professor I have ever had the pleasure of taking in my college career. Very transparent with her materials, and if you put in the work, you're sure to pass with ease. This is not a difficult class as long as you fill out the notes and practice by making the flash-cards (they're extra credit, too!). Show up!
Mrs. Sullivan made me adore Art History. Super laid back class however should attend each class to get the class notes. With a bit of studying you should be able to pass. Extra Credit is offered by attending certain events and flash cards! Easy A if you put in the effort!
She's a great teacher and if you do the extra credit (which is basically the study guide for the tests) there is no reason you shouldn't pass. You do not need the book to pass. She told us it was required so I rented it and I used it once for a hw question that she answered in class the next day. You can just look up the art online.
This was by far the easiest class I've taken this semester. Test are kind of long and the first two include an essay. There's one big essay due towards the end of the semester, but she gives you a lot of time to plan for it. Offers extra credit for tests.
Professor Sullivan is a great professor. Her lectures are so relaxing and actually makes art interesting like it should be. This is a memorization style course and attendance is mandatory. Complete the flashcards so you get the points and it helps for the test. The tests can be difficult if you do not study, but easy if you do. Fun and easy class.
I loved her! She is very clear on her methods for notes and lectures, and she basically gives you the answers for tests in your packets. Attend every class, take all the notes, do the extra credit cause it's basically free points for studying, and you'll be fine! She wants everyone to succeed, so don't be afraid to use the resources she gives!
Study the study guide and you'll pass. Lots and lots of memerization for testing.
Sullivan makes art history an amazing thing to learn about. She is so passionate about the subject that it rubs off on students. The class itself is easy, all you have to do is attend class and fill out the packet. The packet is what you use to study so I wouldnt miss class. Overall a great class.
Fantastic professor. Very professional but will definetly make you laugh sometimes. Very caring and passionate about what she teaches. I've had her for a year now and i wish i could have her longer. Only thing she grades on is tests every few weeks and one writing assignment. Highly recommend :)
Very solid choice for those who are majoring in Art. Very caring and respectful. Criteria is very clear and she is easy to reach out to. Work is straightforward and only 6 things are graded the whole semester. Had to use Online due to recent events but she made it a very easy transition. Highly Recommend!
I've taken two of Allyson's classes- art history 1 and 2, basically- and she remains one of the best professors I've ever had. I took her class my first semester at COS and am still amazed by her teaching, which combines a real passion for art with a love for her students, plus just the right amount of professionalism. Take her!!
Amazing professor! Her lectures are short, very informational, and she knows and loves art. She gives plenty of time to do the assignments, the directions and grading criteria is very clear. I would love to take another one of her classes!
I took Art 2 first and I knew I would take art 3. Even though its online, I get excited before I watch the recorded lectures because of the way she talks about different works of art. This class is better in person too, so I highly recommend !
Great professor!! Take all the classes you can with her! Best professor at COS!
She inspired me
An amazing professor and one of the nicest. She is very caring and kind.
Allyson is one of the best professors at COS. She really knows and loves what she teaches and her enthusiasm of the subject helps make the lectures interesting. There's extra credit for every era you cover and a quiz that are taken online and have two attempts. Notes are fill in the blank which come from the lectures. Suggest taking her in person.
art history was a well-supported class. we were encouraged to work together. i had been out of the history mid-set about both learning and comprehension. i had forgotten about italy perspective on giving a student support to "retain information". sincerely, witness protection student
Although the semester has barely started, I can already tell that Professor Sullivan's class will be one of my favorites. She tries her absolute best to immerse the class in each and every lecture's material, and she shows a true interest in the topics she teaches. I could not imagine someone better suited for teaching Art History.
Absolutely adored Ancient-Gothic art history. There's a lot of note taking but I think it's overshadowed by how much she cares about what she's teaching and she genuinely enjoys her job. Always loved class, and I'm excited to take the Gothic-Modern eventually. Quizzes are out of class, so it gives you time to fully study before taking the quizzes.
If I could rate Professor Sullivan's classes higher than a 5, I absolutely would! She's one of the most straightforward and exciting professors I had. I took her for Art 2 in the spring of '23 and Art 3 in the spring of '24. She's a wonderful professor, and if you ever miss class she has online recordings of all the lectures you may have missed :)
I took both of Sullivan's Art 002 and Art 003 Art History classes during my spring semester. She is brilliant and genuinely cares for her students, constantly giving the opportunity for extra credit. Even if you think you don't have a certain interest for art history, you WILL become intrigued just due to her passion while lecturing. 10/10.
Very caring professor and loves art history! Quickly became one of my favorite classes this semester, and she is very knowledgeable about the subject. The workload is light and she makes sure due dates never overlap. There's an extra credit assignment with every test (which is online), which I highly recommend doing because it helps you study :)
Professor Sullivan is such an inspiring educator. Her passion for art history is shown in the way she teaches. I am forever grateful I took her course.
Wonderful wonderful amazing professor, I had art 002 and 003 with her, will miss her classes dearly. So sweet and caring, made me fall in love with art history and if I could take another class with her I absolutely would. Lectures are so engaging and informative, lots of extra credit opportunities that go along with tests. Cannot recommend enough!
I am a physics major and I took Professor Sullivan's class in Fall ‘24. Art 04 is a requirement for me so I didn't really take it by choice, but I miss this class every day. Easy timed tests taken at home. Interesting and informational lecture packets I still keep in my room to this day. Please take this class, I couldn't recommend her enough.
Very straightforward class, I love how she breaks up the lectures into small videos, and the study guides are easy to follow. Gives extra credit opportunities every unit.
