hypocritical teacher, keeps accusing me of being absent when im not absent
He's Difficult Yes, be deffinately a grood teacher. I learned a lot and earned my A. You need to work for it.
hardest accounting teacher you can get. even when he is helpful or trying to clear things up, he ridicules & belittles you. ask the other half of the class that dropped by the first week or the 50% of the remaining who failed
be ready to rely on your own learning abilities
He thinks that is a genius.......... he never explains clearly …..he is arrogant ……..and he treats students like there are in elementary school….
It is a great class! You will learn accounting and YES, he will get you prepared for the CPA. It is a hard class, but hey, it is masters! 15% of my class droped after the first mid-term. I guess they thought they registered for ACCT 101. I recommend the class if you want to get the CPA. Very competitive, exams - hard!!!
He tested those he did not teach. He tested those he promised not to test. Do not trust him. Rely on your self study most time. All in all, his exam is harder than the real CPA test.
He lectured more about passing the CPA exam and studying than he lectured on the actual subject matter. All in all he was a rather nice guy and sometimes quiet funny. However, he seemed bored of teaching and half an hour of each class was spent on attendance or discussions about the exam. The material was very difficult, so get the book and read it
This is a very tough class. Self-teaching is the way I got through this course. The professor tries to be helpful, but I believe he is not that great of a teacher. Really understand your debits/credits before the first day of class.
oh my god, HE DOES NOT EVEN HAVE A CPA LICENSE!!! this guy teaches like it's the end of the world & when you answer one of his questions wrong, it's like the end of the world. this guy does not spare people's feelings & only seems to care about the people who are doing well, nevermind the people who are struggling & need help with the material.
Very biased in grading. Be nice to him... Exams are very hard. Dont study any conceptual material from book if you want to save time. Exams are 100% computational.
He is arrogant, ****, and obnoxious. If you are female, watch out. I dropped because of his unwelcome advances that made me uncomfortable. He can't teach, and made me hate accounting while I was in his class. He is inconsiderate to anyone's feelings and cannot teach. Avoid him like the plague.
His class is very demanding, somehow interesting, just be prepared to be embarassed if you respond slowly or can not answer questions, and you will never fall asleep because he is gonna embarass you and punish you by deducting points. Seems only care about those who got high scores.
By far it's the hardest and most demanding class I've ever taken in my life, but extremely rewarding if you dedicate your time and effort. As he said many times, you literally need to spent at least 10 hours a week (not including class time) doing homework assignments, and about 30 hours preparing for the exam. Be prepared!
Tough class. He's not kidding when he says you need to spend many hours on your own doing problems. Read the chapter before going to class. He will ask questions. Pay attention to everything in the chapter, including apendixes, even if he doesn't cover it. Everything is included unless specifically excluded. He's tough but you'll learn a lot.
He is a ****. bad professor. He has no knowledge of accounting. In my opinion he probably ask someone else to make the exam and someone else grades it. He is so useless and not fit for teaching. Never saw a professor so bad for real.
Hardest class ever. No joke. He does care about the students knowledge but is very mean about asking questions and is extremely demanding. DONT SLACK AT ALL. Also, the tests are nuts. Forget concepts, just do problems over and over as he suggests. Also, be sure to read before class and print slides from the textbook. Good luck with him!
Hardest class I ever took, but I learned a lot. Always, always prepare before you go to class. He knows when you are not prepared. Try to attend all the classes. Make sure you work on all the problems after each chapter if you want to ace the tests. Overall, the class is tough, but if you are determined you will do good.
Hardest class at Baruch. If you a PT student, only take this class for the semester. The professor does not prepare for class at all. Professor recommends students complete ALL problems in the text. I guess this is necessary to get a good grade in the course. I was lucky to pass. Exams are impossible. Going to review sessions is a waste.
Prof Ghoshe makes class harder than need to be, he doesn't know how to teach. He talks about concepts, tells you funny stories, and enjoys boosting his ego by embarrassing students. You learn nothing from his lectures. Once you have the pleasure of a class with Prof Nurnberg you will know who is the best and who is the worst Acc Prof at Baruch
Ghosh is mediocre at best. He is extremely negative. He likes to say that he is tough on students because he wants them to pass the CPA, but his motives are not genuine. Read the chapters and do all the problems at least twice. His class pontification is actually superfluous. His ego is larger than himself, he doesn't shut up during exams.

It's a waste of money to take his course. Since this is a core requirment for CPA program, I have no choice but take it. All of us are hard working students, come to class prepared and on time. But he never delivers a reasonable quality of teaching service to students.
horrible!
he is a very bad teacher. Never take this class unless it's your core requirements. A waste of ur time. A shame to Baruch accouting dept
He cannot teach. It's a waste of time going to his classes, he can't explain anything clearly. I understand that the subject is difficult, but he does not ease the pain at all. It's a shame that he is the only one to teach this class. Don't take him, unless is necessary.
Horrible, Total Waste- He isn't even a CPA! Wastes 30 min. taking attendance, then another 45 min. telling you how he is the smartest person ever, and you aren't. Classes are useless; he doesn't teach! Would have skipped classes, but mandatory to attend, and he'll penalize you. Tries to belittle and confuse you in order to show how smart he is.
I disagree with all the opinions about this professor. I learned a lot in his course, I spent a lot of hours studying because it is a difficult material and it is so much to study. He tells you what is on the test. Just read the chapters, understand the material, do all Es and Ps and you will be fine. Studying hard really pays off I got an A ;-)
Very demanding course. Professor has equisite sense of humor. Enjoyed the entire semester.A lot of self-study needed and you'll be fine. What I can't understand from other ratings is how does it matter he's not a CPA? Does it have anything to do with your life?
It matters if he is a CPA because all throughout class he tells you he is preparing u for CPA, but how would he know if he never took the exam, or ever was one himself. Just goes to show how much bs he talks. He is a pompous little man who is full of himself and can't teach at all. Wastes time in trivial useless things such as taking attendance.
Not surprised he is rated poor. His goodness is: 1. exam is straight forward, not tricky at all; 2, scoring is not strict; 3, test is not cumulative. What's his bad side: 1, he ****s for 20 mins before every class;2, he wastes lots of time taking attendance; 3, he can only explain 10% of necessary points but test u 100%. I got an A.
Not an CPA = has limited knowledge about CPA, doesn't need CPE, so he's not up2date. Whatever crap he has are theoratical, could be pulled from any book, simply no good for preparing you for CPA. For those who are good at self-teaching, nevermind but you could get same/better grade w. another prof. You pay to have him take attendence & read youself
He creates the environment in the class very stressful for those who do not like to talk. However, exams are very straightforward, he tells you what to expect. Study chapters + appendixes for his exams, do not skip anything!!!! I do not think it matters that he does not have a CPA, he is up to date with all the accounting information. I learned a l
Unfortunately, this man is unavoidable if you're an accounting major. Unfortunately, Baruch hires such bad professors and, what's worse, promotes them and lets them teach key accounting courses. I've got nothing positive to say about this professor and am surprised anyone would.
By far, the best professor in Baruch College. He knows exactly where weaknesses are and how to correct them. It is a difficult course, but if you study hard you will be glad you took it.
Prof. Aloke Ghosh is one of the most dedicated teachers I've met in almost 20 years of schooling. He teaches with passion for the subject and cares if his students succeed in life. He is very energetic, well informed and very well spoken. I would take his class again without blinking an eyelid.
This professor is funny, smart and a great teacher, but you have to keep up with him otherwise you miss out. I can see why many students would not like him - you can never sleep in his class, he asks questions all the time (in an attempt to take the pulse of the class, not to embarrass) and he is teaching a heavy-load course.
What an exceptional moron! He doesn't teach anything, avoids complicated topics, because he gets confused - he doesn't know accounting! He is probably the one who leaves positive comments about himself on this site. No one in the right mind will. Lazy, incompetent, inadequate lunatic.I lost money to learn that. And he teaches MBA!!
just horrible ! a little guy with huge ego..
professor makes the topic much harder then necessary. not helpful or nice when consulted outside of class.
Tough class, but very useful in preparing you for the CPA exam. He is very intense and be prepared to not have a life for a semester. Many people have problems with his style of teaching, being that he is very demanding and constantly calls on people in class. I thought it was challenging, but a very good course. I really took a lot from his cl
in short - a key course taught by a a guy who will never find a decent job in the real world if he keeps on talking to people like this
everything u've read is true. wastes time talking about himself & doesn't teach. u learn by teaching yourself. u ask him how you should study, he says to do every problem in the book. it's a travesty. i can teach myself for free, why should i pay tuition for that? huge ego, but if someone asks him a simple question he gets flustered. it's shameful.
Don't be fooled by posts saying he's dedicated, energetic, engaging. He loves to talk about himself. People just get sucked in by that I guess. Exams are difficult & you're on your own. He doesn't prepare you. You teach yourself. Extremely egotistical. He claims he'll change your life w/ his teaching. I've learned nothing. Arrogant & worthless.
Terrible professor. He constantly talks about how difficult the the course is and how much material there is to cover, but he doesn't actually teach anything. He gets confused easily but is still arrogant when speaking about different topics. Avoid him if possible.
Terrible professor. Unfortunately, if you are an accounting major, you have take his class because no one else teaches it at Baruch. Talks more than he teaches. Humiliates and insults students. Very rude.
Let's put it this way: There were two Ivy League graduates in my class and both of them complained about this guy. He is a once-in-a-lifetime professor. To sum up his class: HE DOES NOT TEACH 95% of the material in the book, but expects you to learn everything by yourself. The preparation for his exams is 100 times harder than the exams themselves.
Hehe... I thought it was really funny reading the feedbacks, especially the one not being able to get a real job so teaches. this is really sad, since this is a core class, and is taught by someone who can't teach. But once again, you are in Baruch and here politic has the upper hand when it comes to tenure. They can't fire this guy.
It's a very hard class, and his teaching style doesn't make it easier. Constant digressions (usually about himself) that burn up class time, what is focused on in class isn't necessarily what's important or on the exams. He admits teaching is subordinate to his research and consulting work. Fine, then let an adjunct do the lecture...
His arrogance is completely obnoxious
Be Prepared for some long hours of studying. Do all problems in the back of the book. He will NOT each you how to do it but will be on the test for sure. By the way- you have nearly 25 problems at end of each chapter- takes about 30 minutes per question.. do the math.Oh did i mention you should be exercise questions as well-that's about 20Q as well
He's late everyday, but if you're late, he takes off points. He even takes it personally if you come late. He loves when people come to his office panicked about their grade. It's like he gets a power trip. Doesn't teach. Talks about himself. Doesn't know how to do the problems on the board. Sucked the joy of learning and I love school. I hate him.
He does not teach. When he does, he is usually wrong even at the VERY END (because he bs about himself and other stuff during class) of class. The exams are TOUGH. Taking him is like you study on your own and be judged by him through his exams. Truly the WORST.
Ghosh is not that bad - his exams are extremely tough if you do all the exercises and problems for each chapter you have a chance - doesnt teach during class, class is extremely diffcult and detailed
It is truly amazing how Baruch decides to tenure someone like this man, especially since he is teaching a core accounting class. But what can we say. Baruch is a crappy school, just accept it and take it. During eval, he is always looking at our paper, so we can't even evaluate him correctly afraid that he might retaliate by lowering our grades
He is a prof that doesn't doesn't give real world examples. You will cover about 17 chapters. which almost equated to 1 chapter per class. The prof doesn't have time to cover all the material in class, and yet he will test you on the toughest questions. This guy will even test you on questions that he says he won't test you on. Class is tough.
He's not a bad guy but doesn't teach well. To do well in his class, you must be able to solve ALL exercises and problems in the book - impossible for those who have a job with time constraints, even for full-time students it's extremely tough because we have other classes too. Don't expect much from this class - aim at a B and get it over with.
Prof Ghosh is very dedicated and outstanding instructor.
More evidence of the deterioration of Baruch College. The school may have decent decent undergrad programs, but the grad school is a mess. Avoid at all costs.
The best teacher in the MBA program
He is the best instructor in Baruch
Bad prof.Comes late.takes atten, marked absent if you're late.wastes half the class w/BS exmpls (some ppl think engaging, not to me).when he teaches its to go over "key" points, doesn't really do exmpls to reinforce.makes students ans Q's of other students.the statement below was probly written by himself.talks abt his prof career > than abt acct
My mind boggles at the positive comments about this guy. He is by far the worst professor at Baruch. His incompetence and obnoxiousness are above and beyond any limits. Do yourselves a favor-do not take him for Acc 9805. I am simply astonished he did not get fired yet.
I am taking his class and learning a lot
Please do not take a class with this man. There is too much material and does nothing to make it manageable. The worst teacher ever!
Prof. Ghosh would be perfect for an undergraduate program where his mercenary like personality can mold the students mind with little resistance. He can be a very effective accounting professor when he chooses to be, however he spends too much time covering topics we aren't tested on.
I agree!! I am not a great student, but if you bs this guy and make him feel good about himself he will give you a good grade.
This class is WORK. Everyday reading and problem doing thats the only way you'll learn. 2 Midterms and Final not culmulative. If he talked less about his methods of grading us and instead taught and did more problems in class it would be helpful. He does give you a chance to survive if you WORK. Put in the time and you'll pass.
By far, one of the best teachers I've ever encountered. Very passionate about accounting, enthusiastic, funny, truly cares about fostering a rich learning experience for his students within and beyond the classroom . Fair Grader. Makes difficult concepts, easy to understand. Highly recommended for anyone who has a strong interest in accounting.
I think he is a good professor! And he was nice enough to reduce the no of problems assigned, to give us guidelines for the exams. He cannot do the work for you! It is a tough class but if you do your work, you will be pleased.
Have a great trip and thank you for a great semester.
He is a total jerk. He is selfish and only cares about himself. Absolutely no reason to take him. He thinks his is the only class you are taking. It would me a mistake to take him.
A mean man, who makes side deals with nearly every student. Plays favorites. Talks about students behind their backs. A disaster.
All-in-all, I loved the class and learned a ton!!!!
I just wanted to personally thank you for being an inspiration to the class and for motivating us in pushing ourselves to try harder. You did an excellent job in taking a very dry subject as accounting and changing our perspectives to see it in a different light.
I want to thank you so much for teaching this course. I really got a lot out of it. This course made me much more comfortable looking at financial statements and I really appreciate all the real world examples you integrated into the curriculum.
Overall I want to thank you for the experience this semester. It was a roller coaster, very fun at times and very painfully at others. I hope to keep in touch and let you know how my career progresses. I have to say I think you are right, insofar as my future career path. I do no think the if we ran into each other five years from now I will be
Painful experience to say the least. The extra half hour in class for being a 4 credit course is used by him rambling on about anything EXCEPT accounting or things that do not reflect exam material. Very very smart man but should do a lot more to guide students in the right direction. I would say avoid but there is only one 9804 professor at a time
He's a smart guy but the intermediate accounting course in general is a disaster. You have to study a chapter a lecture and HAVE to do well on the first exam. If you don't it will be difficult to recover. Exam questions are similar to the P's and multiple choice are like the online homeworks.
The class is hard but Prof. Ghosh makes it fun. He sure take the "boring" out of accounting. He is fun, genuine and very charming. He makes the class interesting by bringing real world cases and not just sticking to the typical, traditional ways of teaching just from the text. He cares about students a lot.
This is an extremely difficult class due to the volume of material.(not his fault)He does his best to keep everyone on track through the use of constant quizzes. His tests are fair! But, to recieve a top grade in this class you must stay on top of the work immediately!!. He is firm, but he cares and will help you if you aretrying your best.
contrary to the other reviews, i thought he was alright. he does care about the students and is very nice. his exams i felt was extremely hard. he raises the "level" after each exam regardless of the material, so you could of imagine the final was a nightmare. interesting is that he doesn't test you the typical questions you think is the focus.
Brutal class. You have to teach yourself so be prepared for that. That's a real issue cause he's supposed to teach, you know, cause he's the teacher and all. He also reads these comments and flags them if they're bad so I'll bet this comment is taken down before you read it.
In his class if you follow his instructions, you will to get good grades. Good teacher. But the course itself is very lengthy so difficult to justify.
How bad is this guy? I am not giving Baruch an alumni donation, just because of this guy. Baruch, you can kiss thousands of dollars goodbye. That's how bad he is. And i'm sure he wrote these positive comments himself and gave himself a hot pepper. Give me a break, hot pepper. Have you seen him?
He is a smart person, good and fair professor but you are going to hate him anyway! The class is very tough.Nobody can teach the material in one semester. To do well in this class you have to do all the Es+Ps in the book at least twice. After the pain is gone, you will still have a great knowledge in acc and the adv acc, the cpa will seem easy.Gd luck
If you are serious about acc, don't be affraid to take him. Ppl are complaining bc he is demanding.Do all the Es and Ps in the book at least twice and you'll get a good grade. He has a lot to offer, learn from him.I am not saying it's easy but it's rewarding:)
This class was challenging. I did well but no credit could be given to the professor. Be prepared to self-teach the entire textbook to yourself and go to class only to hear meaningless philosophy lectures. Also makes ridiculous underhanded "contracts" with students. Recommended for those disciplined enough to study on their own for COUNTLESS HOURS
stay away. Have to teach yourself, even the out of date methods. Handouts usually wrong or unclear. won't do problems in class - just talks about himself. Pointless online quizzes each week, inconviently due on holidays, vacations, test days. Inaccessible, plays favorites, duplicitous, big ego. Worst teacher in my 8 years of business classes.
Horrible!!! Avoid at all cost. Does not teach and assigns all E and P's from the book.
Avoid this professor, and look at the comments carefully. Don't fool by the fake number. I have no time to account how many fake reviewers here. Many comments are in the similar tone and so many thank you note, why? Someone really wants a high rating.
I loved the course and the professor, learned a lot. No short cut to learning accounting.
I loved accounting and Ghosh's class
I passed my CPA and it was because of his class.
Who are all these people saying "Thank you for your hard work." Who writes that in a ratemyprofessor rating? Only professors writing their own ratings. People who say do all the P&E's twice & u'll be ok are full time students with no internships, no hobbies, no friends. Studied more for this than all my other classes combined that semester.
Professor Ghosh please stop writing nice comments about yourself. You class is horrible because of your teaching style. You just want people to fail!
I love the class, I joined this semester. He teaches very well.
This professor does not care about his students at all. He only cares about his ratings, as he constantly refers to it in class. He assigns unreasonable amounts of work at the last minute and then when students complain, he will change it--only so that the opportunity presents itself for him to boast about what a "great" teacher he is and how he d
Can't believe the accounting department is headed by this joke of a teacher. Avoid.
Professor Ghosh is very passionate about both accounting and himself. He slams you hard with loads of problems to do in the text book and never addresses problems like them in class. Be prepared to memorize or practice hundreds of long problems.
Great professor but by far the hardest class I took in Baruch. People who say do all the P&E's twice & u'll be ok is an understatment. Studied more for this than all my other classes combined that semester.
Exceptional heavy load of work (20 chapters or 1300 pages of Acc., graded homework, exercices & problems, quizes) makes this class highly challenging. I've never had to study that much (by far). Professor Ghosh is fair & enthusiastic, but requires A LOT from you. Expect to spend at least 20H/week to study if you want to pass with a B or above.
Professor Ghoshe is a good person who wants to see his students do good. Its not his fault intermediate accounting at grad level is the hardest class at Baruch! I put in around 15-20 hours per week memorizing E's and P's and got a B+. Never worked so hard for a B+ before, but professor ghoshe is the best teacher for this class.
Intermediate Acc is a hard, challenging course and requires a lot of effort and diligence. At the outset, Prof. Ghosh told us the amount of effort required and if you did that you'd do really well in this class. Concentrate on the E's & P's and you'll do great. Prof. Ghosh is very helpful and taught concepts like Lease acc really well.
He is very good at explaining concepts and applying them to real life examples. If you learn better by doing problems in class then Ghosh will be difficult for you. Trust him when he says that he will not fail you if you put in some sort of effort. Most people got B+ or more and the rest got B. Take him if you want to understand the concepts well.
It's Aloke Ghosh not anoke. Very difficult class. 2 midterm 1 final. and 15 hwk quizzes. Exams are mostly quantitative. Class lectures are basics and will not be tested. Details and actual account grunt work on the exam. online hwk are timed and it will KILL you if you are not prepared. THey count and matter. of 80 students 50 took the final. gotb+
do yourself a favor and avoid this class!!! very difficult material and lectures were useless.
Very difficult class - shouldn't have to be. The professor gave lectures that were useless on exams/homeworks/quizzes. The exams & online quizzes covered way too much material and were very difficult to complete within the timeframe. Take another professor... anyone!
Topics taught in class were very simple. Tests and homeworks were incredibly difficult. I felt that anything that I got out of the class, I had to learn on my own. I expected more from the head of the program.
Ghosh is obsessed with accounting, and his motivation is somewhat inspiring. He always misunderstands students questions in class or doesn't answer them at all. Some students say he's completely out of his mind, but I thought he was helpful being that I bombed the midterm, and after he saw I was putting inalot of effort ended with B.
Attending class is not useful at all but it is mandatory. The tip for getting desirable grade is memorizing the solutions for textbook problems. Who does that in graduate level course? It was surely disappointing and NOT inspiring at all!
What did you pay tuition for? To learn out of a textbook & hear him say how great he is. He makes you do all the problems in the textbook. Attendance is mandatory & then he talks abut himself. So far at Baruch, I received mostly A's, a few B's & one C from this clown
it is funny how all of the positive ratings are 1-5-5-5 or 1-4-4-4 and in the same tone. I was working part time and going to school full time with 23 credits. I asked for advice how to pass his class and he told me to drop out- uninspiring. I ended up doing alright in the class, but what a joke of a professor.
Terrible professor. Will make you work extremely hard. He actually say that to get a good grade in his class you have to study about 40 hours per week. Impossible if you work full time and have other classes. Average on tests is usually below 60 although he does curve your final grade. Avoid all costs, the class is not worth the stress he causes
Amazing teacher with a great sense of humor and teaching style. He roots for the students to do well but you need to put in the work. This is a graduate class so do not expect to breeze by. If you put in the time and want to do well you will be rewarded. Do not listen to bad reviews, he's a great professor.
Terrible teacher! Terrible teaching skills! Extremely hard exams! Do not take this professor if you want to live a normal life........
Great class. Really enjoy this professor. He's very straightforward and wants his students to succeed. Class is very interesting. Huge amount of work no matter who teaches class but very rewarding. You must devote lots of time and work all the problems more than once but it's all vital material that must be learned for CPA. It is exhausting though!
Honestly he is not a bad professor at all. He jokes a lot and really wants his students to do well in his class. He provides you all possible means to boost your grade. But after all, this class itself is very tough. Prof. doesn't really answer your question but he does try. I read the textbook twice and did all req. E&Ps to get a good grade.
not his fault 9804 is so tough but he's the best teacher for the class. not like taking someone else will make it better it's the same 1500 page textbook no matter what. gives you a fair shot at a decent grade.
He is not bad. Intermediate Acc is very though and no professors can do better than him. He is actually trying hard to ease the exams already. The test questions are all from the quizes before. If you are doing well in the quiz and you can pass the exam very easily.
Class is known for being the most difficult in the program, and it is. Not a bad professor, but a difficult subject to learn. Online quizzes are usually straight from the book. Expect a lot of typos on the tests. He makes multiple versions and forgets to change all the data so unless you got the original version, you're going to have problems.
I just don't like him. His class is not helpful at all. He just cannot help me understand. And yeas, his midterm is hard and ridiculous.
This class is hard and you can't blame the professor. If he sees that you are doing the work - which is A LOT - you will do fine. Gave students every opportunity to manage their grade. The class is no joke though, hardest class I've ever taken. Having had other Accounting professors Ghoshe is pretty good. Goes by the book which is helpful.
The class is very hard but Ghosh does everything he can to set you up to succeed. The tests are not at all unfair he basically tells you 95% of whats going to be on it. As long as you don't fall behind on the ton of reading the class is very manageable.
The material is vast and dense. Professor Ghosh is very energetic and enthusiastic. He loves teaching and puts his students first. The online P questions for the quizes are carbon copies form the book problems with some numbers changed. He grades the midterm and final in your favor! Ask questions in class and or email so he knows your name.
He doesn't have clear grading criteria. Found that he lied.. Doesn't respect students and MOST OF ALL, DOESN'T TEACH IN THE CLASS. THE WORST PROFESSOR IN MY LIFE.
PLS PLS PLS DON'T TAKE HIM. HE IS NOT HELPFUL AT ALL & DOESN'T TEACH ACCOUNTING IN THE CLASS.
He is the worst professor ever I met in my life. Doesn't have clear grading criteria-what he says on the silabus is not true. Hope I would not register his class. PLS PLS PLS PLS DO NOT EXPECT YOU CAN LEARN REAL ACCOUNTING FROM HIS CLASS. MOST OF ALL, HE DOESN'T LIKE TO TEACH STUDENTS
He is very fair and loves teaching. He is very knowledeagle. I hope you take his class
His English has a strong India accent. If you take his class, hell take one third of the time brag about how great he is. However, When you have difficulties in this course and ask him for advice, his only suggestion would be drop out of his class. Whats more, he lies all the time and does not respect student. The worst professor I met in Baruch!
Professor Ghosh posts all his past evaluations on the blackboard. His approval rating is around 90% and students love him. I guess a few students who never took his class or dropped his class must sharing their feedback.
I loved his class, very farr, loves to teach with real life example. No wonder students love him who take his class.
I too saw all his evaluations and students love him. I loved his class. great teacher
I loved his class, a great accounting professor, the best class
I loved the class. he is immensely knowledgeable and shares his wisdom on accounting and finance. The best Baruch class
A difficult class but Ghosh makes learning accounting a lot of fun. He is a superb teacher. I saw his Baruch evaluations, he gets great student feedback. Good job.
The best part about his class are cases studies which he creates himself. Great at giving real life examples. Great prof
Ghosh really prepares you for the FARS portion of the CPA exam. His class was very enjoyable. Great teacher.

Professor Ghosh was genuinely interested in helping his students to succeed, which I appreciate. This is by far the most difficult course I've ever taken, due to the content, the volume of the content, and the difficulty of completing the requisite work in addition to 6 other classes.
The course was wonderful. I learnt a lot. We should have covered chapter 13, 6 and 21 instead of three classes at the end for relaxation. More problem solving would be nice and MCQ practice is needed. Overall, class was really good and I enjoyed it.
I appreciated Prof. Ghosh's work ethic. He always came to class well prepared and took the temperature of the class to see if we were understanding and maintaining the material. He brought real life issues and work to the classroom and that is hugely appreciated. Well done Professor. Uniquely and amazingly well done.
Prof. Ghosh taught an extremely challenging course in very little time. The book chosen was excellent, and he was very straightforward with how to succeed in the course. His midterm had a few frustrating errors but otherwise he delivers on his promise. If he taught any more classes I would take them without hesitation.

Thank you so much, Prof. for making the most challenging course in the program less painful... The quizzes are extremely helpful. Maybe group projectspresentation in the future courses to improve class interactions?
Prior to this class, there has never been a professor that can fully grasp my attention for the entire class time. The guidance provided by Professor Ghosh, and his passion to engage his students has made this one of the most rewarding courses I have ever taken. Thank you!

Lecture was very helpful to establish underlying concepts and accounting in the real world in each chapter.

I liked that the class was a two way stream rather than forced information one way
Extremely well organized class considering the amount of material to covered over a semester. Would be great if more real life examples/cases could be discussed during lectures. I understand this might be difficult given time constraints, but 15-20 minutes discussing actual industry cases (in select classes) based on the professor's research intere
I love Professor Ghosh. He has a great passion about accounting which makes me more interested in the industry. He has also designed a great syllabus which pushes me to learn so much during the semester. I am very grateful that I have him as one of my accounting professors.

Could tell from first class that Professor Ghosh was extremely thoughtful about the class and cared about his students actually learning. Please continue to explain your thought process in determining grading and coursework because it really shows that there is thought and reason behind everything.
The power point slides should be improved a bit, they were difficult to follow. Otherwise, great course and professor.

This course is great, very challenging but definitely rewards hard work.
very knowledgeable professor, brings a lot of insights into the classroom.
Prof ghosh helped us prepare well for the FARS portion of the CPA exam. His course is well developed for the CPA exams.
A loved the class -- the best accounting professor
One of the best professors in the Zicklin. he truly cares about you and helping you succeed. Thanks prof.
I love Professor Ghosh! He has a great passion about accounting which makes me more interested in the industry.
Prof. Ghosh always came to class well prepared and made sure we understood the material.
Truly cares about his students. I learned a lot from his class.
Enjoyed reading his articles and research work on his website. Thanks!
A very knowledgeable professor. I enjoyed his style of teaching
An awesome prof
Great teacher
Very inflated ego. I know that his fellow professors have a low opinion of his research - lazy and BSed his way through life. This extends to his classroom. I got an A but prepare to teach yourself. Ton of material and he won't teach you anything. All he does is assign homework which is all the questions in the textbook. Great teacher!
He just released his evaluations, students love him. I liked his class a lot as well.
Awesome professor, really liked his class and teaching style.
Professor is really professional in accounting area.
Lectures well but goes off on too many tangents. Way TOO strict on online homeworks. He's the only guy I know at Baruch that makes them timed with only one try... You're pretty much responsible for the material yourself regardless if he doesn't go over it (He skipped one whole chapter and made us learn it ourselves). Take 9804 the fall if you can.
His rhetoric makes you think that he's good at teaching, but, at the end of the day, you realize that you didn't learn anything in class. If you take 9804 with him, you are on your own for studying. He quizzes you on materials he does not cover. Pretty much, he spends most of class time boasting about how great he is and answering irrelevant q's.
Accounting in general is hard. Professor Ghosh, in my opinion, is the only accounting professor I ever know in Baruch that actually taught the concepts of account extremely clearly. The class itself is a full time job and his exams are related to the CPA Exams but I promise you, you are in good hands if you listen to him! And he cares about us.
Prof. Ghosh cares for his students' careers. The topics covered in the class will take you a long way; you will need to practice individually or in group after class and you will sense the progress as you go. His feedback and suggestions are valuable, and, if you are willing to put in the work, you are in the right class. I would do it again.
Professor Ghosh is an excellent professor who is willing to help his students pass the FAR's section of the CPA exam. I have never seen an accounting professor as passionate as Professor Ghosh. His exams are not easy, so be prepared to read the textbook. Attendance is not mandatory, but i promise you that if you do go, he will do his best to help.
Yes, he is nice and willing to help you. But, I have to say he literally teaches nothing. He only explains the basics of each chapter, so you have to study the whole chapter in your own since he gonna test almost every single thing of the chapter. By the way, this is the hardest accounting class i've ever taken at Baruch College.
Prof. Ghosh teaches you the contents in a way, which will not only help you excel in the course but also in the long run(CPA). He is highly inspiring and gives a lot of opportunities to anyone who is willing to put in the effort. His tests are tough but he prepares you well. Hands down, Prof. Ghosh is the best professor I've ever had. GOAT
Professor Aloke Ghosh is an incredible professor who cares about his students success in the Accounting field and teaches in a manner that is understandable, interesting & CPA ready. If you have not worked very hard in your past accounting classes, be ready to do so in his as the exams are challenging. You can get an A, but be ready to work hard!
I think Aloke himself controls it. Like look at these positive comments and the the like/dislike ratio in the bottom. Seems suspicious. Ego headed
You will learn absolutely nothing during his lectures. He spends 50% of the time emphasizing how difficult the course is, and the other 50% he uses students in meaningless examples that just confuses everyone including himself. Rushes through 1-2 problems per class. Exams are difficult and youre going to be teaching yourself if you expect to pass.
An amazing prof, prepares you for CPA
The depth of his understanding is amazing. He is the best professor in accounting. Just look at his teaching evaluations.
The course is very difficult but Prof Ghosh makes the subject matter easy to understand. Great guy!
I learned more in this class than in any other class. You can see his student evaluations on Baruch website which are always very high
He will ruin accounting for you and won't teach you anything. He won't give a curve even if everybody is not doing well. He will pretend or think that he is helping you but all he does is speak about himself and DOESN'T ACTUALLY TEACH.
An amazing prof. I learned so much. He helped me understand accounting
Prof Ghosh prepared me for CPA exam. I wish he teaches all accounting classes
I learned a lot from his class even though it was hard. He is a great prof
Professor ghosh inspired me to learn accounting
This class is very challenging! Do yourself a favor and READ beforehand!!! It also helps if he knows who you are so participate, ask questions and PRACTICE the Ps and Es at the end of the Chapter to do well in the class. The exams are hard so do your best to prepare.
the classes are challenging but you learn a lot, you should pick him over others.
I loved the professor's class. he taugh with passion and i learnt a lot
Very Inspiring lectures. Materials are hard but listen to his instruction carefully and you will do well. if you do well in mid- term, you are through. final is easy
I loved the class, choose him over others if you want a career in accounting and wan to pass the CPA
Prof Ghosh is very knowledgeable and cares about his students. Learned a lot. HIs evaluations are very high.
Horrible! Stay away!
He helped me love accounting. great class
