Worst instuctor I have ever had. He acknowleged that his daughter wrote on one of our assignments with crayon midway during the semester. He forgot about it, and tried to give everyone in the class an F. Unbelievable.Talked down to students. Very unclear.
Exceptionally helpful and knowledgable. Always eager to help.

I don't know what the people have against him?! His lecutre is great and clear. A bit of accent but easy to understand. I'm looking for taking his CIT 230 in fall. Java - go with him, heavy experienced person. Sure, if you wont do homework and you get lazy you are busted!
He's so bad that other reviewers refer to him as "she". He's a "he" but those students can't even figure out his gender. Read those other reviews and ask yourself, "how bad does a professor have to be that students don't even know if he's a he or a she?"
What can I say?! Simply AWFUL. No preparation. No interest in helping anyone. When he is in trouble then he lies sweetly. Should NEVER be a teacher.
Okay, you brain donors, there are TWO Pandy's. One is Alok, the male, the other is Mahima, Alok's FEMALE wife. No wonder you guys do poorly in classes.
Mr. Alok Pandey is a great professor, very helpful and patient. I had to take this class as a requirement and I don't like the subject at all. However, I did good in the class. A lot of reading!
He is a tough teacher but he knows Java. I send him problems by emails and get response within minutes.
HE IS VERY EASY, AND HELPFULL.iF YOU NEED HELP ,HE IS READY ANYTIME.
This professor is really grea! One of the best thing about him is the perfect explanations on every problems. Test is also easy to solve. Don't please judge him by his appearance!! He does joke very once in a while, that's why I like him.
reply's timely to emails, but is extremely unorganized. good luck finding out when assignments and tests are due. our calendar said one date, his assignment/test schedule had a different one, and his emails gave something else. if you work 2 weeks ahead of his "schedule" you should be prepared.
really great teacher. i attended his summer course and there were only 5 quizes and no hw. u can absent in his class and he dont mind. however, his class was little dry, also he talk fast, but u can ask him question directly or after class.
Terrible teacher. Extremely disorganized. Taking this class online. I don't know when any of my assignments are due. Assignment drop boxes keep disappearing. Doesn't grade assignments early enough. Some people haven't gotten their quizzes graded, and there is one week of class left. Very confusing and not very clear on anything.
He is just ok. Takes too long to grade tests - we're still waiting on our final grade. Emails not answered promptly. The only good thing about him is attendance is not mandatory and no homework. I would not take him again ever!!
a good guy that is fairly easy to understand
This class was disorganized. He never replied to e-mails in a timely manner, and would take forever to grade our assignments. I would not recommend this professor to anyone interested in taking Java.
I took this class online and it was pretty difficult. The instructor wasn't any help when clarification or explaination was needed. He didn't respond timely to emails and they were tradationally a generic response. I wouldn't recommend taking this professor online, unless you have a strong understanding of the material.

Intro to Programming.. I'd already had some programming experience, but this guy would grade me down and not even say why. I even documented and troubleshooted my programs. Doesn't explain why he grades how he does, nor does he thoroughly answer questions. Extremely disorganized; we had one quiz we couldn't even access until a week after it was due
I took his online class. This has to be the worst Teacher on the planet. You have a question? He can't answer them for u. In fact, the man doesn't even know how to spell English properly, just look at his quizzes. Oh, and if u e-mail him, expect to hear back in about a week. The only good thing about him was his grading scale, it helped at the end.
I took his online class. Took him two-three weeks to give test grades back. His online notes are pretty helpful though. The homework is reasonable, about an hour per homework assignment. Tests were copied and pasted from homework assignments. Pretty easy class. But if you email him, you'll wait awhile for a response. Its an easy A if you do the hw
plain and simple do NOT take his course, worse teacher ever
Alok Pandey is a very EASY teacher. Seriously all you do is the homework, which he does NOT grade... it will just benefit you in your quizzes. oh yeah, his quizzes will have questions from the homework which makes it a lot easier. He is an easy A. the only reason i got a B in this class was for ditching, since i didnt catch up with the chapters. :P
he suxks at helping you does not teach good very plain and never communicates with you dont take him!!!!!
This teacher was hard, I would do the H.W and then the quizzes and some problems from the H.W were not even on the quiz.He tries to be funny be really he's not.He is not helpful and would take up to 4 days to write back in email.Would never take him again, don't recommend.
Alok was a great proff I had problems with the final but the issue was the class was a bit truncated.
The online class was a bit stressful. I did ok in the class but everything was 100% textbook. It would have been nice to have some form of instruction. Powerpoints, outlines to learn, something extra would have been helpful. Basically, here is your book, take the test. Some of the questions were confusing. I wouldn't take this class online.
worst teacher ever took the class over a year ago and had to retake it this semester. Unless you are a math wiz avoid his class at all costs. If you are in his class run for the hills and drop out as fast as you can!
Took class online so not too much interaction with the professor. The text is very clear and feedback / help is given if requested. Good class.
Online class. Don't expect any help from the teacher. If you have a question you better have a friend who will help you. The professor only spoke to the class twice the entire semester. If you take this class, hope that you have a very helpful class that can answer each others questions
Once you take this guy, you are on your own. He emailed a couple of times whe the schedule was off but other than that, never heard from him. He benefits from a well written textbook.
Avoid at all costs. He only graded 4(3 homework and the midterm) of the 10 assignments before the class ended. Of those 4 assignments he made huge mistakes on all of them. He gave me 70% on each of the homework assignments and I had to his office to show him the egregious mistakes he made. He lied about what was going to be on the midterm.
Don't take IS-115 with this guy. I found I was trying to learn a very difficult subject without any help from the "processional teacher". Very unorganized. I probably would of gotten more taking an online class.
This was an online course so it was pretty much self study. This class was not very hard, but if you have questions he will want you to try to figure it out first yourself then ask the question on the forum. If there is still a question he will finally answer it.
Alok Pandey is hard to understand and his teaching style is horrid. The way that he explains things is very poor and his grading is even worse. If you can take this class from ANYONE else, you should. I'm confident that you could learn more from nearly any other teacher out there.
No contact, not helpful, website that is used is confusing and hard to navigate. No notes and no calculators on final but can use a calc on homework and tests, makes no sense. Homework grades don't count but without doing it you will have a hard time. Watch videos, its the only actual teaching in the class and its not much.
This is a very difficult class. You have to put in the work to receive a good grade. This professor was always willing to help me and spend time going over the concepts I did not understand. I had no problems with this professor. He always was available to help if you asked him for help.
Slow to responding to e-mails, gives 12 quizzes, 3 exams, had a quiz and an exam on the same day. Pay attn to the questions and what to round your answer to. He tricks you, he wants the answer rounded to the nearest 10th, 100th or 1000th. Not understanding to technical issues. eBook is free & only way you learn, no interaction with the class.
Do not take this class thinking you will learn what you need in class. This is like a web class with little weekly meetings. Read the book! The class will not help you learn. It is more like a support group for the people who read the book. The book and yourself are the only things that will get you through this class with a passing grade.
Alok Pandey is a great instructor. I am currently taking his math 120 class in person and he is very helpful. He explains everything that he teaches very well and if you ever have any questions on lecturehomework he helps you out on the spot! You do have to participate and do homework if you want to get good grades on quizzesexams!
He is very clear and willing to help. There is no homework, he encourages you to do the chapters as you go (which I did). There is a quiz every week and if you turn in your work for the quiz which corrections, you get some points back. He loves it when students ask questions.
He was a great teacher. He is very funny most of the time. It might be just my class. The class was very easy. He uses the book, but there is no homework really, but you can use that time to look at the book if you need help. You take quizzes online. It is open book so very easy. Fun class. Would recommend taking in-class.
You learn from the book not the professor, if you ask him if your way of doing someghing is right and its not your way he cuts you off and doesnt awnser your questions
Not extra credit. Pass or faill. Can be intimidating. The only grades you get are quizes and exams. Better do good on them both. I wouldnt take him again..
LOTS of homework. Tends to go over on class time... BE PREPARED TO STAY LATER THAN SCHEDULED Only 2 tests... Midterm and Final... However, the weekly assignments can be a bit of a test in themselves
Absolute worst professor I've ever had. Taught me absolutely nothing, you read the book you do the work then and only then will he even attempt to help if you ask. Absolute zero clarity on what he wants, he'll say one thing then decide the complete opposite the next day. In general unreliable and unclear. Very nice person, bad teacher in my opinon
His class is horrible. He has no respect towards his students. He is a tough grader and will not give extra credit. He doesn't care if you are falling his class. Plus he requires you to participate in class, & when you get the answer wrong he will get disappointed. DONT TAKE THIS CLASS WITH HIM! HE IS CARELESS! NOT A GREAT PROFESSOR !
He's a terrible professor. He has no sympathy for his students. There's no extra credit and no chance of making up quizzes or exams. He expects you to do homework that he doesn't even give credit for. He can be rude, on several occasions he's raised his voice at me. If you don't want your gpa to suffer, don't take him.
If you are a good college student and follow the book, make every attempt to answer the questions, and come prepared to class, he will gladly help you with any problems. Difficult course but very informative. He is fun, funny, and I very much enjoyed class time. I would recommend this instructor.
The WORST! First of all, never take a Hybrid class unless you know the information 100% already. Class meets once a week and the rest is done online BY YOU!!!!! Waste of money. In class he wasted time wondering off on a few questions and I NEVER learned anything; so I stopped going to class. Class should be used for a lecture. not the case.
Professor Pandey makes you earn your grade by doing the lesson yourself before you come to class. In class he will go over any issues you might have and will do questions on the board until you "get it". He then asks once more to ensure there are no more questions and then moves on. There are 12 quizzes and 3 exams. Be responsible and you'll pass.
Awful teacher were to start? well I would ask him question on the topics that we had discussed several times & he'd get annoyed because I didn't fully understand it, conceited rambles on about himself constantly, takes for ever to reply to emails, & puts people on the spotlight. Take his class if u like teachers who have no sympathy for students
He does not follow the textbook Lectures about things that do not pertain to the lesson Screws with the calculations on the quizzes Rolls his neck when he speaks Does not answer all questions people have 99% late for class, and runs over time Everything is done basically online You'll know more about him than math
I'm surprised at all the poor comments! I have to say he is one of the best math professors I've EVER had! He can be strict, so do not use your phone! I feel like he cares! He gave a make up exam and thanks to that I raised my grade! He would give us advise on not giving up! All you have is the book and he will clarify any questions you may have!
Prof. Panday makes Math easy. He explains everything really well. If I had to take Math again I would choose him for sure.
I took this professor because I needed this class. I would never take him again because it is so hard to understand how he teaches. the class was on campus but all the work was online. 12 quizzes and 3 exams. I have to retake the class cause i will probably get a D. I would never recommend him. You would be better doing an online course.
Math 120 consists of three exams and twelve quizzes. I took hybrid and I had to learn everything on my own. He barely went over any relevant information for future quizzes or exams. No study guides. He just says whatever is on your quizzes is what's on the exam. No review for anything. Do not take this class, just take an online course instead.
only goes over homework problems in class. sometimes keeps the class ten minutes late. 12+ quizzes, three tests. tests are 60% of grade, quizzes are 20%. has history questions on the test because book is for liberal arts majors.
When I asked him for help he wouldn't explain right or just brush it off and assume I knew what he meant. Overall I feel stupid for failing this class but he jumbles it all together without going step by step, He assumes everyone gets it if he just writes one question per section as an example. retaking class and its super easy with my new prof.
Doesnt respond to questions for at least 3-4 days. Depends on youtube videos (that arent even his) to teach the course. Very hard to understand the material because he doesnt include notes or anything. Its essentially every student for themselves.
Alok Pandey is funny and not boring. If you can't make it to your class time, you can attend his second class. Attendance is not mandatory but recommended. Had a handful of quizzes he let us take twice! Exams all taken at testing center. 12 Quizzes all on canvas, no graded homework. Answers email promptly. Lowest quiz not counted.
While I'm sure he's a capable, smart instructor, I didn't learn much taking his online class. Barely made it through with the help of khanacademy videos. The XYZhomework website he chooses to use is terrible and not user-friendly. Never responds to emails. No feedback. Not accessible. Too much homework and too little help. Avoid, avoid, avoid.
I took his accelerated eight week Math 95 course and really enjoyed it. He really cares about you understanding the material before he moves on. His friendly demeanor and upbeat attitude made the three hour class feel like a breeze. Overall, a great professor at CSN that could be teaching anywhere.
This is my first time rating a professor. I just want to say that math has been my hardest subject ever since I could remember. Professor Panday made everything easy to understand. He took his time to explain everything and made everyone part of the class. All though this was a short class , he took time to explain everything in detail.
I've never met the instructor. The class was ALEKS online. The HW was easy, but takes time. The tests are only hard because they have to be taken in a testing center with only a note card for reference, any part wrong causes you to lose ALL credit for a problem, and you'll only see a grade after the tests. Don't take math online, you'll regret it.
This class was very helpful. I'm horrible at math so I was placed in Math 95. First math teacher that explained things in a way you can understand and make it simple. He's not a hard grader. You have many opportunities for extra credit so you should get at least a B. Highly recommend!!!
Best math professor Ive had at CSN. I am an A/B student and I took another professor for Math 96 & failed my first class. Prof Pandey uses my open math which I really liked and every topic had a video to go along with it. He also allowed me to turn in some things late and was very responsive via email as I took him online in a condensed course.
Grades a bit slow. But overall an alright online class. The program used is user friendly. When I had any questions teacher would always respond the same day. Only thing that was annoying was that the final exam was a week after 3rd test so I wasn't able to see 3rd test results before the exam. Also mistakes on practice tests sheet answers.
This class was one of the easier classes I have taken. He used xyz homework which I actually enjoyed. There were videos accessible before each section and videos on most of the HW questions. Minimal HW and test questions were similar to those in the HW. Would take his class again.
This was an online class that you have to pay to get online access, you have to take your finals at the testing center, has very bad communication if you have any questions it takes him over a week to reply. Just overall wouldn't take I got my first F and lost my scholarship because of lack of communication.
If you are self-learner, this class is super easy and no hassle. You don't need textbook too since the material is all online. but its useful if you need extra practice. you are only graded for the quizzes that are there every 2-3 section & exams for every two ch. no retakes so be sure not to make careless mistakes.
If you're extremely organized and are willing to dedicate the time into the class, I say go for it. I would recommend writing down the due dates for each exam/quiz cus sometimes it'll slip your mind. The grade is based solely from exams and quizzes.
Pandey does not grade reliably. He graded all of our homework after the semester ended so no one knew their true grade until then. I did not have a hard time because I knew how to program before the class started. My classmates were not as lucky, I believe only myself and one other person got an A. If you know how to code you'll be fine.
Honestly, I regret taking him. He says you can contact him and he'll get back to you within 24 hours, but it's been about a month since I've contacted him and no response back. It's disappointing that a professor would claim that you can contact him anytime, yet only puts it in his syllabus because it's required. Avoid taking him. He doesn't care.
I took his online Math 95 class in Spring 2020. It's a math class, you have to keep practising to learn and get an A. It wasn't difficult at all. Just do the requirements, and you'll pass. We did the MyMathLab, it doesn't cost anything. All the material is in there. I recommend writing down the due dates it could easily slip in mind
I took this class instead of a higher level math, and if I didnt know this math already I wouldnt have passed. He required meets for exams (which was terrible bc students have work) He only quickly responds to emergency emails. Hes a nice guy, but as a Math 120 prof he was very strict and not the good kind of strict.
This class was my first math class at CSN. There wasn't information on how to use PEARSON, which is an ebook that you have to buy. He doesn't respond to his emails and there is little help. There aren't opportunities for extra credit. I would recommend looking at other better professors if possible.
I took Professor Pandey's Math 104B course and did fairly well. It was completely self guided and he did provide an online textbook, but I purchased the paper copy for the work. You're given sections to read and have practice problems and then a quiz at the end of the week. If you struggle with math, you may want an in person instructor.
I don't know how you can not like him! He is adorable and is always willing to help at anytime, I love him! Would definitely take him again, it wasn't hard and he was also very empathetic,
i took Alok Pandey Math 120E online over the summer and I enjoyed his lectures. He makes sarcastic jokes here and there. As a teacher, he gives credit when credit is due. When taking tests and exams he assures the class that even when we get a question wrong he'll look back on our work to see if we understood the formula and give us some credit.
Professor Pandey was an excellent teacher. He's fair, caring and wants you to succeed. The course is straightforward and laid out beforehand. The homework correlates very closely with the quizzes. He was very respectable toward everyone, even the troublemakers. One of the best professors I've ever had.
Accent is a little hard to understand at times but overall he is a great teacher. Genuinely cares about the students and will make sure you understand the concepts if you're putting in equal effort. Lots of homework and quizes, so be ready. Grading was fair, no surprises. No need for getting the textbook if you're ok with highschool math.
This class was very difficult. The exams were worth 45% of the grade. He gave no extra credit towards work from exams, so if you miss one thing on the question, you get the whole thing wrong. I asked him about extra credit for showing work, and he said yes. However, when I reminded him, he yelled at me. I did not like this class or the professor.
